Good morning, I'm never ready, Manu, and this is your
morning news fix for Monday, fourteenth of July. In this update,
the government's unveiling new initiatives in hopes of doubling the
international education sector. Education Minister Erica Stanford wants it to
contribute seven point two billion dollars to the economy by

twenty thirty four. The government's plan begins with expanding work
rights to all tertiary students in approved exchange programs. It's
also allowing eligible students to work twenty five hours per week,
up from the current twenty. It will also investigate a
new short duration work visa and streamlining multi year visa application.

A record number of children are being homeschooled in New Zealand.
Preliminary figures released by the Ministry of Education show almost
eleven thousand, four hundred children had an exemption to home
educate last year. Jamie Cunningham reports.

That figures double two thousand and one's when there were
five seven hundred children. Majority of students are aged between
nine to fourteen and homeschooled for up to three years.
The pandemics significantly impacted these figures, with twenty twenty two
seeing the biggest year on year increase, but the number
has continued to grow since.

The coroner is expected to hear from the family of
Malachi subsh today, more than three years since his murder.
