Smart cities have long been touted as the solution to managing the explosive growth in cities, making services and infrastructure more accessible and convenient to all. But for smart cities to work, vast amounts of data are prerequisites. That automatically brings into question citizen personal data and where a city, or enterprise such as Apple, draws the line between data privacy rights and the collective wellbeing of the city.
