Good afternoon. I'm Malcolm Jordan and this is your midday
NEWSFACS for Tuesday, the eighth of October. A christ Judgeman,
in his seventies has appeared in court charged with murdering
a woman in her Mount Pleasant home. A woman's body
was found at a property on Mount Pleasant Road about
five pm yesterday. Jamie Cunningham reports.

The man appeared before Judge Mark Callahan this morning. He's
been granted into renain suppression and reminded in custody without
plea for two and a half weeks. Police are establishing
the movements of the victim and accused from Friday morning
to Sunday afternoon.

A question mark over replacing naval vessel Manawanui, which sank
off Samoa on Sunday after hitting a reef and catching fire.
A Court of inquiry will establish what happened. Insurance will
help with clean up and salvage costs, but not ship replacement.
Chief of Navy Rear Admiral Garren Golding says his focus

supporting the cleanup and getting to the bottom of events.
He says the Navy won't decide on replacement, that's up
to the government to decide that as part of our
defense capability plan and that has been presented to them
in the coming months, and the last crew members from
