Speaker 1 (00:10):
So you're listening to Amma Mia podcast.
Speaker 2 (00:13):
Mama Mia acknowledges the traditional owners of land and waters
that this podcast is recorded on Makeup is My Therapy.
I'm in love, I'm obsessed, and I don't even feel
guilty of body. Hello and welcome to you Beauty the
Daily Podcast for Your Face.
Speaker 1 (00:32):
I am Lee Campbell, I'm Kelly McCarran and Lee has
just pointed out the date and it's the middle of wink. Well, no,
it's not the middle of winter. It's the start of winter.
Speaker 2 (00:40):
It's almost easy.
Speaker 1 (00:41):
Basically, we're almost halfway through.
Speaker 2 (00:43):
Now, I kind of met the end of financial yew one.
So if you've had a shit year, do you know
what I do every year? If I've had a shit
first half of the year, I buy.
Speaker 1 (00:49):
Some lots of truth.
Speaker 2 (00:50):
Well, Becausin's tax deduction, yes, but I count that, you know,
end of financial years like yeah.
Speaker 1 (00:56):
And also end of financial sales, even if they're not
tax deductions, it's still free.
Speaker 2 (01:00):
Yes, Okay, very good. So you might want to buy something.
We suggest today it's a Monday. We answer your questions.
You send them in. Our wonderful team sifts through them.
Actually they have to send us all of them, We
speak them, then we try and help you out. So
what are we doing today? My friends?
Speaker 1 (01:13):
Well today? Later on the episode, we do have a
question from a ub that I think ninety nine percent
of people can relate to at some point in their life.
But first a question. Lee and I will have very
different opinions on. I couldn't help, but wonder ask me anything?
Speaker 2 (01:29):
You ask many questions.
Speaker 1 (01:31):
Honey has emailed us this is awkward, but I need
to break up with my eyebrow lady. We chat like
friends and she's lovely, but her work hasn't been great lately.
How do I end things without burning bridges or making
it super uncomfortable?
Speaker 2 (01:44):
Honey? This is not enough information. I need to know.
Do you message or communicate outside of your appointments? Or
is she lovely to chat to while you're having your
brows done and that's the extent of your relationship?
Speaker 1 (01:57):
Does it matter? Wait?
Speaker 2 (01:58):
Okays, it matters. How long have you been going to her?
Do you follow each other on social media? Do your
friends go there? I need to know all of this.
Are you in a tiny town where there's two eyebrow people?
Do you live a new city where there's a millionaire.
You'll never see each other again. It's so hard. I
went through this. I'm not going to name the profession,
but I went through this after decades, and I decided
to what did you do? I'm not telling on the thing.
(02:22):
Well on I semi ghosted, and I feel sick about it,
but I didn't know what to do.
Speaker 1 (02:28):
How do you semi ghost?
Speaker 2 (02:30):
Well, I ghosted and then I was asked what's happening?
And oh no, don't ask So I kind of live
my life on social media. So anyway, my question is
if you just think she's lovely to chat to, but
you don't communicate outside, just go elsewhere. If you've been
going for like more than five years and all your
friends go there, and or you follow each other on
(02:51):
social media, I just wouldn't book in. And then if
it comes up like you don't have to say Hi, Mary,
I've got something to tell.
Speaker 1 (02:57):
You've been doing awful.
Speaker 2 (02:59):
Drop and now I'm going to felicity Like it doesn't
have to be that. You say burning bridges. I don't
think that's a bridge to burn. It's a transaction. You're
paying for a service. Of course, you don't want to
be an awful I just sorry if you say that, oh,
you know, last time they were two thin or whatever,
of course they're going to want to correct their work
and have another chance. I don't know. I just if
you don't really know them and no one goes, they're
(03:20):
just ghosts, which is awful. It's not ghosting, it's just
like going somewhere else. But if you know there are
an acquaintance and your friends go there, then I think
you need to make me tell a lie.
Speaker 1 (03:31):
Oh lies a fie?
Speaker 2 (03:33):
Oh good, okay, what do you know, lie?
Speaker 1 (03:35):
Lie? So what I would do because I'm actually in
a very similar situation at the moment, but with a
non beauty related service.
Speaker 2 (03:42):
Okay, the thing is is.
Speaker 1 (03:44):
That would I like to know, Like if someone was
really unhappy with the service that I provide, I would
be mortified and I would want to know.
