Speaker 1 (00:01):
Hey, it's Delilah. Thank you for stopping by. I have
put together some of my favorite radio moments here to
share with you on our daily podcast, Welcome Aboard, my friends.
Thank you for joining us during this week of rest
(00:22):
and relaxation, this week of family time, as we begin
a new year. This week, I'm going to be sharing
some of the best, some of my all time favorite
calls as we reflect upon this past year and look
forward with hope in our heart. Welcome to Hey it's Delilah. Hi,
(00:45):
good evening. You've called the Delilah Show. Who is this? Hey, Delia,
what can I do for you?
Speaker 2 (00:52):
Well?
Speaker 3 (00:52):
I think this is something that only you can help
me with. I've got a niece who's about to be
moving to the coast. My sister's got a new job
there and she's going to move to live with my
older sister in the same area. So I've just been
having a really rough time with.
Speaker 1 (01:09):
It because you're going to miss your family.
Speaker 3 (01:12):
Why, just because I had a very dark period in
my life, and that's when my niece was born and
she became a white that really just shone bright for me.
She's only six, and just the thought of her being
ten hours away. Brings tears to my eyes. Even though
(01:32):
I know it's probably what's best for my sister. She'll
have a better job, better pay, and she'll have my
older sister there to help with the kids and things.
The heartaches just still there.
Speaker 1 (01:46):
Caleb. It sounds to me what you need to be
looking for is not a song, but an apartment close
to your sisters and your niece where they're moving to
so you can be with your family.
Speaker 3 (01:56):
I know, but I grew up in a small town
and gay. So I made a promise to myself years
ago that until I changed the small town, which I
have a bit, that I wouldn't leave it.
Speaker 4 (02:09):
Yet.
Speaker 3 (02:10):
I've got a little more work to do.
Speaker 1 (02:12):
Caleb, you think that God would call you to change
the hearts of foolish people instead of being close to
the people that you love. Really, that's where God wants
you to put your energy.
Speaker 3 (02:25):
It's not me than who.
Speaker 1 (02:29):
First off, you cannot change somebody's opinion or change their heart.
You cannot. Only God can do that. All you can
do is be a light in the darkness period, end
of story. You will never change somebody's opinion of you
(02:50):
or anybody. You won't You can't. It is an impossible
thing to do.
Speaker 3 (02:55):
I think you're right.
Speaker 1 (02:57):
You know I'm right. Yeah, all you can do is
live your best life, and your best life your energy
is best spent loving people.
Speaker 3 (03:09):
That is very true.
Speaker 1 (03:11):
You have such a big heart. You have such a
big heart. Go share that love.
Speaker 3 (03:17):
Well, it looks like I might need to buy some luggage.
Speaker 1 (03:23):
I'll send you the packing tape. All right, sweetheart, Thank you, honey,
God bless you. Hello, good evening, Welcome to the Delilah Show.
Who is this?
Speaker 2 (03:40):
Well, Hey, Delilah, It's Tom. How are you doing, Tom?
Speaker 1 (03:43):
I'm good. What can I do for you?
Speaker 2 (03:46):
Well, it's my fortieth twenty anniversary, so I was wondering
if you could play a sappy love song.
Speaker 1 (03:51):
Happy anniversary, Happy anniversary, Happy anniversary, Happy anniversary. Forty years.
That's amazing and today world it is.
Speaker 4 (04:02):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (04:02):
It started pretty funny too. I dated her back when
I was in my late teens. She dumped me for
my best friend and things went downhill for a while.
I moped around for a couple of years and things
didn't work out for her and my ex best friend
and I played church organ and her father was in
(04:23):
the same church, and after one service came out and said, listen,
we like your son. Here's forty bucks, take her out
one more time and the risk of history. So it stuck.
Speaker 1 (04:37):
Your father in law paid you the money to take
his daughter on a date.
Speaker 2 (04:43):
Yeah, and I've never let her forget it for forty years.
It's my favorite.
Speaker 1 (04:47):
Gosh, that is precious. He's like, I know you're broke.
I know you ain't got a dime to your name.
She's got a good appetite. She'll eat a steak, dig
her out to dinner.
Speaker 2 (05:01):
There you go.
Speaker 1 (05:02):
I love this story. What did you have for dinner?
Speaker 2 (05:05):
It was kind of a guy meal. I wasn't really
thinking back then, so it was all like ninety percent
meet you know, ten percent roughage and lightus and all that.
So she almost dumped me again after the meal. But
I mean, I had a great dinner.
Speaker 1 (05:18):
So you had a great dinner with her father's forty bucks.
Speaker 2 (05:23):
That's right, that's right. But she warmed up to meet Delilah.
Speaker 1 (05:26):
Oh my word, tell me your wife's name.
Speaker 2 (05:29):
Her name is Gwendolen.
Speaker 1 (05:31):
I will find a beautiful love song. I'm so glad
your father in law believed in you. That is just
the sweetest story I have heard in years. How about
your mother in law? Was she was? She?
Speaker 2 (05:44):
Was?
Speaker 1 (05:45):
She on your team too?
Speaker 2 (05:46):
You know they were both on my team. Absolutely, she's
She's still with us, and bless her soul still sings
my praises even though you know, I don't know if
it's Yeah, I got better than I deserved, Delilah.
Speaker 1 (06:02):
Good for you, and good for you for recognizing that.
