Speaker 1 (00:08):
You're listening to a Mom with Me podcast.

Speaker 2 (00:15):
Makeup is my therapy.

Speaker 3 (00:18):
I'm obsessed and I don't even feel guilty about it.

Speaker 4 (00:24):
Hello and welcome to you, beauty. This is the podcast
for your face. I'm Kelly mccaren.

Speaker 5 (00:29):
And I'm Amy Clark. Back in. I'm really happy to
be here in Sydney.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
FYI.

Speaker 6 (00:33):
For anyone that doesn't know, I'm in the MoMA mea
Melbourne office, So I love when I get to come
up and have a good old chat with kel How.

Speaker 2 (00:40):
Are you going?

Speaker 4 (00:40):
Is the Sydney office much prettier? Yes, yeah, I'm here.
Oh gosh, I killed those dad jokes. Anyway, how was
your weekend?

Speaker 5 (00:53):
My weekend was fabulous. I'm a big reader.

Speaker 6 (00:56):
I know this is not an entertainment slash book podcast,
but I come with the book recommendation if anyone side note,
if you ever want a romanticy hockey romance small town,
you just rank romance book recommendations. Slide into my dms
because I have read over fifty of these books this year.

(01:17):
Just also a subtle reading Netflex is just the most
niche hockey romance.

Speaker 5 (01:23):
It's honestly not niche.

Speaker 6 (01:24):
Kelly Hockey like the game. Yeah, like ice hockey. Sorry,
specifically ice hockey, but yeah, anyways, I had a great weekend,
me and my.

Speaker 4 (01:32):
Kindle okay fight, I don't even know what to say
about that.

Speaker 1 (01:38):
I think I'm gonna need a moment.

Speaker 5 (01:40):
We can talk about it later.

Speaker 1 (01:41):
We're gonna get.

Speaker 4 (01:42):
Into your beauty questions and then our beauty bites of
the week. But first things first, here is the Beauty Edit.
Welcome back to the Beauty Edit. I'm Cass, Mommy's Morning editor.

Speaker 7 (01:53):
Hey Caz, I'm Molly, head of Last Style here at
Mummy on my first time on the Beauty Edit.

Speaker 2 (01:58):
Thanks for having me.

Speaker 3 (01:59):
Now let's get into our first headline. We need to
talk about what's happening right now in the cinemas but
also on our faces, so we know we could back
on the screen.

Speaker 2 (02:08):
The Wizard of Oz pre cool. Have you seen it?

Speaker 5 (02:09):
I actually haven't, but I'm very excited.

Speaker 2 (02:12):
We can't wait.

Speaker 3 (02:13):
But what's interesting to me is how it's kind of
flowing on effect for what we're wearing. Obviously, we know
Ariana Grande has her own makeup brand, Brand Beauty, and
they've released previous Wicked collections. I think that's been two
now one for each film, but it's actually happening everywhere,
not just in Ariana as well. So there's a new
report saying that interesting green has just been two hundred

(02:33):
and forty percent in line with the release of the movie.
I don't know what you think about this look.

Speaker 7 (02:38):
Green is not my color. I don't think it's for everyone,
so it's not really anything new. Twenty twenty five's Pinterest
colors of Spring. One of those was pistacio, and over
the last you know what, two three four years, we've
seen the rise of just that color pistachio everywhere, you know,
puppy pistachio. We've got the Dubai chocolate, and I think

(03:01):
we've seen a really increasing people just wearing green. I
think we're probably mostly talking about clothes.

Speaker 5 (03:07):
Are we talking about making this is my thing?

Speaker 2 (03:09):
You know.

Speaker 3 (03:09):
One of the other stats in here is that Pink's
moment has gone, Barby's come and gone, and that it's
down thirty percent. And for me, I just think that
pink is a lot more of a wearable color when
it comes to beauty.

Speaker 7 (03:19):
I find that green on the lids can be great
on certain eye colors. So brown eyes look incredible with
a little little slick green eyeliner looks amazing, So I mean, obviously,
nails also are a massive statement. In Wicked, Cynthia Rivo's
nails are literally a beauty to behold all of their

(03:41):
own they could have, you know, they're their own character.
So I wonder whether maybe we're going to see this
playing out in like nails and things like that, but
also we might see it in accessories. One thing we
should note also is the Pantone color of the year
will be revealed.

Speaker 5 (03:56):
The countdown is on.

Speaker 7 (03:57):
I think we're about three days from Pantone reveal, so
it'll be interesting.

Speaker 5 (04:01):
To see what that color is, you know.

Speaker 7 (04:03):
I think we can definitely nod to the fact that
movies and pop culture have a massive influence on the
colors that we wear. But the Barbie movie had a
massive impact on the color pink. Were people wearing pink before?

