Your home for the Huskies is ClassicRock ninety two one and welcome back,
Yeah and here to Carson Park aswe are set for football here between oak
Clare North and oak Claire Memorial,Peekaduts and Danzon's with you, Sean Soco
back in studio and you are listeningto it right here on Classic Rock ninety

(00:25):
two one FMWMQ, Menominee, OhClaire, Chipwa Falls Rock nine two one
dot com and iHeart Radio. Shouldbe a good one here tonight. You'll
hear the lineups announcer by David Smith, our PA announcer. But again,
as we get set for this matchup, we also want to tell you,
of course that with the Big RiversConference starting tonight, there are plenty of
other games to keep our eye onand we will certainly be doing that for

(00:48):
you throughout the night. Chipwa isat Hudson tonight. That should be a
real good matchup in the BRC.Superior at Monomenie, and we talked about
Menomonie with the two and on noneconference start have a good chance to go
to three and on the season. The start things out. River Falls is
at New Richmond tonight at the otherBRC contest, so we will try to
get you updates on those throughout ourcontest here. Tonight, regis a winner.

(01:10):
Yesterday they were Thursday Night game twentyto eight over Elk Mile and they
moved to two and one on theseason. All Right, Memorial and North
Memorial won the toss. They're gonnaelect to receive here. They'll be the
visiting team in this rivalry match uphere at Carson Park, the one time
every two years that they get thevisiting locker room. Of course, as
they switch it up. They'll bein the white uniforms tonight with the purple

(01:30):
numbers, purple helmets and the oldABE logo on the side. There the
North Tusky's wearing the Columbia blue uniforms, black pants, black helmets with the
Oak Claire North insignia on the side. We talked about Rob Scott. He's
in his third season as the OldAbes head coach, six and fourteen in
his time with Memorial. For oakClaire North, Matt Mike McGinnis is in
his second season and is three andeight, including that win last week against

(01:57):
Logan, again a fourteen game losingstreak for Oak Clare North against oaklare Memorial
and they break it tonight, thatis a question. The lights are already
on eighty three degrees and sunny. At game time, we'll have a little
bit of win. It should behelping the team moving right to left on
your radio dial tonight, just alittle bit might be kind of a diagonal
win, maybe a little bit ofa cross wind as well, but whoever's

(02:20):
moving right to left should have thewin sort of at their back, and
that will be Memorial here in thefirst quarter. All right, Dan,
early, things that you're looking forobviously, keeping those emotions in check.
That's gonna be big, isn't it. Oh yeah, definitely. You don't
want to get into a fist fightearly on here. I'll tell you that
much for free. But also,if you're a Memorial, you're gonna want
to shore up that defensive line. They allowed over four hundred and forty rushing

(02:44):
yards in these last two games. So if they're gonna really make a if
they're really gonna stamp their name onthis game, they're gonna need to make
sure to share that up on defense. Jake Wigle take Ferguson are the men
back to return for Oak Claire memorial. It'll be Aaron Solberg to kick it
off here for oak Claire North, the sixty first Crosstown showdown, and oak

(03:04):
Claire is about to get underway, and here we go downfield. It goes
and it will be taken at aboutthe fifteen yard line. But I ferguson
between the numbers and the hashtall backbetween the hashbarks. He's got a huge
laying to the forty to the fortyfive, fifty to the nearest sideline.
Tried to make a move. It'sSolberger. Chip trips him up the kicker
into North territory down to the fortyseven yard line and just like that,

(03:24):
a massive return. Didn't look likehe was running terribly hard there, Dan,
but he had some nice moves toget to where he did almost a
light jog, I'd say. Butthat blocking was great. They really funneled
the defenders away from number five andhe just took off. It's impressive,
certainly again your officials for tonight.Jeff Lenahan is the white hat. He's

(03:45):
got Mark Bryan, Mike Elling,Peter Verisey and Robert Zeraddica the officials here
tonight. They'll spread it out, will the old apes Riley Holmberg, the
senior at six foot two hundred andseventy pounds, he's forty two for seventy
on the year. Is out ofthe shotgun. Two receivers for the right,
two to the left, back topass, looking right, he'll fling
it out of the backfield. Caughtby his running back Simmons. He's hitting

(04:05):
the backfield and nothing doing. Infact, that might even be a loss
of one back to the forty eightyard line. He was wrapped up and
contained very well on the play bythe man we called a lot last week.
And Taylor Frederick for the Huskies, and Taylor Frederick picking up right where
he left off about a huge hitand it looked like the ball came out
for a second there, but hewas able to get right back on it

(04:26):
though. So this drive starting ingreat field position at the forty seven now
back to pass, will going onthe right side. A ball caught on
the right side by Bryce Headkee, the junior at six ft one hundred and
seventy pounds, had four receptions onthe season, gets a few out to
the north forty three yard line. That brings up third and about six here
for memorial and that's One of thekey points in this defense of this defensive

(04:53):
pressure here is making sure they're notmaking any big place through the air shotgun
on the far hash right until utthey with a little bit of wind at
their back. Here on this hotevening, third and six, back to
pass, that ball tipped at theline somebody got his hands up in front
of it there. Believe it wasKate Johnson. You correct me if I'm
wrong, dam But everybody getting theirhands up deflecting the pass and now memorial

(05:15):
with the decision. Oh yeah,And they were ready for that one.
They they had anticipated the pass coming, and I believe it was who was
it, number fifty seven, numberfifty seven. Yeah, there was a
couple different guys there. Kwaide Lezinskymight have been there as well, but
oh yeah, yeah, I meanthere was a bunch of guys who had
their paws up, about two orthree guys on that side of the line,

(05:36):
far side, two receivers to theright and two to the left.
Here they're gonna go four and onfourth and six from the north forty three
yard line back to pass goes Homeberglooks left the entire way. There's nobody
there now, Flings it out.Yeah, that's incomplete. Overthrew his intended
receiver Jay Weigel, and a turnoveron downs, basically a three and out
in great deal position. Now forOklare North and o Claire North take advantage

(06:00):
of the miscommunication there between Holmberg andWidel. He looked like he ran the
route but then just kind of stoppedmidway through and then slowly backed out a
little bit, just like that turnoveron downs. And now eau Claire North
gets the ball and let's see whatthey can do with it. With some
pretty nice field position own forty threenot as good as it was obviously for

(06:21):
Memorial, but they'll take it.Only a minute comes off the clock there
as well. The men glad inColumbia Blue will go from the forty three
on the far hash mark. Theymove left to right, a little bit
into the breeze. Not terribly stiffthough. Here it'll be the pistol formation.
They'll ship some guys here at theline. Will North Olson is the
tailback for mccracket. He'll give itto Olson. Looking right, he's got

(06:42):
a huge hold of the fifty. He bakes the tackle of the forty five,
and he's tripped up across the fortynear the thirty seven yard line.
Massive game there. On first down, we'll get him twenty and it's first
down, Husky. Oh my goodness, that was some beautiful blocking there.
Olson wasn't even touched until he madeit maybe need five yards out of there,

(07:02):
made it right into the linebackers, and then just kept churning his way
through. Yeah. Impressive run thereby Olson down to the thirty seven up
memorial. Now we have a whistlein an officials time out here. I'm
sure if they maybe needed to changeout the ball or what the case was.
Jeff Lenahan, the head official. You'll also hear his name called on
Saturdays in the w IAC. He'sa college official, and feel pretty good

(07:27):
when you get one of those collegeofficials in a high school game as well.
And calling this game tonight, aseverything seems to be all right,
all right. Between the hash marksright in the middle of them, left
to right, they go McCracken inthe shotgun. He's got Olson to his
right, gives him the hand off, trying to bounce it off on the
left. Had Yeah, he isshoestring tackled after a game of maybe one
on the play Luke Johnson Junior, six foot four defensive lineman, got out

(07:50):
to make the tackle after a gainof one. Great awareness there by Luke
Johnson to just close down and thenmake that low tech. Low man always
wins, and he matured. Hewent low to the ground. He got
the shoe string tackle and brott Olsondown. He's Olson's not a tough guy
to bring down. Split out onereceiver right, one to the left,

(08:11):
pistol formation again from mccrack and he'sgot Olson behind him. Second and nine
from the Memorial thirty six yard line. The gives to Olson looking right,
still bouncing right thirty five stiff armsand defender at the thirty bounces it out
to the twenty five down the sideline. He's rushed out of bounds near the
twenty yard live. Well see wherethey mark him out. The old abe's
a little slow there on the edge. Kay A, pardon me? That

(08:33):
was Grant Lockin who made the tackleon him down to the twenty three yard
line. He goes thirteen yards onthe play and play what cam Olson make
it up for last lost time afternot playing in the second half last week.
No, and you know that thatwas right on his mind. When
he started today's game. He wantsto go out there and show what he
could have done in that second half, and you know he's angry. Yeah