Speaker 2 (03:52):
But that's not what she I don't want to be
the person telling like.
Speaker 1 (03:56):
That's what I mean. Yeah, I'm like absolutely, But do
I actually have the balls to have that conversation myself?
Absolutely not. No, I simply do not. So what I
would do. I would just tell her that you can't
afford it anymore and that you'll be doing your own brows.
So what if she's like, Okay, great, I'll do it
for ten dollars, she won't.
Speaker 2 (04:11):
No one would do that. What you could do is,
I mean, I love that we're coming with lies. Is
you could be like, oh, you know, my sister's now
training to be a beauty therapist, so she's trialing on
me like something that's not it's a white lie.
Speaker 1 (04:21):
But just say that you're doing them meself. She would
still rather do it herself than pay ten dollars even,
I guess, so like I just think, say you're going
to be doing it yourself. You're going to cut costs.
There's a cost of living crisis. You're not pain.
Speaker 2 (04:33):
What if honey is code for like Margo Robbie. What
if she's really rich.
Speaker 1 (04:38):
We don't know people's finances. That's true, she could outwardly
be very rich.
Speaker 2 (04:43):
I just I hate to say this, but I just
think sometimes we should think like a man like my
husband would not think twice about not going like changing
hair people if he didn't like his haircut.
Speaker 1 (04:52):
But I also wouldn't have the conversation.
Speaker 2 (04:54):
That's my point. But it's like, I love that women
care and that you know so much of the service
industry and the beauty industry is women being kind and
having connections. You know, they're like your therapists, you brow
people in your hair person. But at the end of
the day, if you don't love it, I just give break,
maybe book and try somewhere else. And also forever it
(05:14):
might go back.
Speaker 1 (05:15):
Then the other person might be even more You might
end up with sperm brows. I also think like we
need to remember that you are thinking like, oh no,
blah blah blah. If they're a service based industry, I'm
sure she's got so many clients she probably won't notice
or not. It's not going to drastically affect her. Just
(05:36):
tell her you've moved to somewhere else. I think that's
too hard of a lie. Then they're running to each other.
Speaker 2 (05:40):
Get a wig.
Speaker 1 (05:41):
No, no, you're taking it too far. Just simply tell
her you cannot afford it.
Speaker 2 (05:45):
Okay, We hope that helps. I'd love to hear the Yubids.
This question comes up a lot in the Ubi grip.
Speaker 1 (05:50):
Well, but all people like you've got to have the conversation.
You know what, most of us don't have the balls.
Speaker 2 (05:54):
I don't even have that conversation with my husband when
he's annoying me, I'll just give him the sign treatment. Okay,
so that probably wasn't very helpful, but we're going to
try and help.
Speaker 1 (06:01):
I think we've just encouraged it a lie.
Speaker 2 (06:05):
We're going to try it and help someone after the
break with their puffy, tired eyes, and I feel you.
Speaker 1 (06:15):
So this email from Jazzy is the one that I
reference that ninety nine percent of us can relate to.
At some point, I thought it was the breaking up
with people. Oh but actually both my eyes constantly look
tight and puffy, even when I've had a decent sleep.
What products or techniques would you recommend to brighten up
the eye area? Are I creams worth the investment or
are there other tricks I should try?
Speaker 2 (06:37):
Oh? My god, me too. I cannot tell you, Jazzy,
how much I can relate to this right now. We've
talked many times over the years how lifestyle factors contribute
to puffiness. So a high salt diet which I have, alcohol,
which I don't have a lot of, but in my forties,
even two glasses of wine will make me look puffy
and weird. So what you could do is just watch
your salt intake sleep on a high appillow. You know
(06:59):
you can get those memory foonelebate, yes, because you want
your head to be higher than your body so that
the circulation like doesn't pull around your eyes. But I'm
having this problem a lot too. My eyes are incredibly
itch at this time of year, and I think also perimenopause.
And when I wake up before I remember to not
do it, I love rubbing my eyes.
Speaker 1 (07:17):
And then feel so good. It's like cleaning the inside
of your ears.
Speaker 2 (07:19):
Oh gosh, but you're not meant to go that hard anyway.
