Speaker 3 (00:15):
What's up?
Speaker 2 (00:15):
Booker and Striker. Thanks for talking about the fires and
the Palisades. I work in the village out of school.
We had a very chaotic evacuation this morning with lots
of scared kids. I am safely back in my home now. Yeah,
the fires, the fire that's happening in Pacific Palisades, it
is scary, it is terrible. As we mentioned at the
top of the show, people just left their cars where
(00:37):
they were trying to evacuate a combination of fire, smoking,
traffic and people were gone. So thank you to the firefighters,
and we wish the best for everybody in the Palisades,
in that community if they.
Speaker 1 (00:47):
Stay alert, stay alert, if you're anywhere near that.
Speaker 2 (00:51):
We're going to segue to this.
Speaker 1 (00:52):
Look at this, by the way, look at the shot
right now.
Speaker 3 (00:55):
Oh my gosh, just.
Speaker 1 (00:57):
Fire creeping up the side of a hill next to
the house. I mean, it is on houses I.
Speaker 2 (01:02):
Live in the Hollywood area, and I could see the
smoke all the way in the Palisades this morning, and
it was so thick that I thought the fire was
somewhere in your Los Yannica in Sunset Boulevard. Wow, that's
how much smoke there was. The Lumineers are playing this
weekend at Alter Ego. It's our big music festival, and
the guys from Lumineers put up another tease today with
(01:25):
a clip of their new song, which is called so Os,
and here's a little taste of it.
Speaker 1 (01:42):
Hey moment, would you pay my man?
Speaker 3 (01:44):
Would you let me question your basement? Because any one
of us can make it big, a good end up
on the pavement. And if I was to die, pretty
good playing one down and you.
Speaker 2 (02:00):
Very nice, same old song, Sos. It'll world premiere tonight
at nine pm on ALL ninety eight seven, and then
hopefully they're gonna play it Saturday at the Form.
Speaker 1 (02:09):
There you go. I just text Wesley. We talked the
lead singer of that Fan. We talk a lot of football,
That's what we usually go back and forth about. He's
a huge giant fan. He sent me the entire album
I can't wait to take and listen to that tonight
and report back to you tomorrow. And that one very
and I was looking forward to the seeing the guys
this weekend post malone.
Speaker 2 (02:27):
You may have heard about this when I want to
give him some love. On Christmas Eve, he was at
a bar with He was at a bar with a
couple of friends, and he was there till two am,
And when it was time to leave, he asked the server,
where's the bill, and she told him, oh, your friend's
already paid. He said, I want to leave a tip.
She's like, well, I can't. You can't just leave a
tip by I need to charge you for something. He's like,
(02:48):
just charge me a dollar for something, just so I
can leave you a tip. He left a tip of
twenty thousand dollars for this woman working on Christmas Eve.
He's not with her daughter.
Speaker 1 (02:59):
He is the man. I love that guy.
Speaker 2 (03:01):
Pretty nice right there.
Speaker 1 (03:02):
I love this song Circles.
Speaker 2 (03:04):
The Lakers are in Dallas, the Ducks are home. Tonight,
UCLA Men's Hoops plays Michigan. I'm striker. That's all I got.
Speaker 1 (03:10):
I don't want to hear more of this, or you
want to hear Frey how to save a light?
Speaker 2 (03:14):
News that doesn't matter. What if it matters?
Speaker 1 (03:17):
All right?
Speaker 3 (03:18):
Well this.
Speaker 1 (03:20):
Booker and Striker, Booker and Striker, you got us on
all ninety eight seven on the radio, and of course
on the new and improved iHeartRadio.
Speaker 2 (03:28):
Booker, I'm gonna I want to play a guessing game
with you, and if you're in your car, you can
guess along as well. So this is the second day
in a row. I've done an Albuquerque story. But a
guy was driving through the ABQ and he had his
U haul broken into and unfortunately, fifty thousand dollars worth
of memorabilia from one particular band was stolen out of
(03:49):
his U haul. And now this guy is saying, if
anyone sees it a pawnshop this band, or someone is
selling something online for this band, it's probably my stuff.
So I want you to see if you can guess
the band. Listen, it's I bet you can get it.
Just give me some rapid fire questions, buddy.
Speaker 1 (04:09):
Okay, questions. Is it a grunge band?
Speaker 2 (04:11):
Ah, it's not grunge, but they first appeared during the
grunge movement, and they're definitely hard new hard rock, but
I'm not gonna call them hard rock. They're a different genre.
Speaker 1 (04:23):
During that genre, just ask questions. You got this all right?
Well the grunge was it led by a male? Yes
sir band from America? Yes, sir band from California.
