Sanity Damage - D&D Actual Play

Each of the party members arrive in Westport, a small colony on the island of Penjarhao, independently of one another. The party slowly begins to coalesce as the PCs meet one another in a variety of circumstances, including a tavern brawl, a tea tasting, and a riveting conversation with an eccentric gnomish potato merchant!

A threat to the town causes the PCs to rally together and form an adventuring party. At the mayor’s behest, the party agrees to investigate this danger and see if it poses a long-term threat to the town. Over dinner and pipeweed, the party discusses their immediate goals and determines whether or not they would benefit from traveling with each other.

Following the trail of the abomination that they fought previously, the party heads into the wild and dangerous jungles of Penjarhao, facing new challenges, reconnecting with some unlikely friends, and making some new acquaintances along the way.

Picking up right where last week’s episode ended, the party fights a horrific and unnatural foe. Following the fight, they meet a depressed nature spirit and learn more of what has been going on in the jungle. When they camp for the night, Jack has a strange dream.

As the party approaches Kraz’s lair, they are confronted by increasingly dangerous obstacles that seem to have been created by Kraz himself. When they finally reach a cave complex that Gailie confirms is his lair, they steel themselves for a difficult fight.

The party enters Kraz’s lair, but quickly split up as Zachariah gets lost deep in the lair while the rest of the party continues to explore the outer caves. Both Zachariah and the rest of the party battle horrors, find treasure, and make unexpected discoveries.

Zachariah reunites with the rest of the party in a shocking fashion as secrets come to light. When the party delves deeper into Kraz’s lair, their secrets are laid bare, causing tensions to flare hot between the party members.

Still suspicious of each other after the mirrors revealed the PCs’ secrets, the party has the fight of their lives. Several of them sustain injuries that prove deceptively deadly.

Battered, bruised, and on death's doorstep, unable to even complete a long rest, the party comes face to face with Kraz himself.

In the immediate aftermath of their deadly battle, Zachariah and Hudson have to perform surgery on Moriarty in a desperate attempt to save his life. As the exhausted and battered party recoups, they make some surprising discoveries and get a new benefactor.

In this first episode of To Whom the TEA Belongs, we have a round-table discussion about the campaign thus far. We talk about random encounters that the party avoided, look at full maps of Kraz’s lair, and talk about our hopes for the future of the campaign. The campaign will continue next week!

In pursuit of Zugchigaungu, the party arrives at Cliffsbay Settlement, a massive Westannican colony overrun with crime and swindlers. After an annoying encounter with some halfling charlatans, the party winds up at the Riverbed Relaxation Complex, where Hudson parties it up on the dance floor, Moriarty starts modifying the party’s equipment, and Jack and Zachariah meet a mysterious figure.

Hudson’s rendezvous with Azure goes terribly, and in the aftermath, the rest of the party scrambles to find a way to intervene and get Hudson out of dire straits. The halfling con man makes a reappearance, and the party makes new connections with Cliffsbay’s criminal element.

 Following new leads, the party teams up with the Wayfinder Kenowan and his associate, Mitzka. Together, they head to the docks to board a ship called The Metaphor and confront one of the gangs that is based in Cliffsbay, all with the intent of rescuing Hudson.

The party meets pirate captain Elizabeth Chance, who charters her ship, the Black Sparrow, for the crew to pursue Hudson. The party interrogates one of Hudson’s enemies and is forced to make an agonizing choice.

Having fully committed to the rescue mission, the party sets sail with the crew of the Black Sparrow. They face coastal threats from the wilds of Penjarhao, and share fish tales with the crew, learning more of the world around them.

We turn to Hudson Swift in this interlude, following his harrowing abduction. Hudson endures brutal physical and psychological torture at the hands of the vicious loan shark Thousand Tooth Tom. Throughout it all, Hudson struggles both to maintain his sense of identity and to find an opportunity to escape from Tom’s vise-like grasp.
