Speaker 1 (00:02):
Hey it's Delilah. Thank you for stopping by. I have
put together some of my favorite radio moments here to
share with you on our daily podcast. Hey it's Delilah. Today,
I'm sharing some of the greatest calls I've taken recently.
(00:24):
We're gonna weave them together and share them with you
on Hey It's Delilah.
Speaker 2 (00:33):
Mary.
Speaker 3 (00:33):
Welcome to the Deli Lah Show. I hear you have
a dear friend you want to brag on.
Speaker 4 (00:38):
Yes, we met you when you were in town. Oh yes, yes,
well Mary and Mary were there the too, Mary too married.
Speaker 3 (00:49):
Howbn't you guys been friends for like forever?
Speaker 4 (00:52):
Yeah? Fifty six years. Wow, and everybody knows this is
Mary and Mary, the two Marys to Mary's.
Speaker 3 (01:02):
So how old were you when you met Mary?
Speaker 4 (01:04):
We were six years old.
Speaker 3 (01:06):
How did you meet?
Speaker 4 (01:07):
We were neighbors. They moved in next door to We
was there first and then they moved in next door
to us?
Speaker 3 (01:15):
And was it friendship at first sight?
Speaker 4 (01:17):
Oh? Yeah, we were always together.
Speaker 3 (01:20):
And then you went to the same schools.
Speaker 4 (01:21):
Same school, same high.
Speaker 3 (01:23):
School, and then what happened well, and.
Speaker 4 (01:26):
Then sort of, I would say, after high school, we
sort of went our separate ways. We both started our
families and just I mean, we still kept in touch,
but we did not have a closeness as we had
had before.
Speaker 3 (01:44):
Life kind of took over and you had places to go.
Speaker 2 (01:47):
And things to do.
Speaker 4 (01:49):
Right, And then after the families were more or less grown,
then we started getting back close again. And then I
went through a time when I lost my husband and
she was there all the way for me.
Speaker 3 (02:06):
And how long ago was that?
Speaker 4 (02:08):
It was five years ago?
Speaker 5 (02:10):
And today your heart is healing. Yes, And you both
had your own struggles to face.
Speaker 4 (02:16):
Yes, And we've just been there for each other.
Speaker 2 (02:26):
This is Aaron.
Speaker 5 (02:27):
Aaron, who are you thinking of tonight?
Speaker 6 (02:29):
Oh? My best friend in the whole entire world. His
name is Steve. We've been best friends for ten years,
all through high school and college, and a year ago
we decided we were in love with each other. And
we've been seeing each other for a year now. We
were next door neighbors in our apartment building and we
just stayed in a whole bunch of us and by
the end of that night we got to talking and
one thing led to another and we just decided maybe
(02:50):
we'd go for it.
Speaker 5 (02:51):
So you were friends all through high school, all through college.
Speaker 7 (02:54):
You were next door neighbors, and it took you that
long to realize that you were in love.
Speaker 6 (03:00):
Well, I think there was times that both of us
kind of thought about the other one, but times weren't right.
And you know, we've seen each other through other relationships,
to our other friends and stuff, and it just never
seemed to work out. Until the year ago, it seemed
to be perfect. We both felt the same way at
the same time, and it's been perfect ever since.
Speaker 5 (03:15):
So you think this is a lifetime.
Speaker 6 (03:17):
Thing, Oh, I have no doubt in my mind.
Speaker 5 (03:19):
What a great legacy to share with your kids.
Speaker 6 (03:21):
I know it's how to.
Speaker 5 (03:22):
Build a relationship on a solid foundation of friendship.
Speaker 6 (03:25):
It's a dream I've always had, always thought, Oh, it's
so great when people fall in love with their best friends.
And I never thought it would happen to me, And
never in my life have I been so sure.
Speaker 2 (03:33):
And what's his name, Steve?
Speaker 5 (03:35):
I will find a song for you too tonight.
Speaker 6 (03:37):
Okay, thank you, Delilah, Bye.
Speaker 2 (03:38):
Bye bye, Christina. What can I do for you?
Speaker 8 (03:51):
Well, I was wondering if you could take me out
of thought or a friend of mine. His name is Leroy,
And a while ago they were in school. We dated
for a while, and you know, I'm older than him,
so it was peer pressure because he was younger than me.