Some things that have helped me are the Buttapacific puffy
eye gel. You can get that on adoor beauty. It's
ninety nine dollars. It's expensive. You're gonna put it on
in the morning and go oh yeah. But it's when
you don't use it that you realize quite how great
it is. If I have been doing a lot, a
lot of rubbing and my eyes are kind of creepy
(07:41):
and irritated underneath because I'm so tired and dry, I
use Larochepa's a tolerene i cream and that is designed
for really sensitive eyes. It protects and sues the eye
area while reducing puffiness. I use that a lot these days.
Even if I'm, you know, going somewhere mid afternoon, I
need to refresh my makeup because my face just looks
like a raisin. I was gonna say something else. I'll
just tap a little bit of that under my eyes.
(08:03):
It's really nice forty two ninety five. Then you could
also try, which I love, the James cous Mex dpuff
eye mask. Kelly and I both love these products. They're
they're like little what are they called, like not silicon
but like white, single use biodegradable under eye masks. I
always do this before I'm doing a makeup for something fancy,
and they do have a dpuff specific version. You get
(08:27):
five packs for thirty five dollars. It does feel quite active.
You'll feel that it's on, but my undereye always looks
heaps nicer. If I'm gonna bother go somewhere fancy, I
wouldn't do it every single day. I would also just
quickly assess your makeup and see if that's you might
be having a slight irritation if you're puffy. I don't know.
You might know, obviously you'll know better than we do.
(08:48):
But there's a really great mascara I recommended before that
was developed by an ophthalmologist.
Speaker 1 (08:54):
Oh, I remember you talking about that that had the
braille on the side of it.
Speaker 2 (08:57):
Yes, it's got braill on it for people that are
vision impaired. It's called Oki. Oh and Prioritize mascara. It's
in black forty nine to fifty and they just launched brown.
So I've got a lot of friends that wear contact
lenses or just have really sensitive eyes, and they love
that because it could be you know, some of your
makeup and last, but not least. When I was researching this,
I bought this because you know, you want to look
(09:18):
alive and brightened and less tired in the morning. So
an under eye corrector as opposed to kind of a
thick conceala would be good. Just something light to brighten
the area. I found the embry Le's Radiant Eye Cooling stick,
so it's like a little it looks like a little
lip gloss and you swipe it under your eyes and
it's got that brightening, kind of peachy color, but it's
also cooling an anti put. Haven't tried it yet, but
(09:40):
I love Embreyles and all their products. So I clicked
and added to kat last night, and so I will
report back. But there's if you just type in under
eye brightener you'll find heaps.
Speaker 1 (09:51):
Kelly and I love the Becke love under eye brighteners.
What do you think in Keil, Well, I'm wondering if
she's thought about allergies. Yeah, like sometimes they can come on.
You might not have ever had allergies before, but they
can come on at different stages in your life. So
I mean, of course, maybe go to the doctor, but
taken anti hist mean you just buy them from the
pharmacy in the morning for a couple of days and
(10:12):
just see if it helps. Because it might be bedding
like dust mighty mighty new pillows. I'm yuilty of holding
onto my pillows for way too long because in your
sheets and changing your pillow cases enough, yes.
Speaker 2 (10:23):
Because that can make your eyes puffee a lot, you know.
I find that if I stay somewhere that I'm not
used to, like the bedding or it's I don't know
how clean it is, I do wake up puffy cold.
Compress cold little icy things that we were talking about
last week that will really help with puffiness. And the
only product I was thinking of was that nude liner
that you love from I heard, yes, the raw. No
(10:44):
it's not the I heard one. That's the liquid liner.
It's a raw. It's an Australian company and it's like
a I don't know because I haven't had to buy
one because you gave it, because I buy in bolt
because I'm worried they're going to stop making it. It's
like this really good nude, nutty beige and you do
with the inner room and it kind of takes the
redness out and just makes your eyes look a bit brighter.
And on that note, I would just avoid any underrye
(11:04):
like liner or mascar, because it can just make your
eyes look smaller if you're very tired. I've got tiny
so I never really do underry stuff. And hopefully you
can get some more sleep. I mean, I know you
said you're having decent sleep, but hopefully that helps. All right,
after the brain I've.
Speaker 1 (11:21):
Got to not what to do? Host haac.
Speaker 2 (11:23):
I love those ones?
Speaker 1 (11:31):
What a hack?
Speaker 2 (11:33):
You makeup?
