Speaker 1 (00:02):
Hey, it's Delilah. Thank you for stopping by. I have
put together some of my favorite radio moments here to
share with you on our daily podcast. Do hey, It's
Delilah on a Tuesday with you as you bake the pies,

(00:23):
as you order the rolls or decide to bake your own,
as we prepare for a day of gratitude.

Speaker 2 (00:30):
What are you grateful for? That's what we're talking about today.
Does a ray? Happy Holidays? What can I do for you?

Speaker 3 (00:41):
Well, I want it to Well, I don't think the
song goes with what I want to say, but I
just want to thank God for my mother, because well,
I'm eighteen years old and when I was sixteen, I
left home. I gets out of rebellion and I went
and I got pregnant, and I just had my baby

(01:02):
a week and a half ago. And my mother has
a kindness of her heart allowed me to come back
home to live with her even though I was pregnant.
And at the same time she was pregnant. She had
her baby two weeks ago, and so I know it
wasn't easy thing for her to do.

Speaker 4 (01:18):
But so you and your mother had babies two weeks
a week apart.

Speaker 3 (01:22):
Three days apart.

Speaker 2 (01:23):
Yep, oh my words. So you're back home now where
you belong.

Speaker 4 (01:27):
Yes, and who's there help and take care of you
two and the babies.

Speaker 3 (01:31):
My dad, Yeah, my dad and my brother helped out.
He's six years old. But you know, my baby's father
lives in New York and trying to work things out
right now. But for now I'm home.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
So this Thanksgiving, you've got a lot to be grateful for.

Speaker 5 (01:48):
Oh yeah, did.

Speaker 4 (01:49):
You have a forgiving family who loves you unconditionally?

Speaker 2 (01:54):
You have a healthy baby, yes? And your mom? And
now how old is your mother?

Speaker 3 (01:59):
She's thirty five?

Speaker 2 (02:01):
O my word.

Speaker 4 (02:03):
Yeah, my first husband his mother, so it was my
son's grandmother was in the hospital the same day as
her daughter, both of them having babies.

Speaker 3 (02:14):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (02:16):
Well, I'm glad that things are better.

Speaker 4 (02:19):
I pray that you have a healthy, healthy future, that
you make better choices.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
Yeah, and that you listen to your mom and dad
a little bit more.

Speaker 6 (02:29):
Yep, thank you.

Speaker 5 (02:36):
Hi, this is ton How.

Speaker 2 (02:37):
Are you, Tony.

Speaker 4 (02:38):
I'm wonderful. I understand you have something to share with
us for the holidays.

Speaker 5 (02:41):
Just a special story about the girl that I found
and my friend that I found for my.

Speaker 4 (02:47):
Life Okay, tell me about the girl that you love, Tony.

Speaker 5 (02:51):
Her name is Jessica, and I met her about a
year and a half ago here in town, and we
just became really good friends right off. There was something
that that was it just clicks between us, and I
told her that it has been a long time since
I really opened up and shared my life with someone,
and it was nice. I've heard that I've told her
this before that I'm glad it was her that found

(03:12):
my heart. And then she moved away about about two
and a half hours away from here now, and she
had to go back home to kind of get her
life together. And I've seen her about two or three
times in the last three months, but it's kind of
I don't know. The phone calls are starting to fade
away a little bit as much, which is okay, But
as long as she gets herself together and we'll see
each other soon sometime.

Speaker 4 (03:34):
So you don't know if this is a love founder
a love lost story.

Speaker 5 (03:37):
I don't know either way.

Speaker 2 (03:38):
You're kind of in that horrific place of limbo.

Speaker 5 (03:42):
Yes, it is.

Speaker 2 (03:43):
I hate being in limbo.

Speaker 5 (03:44):
Oh, I know I do too, in a way, and
it's frustrating for me. But if, but if I try
to push anything for anything more than just a friendship
at this point, it would just you know, she'd run
away and push her away, and I can't do that
to her.

Speaker 4 (03:59):
I will find the song that that tries to say,
I hope you're the one.

Speaker 2 (04:03):
If you're not, I'm going to be really bummed.

Speaker 5 (04:05):
But well, the song I would like would be James
Taylor's You've Got a friend, because that's very apropos for
this relationship at this time.

Speaker 2 (04:13):
But you don't want her for a friend, you're in
love with her.

Speaker 5 (04:15):
Well, I can't tell her that because if I do,
then she'll run away, so she I can No, don't
tell her that.

Speaker 2 (04:23):
Don't tell her that.

Speaker 5 (04:24):
Don't tell her that.

Speaker 6 (04:25):
Let's scared her.

Speaker 5 (04:27):
No, I'm in love with her enough to be able
to let her go if I need you.

Speaker 2 (04:41):
Christina, Welcome, Hi. What can I do for you?

Speaker 4 (04:45):
Here?

