so maybe it worked this month. We got that going on.
It's cyber Monday, which makes no sense anymore because cyber
(02:21):
shopping really started two weeks ago. But there, I guess
there'll be some special deals.
Speaker 4 (02:26):
Today to hustle, but don't buy into it. You know
what you think, Yeah, it's totally fake.
Speaker 2 (02:30):
Yeah, it's been they've had cyber It's been like on
Amazon's cyber November. Yeah, cyber Cyber's like you know so well.
Speaker 4 (02:38):
About the other thing that's been starting to be proven
is that some of these deals that you think that
you're getting, yeah, if you actually do their research, you're
probably gonna get a better deal if you purchased directly
from whatever the manufacturer is.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
Oh really right whatever instead of Amazon you means yeah.
Speaker 4 (02:54):
And that's again this is all being documented. And also
the thing that that particular district likes to do is, uh,
they'll hike the price up, they'll drop it for the
cyber quote unquote deal and make it think that it
make you feel like you're getting a super deal.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
Tell you got a deal when you don't when you
have it.
Speaker 5 (03:12):
Yeah, I just don't like the term cyber that that
sounds like an old school term. Like how like we
don't call it the Information super Highway anymore, you know
what I mean? Like cyber is such an old term.
It sounds like something like people people try to do
to me in AOL chat rooms when I was a kid.
Speaker 2 (03:27):
It's it's like you're trying to make old people think
it's it's new in fantasy.
Speaker 4 (03:31):
Yeah word now, well no, no, okay, I get it,
and I agree completely with you.
Speaker 2 (03:36):
That's not for us. They still use that word for
old people.
Speaker 5 (03:41):
Yeah, yeah, they need it. I don't know, but cyber,
I don't know, cyber gross gross word? Change it to
something cooler?
Speaker 2 (03:48):
Did anybody though? I got I guarantee it. Neither one
of you guys, and probably half our audience did not
go out shopping for Black Friday. They like, I don't
know that, coff, Nobody does that, right, you know what
I mean? And now, I'm sure there's some of you
that went to you know, Amart on the last Friday,
or you went to Target or one of those things,
But I don't know. The malls were super packedge.
Speaker 4 (04:06):
I can honestly tell you this is the first uh
probably first or second where I did I was.
Speaker 2 (04:11):
I wasn't even aware of what deals were going on.
Speaker 4 (04:14):
Yeah, you know, sometimes there's like, oh, no, you want
to get to whatever place because we've got you know,
fifty of these TVs or what in.
Speaker 2 (04:21):
The past too.
Speaker 5 (04:22):
That just doesn't seem necessary anymore in the world that
we live in. But there was the nerd shop by
my house. This place it sells like Pokemon cards and
they do dungeons and dragon stuff. I guess there's some
kind of Pokemon drop. And because it's next to my gym,
and there was a line down the damn road for
whatever was happening at the Pokemon shop.
Speaker 2 (04:37):
Hey, do we know what the hot thing is? I mean,
other than Pokemon, what's the hot thing this year? I
mean that scary plushy toy m what's it called? I
just kid.
Speaker 5 (04:47):
Now. Those kind of does kind of falling off a
little bit from from what I've read. I would keep
my finger on the pulse of what's happening.
Speaker 2 (04:53):
But there's no video game that's the hot video game
this year, or or or minrd game system or or
something like. There always seems to be some tech thing
that is really really hot. I don't hear it this year,
I don't know.
Speaker 5 (05:05):
I'm jealous. I didn't buy the Meta ray band with
the display in them. Those actually ended up being pretty
cool Germany, I didn't get to come of the display
where you can see the stuff happening one eye. Yeah,
so I I honestly don't know. I don't know what
the what the hot thing is this year. There's no
there's no video game consoles right now. Switch two's been
(05:26):
out for a minute, so I don't know.
Speaker 2 (05:29):
There's got to be specials today there since it is
Cyber Monday, there's gotta be some specials that are that
are happening. Uh. I did it whatever, whatever little bit
of shop that I was gonna do already did it. Uh,
And so I'm not I'm not really worried about it.
But uh, you know, that's one of the main things
today is it's you know, Cyber Monday for people that
forgot about Black Friday.
Speaker 5 (05:46):
It expensive now, bro. I don't know if you've seen
the prices on some of this stuff, but specifically like
stuff that I like, like electronics, I'm currently priced out
on a lot of things.
Speaker 2 (05:55):
You mean, stuff you would get for somebody or stuff
you would get for yourself, Yes, for you. I'll tell
you about gifts you would buy for others since it
is the holiday season, right.
Speaker 4 (06:04):
So here are some of the deals that they're purporting
to throw around, right all right. So for example, if
you go to best Buy, okay, they're saying that there's
up to forty percent off of smart TVs, appliances, computers,
gaming consoles. They're claiming that you could save big on Apple, Lenovo,
and Samsung products.
Speaker 2 (06:22):
You know what they say. For the first time in many,
many years, they were selling more iPhones this year than
Samsung phones. Normally I didn't realize this, but for the
past five seven years, Samsung phones have sold more than iPhones.
Speaker 4 (06:35):
If you go to Amazon, who doesn't have one of
these already an Amazon firestick, you get a deal on
that Apple AirPods.
Speaker 2 (06:43):
I just had to buy a firestick my other firestick.
