Speaker 1 (00:02):
Hey, it's Delilah. Thank you for stopping by. I have
put together some of my favorite radio moments here to
share with you on our daily podcast. Do Hey, it's Delilah.
This is one of my favorite places to be, my

(00:22):
happy place. Doesn't matter what the weather is like outside,
doesn't matter what's going on in my personal life, even
when I go through the storms of life. I love
coming to the studio and being with you, talking to
you because you encourage me as much as I encourage you.
When I lost my son Zach, when I lost my

(00:44):
son Sammy in twenty twelve, your cards, your notes, your letters,
your messages on email on Facebook sustained me in a
way that I can never thank you for. I love
coming into the studio and being here with you. Thank
you for that gift. Hi, good evening. Welcome to the

(01:07):
Delilah Show.

Speaker 2 (01:08):
Who is this, Hey Delilah, My name is Joseph.

Speaker 3 (01:12):
Welcome aboard. What can I do for you?

Speaker 4 (01:15):
Boy?

Speaker 2 (01:15):
I don't know where to start, because I have to
tell you I absolutely used to listen to your show
when I was When I was little, and I thought
if I could just once be lucky enough to call
Delilah and talk to her, and secondly, just really thank

(01:38):
her for being a candle in the dark. You just
were such a dove to so many people. I would
hear the stories and the way that you would find
the appropriate song for no matter for the situation, no
matter what anyone was going through, and I just thought,
what a what a wonderful woman that got has blessed

(02:00):
the world with to bless bless others in that way.

Speaker 1 (02:04):
Thank you, I think and love as many years as
it's been, and it'll be fifty years next month.

Speaker 3 (02:13):
I love getting to talk to people and getting to
know people. It is.

Speaker 1 (02:19):
It's such a joy, and I don't know what I
would do if I ever had to get a real job.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
You're a candle in the dark and you just sound
like a wonderful lady with such a compassionate heart. And
I really think that that sort of gift and that
kind of love could only have come from God. So
thank you once again for all that you do and
the way that you touch every heart.

Speaker 1 (02:44):
Well you have a great night. Thank you for calling
God bless you.

Speaker 3 (02:47):
Joe. This is Delilah Richard. How is your summer going.

Speaker 5 (02:57):
It's going very well.

Speaker 6 (02:58):
How is yours?

Speaker 3 (02:59):
It's one. Who are you thinking of tonight?

Speaker 6 (03:02):
I'm thinking of my daughter as Angeline. Way way back
in the early nineties, I was a student in Boston
and a seminary student. I'm a pastor.

Speaker 3 (03:11):
And now I remember your letter, do you? I do?
I wrote you back. Did you get my letter back?

Speaker 6 (03:17):
I did? Indeed. Yeah, So you wrote.

Speaker 3 (03:20):
To me and you used to listen to me while
you were studying. That's right when I was doing a
quiet storm.

Speaker 6 (03:25):
And a few years ago, our daughter discovered this lady
that she liked listening to at night as she finished
up her studies, and it turned out to be you,
which was a surprise to my wife and I. So
if Angeline started listening and enjoyed the music, and I
enjoyed listening to you as she studied, and she graduated
from high school, and it occurred to both of us

(03:48):
that it was pretty cool that you saw us both
through to our respective graduations and helped us with our
own homework all of these years. And so I thought
I'd write you and let you know that then that's
pretty cool.

Speaker 1 (04:01):
So I think I should get an honorary degree for that,
you know, since I never bothered to get a real degree.

Speaker 6 (04:08):
There you go.

Speaker 7 (04:11):
And where's she going?

Speaker 3 (04:12):
Has she decided what she's doing after graduation?

Speaker 6 (04:14):
Now?

Speaker 3 (04:14):
Is she off to college?

Speaker 6 (04:15):
She's going to be studying nursing at the University of Calgary.

Speaker 3 (04:18):
Good for her. Oh, she's really going to need my show.
That's a tough.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
Program, Richard. Thank you for calling. Congratulations on you and
your daughter graduating. Let me play a song for you. Hi,
thanks for calling the Delilah Show. Who's this.

