Speaker 1 (00:02):
Hey, it's Delilah. Thank you for stopping by. I have
put together some of my favorite radio moments here to
share with you on our daily podcast. Do I think
our world is getting lonelier? We have more and more
and more and more opportunities to connect, a million and

(00:25):
one ways to connect, and yet people are lonelier today
than ever, they report. Studies prove it to be true.
They say that since COVID, especially loneliness is causing desperation,
causing depression, causing addictions, alcoholism, drug addiction to go through

(00:50):
the roof, causing suicides, causing all these problems. And what
is the key? What is the solution for that? For
that loneliness? Love silly, reaching out and connecting in love,
reaching out and connecting with other people in love, sharing

(01:11):
your heart, sharing your resources, sharing your time, sharing your experiences,
sharing your love.

Speaker 2 (01:23):
Hi Jane, Welcome to the Delilah Show. What can I
do for you?

Speaker 3 (01:27):
Well, I just want to tell you about my dad.
About six years ago, as my mom passed away and
my dad took me back in.

Speaker 2 (01:37):
So how old are you now?

Speaker 3 (01:39):
I'm about fifteen.

Speaker 4 (01:40):
And you were living with your mother at the time, Yeah,
I was, And how did mom pass.

Speaker 3 (01:47):
Actually she committed suicide.

Speaker 4 (01:49):
Oh, sweetie. Yeah, so she suffered from depression.

Speaker 3 (01:54):
Yeah, and well I didn't know what to do at
the time, and then my dad just showed up and
it was really good. And I don't know, he's a
good person and he tries really hard, and I can
be sometimes really you know, I don't know, difficult.

Speaker 4 (02:13):
Yeah, because you're a teenager and you're a girl, and
your body's changing, and you lost your mama and you
have a lot of grief.

Speaker 2 (02:20):
Yeah, So all the stuff.

Speaker 4 (02:22):
That a normal teenage girl puts a parent through is
multiplied by the fact that you're grieving the loss of
your mother. And it's probably also multiplied by the fact
that if your mother suffered from depression for a long time,
you bear the results of that, the scars of that. Yeah,
and it's probably complicated by the fact that you weren't
raised by your dad.

Speaker 2 (02:42):
So there's some readjusting going on.

Speaker 3 (02:45):
Yeah, I know.

Speaker 4 (02:46):
Do you have an aunt, a grandma, an older sister,
an older woman in your life that you can kind
of turn to?

Speaker 3 (02:53):
And well, actually, my dad immigrated here from Malaysia, so
we're actually the only family in the United States. The
rest of my family is in Malaysia or in Europe.

Speaker 2 (03:04):
Oh my word, Now, wonder you're feeling a little lonely.

Speaker 3 (03:07):
Yeah, it's kind of depressing sometimes.

Speaker 4 (03:10):
Oh sweetheart, I wish I could reach through the phone
lines and give you a great.

Speaker 2 (03:13):
Big hug.

Speaker 3 (03:15):
Oh, thank you.

Speaker 4 (03:16):
Well, I'm going to play a song for you. I'm
going to say a prayer that God would send people
to surround you and love you and let you cry
when you need to cry, and let you grow up
as a teenager and not be so mature so fast.

Speaker 3 (03:31):
Thank you.

Speaker 4 (03:32):
I'm so sorry for your loss, but you sound like
a delightful young lady.

Speaker 3 (03:37):
Thanks.

Speaker 2 (03:38):
Just do me a favor.

Speaker 4 (03:39):
Promise me that you won't ever fill that hole in
your heart with drugs or alcohol or destructive stuff.

Speaker 3 (03:44):
Oh no, no, no, I would never do that to myself.
I know it's not good for you.

Speaker 2 (03:49):
Good for you. Let me find a song for you.

a sweetheart in your life?

Speaker 5 (04:36):

Speaker 3 (04:40):
You know.

Speaker 5 (04:41):
I'm married, and the thing is, I'm not happy with
my marriage. But love is good.

So it sounds like you're kind of missing out on that.

people happy. I love that life is about love and love.
That's what you talk about, and it's good.

It is very true. Without love, life isn't really worth living.

listening to me.

Hi, thank you for coming the Delilah show. Who's this?

Speaker 6 (06:02):
This is Jerry?

Speaker 2 (06:03):
What can I do for you?

Speaker 6 (06:05):
Well, mister I, I wanted to call and say thank
you five years ago, without you knowing, you saved my life.

Speaker 2 (06:13):
Really, how did I do that?

Speaker 5 (06:14):
Jerry?

Speaker 6 (06:15):
I tried to take my own life and I told
the doctors that I was doing fine and so I
could get out of the hospital. And I heard your
show and there was a lady on there that was
that you spoke to that she was at the end
of her rope and you spoke to her, and it
just so it was like you were speaking to me.

(06:37):
And I also met a wonderful lady. We're just roommates.
Her name is Susan. And with listening to your show
and her supporting me five years, you know down the road,
I am a much better person. I have a great
job now and I have the most greatest outlook on life.

Speaker 2 (06:59):
So, oh, did you get help for your depression?

Speaker 6 (07:02):
Yes? No, My sure did good for you.

Speaker 4 (07:05):
So when you thought things were never going to get
better and life was filled with pain, God turned things
around for you.

Speaker 6 (07:12):
Yes, he sure did. And I am a firm believer
that you do God's work.

Speaker 4 (07:18):
I do my best to share God's love with as
many people as I possibly can.

Speaker 6 (07:22):
Your show is always on my radio, and I don't
think you get thanks enough for what you did.

Speaker 2 (07:28):
Well, thank you? Hi, you've called the Delilah Show.

Speaker 7 (07:37):
Who's this Nicole Myers?

Speaker 6 (07:40):
Hi?

Speaker 2 (07:41):
Nicole Myers? What can I do for you?

Speaker 7 (07:44):
I would like to talk about my best friend Sandy.

Speaker 2 (07:48):
Okay, tell me about your best friends. How long have
you guys been vbf's.

Speaker 7 (07:53):
Only for the last like three years, but she has
taken me and my family into her house. She's helped
me get through school. She's more like a sister than
a best friend. She's really helped me out through a
whole bunch of stuff. And you know that's really great.
I just I love her so much.

Speaker 2 (08:10):
So she's taken you and your kids.

Speaker 7 (08:12):
In, yeah, with my son who is ten months old
and my daughter who is four years old.

Speaker 2 (08:18):
Now that's a true friend. Good for her.

Speaker 7 (08:21):
Yes, she is awesome, and she has two kids of
her own, and she went through school too, and she's
finally come fuled goal and I think we're finally getting
to a comfortable place and it's really nice.

Speaker 2 (08:39):
So that's the kind of friend that you know as
a gift from God.

Speaker 7 (08:43):
Oh, yes, very much so. I don't think I would
have been in this place, in this situation had it
not been for her. And she's really helped me out
and she's really great.

Speaker 2 (08:54):
And what song would you like to hear? Can I
pick one for you?

Speaker 7 (08:58):
You may pick one for us, please.

Speaker 2 (09:01):
I'll do that.

Speaker 1 (09:05):
I so hope you have enjoyed these radio moments as
much as I enjoy bringing them to you.

Speaker 2 (09:10):
I'll share more with.
