I am I Ryan. The telephone number is four oh
seven nine one six one oh four one. Okay, you
guys know how I am. I gotta get better.
Speaker 5 (02:19):
You got a beard?
Speaker 4 (02:23):
Is that really seen you? You know you've been in
here five minutes.
Speaker 3 (02:28):
I didn't look up.
Speaker 4 (02:31):
Yeah, yes, I made a bet with with Ryan that
I wouldn't shaved in October. Uh yeah, yeah, Well are
you looking at me with a funny face with the.
Speaker 5 (02:38):
I I've never seen you like that before.
Speaker 4 (02:41):
I know you're not making a comment one way or
the other.
Speaker 5 (02:44):
I don't know what to say.
Speaker 6 (02:46):
She's taking it.
Speaker 4 (02:47):
All in, right, he's take it in. You think about it.
Let me let me get all this off my chest
so I can be we can you want to have
big dumb fun today. I gotta get the start with
the sad. Yeah, I start with the sad.
Speaker 5 (02:58):
That's just sad.
Speaker 4 (02:58):
I got into this. I gotta get to it. I
gotta get it off my chest. And once I get
off my chest and we can go and have a
big dumb fun. No, you won't be sad.
Speaker 3 (03:07):
You don't know, you don't know what I'm like.
Speaker 4 (03:09):
Listen, you know, I got to get it off my chest.
So if I don't get it off my chest, I.
Speaker 5 (03:12):
Would be beard is freaking me out.
Speaker 4 (03:15):
Okay, forget about the beard for a second. Can you
let me be sad for a second, because I forget
about it. It's on your face and she's really close.
You've never seen me with a beard before? Yes, Okay, Yeah,
well it was a bet I made. Was that?
Speaker 7 (03:29):
No?
Speaker 4 (03:31):
Okay? So uh, now you guys didn't know this. You
know when we did the show yesterday, Yesterday was the
one year anniversary of the passing of my sister. And
that's the reason my friends came out, Uh, Mary Beth
and Kim Hooker. They were worried I was going to
be in a bad mood, so they want to come
out and you know, make sure I was okay. Uh.
And then after the show, Angel came out and Ryan
you didn't actually get there for this, but a bunch
(03:53):
of us got together and we did like a shot,
you know, for Karl, and I was actually pretty good.
I was feeling pretty good. I'm like, you know, it's
not you know, you know I've come to terms with this.
I've done a lot of stuff with the Carla K
Cancer screening fun to kind of help myself go through this.
I didn't get really sad. I was all really good,
and then on the way home and I had been
hearing stuff already. And I don't want to say exactly
(04:14):
who it is, but I knew somebody on the inside
who was actually at the hospital and had I found
out before even the news found out that Ace Freely
from Kiss passed away. And look, I know it sounds
stupid and it's ridiculous for most people. You're like, this
is a guy in a band, what's the big deal?
Since I was twelve years old, I've been a huge
(04:36):
Kiss fan, and I remember for years and years, I'm
always going, who's the first member of Kiss is going
to die? It's going to be so sad that day,
that whatever day that is, it's going to be the
saddest thing ever, you know. And so I've always thought
about it, and me and my friends the same way,
like who do you think it's going to be? I
be Peter, he's oldest, you know, he'll be the one.
So Ace Freely, the lead guitar player, for kiss, just
(04:56):
fell and hit his head and got a a brain
bleed like that. That simple, that's simple. Like it wasn't drugs,
it wasn't alcohol, it wasn't it wasn't cancer. It was
just you know, he always was known for uh falling
down that they matter of fact, he's got even got
a song and an album called trouble Walking. I've got
(05:17):
trouble Walking because he was stumbled around on stage and
that was kind of his gimmick or whatever. And he
fell in his house, hit his head and had a
brain bleed and and they had to take him off
of you know, he was in the hospital and the
coma kind of thing and uh, and they took him
off and he and he passed away. So I knew
about it before other people, so I posted it like,
you know, like, man, this is this is really sad.
(05:39):
And then of course everybody wanted to come at me
because I hadn't been in the news yet. Uh we
know he's he's still in the hospital, he's fine. I'm like,
I happen to know that he's not. Uh but uh,
but that that combined with my sister thing, then that
made me super sad. Then then then then I I
will admit I did cry, and it's all now, why.
Speaker 3 (06:01):
Would you cry?
Speaker 4 (06:03):
Why would you cry about someone you don't even I
mean I met him one time and I actually met
him with Ryan Holmes. Do you know this story?
Speaker 5 (06:10):
No?
Speaker 4 (06:10):
Okay, so Ryan.
Speaker 3 (06:12):
Holmes, I'm not a big loss. He's a friend of mine.
Speaker 4 (06:14):
Ryan Holmes, and I, uh, go with the jacket?
Speaker 5 (06:17):
Is this the jacket store?
Speaker 4 (06:18):
Yeah? We go? Actually I wanted to. I bought this
jacket and I and I tried to put it on
and it didn't fit. So it didn't fit me. So
I said, well, Ryan, and he brought it in today,
went at ass he brought it in today.
Speaker 3 (06:31):
Uh, my friend liked my jacket.
Speaker 4 (06:34):
So we so we got. We go backstage and Ryan's
wearing my jacket that I bought, but I couldn't fit
in it because I was super fat, and I wore
another jacket and Ace Freely is We're backstage at hard
Rock Live. Ace Freely comes walking and I get nervous
because you fan boys listen, I'm a huge fan, right
and Ace is one of my favorites, Like he was
an incredible guitar player and I've all you know, always
(06:55):
lived and there's a and and Ace looks at at
Ryan and he's like, hey, Curly, nice jacket, which is
very a very ace freely thing to say.
Speaker 8 (07:05):
And he talked to you for a little bit, right, Yeah,
we hung out because I wasn't being weird. I was
just talking to him like a human being.
Speaker 4 (07:11):
That's what he did. That was his thing. He loved
He loved the Three Stooges, so he would call people curly.
Speaker 3 (07:16):
That was his thing, Curly, I love my jacket.
Speaker 8 (07:19):
We were talking then Russ is just standing off to
the side like a weirdo.