(08:54):
again, I think upset that hewasn't able to play in that second half
and ended up working out well forthe Huskies. They him came back,
of course, from twenty eight tofourteen, down to win thirty five to
thirty four and overtime against Lacrosse Loganlast night or last week. Rather McCracken
in the shotgun, he'll give itto Olson right up the gut, looking
left. He's hitting near the lineand just kind of dragged down by the
man who hit him earlier a coupleof plays ago. Luke Johnson kind of

(09:18):
hurt his legs for maybe four, could be five where they end up marking
him in the end and a decentgame there on first down, Oh yeah,
and it looked like it shouldn't havebeen much more than maybe a two
yard game, but he just gotmoving his legs and showing off his powerful
ability to run. I'll had afive yard game. Second and five now
coming up just inside the nineteen yardline. Is the Huskies are now in

(09:39):
the red zone. Nine minutes leftto play. First quarter. We've got
no score between Old Claire North andOld Clare Memorial here and the Crosstown Showdown
matchup number sixty one, the sixtiethAnniversary, sixty year anniversary. Rather as
McCracken in the shotgun, we'll fakethe hand out to Olson rolling to his
right, looking down field, catchmade at the eleven yard line and bouncing
out of bounds. As one ofthe heroes last week, Freddy Jensen,

(10:01):
he's closed in does have the firstdown. In fact, Bob and nine,
we'll call it a game of tenand now it's first and goal for
the Uskiees. And that's the passingattack that won them that game last week.
Jensen being one of those big guysthat caught that one of the two
touched. Actually, no, hecaught two touchdowns that last game. Yeah,

(10:22):
I had some big plays. Rememberhe took that big hit in the
end zone as well after catching whatwas the game tying touchdown. I do
believe, and he still came backin, Yeah I did. And he's
a tough kid. First and goalnow here from the eight yard line here
in the near hash mark McCracken andthe pistol formation as Olsen behind him,
one receiver left, one right.Jensen has lined up offset right side of

(10:43):
the line. In fact, they'llsend two men in motion now over to
the left side, including Jensen.Eight forty one left to play here in
the first quarter, first and goalfrom the eight. Olsen bouncing left and
he is wrapped up at the line, might have lost half a yard on
the play. Good job getting penetrationthere by Ethan bump the senior linebacker.
Yeah, it will be second andgoal and just not very good blocking in

(11:05):
the middle there. It almost lookedlike a collapse with the defensive line there
for oh Claire Memorial just bursting rightthrough with some great defensive intensity. One
Autumn there on the tackle as well. Second and goal from the nine yard
line, eight eleven left to play. First quarter'clock ticking, no score between
oak Clare North and Oaklaire Memorial.Mccracking and the shotgun Olsen behind him.

(11:26):
Ball in the middle of the hashmarks left or right they go. One
receiver left, one to the right. McCracken awaiting the snap. He will
take it and it is a giveto Olsen again right up the gut.
He will turn the legs down toabout the five yard line. He was
hit from behind by Bump again. And it will be third and goal from
right around the five yard line herefor the Huskies and just kind of willing

(11:52):
them into us what I think wouldbe us to set up this next play,
which I'm guessing is gonna be apass coming up here, because they've
ran now three straight Olson runs likewe've seen last week. Two. Yeah,
I remember that last week, alot of runs in situations we thought
they would pass, especially late inthe game. And now whistle and I
think, oh Claire North is gonnatake a time out here, and sure

(12:13):
enough they are with seven twenty twoleft to play in the first quarter,
third and goal from the five comingup for ou Claire. North will have
it for you right after this onClassic Rock ninety two one. This is
ou Claire High School football on ClassicRock ninety two one. Let's use a
football metaphor in your home. You'rethe quarterback, now, who would you

(12:35):
want your front pine ass fault,No, the fearsome form rain, hail,
wind and snow and blow right throwan ass ball line for real protection.
You want be yorks frand metal roofie. Because hit after hit, year
after year York sprand Metal Roofing willkeep you protected with a fifty year non

(12:56):
pro rated and transferable warrant two threeseven twenty six seven eight. Your home
for the Old Ames is Classic rockand welcome back in once again. Here
to Carson Park. A third andgoal from the five yard line for Old
Clare North as they try to winthis matchup between Memorial and North for the

(13:16):
first time since two thousand and eight. Been a while, certainly for Old
Clare North, and they have hada good start turnover on downs Memorial early
on, and now they've marched itdown field from their own forty three yard
line and get it to third andgoal and out of the time out.
A little bit of confusion here latesubstitution Solberg coming on is one of the
receivers. Late, it's still plentyof time to get the snap off though

(13:37):
for mccracket, we'll send him anin motion fake the end around and roll
out to his right throat of theend zone. That has caught touched down
Huskies going down to a knee tocatch it. Freddie Jensen with the little
foot first slide, and that wasa really difficult pass to defend either that
in a perfect spot where no defendercould get to it. Dan, Yeah,
and that's what McCracken did last weektoo. He put a lot of

(14:00):
balls right whether only the receivers couldmake it, and that right there was
perfect abradeents and a sliding cats there. And it looks like they're lining up
for a two point conversion here theold swinging gate here, the lineup for
they might get back into the extrapoint formation. Here Solberg is out the
kicker, and now they will lineup for the extra point here, just

(14:20):
to see how Memorial would line upto. It's seven nineteen left to play
here in this first quarter and asix nothing lead here for the Huskies trying
to make it seven bad snap,a tough spot and it's blocked and the
extra point is no good bad snap. I'm a crack and had a hard
time getting it down. And it'ssix and uping North with the lead seven
nineteen left to go, first quarterback after this classic Rocky two one.

(14:45):
This is so clear high school footballon Classic Rock. It's full furnace check
in clean time. Preventative maintenance onyour heating system is worth it. And
whether it's boilers, furnaces, orheat pumps were It's got like heating and
plum services most mix and models,Whereas Gulla Heating and Plumbing has provided quality,

(15:09):
Where Scala will make sure your heatingsystem is ready for the cold ahead
call or visit, Whereasgala dot Comseven again company. Your home for the
Huskies is Classic Rock ninety two oneand welcome back in here to Carson Park.

(15:31):
Seven nineteen left to play first quarter, six to nothink Oaklare North,
Lea's Oaklare Memorial and by my count, and ain't play. Fifty seven yard
drive that took just over three minutesand Oaklare North goes in. I'm pretty
impressive drive, dance, some goodpasses, some good runs. They mix
it up well. Look pretty goodfor the Huskies. Yeah, and that's
what we were kind of talking about, just the runs. Some really nice

(15:52):
runs by Camels at a twenty yardor a thirteen yarder, and then it
starts get a little bit quieter, but then they finally passed it to Jensen.
He's wide, just nice throwing theend zone kickoff goes to the far
side wiggle with the return a prettygood one out across the thirty and then
he's gang tackled here the thirty fouryard line there and much of the happiness
of Devin Andrew comes out of thepile first, pumping his chest for the

(16:14):
Huskies and o Claire. Memorial nowwill take over their own thirty four yard
line here after that return, soagain a turnover on down, so the
first time on this offensive side forMemorial. It certainly was a pretty rough
start to this game offensively. We'llsee if they can clean that up here,
starting at their own thirty four yardline. Seven twelve left to go

(16:37):
here in the first quarter. Memorialand North student sections are in good voice
tonight, as they often our tripsreceivers left far hash Mark moving right to
left here for Memorial and company handoff, though the give rather off of the
right side bounces off a tackle nicelythere the Simmons, but he's now finally

(16:57):
wrapped up. Looks like there'll bea loss of one. Maybe I think
they're gonna give him four progress backto the line of scrimmage for Simmons,
tackled on the play by Ray ShawnPutnick and it will be no gain second
and ten and that was just countedreally well by that old clear North defense.
Simmons almost just walked right into thedefender there on that far left side

(17:19):
right. Heinbuck was there as well. Putnick six foot four two fifth junior
for North. He provides some sizeon that defensive line. That see him
factor in a whole lot last weekas Holmberg and the shotgun has three receivers.
Who is left to roll that way? Pressure coming? He pump fakes
once, keeps rolling looking down field, launching it up in the air.
It is up here. It isa think intercepted. Officials are talking here.

(17:41):
Is it simultaneous possession or not?Yeah? North has this one.
This should be an interception. Shockcame down with it or they're getting it
to memorial. Oh my goodness, boys, shades of Seattle from years ago,
the old fail Mary play there simontaneouspossession and now the officials gonna talk

(18:02):
about I mean clearly out of thepile there Schoff had it. And even
in the pile it looked like Schoffhad had grabbed possession of that first and
had come down with it before.Wow, it goes from thirty four to
thirty four yard line, so it'sa thirty four yard gain in that way,

(18:22):
and wow, that is a Mattmc Mike McGinnis is gonna have some
words here, something like the fansare already having some words here. Matt
McGinnis still talking to the official onthe near side. And boy, it's
hard when the Husky player comes outwith the ball to really sell that one
to anybody, including the fans. Here there's a bounce out left side and

(18:45):
are looting a tackle their first Simmonshe lowers that shoulder across the thirty yard
line and drags a tackler up nearthe twenty seven yard line for a gain
of about seven on the play. It'll be second and three. And Simmons
is a big guy too, movingpretty quickly especially and looking really elusive out
there too, really big hit atthe end of it. But he just

(19:07):
he's a power back and a halfsplit out two receivers out to the right.
Here Will oh Claire Memorial, Clarkand Ferguson out there, and you've
got locking on the near side againfor Homeburg, Homeburg with the hard count.
Now he'll take the snap looking rightthe entire way, throws it toward
the end zone. It is upand batting in. It is intercepted in

(19:30):
the end zone, batting around, and North comes down with it. Believe
Reagan Crewett has it. Let's checkand make sure that's right. League number
twenty eight came down with it.Reagan Crewett with the interception and the end
zone and it is all Huskies rightnow here from Carson Park. And when
do I say, ball don't live? That was a beautiful, beautiful play.