Speaker 3 (04:35):
No sir.
Speaker 1 (04:37):
Band from Seattle, No sir.
Speaker 2 (04:39):
Okay band from the East Coast, No sir, harder band,
hard band?
Speaker 1 (04:47):
Godsmack?
Speaker 2 (04:48):
Not Godsmack?
Speaker 1 (04:49):
Am I in the right viscina?
Speaker 2 (04:50):
No, sir, you are not.
Speaker 1 (04:51):
So It's not like Papa Roach or Disturbed or anybody
like that. No, it's more of a heritage type pearl
jam rock band.
Speaker 2 (04:59):
No. I will say this singer is the most famous
person in the band by far right.
Speaker 1 (05:03):
Out Chili Peppers. No sir, California, you got flea? Come on, yeah, sting.
Speaker 2 (05:13):
Listen. I'm gonna put an ad on craiglist right now
for a new co host if anybody is out there.
Speaker 1 (05:17):
I don't know. Is it guns n' Roses?
Speaker 2 (05:21):
It's not guns n' Roses. But I would say Slash
is just as famous as Axel Road, Trueils, Rebellion, n
This guy has been a collector from the very beginning,
and he had it all in his uhul, and I
think he was ready to start selling all this stuff
(05:41):
fifty K and now it's gone. Wow, sleeping at hotel
on the side of the road. Man, feel bad for him.
That stinks, doesn't it?
Speaker 1 (05:50):
Fifty dollars of nine inch nails junk.
Speaker 2 (05:53):
Just just think how much by storage Locker is worth.
I mean, speaking of Papa Roach. I got this platinum
record for sale.
Speaker 1 (06:00):
Anybody wants it.
Speaker 2 (06:01):
My name is on it.
Speaker 1 (06:02):
You know what I'm thinking. What I'm thinking. This guy
is hurt. Nothing really, Booker.
Speaker 2 (06:10):
We're in this together now, you and me.
Speaker 1 (06:12):
Okay, that wasn't my worst joke.
Speaker 2 (06:17):
Six the worst. I give you credit for the attempt.
Speaker 1 (06:20):
Top ten. It's Booker and Striker, Booker and Striker n
Booker and Striker Liquid Park on a ninety eight seven
some tickets to go to our alter ego concert that
is this weekend Incubus, the Lumineers, Cage, the Elephant, the Office,
Springing More and some alter ego music. After Striker tells
(06:40):
you everything happening in the world.
Speaker 2 (06:42):
The Pacific Palisades fire is now burned more than seven
hundred and seventy acres. As I'm looking at video right
now and the TV to my right, Booker sits right
in front of me. It is a terrible sight. We
wish everybody the best in the Palisades of those fighting
the fire as well on the ground and in the air.
If you're just tuning in or having seen footage, one
of the scenes was people just people were trying to evacuate.
(07:04):
They were ordered you have to get out. So twenty
thousand residents in the Palisades area trying to get out
at the same time, whether it's the Highlands, Sun Said boulevard.
A lot of them just had to leave their car
and make a run for it. Well, then fire engines
and first responders needed to get through, so they had
a couple of bulldozers that were pushing the cars out
of the street up on the sidewalks.
Speaker 1 (07:26):
So fire trucks could get to the scenes. Right, I
see the governor is there. Now he's on the scene. Wow. Okay,
we'll keep an eye on it.
Speaker 2 (07:33):
Definitely. We're gonna switch gears to this now Beach Life Festival.
There you go, booker Lenny crap. So it's a three
day event. May two, three, and four, twenty twenty five
were Dondo Beach. It's from all ninety eight to seven.
Lenny kravited Lenny Night one, Train is playing Night one,
Alo Black, Diggable, Planets, Night two, Sublime, The Pretenders, Cake
(07:55):
and more. Hey Sugar Ray, Shout out Sugar Ray. Nice
Night three, Elanis Morisset, mount Joy, Jackson Brown.
Speaker 1 (08:02):
The Beach Boys and more.
Speaker 2 (08:04):
Huh three Day Festival, May two through four. This sounds good.
Speaker 1 (08:10):
It's hurt us that name?
Speaker 2 (08:13):
All right?
Speaker 1 (08:13):
What else you got?
Speaker 2 (08:15):
I got the Lumineers, who excuse me? The Lumineers are
playing Saturday Alter Ego. A new song drops tonight at
nine o'clock and we will world premier it on out
ninety eight seven. Wesley from the Lumineers sent over a
clip of the song, and this is what it sounds like.
Speaker 1 (08:30):
Check this out. I like this.
Speaker 3 (08:32):
Hey Mama, would you pay my man? Would you let
me cushing your basement? Is any one of us can
make it big? A good end up dead on the pavement.