Speaker 5 (04:18):
Yes? Are they still even though Barbie is a few
years ago?

Speaker 1 (04:22):
Yes, we're still wearing it.

Speaker 7 (04:23):
I think we'll see more green around sure, maybe, but
certainly it doesn't mean that you know that everything else
is over and that we're not going to wear anything else.
But also, let's see what Pantone releases.

Speaker 2 (04:33):
Let's see what pantone does. I mean green owls. You
heard it here.

Speaker 3 (04:36):
First, Moles, I need to talk about something that is
actually giving me nightmares on the internet. Apparently people are
putting period blood. I'm not on their faces. Now have
you seen this on the ice dying?

Speaker 5 (04:47):
I have, Cass. I can't, I just can't.

Speaker 7 (04:51):
It was one thing vampire facials, which was you know,
taking blood, centrifuging it and shmushing it back into your paws.
I'm actually a bit speechless, so I'm going to leave
this one to you.

Speaker 2 (05:02):
Yeah, look, it's quite stressful.

Speaker 3 (05:03):
I mean, yeah, we've had the vampire facial, we've had
salmon sperm. Now people are in period blood, and you know,
we kind of want to get to the bottom of this.
So at MMAMEA we spoke with an expert deeper Canda.
She does pharmasy practice at Kingston University, and we really
wanted to get to the bottom of what is happening yet,
why people are doing this crazy trend, and whether or
not has any benefits or even is not good for you,

(05:25):
which like spoiler.

Speaker 2 (05:26):
Alert, it's terrible for you.

Speaker 3 (05:27):
Good to know, but basically people are doing it because
your period blood does contain stem cells, which people are
confusing the fact that stem cells are helpful with repair
in that that it will make your skin amazing and
be in a elixir of youth. But when we spoke
to the expert, what's actually in your period blood is
super interesting. I'm not sure if many women actually know this.
It's uterine lining and demutual tissue, dead cells, vaginal secretions,

(05:51):
cervical mucus, hormones and proteins.

Speaker 7 (05:53):
I mean, actually when you list them out like that,
it kind of makes sense, of course, but I've.

Speaker 5 (05:58):
Never really given it that much thought.

Speaker 3 (05:59):
Look, I don't know how they're collecting it, like are
they getting their Diva.

Speaker 2 (06:02):
Cups out exactly? It stresses me out. It stresses me out.

Speaker 3 (06:06):
But the kind of what we have realized from speaking
to the expert is that there's really a there's no
studies on this, there's no confirmed benefits, there's no clinical evidence,
and in fact, it could be quite dangerous, especially considering
that there's bacteria living in your vaginal canal that's not
supposed to be put on your skin, especially if you
have like an open cut or sow.

Speaker 2 (06:26):
It could lead to something like.

Speaker 3 (06:27):
Cellulitis and then also, and this is like so kind
of horrible, but like STD's could end up on your face.
Oh my gosh, I know, I know, so don't do
this everyone, There.

Speaker 5 (06:38):
Are so many other things you can do.

Speaker 1 (06:41):
Now.

Speaker 3 (06:41):
Some other exciting beauty news for people who love hour
Glass is that Kisa Janes, the founder, is relaunching a
brand called The Nature of Things. So this is a
relaunch because it was originally launched in twenty nineteen by
some co founders Jamie Palo and JP Collett. Call It
is actually a friend of Jane, so that's how she
got to know the brand. And Jane's has been around

(07:02):
in the beauty sphere for a while, so she studied
at Parsons. She cut her teeth at various brands like
Urban Decay founded Our Glass in two thousand and four,
which we all know has been kind of a huge moment. Moles,
I know you're a big Hourglass fan. I love Our Glass.

Speaker 7 (07:15):
And what I think we all know recently of Our
Glass is that they have left Mecca, which is very interesting.
I think that their business would be interesting to see
what happens with their whole D to C kind of approach.
And I think she is obviously a mastermind of that.
So she's a very smart business woman and has really
built an incredible brand.

Speaker 3 (07:35):
She is very savvy and like, this isn't the first
brand that she's been involved in since Our Glass.

Speaker 2 (07:40):
She invested in Sultan.

Speaker 3 (07:41):
Stone and Youth to the People, but this is the
first time that it's her face behind the new brand.

Speaker 2 (07:46):
So I think there's quite a lot.

Speaker 3 (07:48):
Of not pressure, but what is she going to do
with this, because we know that she's the master at
making this big beadding moment. But for everybody who is
not across the nature of things, it's going to be
a high quality, plant based product system that's kind of
for hair, body and bath products. So remaining with the
original name and logo, but launching a bunch of new products,

(08:08):
including a body wash, body lotion, body bar, hand wash,
and volumeizing shampoo.