Oh my god. It was driving me crazy. The first
day of vacation. It was like the dad is all
filled up and I would try to get it rid
of everything, and I couldn't get rid of everything. I'm like,
screw it. And so a firestick, what do you think of? Firestick?
Costs to buy fifteen bucks it was more than that.
It's thirty five bucks. But I got like the four
(07:04):
K sixty nine gigabyte whatever. Like, Okay, I bet you
can find a basic version of it for twelve Yeah,
but the basic bitch I had it was with swimming
made over. Yes, I got the best, but it came
that day I ordered it. I was, yeah, they have,
they have, they have thousands of those at the warehouse.
I was pissed off that morning, said I'm just gonna
order it, not next year. You got it by look
two o'clock. I had it to install it in the
(07:26):
in the house.
Speaker 4 (07:27):
Uh, Ryan, is this is this one of the things
that you're priced out of? Google's Uh? Google Pixel ten
is two hundred dollars off?
Speaker 2 (07:34):
Is that a phone? Yeah? Ok?
Speaker 5 (07:36):
The phone?
Speaker 2 (07:37):
How about Meta?
Speaker 4 (07:38):
The Meta Quest three S with gorilla tag is two
hundred and fifty bucks off?
Speaker 2 (07:43):
What's a gorilla tag?
Speaker 5 (07:44):
It just a gorilla comes in and breaks your metat one?
Speaker 4 (07:47):
And then these are the classes that you were talking about, right,
the ray band, Meta Gen one smart glasses, No.
Speaker 5 (07:52):
I have the Gen two, the Gen two display. What
I'm talking they?
Speaker 2 (07:56):
What do they do that's special? What is it? You
want to what does it do.
Speaker 5 (07:59):
It'll pop It'll pop up the map like if you're
if you're traveling and they'll have the map and you're
like right eyes you can kind of see it at
all times, and it'll feel like you could read your
texts things like that. It's just it's just kind of neat.
Speaker 2 (08:09):
TEXI service checking. And so the Florida Mall was packed
on black fat I believe you.
Speaker 4 (08:14):
Yeah, I mean again, Florida Mall is always gonna be.
That's gonna be the one that's always packed because of
the It's still a tourism hub, you know.
Speaker 2 (08:22):
I mean, I I do kind of like going and
doing the Christmas shoping. It's just that I'm not like
where we are in our life. We don't do a
lot of shopping anymore. Well, I mean, do you guys?
How about this?
Speaker 4 (08:34):
Though usually typically this is when we see all those
horrible videos of adults not knowing how to behave when
they go to any of these box stores.
Speaker 2 (08:42):
Did you see any of those? I saw one of
people like running into a Walmart, but nobody was knocking
anybody down like they you know, like the good old pash.
Speaker 5 (08:51):
The deals just aren't the same though. That's thing too,
like you for the deals used to be worth fighting for.
Now it's like ten percent off, Like it's they're just
not that great anymore. For me to get up and
camp outside anywhere, it would have to be an insane deal.
Speaker 2 (09:04):
How about this.
Speaker 4 (09:05):
We're we live in the age now where streaming platforms
are getting in.
Speaker 2 (09:08):
On cyber Monday. What do you mean?
Speaker 4 (09:10):
So, for example, if if you don't, if you apparently
don't have HBO Max, you could subscribe today and you
would get a basically a one year, thirty six dollars plan. Okay,
Stars is twelve bucks audible garbage. Don't spend no which
money on audible.
Speaker 5 (09:27):
The first thing you said was how much HBO Max?
Oh yeah that was a good deal. Yeah, I'm almost
canceled my HBO and then resigned up under my name
and said my own.
Speaker 4 (09:36):
Well, you still you can take advantage of today even
though Okay, and Stars is like I said, stars one
year for twelve bucks.
Speaker 2 (09:44):
Stars. I think they ain't got nothing on Stars. Stars
is like HBO Light.
Speaker 5 (09:49):
Ironically they have the least amount of stars on Stars.
Speaker 2 (09:51):
Yeah, oh I watch some good stuff this, Well, well
I'll see that for another segment. But there was one
show I saw that was one of the best things
I've seen in a long time. I'll tell you about
a little bit.
Speaker 4 (10:00):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (10:00):
And then did you guys do uh? Okay, so we'll
go through Thanksgiving and everything, but after Thanksgiving, did you
guys do any decorating? Did anyone decorate for for Christmas? Already? No? No,
I did? We did for sure.
Speaker 5 (10:14):
I saw your wife's post. It was very very sad,
sad and beautiful post.
Speaker 2 (10:19):
Actually, what was the sad part?
Speaker 3 (10:21):
She was?
Speaker 5 (10:22):
It was something along the lines of, uh, it's people
say you can't decorate before Thanksgiving.
Speaker 2 (10:28):
The people she's talking about was russ But.
Speaker 5 (10:31):
She's like it was onlines like I love people, I
love I've missed my family or whatever, and I wish
i could spend Christmas with them, so I'll decorate when
I damn well please.