Speaker 3 (07:22):
I'm talking to my new friend.
Speaker 4 (07:24):
Yeah. Yeah, uh But I got a picture with him,
and that's the picture that I put up yesterday of
of me and Ace. But yeah, man, and once again
I'm on the on this thing where it's like, you know,
as you get older and your heroes die and then
your your friends, you know, die and people die, it
just makes you just think, man, you gotta you gotta
have a good day every day and don't let things,
(07:46):
don't think things bother you, don't get upset with people, don't.
Speaker 8 (07:48):
Bought all the money and the fighting and that he
did for years back and forth, and then.
Speaker 3 (07:53):
You just just a fall and have a brain bleed.
Speaker 6 (07:55):
I know.
Speaker 4 (07:56):
And it's crazy, isn't it crazy? You just follo, Yes, yeah,
you're right, that's what it was. A bump on the head.
A bump on the head can kill you. That's that is.
Speaker 5 (08:06):
Two of your friends have passed away from bumps on
the head.
Speaker 4 (08:09):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. But I don't know. I don't
know why a member of my favorite band is such
a big deal, because it's kind of a dumb reason
to be all.
Speaker 3 (08:18):
You're sad about your sister too.
Speaker 4 (08:20):
I am sad about my sister, and.
Speaker 3 (08:23):
This is somehow allowing you to grieve through that. Yeah,
if I had to like put on the old Doctor GREENEI.
Speaker 4 (08:29):
Had it is because I was fighting it off pretty
good yesterday. Like I wasn't getting sad about Carla, and
I would go online and all my all her friends
were posting pictures of her, and I'm like, okay, I
won't look at that. I'm gonna look at that. I'm
not gonna look at that because that's gonna make me sad.
So I was able to really avoid it all day.
And then when I found out Ace Freely died, it
(08:50):
was like it was like a man, it flowed out. Yeah.
Speaker 8 (08:55):
I realized about halfway through the show it was the
year anniversary since your sister passed.
Speaker 3 (08:59):
Yeah, And I was like, he's not going to bring
it up at all.
Speaker 4 (09:03):
I did one time when I read that, when I
read the live read for Life Imaging, I said, Hey,
this is a one year anniversary. And when I said it,
I almost started to cry. And I'm like, oh, I
shouldn't have said that, you know, because if I can,
if I can stuff it down in a box and
pretend it's not there, then you don't have the bad feelings.
Speaker 6 (09:21):
That sounds healthy.
Speaker 3 (09:22):
Yeah, that sounds good.
Speaker 5 (09:23):
I feel like that's what makes tumors.
Speaker 4 (09:25):
I don't know if that's what it makes. But but
I fought it all day Savannah, and that even when
we did the shot yesterday Angel, because we got some
tequila and I did a shot and I did a
toast to my sister with my friends and everybody, and
I was like, Okay, good and that was that was
she would like that. She I was thinking about her,
laughing about that. That was good. And I was talking
to Dale about Ace. I even said it at the
end of the show, didn't I didn't I bring it
(09:46):
up to Dale at the end of the show because
you asked me if if I would be sad if
if Tommy Thayer died, and like, well, no, no, I'm
really an original member, so I wouldn't cry. Uh. So
I brought up to him and he like he had
not heard any of that, and and then on the
drive home I found out that that he had died.
And so then last night I was obsessed with Okay,
(10:08):
is Ace Freely, you know, my favorite, one of my
favorite guys from Kiss? Is he a big enough, big
enough news to be on World News tonight? Like are
they going to announce this on the NBC News that
Ah Freely from Kiss has passed away? And and Mary
Ellen She's like, like, most people don't know who he is,
probably not Russ. I'm like yeah, And I got offended.
I'm like, I'm like, yes, they do. He's like just
(10:30):
one of the biggest rock and roll Hall of Fame.
They they definitely will mention, uh that that Ah Freeley
passed away. And so I'm watching the news like, oh,
come on, please say it, please please believe and and
and it looked like they were going to ignore it.
And then right at the end they were like breaking news,
you know, and they showed his picture and they said
that he had passed, and and uh and for some
reason that made me happy. I don't know why. It
(10:52):
makes no sense. I can just tell you my feelings.
I can't always understand them. It made me happy that
they acknowledged him, uh nationally, not only just one NBC,
but ABC CB like everywhere they uh, you know, they
acknowledged the fact that he had passed.
Speaker 3 (11:07):
Who's next? Though we had Diane Keaton, we now we
have eight. I don't know, go one more? Probably will
be any to go one more?
Speaker 5 (11:14):
You're right, always in threes, ill.
Speaker 4 (11:17):
But someone I don't like that much, you know, I
don't know they can take another good one, you know,
another one that means a lot to me. But uh yeah,
I guess there probably is some weird thing where I
was equating my sisters that because it happened on like
the same day, So it really wasn't making it wasn't
making it easy to forget about death, That's what it was.
Speaker 8 (11:38):
It reminds you that death is around, yeah, right around
the corner, and you're looking at it, you know.
Speaker 4 (11:43):
I know he was seventy four, so I'm sixty. That's
fourteen years.
Speaker 9 (11:47):
Well that's a long time. Not really, fourteen years is
a long time.
Speaker 4 (11:51):
No, it's not.
Speaker 9 (11:52):
It is when you don't go by fast in your life.
But it's a long time.
Speaker 4 (11:55):
Well, if it goes by fast, that means death is
knocking on its doors.
Speaker 5 (12:00):
Fourteen years. That's not knocking on your door.
Speaker 4 (12:04):
It's like down the bring, it's in the neighborhood.
Speaker 5 (12:08):
It's not in the neighborhood.
Speaker 4 (12:10):
It's two blocks away. Man.
Speaker 9 (12:12):
It might be pulling into the to the Cold de Sac,
but it ain't that close.
Speaker 3 (12:16):
It's circling.
Speaker 4 (12:17):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (12:17):
Well, I mean, if anybody's likely to fall from a
bump on their head and the brain bleed, I feel
like it's you.
Speaker 4 (12:23):
I don't fall I'm not a faller. I'm not.
Speaker 8 (12:25):
I'm doing all this wrestling stuff. Man, you're sixty years
old getting in that ring. That's a good that's a
good way to get a brain bleed.