(19:53):
Beautiful recognition is seeing the ball bounceoff the hands of the receiver and
just to do the track down, the trackdown drill that everyone does when they're
in high school, the old theold tip drill there as it were,
and yeah, I mean the twodefenders back there and again he was Johnny
on the spot. There was crewdto make that interception. And now North

(20:15):
has it back. And you saidthe baldom Lie idea. I mean that
same idea that you know, maybeNorth was a little hard done by what
they thought was an interception earlier inthe drive. This one for sure,
no doubt about that. In theend zone. So the ball out to
the twenty yard line and North takesover with five twenty one left to go
in this first quarter up six tonothing. M'cracking him. The shotgun sends

(20:36):
them man in motion. Will theytake a shot here? Now, it's
a little pitch play at the endaround here to Johnson. Dravan Johnson will
get to the edge. There isa flag on the play though, so
one looks like it's coming back.It would have been about a thirteen yard
game, but Jeff Lenahan's bringing thisone back. Yeah. I think they
got him on a holding call herejust around the edge. Anytime you have
those edge rushes, especially in highschool football, you're almost kind of waiting

(20:59):
for the laundry to come out whenthey bounce out that with that much space
here, you hear it. Tenyard penalty from the spot of the foul
and the hold was called on nineas you Brady, pardon me, like,
get Brady Jensen on the edge thereat the tight end spot to hold.

(21:22):
So back to the ten yard lineit goes, and it'll be first
and twenty. And what a momentumkiller, by the way, finally getting
a finally getting their interception that theybelieved was there's on the previous possession,
now finally getting it here and immediatelyhave to go back ten yards. That
was it. Well, that wasa good play designer as well. I
mean that little pitch on the endaround and would have gone down I believe

(21:45):
officially as a pass with it.But nonetheless, you know trab and Johnson,
we talked about his speed in theopen. He's got that good speed
around the edge. Showed it therenow in the near hash mark. They
fling it out here near side catchmade for a couple of yards, but
not much else as Carter Burns comesdown with them. But they'll just a
little pop pass there and that waswell contained by Grant lock in a company.

(22:07):
Oh yeah, Memorial making sure thatthey're not getting away with any big
chunk plays here, especially in thepassing game. They know cam Olson's that
big man running right at the center, so they're gonna probably try and contain
him more, but also not letthem spread the ball like they did in
that last drive. Yeah, Ithink they're maybe kind of banking on the
idea that North isn't going to takea shot here right backed up in their

(22:30):
own end zone. They're trying toplay down on the receivers a little bit.
We'll see if that hurts them,If nor tries to take advantage mccracking
in the shotgun. One receiver left, two to the right, near hash
mark, left to right. Theygo four twenty eight left in the first
quarter six nothing old Claire North snaptaken. They faked the handoff on the
end around. Now it's Olsen runningright. They patient running there as he

(22:51):
lowers that shoulder up to the fifteenmaybe the sixteen yard line. We'll call
it again at three and it'll bethird and long, third about fourteen.
So North rattling off about three fouryards on the last two plays, but
now it's third and forever. Itseems like backed up in their own territory
and there was just nowhere for Olsento go there. It looked like the
lineman actually ran into him first beforethe defensive player, but just not a

(23:15):
great not great execution. It lookedlike they were just kind of jogging around
that outside too, no one reallygetting to their spots on time. Well,
they ran into the short side ofthe field two on the near hash
mark right. I mean, therewasn't that big open space that they could
run too. I think that waswhy Olson just couldn't find any holes there.
Like you said, he was lookingfor something to open it up,
and it never did. Mccracking inthe shotgun. He's got four receivers here.

(23:37):
Back to Passel fling it out toOlson out of backfield to the fifteen
to the twenty. He bulls overa defender up near the twenty three yard
line. Get some positive yardage here, probably about six maybe seven on the
play, not enough for the firstdown. It will be fourth and mid
range and north. We'll have topump this one off. And a great
tackle by Higden to just make surethat Olson doesn't break off a big,
huge chunk play like we saw earlierin the drive and we saw last game

(24:02):
two. There's a great leg tackleand made sure to contain him in that
open field, which is a lotmore difficult than people might people might think.
Tommy Perkins back to punt, standingat his own nine yard line,
back to return for memorial. Ibelieve that's Julius Clark who's back, because
we'll get rid of this one.It is a kind of wobbling spiral.
Clark up to the forty seven, his own forty seven receives it, avoids

(24:26):
a tackler, now avoids a secondand there he goes to the forty five
of the far sideline, makes amove at the forty and then he is
dragged down at the thirty nine yardline. That was a great open field
tackle by Oak Claire North's Clay Lozinski, and it really should have been stopped
earlier. Like at the fifty theyhad him wrapped up, but it was
an arm tackle. Again. Wesaw this last game against Logan a lot

(24:48):
of arm tackling resulting in bigger playsthan it should have been. So two
thirty eight mark is where we sithere in the first quarter, six to
nothing. Oaklare North with the LenaMemorial, but Memorials had some really good
field position here in this ball game. This one's starting at the thirty nine
yard. I remember their first drivestarted at the north forty seven, so

(25:08):
they've been in North territory a coupleof times, just haven't gotten any points
out of it. Last drive endedon an interception. Two receivers left one
right here for Holmberg and company. He'll give the hand off to Simmons up
the middle gut a huge told ofthe thirty to the twenty five, and
he's dragged down from the side onthe tackle here by Lindmann, but at
not after a massive gain up tothe twenty two yard line in the first

(25:30):
down. Seventeen yards on the play, and just that's what they need to
do here, especially because they're they'reexpecting them to pass. They need the
run game to take off in thisgame if they're gonna think they're gonna win.
Two receivers go right, one left, far hash mark, right to
left. They go to twelve leftto play in the first quarter, Memorial

(25:51):
with the ball six nothing north herein the Crosstown Showdown. Here's the handoff
to Simmons up the gut, looksleft. Now cuts it up the middle
upright, kind of between the hashmark. We'll get a defender to drag
him down up across the twenty tothe eighteen yard line. Gain a four
on the run, and I'll besecond and six here for Memorial and just
not a lot going there. TheI can't remember who it is on that

(26:15):
offensive line, but he pulled abit late trying to He moved over a
bit late, and it kind ofallowed the defensive nose tackle to just kind
of cut right through and just blowup the entire play. Still, Simmons
was able to drag some people forfour yards though I think that was Breckon
hay Gout on that right guard spotwhere you mentioned him pulling. And now
they'll give Simmons a handoff counter rightto left, and he has tackled up

(26:38):
near the sixteen yard line. Thatwas really good recognition by Klay Lazinski again
to get that tackle, as itlooked like for a moment there was a
hole, but filled up there nicelyby those and that's that job by those
linebackers. They need to make surethey're actually filling up those holes and making
sure there's no possible way that Simmonscan get some free looks there. Lazinsky
gonna check out and checking in isRay Shawn Putnick for North on the defensive

(27:03):
line. One receiver splits out righthere for Memorial two to the left and
then your hashmark right to left. They go fifty two seconds remain in the
first quarter North six Memorial nothing, third and four here from the sixteen of
North. It's another hand off toSimmons looking for a hole on the right
side. Somebody's helmet goes flying, but they got the first down up near
the ten yard line again of sixon the run. I think there was

(27:25):
a stiff arm thrown in there, and we saw the helmet pop off of
one of the Hushky defenders there.I believe that was no Penneger and it
will be first and I don't thinkthey're gonna give him first and goal.
It's gonna be first and ten fromjust outside the ten yard line, and
Penneger the whole reason his helmet cameoff was because he grabbed so high on
him. He almost grabbed him chestthe chest and tried taking him down from

(27:45):
up there, and you just arenot going to be able to bring down
a strong runner like Simmons like thatwell, belly to belly suplex Sarah.
It's two receivers right, one left, but all in the middle hashmark here
for Homeburg. Homeburg takes the snap, looks to pass, look and go
right. He'll throw the slant.Little confusion there. I think on that
route Ferguson was the man it wasintended for. But that pump fake that

(28:06):
he looked at Clark initially out tothe right kind of threw off the timing
of that play and it's an incompletion. Yeah, I think he was going
for Ferguson. Initially, but thenhe saw a wide open player in the
end zone and he just he wantedto make that happen, but he had
already kind of committed to throwing itto Ferguson and just ended up throwing it
right into the dirt incompletion. Stopsthe clock with ten seconds remaining here in