Speaker 5 (04:45):
Doctor Bailey?

Speaker 3 (04:46):
Hi, doctor Bailey, you have a beautiful voice.

Speaker 7 (04:48):
You should be in radio, although if you're a doctor,
I probably not, because I'm sure you do far better
as a doctor than most of us doing radio.

Speaker 5 (04:58):
Yeah. Actually, I was calling about is the job I have.
I used to have a job where I was working
basically with the criminally insane. People are really messed up,
and I got very tired of that, and I started
getting burned out. And I just came to realization that
why work with the people on that end when I
can try to do it with the youth on the
other end.

Speaker 7 (05:18):
A little preventative medicine there, Yes, what a concept.

Speaker 5 (05:23):
Yeah, So I decided to get out. I retired from
that job, and then I started again and I started
working for the county and SOSA and some of the kids,
and I started making a difference. So I've always tried
to help those who have helped others. So I have
a very nice request for you.

Speaker 3 (05:42):
Okay, what can I play for you?

Speaker 5 (05:44):
I want you to play it for a very special
woman who's helped a lot of people.

Speaker 3 (05:49):
What song and who's on your heart?

Speaker 5 (05:51):
I think you'll understand who it is because I do
appreciate her work. And the song I want you to
play is Hey.

Speaker 1 (05:57):
There, Delilah, plain light Tease.

Speaker 5 (06:01):
I've listened to your show called a number of times
when I especially if I'm working late, and you've given
some very good advice to some very good people, and
I appreciate that very very much. So I would like
just to dedicate that song to you.

Speaker 3 (06:15):
I will play it for me from you.

Speaker 1 (06:16):
Thank you, God, bless you, bless you, bless you, especially
working with.

Speaker 5 (06:20):
Kids, and I do appreciate your program and the things
you've done for these people.

Speaker 3 (06:24):
Thanks Anny, Hi, good evening.

Speaker 4 (06:32):
Who's this Hi, Delilah, It's Chip, Hi Chip.

Speaker 3 (06:36):
What can I do for you tonight?

Speaker 4 (06:38):
Well, actually, I have a very long overdue dedication to
a very special lady and that lady's name is Delilah.

Speaker 3 (06:45):
Are you talking about me?

Speaker 4 (06:47):
Delilah? Almost exactly nine years ago, I was going through
a terrible divorce and it was really kind of racking
my world. And at the time, I was living about
forty five minutes away from my girls that I had
from that marriage, and so every day after work i'd
take that forty five minute trek from work to see
them and then go back to where I was staying.

(07:09):
And when I would leave, of course, i'd be very
upset about having them to leave them behind, and your
show would be on the radio, and when I was
driving back home, i'd always listen to you and listen
to your stories and listen to the messages that you
gave your listeners and so forth. And one night I said,
you know what, I'm going to call and I'm going
to talk to you, and I actually got through. I
was really thrilled, and you spent some real time with me,

(07:32):
and you gave me such encouragement and you let me
know that you know, just stay focused on those goals,
and you know, if you do things right and keep
your faith in God, that you know your dreams will
come true and you will be happy again, and I
can honestly report to you that nine years later, I
am on the top of the world, very happy. I
have a great relationship with my children, have another daughter

(07:55):
from a with my new wife who is just the
light of my life and has just made me, you know,
a full man again. And you know, in a lot
of respects, I owe a lot of my recovery to
your encouragement. And you're taking the time to talk to
me that night, and I really appreciate it. I just
wanted to let you know it's taking me too long
to get in touch with you on it.

Speaker 7 (08:14):
Chip.

Speaker 3 (08:15):
Didn't we pray together that night?

Speaker 4 (08:16):
We did, I remember we did. Thank you very.

Speaker 3 (08:19):
Much, Chip, Thank you.

Speaker 4 (08:21):
You have a great evening, and again, thanks for everything.

Speaker 1 (08:26):
I so hope you have enjoyed these radio moments as
much as I enjoy bringing them to you. I'll share
more with you each weekday on Hey, It's Delilah.