Speaker 4 (12:31):
That's a man. I still got it. If I still
got it, I still got it.
Speaker 3 (12:34):
Yeah, as though he still had it too, brain bleed.
Speaker 4 (12:36):
He was just walking in his house and just fell
and hit his head.
Speaker 5 (12:39):
How many times are you falling in your house?
Speaker 4 (12:41):
Never.
Speaker 8 (12:42):
I know how it's gonna happen. He's gonna he's be
walking around his house. He's gonna be wearing his loose shorts.
He's gonna put his phone in his pockets, hold pants
fall down, and then he getting tangled up, falls down,
brain bleed.
Speaker 5 (12:52):
Didn't that happen on your ring cam or something?
Speaker 4 (12:55):
Well out? Yeah, I have these shorts that don't have
the string. The string fell out, you know, and I
didn't want to put the things back in. And if
I put my phone in my pocket sometimes it'll pull
my pants down.
Speaker 3 (13:05):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (13:06):
So, I mean, I don't want to call it. I
don't want to be a no Stradamis this string back in?
Speaker 4 (13:11):
You know the string that I lost it?
Speaker 3 (13:14):
And buy new pants? You're a successful adult. I'd buy
some new damn pants.
Speaker 4 (13:19):
I kind of like them. They're really comfy pants. Oh god,
is there any Is there any celebrity that they passed
would make you go into a depression or sadness or
make you cry? I don't know, Angel you like one
of the guys from Oasis dies.
Speaker 7 (13:31):
I always reference because this, I mean happened and I
was here at work. It was really bummed me out
for weeks after Prince passed.
Speaker 4 (13:38):
Prince did you cry?
Speaker 7 (13:41):
I think we because Amanda was in the in the
uh in the office with me, and I think, uh, yeah,
I think I did.
Speaker 6 (13:47):
Yeah, I think I teared up. I know I did
when I talked about it on the air.
Speaker 4 (13:52):
Right, Yeah, I cried. And once again, this is weird.
I mean, I don't know when Dusty Rhodes died the
same day that that batman Adam West died the exact
same day, and then now I got Ace Freely died
on the same day as my sister. That one of
the odds.
Speaker 5 (14:07):
Just crazy.
Speaker 4 (14:09):
Yeah, I know you have no you have no empathy
for any of this. You didn't, you do not. You're
you're staring at my beard and you're laughing at me. Uh,
and you have no empathy. Sadness.
Speaker 6 (14:20):
We have a third, but I don't.
Speaker 7 (14:21):
It's it's gonna be weird because it's going to be
a symbol of different Americas, right, because the third should
be DiAngelo. But for some people, I don't. He doesn't
rise to that love, even though you have no idea
who he is.
Speaker 9 (14:33):
Yeah, I do, but I don't think he.
Speaker 5 (14:37):
I liked it. He's the brown sugar right.
Speaker 9 (14:42):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, so, but I think he is kind
of older, and nobody heard about him for a while.
Speaker 7 (14:47):
He was fifty one. Yeah, he was fifty one pancreatic cancer.
Speaker 4 (14:52):
Here's the thing, just so you know, he made national
news though it was it was on NBC.
Speaker 7 (14:56):
I mean he's probably right. That should for a lot
of people. I like to say, for me, if you
ask me, and I'll be.
Speaker 4 (15:02):
All that's the three have no idea who he really is. Yeah, yeah,
I mean that's just if you're a Kiss fan or whatever.
I mean. He wrote New York Groove, which is one
of their biggest hits, but he didn't write it. I'm
sorry he sang it. Someone else, Russ Ballat wrote it.
But anyway, uh, you better get your kiss right. Oh,
I know, how about you? Any celebrity that died, it
(15:24):
would make you cry.
Speaker 9 (15:25):
Dolly, Dolly Dolly. So do you see where Dolly was sick? Right,
and her sister told everybody, And then she came out
and said, my sister share does love the gossip.
Speaker 4 (15:33):
Yeah, yeah, that's such like approach. And then she did
that whole thing. I'm fine, I'm still working. Yeah, she's adorable.
Speaker 5 (15:42):
If something happened to Dolly. I think I think the
world will shut down.
Speaker 6 (15:45):
For I think that's a yeah, that's a different level.
Speaker 4 (15:47):
Yeah, that would be everybody. Like I don't think there's
anyone that doesn't like Dolly Parton.
Speaker 9 (15:53):
Guys, if you don't like Dolly Parton, you just got
your own problems to deal with.
Speaker 4 (15:58):
Something wrong with you.
Speaker 5 (15:58):
Okay, she's perfect.
Speaker 4 (16:00):
All right. I got that off my chest a little bit.
Speaker 3 (16:01):
So we'll we get Now we're all sad.
Speaker 4 (16:04):
Well, you don't need to be sad, my friend. I'm
just sharing with you that.
Speaker 3 (16:09):
I was wearing jacket.
Speaker 9 (16:10):
I'm just gonna say it has been an emotional twenty
four hours.
Speaker 4 (16:14):
We're gonna talk about that, and we're going to talk
about that.
Speaker 9 (16:16):
And they didn't go to sleep last night till like
I don't know too, like I had to go home
and reflect on my entire life.
Speaker 4 (16:22):
All Right, we'll talk about I want to hear with
the movie review, and then we got a bunch of
other stuff. Oh no, Melisa is coming in today from
the four oh seven of Fox thirty five. I invited
her to come in, so she'll be here at eight o'clock.
We've got a bunch of other stuff going on, So
don't go anywhere. You're listening to the mantra of the morning.
(16:46):
Oh yeah, one other little thing with the whole history
of the thing. For those of you who are big
Kiss fans, the original drummer, Peter Chris and his wife
Gigi were among family members that were with them when
he passed, which I don't know why that made me
feel good, but I know, like Paul and Jean were
anywhere around, but Peter Cris, the drummer of Kiss when
the original four, was with him when when he passed away.
(17:08):
So anyway, you know, I'll be listening to uh, I'll
be listening to Ah Freeley albums with the Way Home today,
Welcome back to the Mansest Morning's Radio one O four
four one. Why are you wearing that jacket? Ryan died?