(28:30):
the first quarter, six to nothingNorth, second and ten from just outside
the North ten yard line. Memorialknocking on the door, it says Holmberg.
Two receivers left, one right inthe shotgun formation, has Simmons to
his left. He will fake thehandoff looking left, always pressure. He
rolls out to his left, throwsto the back of the end zone.
It is up and incomplete through theback of the end zone. That stops
the clock with four seconds remaining inthe quarters. So we should get one

(28:52):
more play before the end of thefirst quarter here and a six nothing North
lead, and pretty vital play herebecause of a sudden it's third and ten.
Oh yeah, and you really don'twant to give it up here.
They've had multiple like we've said before, they've had multiple chances on this side
of the field. Very good startingfield position to make something happen and just
come up with nothing throughout this firstquarter. Yeah, I believe that was

(29:15):
Penneger too, who was the manwho got into the backfield there and gave
a little bit of pressure to Holmburgthat made him roll out. I have
to kind of throw across his body. Just threw it over everybody's heads out
of the back of the end zonethere Holmberg in the shock and again two
receivers left, one right. Twomen go in motion. They'll both have
to reset here before the snap, and they will before the snap comes.
It is taken by Homeburg. Helooks to go left, little fade route

(29:37):
back quarter of the end zone.It is up and incomplete great defense down
field by Maddox Gertz. He couldn'treally turn his head around, but he
didn't make great contact. There's theofficials had a hard time, I think
pulling the flag out of the pocket. We'll talk more about that and we'll
see what Memorial decides to do onfourth and ten from the ten when we
start the second quarter. That's comingup in just a minute. Right after

(29:59):
this. On Classic Rock ninety twoone, this is o clear high school
football on Classic Rock ninety two one. I was down on my luck my
car was a pizza. Luckily Ifound out of King Otto King showed me

(30:21):
that they truly kid. I wentdown to Bird Street in a Claire.
I got a great deal. Thethought of the yeah, Auto King is
the only way to go. Yourhome for the old apes is Classic Rock

(30:41):
ninety two one. Welcome back inhere to Carson Park, got a good
one for you so far and thecrosstown showed now Oak Clair North six,
Oak Claire Memorial. Nothing. Weget set to start the second quarter as
we take a look at the AutoKing scoreboard. Couple of scores update John
Hudson right now leading seven and nothingin the second quarter over Chipwa when I'm
gonna leading seven nothing over Superior inthe second quarter, and New Richmond up

(31:03):
seven and nothing on River Falls alsoearly in the second quarter. There Pika
Dutson, Danzon's with you. Fourthdown here in ten Dan from the just
outside the north ten yard line. And what are we looking at here?
Maybe an extra point? Or arewe going for it? I think we're
looking at the field goal. Excuseme, I believe we're looking at a
fields goal too. If they're goingfor it, I don't know why there's
no reason too. It's only sixnothing right now, you can make it

(31:26):
a three point game. It'll beVincent Mullen on to attempt the field goal
here for oh player memorial. Thiswill be of the twenty seven yard variety.
Ball's right in the middle, hashmark a holder here is tap Ferguson.
Yeah, that will start the secondquarter here in a six nothing Husky
lead. Well, there's a movementthere by the kicker and then it was

(31:48):
a bad snap. Somebody scooped upnorth can return this. They're gonna try
to up across the ten and doabout the twelve yard line returned on the
play by Maddox Girtz. You know, I think that might should have been
blown dead. Dan. It lookedlike the kicker there and Mullins started early
before that snap was even taken away. Oh yeah, some really poor miscommunication

(32:10):
there. I have no idea whatwas going on, because usually you see
it's the long snapper will snap itfirst before anyone's ready to go, and
then you'll have an issue because youhave no one ready. But right here
the kicker actually starts before the balleven gets to the holder. So just
some really interesting, really interesting miscommunication. Yeah, you can tell there's some

(32:32):
nerves out there, and it justkind of feels like Memorial has never really
kind of gotten their feet under himin this game yet, right. I
mean, they've had some good fieldpositions, just haven't really been able to
sustain a drive yet. North hashad one good sustained drive and ended in
a touchdown when cracking a Jensen forfive yards back with seven nineteen left in
that first quarter. They lead sixto nothing. Do the Huskies eleven fifty

(32:52):
five left in the second far hashMark mccrack and takes the snap, Olson
trying to bounce it out on theleft side. He'll get to the fifteen
and he's taken down up near theseventeen yard line. He kind of rolled
up there as well. Carter Burns, who was a little bit late getting
up. I seem like he avoidedthe worst of it. That could have
been a dangerous play though on thattackle. Oh yeah, knowing Burns,

(33:13):
he definitely wants to get right backinto the play. So even if he
was heard he was, he wouldstill be playing out there. But just
a great job by that pulling.I don't remember who it was that pulled,
but just completely blocked off the defensiveend and got Cam just a little
bit more room to run, resultingin a pretty good, pretty good game.
Clark made that tackle there out ofthe safety spot for the old Abs.

(33:37):
It's about a five yard game. We'll call it up at the eighteen
yard line. Second and five,McCracken once again gives to Olson looking up
the middle. Nothing doing there, and he is wrapped up in the backfield
once again by sort of his nemesis. Already, Luke Johnson was the one
back in the backfield. Let mea loss of a couple back to the
seventeen yard line. And now it'sthird and six here for Old Claire North.

(33:58):
Great great recognition there, Luke Johnson. Just to fill up the hole
where the guard had left and justsit there. That's what you're taught,
just sit. And you've seen that. Cam Wilson, he's had a little
bit of time. He's tried tobe patient back there, but I think
Luke Johnson's got of had enough ofthat. He said, I'm getting into
the backfield. I'm not gonna letyou be patient make that decision. I'm
gonna wrap you up before you canmake one. Oh yeah, no,
they must have seen, they musthave seen that four hundred and forty yards

(34:22):
between two games metric and must havereally want to prove themselves here. Third
and six from their own seventeen meaningthe twenty three McCracken and the shotgun back
to pass looking left the entire waylittle out route there that is incomplete.
There was a handful of jersey,it looked like on that pass to Burns
from the defender. No call onit. Defenceman was Blake Animan and it

(34:45):
will be an incompletion. And fourthand six now is northeats upunt away again
definitely contact, but again you've seenthat for the most part, the officials
have let a lot of contact goin the passing game. So are at
least on the defensive side. Nowback to return this kick, because Julius
Clark stands almost at the fifty yardline, back in his own end zone.

(35:10):
Is kicker here for Perkins rather forNorth. That is a beautiful punt,
fair catch called for and it's madeat his own forty eight yard line.
A very nice punt there about thirtysix yards and a nice high spiral
of there. And then at leastbacks up Memorial a little bit from what
we've been used to seeing. Ohyeah, a beautiful, beautiful punt.

(35:36):
Also the fact that it was nearlyblocked too, that free defender needs to
get make sure they're actually blocked inthe next time they have a punt.
But just that was almost a throwingcatch, look because the way he kicked
that just spiled right up and thenspiled right back down to the kick returner.
So now Memorial goes back on offense. It's Oaklare North six Memorial nothing.

(35:59):
Ten oh eight left to go secondquarter, two receivers out left here
for home bird on the far hashmark. They go left to right,
and there was some kind of certaintime out called maybe before this snap looked
like that was what they were goingto Yeah, Jeff Lenahan, you can
hear him say that there was atimeout call by Memorial before the snap taking.
All right, we'll take a breakas well. Ten oh seven left

(36:20):
to go here in the second sixthto nothing, Huskies first and tent for
Memorial after this. On Classic rocketytwo one, this is oh clear high
school football. On Classic Rock ninetytwo one. Let's use a football metaphor
in your home. You're in thequarterback, now, who would you want
your front fine ass fault, Nothe fearsome form rain, hail, wind

(36:44):
and snow and blow right throw anass ball line. For real protection,
you want yorks Rand Metal Roofie becausehit after hit, year after year,
Ysrand Metal Roofing will keep you protectedwith a fifty year non pro ray and
transferable ward two to three seven twentysix, seventy eight. Your home for

(37:07):
the Huskies is classic rock back.Out of the time out, We're ready
for football. A high snap, but I hand off to Simmons and he'll
run for a few yards here acrossthe fifty yard line. As we get
this drive underway from Memorial from theirown forty eight, he gets to the
north forty six yard line, gainof six. Almost ended up being a
direct snap, but it was kindof like Homberg just kind of batted it

(37:28):
out of the air and Simmons grabbedit and took off. And a great
way to improvise by Simmons to justgo, just go, and as soon
as he got that his hands onthat ball, he was just took off.
Schmars. Simmons had one hundred andfourteen yards rushing in two games coming
into this game. The junior atsix foot one two hundred nine pounds and
he'll take the handoff, countering rightto left. He looks like he's close
to the first down up across theforty five near the forty three yard line.