Speaker 7 (08:13):
So Carisa actually she actually came out and said there
are a lot of products in the beauty space. Day
after day, another product is launching. But I don't see
a lot of fleshed out brands. They're not developed enough
to feel like a brand. I'm attracted to brands that
have a very clear visual identity, great product and clear
point of view and strong visual language. So be really

(08:33):
interesting to see what she does with this, because to
be honest with you, looking at it as a brand
now without her having done whatever she's going to do
with it, it actually doesn't stand out to me. To me,
it just feels like another natural product.

Speaker 3 (08:48):
Well, there's so much in that sphere, and there's so
much in bodycare at the moment. We know that bodycare
sales have gone up twenty eight percent year on year,
but it is such a crowded market and it's really
interesting to me that she's kind of laying out her
blueprint there about what she intends to do with this brand,
and we know she has done it in the past,
so I think it is watch this space. But yeah,

(09:08):
on first listen, it really doesn't grab me that much.
That's all for your beauty edit this week. Let's get
back into your beauty dilemmas.

Speaker 6 (09:16):
I couldn't help, but wonder ask me anything, you ask
many questions. All right, first question we have, hi, wonderful ladies.
Can you believe Christmas is nearly here? Festive question for
you if you were curating a lux bracket but not
outrageously spendy twelve Days of Christmas advent calendar for a
few of your best girlfriends.

Speaker 5 (09:38):
What would your top product picks be? Think travel size
trial fragrances.

Speaker 6 (09:43):
Okay, Alex, you are maybe like the nicest friend that
you're even feeling.

Speaker 5 (09:47):
Ah, So for your friends.

Speaker 1 (09:50):
Guess what I've curated for our friend Alex.

Speaker 6 (09:53):
Oh shall and tell Kelly has for anyone who's not
watching us on YouTube.

Speaker 5 (09:59):
She's actually done it. Do you do that in canvas?

Speaker 6 (10:02):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (10:02):
I did.

Speaker 6 (10:03):
She's put together a visual representation of everything could look.

Speaker 4 (10:07):
I have put together for her girlfriends. So when she
said a few of her best girlfriends, I assumed.

Speaker 1 (10:12):
It was three.

Speaker 2 (10:14):
Nice.

Speaker 1 (10:14):
Yeah, that's just what I was assuming. What I have done.

Speaker 4 (10:17):
I have put a luxury twelve day kit together for
her three friends, just over two hundred dollars each. Oh wow,
which I think is really good for twelve like luxury.

Speaker 5 (10:27):
Ish Ye generous, yeah, very generous.

Speaker 6 (10:31):
But she did say luxury, so right, you take this,
you take your job very seriously?

Speaker 1 (10:36):
Yes I did.

Speaker 5 (10:37):
So.

Speaker 4 (10:37):
I did go to Kmart, but only to begin with Okay,
I know she said luxury, but just to get like
one of those big really like they're quite good quality.
They've got really exactly.

Speaker 6 (10:48):
You need a mix of big like big sizes small things.

Speaker 4 (10:51):
So I went there and got the beauty pouch bag,
vanity bag, whatever they're called. You can get them for
fourteen dollars and they're really so good. And then I
also got some of those wave clips, like the flat clips,
so I did get those from Kmart.

Speaker 1 (11:07):
They were four dollars.

Speaker 4 (11:08):
But you don't need luxury wave clips because sometimes headbands
hurt the head agreed, Agreed. And I use these pretty
much every time I do my makeup to keep my
hair off my face so I don't end up because
as well I'm blonde, then you get round splodges everywhere
through my hair. So I use these so often, so
I think that it's a really great thing to include

(11:28):
in the twelve days. So then I've gone to Mecca
and I've got a Mini Tower twenty eight Mscara because
I've heard that it's fantastic.

Speaker 1 (11:38):
I haven't actually tried it myself, but.

Speaker 5 (11:39):
The packaging on that brand is very festive as well.

Speaker 4 (11:42):
If you're following along on YouTube, you know that everything
is cohesive and aesthetic. In my little twelve day gift set,
also from Mecca, I got the Frank Body body scrub
and cleanser, like a little mini pack because it is
just so luxurious and it feels so nice and it
smells beautiful. And I got the travel sized Soul Degenaire

(12:08):
Drench shower oil.

Speaker 1 (12:12):
Yum, does that not just sound so beautiful?

Speaker 5 (12:14):
This is sounding great. I'd love to be friends with Alex.

Speaker 7 (12:18):
Ok.

