Progresso Canned Foods was launched one hundred years ago today,
in the year nineteen twenty five. This is when two
Italian American food importer companies merged together in New Orleans
and they started Progresso Canned Foods. They didn't start selling
soup until nineteen forty nine, and the first flavor of
(04:32):
soup they sold was what what is the first flavor
of soup that Progresso sold.
Speaker 7 (04:43):
Let's go with that's a weird one.
Speaker 3 (04:49):
You got six seconds, six seconds, five four?
Speaker 4 (04:56):
What's that? Miss strone is correct? That is the right one?
Speaker 2 (05:01):
Yes, it is.
Speaker 4 (05:03):
I always call it MASTRONI.
Speaker 1 (05:05):
Why would you do that?
Speaker 3 (05:06):
I don't know, because at the end, for some reason
in my family, I will call it MUSTRONI.
Speaker 6 (05:11):
Okay, I call it Google. She was clearly buying time
to Google, Megan. But that's okayd Megan, did you google?
Speaker 7 (05:19):
No, I just picked a weird one.
Speaker 3 (05:22):
Well, it's the hint was it's too Italian? You know,
the Italian Italian companies, you know, And that's a that's
the that's the hint. Well, congratulations, you're going to Universal.
So tell me how long you've been listening to the show, Megan.
Speaker 7 (05:37):
Since I moved to Orlando in twenty thirteen years, almost
thirteen years.
Speaker 4 (05:43):
Very nice, We appreciate that. What do you do for
a living?
Speaker 7 (05:47):
Lots of things. I'm a door gass driver. I'm a teacher. Well,
I teach a lot of things. They teach drama. I'm
a substitute teacher, and I'm starting a new job as
a dance teacher.
Speaker 1 (06:03):
Oh nice.
Speaker 3 (06:03):
My daughter is a dance teacher. So I know, I
understand what that's like. And what would you like to
plug and promote and tell us all about.
Speaker 7 (06:13):
My wife works for a company called Cuddle Peck Grooming.
She's a groomer there and they could really use some
love this holiday season. It's up here in pomp Coast.
But they do all kinds of animals from captain dogs
to they do bearded dragon nails. They still do livestock.
(06:36):
Whatever you want to bring in, they'll do it.
Speaker 4 (06:38):
Bearded dragon nails.
Speaker 3 (06:40):
That's those those words I never thought i'd hear together,
but I guess they have nails that they have to
be trimmed.
Speaker 1 (06:45):
Right yep, all right, very good.
Speaker 4 (06:49):
And what was the name of her business.
Speaker 3 (06:50):
Again, Cuddle Peck Grooming, Cuddle Pet Grooming. And is it
like do people have to take their pet to the
location or does she like go to your home.
Speaker 7 (07:05):
Yeah, it's a it's a store front. They don't have
a mobile grooming business yet, but they're looking into it.
Speaker 4 (07:12):
Very nice.
Speaker 3 (07:12):
All right, Well, listen, Megan, I hope you have a
wonderful holiday. We'll put you on hold, we'll hook you
up with the uh well, hook you up with the
prize and have a great holiday.
Speaker 1 (07:20):
Okay, thank you.
Speaker 7 (07:22):
Happy holidays, guys.
Speaker 4 (07:24):
Happy holidays you too. Uh Uh? Do you drink a
lot of soup? Do you eat a lot of soup?
I'm not a soup guy.
Speaker 1 (07:33):
It's funny to me. Hey, hey, do you do you
drink a lot? Do you a lot of soup? You soupman?
Speaker 2 (07:38):
You super?
Speaker 1 (07:39):
Uh?
Speaker 6 (07:40):
I was a Ministroane boy, really, yeah like that. I
remember the first time I ever had Ministran soup. But
be honest with you, is it a restaurant Saint Augustine, Florida,
And this soup for little kid me blew my mind.
I ordered five bowls of that soup. Uh, And now
I don't need it at all.
Speaker 3 (07:56):
I think I've had Ministrane, but it doesn't register with
me because it's soup. I'm not saying you're not soupy
at all. And everyone Mary and I'm like, hey, I'm
making soup tonight. And I put a smile on my face.
O great, And usually it does taste good. I just
feel like I'm not eating anything. And I know, you
(08:17):
know there's food in there, but.
Speaker 2 (08:20):
That's a weird. And I'm sure your lady makes some
very hearty soups.
Speaker 6 (08:26):
We does.
Speaker 3 (08:26):
Yeah, get it?
Speaker 4 (08:27):
And stuff.
Speaker 2 (08:27):
Yeah, so to have that take, I don't know that's.
Speaker 1 (08:30):
Who's anti soup so weird.
Speaker 3 (08:33):
Listen, I don't know why I'm anti soup. When I
see it soup, I smile and I go, oh, thank you, honey,
and always taste good.
Speaker 5 (08:39):
Literally you just said. It's like I feel like I'm
not eating. Yeah, you're you're literally eating.
Speaker 4 (08:46):
I don't know why I have a negative. I have
a negative.
Speaker 2 (08:49):
I don't even know where to jump off.
Speaker 3 (08:51):
If I see there's super dinner, I'm like, ah, well,
super Dinner's a poor people thing for sure.