And if I was to die, if the plane went
down and use.
Speaker 1 (08:49):
He said, Striker, and I the entire album, if we
promise not to play it on the radio.
Speaker 2 (08:53):
That new song is called same old song, or they're
just gonna go by so os nice and just hearing
that fifteen a twenty five seconds. I really love the
tempo with that luminarly. You know the artist Joe who
has the song end of Beginning. Of course he's been
on with Booker and Strikers, the actor from Stranger Things.
End of Beginning, one of the biggest songs of twenty
(09:14):
twenty fourth. That question, So what Joe did? He wiped
his entire Instagram and now he is teasing a new
song called Basic Being Basic, which drops January twenty fourth.
Obviously twenty twenty five.
Speaker 1 (09:29):
Now we know people that have heard it. They said
it's a little bit more up tempo, and it's awesome, right,
Good for him. I mean, we don't meet too many
actors of his caliber around here. We get all the
musicians in the world, but he comes walking in as
a musician. Nicest guy in the world. Had some fun
with us on Instagram on the Booker and Striker Instagram
if you want to watch that. But what a nice guy.
Speaker 2 (09:51):
We're his first. By the way, we are responsible for
him losing his radio virginity. He had never been at
a radio station before and when he was and this
is a guy on movie sets on Stranger Things, and
he walked in here it was like, I've never seen
anyone that excited to be at a radio station. I'm
not even that excited. He was like, what does that
(10:12):
button do? What does that do? And I was explaining things.
Speaker 1 (10:14):
I think he was genuinely. I think he genuinely had
a good time with you and me, like just kind
of hanging out and having fun and experiencing what a
radio station is all about. We had a lot of
fun with that guy.
Speaker 2 (10:26):
We definitely did again. Joe Keery there. It is also
a musician. Lakers are in Dallas, the Ducks are home tonight.
Doug UCLA plays Michigan in basketball. That'll be a good game.
What Striker? That that's all I got.
Speaker 1 (10:39):
Okay, We've got those Alter Ego tickets coming up. And
as promised, one of the bands playing this Saturday Night
at the Forum aged the Elephant on All ninety h seven.
Speaker 2 (10:48):
Booker and Striker ninety eight seven.
Speaker 1 (10:51):
Booker named Striker on All Night.
Speaker 2 (10:52):
Ehseeven They were at Alter Ego last year. This year's
show is Saturday Booker and I are giving you tickets
within two to five minutes.
Speaker 1 (11:00):
Hang on for those so when you see and I
don't want to make light of a very dangerous situation,
the fires and such palisades. Yeah, but in my mind,
and I think a lot of people, a lot of
dumb guys like me, and maybe you, probably not you,
I don't think you would try to do this. But
in my mind, I'm always thinking, Hey, one of them
fires ever comes my way, I'm gonna get my hose
(11:20):
out and I'm gonna be the yahoo's standing on my
roof and I'm gonna be able to put this out.
And then when you look at something like this, you're like, no,
I'm just gonna get the hell out of there. Exactly
the right thing to do.
Speaker 2 (11:30):
But because this is the proof that mother Nature, for
the most part, cannot be beat unless you have a
team of fire fighters on the ground and in the
air who are much braver than most people and are
doing things that we can't do. Right, But I was
thinking about that. I live in the hills and there's
a lot of brush around me. Sure, and if there
(11:51):
is an ember, if there is a fire two miles
away and things flew in the air, I mean my
house could be in danger. Yours could. Looking at the
scene in Palisades, anybody better where you live, you're in danger.
Speaker 1 (12:01):
Yeah, I'm just thinking of this. I'm in Tarzana. If
you line up Tarzana with the Palisades, I'm sure that's
just the hill. You know, it's just the hill. It's
right there. So it's scary. You don't know which direction
this wind's gonna blow, and that's what's gonna.
Speaker 2 (12:15):
You don't know which direction it's it's gonna end up.
And speaking of fires and being very prepared, if there
was a fire and I was at home and the
authority said you have to get out of here, you're
seriously you have to go. I hate saying this because
I'm prepared. In most of my life, I don't really
have like, oh, let me grab this drawer of files
(12:37):
or pictures or whatever it is. Do you have something
like a closet where you just you grab one thing
and you're gonna feel good about it.
Speaker 1 (12:44):
I have five animals living with me. Wrangling them would
probably be my only concern. Like if I had to
think of what's one thing I would even grab. Maybe
I don't know the file with my birth certificate in it.
Speaker 2 (12:58):
But even if you forgot that, there are ways to
get another original burth certificate here. Yeah, true, I mean
because I'm thinking again, I'm not making light of anything.
