this update, Police are calling for anyone who saw a
fatal crash on State Highway One at Waitaki near Topo
this morning to get in touch. Emergency services were called
to the two vehicle collision between Link Road and Cody
Drive at about half past seven. One person died and
two others had minor injuries. The Serious Crash Unit is

examined the scene and police would like to speak with
anyone who saw what happened or who has DATS dashcam
footage of the crash. A new weather radars on its
way for Nelson Tasman. The Minister of the South Island,
James Meagher, has announced funding for met Service to improve
severe weather monitoring and response in the region. Nelson Tasman
communities are still recovering from back to back devastating storms.

Mister Meagher says this is something the community has been
asking for. The new radar will cast up to five
million dollars and eight hundred thousand dollars a year to operate.
Conservationists are calling for action over introduced social wasps running
rampant through the country. Footage emerged this week showing the
wasps devouring a live wetter in the Bay of Islands.

New Zealand's Moths and Butterflies Trust says most monarch butterflies
appear to have disappeared, with wasps likely to blame. Founding
trustee Jackie Knight says they've launched a survey to better
understand the wasps, hoping they'll be added to the Predator
Free twenty fifty target species list, which would mean that
they're possibly a subsidies for people to check wasp and poison.