Speaker 4 (08:56):
Maybe that's what it is. Maybe I'm just too snotty.
Speaker 5 (08:59):
Yeah, but you could still have I agree with you,
and that's probably that's uh, you know, that's definitely from
the depression or from poor people.
Speaker 2 (09:05):
But the other part of.
Speaker 5 (09:06):
It, though, is that that's why you can have some
very hearty soups that will fill you up.
Speaker 3 (09:12):
And if I'm being honest and fair, there's never been
a soup that she's.
Speaker 4 (09:16):
Made that hasn't been really good.
Speaker 2 (09:17):
I just felt like a French onion soup.
Speaker 3 (09:20):
I do, but that's like a beginner, like you have that,
how about sweetish and then eat something afterwards Italian wedding.
Those are good soups, Those are starters, those are appetizers.
Speaker 4 (09:29):
A little soup, little talk about she.
Speaker 2 (09:32):
Could tortilla soup for dinner is awesome.
Speaker 6 (09:34):
Man, Yeah, much similar to like what Angel was talking
about earlier. My family would do must go soup, which
is just everything in the fridge must go.
Speaker 1 (09:42):
Into this soup.
Speaker 4 (09:43):
Yeah, must we must go?
Speaker 6 (09:44):
So yeah, we would just eat like these random soups.
My dad would make a kind of a hobo one.
My mom made one. Who doesn't being anti soup is insane.
Speaker 3 (09:53):
I guess I must be insane. I just I just like, oh, okay,
that's a good starter. And then what are we gonna
have to go with?
Speaker 2 (09:59):
Susan know what you're saying.
Speaker 5 (10:00):
So you eat a hearty soup that's got beef in
it or chicken or all these things, and you have
the bread on the side and everything, and after that
you want to eat a main course.
Speaker 2 (10:11):
Yes, insane, soup.
Speaker 3 (10:13):
Is starters, guys, It really isn't Salad?
Speaker 1 (10:16):
Is that.
Speaker 4 (10:19):
You would have really made me? Man said, we're just
having salad.
Speaker 6 (10:20):
For Why you hate olive Garden because they're known for
super for salad.
Speaker 4 (10:23):
Yes, that's not that's no dinner.
Speaker 1 (10:27):
You say you don't like ramen? What about ramen?
Speaker 2 (10:30):
He would never he's he's never had that.
Speaker 4 (10:34):
I've never had.
Speaker 3 (10:35):
I've never no, never had that Ramen.
Speaker 5 (10:40):
You'll let he would either ramen or take him to
a faux restaurant.
Speaker 2 (10:45):
He'd hate it.
Speaker 1 (10:46):
Oh, you never had.
Speaker 4 (10:48):
Ain't no fun for me?
Speaker 1 (10:50):
A folk dude.
Speaker 3 (10:51):
You gotta eat some foe, I mean maybe for appetizer.
Speaker 5 (10:57):
What dude, we could take you Okay, I know you
saw the news and heartbreaking, but the restaurant Little Saigon
after forty years is closing. Yeah, but that's again right
after there's what eighty eight up the street from them,
and we could take you and serve you and have
you eat one of the most just bountiful uh broth
(11:17):
kind of soup, and you would be feeling and Russ
would walk out of there and be like, I need
a cheese.
Speaker 1 (11:23):
Yeah, I gotta take you to Dome.
Speaker 3 (11:24):
Move.
Speaker 1 (11:24):
We gotta get some ramen bro roben. Wait, what is
that what you hate? Who hates Ramen?
Speaker 4 (11:32):
I like a good sandwich, I like good meat. This
guy just want to start.
Speaker 5 (11:36):
Yeah, we've got a text her who just wants to
start an argument.
Speaker 4 (11:39):
That's why Russ is fat.
Speaker 3 (11:40):
No no, no, no no no no no angels with
that one.
Speaker 5 (11:45):
No no, I wasn't even go there. That's that's horrible
thing to say to Russ and a text message. Yeah,
I know, chili is chili a soup?
Speaker 3 (11:52):
Oh now, chili I can have for dinner. Now that
one I don't. That's not soup. That's that's that food.
Speaker 1 (11:57):
Is chili food or chills food stew.
Speaker 2 (12:02):
So we're okay, are you how do you feel about stoop.
Speaker 3 (12:05):
Stew's food because there's big old chunks of meat dinner. Yeah, yeah,
I can do those two. Those two are not soups.
Those are foods.
Speaker 2 (12:11):
So okay. So here we go food super food.
Speaker 5 (12:15):
So when we're talking about a soup, are you just
talking about just broth.
Speaker 3 (12:19):
Is like you said, man thrown or like something's got
everything in it.
Speaker 1 (12:23):
It's just that I don't want that.
Speaker 6 (12:26):
We gotta have some soup maker come up here and
teach the heart of the soup.
Speaker 3 (12:30):
Can you go home and your wife and I made
soup for dinner?
Speaker 1 (12:34):
You're happy? Yes, it's literally one of my favorite things
she makes.
Speaker 6 (12:37):
I talk about it is a skinny soup and I
eat it probably five days a week.
Speaker 4 (12:40):
You don't neant enough of it.
Speaker 1 (12:42):
Damn. He doesn't do himself. He just he laughed the
loudest immediately after he says it, I got you. You
didn't get me.
