(00:00):
Hi, Jeff, Hey Terry, how are you doing good? I'm so
good? All right, So Terry, let's talk about let's you get a
lot going on. Let's talk firstof all about the summer tour which is
pretty awesome called the Letting It GoShow with Culture Club and Howard Jones.
I have to think, because whenI think about watching MTV in nineteen eighty

(00:20):
three, it was Berlin and HowardJones and Culture Club kind of all the
time. Did you guys have achance to play together very much back in
those days? No, neither oneof them. Isn't that weird? Really
exciting for me because we didn't playwith Culture Club until about two thousand and

(00:44):
three ish, two thousand and fourish, and just recently we did a
couple more shows with them and theywent really well and we all really liked
each other, which is important whenyou're on the road weeks and months at
a time. So yeah, they'redoing a tour of America and Australia and
asked if we would join, andwe were thrilled. I had a chance

(01:07):
to interview boy George last year, and what a just a fun, happy
character. He sounded like he wasin such a good place and was just
it sounded like he said he saidthe band is better now than it ever
has been, and he seemed reallyexcited to be back out and touring.
And uh, and that's cool thatyou and Howard Jones are going out with
them. Yeah, I really likedthe show. That was another reason that

(01:30):
I wanted to do a tour withhim. It's a good show. Yeah,
it's really like it's not what Iexpected. It's he's like, you
know, it's such a cool, like jazzy kind of you know, it's
like pitch you in the head rock. It's it's just yeah, liked it.

(01:53):
You heard it from Terry nine folks. That's exactly That's what you could
expect, right, That's like,oh, very descriptive. I like that.
Well, it was he he wasjust such a character, but sounded
like he was having so much fun. And I think it's great that you
guys are going out and Howard Jones. I mean, so many great songs

(02:14):
from Howard Jones. I think HowardJones is one of those guys where you
see the show. I've seen hima couple of times live and the people
around here like, oh, Iforgot he did this one. Oh yeah,
I forgot about this one. Ohyeah. He's got so many more
songs that kind of kind of sneaksup on you. How many hits he
has. Yeah, he is anamazing songwriter, both of them. I
mean, they're just iconic artists.Yeah, these kind of events are once

(02:38):
in a lifetime events for me.It's because also, you don't you know,
only a number of people are goingto get to see it, are
going to get to be there thatnight. For example, I just tried
to get tickets for the Garbage metricguy from Oasis show. Oh yeah,

(03:00):
sold out, And it's like that'sit. You know, it's like I'm
not going to get to be therethat night, you know. It's it's
it's these these combinations of bands areso unique and so special. There's just
a vibe that happens, and andthat's why I recommend people come because it's
not just each individual. It's anight, you know, it's a it's

(03:23):
an experience. Yeah, that's areally good way to put it. Terry.
And obviously you've toured with a lotof people over the years, but
this particular you know, Boy Georgeand Culture Club, Howard Jones, Berlin
has never been put together before,so I guess that's maybe where the name
the Letting It Go show. Youguys are just letting it all go.
We're letting it go. Can youcan you swear on your on your show

(03:46):
or no? No, no,but I can. Well, I get
you can if you want, becausebecause part of the part of this is
on the radio show and the otherpart is on my podcast show. So
let it rip, let her ripif you want to. What he's saying
is let that shit, got thatshit go tonight. That's the real name
of the tour right there. Films, that's the real name. Yeah.

(04:08):
Well, Terry, it's so greatto talk to you again. The last
time we spoke a few years ago, we were talking about The Top Gun.
Maverick was still a year or twoaway from coming out. Obviously,
it was a gigantic movie last year, and you played such a key role
in the first one, and Ithink it's so great. Now you've got

(04:29):
a new version of Take My BreathAway out and this is all part of
your box set called Strings Attached.Tell me some more about that. We
were approached by this record company fromEngland who put together bands an artists with
philharmonic orchestras, and we played withtwo philharmonic orchestras for this album. What

