And Erin's putting an unexpected multitasker to the test – a single product for lips, cheeks, eyes, and contour? If it works, it could seriously cut down your beauty routine.

Speaker 1 (00:10):
So much.

Speaker 2 (00:10):
You're listening to a MoMA Mia podcast.

Speaker 3 (00:13):
Mama Mia acknowledges the traditional owners of land and waters
that this podcast is recorded on.

Speaker 4 (00:20):
Makeup is My Therapy.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
I'm obsessed and I don't even feel guilty about it.

Speaker 3 (00:27):
Hello, and welcome to Tried and Tested, the show where
we put new products, treatments, and hacks to the test
so you don't have to unless they are really worth it.

Speaker 1 (00:37):
I'm m Vernon, I am Vernon.

Speaker 2 (00:40):
Hi'm Aaron Dougherty. And tell me what hack you're bringing
in today.

Speaker 3 (00:44):
Okay, I am bringing a skincare hack. It's like a
cleansing hack that promises to remove blackheads and sebaceous filaments,
which is what you taught me about. It's meant to
take them out, leaving your skin super smooth.

Speaker 2 (00:56):
Okay, I really want to try that because my skin
has been freaking out lately. I have a makeup hack today,
which is weird for me because I feel like I'm
always doing skincare hacks. But this one involves using lipstick
for your entire face, your whole makeup look.

Speaker 4 (01:11):
I'm really keen to.

Speaker 3 (01:12):
I feel like that's really good because sometimes you just
have a lipstick in your bag and you need to
make it way.

Speaker 4 (01:17):
I hope. We love a multipurpose product.

Speaker 3 (01:19):
Testing justing one to three?

Speaker 1 (01:23):
Did it work?

Speaker 4 (01:25):
Okay, you get started.

Speaker 3 (01:26):
This requires an oil cleanser. The one I use is
called may No.

Speaker 4 (01:31):
Where did you get it from?

Speaker 3 (01:32):
I got it from a Korean beauty store around my area.
She really sold it to me. That sales assistant to say,
job and did it? She did a job because this
cleanser was seventy dollars.

Speaker 1 (01:43):
Whow.

Speaker 3 (01:44):
It was a massive one though, like I think, like
lead a bottle of oil.

Speaker 1 (01:48):
It was like that.

Speaker 4 (01:49):
I love how you're like justifying this. I'm like, and
that was so it's so expensive.

Speaker 3 (01:53):
So I don't know where the original video came from,
but there's heaps of tiktoks that show using an oil
or a cleansing oil. It pulls out their sebaceous filaments
and blackheads, so you don't actually need to squeeze them out.
And what they do is cleans their face and then
they show the camera their hand and you can see
all of the little oily stuff on their hands and

(02:13):
I was like, I need to try this because I
have massive pause. You can see them from space. Love
them sometimes I don't, Okay, sometimes I want to.

Speaker 1 (02:20):
Get rid of them.

Speaker 3 (02:21):
So I've been using this oil cleanser. It's called Maneo
Pure Cleansing Oil. And what I do is, at the
end of the day, I rub it on my face,
look at my hands, and all of my subacious filaments.

Speaker 4 (02:32):
Are there, so you can actually see you can see.

Speaker 3 (02:34):
Them they come out, and I think they come out
because it's oil versus oil.

Speaker 2 (02:38):
Right question, Yeah, how long do you have to massage
it in for? And obviously you can use any oil cleanser, right.

Speaker 3 (02:45):
Yeah, yeah, Okay, here's the thing, so you can do
it for just a few minutes. Like I double clans,
so more of them come out in the second clans
because the first clan's taking my makeup stuff off.

Speaker 2 (02:54):
So I guess for the people though that always use
oil cleansers and they're like, dude, I still.

Speaker 1 (02:59):
Have like what are you talking about?

Speaker 2 (03:01):
My face have black head central? Why does this work differently?