Speaker 4 (12:53):
I miss you for five days. I got you.
Speaker 1 (12:56):
Yeah you did, buddy.
Speaker 3 (12:58):
All Right, we gotta take a little break, a big
numb fun when we come back. Don't go anywhere. You're
listening to the Monster in the morning. Hey make plans
this Friday to join the Monsters. It's our last big party,
nighttime party of the year. It's our only party in
(13:20):

and I think we're out out, you know, in Sandford
and other places. This is downtown Orlando at the Abbey.
All the Monsters will be there and it's Miss Monster
Bless twenty twenty five.
Speaker 4 (13:33):
It's so funny.
Speaker 3 (13:34):
I put a promotion thing on it, you know, you know,
just a little you know, the thumbnail up, and some
guys like I can't believe they're going to have porn
at the abbey. I'm like, dude is an older guy, right,
I'm like, dude, burlesque is not porn. It's it's the tease.
It's you know, it's not it's not you say burless.
Some people don't know what to expect. It is a blast.
(13:57):
Bring your wife. Your wife will love it too. It's
a lot of fun. Angelice will be performing. You got
Ambernova for the first time, is gonna perform. Daisy del
Toro bb Caliber, who is the current Miss Monster Burlesque.
We'll have her last dances, Miss Monster Bless and five
new competitors. It's at the abbey. Angel will be spinning
tunes as soon as the place opens up. Get the
(14:19):
party going just right. Ryan and I are gonna host it.
And it's this Friday. Get your tickets now before we
sell out, because we're gonna be sold out for sure.
Just go to real Radiomonsters dot com. That's real Radiomonsters
dot com to get your tickets for this Friday night.
So looking forward to that. We got this Friday, and
then we've got whan Us we got this month, got
(14:40):
the bike Drive. We got the bike Driving. It was
December the tenth, and that's a live broadcast that day.
And then we've got nineteenth Cure Bowl, which is the seventeenth.
That's a Wednesday and not only are we doing the
Cure Bowl, we're gonna be out the game, but there's
a tailgate party with free barbecue that's be cool, so
(15:00):
you can get tickets to that, and uh yeah, so
that's what we got. And then the last show of
the year, which I haven't even really I mean, I've
invited some people to come perform, but I haven't really
sat down and done a whole lot of planning on
that yet.
Speaker 4 (15:14):
So we probably gotta do that.
Speaker 3 (15:15):
But anyway, next couple of weeks's gonna be a lot
of fun and looking forward to this Friday night.
Speaker 1 (15:20):
It should be great. I got to tell you.
Speaker 4 (15:23):
I saw you over the break.
Speaker 3 (15:26):
Nothing to complain about, really, because everything was wonderful. I
had a great break, nice five days, got to get
some sleep.
Speaker 4 (15:32):
We didn't really go anywhere.
Speaker 3 (15:34):
I did watch something, though, and I crushed the entire thing.
That probably was one of the most I don't say fun,
but most enjoyable, the best thing I've seen all year.
And I'm curious if either one of you guys saw it.
It's called All Her Fault on Netflix. Did you watch it?
Speaker 4 (15:51):
Ryan?
Speaker 5 (15:52):
No?
Speaker 1 (15:52):
But that's what I yelled around my house a lot.
Speaker 4 (15:54):
All her fault. Angel did you see all her fault now?
Speaker 5 (15:58):
Looking at the I guess the trailer the image of it.
Speaker 2 (16:02):
I've seen that on Netflix. I have not had a
chance to watch it.
Speaker 3 (16:04):
Okay, So the star of it is Sarah Snook. Sarah
Snook was from Succession and just an absolutely incredible actress.
Speaker 4 (16:15):
Like her facial expressions.
Speaker 3 (16:16):
There is and I'm not giving anything away basically with
with this this show. She goes to pick up her
kid from school and her kid's not there, and they're
trying to figure out who kidnapped her their child, right,
that's the whole thing. And there's a there's a part
of this where the husband looks at her and was like,
this is He says something like, this is your fault
or something like that, if you would have checked the
(16:38):
numbers that you know are our son wouldn't be missing.
And she gives a look to him, and if you've
watched this, you know what I'm talking about. She gives
a look to him that is the most I will
kill you.
Speaker 1 (16:50):
Look. We've all seen this.
Speaker 3 (16:51):
From our woman at one point or the other at
some point, and it's probably some of the best acting
I've ever seen.
Speaker 1 (16:58):
And we absolutely loved.
Speaker 3 (17:00):
It was one of the most enjoyable things that I've
seen in a long time. It's called All Her Fault.
Sarah Snook is the star. There's also a bunch of
other actors and actresses in it that you recognize from
different things, but I don't know their names, you know,
like the one of the one of the actresses was
one of the kids in it, and she's all grown
up now.
Speaker 1 (17:19):
But and she's got Dakota Fanning.
Speaker 4 (17:21):
It's got Dakota Fanning.
Speaker 3 (17:24):
It's got a lot of really great actors in it,
and you don't know.
Speaker 4 (17:27):
You're like, well, wait a minute.
Speaker 3 (17:28):
It keeps you guessing the entire time, and the ending
is amazing. So I would definitely suggest to watch All
Her Fault. It is really really good. And then on
the other side, we had a lot of time, Angel
said to watch Pluribus.