But you know how I move around, I am I
move fast, but sometimes I grab things that aren't necessary.
I feel like one of the first things I would
get was my favorite pill up and throw it. And
(13:19):
it took me to find that pillar.
Speaker 1 (13:21):
You would get his favorite mirror.
Speaker 2 (13:24):
I would get my selfie light by where's my ring lights?
Where's my papa roach flack?
Speaker 1 (13:30):
The Papa roach flack. I needed see.
Speaker 2 (13:32):
Bad things become infamous. Man, it's booker and striker, Booker
and striker.
Speaker 1 (13:39):
It is striker with everything happening in the world.
Speaker 2 (13:41):
We discussed it yesterday. This is the most significant windstorm
in ten years. Really, that's the quote. Yep. So the
fire and Pacific Palisades now is over twelve hundred and
sixty acres. Structures have been damaged. There's firefighters, of course,
on the ground in the air. Twenty thousand residents have
been told to evacuate. Many cars were just left in
(14:02):
the middle of the road and people just left their cars.
Then bulldozers had to come and remove those cars out
of the street, push them onto the sidewalks so the
firefighters could get through.
Speaker 1 (14:12):
They say this wind will dissipate later tonight, like late
tonight early tomorrow morning. It's a red flag warning, so
this could get chaotic for the next ten hours or so.
So we're gonna keep an eye on this for sure.
And it's really the Governor's there everybody. It's a very
tragic situation. I'm from back East and I can't tell
you how many people on just my phone people are like,
(14:35):
is everything okay? Is everything okay? I'm like, not really,
but with us, yes, I'm safe. But everyone else we
don't know.
Speaker 2 (14:42):
It's definitely a national story. We'll segue to this now.
CEES has started in Las Vegas. That's the Consumer Electronics Show.
There's hundreds, if not thousands of different gadgets and techs
and what your tech and what you're gonna see in
the future, nerds. I've chosen three products that I want
to throw your way. Tell me if you're interested in
any of these. These are at the Consumer Electronics Show.
(15:05):
One electronic roller blades. You control the speed of your
roller blades with the remote control and the maximum speed
that you can go with the roller blades eighteen miles
per hour.
Speaker 1 (15:20):
Ah, I gonna pass.
Speaker 2 (15:22):
What else you got an electric saltspoon. This is a
spoon that makes the food you're eating taste saltier than
it actually is. I like that created in Japan. It's
not on the market yet, but it will be shortly. Again,
the electric saltspoon interesting. And just by the way, your
(15:44):
boy Striker here has gone through ten thousand products to
bring three to the air. Next up, Booker, he stayed
up all night. It's a robot that blows on your drink. Tough.
It's a robot that blows on your drink to cool
it down. So imagine you got your morning coffee or
(16:07):
you're not feeling well, you got the Matza ball soup
from Canner's Deli. You don't need to do the blowing.
Let your robot blow it.
Speaker 1 (16:14):
Hey, soup, how you doing?
Speaker 2 (16:16):
What do you think of this product?
Speaker 1 (16:19):
I think I'm okay blowing on my own soup. I
think I'm fine with.
Speaker 2 (16:23):
That's why you never leave home. Gerard Way from My
Chemical Romance just got a.
Speaker 1 (16:27):
Voiceover kick fine.
Speaker 2 (16:28):
He is going to be voicing a Dungeons and Dragons
pinball machine. This guy, Gerard Way is a great frontman, rioter,
television producer, creator, comic book guy voiceover artist. You know,
speaking of important consistent talents, put Gerard Way in there
as well. This guy's awesome.
Speaker 1 (16:47):
Fine, he's in there to see a march. Are you
ruining this song for us?
Speaker 2 (16:53):
He said, Sun, when you grow up, throw up us.
She got last story here, and this is a good one.
On Christmas Eve, post Malone was in a bar with
some friends and he was there till two in the morning,
and he went to the restroom, came back and said,
where's the bill? They said was already taken care of.
(17:14):
And he said to the server, just charge me for
anything so I can leave you a better tip than
we already left you, even though it was already a
very nice tip. He tipped the waitress at the Houston
bar twenty thousand dollars.
Speaker 1 (17:27):
She worked on Christmas Eve. Correct, And I understand she
had a family too, a daughter that she was away
from on Christmas Eve. Correct. Look at post Malone saving
the day. What a sweet guy.
Speaker 2 (17:36):
When I was I'm striker.
Speaker 1 (17:39):
That's all I got. I'm thinking about getting a face tattooed,
maybe two or three.
Speaker 2 (17:43):
That's all I got.
Speaker 1 (17:46):