Speaker 6 (17:20):
But that's a good looking jacket.
Speaker 3 (17:22):
A big fan of this jacket.
Speaker 5 (17:24):
He's trying to hurt your feeling.
Speaker 4 (17:26):
He did like he did like that jacket. It's a
badass jacket.
Speaker 3 (17:29):
By the bonded.
Speaker 4 (17:31):
I bought it and it fit me when I bought it,
and then by the time I went to wear it,
I couldn't fit it as so I gave it to
Ryan to wear. And then that was the thing that
made Ah Freeley come over and talk to him for
like five minutes. Uh and then and then I just
told A' how much I loved him, and he's like cool,
curly and he took a picture with me.
Speaker 5 (17:48):
Man, he thought you were weird.
Speaker 8 (17:50):
It was weird and like Russ didn't even care that
my friend Paul passed away and it's very offensive.
Speaker 4 (17:54):
That's his real name, of course it is. I know
what you're doing.
Speaker 3 (17:57):
There's Paul Daniel Daniel really Yeah, hung out.
Speaker 4 (18:02):
Hey so uh So we had a big day yesterday.
By the way, thank you to everybody that came out
to Daytona. Harley David said it was.
Speaker 7 (18:11):
That was as cool broadcast as we've ever done live
like that, just with all the intangibles that were going on.
Speaker 4 (18:17):
I was gonna say the same thing. I had so
much fun yesterday. The setup was great, the people there
were awesome.
Speaker 7 (18:24):
I saw the fans, man and I just kind of
echoes something you've said and Pat or even Ryan, we've
all mentioned this. Sometimes we forget the reach of the station.
So when we go back to a spot that we
haven't been in a while. Yeah, and just having people
come up and just man like just like the thank.
Speaker 4 (18:40):
Yous and from Georgia. Yeah, that guy Christ the little
girl that came out and every time we yeah you
didn't see this, saman I'll show it to you or whatever.
But this is a little girl that that came out
to see me yesterday. And she did the whole uh,
the Russ in the whole Russ intro like she every
day went to school, she does the Russ intro into
the car. Was adorable. It was so cool. What a
(19:02):
cool little family.
Speaker 6 (19:03):
Fourteen year old? What was it? William?
Speaker 7 (19:06):
And I think Blake, I think it was he had
the real cool old school Jake t shirt, you know.
Speaker 4 (19:11):
Yes, yeah, and he almost every monster has signed it
other than Tuttele and Savannah. He needs to get two
more people to sign it and he'll have everybody uh
has has signed it who was a monster, which is
pretty cool. Uh. And then you know, just so you
guys know, like that was a big deal to meet
with Teddy Mores because he owns how many how many
car dealerships it's six or seven? Yeah, he's h you know,
(19:33):
he's pretty well to do. And that's what we in
this business. You call a pretty good client to have, right, so,
you know us interviewing him and talking to him, Uh,
it was he was a cool dude. They want to
do a lot more with us. That's that's good business
for us. And uh and I was told afterwards, remember
I asked for that? I said, I just asked for
that sign. I'm like it says right there, you know,
called out advertising. Can you put a monster sign up there?
(19:54):
Afterwards they said, hey, Teddy said, give you guys a sign,
will put it up there for you, which is pretty cool,
Like you know, you don't ask, you don't know, you know,
I just.
Speaker 6 (20:02):
Got to follow up and get the design down and everything.
Speaker 4 (20:04):
Yeah, yeah, Geo's gonna do that. And I want to
think the sales executive that put it all together because
he made sure, you know, they got us rooms. They
made sure we were taken care of. They were drink
like like, you know, they really took care of us
the way they used to beckon.
Speaker 6 (20:18):
The old Bradney on the on Britney was on their side.
Speaker 7 (20:21):
Everyone that we interacted with over there at Teddy Morris,
Harley Davison, they were all fantastic. She mean you know
that the morning off she went and got like what
ten dozen donuts and that big huge craft of coffee and.
Speaker 4 (20:34):
Everything, and they got his waters and beers or whatever
we wanted, you know. So and then we all went
to lunch afterwards, and that was Nicelligan's Yeah.
Speaker 6 (20:41):
That was again.
Speaker 7 (20:42):
Shout out to every single one of you guys. I
texted and said, hey, you have to eat wings at
this place.
Speaker 4 (20:48):
Because they were the best wings I've had in a
long time. And you're right, and you were right. The
way that they make them and they make them crunchy
or whatever. That was good. Dale Torberg came and had
a legacy. Dale he is such a good guy. I
mean Dale Torberg. You know, he's the wrestler he played
the Demon.
Speaker 9 (21:04):
And ye ye ye yeah yeah yeah, yeah, yeah yeah yeah.
Speaker 4 (21:07):
He's super great guy and he knows so many people.
He just he is a good dude to know. Uh.
And I was in a really really good mood, you know,
the when we left, but you I had already said, listen,
I know me and I know I can't go home
or even just go to the movie at seven o'clock
movies probably two and a half hours, and then you know,
it's an hour drive home. I wouldn't be home till midnight.
(21:27):
I just couldn't do it and do the show on Friday.
But everybody else decided to go see the movie Christy,
which is about Christy Martin, and oh my, Sidney Sweeney
plays her, and the scuttle bud is this could be
her opportunity to be nominated for an Academy Award, Like
she's you know, she she's not being the beautiful bombshell.
(21:49):
She's being Christy Martin, a boxer that that attempted murder.
I mean, it's it's an incredible story. How was the movie? Now,
did you so?
Speaker 9 (22:00):
Before we talk about that part of it, can we
go over the part where when she and her husband
came into this show, because there was a lot I
didn't remember, and then I was trying to explain to
Angel and Ryan and Christina after the movie and then
I wasn't quite sure.
Speaker 5 (22:15):
On all the details. Yeah, yeah, right, So she came
into the show.
Speaker 4 (22:19):
All the time.
Speaker 9 (22:19):
Yeah, but the one time, like the first time she
came in, she was dressed in all white with like
tassels and stuff like that, right, correct, And the husband
was with her.