Speaker 4 (17:43):
I'm like, okay, well, who's in Pluribus?
Speaker 3 (17:44):
Oh, it's got that actress I like from Better Call Saul.
Speaker 4 (17:49):
I love her and I forget her name now, but
she could.
Speaker 3 (17:52):
I don't know who's a better actress between Sarah Snook
or what's Racyhorn. She is a amazing and that is
really good and that, like, I'm all caught up with
it's still going right, Like they're still on that.
Speaker 2 (18:06):
It's episodic, so they and it's released weekly.
Speaker 4 (18:09):
Are you are you caught up on it?
Speaker 2 (18:10):
Yeah? All five episodes.
Speaker 1 (18:11):
It's good.
Speaker 4 (18:13):
I like it, and.
Speaker 3 (18:14):
I'm trying to figure out what's going you know, what's
going on, and uh, I won't blow it for anybody
or whatever.
Speaker 4 (18:19):
I try not to do that.
Speaker 5 (18:20):
But I'm really taking it back that you dig this
because I straight up said you I didn't think you
would like it?
Speaker 4 (18:25):
Oh really, why did you think I wouldn't because.
Speaker 2 (18:27):
Of just uh, they's so it's sci fi.
Speaker 5 (18:31):
There's so much ambiguity and that you have to it's
it's not stepping fetch and so there's a lot going
on there.
Speaker 2 (18:40):
I love it that you have.
Speaker 1 (18:41):
To think you're talking about it. It requires him to think
and he doesn't want to think.
Speaker 3 (18:45):
No, I'm thinking, I'm thinking, I like it.
Speaker 1 (18:49):
I like to think.
Speaker 4 (18:50):
I'm trying to figure out what's good.
Speaker 5 (18:52):
I'm because Ryan was the one that was not recommending
it to you, and I was like, he's not gonna
like that. That's not Basically one of the last conversations
we had before we went on break.
Speaker 3 (19:00):
Oh they're saying all her fault is on Peacock, not
on Netflix.
Speaker 4 (19:04):
My bad.
Speaker 3 (19:04):
I'm sorry. Thank you for straightening me out, Kim. I
appreciate that. Shut up, Kim, but no, listen, All her
Fault is one of the best things I've seen in
a long time. I was so upset when it was done.
I'm like, oh, man, no more of this. And Sarah
Snook is an amazing actress. And then Seahorn from Four
of Us is just as amazing, like, like really, really
a great actress.
Speaker 4 (19:24):
I like the fact that in this I'm not I
don't want to give anything.
Speaker 3 (19:26):
Away, but like all the you know who are supposed
to be the bad guys are also nice, like you know,
like like they're supposed to be the evil ones, but
they're so nice to your face. I like that part
of it. And uh and it makes you wonder like, Okay, well, gosh,
if we all thought alike, we wouldn't hate each other,
and maybe it would be better just to do it.
Speaker 5 (19:45):
And because there's one other like, for example, there's one
scene and just just a little teeny tiny tidbit, there's
one scene and she has an inappropriate conversation with a
character's son, and that let me know right there.
Speaker 2 (20:01):
No, that's not a good idea.
Speaker 3 (20:02):
Yeah, you're right, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, because then everybody
knows everything.
Speaker 1 (20:06):
Yeah, it's it's really good.
Speaker 3 (20:08):
And the last the last thing we saw was she
opened up this bag, and we don't know what's.
Speaker 1 (20:12):
In the bag.
Speaker 4 (20:14):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (20:14):
I think it's brains. I think I think that it's brains.
And they take humans brains, and they and they and
they and they uh somehow make them into dust and
that's what keeps them living. I don't know, we'll figure
it out. It's on every Wednesdays that come.
Speaker 2 (20:29):
Out, dude, I don't even know what Sundays, I thought, Yeah.
Speaker 1 (20:35):
I'm not caught up yet. I'm sure I'm on episode three,
are you?
Speaker 2 (20:39):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (20:39):
I like it. I just why did you think I
wouldn't like it? I didn't think Angel thought you didn't
because that you.
Speaker 6 (20:45):
Have to say very cerebe ceb.
Speaker 3 (20:49):
I mean literally is now there's there's eleven people that
aren't aren't affected by it, and everyone else is and
and and you're trying to figure out I love it.
Speaker 2 (20:59):
Thought, how he's done down?
Speaker 6 (21:00):
Yeah, but like, okay, so the budgets of these things
are like way out of control. We know that, uh,
And I always think like, here's the tism and me,
so I watched this episode.
Speaker 1 (21:09):
There's there's there's a.
Speaker 6 (21:10):
Very long scene where a lady is in the Middle
East and she travels all the way to the US. Yeah,
and it is a six and a half minute scene
that has airplanes. It's got like expensive like travel destinations
in it. And I'm like, you could have summed this
up in two shots.
Speaker 3 (21:28):
No, but I like the way they did it because
it shows shows but well now it just shows that
you know, she knows everything, like everybody knows everything.
Speaker 1 (21:35):
Yeah, that's I think.
Speaker 6 (21:37):
I think it's pretty cool, but I think you could Like,
I'm just like, you could have done this in a
couple couple of shots and.