Speaker 1 (11:34):
Hacks?
Speaker 2 (11:35):
All right? What shouldn't we do? Well?
Speaker 1 (11:37):
There's a TikTok trend at the moment where people ask
for They'll be like, I'm bored, tell me your most
unhinged at like whatever hack it is, so it'll be
in all different categories. And I've seen a bunch of
beauty related ones, like they'll say, tell me what your
most unhinged but effective beauty hack is very interesting in
(11:58):
the comment sections, but please, this is your reminder to
take them with a grain of salt.
Speaker 2 (12:04):
Because are they recommending them? Well, the comment section is like,
it is the person saying, this is my own hinge thing,
I use dog food as a hair mask. Are they
then recommending it?
Speaker 1 (12:13):
Well, no, it's the people in the comment section that
are well, they're not recommending it. They're just saying, this
is what's worked really well for me. A bit left center, okay, unusual,
unusual exactly. But please, let's not just do everything that
we see, because yesterday I no joke saw a comment
from someone that they use DEBTL to wash their face
(12:37):
and that their skin has never looked better and have
even cleared their acne.
Speaker 2 (12:40):
Up, And oh, my lord, of course it did, because
you don't have whole skin barrier off.
Speaker 1 (12:44):
You do not have skin anymore, my dear, you are
just a face walking a skeleton walking around.
Speaker 2 (12:50):
Goodness.
Speaker 1 (12:50):
Yeah, no, So just let's not listen to let's not
just read things and then take it as verbatim.
Speaker 2 (12:56):
And unfortunately that's how the algorithm works. You know, just
a lovely, glowing review for a regular cleanser isn't shocking
or going to grab anyone's attention. But saying I do this.
Speaker 1 (13:05):
I as an antiseptic, Yes, to cleanse my floor cleaner.
Speaker 2 (13:10):
Yeah, so always just go interesting but.
Speaker 1 (13:13):
And WHOA won't be trying that? Yeah, this has been
really innocuous, which of course you can try by Yeah.
Other than that, let's just read it and have a
bit of a giggle.
Speaker 2 (13:21):
But yes, I think I live in the comment sections
of everything.
Speaker 1 (13:24):
Honest, the comment sections of my face.
Speaker 2 (13:26):
It's like a TV show for me.
Speaker 1 (13:27):
Riches like let's go to bed so funny, and.
Speaker 2 (13:29):
I'm like, I can't. I'm what I'm reading this banter? Well,
my host Tac is firstly an apology to you about
the bobby pins. There was many kids, so.
Speaker 1 (13:37):
Many people DMed me and said thanks cal I went
and bought some.
Speaker 2 (13:41):
Yes, well now they can put them in my bobby
pin holder.
Speaker 1 (13:44):
So I did you bring it into show?
Speaker 2 (13:46):
No? I didn't it. I trying to get another one
because I found so many goddamn bobby pins. I'm mid
spring cleaning, except for in winter. It's called the Kitsch
Magnetic Bobby Pin Holder. Oh my god, it's magnetic. That's
the whole point your tour. Why would you put them
in something that wasn't. So it's like a little black
cube and it's like if anyone's ever done sewing that
(14:06):
you can get them for pins. You just chuck your
bobby pin on it or hear it and they just
stay on there. So now I've got one in the
bathroom and the bedroom because I had too many bobby pins's.
Speaker 1 (14:16):
But they were everywhere in my cat no at choit
Akio is it akio or chow the spell where they
it comes towards it.
Speaker 2 (14:25):
Yeah, that's what this thing does. But if you've got
metal brushes, be careful because like they want to stick
to it too, like you make up brushes, but they're
just so handy and then you'll you know, I've got
one in two rooms. I got one for my best
friend because she's got two little girls. There's one in
their bathroom now and now she doesn't have two five
year old twins saying badends. So we'll link in the
show notes love that time of recording. It's eighteen ninety
(14:45):
eight and they just chic little black things to hit
it on your bedside table. So once you've bought bobby
pins as per Kelly's instructions, now put them on my
little black magnet box.
Speaker 1 (14:55):
I love this. Yeah, all right, we'll be back in
your ears together on Friday.
Speaker 2 (14:59):
But for the will, I've got to get out all okay,
So if you've got a question, slide into our dms
at Ubudy Podcasts and our fabulous team will pass them