Speaker 4 (22:28):
And you did not like him at you had. You
told me as soon as they walked in and they
turned around with you like, I don't like it. I
got bad vibes, you told me. You told me right
off the bat you had bad vibes from him.
Speaker 5 (22:38):
And then did I give her my phone number? Like
a like A, like A, I think you're a hostage?
Speaker 4 (22:44):
Can I save you?
Speaker 9 (22:46):
You did, okay, because I couldn't remember if I did
or not.
Speaker 4 (22:49):
I remember, I'm like, I thought that's kind of weird,
and you're like, no, she needs me. I remember you
doing that because you got weirdo vibes from him from
the beginning. And then you kept telling me, hey, I
want her to come in and tell that other guy
not to come. I'm like, Samannah, that's her husband and
her manager. I can't do that.
Speaker 8 (23:05):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (23:06):
And you were like, well, get on me about it,
and and he would come in and you did not
like him at all, but you loved her.
Speaker 9 (23:13):
Yeah, because she was great and he was a monster.
We like, no, now.
Speaker 4 (23:19):
He tried to kill her. Now I have not seen
the I've not seen the movie, but she told me
that when you actually see it, and she's like, let
me telling you the story is one thing when you
see what happened.
Speaker 5 (23:29):
Yeah, I don't like that.
Speaker 9 (23:30):
Was my my like so many emotions through the whole thing,
you know, like I'm so glad that Angel and Ryan
were there with me, Like, uh, watching it happen, Yeah,
is a whole different ballgame from her telling us it happened.
Speaker 4 (23:46):
So who did ambergo? Did Daisy go?
Speaker 9 (23:49):
Daisy was there for like two minutes and then Amber
was there, but she had to go to the bathroom
a lot.
Speaker 3 (23:53):
Oh my god, that was small blood.
Speaker 9 (23:56):
The bathroom was very excessive and she went to the
bathroom more into ours than I do on a six
hour plane flight.
Speaker 3 (24:01):
I'm glad, like I hadn't been to the winter Park Village.
The Regal Cinema, God, what that thing blew up? They
upgraded it by quite a bit.
Speaker 8 (24:10):
Really, Oh yeah, they put in all those fancy seats
they could lean back.
Speaker 3 (24:13):
But they need to fix the they need like recliners.
Speaker 8 (24:15):
They need to fix the function where it sounds like
everybody's farting every time you try to do it.
Speaker 3 (24:19):
So it's like the movie.
Speaker 6 (24:20):
If you try to it doesn't matter at what point
of the movie. Yeah, it'll pull you.
Speaker 4 (24:25):
So you guys get there and Christie's Christy Martin. There
we keep saying Christy Mark. Christy Martin was a former
world champion boxer. She was right here from central Florida.
She was known as a coal miner's daughter, and she
was a frequent guest on our show way back in
the day.
Speaker 5 (24:43):
She lived in Daytona.
Speaker 4 (24:44):
Well, well know, she lived in a popcast.
Speaker 5 (24:46):
She lived in Daytona too.
Speaker 4 (24:47):
Did she? Okay, I didn't know about that. But but
but he and her would come in, and he was
a Spengali. He would tell her what to do, and
he was rude to her in front of us. But
then we'd go on the air and she would do
all the talking. He wouldn't talk on the air, I
don't think. And Savannah didn't like him at all and
didn't want him to come in. But I wanted Christy
Martin to come in. I didn't care about him very much.
(25:08):
And that happened several times, and then she lost the title,
and then we never saw her again, and then all
this other stuff happens that makes the news about him
trying to kill her.
Speaker 9 (25:17):
Yeah, like like so, I don't know, Like watching the
movie was really crazy and and there we was so
so like I went home last night, and I had
to like digest and like rehash my whole entire life,
right because the mom character in the movie was so
similar to my mom. Oh really oh Like I had
(25:40):
chills at different times in the in the movie, uh like,
because she was trying to explain to the mom, well,
he's doing this to me, and I need your help.
And she because he had preempted her on everything.
Speaker 7 (25:53):
She had got in between her and and he had
worked his way in between the daughter and the mother relationship.
Speaker 4 (25:59):
So the.
Speaker 6 (26:01):
Believe I believe this guy.
Speaker 4 (26:03):
Oh, I didn't believe.
Speaker 9 (26:04):
And so when Christy said it, she the bomb immediately
was like, well, I don't feel comfortable having this conversation
with you without Jim here, and he told me all
about the drugs that you're on, so she knew like
in that moment, like I don't have any help.
Speaker 4 (26:17):
Yeah heah.
Speaker 9 (26:19):
He saw my family, he saw my friends, He cut
everybody that I knew at and and they did such
a great job. Like domestic violence movies are, like, you know,
as a survivor of domestic violence myself, like when you
watch them, it's never exactly the way that it happens because.
Speaker 5 (26:35):
It's such a subtle thing.
Speaker 9 (26:38):
And it started from the very beginning. The first time
they had dinner together, like she just happened to be
at a restaurant in Daytona Beach. He walked in, she
was like, would you like to sit down? He was
already her trainer, but they didn't like each other really,
And then he sat down and she and the waitress
was like, are.
Speaker 5 (26:54):
You gonna have the pie like you normally do?
Speaker 9 (26:56):
And he looked at the waitress and he was like, no,
she'll have a black coffee. I don't want to train
of fighter.
Speaker 4 (27:01):
Oh damn.
Speaker 5 (27:01):
And then she didn't order the pie.
Speaker 9 (27:04):
So little teeny things like that, like take your power
away over time, and they did such an incredible job
of showing that process. So it started from the pie.
Then it turned into another thing. Then you need to
grow your hair because you kind of look like a dike.
Speaker 5 (27:19):
Then like moving it forward.
Speaker 9 (27:21):
I mean, I'm saying that's what he said in the movie,
like and then it kind of went forward, and then
you know, and then the infractions get bigger and bigger,
but it happens so subtly you don't kind of catch it,
and you could see like Sidney Sweeney's face, which I
could imagine was Christy Martin's face like kind of kind
of like being you know, like put away by it,
but like at the time at the same time being like, oh, okay,
(27:45):
I probably should do this.
