Making soccer relevant with still and lists late into the
year and take that. Orlando City do better, all right, Well,
he know, we'll.
Speaker 1 (02:35):
Run here with the college football teams RUSS. Like we
mentioned number eighteen Miami, the University of Miami lost to SMU,
and uh and you guys that text earlier, you guys
are right, SMU is that one team that seems to
be University of Miami's thorn in their side, the Southern
Southern Methodist University Ryan And so yeah, they for whatever
(03:01):
the reasons are, SMU always gets up to play Miami.
Miami plays Syracuse next Saturday, November. The eighth FSU handled
Wake Forest on Saturday, forty two to seven.
Speaker 3 (03:15):
Do it.
Speaker 1 (03:15):
Yeah, And then we had University Florida. Tough, tough game,
but they they took Georgia to the wire. Number five
Georgia beats Florida twenty four to twenty.
Speaker 4 (03:29):
So you bet on Florida.
Speaker 3 (03:30):
I bet on Florida. Yeah, because at the time of
bet I think they were like tied, and I was like, well,
they're holding him this long. It seems like a good bet.
The odds were good enough to just throw twenty five
bucks down. I think it got me one hundred bucks.
So I was like, Okay, let's do it. Let's see
what's up. And then they fell apart at the end,
which is unfortunately.
Speaker 1 (03:48):
So you're a fan of in game betting, Yes, yeah,
I don't mess around with that. I just beg he said, degenerate. Hey,
next game for Florida, it's gonna be Saturday, November. They eight,
They're gonna play Kentucky. What's become a very very difficult
season for U. See a football played Baylor, and Baylor
wrung them up for thirty They're not They're not good
(04:09):
this yet, right, Yeah, Baylor beat the UCF Knights thirty
two three. Well you see, I mean they're four and four.
Speaker 3 (04:15):
Yeah, they're not horrible, but not you know, not my
favorite year.
Speaker 1 (04:21):
Yeah, they're not as far as road team. They're not
a good road team.
Speaker 3 (04:25):
One and four as far as our conference goes. So
it's it's over seasons ago, but so fun to watch.
So I always, I always love I'm always going to
support the Nights, all right, mostly because I with them
a lot of money.
Speaker 1 (04:38):
World Series wraps up.
Speaker 2 (04:40):
There's arguments the greatest World Series.
Speaker 1 (04:43):
Okay, right, I want to present this argument to you
guys and see what you feel. So baseball pundits, right, the.
Speaker 3 (04:49):
Baseball Yeah, base one guy cars.
Speaker 1 (04:52):
Oh, I worried about all that. I know what they're
saying is that the Dodgers, because of the way that
they've been spending for their on their team have broken baseball.
This is what like baseball guys say, right broken. Yeah,
They're like, oh, you know, they spent so much money
on this team, blah blah blah. Baseball is broken because
of the Dodgers. No da da da. Meanwhile, US regular fans,
(05:14):
casual fans, let's say the regular folk, They're like, man,
this is the best World Series I've ever seen. This
is the best World Series I've ever seen in my life.
That's all I've heard from people. So I'm curious if
if that argument lands on either one of you guys
in the sense of I know that I've paid more
attention to this World Series than i have in quite
(05:34):
some time. Yeah, So again, congratulations to the Dodgers. They
beat the Blue Jays in Game seven of the twenty
twenty five World Series. They're the champ champs again. The
game went to eleven eleven innings. Dodgers beat them five
to four because.
Speaker 2 (05:49):
It looked like Toronto was gonna do it, because the
chances of l A winning two games in a row
like all that.
Speaker 1 (05:55):
Well, dude, this game was not gonna happen. Seven was
insane in the sense there was a couple of times
there in the late innings were they was over. Both
teams had three players on base. Yeah, and their pitchers
were able to get out of those jams, you know
what I mean.
Speaker 2 (06:08):
So, but in shoey Otani is now considered probably one
of the greatest baseball players of all time. Oh yeah,
I think so with that even, I mean, it's not
even a question anymore. I mean he's pitching, he's hitting,
and like he's doing everything.
Speaker 1 (06:23):
He's right now because of this World Series Russ, he
gets the moniker of having the best individual World Series
game a baseball player can have, and that was what
game three where he struck out ten Toronto players and
hit a couple of home runs that game, and then
by the end of it he and you know, he's
on the win the championship team.
Speaker 3 (06:43):
So, I don't know, the only player to reach nine
bass nine times one game.
Speaker 1 (06:49):
Yeah, Yeah, there's a couple of Yeah, there's.
Speaker 4 (06:52):
A nast question.
Speaker 2 (06:52):
How come showy Otani doesn't play baseball in Japan.
Speaker 1 (06:56):
Because he wanted to come to the MLB. He did
play in Japan, he did? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (07:00):
Was he the man in Japan? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (07:02):
Yeah, MLB is considered like in baseball, Major League Baseball
is considered the pinnacles. It's still worldwide. Yeah okay, yeah,
so and uh he did he we you know, coming
to the Major League Baseball was his goal. There's there's
been iconic or very big Japanese baseball players that they
don't want to play MLB. They stay there and there
(07:23):
are huge, you know, heroes in their country, but they
never make it.
Speaker 2 (07:26):
Uh, he came here and he he now dominates MLB. Yeah,
that's pretty cool.
Speaker 3 (07:32):
What do you think about the argument with all these
pundits are like, well, the Toronto Blue Jays were the
better team and this Dodgers team doesn't deserve to.
Speaker 1 (07:40):
Win, say that they weren't the better team. There's so
there's an argument there as well that that they're making.