Speaker 4 (12:19):
Sorry, I got the we will link everything in the
show notes. But I also got a pack of three
because it's so a lot of these are actually sorry,
I should have clarified, are packs of three? You are
so clever because it's that time of year when you
can get different gift sets and if you want to
get them all the same scene.

Speaker 6 (12:39):
It's like three lip products, three eyeshadow sticks.

Speaker 4 (12:42):
Oh exactly, So just a pretty face, I know, I know.
So I got the three Cosas blushes. They're beautiful, and
so we were including one of those. And then I've
got a little Morphy powder puff. So I also got
a packet of three, so we're just putting one in
each thing, so cute. Then I'm going to lock the

(13:02):
time and I'm getting a set of the three hand creams.
So the mini hand creams they get much most iconic
han creams, so they're really pretty. Then I'm moving on
to Sophora and I got the Noturium lip bumbs, the
fire lip bums.

Speaker 6 (13:16):
I am obsessed the color that I am musing at
the moment. Oh, Fritz, I can't think of the name,
but it's almost like a fig kind.

Speaker 5 (13:24):
Of color, like a plummy anyway, is it that one? Yes?

Speaker 1 (13:28):
Yes, yes, the one I've included in my flight is
so good.

Speaker 5 (13:30):
Just side note recommendation. This lip product.

Speaker 6 (13:33):
It makes it look like I've had something done to
my lips.

Speaker 5 (13:36):
Ooh, I put it on my lips, look so juicy.

Speaker 4 (13:40):
Okay, well, you can get a three pack from Sephora.
They're full size for thirty six dollars, now I know.
And then also from Sephora, I got the little mini
lip liners for twelve dollars, and that way you can
make like a really nice lip.

Speaker 1 (13:54):
The Sola WASU first Care activating masks.

Speaker 4 (13:57):
They're eighteen dollars each and it is the most beautiful,
luxurious mask.

Speaker 5 (14:03):
The original kind of luxury Korean skincare. Exactly.

Speaker 4 (14:07):
It has got so much of this juice in it
that it's actually worth more than eighteen dollars I'm pretty
sure because it's enough to cover your entire body. Plus
I got a three pack of the Floral Street fragrances.
It was ninety five dollars worth one sixty six, So
that's a really good bug and that way they can
all get their own fragrance and.

Speaker 5 (14:28):
That is what they got.

Speaker 4 (14:30):
So it's two hundred and nine dollars each, that's what
it works out to be. And they've all got the
twelve products for Christmas.

Speaker 5 (14:36):
Oh I love that literally the own homework.

Speaker 1 (14:40):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (14:41):
The only edit I would maybe recommend or substitution again
around this time of year, like mini Christmas candles, like
you can get those in a three as well. Goodness, sir,
was that meant to be?

Speaker 1 (14:54):
That was one of my products. I forgot it on
the flat lay yer.

Speaker 4 (14:57):
Oh, I was literally just looking at it, going, why
do I feel like something is missing? I've got a
three pack of dip tea candles in there.

Speaker 6 (15:06):
Yeah, I was gonna say that, or even you know,
if you depending on how the spen's going, the Mini Glasshouse.

Speaker 1 (15:11):
The Mini Glasshouse, would it right back.

Speaker 6 (15:14):
Joe Loves is another brand that randomly do some mini
Christmas three packs. But yeah, that was my only notes,
and that was included in the two to nine. Well
there you go, the dip tea candle for goodness, say Kelly,
we'll have a fantastic like girls miss celebration with this.

Speaker 1 (15:32):
Yes, please, that'll fun.

Speaker 4 (15:39):
Question number two bre sent us a DM on Insta. Hello, ladies,
A question for my dry skin idols Kelly and Amy.

Speaker 1 (15:46):
Listen. If I'm going to be an idol, it's for
the dry skin.

Speaker 5 (15:50):
I'm a dry I'm a dry I'm a dry gal.

Speaker 4 (15:54):
What are your go to daily serum and moisturizers?

Speaker 6 (15:58):
Okay, yes, dry skin. I think it's probably let's do
a quick refresher. Dry skin is a skin type. It
means that you're skin is lacking in natural oils, different
to dehydrated, which is lacking in.

Speaker 5 (16:11):
Water, which I am both fun.

Speaker 6 (16:15):
I am just yeah, super dry and have so many recommendations,
as does Kelly, so we're gonna kind of just whizz
through them. But a few of the ones that I've
been using, I think mind skew. I love that Kelly's
list is more. You've got the under fifty dollars, which
I get into.

Speaker 4 (16:30):
Thought I was going to make a cause there so
many that I love, and I'm also always chopping and changing,
so I thought, you know what to make it easier.
I just like had a look at my draw and
I was like, what's under fifty dollars that helps this problem.