Speaker 5 (27:46):
You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 9 (27:47):
And every sacrifice makes him more powerful in her less powerful, So.
Speaker 4 (27:52):
That are saying that, you know, Sidney Sweeney, this could
be her. You know, absolutely before nomination you could see
that Angel. Did you like the movie?
Speaker 7 (28:00):
It's heavy, dude, It's a it's a definitely a very
heavy movie. It's uh, it's weird in the context of
I've heard her. I've Christy Martin the times that she
came in before I was involved in the station and
she shared the uh or like you guys were interviewing her,
and then after the fact she's come in and told
these stories and then it's a completely different thing when
(28:22):
you see it up on the big screen. Yeah, and
you know, one of the like throughout a whole bunch
of chilling moments that throughout the whole movie. Uh, when
when it actually happens the you know, the the horrible,
horrible part.
Speaker 4 (28:35):
Of the PA.
Speaker 7 (28:38):
But the randomness of it that it was a neighbor,
just driving through it, right through the neighbor.
Speaker 6 (28:43):
And then that guy's there last.
Speaker 4 (28:44):
Night, Yeah, really, yeah.
Speaker 7 (28:46):
She brought him up. He's like, this is my guardian angel.
Oh my god, this is the guy. And he's only
I mean he's on screen the character or the actor
who plays who you know, it's not no one in specific,
but that whole scene that he's there is probably a minute. Yeah,
you know, but that minute in her life changed, you know,
saved her, you know.
Speaker 4 (29:06):
And I do want to point this out once again.
You said it earlier, and you're so right. It is.
It is so weird that you know, when she came
in for the interview, it wasn't that long. I think
they went to the bathroom or something where you pulled
me aside and you said that guy, I mean, you
nailed him like that. And you did give her the number,
your number to call you if she needed anything because
(29:27):
you were and where do you think how do you
think you had that telepathy or that that because.
Speaker 9 (29:32):
I had been through it, you know, like a lot
of people might not know that, and I don't talk
about it that much these days, but like, you know,
there were I had a super abusive boyfriend that also
tried to kill me, not just once, but multiple times.
And I don't know if like.
Speaker 4 (29:49):
Said before we met before we yeah yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 9 (29:51):
Yeah, why because you think people are gonna think it's you, No,
well just killed you.
Speaker 5 (29:58):
So yeah, it was a long time ago. It was
in California.
Speaker 9 (30:01):
I was in the military at the time, and like
you know, and he just like in the subtlety of
it and stuff like that, and like the way that
it all happened and and like you know, so I
feel like my my body, my internal my whole self
is very very hyper vigilant to that, like and.
Speaker 4 (30:19):
You picked up on it right away, just the way
he was treating her just in the studio with us, Yeah,
in one segment. Yeah yeah, And I remember that du clearly.
Speaker 5 (30:28):
And I and I remember.
Speaker 9 (30:29):
His face and then like seeing his face on the
screen was like making me so angry.
Speaker 4 (30:34):
Does the actor look like him?
Speaker 5 (30:35):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (30:36):
Does? He really does?
Speaker 9 (30:36):
And he's got like dead pan eyes, like no emotion.
Speaker 7 (30:40):
And the son of a bitch that they cast for this,
Like I hate him in real life or do you
yeah look cool? Because and it's and it's and it's
purely because of his acting. Oh like he plays really
good at being a back and he plays the son
of a bitch and everything. The act The actor's name
is Ben Foster. And I don't don't know if you
guys remember, but like when.
Speaker 3 (30:57):
She was here, she played in that movie Banana.
Speaker 7 (30:59):
Yeah, when when and she was here and he said
he's he was cast as her husband. I was like, oh, already, no,
I'm gonna hate this guy because and then that's why
I asked him and I was like, yo, are are
they nailing this? And she's like, you know yeah, Like
I was like.
Speaker 9 (31:12):
I mean he looked just like him, except for the
real one was uglier.
Speaker 5 (31:15):
Like that's that's the only thing.
Speaker 4 (31:17):
He was very Remember the real guy was very guido like,
like he wore a lot of jewelry.
Speaker 7 (31:20):
And well they show that though, because the only way
he was able to do that is because she was
winning fights.
Speaker 4 (31:26):
They showed like he's you know, he used to her money.
Speaker 6 (31:28):
He starts wearing versace.
Speaker 7 (31:29):
He's got the gold roll legs, he's doing all this,
And I was like, Okay, I see what's going on here.
Speaker 4 (31:32):
And he would he would come in here with all
that stuff on and acting like he was this and
I don't know.
Speaker 7 (31:39):
Man, It's just like Savina said, it's the subtle things
they got, right because as she starts winning a ton
of fights, and and and especially after they got connected
with Don King, I mean literally overnight, you see the guy.
Speaker 6 (31:52):
I was like, damn, he's that's a versace.
Speaker 4 (31:54):
That's it.
Speaker 7 (31:55):
Oh he's wearing a gold watch and every and then
she's still kind of she's wearing dresses and stuf but
like the it's not matching, you know.
Speaker 9 (32:02):
But she didn't want to wear those dresses like he
made her. And they did such a good job of
speaking to that as well, like him saying to her, like,
you need to you need to stop dressing like that, right,
Like nobody wants to see a lesbian fighter.
Speaker 4 (32:17):
Oh there's Oh there's the actor. That's the real guy.
Speaker 6 (32:20):
That's a real guy.
Speaker 7 (32:20):
And then Ryan, it was it was an alpha dog
that I was introduced to to That's when I hated
him from that moment from jump all.
Speaker 4 (32:27):
Right, we gotta we gotta take a we gotta take
a break. I want to get Ryan's take on the movie,
But people say, what what's the movie? The movie is
called Christy. It's the Christy Martin story.
Speaker 6 (32:36):
He's not in November.
Speaker 3 (32:37):
Oh, comes up November November sixth.
Speaker 4 (32:39):
It's a couple of weeks from now. Uh and Sidney
Sweeney plays Christy Martin and uh and they're saying that
she could be nominated for an Academy Award for this
and this. It's just weird because we have this connection
with Christy Martin from way back then.
Speaker 5 (32:51):
And even last night.