Uh here's the thing. At the end of the day
of the Dodgers won. Yeah, yeah, you know, and there's
a commentator I think that I think that's what you're
talking about, where he's like, I don't give it as
what it says, the Toronto Blue Jays were the better team.
I was like it basically, it's a it's a sport,
(08:02):
it's a Toronto based sports journalist who's basically crashing out
on live TV. Yep, and so he's like cussing and
stuff for us and his heart is broken. Yeah, no, no, no, no,
it was a Toronto guy. Yeah, it was a Toronto
guy that did it. Yeah, all right, So again an
NFL weekend. Week nine of eighteenth, so the middle of
(08:24):
the season, and of all the weeks for NFL to NFL,
it seems like this was the week that they were
going the NFL was going to do that. Forty nine Ers,
with all of their injuries, with everything going off, beat
the Giants thirty four to twenty four. Dang Chargers beat
the Titans twenty seven to twenty. Vikings lose. Vikings beat
the Lions twenty seven to twenty four, even with the
(08:44):
Lions crazy late touchdown. Detroit Lions were really really good.
They sure good. They got beat by the Vikings. The
Vikings aren't bakings good. Vikings are four and four, Detroit
Lions are five and three. Okay, So, and the thing
with the Vikings is that they finally play. There are
a number the quarterback that had drafted a couple of
years ago, and they've been kind of protecting him, getting
(09:05):
them through injuries. J. J. McCarthy finally played a full game,
had two touchdowns, win, interception fourteen for twenty five for
one hundred and forty three yards. But he like he
looked good. So that was that game we got. The
Patriots beat the Falcons by one Ryan.
Speaker 3 (09:21):
Number one there, so they just going all the way
go win the Super Bowl.
Speaker 1 (09:26):
Patriots now are seven and two.
Speaker 2 (09:28):
What Yeah, the Patriots are seven and two.
Speaker 1 (09:30):
Good, They're good. That's crazy.
Speaker 3 (09:33):
I'm saying that, Drake the next time, Brady've been saying
that this whole I think the.
Speaker 2 (09:36):
Dolphins play the Patriots next.
Speaker 1 (09:40):
Steelers Steelers Steelers. Steelers beat the Indianapolis colt who are
now seven and two. Uh stop at two game slide
and beat them twenty seven and twenty Aaron Rodgers threw
for two hundred and three yards and one touchdown, so
uh again, uh, fascinating game. Broncos beat the Texans eighteen
fifteen in a ridiculous like if just for crazy football.
(10:06):
The Bears beat the Bengals forty seven to forty two. Wow. Yes, Yes,
that was the That was the most fun game of
the day. I did nothing, nothing invested in that, but
just watching them play basically Madden style football.
Speaker 4 (10:20):
That's see, that's fun.
Speaker 1 (10:21):
Yeah, the Panthers watch out for the break up the Panthers.
Panthers go into Green Bay and beat them sixteen to thirteen.
Carolina Panthers find themselves five and four. There were people
that were the hell yeah, there were people say that
the Panthers season was over at the you know, after
three games. And so Carolina Panthers going to Green Bay
(10:42):
beat them five and four. So their record is five
and four, beat them sixteen thirteen. Green Bay Packers are
now fifty five two and one. Rams beat the Saints
thirty four to ten. Jaguars again hold out crazy field
goal and win, and over time get the Raiders thirty
(11:04):
to twenty nine.
Speaker 2 (11:05):
And by the way, if you didn't hear us talk
about it earlier, like a guy kicked a sixty eight
yard field goal, Like and it's the guy that did
it in one of the preseasons, and we're like, oh,
it doesn't count because his preseason. Well, now he's done
it in a regular season game and now has the
record for the longest field goal ever at Jacksonville.
Speaker 4 (11:23):
Jackson that's badass field goal.
Speaker 1 (11:26):
That's a that's a that's crazy. Kid's got a leg
on him.
Speaker 3 (11:30):
A little.
Speaker 1 (11:32):
Bill's another really highly entertaining game. Bills beat the Chiefs
twenty eight twenty one.
Speaker 4 (11:38):
Yeah, what do you think about that?
Speaker 1 (11:39):
I mean, that's I think that's our first regular season
the Bill's first regular season win against the Chiefs. Yes,
so yeah, good on them. Josh Allen looked great.
Speaker 2 (11:49):
I saw a couple of interceptions with the Patrick Mahomes.
Speaker 1 (11:52):
Not he only threw one. It was just one, Yeah,
just one. Patrick Mahomes threw four two hundred and fifty yards,
one interception. Josh Allen threw for two hundred and seventy
three yards one touchdown. So again, this is just a
They're gonna run into each other again in the postseason,
and this is a preview of that matchup. It's gonna
be again.
Speaker 3 (12:13):
Depends when you get too big forear breaches, when you
got everybody's looking at you, you got Taylor Swift bothering everybody.
Speaker 1 (12:19):
Stop it happened. What are you talking about? You're not
even paying attention because the Chiefs were their season there.
They were saying their Chiefs was their season was over
at the beginning of the season because of all the injuries.
They're fine, They're at five and four. What are you
talking about this middle of the season. The Bills are
not much better, They're only six and two.
Speaker 3 (12:35):
Feel better?
Speaker 1 (12:36):
Stop it.
Speaker 3 (12:36):
I'm saying this all all you were acting Patrick Mahomesty's.
Speaker 2 (12:41):
A better quarterback Josh Allen or Patrick Patrick Mahomes.