Speaker 2 (10:39):
Yeah that was that was to me. I believe, yeah, yeah,
I believe what's going on? Uh? Yeah, she had a
tough Thanksgiving? Uh, not because of us, but it's just
she thought about her parents a lot, you know, yuh,
And and that's you know, and I know she thought
my sister a lot, and so did I. So there
was a little bit of that uh going on. But
(11:01):
but we finally did go into decorating. We have we
have five Christmas trees up in the house and I
had forgotten about the the fake Christmas tree situation. I
had forgotten that when you open them and we bought
like two new ones and then we had an old one,
three old ones and you've got to open those things up.
(11:22):
And my job was She's like, I'll do everything else
if you'll just straighten a tree out and you're straighten
out all the branches, I make sure, no problem money.
Oh my god, I forgot like that. That is that's
a daunting that's it takes a lot of things, a
lot of time. You know, there's fake trees asoly. We
have three of them five five, yeah, five, So you
got to you know, and I've got a new tree
(11:43):
that's beautiful, but you have to get every single branch.
You got to straighten those things out so it looks full.
And it took it took forever to get it up.
But once the house is all, you know, set up
nice for Christmas, it does look good. I mean, we
got you know, the last question, when you guys do
your Christmas tree, do you leave the lights on like
all month? Or do you turn them off at night?
Speaker 5 (12:05):
Night's the only time you have them on, so.
Speaker 2 (12:07):
You don't you don't leave more on during the day
because you can't really see it.
Speaker 5 (12:10):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (12:11):
Yeah, I turn them on and I don't turn them
off until in the next January. They stay on the
whole time and when I wake up. Woke up this
morning at three o'clock and walked out there, and the
whole place is lit up with like, you know, all
the Christmas trees. That's pretty cool, Like like, man, I
wish we could be like this all year round.
Speaker 5 (12:27):
I'm sad because I can't do a Christmas tree this year,
or if I do one, I have to gate it
off from the dog that eats everything. I either have
to put my Christmas tree into prison or I have
to get a very tiny one and put it on
a counter.
Speaker 2 (12:39):
She won't eat a fake tree, buddy.
Speaker 5 (12:40):
She ate a wall the other day like a beaver.
She just chewed through the wall. Yeah, so she will
eat a Christmas tree hands down.
Speaker 2 (12:48):
All right, listen, we are back live today full of
big dumb fun, lots of pent up, big dumb fun.
To tell you guys about that happened over the past
five days. We'll go over things that are coming up
like you. We'll do monster sports, aready news, We'll do
all the stuff we normally do on a Monday, getting
ready for the last month of twenty twenty five with
a bunch of big dumb funds. So don't go anywhere.
You're listening to the mantras in the morning.
Speaker 1 (13:11):
I need to hear someone else's opinions before reconcilling your
own internal phobias. We got you, fam Hey, Alexa play
Real Radio one oh four point one on Nightheart Radio.
Speaker 2 (13:28):
Mantras in the morning. Back from a Thanksgiving five day
got to do whatever we wanted to sleep until eight
at least extravaganza it was. It was nice to sleep in,
get some sleep, get some risks. I didn't leave the
house man basically stayed home for the last five days.
(13:52):
We didn't go out and do anything. We had, you know,
friends come over. We had we we did a bonfire
one night, you know the backyard. UH did a decorating
of of all this stuff for Christmas, which you know,
it was actually kind of fun. I was bitching about
straightening out the tree, but I mean it was kind
of fun lists of Christmas music and and and we
did all that kind of stuff. Thanksgiving Day was was great.
(14:14):
I mean, I like one of these days, one of
those things where I wish there was something to complain
about because it makes it more fun on the radio
come Monday morning. But I mean it was just the
family was wonderful. Uh, My my nieces came over with
my nephew, my my son Ryan. This first time I
actually got to see my son since he got back
from his honeymoon, and uh, they just you know, we
talked about the wedding a lot. Angel. They really loved
(14:36):
what you did, you know, you know, really he really
appreciated you. Uh maybe is a good kid man. I'm
not to brag on my son or anything. I don't
do it that much, but just uh, you know, he
appreciative of everything that happened for the wedding that they had. Well,
they they they went to Veil for their their honeymoon,
but she got sick. She was like not feeling well
(14:56):
for most of the time. So that kind of was
a little bit of a downer. But uh, but you know,
like it was just nice to see them. Ryan's mom
came over, which is my you know, my second ex wife.
I know, but I don't know. Some people may not
understand this or whatever, but it really makes me feel
good that she can come over, you know, have Thanksgiving
(15:18):
with us. Her and Mary Ellen get along wonderfully, and
that brings me some sort of peace, Like it makes
me happy, you know, because it's good for Ryan. Ryan
can have his mom come and spend it with his
you know, with his dad and everything and that. And
Leanne came over and I took her boating with Ryan
and and we all went out and it just was
it was It was super cool, super cool Thanksgiving. Mom
(15:40):
enjoyed it and really nothing bad happened. Like the food
was all great. I did cook a turkey on the
Big Green Egg, but it cooked quicker than what it
said it was supposed to on uh you know, because
I looked it up. I'm like, okay, twenty five pounds turkey.
