Good afternoon. I'm Malcolm Jordan and this is your midday
news fix for Tuesday, the thirtieth of September. Donald Trump
is optimistic as Gaza peace plan, now accepted by Israel,
can happen. Hamas has received the deal but hasn't so fast.
Signaled agreement terms include the war, ending, hostage returns, Israeli

troops pulling back, and creating an interim government made up
of Palestinians and experts like former British Prime Minister Tony Blair.
It would be led by Trump, who says the ball
is now in Hermasa's court and the only one left.

Everyone else has accepted it, but I have a feeling
that we're going to have a positive answer.

A development in the police investigation into the fatal attack
in Auckland this year. Thirty three year old American PhD
student Kyle Warrell was attacked in Meadowbank in April and
died in hospital. A sixteen year old has been charged
with Warrell's murder. A thirty three year old woman is
facing two charges of being an accessory after the fact.

Detective Inspector Glenn Baldwin says a rusty machete was located
yesterday in Maybury Reserve in nearby Glenniness.

Forensic testing is underway, but we won't know the results
of that for some time. The Building and Construction Minister
says he hopes proposed changes to building earthquake standards will
be embraced by all. They will exempt Auckland, Northland and
the Chattham Islands from the strengthening requirements. The new system
will apply to concrete buildings three stories or higher and