Speaker 1 (12:44):
I think Josh Allen, Well, he needs to win an MVP,
then Seahawks beat the He needs to win an MVP
and win a super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (12:52):
Then John touch Okay, okay, So whenever you make when
I ask you a question, this is like the third
time you've done that.
Speaker 4 (12:57):
When I asked you a question.
Speaker 2 (12:58):
You just go by, well this is but this is
what he has, so this means his value. But but
I'm saying, like right now today, right not to forget
about whatever he's done before today.
Speaker 1 (13:08):
Quarterback easy, that's but I mean easily.
Speaker 2 (13:11):
They beat him yesterday, So easily then he would be, well,
you want me, you with your with your the way
of thinking. Then yesterday Josh Allen proved he's a better
quarterback because he won.
Speaker 1 (13:22):
No, he isn't. Yeah again, you want me to base
this off a one game sample, So I give you
the answer that you want, I'm taking the whole career
and up ahead to head. This is the first time
Josh Allen has beat Patrick Mahons in the regular season.
That says it all. Okay, Seahawks beat the Commodorees thirdy
eight to fourteen, and then Monday Night football tonight is
going to be the Cowboys versus the Cardinals and that's
(13:44):
going to be at eight fifteen and much Sports.
Speaker 2 (13:47):
Who are you taking? Cowboys and Cardinals?
Speaker 1 (13:48):
Are you taking? This is going to be? Okay, let's
see what their records are. And so the Arizona Cardinals
are two and five, but they've lost a lot of
close games for dumb stuff. And the Dallas Cowboys are
just dumb. They're three to four and one. I mean
they're playing at They're playing at at and T Stadium,
and I know you guys are gonna bu up the Texans.
(14:09):
Cowboys have one of the highest offenses in the league.
You're right, you guys finding neat ways to lose games.
I don't know who the favorite is, Ryan, who's the favorite?
Speaker 3 (14:18):
Favorite on that one?
Speaker 1 (14:19):
Cowboys have to be the favorite?
Speaker 3 (14:20):
Is yeah, Cowboys by how much? Three?
Speaker 1 (14:23):
And they're playing and they're playing at at and T Stadium.
We gotta put the parley of the day together real quick.
All right, we'll take a break. You guys can do that.
Speaker 2 (14:31):
And I got a sports question to ask you guys
when we come back. Don't go anywhere. You're listening to
the match in the morning. Yeah, I was wrong. So
the Dolphins are not playing the Patriots this week. They're
(14:53):
playing the Pills. That'll be a that'll be a mess.
Speaker 1 (15:00):
When my buddy, you saw that fired the GM on Friday, right,
they fired the GM. Yeah, or they came to a
mutual agreement.
Speaker 2 (15:07):
A friend of mine is driving down to the game
and going to the game because he's a big Bills fan.
The Bills fans are, I mean, some of the best fans,
that's for sure.
Speaker 1 (15:14):
Hardcore, dedicated, record, dedicated. I respect that and thank you
guys for all the text correcting me. Russ. So the
Bills have the regular end season record, they have dominated
the Chiefs. It's postseason that the Bills have not been
able to beat the Chiefs. So I got that reverse.
Speaker 2 (15:31):
So I do like Josh Allen though, you know, even
though people are like, you're supposed to be a Miami fan,
you shouldn't say anything good about the I guess I'm
just not that invested, So I can just sit back
and go I like this guy, you know, I like
to see him do well. Here's what I'm gonna talk
to you guys about, and tell me what you think
about this. If you were in charge, right, if you
(15:51):
were in charge, and you were in charge of the
Buffalo Bills, and you know, this is their last season
in this particular stadium that they're playing in because building
a brand new stadium that's one I think it's one
point one billion dollars, a one point one billion dollars stadium,
and they have decided with this brand new stadium where
(16:12):
they could afford to put a roof on it if
they wanted to. They're now part of our part of
our gimmick is to leave the roof off and let
the snow come in and and and and you know,
we Bills fans go and clean up the They're going
to keep that tradition of leaving it open so Bills
fans can come clean out all the snow and and
that it's you know, it's harder for other teams to
(16:36):
come in and play when they have a horrible snow storm.
Speaker 4 (16:40):
Is that what you would do?
Speaker 1 (16:41):
Absolutely? You say, yeah, Pittsburgh plays out in the open,
all those teams the one team in there. The Vikings
play indoors, Troit plays into doors, Bears play outside, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Buffalo,
the New York teams, the Jets, Theyjudgs. Yeah, because they
the Giants are just playing the same stadium Giants and
(17:03):
that's out.
Speaker 2 (17:04):
So if you were building a new stadium, Ryan, I mean,
I mean, would you would you do it this way?
Speaker 1 (17:10):
And like, yep, we're gonna leave it open.
Speaker 3 (17:12):
Yeah, you would. People like that. That's a big part
for the fans to come out and do all that.
You've been doing it for so long.
Speaker 1 (17:20):
It's like it's like a connection that Yeah, that's definitely
a connection to the community. And and the Bills fans
get up for that. They that's like an extra like
a kick from them if they get, you know, cleaning
up the stadium for after a big giant snowfall.
Speaker 2 (17:32):
So dome stadiums are the Dallas Cowboys staying that we
talked it's domed, and then I know the one in
New Orleans is domed.
Speaker 1 (17:40):
Yeah, and the Chargers play in a new uh so fi.
That's a crazy new dome stadium that has the apparent
that has their parents that it's outside sometimes.
Speaker 2 (17:50):
Man, And if I was, if I was, if I
was like the Miami Dolphins, I would dome it that way.
