Good afternoon. I'm Wendy Petrian. This is your afternoon newsfacs
for Tuesday, the twenty sixth of August. Australian media is
reporting two police officers are dead and another's wounded after
an ambush in northeast of Victoria. The Age newspaper is
quoting three anonymous police sources as the incident unfolds at
a rural property at Porpunka, three hundred kilometres northeast of Melbourne.

These claims have not been confirmed by Victoria Police. Australian
Prime Minister Anthony Alberanezi says there are grave concerns for
the officers involved and his thoughts are with police men
and women who wear our uniform.

Australia has expelled the Iranian ambassador after finding Iran directed