You know, how long do you cook it on the
Big Green Egg? And it said you do it at
uh three twenty five for five hours. I'm like, okay,
(16:04):
all right, put it on there. And about three hours
into it, I'm like, let me just check it, you
know me, I'm you know, I'm watching the Thanksgiving Day parade,
and I got my little thermometer thing and I'm let
me just go check the temperature. And I go and
it was done in three hours. Now, I kept it
at three twenty five. I did exactly what it said,
but it cooked much quicker and it turned out great,
like turkey. Come I at least if I would have
(16:26):
left it on for the five hours. Oh my god,
it's been terrible. But but yeah, that all cooked great
enough food. Everybody, you know, uh, stayed for a while,
but not too long. I just was just a really good,
really good thanks to me. It took everybody out on
the boat. But it was chilly that day, a little
bit chilly on Thanksgiving.
Speaker 4 (16:46):
And I'll tell you, was it that I got really
cold Thanksgiving Day? Right, it started to day colder.
Speaker 2 (16:51):
But the next day on Friday and it was super cold,
and week did not go out on the boat at
all then, you know, because it was it was way
way too cold.
Speaker 4 (16:59):
But yeah, no, I like Thanksgiving days weather because it
was like it felt like Thanksgiving. I like Thanksgiving to
be a little you know, a little cloudy, a little
you know, grayish, you know, within the in the neighborhood
I live, and there's a ton of oak, so all
the leaves are falling.
Speaker 2 (17:15):
We had we had all the doors and windows open,
which was cool. That's that's a nice little added the bonus.
I then watched football. You know, Mary Ellen was born
in Texas, so her mom and dad were all these
big Dallas Cowboy fans. So that's like, you know, she
considers that her team. And uh, that was a great game.
I mean that was you know, it was a really
great game. So we kind of watched that one. That's
(17:36):
the only one we watched that day. And so I
got a little football, got a lot of great family time.
Everyone was very thankful and uh, I'm all good man.
And then the decorating for Christmas was was sort of fun.
So and then other than that, man, I've watched a
bunch of stuff. We'll go over in a little bit,
but uh, how was your your Thanksgiving? Danger? Uh? Mine
(17:56):
was good.
Speaker 4 (17:56):
I was just like I said, I spent time with
my family and then UH spent some time with Kayla,
and then I went, Uh I spent some time with
uh who else with some other friends. Like I was
just just just running around that day all day long.
You know, just you know, jumping from spot to spot
to spot. So I was really uh hanging with the kids.
(18:20):
You know, my nephew was telling you earlier. Yeah, so
hanging with him a lot, and then just you know,
uh just running, you know, running, running running that particular day.
Speaker 2 (18:30):
Yeah, Ryan, you did you do a big thanks Giving anything?
Speaker 5 (18:33):
No, it just went uh hung out at Uh. It's
a very complicated situation as my as my wife's ex
sister in law's house, but with her brother and her
and like her husband because they get along, so it's
like it's it's it's fun. Uh.
Speaker 2 (18:51):
So there was the.
Speaker 5 (18:52):
Family and the kids and the nephews and everybody. It
was the first time having a fried turkey, really, which yeah,
it's clear you live, you've.
Speaker 4 (19:02):
Lived this long and this is the first time that
you've had fried turkey.
Speaker 2 (19:05):
Yep.
Speaker 5 (19:05):
We've always just had basic put it in the oven turkey,
let it cook all day, boring turkey.
Speaker 2 (19:11):
So what do you think about the fried turkey?
Speaker 5 (19:13):
I think it's I think it's delicious, but the level
of danger.
Speaker 2 (19:16):
Involved that what makes it even tastes better.
Speaker 5 (19:20):
Yeah, it tastes like I feel alive because I watched
a compilation video of people doing it wrong.
Speaker 2 (19:27):
I guess.
Speaker 5 (19:27):
I guess a lot of people take the frozen turkey
and'll drop it in there.
Speaker 2 (19:31):
How do you put too much oil in it? I'll
measure out the oil oil, right.
Speaker 5 (19:35):
So my dude, my dude Ryan, we headed his house.
Uh he did it in his front yard, which is
like a propane tank and a turkey fryar and uh
it seemed interesting.
Speaker 2 (19:47):
Florida when you do it that way. Yeah, yeah, before
and the only thing that you know, I measured it
out right and everything, but I did spill some of
the oil on the on the pavers, and you can
never get that, gonna get it, yeah, so be careful
about that. I would say, put down some I don't know,
carpeting or something something you're gonna throw away afterwards, you know,
because that that can be a message.
Speaker 5 (20:07):
The other thing though, was we brought a bottle of
wine and uh, you know, for one for my wife
to drink for Thanksgiving, and then a couple of a gift.
Speaker 2 (20:15):
Right.
Speaker 3 (20:16):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (20:16):
But we got there and uh, they're not wine drinkers,
so they they found they eventually found a cork screw,
but it was broken, right, So then it becomes all
the men of the house are like, you's got to
be a way to open this bad boy up. I
start right like because I'm like googling ways, and it's like,
(20:36):
you can do it with a pocket knife, and I
have a pocket knife on I'm like, all right, so
I'm going in and I'm trying to like get the
cork out, and uh, I ended up just decimating the
top of this cork.
Speaker 3 (20:46):
It.
Speaker 5 (20:47):
This was not the way to go. So we kind
of give up and and I'm like, all right, guy,
it's fine. She can just drink some stella.
Speaker 2 (20:55):
The you could push the cork end of the tried
that too.
Speaker 5 (20:58):
By the way, it got very risky as far as
like we feel like we're gonna break the bottle.
Speaker 2 (21:03):
Seething with a screwdriver and a hammer and.