Speaker 1 (17:55):
It's not so freaking hot. No, but they do. They
keep it open. They get the reverse of that. When
teams from up north come down to play them, they
get Tampa's the same way, Jacksonville the same way. The
humidity and the heat plays in their favor. So they
get that the benefit of that.
Speaker 3 (18:11):
Yeah, it's all that. That's the fun part of it.
You know, you can play in Denver, you can breathe,
and go to Tampa you can tot and then the
bills get like crushing, debilitating snowstorm. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (18:22):
I mean, for example, if we're gonna do that and
try to make it sanitize and every team plays in
a in a dome for the you know, for the
sake of the gameplay, then yeah, what do you do
with the Denver Broncos because their advantages that they're a
mile up. You have to move the stadium, you know,
somewhere out of Denver so that it's at sea level,
like with all the other teams.
Speaker 2 (18:40):
So the places where there are domes, are they are
they popular or are they not? Yeah? Oh yeah yeah,
like like because I know that I hear a lot
about the stadium in Dallas.
Speaker 1 (18:51):
That's what because that's the crown jewel. That's the best,
that's the that's the.
Speaker 2 (18:55):
Only good thing about Dallas's the stadium, right, this is
everything everything else is it's all bad about Dallas.
Speaker 4 (19:00):
But they got a really awesome stadium.
Speaker 1 (19:03):
World class, uh based kind of facility they have there
so so far is pretty cool too. That's the new
stadium for the Rams. MSG.
Speaker 4 (19:13):
So are you guys doing a parlay thing today?
Speaker 1 (19:16):
Yeah? The Angel Ryan party of other day. All right, so
real quick because some of the stuff that I ran
out of time to mention. But the Orlando Magic have
rattled off a couple of wins. Congratulations to them, so
people stopped saying that. They say, yeah, there, they've calmed
down so that we beat We beat the Hornets on
Thursday one, one oh seven. We beat the Wizards Saturday
(19:38):
night ninety four, and then this is a real quick
turnaround for a redemption game. Ryan, We're playing the Atlanta
Hawks tomorrow at State Farm Arena up there. So it
would be because we lost to them early in the season,
so it'd be an opportunity to get get one back
real quick versus them.
Speaker 3 (19:55):
Let's turn it around, baby.
Speaker 1 (19:56):
And then but we don't bet on our home team.
And then uh n h a NHL Penguins versus Maple Leafs,
Oilers and the Blues, Conducts and the Predators and the
black Hawks and the Kraken.
Speaker 4 (20:09):
So who's your parlay?
Speaker 1 (20:10):
Who do you like there? Ryan? Uh? Penguins?
Speaker 4 (20:13):
Start with the NFL tonight, NFL who'd we take?
Speaker 1 (20:16):
Are we taking?
Speaker 3 (20:17):
I'm taking I'm gonna take Cowboys.
Speaker 2 (20:18):
So it's the Cowboys and the US the Cardinals, which
I forgot Cardinals were even playing football.
Speaker 1 (20:24):
Jacoby Brissett is the QB for Arizona tonight.
Speaker 3 (20:27):
Yeah, and so then uh, let's see what are we
going hockey?
Speaker 2 (20:33):
Is it hard for you to take the Cowboys being
a Pittsburgh Steeler fan?
Speaker 1 (20:36):
Yeah, Well, because so this is a bit and we're
doing and I'm playing with Ryan, okay, and so it's
kind of in my head, it's kind of like makes
a bit. Yeah, it's made up world, you know, So
it's you know, it's why it's part of Cartoon World,
because if if I could had enough time to convince Ryan,
I think the upside of the big money would be
because Jacoby Brissett is playing better quarterback then uh Kyler
(20:58):
Murray was that this is the kind of game the
Dallas Cowboys lose at home versus the That's something if
if we were if I had more time to argue this.
This is where I think, like, if we want to gamble, right,
sometimes you just want to gam Okay, the gamblers bet
is to take the Cardinals over the cow You need
to listen to Angel.
Speaker 3 (21:17):
All right, I'll go Cardinals.
Speaker 1 (21:18):
There you go.
Speaker 4 (21:19):
That's a smart move.
Speaker 3 (21:20):
I think I want to go. I want to bet
on the Nashville Predator game just because I like the
Saturday Live skoot about it.
Speaker 1 (21:25):
Reason that was.
Speaker 4 (21:28):
Hey, that was a good episode of Saturday Night Live.
Speaker 3 (21:30):
Some of it was very very funny.
Speaker 2 (21:32):
Yeah, and I like I like Brandy Carlisle.
Speaker 1 (21:36):
Yeah, great artists. All right, Ryan, So just to take
this in consideration, the Vancouver Canucks are coming to Nashville.
Canucks are six and seven, Nationalists five and six and two.
So I concur with you. I like that bet.
Speaker 3 (21:50):
All right, there you go.
Speaker 4 (21:51):
That's two bets, you need one more?
Speaker 3 (21:52):
Right for l a a basketball game.
Speaker 1 (21:56):
Let me go back to the why can't you bet
on the Magic Because it's our hometowns, we can do it.
Speaker 3 (22:00):
I mean those the rules, right, they're not playing tonight,
they're not playing tonight. But yeah, we don't bet on
the home teams. That's that. That's the stupid rule.
Speaker 4 (22:11):
If you think that our team is going to win,
you should bet on them.
Speaker 1 (22:13):
Yeah, but they're not playing tonight. So does who work
for the parlay? So We've got Bucks and Pacers, Timberwolves
and Nets, Wizards and the Cannecks, Celtics and Jazz, Grizzlies, Pistons,
Rockets and Mavericks and Lakers, Trail Blazers, Kings, Nuggets, and
the Heat versus the Clippers. Which game do you like?