Speaker 6 (16:43):
I love that we need the high low, so mine
skew a little bit more cosmaceutical. For those who don't know,
I worked at a door beauty for a while, so
obviously had the luxury of trialing and testing a lot
of more active cosmaceutical brands, which sometimes tend to have
a higher price point. But I just wanted to caveat
that as to why. So a couple products, the Alphah

(17:04):
Golden Hayes face oil or the Hober Company any what
do you call it oil? What do you call it
hobo oil? Either of those love a face oil. I
use a face oil all year round to a lot
of people yet winter, but if you're dry, that's my
nightly moisturizer. I even sometimes add it into my foundation
just to help with any.

Speaker 5 (17:25):
Texture that it's clinging to.

Speaker 4 (17:27):
I know people said it, They're like, you two don't
have dry skin, and we're like, yes, we do. We're
just very good at our jobs of making ourselves look
like we don't.

Speaker 6 (17:36):
Yes, Another product that I want to recommend that I've
talked about before as a moisturizer of the event soothing
recovery cream that is just a no frills like moisturizer,
day night, whatever. Really can't go wrong with that product.
For a viroamin a, I wanted to recommend some products
not just hydrating serums and moisturizeres, but great products in

(17:59):
your routine that are suited to dry skin. So the
DeFi Damage Butte Pacific Defy Damage serum that is a
vitamin A product, got a really mild, kind of gentle
form of vitamin A in it, really thick kind of
lotion like serum consistency buffered with a lot of other
ingredients like squalene. A great vitamin A option if you

(18:22):
have dry skin and you're just always conscious of you know,
it doesn't take much to set my skin off or
to look flaky. Even if a product is not super strong,
it's just like it just doesn't take much. So that
one I love. Also, it layers really beautifully with other products.
The Laroche Pisee Dermalago serum. I prefer that to their

(18:45):
you know how that lroosh Pize have their highlight high
low beef highlow.

Speaker 5 (18:50):
Oh yes whatever.

Speaker 6 (18:50):
The hyaluronic acid I actually prefer for my dry skin.
I don't typically love a straight haleronic acid.

Speaker 1 (18:56):
See, well, it's better for hydration not dryness.

Speaker 6 (18:59):
Yeah, yeah, exactly. So I like these formulas that have
a few bits and pieces in it. This one is
specifically for the sensitive skin. A lot of products that
are sensitive quote unquote skin products work for dry skin too,
because they're going to be packed with lots of like
a mixed nourishment. Yeah, a mixture of like humectants, so
the water loving ingredients, and then the emollience and the

(19:19):
exclusive so all the kinds of things that we need.

Speaker 5 (19:21):
I love a mist.

Speaker 6 (19:23):
I know this is not a serum, but it's just
it's adjacent. It's a linege creamy skin mist. So this
comes as a what do you call them, like an
essence tona milk. It comes in that, but it also
comes in a spray mist. I prefer the mist just
for ease, yeah, so I don't have to pat pat pat.
And another one that I love is the Miurad Intensive

(19:47):
Recovery Cream. This is a thick mother of a cream,
but it is like if you're really dry and you
are craving that barrier comfortable feeling on the skin, Like
this is quite.

Speaker 5 (20:02):
A thick It's almost like a bomb.

Speaker 6 (20:04):
It's a real balm thick texture that when you put
it between your hands, you rub it in, you've kind
of got it almost like warm it up a little
bit before you put it on.

Speaker 5 (20:12):
But I love, love, love love that product.

Speaker 6 (20:15):
And then finally, last thing I want to touch on
before Kelly does her recommendations is exfoliation. So I think,
you know there's a hydrating serums and moisturizes, but exfoliation
is so.

Speaker 5 (20:24):
Important you don't want to overdo it. But I find.

Speaker 1 (20:28):
Times a week.

Speaker 6 (20:29):
Yeah, I even just exfoliate once a week and it
just instantly helps to lift some of that for lakiness.
And I want to suggest either an enzyme exfoliating powder,
so I love the alpha H enzymatic polish, which is
kind of like it's basically like the dermalogica, but it's
a powder.

Speaker 5 (20:48):
I use it in the shower so you.

Speaker 6 (20:50):
Can literally just on damp hands. It's a bit of
powder that you put into your hands, you lather it
into almost like a very fine, luscious cleanser and I
just use that as my second cleanser. And then speaking
of Dermalogica, I actually love their glacolic acid cleanser as
n exfoliant for dry skin. Again, it's a step that's

(21:12):
really easy to add into the routine, and then it
means you can still do your other serums and stuff,
you know, when you're laying a lot of liquid exfoliants
things like that, sometimes I get a bit much to
then how do I get in my other ingredients as well?