(04:53):
I loved about it the idea andthen the execution is that it's not just
a philharmonic orchestra reimagining your song. It's it's it's the orchestra playing with us.
Yeah, and and and playing ourhits and a couple of deeper cuts
that they wanted on the record. So it's this experience of the song,

(05:16):
but it's bigger. Wow, it'sjust I've sung with orchestras myself before,
never in this situation with a band, you know, with my band playing
my songs, and they're adding allof these parts and extor melodies, and
like it's just like it's epic.I was crying. Oh I bet well,

(05:41):
yeah, because you're probably feeling thiswhole added dimension of your songs that
that you didn't necessarily have when youdid the originals are toured with just the
band, I would have to thinkthat it was so much more enhanced.
Yeah, I mean, they're doingstuff I could never think of. It's
not my willhouse, you know, the whole orchestral world. It's so beautiful,

(06:03):
but it's not what I do.You know, I'm in the pop
rock world, so it's completely differentand getting to hear it this way.
Yeah, yeah, it was majestic. I love it. So there's an
exclusive deluxe edition CD box set whereyou can buy it at Berlin music dot

(06:23):
net. Over fifty brand new recordings. So we really invite everybody listening to
check that out for sure. Andof course the tour is going on as
you as you play songs all theseyears later, Terry, is there one
moment where you're like, oh,I can't wait till we do take my
breath Away? Or is it Ican't I can't wait till we do the

(06:45):
metro? Or or is it somesort of b side that you know?
What is what is that moment thatyou always look forward to? Or is
every night kind of different? Everynight is different because every audience is different.
It's a whole different vibe. Youknow, never repeat it only spirals
up and you can try and recreateit, but it doesn't ever do that.

(07:06):
So what I've noticed is standing infront of an audience they're interacting,
it's a completely different energy. It'salways great, you know, unless you
do something to make them hate you, like I remember one time I said
the wrong city name. I havenever experienced a crowd turn against me in

(07:26):
one second, like that's nice.Yeah, and it was my fault,
you know, I've you know,we've just been out of the road or
whatever is. There's no excuse forthat. So yeah, that's happened.
But usually, you know, peopleare there because they love it. They
love the music. They want tobe there. They're there with their girl
or their guy and their beer andthey're you know whatever. They're just they

(07:47):
want to have fun, they wantto have a great time, and they
want to feel the love that theyhave for the music and hear the music,
and you know, that's what itis. It's better than any drug
I've ever had. So yeah,it's it's it's a it's it's a different
experience. But what I notice isthe Metro when we do that song,

(08:09):
it just has something I can't explainit. I don't understand it, but
that that song when it comes on, people lose their minds and and it's
it's and and so do I becauseI watch them lose their minds. Now
I'm losing my mind and we're alllosing our minds and have an amazing times.
So that's that's a moment in theshow. There's there's a few,

(08:33):
but that's definitely a moment the showwhere I look forward to, you know,
exploding with them on that one.Love it and you know it's got
that cool pulsating beat. So I'msure that that just gets the crowd all
fired up. And we're very excitedto have you in Cincinnati on August fifth,
and uh we're giving away tickets forit, so it's it's going to
be so awesome. So uh now, I although I do have to ask,

(08:56):
is Cincinnati the city that you've forgotbefore? Is there? Was it
since Sinnati or somewhere else? Doyou remember? No, it wasn't Cincinnati
because my mother was born in Cincinnati. I would not forget that. Hello
everybody there you go, Well, there's no way you'd forget that. Well,
that's right. You know what.I'm sure every artist, for me,
every every artist has probably done thatmore than once. Don't you think

(09:20):
I only needed to do it onceand experience that kind of anger and wrath?
Yeah, that I did it once. I got the message. Yeah,
message delivered. Thank you very much, everybody. Well, Terry Nutt
was so excited to see you guyswith Boy Georgian Culture Club and Howard Jones.
But glad that Berlin is back outthere and it's going to be obviously

(09:43):
a great summer for you guys.August fifth is in Cincinnati, home of
Terry's mom and UH, and we'regoing to look forward to to seeing you
guys out the summer. It's gonnabe great. So nice to talk to
you again, Paul Jeff, thankyou for including me.
