moved to two and one on theseason. All Right, Memorial and North
Memorial won the toss. They're gonnaelect to receive here. They'll be the
visiting team in this rivalry match uphere at Carson Park, the one time
every two years that they get thevisiting locker room. Of course, as
they switch it up. They'll bein the white uniforms tonight with the purple

numbers, purple helmets and the oldABE logo on the side. There the
North Tusky's wearing the Columbia blue uniforms, black pants, black helmets with the
Oak Claire North insignia on the side. We talked about Rob Scott. He's
in his third season as the OldAbes head coach, six and fourteen in
his time with Memorial. For oakClaire North, Matt Mike McGinnis is in
his second season and is three andeight, including that win last week against

Logan, again a fourteen game losingstreak for Oak Clare North against oaklare Memorial
and they break it tonight, thatis a question. The lights are already
on eighty three degrees and sunny.At game time, we'll have a little
bit of win. It should behelping the team moving right to left on
your radio dial tonight, just alittle bit might be kind of a diagonal
win, maybe a little bit ofa cross wind as well, but whoever's

for a second there, but hewas able to get right back on it

Lea's Oaklare Memorial and by my count, and ain't play. Fifty seven yard
drive that took just over three minutesand Oaklare North goes in. I'm pretty
impressive drive, dance, some goodpasses, some good runs. They mix
it up well. Look pretty goodfor the Huskies. Yeah, and that's
what we were kind of talking about, just the runs. Some really nice

runs by Camels at a twenty yardor a thirteen yarder, and then it
starts get a little bit quieter,but then they finally passed it to Jensen.
He's wide, just nice throwing theend zone kickoff goes to the far
side wiggle with the return a prettygood one out across the thirty and then
he's gang tackled here the thirty fouryard line there and much of the happiness
of Devin Andrew comes out of thepile first, pumping his chest for the

just to do the track down,the trackdown drill that everyone does when they're
in high school, the old theold tip drill there as it were,
and yeah, I mean the twodefenders back there and again he was Johnny

same idea that you know, maybeNorth was a little hard done by what
they thought was an interception earlier inthe drive. This one for sure,

a little pitch play at the endaround here to Johnson. Dravan Johnson will
get to the edge. There isa flag on the play though, so
one looks like it's coming back.It would have been about a thirteen yard
game, but Jeff Lenahan's bringing thisone back. Yeah. I think they
got him on a holding call herejust around the edge. Anytime you have
those edge rushes, especially in highschool football, you're almost kind of waiting

for the laundry to come out whenthey bounce out that with that much space
here, you hear it. Tenyard penalty from the spot of the foul
and the hold was called on nineas you Brady, pardon me, like,
get Brady Jensen on the edge thereat the tight end spot to hold.

So back to the ten yard lineit goes, and it'll be first
and twenty. And what a momentumkiller, by the way, finally getting
a finally getting their interception that theybelieved was there's on the previous possession,
now finally getting it here and immediatelyhave to go back ten yards. That
was it. Well, that wasa good play designer as well. I
mean that little pitch on the endaround and would have gone down I believe

officially as a pass with it.But nonetheless, you know trab and Johnson,
we talked about his speed in theopen. He's got that good speed
around the edge. Showed it therenow in the near hash mark. They
fling it out here near side catchmade for a couple of yards, but
not much else as Carter Burns comesdown with them. But they'll just a
little pop pass there and that waswell contained by Grant lock in a company.

Oh yeah, Memorial making sure thatthey're not getting away with any big
chunk plays here, especially in thepassing game. They know cam Olson's that
big man running right at the center, so they're gonna probably try and contain
him more, but also not letthem spread the ball like they did in
that last drive. Yeah, Ithink they're maybe kind of banking on the
idea that North isn't going to takea shot here right backed up in their

own end zone. They're trying toplay down on the receivers a little bit.
We'll see if that hurts them,If nor tries to take advantage mccracking
in the shotgun. One receiver left, two to the right, near hash
mark, left to right. Theygo four twenty eight left in the first
quarter six nothing old Claire North snaptaken. They faked the handoff on the
end around. Now it's Olsen runningright. They patient running there as he