Speaker 5 (21:25):
What about you take me through your list?

Speaker 4 (21:27):
Well, as I said, I was just like, I'm going
to keep this to what's in my drawer at the
moment that's under fifty.

Speaker 1 (21:34):
Dollars that I really love.

Speaker 4 (21:36):
Using when my skin's feeling so dry and dehydrated. I
really love to layer lots of thin products rather than
using one or two really thick products.

Speaker 5 (21:45):
Just because it's just good. We've got like two opposite approach.

Speaker 4 (21:47):
Yeah, I know, but also I think that then that
ties in with me not just being dried, that I'm
also dehydrated. So if I'm not getting all of that
hydration in through the thinner layers first, and I don't know,
it just doesn't the one cream.

Speaker 5 (22:01):
I'm just so flaky straight away.

Speaker 4 (22:04):
So the Bubble Milky Tona sounds similar to the Linige one. However,
it is like you've got to pour it in your hands,
but it's quite thick. I don't know how it would
actually go in a It's like a glaze. Yeah, it's beautiful.
That one's twenty four dollars. And then I love the
TBH Rebound Skin Milk, which is a bit thinner. That's
twenty nine to ninety five. The Nourium Barrier Balance forty

(22:24):
five dollars.

Speaker 6 (22:25):
I've talked about this serum for keeping your skin so
nice and supple like ever since it launched.

Speaker 1 (22:33):
I'm obsessed with it.

Speaker 4 (22:34):
The corse Ex Snail Musin that's about thirty two thirty
depending on where you get it. That's really just hydrating once.
It's like one of those just layers that I like
to add in the GI.

Speaker 6 (22:46):
You don't like it, I'm just yeah, I love it
as a product.

Speaker 5 (22:50):
I just don't love the texture for my skin because
it's enough.

Speaker 6 (22:53):
It's the one where you could put it between your
palms and you.

Speaker 1 (22:57):
Pour your palms so hot.

Speaker 5 (22:58):
Yeah it doesn't do that.

Speaker 4 (23:01):
Yeah, I'm going to bring it in and it doesn't
do that if you are grossed out by the fact
that it's snail musin as well. There is vegan musins
on the market now. A really good one is the
BioMA Fido musin, which is thirty dollars.

Speaker 1 (23:14):
That one is stunning. I am, I haven't tried.

Speaker 5 (23:17):
I need to try this.

Speaker 1 (23:17):
Oh my goodness, it's so good.

Speaker 4 (23:19):
The Estura hydro serum is fifty dollars. Technically it's fifty one,
but you know that one is more of a hyaluronic acid,
but it's more I would say, it's way more moisturizing
than just it's got the extra serum.

Speaker 6 (23:32):
What a great Korean or Korean inspired brands in your list? Yeah, again,
so good for the price point and having that barrier focused.

Speaker 4 (23:40):
Exactly because my barrier, if it's impaired at all, then
it starts getting even flakier. The Notoria multi peptid cream
forty seven dollars. That was one of the coolest things
I've discovered this year.

Speaker 6 (23:51):
In the tube nough the tube one I don't find.
It's not moisturizing enough, it's not thick enough.

Speaker 4 (23:58):
You need to try the one in the tub because
and it's almost got like this pearl lescent. It's beautiful
one to make up as well. I am obsessed with
it and your dryes you too. I can use really
thick things under makeup and I'm absolutely fine. QV night
Cream an unsung hero seventeen dollars and thirty nine cents.
I've been talking about this for years. If you put
it in a luxury bottle, you would think it's a

(24:21):
luxury product, like it's just so beautiful. Sick a Plass
B five or the Serab Advanced Repair balm to lock
everything in. Or I'll pop that on just my dry
areas before I go to sleep, like my super dry areas.
If anywhere's a little bit crusty, great, and that will
under fifty dollars love that.

Speaker 5 (24:41):
Well, there we go. You've got your dry skin sorted.

Speaker 1 (24:50):
Beauty bites.

Speaker 4 (24:51):
I didn't bother bringing one because you haven't done one before.

Speaker 1 (24:56):
Maybe you've done it, No.

Speaker 6 (24:56):
I have, but I just I basically just boasted that.
Oh I've got so many, and I went right.

Speaker 4 (25:02):
I can't be bothered coming up with anything, so please
bring two.

Speaker 5 (25:06):
Okay, so I've got too summer.

Speaker 4 (25:09):
Beauty related beauty, but that's fantastic given it is.

Speaker 6 (25:13):
So it's coming up to this time of year when
I know we talk a lot about in beauty seasonal
seasonal skin care changes, YadA, yad, YadA. I'm more about
the practicality of summer beauty because there's a few common
things that anyone who, even if you're not a sweaty
gowl like me, summertime, we're sweating, yep.