Speaker 5 (21:42):
No, but see, okay, I get what you what you're saying, right,
but to give you the the.
Speaker 6 (21:48):
Over blow, it was so long that I'm like, why
is this still going on?
Speaker 1 (21:54):
I think, and it paid off and I'm like, okay.
Speaker 2 (21:57):
It's emphasize that point though, I think.
Speaker 3 (21:59):
You know what thing about the show though, I think
that after Angel said, oh, Russ won't like it, and
then when I just see the word plurbus. I don't
know what that means. That turns me off right there.
The only reason I watched that next.
Speaker 2 (22:13):
To Plurbus means out of many one.
Speaker 3 (22:16):
Okay, e plurbus, you know, I know that's like going
a dollar bill or something, but.
Speaker 1 (22:21):
The dollars it's tripper.
Speaker 3 (22:22):
The reason that I watched it is because of that actress,
and the reason that I watched that's why I fault,
was because of that actor. Those actresses made me go, Okay,
they're really great. This might be this probably is gonna
be a good show.
Speaker 4 (22:34):
Right.
Speaker 5 (22:35):
So before Ryan brought it up this last time, I
had brought up Pluribus like the when the day that
had dropped and I was like, hey, dude, that actress
that's in Better call Sault. This is her new project.
You should check this out. And you were like, whatever,
it doesn't sound like anything. So then a week or
ten days later, Ryan brings it up again, and uh,
because he watched it after I said to watch it,
(22:56):
and I was like, he's not gonna do That's why
that's where I was coming from. It's like, I don't
think this has got the hook that it will pull
them in.
Speaker 3 (23:02):
Yeah, for me, the hook was. I really loved that
woman as an actress. And then uh, and then you
know what, I don't think I knew which one you
were talking about. I don't.
Speaker 4 (23:11):
I didn't, I didn't.
Speaker 3 (23:14):
It didn't register with me which actors she were talking about.
And with Sarah Snook, I really liked her in succession.
That's the only reason I watched All Her Fault and
was really really uh happy with it. And so All
Her Fault is on Peacock Pluribus is on Apple TV.
Speaker 1 (23:29):
I believe, yes.
Speaker 3 (23:30):
And then I watched and I gotta tell you, I
gave it a shot. I even paid. I think I
paid nineteen ninety nine for it.
Speaker 6 (23:36):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (23:37):
But with my Air American Express, I could use points,
So I used points, and I watched The Smashing Machine.
I like the Rock.
Speaker 4 (23:44):
I've always liked the Rock.
Speaker 3 (23:45):
He's being badass, you know, one of the best talkers
ever in wrestling, and with you know his I like, uh,
you know, Jamanji and the Funny movie. And I watched
The Smashing Machine, and you know, I will just say
I did not like it at all, like like like he's.
Speaker 4 (24:01):
That's not a likable character.
Speaker 3 (24:03):
I was not impressed that he was you know, doing
an impersonation of this dude. It didn't really nothing that
you like about the rock is in it.
Speaker 2 (24:11):
Were you familiar with the guy though? Are you familiar
with Mark Kerr?
Speaker 3 (24:14):
I became familiar with him afterwards to see how close
he you know, impersonated him, you know, I mean personated
him pretty pretty well.
Speaker 1 (24:21):
He's not a likable guy.
Speaker 5 (24:22):
No, it's not set. The people that know him are
the people that like knew Mark Kerr. They've all come
out and are very like they're saying that he nailed it.
Speaker 3 (24:31):
He may have, but but Mark Kerr wasn't a likable dude.
He was a whiney baby that you know, fought with
his wife all the time, and just like, I don't know, man,
I I know, I know why people weren't talking about
the movie because there was I don't I didn't care
for did you see it?
Speaker 4 (24:47):
No?
Speaker 6 (24:47):
No?
Speaker 4 (24:48):
Yeah, I mean I didn't care for that.
Speaker 3 (24:49):
I mean that was the rock shot they said it,
you know, wanting to win an Academy Award or be
nominated or something.
Speaker 5 (24:56):
He's well out of the like out of all the
movies that have kind of done this thing where they're
taking these you know, characters and make them you know,
uh doc you know, docu dramas, whatever you want to
call it. So far, he's the one that's still getting
the run that he's going to get. Then he's going
to get the nomination.
Speaker 4 (25:13):
For this you think so?
Speaker 2 (25:14):
Yeah, now, and that's not my opinion.
Speaker 5 (25:16):
This is like you know, people from different industries, pages
and publications and everything. Let's put it this way. Vegas
was had to spread on this. He's the odds on
favorite to get it for that particular role.
Speaker 3 (25:27):
Well, when they're talking about movies in twenty twenty five
and they talk about movies that tank, Christy comes up
with Sidney Sweeney and then they talk about The Smashing
Machine with Duane the Rock, John say that both those were,
you know, big flops. So can do big flops get
nominated or do you know.
Speaker 2 (25:48):
It'll be interesting?
Speaker 1 (25:48):
I don't think so.
Speaker 6 (25:49):
I mean like like like whenever the Oscars pick a
like a movie that like we've never heard of.
Speaker 1 (25:56):
It's always like, well it did so well at festivals,
and like they.