Speaker 5 (21:06):
Okay, so that's that's what was. So then Ryan's like,
I got this, and he goes and gets a screw
and a drill. Okay, and he drilled the screw into
the cork.
Speaker 2 (21:17):
Okay.
Speaker 5 (21:18):
And then we took a set of plyers. Oh okay,
Like we got one dude holding the bottle and one
dude like like pulling with the plyers, and we got
that some bitch out. Was it a little corky? Yes
it was. Did a couple of pieces of glass break off.
Speaker 2 (21:30):
The end of it? Maybe?
Speaker 5 (21:31):
But we got the damn thing open. I was very
impressed with him for doing.
Speaker 2 (21:35):
That and how crazy. That was a fun project for
all the guys. Yes, he gave you something to do.
Once she got the wine out, you were like, Okay,
now I didn't want the wine, want just want to
see if we can get the cork was terrible. I
actually drink wine over the U over the I got
a bottle of wine one night for Marion I to
have like romantic night whatever. And I hadn't had wine
(21:56):
in a long time. But it's pretty good.
Speaker 5 (21:58):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (21:59):
I like.
Speaker 5 (22:02):
That's that's a brand of wine. Wine, the kind of
have a Walgreens.
Speaker 2 (22:07):
I like public.
Speaker 5 (22:09):
I like uh being a nice wine drunk, you know,
like get you get. It's a different kind of buzz
that wine gets you. I don't actually do it that off.
Speaker 2 (22:16):
I agree. Yeah, yeah, I like red wine. I don't
like white wine.
Speaker 4 (22:19):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (22:20):
The problem is the red wine turns your teeth. You
look like a crazy person. If you've been drinking red
wine all night, it turns your teeth kind of purple.
Speaker 2 (22:26):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, but you know it's if it's
late enough, nobody cares.
Speaker 5 (22:31):
Yeah, you know, I actually went and got another bottle.
I don't normally drink white wine, but I went and
got another bottle of the one the Wine Diva sells. Yeah,
and it's a white wine that has no added sugar
in it. It's fantastic because I'm normally white wine is
like way too sweet for me. This one is just
it's very dry. It's perfect, and just enjoyed that. Spend
(22:51):
a lot, a lot of money at Total Wine. We
were in charge of the mashed potatoes in our house,
so we got we got that dumb Yeah, and my
wife did.
Speaker 2 (22:59):
You did Jim leftover? You know today the last day
you're supposed to eat things, get me leftovers is today?
You don't have any leftovers?
Speaker 5 (23:07):
Yesterday?
Speaker 2 (23:07):
Last day?
Speaker 5 (23:08):
Yeah, yesterday, that was the last day to eat them.
If you're eating them on a Monday, you're gonna get sick.
Speaker 2 (23:12):
Have you guys heard it? So it says here, today's today,
Like you still do it today? But you got it?
You're supposed to eat it says here, Hold on, It
says here that the us DA says, turkey, turkey, stuffy stuff, potatoes,
sweet potatoes, all this stuff. If you put it in
the freezer, how long do you think it's good stored
in the freezer. No no, no, no no, this is the fridge. Okay,
(23:34):
in the fridge.
Speaker 4 (23:35):
No, okay, yes, yesterday, Yeah, everybody follows plies. Plies is
a wrapper. A few years ago, Russ he broke down
the rules of leftovers and if you're eating, if you're
eating leftovers today, now you're starting to play with you.
You're taking your life at risky.
Speaker 2 (23:51):
I still have some turkey left and I'm a rebel.
Speaker 4 (23:54):
Yesterday was officially the last day. And then a buddy
of mine he did something Genie. So, I don't know
if you guys have ever heard this. He saw this
on social media. He's like, that's what I'm gonna do
with my leftovers. He made leftover Thanksgiving Day soup. Basically,
you take everything. Yeah, you take the turkey, you take
the mashed potatoes, you take the sweep tato you take everything.
(24:17):
You put it in the pot, you put the chicken
broth in there, whatever, and then just and cook it
and just and it makes it nice, creamy bowl of soup.
Speaker 2 (24:26):
It's good, dude.
Speaker 4 (24:28):
You talk about you you think that you fall asleep
after Thanksgiving dinner.
Speaker 5 (24:34):
I was done.
Speaker 4 (24:35):
He dropped me off a nice big bowl of this.
He's like, dude, you gotta try this. This came out fantastic.
I was like, all right, cool, warmed it up. I
fell asleep for like twelve.
Speaker 2 (24:44):
Hours, bro, which you guys didn't have to deal with
because you didn't have things giving at your house. But
we had it at the house and there was a
lot of leftover.
Speaker 4 (24:50):
No the kid, that's what he had a big event
at his place and so there was like all kinds
of things. So like the that night, that day after,
he was left with a bunch of stuff.
Speaker 2 (24:59):
And that's why we had a bunch of stuff. Now,
the gimmick is Mary Ellen always gets those get to
go and makes everybody take stuff home. But you know,
people are like, okay, that's enough. It's enough because she
makes way too much. I mean there's still twenty double
eggs left, you know, like way too much stuff. So
then the cleaning up is the hard part. And then
like where I live, Okay, that was Thursday. The trash
(25:23):
guy doesn't come until Wednesday, so I got all this
food trash that it's in bags and stuff, and it's
outside and I'm just you know, it's going to be
stinking at some point. And I'm but there's no bears
out there. Seeing a pop guy had bears, So I'm
worried about it there. I don't know what animals are
in winter Haven that I'd have to worry about, but
that trash, that trash sits for way too long. You know,
(25:45):
when you got all that and that the clean up
after Thanksgiving is just it takes forever because you know,
you got so much food and all that kind of stuff,
but you're saying, just throw.
