Speaker 1 (00:04):
Good afternoon. I'm railing Ramsey. This is your afternoon news
fix for Monday, the fourth of November. About two thousand
intermediate students will take part in a trial program to
accelerate their math skills. The government's announced it will test
the scheme in the first two terms of next year
for a group of years seven and eight students behind

(00:24):
in their learning. Political reporter to Melsa Jackson has more.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
Education Minister Erica Stanford says the trial will use small
group tutoring and supervised online tuition for thirty minutes up
to four times a week. It's expected to cost around
two million dollars and the results will be used to
determine how the program might be scaled up for term three.

Speaker 1 (00:46):
A man's appeared in court charged with murder after a
woman was fatally stabbed in West Auckland's Glen Eden last night.
Police say she was attacked at a Brandon Road property
shortly after eleven pm. Jacob Jones reports.

Speaker 3 (00:59):
The thirty five year old man was remanded in custody
and his interim name suppression. He will reappear in court
later this month. The man made no comment as he
stood in the dock wearing a blue boiler suit.

Speaker 1 (01:11):
A woman struck by a car as she walked to
dog in Levin yesterday was found seriously injured on the roadside.
The fifty four year old was hit on heavily east
road about four thirty pm and discovered by motorists nearly
an hour later. A motorist at the scene indicated they
saw tire marks where the woman was being treated. She'll
undergo surgery today. The dog is still missing. US presidential

two days before the election. His Georgia speech continued his
anti immigrant rhetoric, including proposing the death penalty for migrants
who kill an American. Is also claimed he shouldn't have

he's never conceded. Saint Anne's Kristen Holmes so her supporters

the election. I had one ally.

Speaker 3 (02:04):
I'd say to me, how hard is it to go
out there and just say, kabla, Harris broke it.

Speaker 1 (02:10):
I'm going to fix it. A medical center GP registrar
failed to establish a woman was pregnant before inserting a
Jedell contraceptive advice, a device I should say. Reports found
the woman's rights were breached after her realization she was
pregnant when it was fitted. It was removed a month

(02:30):
later and an apology letter sent. Health and Disability Commissioner
Rose Wall says it highlights the importance of reliable services.
She concluded the registrar didn't clearly establish whether the woman
could be pregnant or offer her a test. More uncertainty
about Wellington's social housing, king Ora has only now removed

(02:51):
all tenants from its one hundred and seventeen unit Dixon
Street Flats, closed two years ago. It says it hasn't
decided on the building's future, but News Talk said b

says it's one of many paused, stalled or canceled cuying
AURA projects.

Speaker 4 (03:11):
Represents a major decline in public housing. The Wellington here
is a really high demand and always seeing as building
after building after building closing down.

Speaker 1 (03:23):
In Sport, PowerNet writer Ken Watts has taken the second
stage of the Tour of Southland from Invercargil to Lumsdon.
Sam Jenner has the leader's orange jersey. Former Crusader's assistant
Andrew Goodman has been named back's coach of the Ireland
rugby team, head of Saturday's Test against the All Blacks
and former mentor Scott Robertson. Rugby Australia are reportedly considering

(03:48):
loaning x NRL star Joseph suer Lee back to the
Sydney Roosters in twenty twenty six, in between next year's
Lines Tour and the twenty twenty seven World Cup. Ramsey.