Speaker 1 (03:06):
Okay? I think it's all about the feeling in your fingertips.

Speaker 3 (03:09):
So when I like cleansing, say my cheek area near
my nose, because that's where I have my biggest pause.
I feel like those hard bits and then if I
just keep rubbing in that direction, I can feel them
getting smaller and then like slowly leaving, and then you
feel slowly.

Speaker 1 (03:24):
Getting out of here, which they should.

Speaker 2 (03:26):
So I feel with this this is more in the
technique obviously. Yeah, maybe it's a case of when you're
cleansing your face, you're actually supposed to stick to the
two minute one minute rule and not just quickly splash
it on, wash it off and get the hell out
of that.

Speaker 1 (03:42):
You can only do it for a few minutes.

Speaker 3 (03:43):
But the issue is is that I kind of get
a bit addicted to seeing the stuff comeout, so you
go too hard.

Speaker 1 (03:50):
I go a bit too.

Speaker 3 (03:51):
Hard, and my facialist has said that I am kind
of weakening my skin barrier facialist. My facialist, she's like,
she's like, have you been rubbing your face? I'm like, yes,
because I also have roseasia, so I'm trying to treat
that at the same time, so I shouldn't be rubbing
my face.

Speaker 1 (04:05):
So when you do do it, do it really lightly?

Speaker 4 (04:07):
So do you mainly do it around your nose or like, yeah,
it mainly.

Speaker 3 (04:11):
On my forehead, cheeks and nose.

Speaker 1 (04:13):
But it's still a cleanser, right, so it's still cleansing.

Speaker 2 (04:15):
Get them round my chin. I would love to try
this hack. I have a similar one that I do,
but I use you know, like the laroche pose barm.
Oh my god, Yes, you use on your nose. Yeah
and wha, like a good amount on and then the
next morning your paws and those sabaceous filaments are way
less visible.

Speaker 3 (04:35):
Whoa, Oh my god, maybe they should like pair up.

Speaker 4 (04:39):
So that's a nail.

Speaker 1 (04:40):
That's a nail.

Speaker 4 (04:42):
You're glowing.

Speaker 3 (04:43):
It's a nail for me, girl. I see you've got
some products here.

Speaker 4 (04:55):
I see you have brought your hotel.

Speaker 2 (04:57):
My trend involves using lipstick as the main product for
your entire face, your blush, eyeeshadow countering lipstick.

Speaker 1 (05:05):
I'm obsessed with this.

Speaker 2 (05:06):
I don't even contur usually, but anyway, this has caught
my eye. I love quick makeup, I love multipurpose products,
and I'm always like, it does make sense because lipstick
it's a ten.

Speaker 4 (05:18):
You can use it for lips, cheeks. Yeah, you know
this is everywhere.

Speaker 2 (05:21):
I first came across it on TikToker Sophia Grace's account.
She does the most incredible makeup looks, but it just
looked really cute and fun and easy.

Speaker 4 (05:32):
And I love easy.

Speaker 2 (05:34):
So as I said, it's supposed to basically cut your
routine in half, cut the products in half, and it's
supposed to be great for like on the go and
showing how you can use lipstick as like a multipurpose product.
The only risk I feel would be looking sunburn. I've
tried similar hacks to these before, and I have got
like pink skin, so I feel.

Speaker 1 (05:56):
Like you have to get the shade right.

Speaker 2 (05:58):
You've got to get the shade right, and I don't
want to look like I've got a rash.

Speaker 3 (06:02):
No, And I also feel like the color I put
on my lips would be different to the color i'd
put on my cheeks.

Speaker 2 (06:07):
On your cheeks, yeah, I've got a beauty so you've
obviously got to blend it in. I feel like this
is going to be a trust the process kind of thing.
So you need a lipstick, huh, that's nice color. It
is so nice. This is an Elizabeth Arden lipstick. It
is shade zero zero eight breathless.