Speaker 7 (04:45):
In our community? We've been putting on a food drive.

Speaker 4 (04:48):
Like a holiday time food drive for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Speaker 7 (04:51):
Yes, food baskets, turkey with everything everything you could think, all.

Speaker 4 (04:56):
The fictions, yes, even the dressing, the pie, cranberry sauce,
uh huh.

Speaker 7 (05:02):
Of course, all that good stuff. We get donations from
different businesses and organizations and also community members that come
in here to our business. You know, they just you know,
we tell them what we're doing and they donate. And
even last year, my boss has got an award for
doing this.

Speaker 2 (05:21):
And how many baskets did you put together last year?

Speaker 7 (05:23):
Last year we did sixty nine baskets.

Speaker 2 (05:26):
Wow, that's a lot of turkey.

Speaker 7 (05:29):
Yes, yes, and we just love doing it. I mean
we we hand deliver it to their house and it's
like they are so grateful. It's like the best filling
in the world.

Speaker 4 (05:39):
Now, what Christina, what's your business that you open up
and take in these donations.

Speaker 2 (05:44):
What's the name of your company?

Speaker 7 (05:46):
We were in CNT Automotive.

Speaker 4 (05:48):
So well, when you're not working on cars, yeah, you're
you're stuffing baskets with cranberry sauce.

Speaker 2 (05:55):
Yes, good for you, girlfriend, good for you.

Speaker 7 (05:59):
And we're we're just so excited because it's just every
year it's growing and growing. And I mean not only
in the people that want food baskets, but I mean
just the help. And actually this last year, the first year,
we took a basket to this lady and she was
just really down and out in her luck. She said
she was having rice a ronie for Thanksgiving and somebody

(06:20):
turned in her name and we took her a basket.
And last year she came back and she told her
story and she helped us all the way. She was delivering,
she was collecting food.

Speaker 4 (06:32):
So she said, now that I've been blessed, let me
turn around and bless another.

Speaker 2 (06:35):
Yeah, pay it forward.

Speaker 7 (06:37):
And we were just all touched by that and we
got to kind of see the fruit.

Speaker 5 (06:41):
Of our laboring.

Speaker 2 (06:48):
Hi, Melissa, thank you for calling. This is Delilah.

Speaker 6 (06:51):
Hello.

Speaker 2 (06:52):
What can I do for you?

Speaker 6 (06:54):
Well, actually, I am calling just to let you know
that we've recently while I spoke last year, in January,
we adopted two little boys through the foster care system,
and then a month afterwards, we got another call to
take their biological sibling who was just born. So their
newborn brother, and we've had him for the last eight months.

Speaker 2 (07:18):
And now, wait, wait, back up. When you say we,
who is we?

Speaker 6 (07:22):
My husband and I.

Speaker 4 (07:23):
You don't sound old enough to have a husband, let
alone three children.

Speaker 2 (07:27):
Now how old are you?

Speaker 6 (07:28):
I'm twenty seven.

Speaker 2 (07:29):
Does everyone tell you you have a very sweet voice?

Speaker 6 (07:32):
They say it sounds very young.

Speaker 2 (07:33):
Yeah, a very youthful voice.

Speaker 4 (07:36):
Do you have the energy to match that, because with
three babies, you're gonna need it.

Speaker 6 (07:40):
Oh yeah, I also have a daughter too, on top
of the other three.

Speaker 2 (07:43):
So you have a biological daughter. Yes, how old is she?

Speaker 6 (07:47):
She's nine?

Speaker 4 (07:48):
And the sibling group that you are adopting or have adopted, Our.

Speaker 6 (07:54):
Boys are five and four, and then our youngest is
going to be nine months on Thanksgiving.

Speaker 2 (08:02):
Your cup runneth over?

Speaker 6 (08:04):
Now?

Speaker 2 (08:05):
Is this it? Or do you think that God might
have more and planned for you?

Speaker 6 (08:08):
Well, we're accessing another one in March.

Speaker 2 (08:12):
Somebody's pregnant and you're adopting another one in March.

Speaker 6 (08:14):
They're birth mom. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (08:16):
Well, I'm glad that the children, the siblings will get
to stay together.

Speaker 2 (08:20):
That's wonderful.

Speaker 6 (08:21):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (08:22):
So you went from being a single a mom with
a single only child for right nine years to being
a family of four soon to be five.

Speaker 6 (08:30):
Well, we've been doing foster care for the last three years,
and so we've had twenty plus kids in and out
of our home. But our boys were our first placement
and they've been with us ever since.

Speaker 2 (08:42):
So they've been a part of your life for several
years since they were babies. Yep, You're the only family
they've known.

Speaker 4 (08:47):
Right all right, Well, congratulations, Happy holidays.

Speaker 2 (08:51):
Have fun hanging all those stockings.

Speaker 6 (08:53):
Thanks.

Speaker 2 (08:57):