Speaker 5 (25:59):
Don't got to standing ovation at Colm. Yeah, so that
got a standing ovation as possible. Christy got a standing
ovation at another film thing. And here's the difference of failure. Right,
you could be let's say, a commercial failure and be
a critical success. And that's how they're painting his movie
with Christie. They're not given they're not giving it even
(26:19):
the critical.
Speaker 2 (26:20):
Part of it.
Speaker 3 (26:21):
And you guys love them. And I'm going to watch
it as soon as at home.
Speaker 2 (26:25):
Yeah, watch it was not good.
Speaker 5 (26:27):
No, it's incredible. You're not gonna like it, you know,
because do you you already know the reasons why it's
there's it's it's it's a heavy it is like heavy heavy, heavy,
and and even and even the redeeming part of it
is it's we appreciate it differently.
Speaker 3 (26:47):
Because we know her, Christie mart So I want to
see how well you know, how close it And I
was there the times that she was the champion, and
and I knew him as well, so like, I know
these people. So I definitely want to see it. I
just didn't want to run out to the movie theater.
Speaker 1 (27:02):
And see it. You see the house, Yeah, you know what.
Speaker 6 (27:04):
I feel bad for a little bit, even though I
wasn't a big fan of the movie itself.
Speaker 1 (27:09):
Was a Guillermo del Toro.
Speaker 6 (27:11):
Because they're like they're actively changing the rules to let
him not get an Oscar.
Speaker 1 (27:16):
Why, because what they.
Speaker 6 (27:18):
Did was they released Frankestan on Netflix obviously, but so
they could get the Oscar nomination.
Speaker 1 (27:23):
They kind of they were kind of playing the system.
Speaker 4 (27:25):
It was.
Speaker 3 (27:25):
It was out two weeks in the movie theater, it
was out for.
Speaker 6 (27:27):
A couple of weeks and and only in like three
thousand theaters. Yeah, and they did that so they could
just do the bare minimum to get the Oscar, and Netflix,
you know, wanted it on their platform. Well, the Oscars
were like, we know what you're doing, and no, we're
not going to allow this.
Speaker 1 (27:43):
Really, so he's not eligible for he.
Speaker 6 (27:46):
Can get he can get like technical Oscars, like the
movie can be nominated for like technical Oscars, but he
can't win Best Picture.
Speaker 3 (27:53):
I seriously enjoyed that movie. Yeah, I thought it was
really really good.
Speaker 6 (27:56):
It's the shame because I think if they would have
just released that movie normal, he would.
Speaker 1 (27:59):
Be up for a lot of that stuff.
Speaker 4 (28:00):
I think so too.
Speaker 3 (28:01):
Yeah, well, Smashing Machine, I was just say I didn't
like it.
Speaker 4 (28:05):
I didn't I didn't like the character. I didn't care
if he won or lost.
Speaker 3 (28:08):
He seemed like a painty ass and it really had
no ending at all, and I wasn't. I mean, you know,
the Rock, you know, I think you know the Rock
does good stuff and and all that.
Speaker 6 (28:20):
But he was good comedic actor. I don't need to
see him be serious. I don't need to see the
serious side of the Rock.
Speaker 3 (28:25):
Yeah, I agree. I didn't need to see that. So anyway,
more big dumb fun. When we come back, you're listening
to the Match of the morning. So today is Cyber Monday,
(28:48):
and there's a lot of Cyber Monday specials and deals
and stuff going on. If you want to help us out,
Like ten days from now, we're going to be doing
the Real Radio Bike Drive and you want to get
some great deals on some bikes for kids who you
know need them for Christmas. This is a great day
to buy you like you they got the you know,
special deals on bikes for kids and stuff.
Speaker 4 (29:09):
This is a great day to do it.
Speaker 3 (29:11):
And we'll be doing the Real Radio Bike Drive now.
It's not just the Monsters, all the all three of
the shows you got, the Monsters, the News, Jokie and
the Jim Colbert Show all participating.
Speaker 2 (29:21):
We are all out there all day.
Speaker 3 (29:23):
Yeah, we're gonna be out at Orlando Harley Davidson. We
get to kick it off. It's brought to you by
just cole Mo and Core Floor in center, and we
get to kick it off. We would like you to,
you know, bring some bikes by say hello. You know,
I don't know what we're doing that day, but we're
gonna do something fun. We'll make it big, dumb fun somehow,
and we would love to see you out there. And
(29:43):
it's at Orlando Harley Davidson, and you know, grab some
bikes today and bring them.
Speaker 4 (29:48):
Out to us on the on the tenth. And how
many bikes you think.
Speaker 3 (29:52):
We'll be able to get in with all the shows participating.
Speaker 5 (29:56):
So I mean we've consistently gotten I think, on average
about three hundred or so, yeah, or in that area.
So if you figure everybody is participating, it's an all
day event there Orlando. Harley's going to be a part
of it. They're gonna have food trucks out there. There's
gonna be a bunch of stuff to go on.
Speaker 4 (30:13):
I'm thinking a thousand.
Speaker 2 (30:14):
Okay, I was gonna just say double up.
Speaker 6 (30:18):
I'm thinking I'm gonna go Tariffs and recession coming three
oh five.