Speaker 1 (06:25):
Oh.

Speaker 2 (06:26):
I've also got a mac Matte lipstick, but I want
to kind of stay away from Matt. I think only
because I've got really dry skin. They start on the
bridge of their nose. You do two lines on your foreheads.

Speaker 4 (06:43):
Trusting the process, I really am.

Speaker 2 (06:44):
I always go too hard. This is like my biggest downfall.
You've got two vertical lines either side of your forehead
and two lines on your cheekbones. They put like a
little bit on their loops obviously, they do their eyes, okay,
and they do a little bit under their eyes as well,

(07:05):
and they put a little bit.

Speaker 4 (07:06):
On their chin.

Speaker 2 (07:07):
But I've got a little bum chin, but also have
lots of breakouts, So I'm just going to put a
tiny bit there.

Speaker 4 (07:13):
We go.

Speaker 1 (07:13):
Look, I'm gonna be honest right now. I'm not a bit.
I'm not puff.

Speaker 4 (07:18):
Okay, So I guess I'll just stop blending. I hope, So, I.

Speaker 3 (07:21):
Hope, so babe, Okay, So while I'm like mesmerized by you.

Speaker 4 (07:24):
Doing this, it's me blending my life.

Speaker 1 (07:26):
You've worked in this industry for a while.

Speaker 3 (07:28):
Yeah, surely you have like a dream name for a product,
Like if you had to invent ellipstick, what would that
lipstick be called?

Speaker 4 (07:36):
What would it be called?

Speaker 1 (07:37):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (07:38):
The red rocket?

Speaker 1 (07:42):
Do you know what a red rocket is?

Speaker 4 (07:43):
I know but it's kind of like nas orgasm, you know,
dog's penis. I thought it would be funny. What would
you call yours?

Speaker 3 (07:51):
Probably midnight in the desert. I like to take up
a lot of real estate on the lipstick.

Speaker 4 (07:57):
I thought we were being funny. Now weird. What do
we feel so far? I don't think, be honest, I don't.

Speaker 3 (08:11):
Okay, I think it works for eyeshadow lipstick obviously, cheeks.

Speaker 4 (08:16):
Okay, The chin is a bit red, the forehead's a
bit red.

Speaker 2 (08:20):
Overall, I think my skin tight is not the best
one for this.

Speaker 3 (08:24):
I think it looks good. No, I actually think it
looks good. I wouldn't I would say avoid the contouring lines,
but I think that looks great.

Speaker 2 (08:32):
I think next time I would avoid the chin. I
wouldn't go so hard on the forehead. But around the eyes, dah,
that's nice.

Speaker 1 (08:40):
It's like an eyeshadow.

Speaker 3 (08:42):
And this is giving me hope that if I just
have a lipstick in my bag, I can make do.

Speaker 2 (08:45):
And you see so many of these videos, like I
keep seeing these girls on like these Italian vacations on
a speedboat to like a fancy island doing their entire
makeup with one little lipstick.

Speaker 1 (08:56):
I'm like, I want to do it like.

Speaker 4 (08:58):
This for some reason. I have no idea why.

Speaker 3 (09:00):
Maybe we need to try it again. But we go
on a boat in Italy. That's if mom and me
would just like to send us ticket.

Speaker 4 (09:10):
That would be great. All right, it's kind of.

Speaker 1 (09:12):
I think it nail. I'm gonna say nail.

Speaker 4 (09:14):
Are you going to say nail? Yeah, I'm going to
say can I say half and half?

Speaker 1 (09:18):
Okay? Maybe if you want, I want to say nail
for you.

Speaker 2 (09:22):
My tip would be not to go so hard and
it's a trust the process, the process.

Speaker 4 (09:26):
You really got a blend. So there we go.

Speaker 2 (09:30):
So I'm sure by that you're like, did I actually
just give that a pass? Well, all right, guys, that's