Speaker 1 (25:34):
Sweaty and hairy.

Speaker 5 (25:36):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (25:37):
I don't know why I had to add.

Speaker 5 (25:38):
The hair, okay, so or asked.

Speaker 6 (25:42):
So there's a few things that always come up for
me this time of year. Humidity, sweating obviously, thigh chafe,
and just overall kind of extra greasiness. You know, hair
becomes a bit greasier, skin becomes a bit greasier and
earlier in summertime. So I want to just run through
some of my tried and tested summer you will yeah

(26:05):
hacks solutions. So number one for thigh chaf thigh chaf cream,
whether your thighs rub together or not, I guarantee in
summer time.

Speaker 4 (26:14):
Like everyone's to even if you've got the skinniest thighs there,
but they still have to do.

Speaker 6 (26:19):
There's nothing that ruins your day faster than thigh chaf
and so a couple of options you've got. And when
I used to live in Sydney as well, it's much
more humid here, thank goodness.

Speaker 5 (26:30):
It's not humid in Melbourne. But when you're like walking
to and from the train to get to work, oh
my god, I'm literally like crying thing about it.

Speaker 6 (26:38):
It's the Neat three B. It's either three B cream.
You can get it in a tub, but you can
get it in a tube. It's essentially a body antiperspirant.
It's really like for runners. It's the old school version,
cheap and cheerful from the chemist. Don't put that on
chafed skin. You use this to avoid thigh chaf and
literally your thighs will just.

Speaker 5 (27:01):
Glide. So stealty. Yeah, there's lots of other brands too.

Speaker 6 (27:05):
There's ones that are a lot cuter, like Babe Do
a chaf stick. There's Scoop Skincare. There's so many different ones.
But it's like that extra step in your morning routine,
but you're gonna thank me for it again. The other
option is kind of anti chaf shorts.

Speaker 1 (27:23):
You wear a lot of slip skirts, which are probably
part of the.

Speaker 7 (27:26):
I know that.

Speaker 5 (27:26):
And this is so funny.

Speaker 6 (27:27):
When I went to Europe on my honeymoon, I didn't
take my own advice and I got really bad thighave
and I went into an Italian pharmacy and I was
trying to explain how do I do this and she
was like, trousers, Yeah, wear trousers, and I was like, yeah,
but even sometimes a police say a pair of plice pants.
And this is not a fashion podcast, but that's also

(27:48):
a great summer water option.

Speaker 5 (27:50):
But I'm a skirts person.

Speaker 4 (27:51):
If you're not watching on YouTube, but I'm always always
wearing a slip skirt.

Speaker 6 (27:56):
Yeah, And so the other option is some little shorts
to go under your skirts. Shorts yeah, so different to
bike shorts in that they're really think thin material and
typically meant to feel like you're not wearing anything. So
definitely not shape wear. But Booty have some great ones.
You can get them at a lot of different vices
as well. But that's like another good one if you're

(28:18):
not wanting to use chafe products. Okay, a fan in
the bathroom, so I'm talking about obviously there's desk fan.
You've got a fan when you're doing your makeup whatever,
But I'm talking about like a I wish i'd.

Speaker 5 (28:29):
Brought my Oh my goodness.

Speaker 1 (28:31):
I'm one of those that I love them.

Speaker 6 (28:35):
I have one of these in my bathroom and between skincare,
putting makeup on fanning like it makes a big difference
in terms of you just need that burst of cool
air to stop you from tipping over the edge into
I'm now overheating. And this is a problem, you know,
when you're doing your makeup and you start getting really
hot and it becomes an issue. Have one of those.

(28:58):
I have one in my bag, I have it at
my desk by my bathroom. I'm all about them all
over body deodorant, So I know that this is this
category is expanding. It is and there's lots of different
options under the tit yes under to tease. You can
live that, yep. So that's a great product to swap
into your routine. Wash your hair at night, this is

(29:19):
I actually do this all the time. But again, I
can't think of anything worse than blow drying my hair
in the morning on a hot day. So blow dray
your hair at night and pop it in a silk bonnet.
Remember back in the day when I used to talk
about my silk bonnet.

Speaker 1 (29:32):
God, I forgot about that. So you're an early adopter,
I was.

Speaker 6 (29:37):
I there's obviously silk pillowcase, but this is more to
actually like hold your blowwave, but do that to avoid
any kind of hot air hot tools in the morning.
And then the last one I need to say is
about feet. So recently there was a TikTok video on
the Mama mea TikTok account that was asking people do
you wash your feet in the shower?

Speaker 5 (29:58):
Yes? No, do you wash your feet yes?

Speaker 1 (30:02):
Otherwise they would be dirty.