Speaker 3 (30:23):
Okay, Well, I forgot about the terror. Yeah, dude, So yeah,
that's that's what I say going up. Yeah, that's why.
Speaker 5 (30:31):
No, No, that's what That's why Jack was saying and
emphasizing that if you're gonna, if you can't help us
out in your black Friday, Yeah, and uh, this whole
weekend end cyber Monday, to take advantage of that, of
the of the percentage. That's why saying like six hundred,
I think is a real.
Speaker 4 (30:46):
Like yeah, more realistic, Okay.
Speaker 6 (30:49):
I think people don't realize, like how close on the
teetering edge we are to an actual recession.
Speaker 1 (30:54):
And I know a lot of people are already feeling it.
Speaker 5 (30:57):
Dude, we had business owner. We had a business owner
and on Friday, right before we left, and we just
straight up said, hey, I don't know why people, Yeah
why and he's I mean that dude is connected in
that town.
Speaker 6 (31:07):
He's in the business that is the best indicator for
a coming recession, which is the bar business.
Speaker 5 (31:11):
Oh.
Speaker 4 (31:11):
I heard, all the prices are down. Everything's happening.
Speaker 1 (31:15):
I think it's so bad.
Speaker 6 (31:16):
That's why they didn't release that jobs report. And I
think we're about to get hit real hard. I It's look,
this will be my third I think my third once
in a lifetime economic collapses, So I'm ready to go.
Speaker 1 (31:26):
I'll eat a lot of Ministran soup, you know what
I mean.
Speaker 6 (31:29):
But I know that, like I currently, I'm like being
very careful with my money and where it goes right
now because I'm just like what's gonna happen coming up?
You know, like Christmas might be a little bit light
in the old Holmes House, just as we prepare for
a long winter.
Speaker 3 (31:45):
If you can help us with the you know, with
the bike drive, we'd appreciate it.
Speaker 4 (31:49):
Once again.
Speaker 3 (31:50):
It's gonna be December the tenth. We'll be doing a
live show out there, so will the News Junkie so
well the Jim Colbert Show.
Speaker 4 (31:56):
And we'd like to get a lot of bikes for
kids for Christmas.
Speaker 3 (31:59):
So the tariffs do affect the bikes, have they gone up?
Speaker 6 (32:03):
But depends on where the I mean, where everything's coming from,
because everything right now has a different tariff and some
places are exempt from it. I know, things like clothes
and things like that are up about twenty percent.
Speaker 3 (32:16):
I know, we say that and everything, Like I know,
the tree that we got, the Christmas tree that we
got normally was like three or four hundred dollars or something,
but we got it on special. We got it for
one hundred bucks and it's it's from China. So like,
I don't know, I think you still you can look
and find deals.
Speaker 6 (32:30):
You know, there's always gonna be deals, And like it
didn't slow down like the black It slowed down Black
Friday shopping, but not to like, you know, the level
they thought. People still dole out money in this time
of year because we're in a capitalist society and that's
what we do.
Speaker 1 (32:46):
We buy stuff.
Speaker 6 (32:48):
I'm just like, like you guys said, like if you're
gonna help us out with the bike drive, we really
appreciate you. And this week is the time to get
to purchase and don't I'm just saying, like, don't wait
until the sales go away.
Speaker 3 (33:00):
So today is Cyber Monday. Does that mean tomorrow there's
no sales anymore? Like it's all done like all the
all the relatively speaking.
Speaker 5 (33:07):
Yeah, Like that's the hustle, right that you try to
take advance. And but we're in a time now, Russ,
Like you mentioned, from the very beginning, it seemed like
it's been it was cyber November. Yeah, you know what
I mean, so, I'm sure there's still going to be
deals out, but typically historically for businesses, that's why Black
Friday was always kind of a big deal. Is that
(33:27):
that's where businesses would basically make their year. You know
what I'm saying, get back into it. Just doing a
quick search around a couple of different financial indicator sites,
RUSS bicycles are anywhere from sixteen to sixty percent higher
now depending on like again, like if you're buying a
high end bicycle road by kind of thing, which is
(33:50):
a few thousand dollars, that's probably where you're going to
notice a more impactful kind of a situation because of
some of the specialized parts that make up comprise those
very specialized bicycles, are you know, manufactured elsewhere right.
Speaker 4 (34:04):
Well, listen, if you can help us, that'd be great.
It'd be a good day to.
Speaker 3 (34:07):
Pick up some bikes to help us out for the
bike drive that's coming up. And uh, and we would
appreciate that very very much. Uh, this is just just
is anyone is anyone sick of the Mariah Carey song?
Speaker 1 (34:20):
Yet?
Speaker 4 (34:21):
All I want for Christmas is you?
Speaker 5 (34:23):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (34:24):
After like last year was the first time I was
like all right, I'm kinda I'm kind of done with it.
Speaker 3 (34:28):
Do you know how much money she makes every year
or yeah, like every year on row?
Speaker 4 (34:33):
I don't know what.
Speaker 3 (34:33):
And I'm not a hater kind of guy, and I've
always loved that song.
Speaker 5 (34:36):
You literally both of you are sounding like haters right now.
It is Christmas. You only have to hear that song.
Speaker 2 (34:43):
For what I.
Speaker 4 (34:45):
Started with saying, I know it sounds this.