lowers that shoulder up to the fifteenmaybe the sixteen yard line. We'll call
it again at three and it'll bethird and long, third about fourteen.
So North rattling off about three fouryards on the last two plays, but
now it's third and forever. Itseems like backed up in their own territory
and there was just nowhere for Olsento go there. It looked like the
lineman actually ran into him first beforethe defensive player, but just not a

great not great execution. It lookedlike they were just kind of jogging around
that outside too, no one reallygetting to their spots on time. Well,
they ran into the short side ofthe field two on the near hash
mark right. I mean, therewasn't that big open space that they could
run too. I think that waswhy Olson just couldn't find any holes there.
Like you said, he was lookingfor something to open it up,
and it never did. Mccracking inthe shotgun. He's got four receivers here.

Back to Passel fling it out toOlson out of backfield to the fifteen
to the twenty. He bulls overa defender up near the twenty three yard
line. Get some positive yardage here, probably about six maybe seven on the
play, not enough for the firstdown. It will be fourth and mid
range and north. We'll have topump this one off. And a great
tackle by Higden to just make surethat Olson doesn't break off a big,
huge chunk play like we saw earlierin the drive and we saw last game

two. There's a great leg tackleand made sure to contain him in that
open field, which is a lotmore difficult than people might people might think.
Tommy Perkins back to punt, standingat his own nine yard line,
back to return for memorial. Ibelieve that's Julius Clark who's back, because
we'll get rid of this one.It is a kind of wobbling spiral.
Clark up to the forty seven,his own forty seven receives it, avoids

a tackler, now avoids a secondand there he goes to the forty five
of the far sideline, makes amove at the forty and then he is
dragged down at the thirty nine yardline. That was a great open field
tackle by Oak Claire North's Clay Lozinski, and it really should have been stopped
earlier. Like at the fifty theyhad him wrapped up, but it was
an arm tackle. Again. Wesaw this last game against Logan a lot

of arm tackling resulting in bigger playsthan it should have been. So two
thirty eight mark is where we sithere in the first quarter, six to
nothing. Oaklare North with the LenaMemorial, but Memorials had some really good
field position here in this ball game. This one's starting at the thirty nine
yard. I remember their first drivestarted at the north forty seven, so

they've been in North territory a coupleof times, just haven't gotten any points
out of it. Last drive endedon an interception. Two receivers left one
right here for Holmberg and company.He'll give the hand off to Simmons up
the middle gut a huge told ofthe thirty to the twenty five, and
he's dragged down from the side onthe tackle here by Lindmann, but at
not after a massive gain up tothe twenty two yard line in the first

down. Seventeen yards on the play, and just that's what they need to
do here, especially because they're they'reexpecting them to pass. They need the
run game to take off in thisgame if they're gonna think they're gonna win.
Two receivers go right, one left, far hash mark, right to
left. They go to twelve leftto play in the first quarter, Memorial

with the ball six nothing north herein the Crosstown Showdown. Here's the handoff
to Simmons up the gut, looksleft. Now cuts it up the middle
upright, kind of between the hashmark. We'll get a defender to drag
him down up across the twenty tothe eighteen yard line. Gain a four
on the run, and I'll besecond and six here for Memorial and just
not a lot going there. TheI can't remember who it is on that

offensive line, but he pulled abit late trying to He moved over a
bit late, and it kind ofallowed the defensive nose tackle to just kind
of cut right through and just blowup the entire play. Still, Simmons

to pick off Memorial for the firsttime since two thousand and eight. We'll

talk plenty more about that throughout thissecond half. He Kadots and Danzons with
Yshansacabac in studio Dan that first half, Oaklare and North had the better drives,
more sustained drives. But I thinkthe thing that really stood out to
me from North from a defensive standpoint. I mentioned it near the end of
the half. On defense, especiallythe secondary, if they shut down the

passing game pretty well. For Memorial, they had guys just absolutely flying to
the ball in the secondary and thesafety spots in the corner positions. And
for Oaklare Memorial, their success onoffense, I thought came when it was
on the ground. They really didn'tdo a whole lot of through the air.
It was more Simmons on the ground. He was probably there their highlight.
Oh yeah, and North. Thatwas one of the things I was