Speaker 4 (22:31):
I can't vote on the Heat?
Speaker 3 (22:33):
No, absolutely, well they're How Aboutzzlies? I want to vote
on the Celtic. I vote for the Celtics just because
I've been wrong on them the last two.
Speaker 1 (22:40):
You want to go Celtics Jazz? Yeah yeah, Utah is
coming to Boston. Utah is two and four, Boston Celtics
are three or four. I'll concur with you. On that
one too. Those are three locks right there.
Speaker 3 (22:52):
That's three locks. There you go.
Speaker 1 (22:58):
Did you see the guy that texted in I hit
the six game parlay?
Speaker 3 (23:01):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (23:02):
Yeah, dude texted in earlier he had a six game
parlay was good for twenty two hundred. Wow, all right,
let's congratulations. Lock it in. Hey.
Speaker 2 (23:10):
Today is also National Sandwich Day. I've explained this many
years in a row. I'm curious about who remembers Ryan.
Do you remember you don't have to remember who it was,
the earl of sandwich, but how or why he invented
the sandwich? Do you remember why or how this guy
gets credit for inventing the sandwich that we know.
Speaker 3 (23:32):
Today making a sex toy?
Speaker 1 (23:34):
Rush, He was not making a sex toy and it's incorrect.
Speaker 3 (23:36):
You put two pieces of slim and meat in between
bread and was like, let's go baby, No, that is
not it. Angel.
Speaker 2 (23:42):
Do you remember why this guy gets credit for.
Speaker 1 (23:44):
Hi, Like, both shows did a big bit on it.
But was it just because something for the poor?
Speaker 2 (23:50):
No, it's something Ryan does. Something Ryan does. I think
of something the Ryan does and this guy Rush, this
guy invented a sandwich. It is not it is in
Greg and We've said this every year, really, and I
forgot it too.
Speaker 4 (24:07):
Just say, you know, I'm not trying to I'm not trying.
Speaker 1 (24:09):
To act better than you guys.
Speaker 3 (24:10):
I forgot I do.
Speaker 2 (24:11):
Yeah, something you do, And that's what this guy was doing.
Speaker 4 (24:14):
He would do it for twenty four hours straight.
Speaker 2 (24:18):
No, the Earl of Sandwich was a extreme gambler. And
because he was gambled, so he fell us a bit
less than just put me in between two pieces of
bread so I can gamble with one hand. I don't
know why gamble with one hand and eat with the other.
And that's how the sandwich was born. It was it
was a gambling problem.
Speaker 3 (24:40):
Is to cut a steak at the crabs table? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (24:43):
I didn't say what kind of gambler he was that
he needed two hands.
Speaker 4 (24:46):
Why do you need two hands? Oh, if you're playing cards?
Speaker 3 (24:48):
Cards?
Speaker 1 (24:49):
He was playing cards?
Speaker 2 (24:49):
Yeah, yeah, so he could he could eat a sandwich
in one hand and still play cards with the other,
and he would go on twenty four hour binges of gambling.
Speaker 4 (24:56):
Boy, he was addicted and.
Speaker 3 (24:57):
He played long card games. So he needed I needed
to do it without soiling the cards or interrupting the game.
Speaker 2 (25:04):
So you put the meat in between the bread and
I'll eat it all at once.
Speaker 4 (25:08):
And they were like, that's a pretty good, a pretty
good gimmicked there.
Speaker 3 (25:10):
We thought it was a chef.
Speaker 4 (25:11):
No, it was a degenerate.
Speaker 2 (25:15):
Sandwich, probably an alcoholic more than likely. And I just
I would I wonder wear that first sandwich. What kind
of meat he had in there, the very first sandwich?
Speaker 1 (25:27):
Ham? It had to be something that's uh, because this
is back in the.
Speaker 2 (25:31):
This was yeah, what year was this hold on? So
it had to be some earl of sandwich.
Speaker 3 (25:35):
Heard meat was seventeen sixties. I'll be there, salted beef
between two slices of toasted bread. That's all it is,
salted beef.
Speaker 2 (25:44):
Yeah, Okay, they had not admitted mayonnaise yet, have they
They had not somebody well, I don't know, like mustard
had to have been invented by then.
Speaker 4 (25:57):
It was mustard and.
Speaker 2 (25:58):
Mayonnaise and all this invented after the sand because it
needed something on a say okay.
Speaker 3 (26:01):
Interestingly, mayo was invented before the sandwich. Mayonnaise was invented
in seventeen fifty six a French chef.
Speaker 4 (26:08):
So what would you do with mayo before the sandwich?
Speaker 1 (26:12):
I'm sure, they use it up and recipes and stuff.
Speaker 4 (26:15):
Yeah, dipping sauce.
Speaker 3 (26:16):
It was a cream sauce that it would use instead
of egg oil and vinegar. And it was called mehonaisehon Yeah,
by the Duke of Russia.
Speaker 1 (26:27):
Yeah, I bet you if you had some authentic mayonnaise
like made the way that he's talking to it doesn't
like it's nowhere near what we think of mayonnaise today.
Speaker 3 (26:35):
What do you think is older mayonnaise or mustard?
Speaker 1 (26:37):
Mustard?
Speaker 3 (26:38):
Mustard by how much?
Speaker 4 (26:39):
By two hundred years, one thousand.
Speaker 3 (26:41):
Years, by three thousand years? Damn mustard mustard around since
three thousand BCE.
Speaker 2 (26:48):
Okay, so what do you think the Earl of Sandwich
put on his sandwich first?
Speaker 4 (26:52):
May's or mustard?
