Good afternoon. I'm Wendy Petrian. This is your afternoon newsfacs
for Tuesday, the twenty sixth of August. Australian media is
reporting two police officers are dead and another's wounded after
an ambush in northeast of Victoria. The Age newspaper is
quoting three anonymous police sources as the incident unfolds at
a rural property at Porpunka, three hundred kilometres northeast of Melbourne.

These claims have not been confirmed by Victoria Police. Australian
Prime Minister Anthony Alberanezi says there are grave concerns for
the officers involved and his thoughts are with police men
and women who wear our uniform.

Australia has expelled the Iranian ambassador after finding Iran directed
at least two anti Semitic attacks in the country, so
also listing the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terror entity.
Foreign Minister Penny Wong says the ambassador and three Iranian
officials have seven days to leave the country and the
embassy has been suspended. This is the first time in

the post war period that Australia has expelled an ambassador
and we have made this decision because Iran's actions are
completely unacceptable. The former Australian police officer accused of killing
two men with a service weapon will plead not guilty.

says the bodies of the twenty nine year old flight

The accused is pleaded not guilty to two counts of
domestic violence related murder, as well as one count of
aggravated break and enter.

Police are hunting for the source of a May Day
call AFTERSI bending the search for a boat and cook
Strait Emergency Services received a distress call just after ten
last night, with the person saying their boat with two
on board, was being swamped by water. Emily Ancel reports.

A search began after the boaties failed to respond. Officers
found no objects of interest and no boaties are reported missing.
Police looking into the call to figure out the source
and its veracity.

The government is bringing in tougher rules to ban dogs
being chained up for a prolonged period of time. A
person would be banned from tethering a dog with a rope,
line or chain attached to a fixed point for extended
periods where they suffer harm. It makes for roughly ten
percent of dog related complaints to the SPCA. Puppies and

pregnant dogs won't be allowed to be chained, with the
exception of a few cases like when visitors are temporarily
at an owner's property. The new rule will take effect