Speaker 4 (25:53):
It all in one pot and make it so So
he saw this. Man, he saw it. He did it,
and it's like, dude, I tried this thing out. I'm
gonna drop them off to you. You got to check
this out. This stuff it's absolutely amazing and it is.
It is basically Thanksgiving Day soup. It's got everything. It
had the turkey you had, the you could taste they had,
the sweet from the sweet potato you have, the massed
potatoes gave it. It's like kind of thickness to it.
(26:16):
I mean it was it was fantastic, and but I
had He gave me a big old like top war
thing of it.
Speaker 2 (26:23):
Ate the whole thing. I slept for fourteen hours. Yeah, yeah,
I was after thanks Giving. I was started, and then
I couldn't wait to the next day to have a
turkey sandwich. Like the turkey sandwich the next day is
the best. And we were out of bread. I'm like,
where's the bread? It's oh wait, I didn't get anything.
Oh man, so you had to run up and get
some breads so I could have my turkey sandwich. Because
that's like a tradition kind of thing. Hey, I mentioned
(26:44):
it quickly. Did you guys any does anybody want? This
is my thing? I don't know if you guys do it?
Do you guys watch the Thanksgiving the parade every year?
Speaker 5 (26:53):
I watch it on. I watched the YouTube stream where
it's just like a guy with a camera.
Speaker 2 (26:57):
Oh you don't watch the one that's you don't watch photo.
Speaker 5 (26:59):
The NBC one Hoda.
Speaker 4 (27:00):
And Savannah bringing it to you. He was on at
my parents' house. But like what my dad likes to
do is that they'll have it on on the big
TV in their living room. Yeah, Mom's in the kitchen
and she's popping in and out. But then he's playing
all like Christmas music.
Speaker 2 (27:15):
We watched the that's my tradition. I watched the Thanksgiving
they paraded, and then right after that it's The Dog Show. Right,
they do the same thing, Mary Ellen, we get there.
We're rooting for the Canaan Dog because that Canaan dog
was in it again this year. But Canaan Dog didn't
do anything. But there's a Belgian shepherd dog that one. Yeah,
I know that dog. Yeah, but I thought you so
(27:38):
is that?
Speaker 4 (27:39):
I was curious if a Belgian shepherd is de different
than Belgian.
Speaker 2 (27:43):
What's that Melanoi? Malanoi? I don't know.
Speaker 4 (27:45):
Because those the Malanwans are the ones from the John
Wick movies, and if you follow those on social media,
those little dudes are raptors.
Speaker 2 (27:53):
I was today old when or last week old when
I when they learned that they really they didn't have
the The Dog Show on television until after that movie
Best In Show, the movie Best In Show. When they
did that, they realized, oh, we actual could probably show
this on television because people are sort of into it,
and and that's the reason they started showing it. Yeah,
(28:15):
Best in show came first, the movie came first, and
then they started putting it on Things World because I
just thought that was always on TV. Yeah, no, it
hasn't been. But that's one of the things that my
wife and and the girls, you know, they they love
watching the Dog Show and then it's football after that.
But nobody we didn't pay attention to the first football game,
and I think it was Detroit and uh, I think
(28:37):
Detroit Los Packers in the Yeah, yeah, we didn't pay
attention to that game at all. But the Dallas game,
you know, we were done with Thanksgiving. We sat and
watched it and it was fun. It was That was
a really good game. Actually was very very close.
Speaker 4 (28:48):
Yeah, we all got one one game correct out of the.
Speaker 2 (28:51):
Because oh yeah, you're Parlayla.
Speaker 5 (28:55):
NFL's just full of gambling teeters at this point, and
there's no reason that the Cowgirl should have won. The
Bengals beat the Ravens. That was surprising as well.
Speaker 2 (29:03):
I didn't watch that one either, so I was I
was one for three. I got one right, Yeah, yeah,
that's why the Packers over the line.
Speaker 5 (29:11):
I started off great and then that started that Chiefs
game was going really well and then all turned around
because somebody has a cousin who bet on it. I
know somebody on the team.
Speaker 2 (29:21):
It was weird. I mean, this whole week of football
was weird. Miami Dolphins won again. It's crazy. Uh so there,
you know, another win. And then next week they they
played the Jets. That's a winnable game, Jets.
Speaker 5 (29:35):
Jets are turning it around a little bit. Don't beat
the Falcons.
Speaker 2 (29:38):
The Jets. Well, everybody beats the Falcons.
Speaker 5 (29:39):
Though, Well, the Falcons were doing pretty good at the start.
I mean, now they're four and eight after the loss
to the Jets, but they I think I think the
Jets have a chance to really beat Miami. So I
would take the Jets in that game.
Speaker 2 (29:51):
Oh really want to bet? I mean, yeah, okay, how
about we will save that for Russell? All right, okay,
we'll save that for will negotiate. We'll negotiate the money.
