Speaker 1 (00:04):
From the News Talks Hebby Newsroom, this is newsfacs. In
this update, disability providers say they could go out of
business without the government's help funding wage increases. Unions and
employers are two and a half years into negotiating a
pay equity claim for community support workers, but at Disability
Support Network survey shows ninety six percent of providers could

(00:25):
not afford any wage rise without government funding. Chief Executive
Peter Reynolds says progressing the claims important, but will need
the government to come to the party.

Speaker 2 (00:34):
It's upsetting for support workers who want to be able
to do the job but don't get paid appropriately for it.

Speaker 1 (00:41):
The Prime Minister's international travel plans have been somewhat waylaid
by a minor breakdown while refueling in Papua New Guinea
the New Zealand Defense Air for seven five seven plane

it'll likely take only an hour to fix. The Prime
Minister and his delegation are still expected to land in
Tokyo later tonight. Russian President Vladimir Putin's proposals for peace

(01:04):
in Ukraine have been slammed at a gathering of world
leaders in Switzerland. Heads of state from around the world
have converged to show support for Ukraine, but Putin's demands
for the end of the war have been ignored by
the summit. Otager University international relations expert Robert Patman says
Putin's proposal is laughable, not serious all.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
I mean, let's be quite clear, mister Putin can stop
this conflict within twenty four hours by withdrawing Russian forces
to the internationally recognized borders of Russia.

Speaker 1 (01:31):
The third Armageddon Winter Expo is on in Auckland this weekend.

Always somebody that people want to see because one person,
oh my god, I can't believe that person's there is
another person's I don't know who. That is a nice
mixture of different kinds of celebrity.

Speaker 1 (02:00):
That's news. In sport, defending champions England remain alive at
the twenty twenty Cricket World Cup courtesy of Australia claiming
a five wicket win over Scotland in Saint Lucier. The
Scots needed to beat Australia to advance to the Super
Eight at England's expense, and with the Australian seventy four
for three after ten overs chasing one hundred and eighty

(02:21):
one to win, that appeared a real possibility. But sixty
eight from Travis Head, fifty nine off twenty nine balls
to Marcus Stoyness and twenty four off fourteen to Tim
David saw Australia home with two balls to spare. The
Edmonton Oilers have kept Ice Hockey Stanley Cup Series alive
with an emphatic eight one win in Game four of

(02:42):
the series against the Florida Panthers. The Panthers lead the
series three to one, with Game five coming up on Wednesday.