Speaker 1 (26:53):
Well, that degenerate was just gambling, so he took out
How they gave it to him, they didn't know, they
didn't know that to put some first. I say it.
Speaker 2 (26:59):
At some point he's like, hey, I haven't been in
something here we're calling call this.
Speaker 1 (27:02):
I think he just he just credit for the sandwich.
And I said, I don't know. I'd love to find
out who was the one that was like, hey, you
know this sandwich thing is cool, but let's put some
mayonnaise on it. I don't think he did it.
Speaker 2 (27:10):
You don't think so.
Speaker 4 (27:11):
No, at some point I bet he did.
Speaker 1 (27:13):
No, he was he used to gambling too much. He
didn't have time to think about that.
Speaker 3 (27:15):
However, not make the cards dirty. So if you put
sauces on there?
Speaker 4 (27:19):
Which how long Catchup been around?
Speaker 1 (27:22):
Uh?
Speaker 3 (27:22):
Fifty seven years?
Speaker 1 (27:26):
Uh?
Speaker 3 (27:26):
See ket up invented? Tell me google three hundred BC.
Speaker 4 (27:31):
Oh wow, so Catchup been around longer than mustard.
Speaker 3 (27:34):
Yeah, but they didn't get really really popular until around
the eighteen hundreds.
Speaker 2 (27:39):
You know, they're saying, thanks to this guy, this the
Earl of Sandwich. Thanks to him, the beloved sandwich was born.
I bet you somebody else did it who just wasn't famous.
Someone else had it.
Speaker 1 (27:49):
Just put sure as a.
Speaker 3 (27:50):
Poor guy, for sure, that just meeting two pieces of bread.
Speaker 2 (27:53):
And he's like, man, he'll never be remembered, nobody'll ever know.
He's not the Earl of Sandwich, not eating the Jeff,
poor Jeff. He's in some alley somewhere and he throwed
it all together. And he could have been the guy
I remember, But no, John Montague Montague, how do you
say at Montague montagun month Ago m o nta gu Montague.
(28:20):
John Montague, the Earl of Sandwich, gets all the credit
for the rest of eternity.
Speaker 1 (28:25):
So here's the thing. Mayonnaise russ was considered a rich
person's fancy sauce. Really yeah, So it wasn't until in
the United States, commercial production in the early twentieth century
made mayonnaise a common, affordable staple. Richard Howan began selling
jars mayonnaise and New York delis in nineteen twelve, where
it was used as a binder for salads and then
spread on sandwiches. So you know, mayonnaise is invented in
(28:49):
seventeen fifty fifty six in Spain, popularities in France, and
it wasn't until nineteen twelve. That's some guy in the
back of there that was like, hey, we should put
this on a sandwich.
Speaker 2 (28:58):
When I wanted to be fancy, I put miracle whip
on my sandwich. I'm telling you right now, miracle web,
you laugh all you want, man, that's some good stuff.
Speaker 1 (29:05):
I haven't had it. A matter of fact.
Speaker 2 (29:06):
On the way home, I'm gonna stop and get miracle
whip and make my own sandwich.
Speaker 1 (29:10):
For dinner tonight. That's dinner. But is a miracle whip
not mayonnaise. It's a spread. It's some sort of a
fancy just good. I like miracle whip man.
Speaker 2 (29:19):
People people laugh at it, but you know what, have
you had miracle whip Ryan?
Speaker 3 (29:23):
Hell no, you've never had it. I had it once
as a child. It was discussed.
Speaker 2 (29:27):
It's amazing. Oh my god, miracle whip is the deal.
If I had, I'd wear a miracle whip T shirt.
Speaker 1 (29:33):
You know what I don't.
Speaker 3 (29:35):
Fun fact, So there's still an Earl of Sandwich right
like so that he was the.
Speaker 1 (29:39):
Fourth, it's a title that's passed on.
Speaker 3 (29:40):
Yeah, he was the fourth Earl of Sandwich. Currently we're
on the twelfth Earl of sand.
Speaker 1 (29:44):
Does he looked like imagine fat? I think he's a
fat guy. Me a pickure.
Speaker 4 (29:51):
Yeah, find the current.
Speaker 1 (29:52):
Earl and what do you have to do to get
the title? Can you?
Speaker 3 (29:55):
You gotta be born into.
Speaker 2 (29:57):
The Duke of royalty With that one, that one, prince,
it gave way like you're like, you're no longer up friends, nothing,
You're nothing. You're listen, we know you banged her. Stopped
acting like you didn't.
Speaker 3 (30:09):
Yeah, they took it.
Speaker 1 (30:10):
They took his military title to current.
Speaker 4 (30:13):
He's a goof.
Speaker 1 (30:16):
Oh but look at his but look at his home, Dude,
the Earl of Sandwich. Pay good, look at that he.
Speaker 2 (30:23):
Does well, he's got a damn that's a that's a palace.
Speaker 3 (30:26):
Yeah, I guess he's complaining that he's the Earl of
Sandwich in this article he couldn't get out of inheriting
his nineteen hundred acre county. There's a lot of these earls,
these dude conduct duchesses and earls that titles are passed on.
They're like kind of poor.
Speaker 4 (30:38):
And all the taxes they can't afford it.
Speaker 3 (30:40):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, but they're super weird people.
Speaker 2 (30:43):
All because they're all in bred. That's why.
Speaker 3 (30:46):
I mean, this guy has the most British face ever.
Speaker 4 (30:48):
Yeah, that's super British face.
Speaker 3 (30:51):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (30:51):
I would lean into it, man, if you're the Earl
of Sandwich, I'd have ye.