We'll negotiate money because my dolphins are on fire. All right,
We'll take a little break.
Speaker 5 (30:09):
More more big, that's a horrible sentence, More.
Speaker 2 (30:14):
Big, dumb fun. When we come back. You're listening to
the Mansters in the morning. Hey, welcome back to the
Monsters in the morning. I'm abredyo, one oh four point one.
Well back at it. You know, we got a couple
(30:35):
of weeks before we have our Christmas break. But this Friday,
this Friday, it's this Friday, December fifth, at the Abbey.
Miss Monster Burlesque is happening. It's a Friday night. I
already got I've already had people who I tried to talk,
you know before you gotta get them VIP tickets. I
get them premium tickets. And someone text me yesterday, Look
(30:56):
I tried to get tickets. They're sold out a premium.
I'm like, yeah, I told you that would happen, And
can you get me in? No, bo I can't. I
can't get you into premium. They're already sold out. Bro. Sorry,
Uh you know like that, that's what happens. There are
some there's a general emission available, but they're seating everywhere
as well. I told Bo's that they're seating everywhere and
all the seats are good. That premium just meant it
(31:17):
was the first five rows and there's still great seats left.
And it's at the Abbey and it's this coming Friday,
and featuring Angelique the Dance and Queen a Bernova, Daisy
del Toro, BB Caliber who is your current Miss Monster Burlesque,
and five brand new competitors. Lady James is going to
perform because Ryan and I will be hosting Angels going
(31:37):
to be DJN. It's a big Friday night party this
coming Friday. So get your tickets if you can at
Real Radiomonsters dot com. That's real radiomonsters dot com. Uh,
you know, a quick story and it's it's not a
particularly up I guess you could look at us uplifting
maybe kinda. So I had this woman that worked for
(31:58):
me for you years back in the eighties when I
had Party World before I did radio, I had a
business it was Rollin's Party World and we rented tables
and chairs and tents and about I don't know, three
four five years into it, I decided to hire this
lady who was a wedding coordinator and that's what she
did for a living. She was from Philly. Funny lady.
(32:20):
But but all my customers seem to love her because
she would like, really it's very empathetic. Almost all the
customers she would like go to their weddings and stuff
and really get into it and just super sweet lady.
And her name is Betty. And I've known Betty for
a long long time, and she still would keep in
touch with me, you know. And her husband's name is Harry,
(32:41):
and Harry was the president of the Union out of
Disney for many many years, so he was like a
big deal. And you know, she would always talk to
me about how much she loved her husband, and and
you know, like she would always talk about Harry, you know,
all the time. So they had met when they were
in uh, I think like not element school, but I
think it was like high school or something. So been
(33:02):
married for I mean, you know, I think almost fifty
years something like that. So the past couple of years,
Betty's husband has been ill, and he's pretty sick, and
he was in and out of hospice, and I felt
bad for her, and I would talk to her every
once in a while and all this stuff, and did
see how she was doing and how he was doing.
And so last month, on October twenty six, Harry finally
(33:24):
passes away, and I felt so bad for Betty, you know,
And of course she was always taking care of him,
and she's just one of these empathetic people that was
always taking care of him. And I saw a post
on Facebook She's like, oh, not feeling so good today.
And I got a message on Sunday from her son
that they think it was just because of a broken heart.
(33:46):
Like a month after Harry dies, she passes away. And
you hear about that all the time, right where you've
got a couple that's been together forever, and whether it's
broken heart, whether who knows what it is? Like, what
is the what is the what is that that happens
with some people when they're connected so much and one
of them passes away. And like she had not had
health problems or anything like that, but after he passed,
(34:10):
you know, he passed on October the twenty sixth, November
twenty ninth, she was gone, and uh, you know, I
don't know if that she spent all of her time taking
care of him, you know, for the for many many years,
and it just makes you sit back and go, man,
you just never know, Hey, you know what's going to happen,
when it's gonna happen, or anything like that. And and
you think about, you know, how people are affected by
(34:33):
love or somebody passing, you know, like, uh, and I
looked at Mary Allen, and I said, well, I hope
you you know, how long do you live after me?
I mean, I mean, I mean you better, it better
be less than three weeks.
Speaker 5 (34:46):
I mean, wow, No, it's it's not I don't think
it's like men. How many old single men do you
really know?
Speaker 2 (34:54):
Old single men? Not many?
Speaker 5 (34:56):
Not many, because we don't live long because women keep
us alive.
Speaker 2 (34:59):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (35:00):
No, it's not love. It's that they set out the pills,
they know the password to the mortgage place.
Speaker 2 (35:06):
They don't.
Speaker 5 (35:07):
If my wife were to pass, my life would literally
fall apart because I don't there's so much that she does.
Speaker 2 (35:12):
Do you think you would die of heartbreak? Because that's
what they're thinking that they believe she died of heartbreak.
She was heartbroken. And I'm like, that's not a real thing.
And Mary Allen said real. Mary alle said, no, that
is a real thing, Russ. And I'm like, wow. So
if somebody does, you know, die and then they live,
you know, a long life afterwards, they didn't really love
him that much.
Speaker 5 (35:31):
Shit, That's why I don't love my wife because if
she gets in an accident, I still get to go
on living. I don't let it go up to one hundred.
I keep it at seventy five. That way, if anything
happens her, I can keep moving forward. You have to
protect yourself.