(37:52):
No official signal yet. Multiple Huskieswere there. Look like tight Shoff
was at the bottom of the pile. They're gonna say he's just short.
He needed to get to the fortytwo and the balls at about the forty
two and a half yard line, and we'll see if they're gonna switch it
up here, because they've been justrunning in these last few possessions that they've

(38:14):
had. But it really they're linedup in like a scrunched up formation.
This is a direct snap to Simmons. He's gonna run left. They got
some penetration, but he gets outof the tackle initially and gets the first
down up to the forty yard line. I believe that was Penneger who kind
of shot the gap and he almostgot to the backfield. He saw that
play coming. But you're right, there was what three fullbacks one side and

(38:35):
then a direct snap to Simmons. That was That was a big set.
If you ever saw one the jumbothat was done. That was That was
an excellent jumbo right there. Theywere they wanted that first down. It's
like me after a trip to thebuffet, right there. Kind of formation,
all right, First and ten fromthe forty of north and once again
Holmberg in the shotgun. He's gottwo receivers left, two tight ends right.

(39:00):
Kind of a tight formation here againand he will give it to Simmons
trying to bounce it out on theright edge, gets through a hold of
the thirty five cuts up to thirtyspins down near the twenty eight yard line,
about a twelve yard game on theplay. Finally tackled on the play
by ray Sean Putnick, but notafter a twelve yard game. And it
really feels like they're getting into theirgroove here. It may have only just

(39:21):
been a few runs, but Simmonsis really finding his stride right now.
I think, Well, you talkedabout it, Dan in our pregame,
right, I mean, we talkIt's easy to say that this is a
passing team, but you said thatMemorial is going to have to run to
be successful tonight, and they havedone a pretty decent job of that so
far, and they're now really committedto it. Eight oh seven left to
play Here in the quarter, theygive it to Simmons again, bouncing out
on the left, gives a stiffarm, but he was hit in the

(39:43):
backfield. Gets a yard or two. Kay Johnson again shot the gap and
boy, look at that beautiful tackleout there to get only a couple of
yards on that game for Simmons tothe twenty six. And that's what I'm
talking about too, because that wasBet tackled by the way he was ripping
and pulling and making sure he wasthat he was making sure Simmons was going

(40:05):
down. The intensity that these twoteams have for each other. Oh yeah,
you can tell this course of rivalrymatchup. And I think part of
what coach McGinnis has talked about twoonce North to try to take the ball
away right, especially in these situations, Ben don't break, then try to
make a big play on defense partof the idea. Here second and eight
now from the North twenty six yardline, six to nothing, Huskies lead

(40:28):
it hand off to Simmons countering rightto left again, got a decent hole
as he gets across the twenty fiveand up near the twenty two yard line.
Gain of four on the play.Once again that right side of the
defense, Kate Johnson making the tackle. That right side of the defense is
getting its workout here for old ClareNorth. Oh yeah, And they might
want to start like putting another defenderon that one side, maybe a linebacker

(40:52):
to scare the scare the offense alittle bit from running to that side.
We'll just have to see, though, I mean, that's the thing.
You do that and then all ofa sudden that passing game opens up.
I'm sure that's what North or whatMemorials trying to flow North into. Here.
They send a receiver in motion leftthere right now, two backs in
the backfield there, that's Autumn backalong with Holmberg. He'll give the handoff

(41:13):
to seventh. He's wrapped up inthe backfield. And this time Kate Johnson
read it like a book, abig loss back to the twenty five on
third and four. And now thatbrings up fourth down here for a Memorial
with six nineteen to go in thesecond quarter and a decision to be made.
And that's another miscommunication on that Memorialoffensive line, letting Kay Johnson just
run right through the gap untouched, just to get a perfect and beautiful hit

(41:37):
right there. Nice tackle, andyou can't really punt in this situation.
And we saw that first field goalattempt be a little bit of an adventure
there for Memorial, So this isI think kind of have to go for
it in this situation. Fourth andseven from the North, twenty five six
to nothing Huskies and in the shotgungoes Homeborg. Three receivers put out right,

(41:59):
ball right in the middle of Ashbark. They need to get to the
eighteen yard line for a first onundHomebird rolls right, get some good containment
here now looking across the middle, throws and it's intercepted. Intercepted at the
fifteen yard line of the twenty lookingforward, turning down of the twenty three
yard line, ball popped out.But I believe that the intercepting back was
down. Was that See who thatwas? It was Maddox Girts, I

(42:19):
believe who came away with the interception. Second interception of the game for Oak
Claire North. And they have itback at their own twenty two with five
thirty one left to play in thesecond quarter. North six abes nothing and
a great great read there by Gertstoo. He bade it. He made
sure that Holdbird Holdenberg was gonna committo throwing to the middle of the field

(42:45):
because it looked like he was gonnamaybe just chuck it deep. But he
went back, turned, threw upto his right side and won't behold there's
girts to make the interception again. It's just been down field. There's no
I've been a lot of space anddefensive backs for North have been pretty impressive
in this game. To be all, to be honest, is now,

(43:07):
this is mccrack and rolling out tohis right throws that has caught by Jensen
at the twenty five to the thirty, and he's taken down here the thirty
four yard line gain of twelve Justget him out rolling in the little bootleg
there and sure enough twelve yards inthe first down, and it looked like
there is a lot more, alot more for Jensen to go with there
too, but a nice tackle thereby Julius Clark in the open field to

(43:30):
make sure he doesn't get much morethan that, because he could have probably
taken that extra twenty yards. Justkind of a smart play call, right,
get your get your quarterback out rolling, get him on the run,
let him throw on the run,get him one throw for some confidence here.
Don't have to give it to Olsenas well. Five minutes left to
play in the second quarter. Northsix memorial nothing some room to work with
now at their own thirty five yardline, first and ten far hash Mark.

(43:52):
Two receivers left, one to theright. Mccrack had hands off to
Olson, tried a bounce off atackle getting around the edge of the thirty
five and he's up ended near thethirty eight yard line. Ended up making
something out of nothing there. He'stackled by Clark, got three yards.
A lesser back might have been tackledfor a loss there. Oh yeah,
definitely, especially no, especially onethat's not as big as camels and big

(44:15):
camels and the over two hundred pounds, but runs like he's one hundred and
twenty. He's got the speed. He can also be that bruising back as
well. He's a really good comboin that way. But yeah, he's
shown off the speed at times aswell. We're gonna call this a second
in a long six or short sevenhere, ball in between the thirty eight
and thirty nine. Four ten leftto go here on the second quarter.

(44:37):
Oh Claire North the touchdown early inthe first quarter, leads six to nothing
here on O Clare Memorial, OhClaire. North has not won this rivalry
matchup since two thousand and eight,a fourteen game losing streak. They'll fake
the handoff the back, they'll rollout to the right. It's Jensen again,
caught at the forty one. He'sgot the first down to the forty
five. Stays on this beat downthe sideline. He's into Memorial territory.
I believe we'll see where they markedhim out now. They're gonna say he's

(45:00):
down at the forty eight yard line, a gain of ten, still in
their own territory. But a nicejob tip toeing the line. Jensen limping
a little bit back here to thepuddle though as well. So let's hope
that he's all right. Yeah, absolutely, And that's what I was saying
they're about Jensen earlier. You justcan't take down that guy with a simple
arm tack, or you gotta putyour chest into him and make sure he's

(45:22):
going down. But really hope he'sokay after that. After that, play
a ball. If they're owned fortyeight yard line. A couple first sounds
here for North on this drive. They're moving the ball pretty effectively. Two
receivers right, one left for mccrackingand company. The running back is Lavante
Bean. He did a really nicejob. You talked about him in the
pregame. Now they'll pitch it here. They're gonna get to Johnson on the

(45:43):
end around right to left, goodblock on the edge, no holding this
time, and he'll get out tothe forty five of Memorial gain of seven,
and all the old apes are upin the officials business there. They
wanted the hold called that time, but didn't get it. Oh yeah,
And I feel like there's gonna bea lot of back and forth there.
They might not be called a lot, especially nothing that is very visible,

(46:04):
very visible. They might not becalling just because they want they want this
game to have that high pressure intensitythat these two teams already have for each
other. So again, this isa pretty experienced crew like we talked about,
and you know they're trying to strikethat balance, right, how much
can we let go here? Aswell? They call that holding earlier on

(46:24):
the exact same play that pitch toJohnson on Jensen. This time they let
it go maybe a little bit lessegregious than the first time. Second and
four here from the memorial forty six. This time it is a hand off
to Olsen right up the gut andhe will get a yard or two to
the forty four yard line. Takendown on the play by memorials. Zach

(46:45):
Higden say I'm in there as well. Third and about two here four and
North from the forty four yard line. Three twenty seven left to go on
the second QUARTERA Clare North six abesnothing and this is a make well it's
not a make or break drive, but this could really set like this could
really show, This could really startthe momentum here, especially for oh Claire

(47:08):
North, who's kind of had somea couple really boring drive. Yes,
after that touchdown drive, they havestruggled a little bit, a couple of
punts right, haven't moved the ballterribly. Well, Bean is the back.
Olsen limped a little bit there ashe was coming off the field,
So Bean is the back here onthird and two they need the forty two
for a first down. They willgive it to Bean right up the gut.

