Good afternoon, I'm railing Ramsey. This is your afternoon news
fix for Wednesday, the sixth of November. The US election
is in full swing, with only six polling stations still open.
As the count currently stands, Karmala Harris has eighty one
electoral votes Donald Trump one hundred and seventy two, but
it is still early days. Either needs to reach to

seventy to win. CNN is projecting Harris will win Delaware, Illinois,
and New York. Trump looks set to clear Wyoming in
North Dakota. CNN's Abby Phillip is at Carmala HQ in Washington, DC.
She says there's a lot of anxiety as results trickle in,
but each time a race is called for Harris or

she is shown in the lead in one of these battlegrounds,
it is a big moment for the folks here. Carmala
Harris supporter Catherine Harris is at the US Embassy election
party in Wellington. She says the choice is obvious. She's
proven herself, she's got a track record, she's prosecuted criminals,
and the other candidate is a criminal, and Donald Trump

has appealed to support us to vote. We're doing really well.
If you're in line, stay in line, don't let them
take you off that line. Vote, stay on the line.
They can't do anything about it, and vote. We're going

the latest results from CNN, Harris now ninety one electoral
votes as against Donald Trump's one seventy eight. An expectation

unemployment will keep rising for the next year. Stat Sanz
says the unemployment rate reached four point eight percent in
the September quarter. That's up point two percent from June.
ASP economist Marksmith says the economy isn't expected to recover
until late next year. We expect your lever market to
eventually follow, So you know, we're looking at the unempoyment
rate going to round five and a half percent by

the middle of the next year and then gradually falling
after that. Politicians are clashing ahead of the introduction of
the Treaty principal Bill. The controversial legislation will go before
the House tomorrow and the Prime Ministers indicated it'll have
its first reading next Thursday. Labor leader Chris Hipkins is
sounding a warning. I think it's actually very un key.
We this is a really divisive piece of legislation that's

going to take New Zealand backwards. Bill architect David Seymour
disagrees what's really important is that New Zealanders get to
have a say about our constitutional future in a way
many people have felt they couldn't do for a long time.
The Prime Minister says the government is as frustrated as
the community about cuts to the Dunedin Hospital build because
of a cost blowout. Southern Mayor has traveled to Parliament

to present a petition today asking the government to reverse cuts.
It was received by MP Rachel Brooking. Chris Luxon sees
the last government but delivered them a hospital pass. But
we are going to build a great hospital and as
I said, we've got a review process on looking at
the old site the new site, whether we scale back,
what we scale back, you know, and how we actually