Speaker 2 (35:43):
I guess depression can lower your immune system, depression can
affect a bunch of different things or whatever. But like
she really she wasn't ill, Like she was spending all
of our time taking care of him, and then once
he was gone, she was super depressed next thing, you know.
And I was so shocked to see that she had passed.
And she was just weethearted. Believe she was from Philly,
so she would always send me little messages about the Eagles,
(36:04):
you know, and the Eagles are going to beat the Dolphins.
And I still kept in touch with her after all
these years, because, uh, she worked for me and she
loved me, and I loved her as well. And h
and a shout out to the family. I feel bad
for their son. I can't believe that she passed so
soon after her husband passed. I mean, such a weird phenomenon.
Speaker 5 (36:22):
My aunt and uncle were together forever, yeah, and then
like my aunt passed, and then my uncle became a
like a lonely severe alcoholic out of nowhere, right, and
then he just like drank himself to.
Speaker 2 (36:34):
Death and like how long afterwards?
Speaker 5 (36:36):
Like about a year?
Speaker 2 (36:37):
Yeah, okay, it was a month afterwards. To freak me
out though, I'm like, how does that? How did it
happen that quick? And they said they don't know. Just
she was super sad that.
Speaker 5 (36:46):
Harry was like, they need to build up their blood
pressure and have somebody to yell at. That's what I've
noticed about old people. They have these relationships where it's like,
do you even love each other? Like they're just like
yelling and fighting back and forth all day long. And
then but that's how they stay alive.
Speaker 2 (36:59):
They keep it, keeps the blood.
Speaker 5 (37:01):
My grandparents like that. They'd get up at four in
the morning. I remember like they screamed. They would scream
at each other. My grandma was always on my grandpa
about whatever like quit drinking, quit smoking, blah blah blah,
get you healthy, yell back forth all day and I
was like, they don't even like each other. Then my
grandpa passed and my grandma was never like she was
so sad for the next decade.
Speaker 2 (37:19):
Yeah. Do the holidays and probably with you Angel, it
does with me. Now do the holidays bring upon like
you think thinking about the people that have gone, Like
and I thought about my sister a lot this Thanksgiving,
and I'm sure you probably think about your brother.
Speaker 4 (37:33):
The holidays in regards to him. Yeah, it does. There
are moments where it can get heavy if I'd let
it get heavy. In the past, I would let it
get heavy, and especially like the first few years.
Speaker 2 (37:43):
Right after his passing.
Speaker 4 (37:45):
Yeah, but as time has gone on, I've been able
to just kind of pivot on that and use that
as a time or reflection to remember the fun times
and the and the things that you know, as whether
it was as us as kids or when we were
in college and we're like, you know, uh, basically racing.
He's racing from Spain and I'm racing from like Pittsburgh
(38:06):
to to try to get home to see who gets
home for the holidays first, and you know, just silly
things like that. And so now I've turned that corner where, yeah,
I still miss him incredibly, but it's not a source
of like where I would let it put me in
a like a dark spaces as more as I'm trying to, uh,
you know, uh, keep keep the light about it, and
(38:28):
keep the brevity and and and fun and the love
of it.
Speaker 2 (38:30):
I agree percent. And I use my sister's passing, my
dad's passing and leaving the story with Betty and her
husband to remind me once again. And this has been
a theme this year, to make every day count. I'm
not fighting with anybody. I don't want to be mad
at anybody. I want to live life and have fun.
Speaker 4 (38:46):
And that's funny when you when you're adamant about just
trying to maintain your peace.
Speaker 2 (38:50):
Yeah, yeah, I just want to maintaine.
Speaker 5 (38:56):
I just wants a weird, weird space when you need,
when you need, just like some space some time I'm
in some peace. People are like, well, no, you fascinating
to me.
Speaker 2 (39:04):
Yeah. So you know, listen, man, live live every day
like as the last one and enjoy it all, because
that's a you never. That's why Jim Phillips used to say,
eat divert eat dessert first, right, Yeah, yeah, and that's
where that came from. You eat eat dessert first, because
I mean, you know it can be short. But anyway,
I love goes out to my friends, uh and I
know it's just now their son is just around Chris
(39:25):
and you know, and my love goes out to uh
to Betty and Harry, who are sweet, sweet people, loved
each other so much, and one month after he passes,
he just goes out of nowhere like she wasn't ill
or anything.
Speaker 5 (39:36):
It's just uh, you love heart.
Speaker 2 (39:41):
All all right, We've got trivia question for you that
could win you a prize. So if you want to
win one of those incredible prizes that.
Speaker 4 (39:47):
Is an incredible when you say incredible today and this
is this is a heavy hitter for this particular time
a year, and it's not something that would've been giving
away recently.
Speaker 2 (39:59):
Old damn. All right, we'll find out what it is
when we come back. What I'm saying is this is
on you. This better be a good trivia question.
Speaker 5 (40:06):
Yeah, no, we'll make it good. No bogus.
Speaker 2 (40:11):
Dust off, lin I literally don't remember what it is.
If you have to dust off. This is a good one.
Is a good one. All right, it's good. I'm telling you.
This is a good prize. There you go, all right, Well,
we'll do it when we come back. The telephone numbers
four oh seven, nine one six one o four one.
You're listening to the mantra of the morning