(47:29):
Waits for a blocker. He's gotthe first down. What good running
again? Patient running there again tothe forty one yard line. Multiple different
old abes were in on the tackle. They were all pointing. I thought
for a moment somebody fumbled. Theythought it was just a not a conversion,
but it was. It's first downin ten here for North at the
forty one, and we talked aboutbeing the last game two. He might

(47:52):
not be the biggest guy, buthe does play big. He will run
through you. He's gonna keep turninghis legs, so you better push back
against him. Five foot, eighthundred and fifty five pounds sophomore. We
saw some speed from him, butyou're right, he can eat it.
Kind of wants to be a bruisingrunning back, even though he might not
have the size for that. Hedoesn't mind running up the gut. Two
receivers right, one left here nearhash Mark right till left they go.

(48:15):
Jensen offset as a tight end rightside, waiting the snap McCracken. They
faked the handoff, Blitz coming throwsout right Jensen incomplete. He was wrapped
up right as the ball got there. Good defending from Nolan Autumn again and
that was the same play that theyrun a lot. This time, it
looked like Memorial was ready for it. Oh yeah, And they saw that

(48:36):
a few times, and they justwanted to make sure that he wasn't going
to get outside. And so thatwas some great contained by the left side
of the Memorial defense to make surethere just wasn't anything going clock stops on
the incompletion. Two minutes left togo here in the first half. Oak
Claire North six, Oak Claire Memorialnothing second and ten from the forty one
of the old abes here for OaklareNorth, Peyton mccrack and the junior.

(49:00):
Your quarterback has two receivers to theright and one to the left. Bean
is his running back. Awaits thesnap on second and ten. He's a
thirty one for a first down, looks to pass, goes left the entire
way that one is up for Johnsoncaught at the fifteen to the ten to
the five, and he's pushed outof bounds and boy, he just juped

(49:20):
and almost kind of pulled the oldfast one there on head Key the cornerback
down the line. Head get noidea the ball was coming. Johnson kept
his hands down before the ball gotthere, and all of a sudden the
ball was on top of him andhe gets to the five yard line.
Just an absolutely amazing play and thatshows the just how great of a quarterback
McCracken can be. That was abeautiful throw, beautiful dime and just just

(49:45):
an amazing job by Johnson. Twodropped it in the bucket. But like
you kids, like you kid saythat wasn't dime. That was beautiful.
Absolutely two receivers left, one righthere for McCracken first and goal from the
five. Clock stopped when he gotout of bounds. A handoff will go
around the edge. This is beanto the goal line. He got hit

(50:07):
at about the two yard line, hit backwards there by autumn he would not
let him get in. I'll givehim forward progress about the yard and a
half line. It will be secondin goal. One forty left here in
the second quarter, clock running andit'll be interesting to see what they do
here with a minute thirty running down. You kind of want to run the
ball here. Maybe maybe take alittle bit more time off the clock.

(50:29):
Two, maybe make this try andmake this the last possession of the staff.
I could see them going with beinghere again. Yeah, I could
definitely see that. Now they're gonnalooks like they brought in ty Shoff here
at the running back spot. Pistolformation again, second end goal, one
eleven left to go, second quarter, but Krackin takes the snap that Shop
off the middle. He's got ahuge hole touchdown, Huskies. Shop,

(50:52):
he was the man who ran itin in over time to get that touch
down that tied the ball game withLogan before the extra point, want it
and shoff into the end zone.He goes, it's twelve to nothing,
Huskies and just like that, Ohplayer North, what a first half.
And that was some great blocking tomake sure that Shop was able to just

(51:15):
get right up in the middle ofthere. And like you said before,
he already had a touchdown like thisthat last game, except that one was
an overtime. It was an overtime. It was I believe a fourth and
goal from about the two is similarkind of situation that obviously this wasn't fourth
down, but they needed him toget in and he did. He did
it does here and shof a nicelittle option and we saw Wilson come off

(51:37):
limping in the middle of that drive. Not sure if it was cramps or
hopefully nothing more than maybe a littlebit of dehydration. Of course, it
was one of the issues he hadlast week, so hopefully nothing big there
against shot stays in pistol formation froma crack and they want to go for
two. Oh Memorial just jumped offside, so again that's an automatic dead
ball. In the high school game, they'll move this half the distance to

(51:58):
the goal, so let'll replay thetry from about the yard and a half
yard line. They're in that area. That's a big mistake. Yeah,
that's a really poor mental air there. He was trying to fake out the
center and just jumped over. Inthe high school game, they blow that
dead no need for the snap tocome. Shop gets the handoff or on

(52:20):
the edge to the end zone. He's in for two and just like that,
it's fourteen and upping Huskies one ohsix remaining here in the second quarter.

Rock. Then welcome back in onceagain here at two Carson Park. How
about this Oak Clair North with afourteen nothing lead on Oad Claire Memorial with
a minute six seconds left here beforehalftime. Peka, Dutson, Danzon's with
you. A couple of scores toupdate, John on our otod King out
of town scoreboard twenty to nothing. Now New Richmond leads with the under two

(53:37):
minutes left in the second quarter. There, Menominee now up thirteen to nothing
late in the second quarter against Superior, and Hudson up seven nothing on Chippewa
late in the second quarter there,All right, I don't know Memorial needs
to score here, but boy, wouldn't that be big for their confidence?
Sam? Moving forward? Oh yeah, the wind's already out of the sales
of the Old Abs right now.He can already tell from their body language.

(53:57):
There's the kickoff. It is agood one again with the win and
that ball is taken riot at aboutthe one yard line and a big return
on that far side from Wiggle's guy. A blockers in front of him across
the thirty five and he's taken downfrom behind about the thirty nine yard line.
Wiggle boy, he was high amountof speed. They're running up the
middle. If he had not beentripped up, he easily he's gonna beat
the rest of those defenders. Ohyeah, he had a head full of

(54:20):
steam because of that kick he had. He had a pretty wide gap there
to get a running start, andman was he flying. But just one
more block was needing. He probablycould have been gone right there. Actually
fifty seven seconds from me. Imean, you look at Memorials. Drives
in this game, right started fromthe north forty seven turnover on down started
from their own thirty four that endedin an interception from the north thirty nine

(54:43):
block field goal from their own fortyeight an interception. They've had some good
field position, they've just ended drivespoorly. As there's a pump fake there
and a spin out throwing down field. It is batted away. Homeburg got
away from the pressure and then thoughthe was gonna scramble with it. He
decided to throw it down a sidelineand tell you what, that was almost
intercepted coming out of the secondary therefrom Gertz. Oh yeah, I would

(55:06):
have been a tough catch for himintercept that. But man, have we
seen some crazy stuff with this ouClaire North team, so I wouldn't be
surprised. I'll tell you what North'ssecondary is hawking to the ball right now.
I mean they are they are predators, smelling blood in the water right
now, with forty nine seconds remaining, the pass again it hit take him,

(55:27):
but he gets away from it.Now, homb are gonna run with
this one on the far sideline, gets out of a tackle and then dances
out of bounds near the first downmouthmarker across the forty five and out of
bounds. We'll see where they markhim at the forty nine yard line.
So a nine yard game, it'sthird and one. And that was some
great h That was just some greatimprovisation there to recognize that there's no one

(55:51):
open go downfield. But even thenhe got caught up and it looked like
he was getting dropped at around likemaybe the maybe after a game of two
or three, but was able tomanage to get out of bounce and keep
the clock from moving. Yeah, clocks stopped there. Forty one seconds remaining,
third and one hand off the Simmonsup the gut. He's got the
first down across the fifty and alittle bit more up near the forty six

(56:12):
yard line as he was gang tackledon the play by Johnson and company.
But it'll be a first down,so they'll convert. Now the clock will
run two time ounce remaining here forthe old Abes, it's a Husky's fourteen
and memorial nothing. This should betoo many men on the field there,
there's Huskies were trying to get somebodyoff the field. Now they launch a
ball downfield near side incomplete homeburg.I think he was trying to pull the
old Aaron Rodgers there is. Itlooked like North trying to get all men

(56:36):
off the field. They might havegotten their eleventh guy off the field though,
and there might have only been tendefenders out there. Dan, I
was trying to count. I didn'tsee that many Huskies out on the field
there. No, it just lookedlike a just weird, weird miscommunication along
that sideline too. They looked likethey had too many men then they didn't
have any men, and then theyeverybody disappeared. Everyone disappeared, Everyone disappeared,

(56:59):
and especially that passed too. Yeah, he ended up being an incompletion.
Now twenty five seconds remain, secondand ten clock stopped on the incompletion.
Homeburg takes the snap of the shotgun, rolls right, looks to the
sideline. That is caught tiptoeing thesideline. It is a catch in bounce
for Bryce Headkey gain of a few. He didn't get the first down.
He's up near the thirty eight yardline. They'll call it a gain of