Speaker 9 (32:53):
She was absolutely lovely, like she she was so sweet
to us. She made sure we had like the best
seats in the house, and like, like, we took pictures
with her, but I didn't like them, so we barged
the line and we took more.
Speaker 5 (33:04):
Yeah, yeah, we did.
Speaker 8 (33:08):
And they made everybody stop taking photos after that too.
Speaker 5 (33:12):
I bought because I never.
Speaker 4 (33:13):
Got what happened.
Speaker 7 (33:14):
That's when they came out and said that, like everybody
got to go sit down.
Speaker 6 (33:16):
That was because of YouTube.
Speaker 9 (33:19):
And then and then like I was waiting for you guys,
because you know, I have some social anxiety.
Speaker 5 (33:23):
If I was there by myself and I had the
most snacks for us.
Speaker 9 (33:27):
I bought so many snacks at the movies because I
haven't been to the movies and forever.
Speaker 5 (33:30):
I had so many snacks at the movies.
Speaker 4 (33:33):
Popcorn.
Speaker 9 (33:33):
I had an icy popcorn, I had candy, I had everything.
Speaker 4 (33:37):
I noticed.
Speaker 6 (33:37):
You didn't share any of your candy, though I did.
Speaker 5 (33:40):
I shared it with Ryan.
Speaker 3 (33:41):
I never made it to your song.
Speaker 4 (33:43):
We'll take a little freak. I'm gonna get Yan's sake
on the movie and and let you know that it'll
be out in November. And uh yeah, man.
Speaker 9 (33:51):
Just incredible, Like the whole the whole thing is incredible.
We can talk about it, we can come back, but
like the whole everything of it is incredible.
Speaker 4 (33:59):
All right, take a little break, don't go anywhere. You're
listening to the Moxras the morning radio Welcome out of
(34:20):
the Monsters. One is rever Radio one oh four point one.
I'm Russ Rowlins along with Angel Rivera. By the way,
tonight is what the Hell's Angel listening to from nine
to midnight right here on Red Radio one on four
point one. Ryan Holmes here, Savannah here with us. Hadn't
seen Savannah in a while. Good to see a Savannah.
Speaker 5 (34:33):
I miss you guys so much.
Speaker 4 (34:35):
Someone on the Texans Service And remember Christy Martin beat
up Tuttle at the Plaza at two thousand and one.
Miss Monster yes, she did.
Speaker 5 (34:41):
Oh I forgot about that.
Speaker 4 (34:43):
Yeah, he boxed her and he said he could beat her,
and he could not beat her.
Speaker 5 (34:46):
She probably wiped him out, she did.
Speaker 4 (34:48):
She beat the hell out of him. But at the movie.
Christy had the red carpet premiere last night here in Orlando.
I know she wants to Did you guys talk to
her about whether is she doing one in West Virginia
because she wanted to do one Beckley or in Charleston?
Did she say if she did?
Speaker 5 (35:03):
She did it.
Speaker 9 (35:03):
We didn't get to talk to her that much. She
was pretty overwhelmed with people everywhere. But I'm sure if
you text her there are a lot of people.
Speaker 3 (35:10):
Really.
Speaker 4 (35:11):
Yeah, the theater was packed. Yeah, oh that's good. She
was worried about that. She was worried about, you know,
if it was going to be packed or that. So, Ryan,
what'd you think of the Now? You know, it's a
movie about abuse, so it's kind of a downer. You
don't like downers? Do you?
Speaker 3 (35:27):
I love down.
Speaker 4 (35:30):
Okay? All right, so I said, what did you think
about the movie? Christy?
Speaker 8 (35:33):
First of all, Amber, sit on an aisle. If you're
gonna go, we'll get up and pee.
Speaker 5 (35:36):
Dude, seriously, haven't time to go to the bathroom, like.
Speaker 3 (35:39):
Four or five.
Speaker 4 (35:41):
Listen, she's got a little bladder. Give her a break,
no plan.
Speaker 3 (35:44):
Accordingly, you are a movie.
Speaker 8 (35:46):
You don't go down in a bunch of drinks first,
you be ready send the timing.
Speaker 9 (35:51):
Of the piece, yeah, dude, like it was the It
was the.
Speaker 5 (35:54):
Tatiana a LEI fight.
Speaker 4 (35:56):
Yeah about and then.
Speaker 9 (35:58):
Here she comes and I was like, if if she
makes me miss this, if she she gonna come back
in right in the middle of it.
Speaker 4 (36:06):
Now she just can't help but annoy. I love her
to death, but.
Speaker 3 (36:10):
I don't know what she's thinking.
Speaker 4 (36:12):
She annoy you guys pretty well.
Speaker 3 (36:13):
I think she got a U T I. It's not good.
Speaker 4 (36:17):
With that being said, yeah, it was how about danger?
Did Daisy annoy you at all?
Speaker 3 (36:23):
Left?
Speaker 4 (36:24):
Okay?
Speaker 3 (36:25):
Left almost immediately.
Speaker 4 (36:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (36:27):
So, first of all, thanks for all the snacks and
sharing your snacks with me.
Speaker 3 (36:31):
That's very nice.
Speaker 4 (36:32):
He's just rubbing it into you, angel And she didn't.
Speaker 7 (36:35):
She shared with me too. I got a bunch of popcorn.
I just think, get any candy.
Speaker 5 (36:40):
That's the biggest icy that I've ever had in my life.
Speaker 8 (36:43):
She was like a little kid that like it was like,
I honestly like, I thought it was a big scenario
where like she was a little kid and then suddenly
transformed into an adult and now she's like, I got money,
so I'm gonna buy all the nerd brope popcorn.
Speaker 3 (36:57):
It's crazy that all.
Speaker 8 (36:58):
This stuff she was actually holding. Yeah, So it's just
I just have a good time. Overall. I think the
movie is great. I got I got one gripe. Though
what do he got?
Speaker 3 (37:10):
Don't don't don't don't set a movie in a.
Speaker 8 (37:13):
Papka and then don't let it not be in a papka.
Speaker 4 (37:17):
Oh it wasn't. It didn't look like.
Speaker 8 (37:19):
None of it was shot in a papka, and he
did it look like And that's what takes me out
of this stuff, because we here in Florida, just we
have very specific foliage, you.
