From the News Talks edby Newsroom. This is Newsfecs in
this update hopes the government's potential building sector shake up
will be a big time and money saver. It's name
three options for streamlining the consenting process. These include establishing
regional consenting authorities to replace the sixty seven that we
currently have. It follows a Master Builder's survey showing sixty

six percent of members experience delays with consenting. Building and
Construction Minister Chris Penk says the number is hard to quantify,
but a lot of savings will come from reducing delays, timers.

Money when you're building with those holding costs and particularly
in a high in rate environment, and we are looking
to do something about that as a government overall, as
part of our aim to rebuild the economy and get
interest rights down.

Speaker 1 (00:47):
New Zealand's hospitality sectors continuing to limp forward with a
slight year on year revenue growth. Restaurant Association's latest report
reveals the sector increased five point eight percent for the
year ending March. Seventy six percent of businesses reported worse
profits compared with the same period last year. For Auckland,
sales revenue droppedero point seven percent over the latest quarter.

CEO Marissa Bidwire says they're looking ahead.

Eyeing the positive changes and coming up potentially in quarter three,
including warmer weather, hopefully potential indust rate adjustments and stabilizing
of inflation.

Speaker 1 (01:22):
The Oceans and Fisheries ministers harving the catch limit of
one species in an effort to sustain its population. Shane
Jones is cutting the limit of orange ruffy caught in
the Tasman Sea by over twelve hundred tons. Blue Card
in Southland and John Dory in East Cape and Taranaki
will also have cuts to catch limits. Mister Jones says
he's changing them in the light of new scientific information.

He says orange ruffy take a long time to mature
and need substantial action to ensure longevity. One of Auckland's
most popular swimming beaches is now safe to swim at
after an earlier sewage overflow. The Black Flag Takapoouna and
Takapuna North Beaches warned of a very high risk of illness.
Judges Bay is still off limits. That's news. In Sport,

North Harbor has made history with a record breaking sixty
five nineteen home win over Canterbury and Rugby's NPC. It's
their largest margin ever over Canterbury and breaks a nine
match losing streak stretching back to twenty fourteen. It's also
the most points Canterbury's ever conceded in an NPC match.
All Blacks coach Scott Robertson's excited to see Cam Royguard

playing next weekend. The Hurricanes halfback will turn out for
Counties Monaco after six months sidelined with a serious knee injury.
Robertson says, with the Steelers right in the playoff mix,
Royguard should have a knockout game.