Speaker 5 (34:47):
Is another thing you said, like this is what's friend's
freddy since you don't have young people around you that
give you that infectious holiday energy.
Speaker 2 (34:55):
You guys are just so bitter.
Speaker 4 (34:59):
How much money thinks she makes every year from this song?
Speaker 2 (35:01):
All the money she deserves, all of it.
Speaker 1 (35:04):
Two point five million dollars good for her.
Speaker 3 (35:06):
Damn, it's a lot of money, good for her.
Speaker 6 (35:10):
She deserves more. No, I mean like, I don't mean
I hate the song. I'm just like now, like for
a while that was like that it felt like a
new song, you know what I mean, Like because all
of our songs for Christmas are from the fifties, basically,
you know what I mean, And that one always felt
like the new one.
Speaker 1 (35:25):
And now I think it's the point.
Speaker 6 (35:26):
Twenty years later, where I'm starting to file it in
under the same category as like your White Christmas is
your you know those classics.
Speaker 2 (35:34):
Very compelling argument, very compelled.
Speaker 5 (35:36):
It's if you want somebody to knock her off the throne,
then somebody recording artists make up a better song.
Speaker 3 (35:43):
It's considered the greatest Christmas song of all time. Now boom,
what do you think is in number two? So behind
All I Want for Christmas is You by Mariah Carey
and she gets two point five million dollars every year.
That's I mean, listen, God bless her. I wish I
could have come up with that, you know, God bless her.
What do you think is the number two? According to
what is this? Uh wants to just timeout dot com.
(36:04):
I don't know what that is, so it doesn't really matter,
I guess, but you might want to look at that website.
Speaker 5 (36:09):
Is it a going Yeah, it's fantastic, you'll love it. Oh,
great stuff.
Speaker 3 (36:13):
There Timeout dot com. Okay, yeah, anyway, what do you
think they say? Is that the number two greatest Christmas
song of all time?
Speaker 5 (36:19):
If she's number one, is there another contemporary artist or.
Speaker 4 (36:23):
I mean not, I mean I don't know.
Speaker 5 (36:27):
Uh, big bad Voodo Daddy's heat Miser.
Speaker 4 (36:33):
No, it's Last Christmas by Wham.
Speaker 1 (36:36):
I was gonna say that.
Speaker 6 (36:37):
I was gonna say, say if you're dog too talking
about deafened heat Miser. I don't even know who that is.
Christmas is a trash sure, Last Christmas hot take that.
That's not a good that's a good song.
Speaker 1 (36:57):
Repetitive.
Speaker 6 (36:58):
There's literally a challenge wherever you try to avoid hearing
that song because a it's so prevalent, it's so repetitive,
it's all over the place.
Speaker 1 (37:06):
I would put that. I won't even put that in
top ten the Pogues. That's a great song.
Speaker 4 (37:12):
Fairy Tale in New York. Yeah, I know that song.
Speaker 2 (37:15):
You've heard it, dude.
Speaker 4 (37:16):
How's it go?
Speaker 6 (37:17):
Yeah, it's about being drunk. It's about being drunk in
a drunk tank.
Speaker 1 (37:24):
Playing the song. Play that, you'll be surprised how spot
on that actually was.
Speaker 4 (37:30):
I don't know that song.
Speaker 6 (37:32):
It's more of like a Sunday morning coming down kind
of vibe of a Christmas song.
Speaker 4 (37:36):
Wow.
Speaker 6 (37:37):
So but I really enjoyed now. It's not something I
want to hear necessarily on Christmas Day.
Speaker 3 (37:43):
Number four is Santa Tell Me Ariana Grande.
Speaker 1 (37:47):
Never even heard it.
Speaker 2 (37:48):
You've heard it.
Speaker 4 (37:48):
It's just back, yeah, Santa Te, Yeah, yeah, you've heard it.
Speaker 6 (37:51):
Yeah, okay, I don't follow grande, but that you're telling me,
that's if she got knocked. It has to be as
as recognizable at least as ask Christmas.
Speaker 1 (38:00):
And that's long, is it?
Speaker 4 (38:01):
Santa? Tell me? And then come on, you know it.
Speaker 2 (38:05):
He knows it.
Speaker 5 (38:06):
If this guy knows that you've heard it, you just
didn't realize what you were listening to.
Speaker 6 (38:10):
Yeah, okay, Uh, I gotta go with it.
Speaker 2 (38:14):
But uh, he's singing it to you.
Speaker 1 (38:17):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (38:17):
He's singing it to you better. He's singing it better
to you than I sing.
Speaker 6 (38:20):
The folks people are agreeing with me. I said that
was a great rendition.
Speaker 3 (38:25):
People are saying, great rendition. People are That's all you
gotta do. You just gotta say that. People are saying,
if you just say everyone's saying it, then they thinks
that you're right. Everybody says, everyone says that gas prices
are having around two dollars.
Speaker 4 (38:37):
Everybody's saying.
Speaker 3 (38:40):
Everybody says, okay, well, then if everybody's saying it must
be true, We're take a little break. We'll do a
little monster sports. When we come back, everybody's saying, it's
the best sports in town, best sport when we come back,
don't go any got an award for it, there you go,
everyone's saying. People said, you listened to the watch of
the morning