Speaker 3 (37:30):
Know what I mean.
Speaker 8 (37:30):
So if you take North Carolina foliage and throw it
in there and tell me it's Florida, it does take
me personally out of the movie.
Speaker 3 (37:37):
I know it's a.
Speaker 5 (37:38):
True story, but I just sit there and go, we
don't got those trees.
Speaker 4 (37:43):
Better than a popka or worse than a papka.
Speaker 3 (37:45):
Well, it's hard to make something look worse than a posca.
Speaker 7 (37:47):
It just looked different, like like you could tell it
was a rural spot, but it wasn't our rule spot. Yeah,
and so some of the buildings and stuff like that.
That's what I was gonna ask you, because I know
where the gym was located in a Papka.
Speaker 4 (38:00):
Uh.
Speaker 8 (38:01):
They made a big deal about the Apopka water tower,
which I don't even think looks like that.
Speaker 4 (38:05):
Well, remember they were gonna call the movie a Popka
and at the last second they changed it to Christy.
Speaker 9 (38:10):
That's really smart, because who the f was gonna watch
a movie called a Popca.
Speaker 4 (38:15):
Well, they thought they would be like avant garde, you know.
Speaker 5 (38:18):
Oh yeah, no, that would have been done. They should
have gone.
Speaker 10 (38:21):
To Daytona because every time, like they moved to Daytona first,
but they did right everything. Every time they'd be like,
we're moving to a fancy place in Daytona.
Speaker 5 (38:32):
We were all like Danton.
Speaker 8 (38:37):
And says on the bottom of the screen of Papua Florida,
And I'm like, coot, you got to is.
Speaker 4 (38:43):
There even a water tower in a Popka? Now, I've
never seen one. It could be one somewhere, but I
don't know.
Speaker 3 (38:48):
Where it was one back in the day, but it
didn't look like the one that they were they kept showing.
It was just so weird.
Speaker 4 (38:54):
Little details this matters.
Speaker 7 (38:56):
But well, you're showing it to a bunch of people
in central Florida, Orlando, Florida, and particularly let's say, like
us three who've lived in a Papa, who've lived in Daytona.
Speaker 3 (39:04):
Because like so's holding up and down hills.
Speaker 7 (39:06):
Yeah, so the whole time there's yeah, they're showing the
clips in Daytona. I'm like, wait a minute, there is
no part of complex that lives that close to ninety five,
you know what I mean.
Speaker 3 (39:15):
Even the foliage on the beach was different. Like that's
the other thing. I was like, we don't have those
kind of beach plants. That's in North Carolina beach.
Speaker 7 (39:21):
So this is the thought that I should not be
having one. I'm watching this rust. So there's a scene
where she goes out and she's watching the sunrise, and
then I'm like, wow, they shot that super tight. So
it shows that it could possibly be Florida, but that's
not Florida.
Speaker 4 (39:35):
You could tell Florida.
Speaker 8 (39:37):
Yeah, Because the other part is like I've been to
Christy Martin's house before, Like my friend lived next door
to them, so like I know, I knew what their
house looked like, right.
Speaker 3 (39:48):
And I was like they for some reason, this is
just me.
Speaker 8 (39:50):
They picked the house that was built in the fifties,
but she lived in Sweetwater and all those houses were
built in the eighties.
Speaker 3 (39:56):
But the interior looked at it. It was great.
Speaker 4 (39:58):
That was pick him a little bit.
Speaker 3 (40:01):
It was okay.
Speaker 8 (40:02):
First emotionally though, I don't have emotions. I don't want
to tell you just watch a woman get beat. This
is crazy, I.
Speaker 3 (40:13):
Will say this. So I don't go to the theater
that often.
Speaker 8 (40:16):
And uh, probably because she's there, Probably because I met
her a bunch of times. But every scene was way
more emotionally impactful than like a regular movie for.
Speaker 7 (40:26):
Sure, Like some of the stuff that's happening and you're like, wow,
she's like three rows.
Speaker 3 (40:29):
Up and like that. That was the other thing.
Speaker 8 (40:31):
So in this movie, they they don't make her the
perfect character by any means. They don't like like disnify
her or anything.
Speaker 3 (40:39):
They showed. They they show some.
Speaker 8 (40:41):
Raw stuff, like the stuff she shared with the movie,
including that like at one point she was making money
by fighting weird dudes.
Speaker 5 (40:49):
And do you remember her telling.
Speaker 9 (40:51):
Us that, because that was something that I don't remember.
Speaker 3 (40:55):
I don't remember that a sex thing where they live.
Speaker 9 (40:57):
It was like a kink, right, So then, yeah, I
wanted to fight her. So they didn't have any money,
and she was telling him to get a job, but
he wasn't gonna get a job.
Speaker 5 (41:05):
He was like, I have a job. I'm a trainer.
Speaker 9 (41:06):
And she's like, I know, but you're a trainer that
doesn't make any money because I can't pay.
Speaker 5 (41:10):
You any money. And he was like, but that's my job.
Speaker 9 (41:12):
And she was like, well, could I go work at
Walgreens down the street blah blah blah, And he was like,
I told you how you could make money. And then
it was him taking her to a hotel, then pulling
the bed up, her putting her boxing gloves on, and
boxing expecting fat, gross guys in a dirty, seedy.
Speaker 5 (41:31):
Daytona hotel room.
Speaker 9 (41:33):
And then I don't know what happened after that. I
don't know if there was a sexual thing after that.
Speaker 4 (41:37):
I think there was.
Speaker 6 (41:39):
The way that I interpreted that scene is that it
was just about the fight.
Speaker 4 (41:42):
Just to fight, all right. We got to t we
gotta take a break. We can definitely talk about this
a little bit more after we do some trivia. We've
had great prizes this week when we come back, so
you might want to get on the line. The telephone
number is four oh seven nine one six one four
one Trivia time when we come back. You're listening to
the mantras in the morning.
Speaker 3 (42:00):
You everything, Alexa, Can you unclog the toilet? Yeah, I'm
kind of busy right now.
Speaker 4 (42:07):
Wait until that. Just tell her to play real, right,
