Good afternoon. I'm Susie Nordquist. This is your midday news
fix for Thursday, the twenty ninth of August. A twenty
six year old man has been charged with murder following
the death of a fifty four year old scientist in Auckland.
Jordan Dunn has more.

Stephen Thorpe, a highly regarded entomologist, died in a violent
attack in the Blockhouse Bayed Tennis Club car park on Saturday.
Po Lease say they arrested the suspect during an overnight
search warrant at a nearby address on x Minster Street.
No one else is being sought after and the accused
is due to a peer in Auckland District Court today.

The Green Party Sunday meeting is not going ahead after
legal action. Delegates had planned to vote on whether to
invoke the Waker jumping law to boot former Party MP
Darling Tana from parliament. Jordan Dunn has been at court.

Darling Tana made an eleventh hour attempt to hold her
position by filing an injunction against her former party at
the High Court in Auckland. This morning, Council for the
Green Party and Tana revealed that agreed overnight to call
the meeting off. An interram injunction is in place until
another hearing date in two weeks.

A Dunedin man has been arrested after allegedly posing as
a young person online. The twenty two year old is
accused of deceiving young people and descending him sexualized content.
In New Zealand's annual underlying profit has more than half
compared to last year. It says the six months to

if the international visitor levee is hiked. Consultation is open

The Italian investigation into the deadly sinking of the unsinkable
super yacht could drag on for a while. New Zealand
born captain James Cutfield has been investigating for possible manslaughter charges.
He's being advised by two Italian lawyers and has so
far exercised his right to silence. Italy correspondent Joe mckennit

says the investigation could take some time as the yacht
needs to be brought to the surface.

Before they do that, they have to secure the fuel
supplies to make sure there's no leakage. That could take
several weeks.