Speaker 1 (30:54):
He's not getting much proper he's not getting the proper endorsements. Dude,
Like absolutely, Russ, you're right into it. Make get commercials
with it. That helps you pay for the taxes Sandwich had,
you know.
Speaker 3 (31:05):
Merchandise, merchandise coat of Arms should have a sandwich on it,
I would changing.
Speaker 1 (31:11):
Yeah, even can't eat you got to put you can
eat or whatever? Or what a proper what's a proper
British sandwich?
Speaker 3 (31:21):
I don't know, probably boiled proper British sandwich.
Speaker 1 (31:25):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (31:26):
I didn't have a sandwich when I went there.
Speaker 3 (31:28):
Let's see British sandwich. What is a classic? Just ham
and mustard, ham and cheese?
Speaker 4 (31:33):
Is ham?
Speaker 1 (31:33):
No?
Speaker 3 (31:34):
Is it?
Speaker 1 (31:34):
Really? Yeah? There's a restoring food.
Speaker 2 (31:37):
There is a restaurant Disney Springs called Earl of Sandwich,
So I wonder if he makes any of that Earl
of Sandwich money.
Speaker 1 (31:43):
No, no way.
Speaker 3 (31:45):
Yeah. They eat cheese sandwiches in Britain. Yeah, that's weird.
Speaker 4 (31:48):
Nobody wants it.
Speaker 3 (31:49):
Cheese sandwiches going around having a grilled cheese in the
middle of a Tuesday.
Speaker 1 (31:53):
No. I like grilled cheese, but just like just cheese.
That's boring.
Speaker 2 (31:57):
You've got grilled cheese. Gotta have tomato soup. We got
all right, morbig dumb fun. When we come back. You're
listening to the Max in the morning. Hey, shout out
to uh our buddy mar Lisa Goldsmith, who is with
me on the I'm with her, sheean with me. I'm
with her on the four oh seven on Fox thirty five.
Speaker 3 (32:20):
Are yours show? Now?
Speaker 2 (32:21):
I know I tend to do that. Stops, shame on you, Russ. Yeah,
it's mar Lisa's show. I'm just a guest, and I'll
be a guest today and on Thursday, I believe.
Speaker 1 (32:31):
Yeah, yeah, so this week.
Speaker 2 (32:33):
But she just sent me a text because now y'all
got me looking up all things Mayo and Miracle Whip
to try to find the difference between Mayo and Miracle Whip. Uh.
Speaker 4 (32:40):
And when you look it.
Speaker 2 (32:41):
Up, it says that Mayo is more fat and creamier,
richer with flavor. Miracle Whip is lighter and tangier with it.
It's a sweet condiment with less fat.
Speaker 3 (32:51):
Yeah, it's more sugar in it. Right, that's like a ton,
isn't there like a ton of sugar and Mark Whip.
Speaker 4 (32:56):
I never looked. I don't know. I just know I
like it. I do like it. Hey, this is a
this is kind of a fun thing. They do it
for a week.
Speaker 2 (33:02):
It's the ten things that happened ten years ago, and
some of this stuff. He's like, man, that was that
was ten years and some of this I don't remember,
and some like do. So I'm gonna see if you
guys remember any of this. The Starbucks red cup outrage.
Speaker 3 (33:16):
Oh and it's a Christmas off the goddamn cup.
Speaker 2 (33:20):
So yeah, I guess that was a big deal. People
got all upset because they.
Speaker 3 (33:24):
Went holiday cup.
Speaker 2 (33:25):
They went from a red like a white cup that
they have, they went to a red cup, call it
a holiday cup. And people got upset about that. Why
were they.
Speaker 3 (33:32):
Man, because they took they made it not a Christmas cup.
I think they just put like snowflakes on it or something.
Speaker 1 (33:37):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (33:38):
Yeah, Critics said the coffee cup version was like saying
Happy Holidays instead of Merry Christmas.
Speaker 3 (33:43):
Oh no, it was just okay, it was just a
red cup. Oh so instead of like putting a little
like snowflakes and everything else on it, they went standard
red red cup.
Speaker 1 (33:53):
People got upset by that.
Speaker 2 (33:54):
Okay, it says ten years ago the National Wildlife Federation
and informed people that you're supposed to just let your
leaves fall, And here we are in fall, right leaves
fall and not rake them up because it's shelter and
food and nesting for.
Speaker 4 (34:13):
All the critters and animals.
Speaker 1 (34:15):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (34:15):
And it was a big push to tell people not
to rake their leaves. I don't remember this at all.
Speaker 1 (34:21):
They failed.
Speaker 4 (34:23):
I mean you haven't. Oh I had one yard. Where
was that yard?
Speaker 2 (34:27):
I had a yard where I had to rake all
the time, and I hate never Ryan No.
Speaker 1 (34:32):
Oh dude, that's one of the trade. There was a
couple of places that we lived in that because of
all the trees and that. Again, this is.
Speaker 3 (34:39):
A core core memory.
Speaker 1 (34:41):
Building the giant piles of leaves and then diving into them. Yeah,
the kid.
Speaker 2 (34:47):
There's a tradition I saw this on the news heredy
where this guy does it every year and he gets
all the leaves up and then he's got two dogs
and the dogs get all excited to run out and
just jump into the leaves.
Speaker 1 (34:57):
Yeah, we would do that. I remember that was like
so much.
Speaker 2 (35:00):
Ten years ago today, a plane was diverted due to flatulence.
Speaker 4 (35:07):
I guess it was a plane crew members.
Speaker 1 (35:11):
Uh, oh, well they have okay, well they had two thousand.
