Good afternoon, I'm railing Ramsay. This is your afternoon news
fixed for Thursday, the fifth of December. People in Selwyn
are being asked to steer clear of lighting any fires
as firefighters battle a major scrubland fire in the Southern Alps.
It started near Canterbury's Lake Pearson about four thirty this
morning and residents of Castle Hill Village have been told

to prepare for evacuations. Solwhn Mayor Sam brought and says
the hot, windy weather is adding to the risk to
the community. You know, when we've got people focusing on
an emergency like this, we don't need extra fires being
let Solus people to be conscious of their own activities
and drivers should check ahead for road closures. Otago firefighters
from multiple brigades have been responding to a rash of

vegetation fires across central and coastal Otago Fire and Emergency
is activated its regional coordination center in Dunedin. Fires have

announced another five charter schools to open and term one

next year, so that's a total of six now there
were three in Auckland, two in christ Church and one
in Kaitaier. Those announced today include a creative arts college,
a Mahdi Immersion Kuda and a bilingual French education school.
Associate Education Minister David Seymour says there'll be more announcements soon.

We expect a total of seven possibly eight schools operating
from the first of February next year, and then we'll
continue assessing further applicants throughout next year.

The Health Minister has taken aim at labour Z Eischeviril