(57:19):
eight. So third and two nowhere for the old age, twenty one
seconds remain. They do have twotimeouts remaining, as o clare North leads
fourteen to nothing here on Memorial theymight have two timeouts left, but they
only have twenty one seconds. Andthat twenty one seconds might feel like long,
especially for NFL standards, but ina high school game, it's gonna
be hard to get down to especiallyeven field goal position from where they are

(57:45):
from what we saw as well.Again, they can go over the middle
though, and burn one of thosetimeouts if they want. Homeburg. Looking
over the left side, that ballis caught at the thirty three and a
first down. Great adjustment by Wygalover there. It was thrown behind him.
For a moment, I thought thatNorth might have as to pick that
off, but it's a first down. They'll take a time out at the
thirty two yard line after a gainof about six fifteen seconds remain here in

(58:07):
the second quarter, Husky's fourteen OhClaire Memorial nothing and you've got a first
and ten from the North thirty twowith one time out remaining and dan fifteen
seconds left. Again, you cango over the middle call that time out
even if you get a first down, right, just to get everybody set
ready to go, and then it'sa either a shot or two at the
end zone or the field goal. But like we saw earlier and said earlier,

(58:28):
field goal, you know, itlooked a little shaky their first time
out. I wonder if a Memorialmight just take a couple of shots at
the end zone here. I thinkthat'd be the best case scenario too.
They already got two back to backpretty close to ten yard plays on their
passing game here, and we've alreadyseen them throw some mean deep balls too,
including the one that might not havebeen a full complete cash with Tay.

(58:52):
Yeah, it was at passed downthe nearest sideline earlier that we saw
Tay Ferguson come down with question mark. It was interesting simultaneous possession situation there.
So now out of the time out, two receivers left to right,
Homeberg looks to pass. He overthrowsit and it is incomplete, should have
been intercepted. He was looking togo down the sideline to wiggle, but

(59:14):
he overthrew that one by a widemargin and in and I mean it would
have been a tough interception. Itwas down near the turf. Is that
Lynman who was no, pardon methat washul Quist to just missed out on
the interception there for the Huskies.Oh yeah, and he's gonna beating himself
up about that one. It mightnot have been the easiest catch to make,

(59:36):
but it was right in his handsand then it just rolled right out.
That was crew it actually who hasone of the two interceptions. Remember
he got that deflected interception in theend zone back in the first quarter.
He almost had number two right there. Now eleven seconds remained second and ten
clock stopped on the incompletion bought thethirty two of North rolling out to his
right homeber looking down field, lookinglooking steps up, throws it towards the

(59:57):
end zone, back corner. It'sup and incomplete. Never really had a
chance to make that catch. Fourseconds remain up. All was throwing a
good five to ten yards out ofbounds. They were trying to find Julius
Clark, but well covered and againthe ball not really really giving Clark a
chance there. And I'd expect somethingsimilar on this next play here, especially
with they only have four seconds leftall the way at the thirty man.

(01:00:21):
They don't really have a lot ofoptions here except for maybe throw a hail
Mary. Yeah, Travian Johnson's inthe game right now, along with believe
Ty Shoff is back there as well, and they've got basically three defenders standing
at about the goal line here, and Memorial might take their last time out
just to talk about this play withfour seconds remaining, That's what they look
like. They're just kind of standingaround right now, and I think they

(01:00:44):
I'm assuming that's what they want todo. We had the play clock has
gone I believe at least as started. Obviously, the game clock is not.
Jeff Lenahan is talking through his radioto his back judge. Right now
about that, and again the clock'snot running. I don't really know why
Memorial was taking a lot of time. Maybe they wanted to see how North
was lining up or how they movearound a little bit. But North was

(01:01:05):
not giving him much and they willtake the time out. So that's the
way it sets up. I'll haveone more play in all likelihood here at
the end of the first half. It's Oak Claire North fourteen O Claire Memorial
zero four seconds remaining, third andten from the Memorial party from the North
thirty two yard lot. Again, you are listening in here to North versus
Memorial, to Cross Town showdown allright here on Classic Rock ninety two one,

(01:01:29):
fwm q mnomene O Claire, ChipwellFalls Rock nine two one dot com
and of course the iHeartRadio app andagain a little happy to have you along
with us here the second half aswell. At halftime we'll take an extent
of break. We'll also come back. We'll give you all the names of
the players who were part of thefirst game that happened between these two teams
back in nineteen sixty three. They'reall honored before today's game kind of a

(01:01:51):
cool moment. They had a picnickind of cook out type of deal before
the game as well here at CarsonPark. So here we go out of
the time out. No timeouts remainfor the Apes. Four seconds remain as
Homeburg goes back to pass, looksthe ends and they only got crushed.
Is that a fumble or an incompletion? They're calling it an incompletion. He
was absolutely crushed on the play byPenneger and it is called an incompletion.

(01:02:13):
They say the arm was going forward, the whistle blew and that is the
end. Because if that was notan incompletion, Dan, that was going
to be a scooping score there forMaddox Girks, and we could have seen
a three touchdown lead from Earth's goinginto half times. Oh yeah, definitely.
There's nothing more demoralizing as an offensivelineman than letting a three man rush
get in and almost get a sack. That was really terrible collapsed by the

(01:02:37):
defensive line to not even let theirquarterback get a free get up one throw
off with four seconds left to go. Yeah, Penneger absolutely got absolutely crushed
Homeberg on that play and ends itwith an exclamation point for oau Claire North.
It's the Huskies who were out infront fourteen to nothing here on Oak
Claire Memorial, trying to get theirfirst win in this rivalry since back in

(01:03:00):
two thousand and eight. They havetwenty four or more minutes to try to
do it. We'll see if theykem will take an extent a break.
Like we said, when we comeback, we'll talk about that team,
the players that were here and thecoaches that we're here from the nineteen sixty
three Memorial and North teams to participatein the first game in this rivalry sixty
years that we're celebrating here today. All Right, take an extend a break.

(01:03:22):
We'll get you some halftime scorers inplenty plenty more coming up. It's
o Claire North fourteen O Claire Memorialnothing, and you are listening right here
on Classic Rock ninety two one.The halftime show is Pete Canuton is next.
This is ou Claire High School Footballon Classic Rock ninety two one.

(01:03:42):
Your home for the Huskies is ClassicRock ninety two one. And welcome back
once again here two Carson Park.As we get set for the start of
half number two between Oak Claire Northand oak Clare Memorial. It's O Clare
North fourteen and oh Claire Memorial.Nothing here at half time. North trying
to pick off Memorial for the firsttime since two thousand and eight. We'll

(01:04:03):
talk plenty more about that throughout thissecond half. He Kadots and Danzons with
Yshansacabac in studio Dan that first half, Oaklare and North had the better drives,
more sustained drives. But I thinkthe thing that really stood out to
me from North from a defensive standpoint. I mentioned it near the end of
the half. On defense, especiallythe secondary, if they shut down the

(01:04:25):
passing game pretty well. For Memorial, they had guys just absolutely flying to
the ball in the secondary and thesafety spots in the corner positions. And
for Oaklare Memorial, their success onoffense, I thought came when it was
on the ground. They really didn'tdo a whole lot of through the air.
It was more Simmons on the ground. He was probably there their highlight.
Oh yeah, and North. Thatwas one of the things I was

(01:04:46):
looking for to see if Oak ClaireNorth was gonna do a change and focus
more on the passing side of theon their defensive intensity, and they did.
They did, they got to thequarterback, they didn't. They haven't
gotten a sack yet, but theyhave gotten some strong defensive pressure up front.
And then as you've said, especiallyGertz. Gertz has been flying around

(01:05:09):
the field. He almost had two. He almost had two picks there.
He probably should have had two picksif that other one wasn't reversed. However,
I'm not the referees, so I'mnot gonna I'm not gonna claim anything.
Yeah, he came up close andyou're right, I mean, there's
the other one there. You couldprobably say, yeah, you should have
had two more as well, missedone that kind of skipped off the ground

(01:05:30):
as well or got close to theground also. But yeah, I mean
the safeties were really good. Andas you look at the overall stats in
that first half, again, theguy that stands off the page for memorial
really to me was Simmons running theball. I thought he was pretty effective.
He's a pretty good counter to Olsenon the other side. Right,
both those running backs very very good, but Simmons having a little bit of
a breakout here. Just it feltlike like memory almost felt like they had

(01:05:51):
to be passing more so I guesswe're gonna get away from him. But
when Simmons was running well, thatwas probably the best their offense was.
Oh yeah, it gave them anotherlayer, another layer to their offense that
they don't usually have. As youcan tell from their first two games where
they threw for five hundred and sixtynine yards. They are trying to mix
it up a little bit and Simmonsis that big punch that needs to get

(01:06:14):
going, and he has been going, and he's been the reason they've been
able to sustain some drives. Buton the flip side, the passing game
has been the reason that they've turnedover the ball two times and almost a
third time here while there's only beenone really big chunk play and that was
from tay Ferguson on the sideline here. Yeah, you look at the two
scoring plays Oaklare North. Their firstdrive, starting at their own forty three

(01:06:34):
yard line, went eight plays fiftyseven yards. McCracken threw to his tight
end Jensen for a five yard touchdownpass made it six to nothing in favor
of North, and then North withfive thirty one left to go in the
second quarter, went on over afour minute drive that resulted in a one
yard touchdown run for ty Schoff wouldcome into the game four cam ols.
Remember Wilson again came out a littlebit near the end of the half.

