this update. Power is likely to be restored tonight and
supports available for Hotta Fenoa locals affected by Sunday severe
weather event. Pokomada was expected to have power later today,

still cut off. The district Council is urging locals to

use water conservatively as backup generators remain in place. They
say the region's water systems and power lines are being
brought back, but it's been difficult with the holiday period.
Waste pop up sites have been set up for people
to dispose of spoiled food from the power cuts. A
twenty four year old man has been arrested and charged

with illegal firearm and drug possession after being pulled over
for speeding and coacoa. Last night, police stopped a driver
on State Highway eleven for exceeding the speed limit, then
found the car had been reported stock in last week.
A further search through the vehicle led to the discovery
and seizure of weapons, ammunition, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. The

driver is due to a pair in court next month.
Senior Sergeant Lynn Fleming will be front of mind for
police in Nelson this New Year's Eve. It's one year
since Fleming was killed working in the city. Police Commissioner
Richard Chambers will join beat patrols in Nelson tonight to
be with the staff working alongside her. A year ago,

at Fleming's memorial service, Chambers described how she began her
final shift, as she had many shifts before. Lynn produced
a range of snacks for her colleagues to help keep
them going through the New Year's Eve night shift. She
commented on house or her feet would be at the
end of the night. And one of the country's newest
Knights says philanthropy gives him purpose. Sir Rod Drury, who

co founded accounting software firm Zero in two thousand and six,
as one of four New Knights and three New Dames
recognized in the New Year's Honest List. Sir Rod stepped
down as Zero CEO in twenty eighteen and has since
focused on philanthropic work from his home in Queenstown. He
says he enjoys using his business skills to tackle infrastructure problems.

and putting time to things. That's news. In sport, The
Wellington Blaze have continued their unbeaten start to the women's

hand and batsman has fallen ill in recent days, reportedly
being placed in an induced coma amid a battle with meningitis.
Former teammate Adam Gilcrest confirmed his hospitalization in a statement
