From the news Talks Heaby newsroom. This is newsfacs in
this update. In a televised address, Vladimir Putin is claiming
Russia's new missiles can't be intercepted. It's testing and producing
a new ballistic weapon, the hypersonic Ratnic missile. It follows
the US approving Kiev's use of long range American missiles.

A former Ukrainian prime minister told the BBC Vladimir Putin
is trying to intimidate, but he's already intimidated.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
He wants to scare, but he is scared, and he
wants to sow an anxiety, but he's anxious.

Speaker 1 (00:41):
There's concern rising power bills will force the elderly to
give up other essentials. The Commerce Commission says bills will
increase around ten dollars a month from April due to
maintenance costs. Gray Powers Gail Chambers says it's not just
electricity going up.

Speaker 3 (00:56):
We've got soaring food prices right and that of going
through the road. But there's no more money. They don't
have any more money to combat that.

Speaker 1 (01:06):
Hoping cough emidemic could linger for more than a year
as the country faces a high wave of cases. ESR
reports there have been two hundred and sixty three cases
in the past four weeks. The Immunization Advisory Center's medical director,
Nikki Turner, says that disease comes in cycles every four
to six years.

Speaker 3 (01:24):
Since we're just starting into it, we can't tell you.
It tends to last up to eighteen months, so we've
got quite a lot of time of high rates to go,
so this is just in the early stages of it.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
The grieving family of a Melbourne teenager who died from
methanol poisoning says they have broken hearts. Hollybowls is the
sixth person known to have died after drinking tainted alcohol,
and Laos Sky News reporter Kadelia Lynch says Holly's family
described her as having so much joy.

They did say they were comforted by the fact she's
been living her vast life traveling across Southeast Asia. Was
on a dream gutaway with our best friend.

And that's news. In Sport, I've frosty finished to the
All Blacks training year. After snow last night in tur And,
New Zealand held their captains run an icy wind blowing
off nearby mountains ahead of tomorrow morning's game against Italy.
The temperature will plunge below zero tonight and again tomorrow
for kickoff. Captain Scott Barrett says they must embrace the conditions.