Speaker 2 (35:15):
All in a pounds, right. It was sheep and the
sheep started to rip it let it rip, and it
set off the gas alarm, so the plane had to
go back.
Speaker 3 (35:25):
Man, Okay.
Speaker 4 (35:26):
Ten years ago today.
Speaker 2 (35:27):
Who do you think ten years ago today Forbes magazine
set was the most highest paid woman in music ten
years ago today.
Speaker 3 (35:36):
Ten years ago today. Let's see, that's pretty sure. Taylor Swift. Oh,
that was her friend that she was fighting with at
the time. It's gonna be a Katy Perry very nice.
Speaker 1 (35:47):
Look at you.
Speaker 2 (35:48):
Katy Perry was earning one and thirty five million dollars
ten years ago and Taylor Swift was in second place
eighty million dollars.
Speaker 3 (35:57):
Yeah, that's when they were having their feud.
Speaker 4 (35:59):
Yeah, that that's when they had the.
Speaker 3 (36:01):
Had Look what you made me do? And then Katy
Perry's song was Swish Swish bitch.
Speaker 4 (36:07):
Do they still not like each other?
Speaker 3 (36:08):
Still not fans of each other?
Speaker 1 (36:09):
No?
Speaker 3 (36:10):
Now she's in Katy Perry's now with the former prime
minister of Canada.
Speaker 2 (36:14):
Yeah, she's with that that Trudeau dude, right, yeah, and
uh yeah, I mean she was super She just split
up with Orlando Bloom and right over to the the
you know, the former what was he like, the Canadian
prime minister, prime minister.
Speaker 3 (36:30):
Right, which is like their president.
Speaker 4 (36:32):
Yeah, yeah, so he he cleaned up.
Speaker 2 (36:35):
Uh and then ten years ago today, the Dictionary said
this is the word of the year. It was a
new word ten years ago. Today it's a it's got
a hyphen in the middle. It's two words, actually, but
they call it they said it was one word. It
was a brand new thing. What do you think, angel
ten years ago today a new term that we now
(36:55):
is just nothing to us. We're like, oh, yeah, we're
hearing that all the time.
Speaker 1 (36:58):
It has a hyphen, that's the Yeah, I can't think
of anything off the top of my head.
Speaker 4 (37:04):
Yeah, it's a hard one. You want to try. It
was new, it was a new term ten years ago.
Speaker 3 (37:09):
Thanks Obama.
Speaker 4 (37:11):
No no, no, no, no.
Speaker 2 (37:13):
Binge watch. Binge watch is only ten years old.
Speaker 3 (37:17):
Was longer than that. I feel like I've been saying
binge watch for love.
Speaker 1 (37:20):
But we didn't know. Yeah, that's that sounds all right, right,
because that's when ten years ago, as when streaming comes around,
and then you know when the pandemic hit is really
when it binge watching really took off.
Speaker 2 (37:30):
Do you remember the first thing you ever binge watched?
Because I remember the first thing I binge watched, and
it wasn't on television, it was it was I had
to buy all the all the DVDs. The first thing
I ever binge watched to get caught up was The Sopranos.
That was the first time I ever did that where
I'm watching an episode after episode after episode, And that
was way before ten years ago that, you know, but
there was.
Speaker 1 (37:49):
No term for it then.
Speaker 3 (37:50):
Mom was breaking bad, breaking bad.
Speaker 2 (37:52):
Okay, yeah, I said that year that the binge watch
was put in the dictionary. Making a Murderer was the
big binge watch of the I remember.
Speaker 1 (38:01):
What was that. I remember that documentary. Remember that was
the guy at the junk yard?
Speaker 3 (38:05):
What were they held out on a lot of information?
That's why don't trust Netflix's documentaries anymore.
Speaker 1 (38:10):
But who was the murderer?
Speaker 3 (38:11):
It was like a little short guy, blonde guy, and
then he supposedly burned the body in a barrel of
his like at a like where they put old cars.
Speaker 4 (38:21):
I don't remember this, no, I was.
Speaker 3 (38:23):
It was a huge deal. But it turns out they
left so much information out. The documentary made it seem
like he was innocent. But if you go through the
actual oh yes, court records.
Speaker 2 (38:31):
I do remember this. I remember going, oh my god,
the guy didn't do it. But yeah, you go to
the court records, he definitely did it.
Speaker 4 (38:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (38:38):
Yeah, So I don't trust you Netflix, not ever. But yeah,
so binge watchings not that old. Yeah, because breaking bad.
Speaker 1 (38:45):
Why you didn't trust him for what? Because you thought
he was innocent?
Speaker 3 (38:48):
Because I watched that documentary and I was like, oh man,
how could they keep this innocent guy in jail? And
then I googled more and I was like, oh, this
guy definitely did it.
Speaker 2 (38:57):
So ten years from now, what will people it be like, oh,
ten years ago, like the East Wing or the White
House was torn down, or like, what will be the
thing that will be like, Oh, I can't I can't
believe it's.
Speaker 3 (39:09):
Been ten years open carrying the public's.
Speaker 4 (39:14):
Okay, all right, Uh.
Speaker 3 (39:16):
Yeah, there's been so much is a.
Speaker 1 (39:19):
Big deal, dude.
Speaker 3 (39:21):
This is one of many big, exhausting years. It is.
Speaker 2 (39:25):
There's something new and crazy every day. All right, Well,
take a little break. When we come back, it's time
for our Nerdy News with Ryan Holmes, Our King Nerd.
Don't go anywhere you're listening to the Match of the morning.
Speaker 1 (39:35):
No, King's