Let me play a song for you too. Thank you
for calling.
Speaker 2 (06:09):
All right, all the bads take care?
Speaker 1 (06:20):
Hi Greg, how are you this evening?
Speaker 4 (06:24):
I'm doing fine. I'm having a wonderful day, and I'm
missing a very special lady friend of mine.
Speaker 1 (06:30):
Who is this lady friend you're missing? And how can
I bridge the distance?
Speaker 4 (06:35):
Her name is Kelly, and we have both been through
a lot in life, and we actually only began spending
time together and talking five or six months ago, and
we are first and foremost friends, and that we have
(06:55):
both discussed is more important actually than romance right now
in our lives, and I cherish her friendship greatly. She
has helped me get through the aftermath of two very
severe losses in my life. My son died unexpectedly of
a drug overdose, three and a half years ago, and
my wife died after a four year battle with pancreatic cancer.
(07:19):
Well was three years ago this past Saturday that she died.
And Kelly has just been a wonderful friend and I
just want her to know that. But she has her
own interests, her own life, and she has her own
family and grandchildren, and so do I. But she's just
a very special lady.
Speaker 1 (07:40):
Sounds like a total gift from above to help you
through all that time.
Speaker 4 (07:44):
Absolutely. In fact, I kind of long story, but I
caught a glimpse of her in a dream after I
prayed to the Lord about a number of things, and
the next day she came and sat down at a
church bence right in front. I mean, I realized, well,
(08:05):
we really do need to be talking, and we have
ever since so and I shared that with her recently.
And she's just a very special lady. I don't know
what the Lord has in mind for my future or hers,
but I'm just so blessed to be a friend of hers.
Speaker 1 (08:23):
Sounds to me like God knew exactly who you needed
at the moment you needed her, and even gave you
a little preview of the goodness to come, and I
pray your friendship last for all eternity.
Speaker 4 (08:39):
I hope so. I don't know what else will develop
from this friendship, but I cherish it very very much.
Speaker 1 (08:47):
All Right, I will play a sweet song for Kelly,
and I am so sorry for all your loss. I
pray God heals your heart.
Speaker 4 (08:55):
Thank you very much, and thank you for all you
do for everybody.
Speaker 5 (09:05):
Hi. Cool are you doing, Delilah?
Speaker 1 (09:07):
I'm good? How are you?
Speaker 5 (09:09):
Oh so great? I've listened to your show for a
really long time.
Speaker 1 (09:14):
Thank you.
Speaker 5 (09:15):
I really enjoyed this everything you do.
Speaker 1 (09:18):
Now that you made it through, what can I do
to make your night a little brighter?
Speaker 5 (09:22):
Well, I'm just sitting here just really really longing for love.
I'd like a girl that I can love and that
loves me.
Speaker 1 (09:31):
So you're feeling a little lonely, like there's something missing
from your life and you're ready for a forever love.
How old are you?
Speaker 5 (09:39):
I'm only fifteen, so.
Speaker 1 (09:42):
Okay, maybe not for a forever love, but you'd like
someone they to ask you to tolo.
Speaker 5 (09:47):
Yes, ma'am, not yet for forever.
Speaker 1 (09:50):
Well, you sound very mature. Cool.
Speaker 5 (09:52):
Oh well, fortunately you don't know the half of it.
I'm really working on it though.
Speaker 1 (09:58):
All right, confession session. What's the worst thing you got
in trouble for that? Your folks said that you had
to grow up and stop acting so imature.
Speaker 5 (10:06):
Oh, I just went on this like tangent of saying
mean things to my parents and like doing like I
was mad and I did all this kind of kind
of rude things, and it just all came back and
bit me in the back and all this stuff got
taken away. I was in trouble for a while. So
just whenever I keep going downhill.
Speaker 1 (10:24):
Are you getting decent grades? Are you passing school?
Speaker 5 (10:27):
Yes, ma'am. I'm really trying to stay focused. I get
really distracted.
Speaker 1 (10:32):
So what's the biggest distraction? Is it electronics?
Speaker 5 (10:35):
How'd you know?
Speaker 4 (10:36):
Yes, ma'am, it is, because that's.
Speaker 1 (10:37):
The biggest distraction for everybody your age.
Speaker 5 (10:40):
Yeah. Yeah, I'm fascinated by electronics, whether it's like playing
video games or taking them apart, I don't get.
Speaker 1 (10:47):
My biggest problem with those video games is that it
takes you out of real life.
Speaker 4 (10:53):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (10:54):
Well, in my defense, i'd like to say that I do.
I am a pretty big music person. I do piano,
I play the obo harmonica too.
Speaker 1 (11:04):
But I see what you mean by that, how much
developed would your skills be if you spent the same
amount of time practicing the piano or the obo or
the harmonica that you want to spend playing video games
every night.
Speaker 5 (11:20):
Yeah, that makes sense. I need to work on that
and try and see that spend that time and spend
it better.
Speaker 1 (11:27):
I will play a song for you. I really think
you're an amazing young man. And listen to your folks.
They love you.
Speaker 5 (11:35):
Yes, ma'am, thank you, thank you, God.
Speaker 1 (11:38):
Bless you. Cool. I so hope you have enjoyed these
radio moments as much as I enjoy bringing them to you.
I'll share more with you each weeknay on, Hey, it's Delilah.
