fix for Friday, sixth of December and this update. CRUs
have been working through the night to fight the fire,
which is burnt through scrub near Lake Pearson and Canterbury.
Eleven homes in Castle Hill Village remain occupied as fire
and emergency encourages self evacuation. Firefighters say those remaining must

to escape the five hundred and thirty five hectare blaze.
Fire conditions are expected to improve today. Met Service meteorologist
Lewis Fernandez says the area is heading into a cooler

Shock in a South Auckland community after a man arrived
at a medical center with gunshot injuries. A homicide investigation
has been launched after the man was taken to Middlemoor
Hospital yesterday afternoon, where he died. Witnesses described seeing armed
police and the Eagle helicopter outside Clinton Medical Center in
the afternoon. Police have also established a scene guard on

Gambier Place in wattle Downs, a short drive away from
the center. The Police Association president is backing a decision
to focus on quality cops, not just quantity. The government
had promised five hundred new officers by the end of
next year, but new Commissioner Richard Chambers doubts they'll hit

Chris Carhill told Ryan Bridge the target was always going
to be a big ass police.

A facial recognition trial has prevented about one hundred serious
harm incidents in supermarkets. The figures come from independent analytics
firm Scalaate following the six month trial of the technology
at twenty five Foodstuff's North Island stores. A report of
the trial shows more than seventeen hundred alerts of offenders
and their accomplices were generated across the New World and

pack and safe locations. Scalati director Adam Bakers is that
the benefits of the technology far out weigh its privacy concerns.

It recognizes known offenders at the point that they try
to enter the store and allows the security team in
the store to intervene early and stop that offender.

The largest list of New Zealand Bravery Awards since they
were established in nineteen ninety nine has been released today.