looking for to see if Oak ClaireNorth was gonna do a change and focus
more on the passing side of theon their defensive intensity, and they did.
They did, they got to thequarterback, they didn't. They haven't
gotten a sack yet, but theyhave gotten some strong defensive pressure up front.
And then as you've said, especiallyGertz. Gertz has been flying around

the field. He almost had two. He almost had two picks there.
He probably should have had two picksif that other one wasn't reversed. However,
I'm not the referees, so I'mnot gonna I'm not gonna claim anything.
Yeah, he came up close andyou're right, I mean, there's
the other one there. You couldprobably say, yeah, you should have
had two more as well, missedone that kind of skipped off the ground

as well or got close to theground also. But yeah, I mean
the safeties were really good. Andas you look at the overall stats in
that first half, again, theguy that stands off the page for memorial
really to me was Simmons running theball. I thought he was pretty effective.
He's a pretty good counter to Olsenon the other side. Right,
both those running backs very very good, but Simmons having a little bit of
a breakout here. Just it feltlike like memory almost felt like they had

to be passing more so I guesswe're gonna get away from him. But
when Simmons was running well, thatwas probably the best their offense was.
Oh yeah, it gave them anotherlayer, another layer to their offense that
they don't usually have. As youcan tell from their first two games where
they threw for five hundred and sixtynine yards. They are trying to mix
it up a little bit and Simmonsis that big punch that needs to get

going, and he has been going, and he's been the reason they've been
able to sustain some drives. Buton the flip side, the passing game
has been the reason that they've turnedover the ball two times and almost a
third time here while there's only beenone really big chunk play and that was
from tay Ferguson on the sideline here. Yeah, you look at the two
scoring plays Oaklare North. Their firstdrive, starting at their own forty three

yard line, went eight plays fiftyseven yards. McCracken threw to his tight
end Jensen for a five yard touchdownpass made it six to nothing in favor
of North, and then North withfive thirty one left to go in the
second quarter, went on over afour minute drive that resulted in a one
yard touchdown run for ty Schoff wouldcome into the game four cam ols.
Remember Wilson again came out a littlebit near the end of the half.

We saw him limp off the fieldthis time last week it was heat exhaustion.
Hopefully that's not the problem he's experiencethis week and that he's able to

know Olson can run through some players, but you're not gonna be able to

I'm sure they want to give thisto Olson again, and they need the

like North was playing a little bitnot to lose. So what ends up
happening? Right, Memorial starts offat the at the fifty yard line to

start that fourth quarter. They wentwent four or five plays right down field,
a couple of passes Holmberg goes toClark for a nine yard touchdown pass
fourteen to seven. At that point, North gets the ball back at nine
fifty four. They don't give theball back. Nine minute, fifty four
second drive that ends on the twoyard line. They didn't need it to
be a touchdown. But how aboutthat, I mean, I mean defense

by the offense holding the ball.I mean a nine minute and fifty four
second drive. You don't see thatin high school football very often methodical.
They ran the clock they I meanyou even had Memorial burn all three time

didn't result in the touchdown, winsthe game for North here tonight. Oh
yeah. And they didn't need itto resolve in touchdown just because of how

up those first times. There werea few times where it was and we
saw this the last game too againstLogan, where it was like a third
and seven, fourth and eight andthey just converted. They were somehow able
to either find a point either aweek point in the linebackers or in the

secondary. As we watched the studentssection run out onto the field for oh
Claire North, they're happy. Butthe defense that we saw and the defense
that's being instilled on this program orthe coaching that's being instilled on this program
defensively has obviously made such a bigdifference because they didn't need an offense tonight.

They didn't have very much going forthem. Yeah. Really one bad
defensive drive, right was that firstdrive of the start of the fourth quarter,
as Memorials kind of picked him apart. But other than that, like
we said, the secondary really hawkedto the ball and in it it's a
little bit unbelievable, but a nineminute, fifty four second drive basically wins
you the game without scoring a touchdown. They just basically played keepaway for the

I felt like Memorial was on theway back. Right, North might

first quarter, got North up sixto nothing. They would miss the extra
point, but then later in thefirst half, with one minute in six

out on a long drive that startedat their own twenty two yard line,
went seventy eight yards and North wentin for the score, got the two
point with Schoff as well, fourteento nothing at that point. There's only