Speaker 2 (04:08):
How much younger my two years?
Speaker 7 (04:11):
Okay, when you're in school, that's a big difference, it is.
Speaker 8 (04:15):
It really really is.
Speaker 7 (04:16):
Once you're out of school and you're an adult and
you're on your own, that's not really a difference at all.
Speaker 6 (04:20):
No, it's not.
Speaker 2 (04:21):
Now, it's not.
Speaker 4 (04:22):
I don't know.
Speaker 9 (04:23):
I did.
Speaker 8 (04:23):
They ran into each other not too long ago, and
they changed numbers and we talked a few times, and
I've seen him twice. I don't know. All these seemings
have kind of come back, and I guess they've never
really gone away, to tell you the truth, because I've
never felt like getting I've never felt like this at
the very beginning with anybody, any relationship. And all I
can do is just kind of think about him. And
(04:46):
I don't know. It's kind of weird.
Speaker 7 (04:47):
All the time, all the time. Every love song you hear,
sappy song makes you think of him. Yes, every time
you see something beautiful you want to share it with.
Speaker 8 (04:57):
Him, Yes, And it's so weird.
Speaker 7 (04:59):
Every poet you read and you probably don't even read
that many poems.
Speaker 2 (05:02):
It makes you think of him.
Speaker 8 (05:05):
Exactly.
Speaker 5 (05:06):
You've been bit by the love bug, honey.
Speaker 8 (05:08):
I have been, and it's so weird because I never
thought I would actually feel like this ever.
Speaker 7 (05:13):
So you want me to find a song that tells Leroy,
I can't stop thinking about you, dreaming about you. I
picture your face, I want to kiss that face. I
want to be with you all the time.
Speaker 8 (05:24):
Yeah, something like that.
Speaker 2 (05:25):
But you want me to You want me to do
it subtly, right.
Speaker 8 (05:28):
Yes, because I mean he just got out of relationship
and a couple of months ago, and I've been out
of mind for about nine months.
Speaker 7 (05:35):
Now, So you're trying to be cool and subtle and
not too obvious.
Speaker 2 (05:40):
Yeah, okay, let me see how I can help to
further that. Cause that's good.
Speaker 5 (05:51):
Hi, Chelsea, how are you tonight?
Speaker 9 (05:54):
I'm well, thank you?
Speaker 2 (05:56):
What can I do for you?
Speaker 6 (05:57):
Well?
Speaker 9 (05:57):
I was wondering, Delilah, if you could me a song
that embodies hope.
Speaker 1 (06:02):
How can I infuse a little hope into your heart?
Speaker 9 (06:06):
My husband and I are going through a rough patch
and we were considering a separation and I think we've
decided not to go that route, and I would just
love to hear something tonight that gave us a little
bit of hope.
Speaker 1 (06:21):
So you've decided not to go that route and separate,
or you've decided to not go that route and just
call it quits and move on, to not separate, to
try to stick it out and work it out. Yes,
So what led to this rough patch is what if
you could just put everything on a pot on the
stove and boil it down. What would you say are
(06:42):
the top issues that are tearing at the fiber of
your relationship?
Speaker 9 (06:47):
I would say, I'm the expectations and misunderstandings in our
communication department. I think finances is a big, big thing.
Speaker 1 (06:57):
So who came into this relationship with expectations that the
other is not meeting.
Speaker 9 (07:02):
I think we both did. I think I've just been
more vocal, of course about them. I'm hoping that with
this new path we can forge ahead and make a
good future for ourselves and for our child and our
future children.
Speaker 5 (07:19):
Well, good for you.
Speaker 1 (07:20):
It sounds like you've got a lot of hope for
the future and you're really excited that this is going
to be left in the past. Yes, So I will
find a song that shares those sentiments and looks forward
to a much brighter future.
Speaker 9 (07:37):
Thank you so much Forlilah.
Speaker 1 (07:38):
Thank you for calling, and I'm so glad you guys
are working through this.
Speaker 9 (07:42):
Thank you.
Speaker 1 (07:45):
I so hope you have enjoyed these radio moments as
much as I enjoy bringing them to you.
Speaker 2 (07:51):
I'll share more with you
Speaker 1 (07:52):
Each weekday on Hey It's Delilah.
