put together some of my favorite radio moments here to

the rug pulled out from under her and she was
blind to how unloving her husband was. That story coming

Welcome aboard. Who is with me on the phone line?
Speaker 2 (01:12):
Brenda?
Speaker 1 (01:13):
Brenda? What can I do for you?
Speaker 2 (01:16):
I'm going through a hard time right now. It's newly
bled and my husband has cheated and left and now
has erased me and my special needs son. Oh, I
need a straw.
Speaker 1 (01:31):
I need to keep it together. Take a deep breath, Okay,
start again, Brenda. Tell me what is going on and
what I can do to bring some joy to your night.
Speaker 2 (01:43):
Well, my husband is left after five months of being married.
Speaker 1 (01:47):
So as he cheated five months, that's not that's not
even that's not even half a year. That's not even
a marriage. That's that's that's a liar, liar pants on fire,
who jumped into something, made some promises and had no
intentions of keeping them.
Speaker 2 (02:04):
Yes, I'm starting to realize that now.
Speaker 1 (02:07):
How long ago did he tap out?
Speaker 2 (02:11):
April twenty eighth.
Speaker 1 (02:13):
So it's been a recent thing. So you just got
married last year? Yep? And do you have children with
this man? Or you are on your own?
Speaker 2 (02:23):
No? I have a special news son that is not
his son, who's in a wheelchair. And I'm on my own.
I've been on my own since he's been little. He's
twenty one. He's my everything. It's a good young man.
And but we're on our own now and I just
(02:45):
need to find the strength, just something I need to hear,
something that you know. I know I'll survive this, but
tonight is just a bad night.
Speaker 1 (02:54):
Not only are you going to survive this, Brenda, you
are going to come through this, and when you get
to the other side, you are going to be so
much stronger. You are going to discover strengths about yourself
that you never in a million years knew that you had.
Speaker 2 (03:13):
I'm looking forward to that.
Speaker 1 (03:15):
How long had you been married when you discovered he
was betraying you and cheating?
Speaker 2 (03:22):
Not even four months?
Speaker 1 (03:23):
Okay, So he did you a favor by leaving.
Speaker 2 (03:26):
I know. It's still hard, So I.
Speaker 1 (03:28):
Know, I know, but it's like it's like an infection.
Until you get all the infection out of the wound site,
the wound can't heal. So if he kept coming back
and kept coming back and kept making promises and blah
blah blah, the wound would never heal.
Speaker 2 (03:50):
Yeah. I never thought of it that way.
Speaker 1 (03:52):
Him in your life is nothing but a big infection.
And what a horrible example to set for your young
the young man who is your.
Speaker 2 (04:02):
Son, that's for sure.
Speaker 1 (04:04):
What a horrible example to show a young man that
already has challenges in this world, that this is the
way that men treat women. No, not okay, not okay.
He did you both a favor.
Speaker 2 (04:18):
Yeah, I believe that. I know I'll get over this
because I've been a strong woman all my life. I've
just you know, recovering from open heart surgery a year
and a half goat and the death of my mom
at the same time. So it's been a hard couple
(04:38):
of years. But I just really didn't expect us.
Speaker 1 (04:51):
So you were in a vulnerable place when you said
yes and got married. It sounds like, and.
Speaker 2 (04:57):
I knew this man for fifteen years.
Speaker 1 (05:00):
But if you said you got over open heart surgery
and the death of your mom and then you got married,
so you were in a very vulnerable place. Yes, I was,
And knowing you were in a vulnerable place, he betrayed you.
Speaker 2 (05:13):
What a jerk, that's for sure.
Speaker 1 (05:16):
And you're crying buckets of tears over this cheater, cheater?
Where'd you meet her? Why?
Speaker 2 (05:24):
I'm not sure I'm actually crying over him. I'm just
crying over my stupidity.
Speaker 1 (05:29):
Honey, you're not stupid. You just have a big, open sweetheart.
That's not stupid. You're not stupid. I'm sure he's very charming.
I'm sure he's very handsome. I'm sure he painted a
million pictures. And now you're looking back, going how could
I have fallen for that? Yes, yes, you fell for

it because you are vulnerable and you were hurting, and
you weren't at the top of your game physically and
you were grieving your mom and he came in looking
like he was going to make it all better.
Speaker 2 (06:04):
Yeah, that's very true.
Speaker 1 (06:07):
So you're not stupid. You're just a lovely woman who
has a lot on your plate and you thought you
could count on him.
Speaker 2 (06:18):
Yeah. I'm starting to realize that now. I'm just trying
to get through things, and you know, I just you know,
going through school and all this at the same time,
and I just feel kind of somebody pulled the rug
out from under my feet.
Speaker 1 (06:37):
He did, That's exactly what he did. But you will
get your balance, you will get back on your feet,
and you will be even better than before.
Speaker 2 (06:47):
I'm going to really work hard on believing all that.
I know. I'm stronger and i know I will survive this.
I'm just trying to get through it now and keep focused.
Speaker 1 (07:03):
If you're caring for a twenty one year old special
need son and going to school at the same time,
that's a lot to juggle. That's a lot to juggle, mama.
So take your right hand, reach it across your left shoulder,
and pat yourself on the back from me. Okay, okay, okay,
(07:25):
I'm going to play a song for you. Stop beating
yourself up. Okay, you can mourn the relationship, you can
mourn what you thought was going to be, you can
mourn the promises you made. But you don't get to
beat yourself up anymore. You don't need that.
Speaker 2 (07:41):
I don't. Nope, I definitely don't go.