Speaker 5 (30:04):
So some people just you know, let the soap go
down the la whatever. This is why I hate people's feet.

Speaker 6 (30:10):
So I just gotta say, you need to be actually
washing your feet in summertime because you're wearing open toad shoes,
your feet are sweating more bacteria and also just build
up with more.

Speaker 5 (30:24):
Dead skin because your feet are exposed.

Speaker 6 (30:27):
Guys, you've got to actually, like, yeah, whether it's just
get some soap in your hands and actually just or
use a washer or just whatever, you gotta wash your feet.

Speaker 5 (30:37):
And I would even go as far as to.

Speaker 6 (30:38):
Say that you should be exfoliating your like add a
bit of feet exfoliation into your summertime routine, just to
help a with that dead skin build up.

Speaker 4 (30:48):
You know, when you do your armpits, you could just
do your feet then, like with a glycolic as exactly.

Speaker 6 (30:53):
Either do it with scrub in the shower or do
it with yeah, your glycolic acid. Just just swipe, swipe across
the feet. It would also just help you know, it's
the build up of bacteria. The bacteria is what can
then make the smell. So that's just where I wanted
to bring today as some summer hacks.

Speaker 1 (31:11):
That was so helpful though, I loved it.

Speaker 5 (31:13):
Pleasure, thank you.

Speaker 6 (31:14):
And then my second beauty bite is related and it
will be a bit shorter, but I guess I wanted
to bring up the idea of you know, this time
of year, summertime, we're getting our limbs out.

Speaker 2 (31:25):
A bit more.

Speaker 6 (31:26):
It's when we start thinking about tanning. Number one, nobody
should be actually tanning. I think if you listen to
this podcast, you don't need to be told. But just
in case you're new here and you're not tan maxing.
You know, all of these kinds of things that the
kids are doing, we don't do that, absolutely not, But
it's the time of year when you start to look

(31:47):
in the mirror and you.

Speaker 5 (31:48):
Go, oh, like I feel like I'd look a bit.

Speaker 6 (31:51):
Better with some color on the skin, or you know,
you start doing your fake tan routine more.

Speaker 5 (31:57):
I have absolutely no judgment.

Speaker 6 (31:59):
Whatever you need to do to feel comfortable in your
own skin, you do. But I would love to recommend
a couple of creators people on Instagram that I follow,
who have made an active choice to stop fake tanning
because they want to.

Speaker 5 (32:15):
I guess, just like.

Speaker 4 (32:16):
Promile it, you don't need color to look good in
something correct.

Speaker 6 (32:21):
And I think for all of us it's intrinsically tied
to slimness skinniness, as in, like you look hotter. It's
esthetically like I look hotter with bronze skin. And we're
in Australia. You know.

Speaker 5 (32:33):
It's the beach girl vibe.

Speaker 6 (32:36):
So if it makes you feel more confident, absolutely, But
I'd love to share these people who are challenging that
within themselves. So one is our dear friend Lucy Neville.
So At Lucy M Neville. She has stopped doing tanning
for a couple of years now. She goes to shoots
like she does modeling, and she goes to Shoots without Town.

(32:56):
So another one is Hannah Collingwood pod friend of the Pod,
and these are just great people to follow, by the way,
in general.

Speaker 1 (33:04):
Just Amy Klark and look, I.

Speaker 6 (33:07):
Have never been a tenor, mostly because I'm so lazy,
and like we said it in a previous episode, I
hate the smell of self tenners if you just want
to see some more like fair skinned gowls in your feet.
And then Belle Bauer is fantastic. So she actually lost
her father to a skin cancer and she has been posting.

Speaker 2 (33:26):
A lot Melbourne.

Speaker 1 (33:27):
I haven't heard of her.

Speaker 5 (33:28):
She is based in Queensland.

Speaker 6 (33:30):
Okay, and that's even again, so this is kind of
like in Queensland, you know, it's sunny all the time,
there's a lot of.

Speaker 5 (33:37):
Probably societal pressure to have a tan.

Speaker 6 (33:41):
And I just have loved you know, she's going to
weddings and actually posting about those times when you would say,
oh I should get a spray tan for this, Oh
I should be tanning for this event to go on holiday.
So yeah, just recommend following all of those goals in general.
As I said, no judgment, but I love that.

Speaker 2 (33:59):
That's really thought.

Speaker 1 (34:00):
Yeah, that's really good.

Speaker 4 (34:01):
Amy, Thank you well, we will be back in urism
eyes soon and in the meantime follow us on all
of the socials.

Speaker 5 (34:09):
See you next time.

Speaker 2 (34:10):
Bye, m h

Speaker 7 (34:16):
M hmmm.