(01:06:55):
We saw him limp off the fieldthis time last week it was heat exhaustion.
Hopefully that's not the problem he's experiencethis week and that he's able to
go here in this second half. Both teams are back out ready to receive
the kicks. A couple other notes, Remember we mentioned that they're honoring the
nineteen sixty three teams for both theseteams memorials head coach in fact in Tim

(01:07:15):
Bolinger was here along with the multipleother players including Dave Robertson the quarterback from
that memorial squad, and we sawmultiple other folks from Oaklare North or who
were here, Jerry Strand, GaryEvanson and a many authors who try to
reach you some of those names also. But really cool that they're honoring a
sixty year anniversary of this again, the sixty first matchup between these two squads

(01:07:41):
here tonight, and again they'll notbe in the Big Rivers next year,
but they'll both be together so thatmeans they're playing again, and that will
always be a lot of fun nextseason as well. But North trying to
win for the first time in fourteentries. Fifteen tries. I suppose he's
around a fourteen game losing streak againstMemorial. Coming in, it'll be more
able to kick off here in thethird quarter. They'll kick from right to
left. North will move from leftto right. This kick is headed for

(01:08:01):
the out of bound stripe and that'sexactly where it'll go. And so OA
Claire North will get very good fieldpositions starting at their own thirty five yard
line, and not the way tostart if you're a Memorial, I'll tell
you that much. You're already downfourteen nothing and now they're gonna be giving
ou Claire North a pretty good fieldposition here. So let's see if oau
Claire North will continue that momentum thatthey had in the first half. Yeah,

(01:08:25):
again, when they were playing well, they did a really nice job
balancing their plays right, They mixedit up between Olsen. They also kind
of, you know, got McCrackenout in motion. They got him out.
He's sort of in the bootleg andthrowing down field. And we saw
plenty of catches made by Brady Jensen. There's a conversation here, I think
about what hash mark they want theball to stay on. You don't have

(01:08:46):
to have that ball be put rightin the middle of the hash mark.
So they'll come over to Oaklare Northand come over to the sideline and ask
which hash mark they would like iton. As that kick went out of
bound. So at halftime, acouple other scores as well on our out
of town scoreboard here again that isbrought to you by Otto King, and

(01:09:08):
it was Manominee twenty one nothing overSuperior at halftime, Hudson seven to nothing
over Chipwood halftime, and New Richmondtwenty to nothing over River Falls at halftime
as well. All right, soon the near hash mark is where they'll
go. One receiver partmy two receiversto the left, one to the right
here for him acracking and the shotgun. He does have Olson in the game
with him to his left. He'llgive it to Olson, tries to bounce

(01:09:29):
it out on the edge and hewill pull over two defenders up to the
forty yard line. He absolutely runsstraight through Zach Higden first and I was
taken down at the forty yard line, and that was Dane Noel who came
in to finish it off. Butboy did not take the brunt there.
Higden took the worst end of thatone. It's a five yard game,
second and five to the forty andOlson looks just like how we left him

(01:09:51):
when he went into the when hewent off the field because of a limp.
He just came. He's right backon here and he's already still running
like he's just let out lucive acannon. Fifty eight yards now for Olson
on twelve attempts in the game.Trying to get you a few of those
other halftime stats as well. I'llgo two receivers left, one right again,

(01:10:13):
same formation, mccrackin. When thepistol has got Olson behind him,
he'll give it to him. Now. Trying to run around the left edge
to the forty Eastiff arms a defenderbut then has taken down by him at
the forty two yard line. Goodjobs staying with a tackle there by Nolan
onhum We've called his name a lot. He's been good on the defensive side
for Memorial. And here comes Olsonagain and sayway's limping, but I think
he's just got his shoe in hishand there. That one came off on
that tackle, and I wonder ifthat shoe might have caused some issues before

(01:10:38):
too. The rogue shoe rode shoeRolson. Third and three now here from
their own forty two yard line, eating the forty five for a first down.
Is North fourteen to nothing. Husky'sleaded. Remember this was the time
where they gave up all those touchdowns. The logan last week twenty one unanswered
by shouldn't say unanswered, but twentyone straight points rather from Logan to take

(01:10:59):
that twenty eight fourteen lead over them. So this is kind of that danger
zone almost that we saw from Northlast week. Two receivers right, one
left on the far hash left orright. They go third and three from
the forty two yard line. Mccrackin in the pistol apartment in the shotgun
formation. He will fake the handoff to Bean, rolls to his right.
It's out to Jensen, caught atthe forty two to the forty five
fort He got blockers down field andhe lowers his shoulder into the defender into

(01:11:21):
memorial territory. That's Locking who pusheshim out of bounds, but not before
big gaining a first down, andit's looking like Brady Jensen is a little
bit of pain. He leant alittle bit too when after he had caught
the ball and kind of gave itback to the official. But man has
he at Trooper He has been theirnumber one receiving thread out there. Yeah.

(01:11:42):
He again took the big push rightthere with that shoulder right into locking
as he went out of bounds, gets the forty eight of the old ads.
It's a gain at ten ten oheight left to go. Third quarter,
oh Claire North fort teen o ClaireMemorial nothing pistol formation again. This
is Bean as the tailback. Tworeceivers right and one left on the near
hash. Mark McCracken takes the snaphandoff, goes to Bean looking to go

(01:12:05):
around the right edge of the fortyfive. Cuts it up at the forty
spun around near the thirty seven yardline. I think he's got enough for
the first down. We'll see wherethey mark him out of bounds. It
is close. You have not movedthe chains yet. Jeff Lenahan is looking
to that far sideline and they're gonnacall that second and inches now up to

(01:12:27):
the thirty eight yard line. Boy, it looks like he's got it from
my perspective, but they're gonna sayhe's just short. Yeah, literally just
half an half an inch shot. You're not kidding, Nah, that's a
gene sterotory index card situation. Ifyou ever saw one second and an inch
maybe two receivers right, one lefthere four north being in the pistol again
with McCracken's it's the feeling of anotherhandoff. I'm sure to try to convert

(01:12:51):
and see if they maybe take ashot here. Now they'll give it to
Bean or on the right edge. He's got the first down in more to
the thirty five and again just tiptoeingthe side near the thirty yard line easily
has the first Say he stepped outof bounds at the thirty two, So
just a six yard gain and afirst down here for the Huskies. And
it didn't look like much, butman did that that had some intensity there.

(01:13:14):
Being kind of went right around thatgreat blocking by the way on the
far right side to kind of openup running angle for Bean to come in.
And then he just lowered his shoulderand trucked right through a defender to
get maybe a half a yard more. He is running hard out there.
Again. I think I may havementioned this last week against Logan. You
know Oaklare North, when they wereon that fifty one game losing streak for

(01:13:35):
all those years that they snapped acouple of years ago. You know,
they wouldn't lower their shoulder, right, They wouldn't finish off contact. This
team, coached by Matt McGinnis isa different team. They finish off everything.
Every run is now back to passes. McCracken goes down the near sideline.
Rather it is up incomplete, alittle bit overthrown. I think even
if Johnson had come down with thatball, he likely comes down out of

(01:13:56):
bounds, but just a little goroute there and not a bad idea incomplete
second and ten. No, hehad the matchup he wanted there, Johnson
the speedster flying right down the sideline. He just he tried doing what he's
done before and kind of put itin the spot where only the receiver could
get it. But this time itwas just way too close to that out
of bounds line. A little toofar there again would have been about the

(01:14:17):
ten yard line, but again itwas a good couple of yards out of
bounds where Johnson was trying to goup to get that ball. Two receivers
go left, Johnson to the rightpistol formation. Olson is back in it,
running back McCracken in the shotgun thirtytwo yard line, second and ten,
win the ball, well, fourteenand nothing. Husky's with the lead
here on the old age handoff rightup the middle of Olson finding a hole

(01:14:38):
on the right side, spitting downacross the thirty and he lunges forward up
near the twenty eight, maybe thetwenty seven, and it will be third
and five, maybe third and sixhere when they spot the ball here for
ou Claire North Glazer, her Glazergetting the tackle call. IM a senior
linebacker for Memorial. Her Memorial hasstruggled to really stop this North attack at

(01:15:03):
times, especially with Olson out thererunning well. It's kind of shades at
their last game they let up overtwo hundred yards rushing and their last outing,
and I thought they maybe want ashirt up a little more. But
now they're kind of getting away fromthat. Two receivers right, one left
near hash left or right. Theygoes third and six. They need to

(01:15:25):
get to about the twenty two yardline for a first down hand off to
Olson, cuts to the twenty five. He's got the first down to more
Dragon, a tackler across the twentyand he's ripped down near the seventeen yard
line, tackle made by Blake Onoman, but not before he gets big yardage
in a first down on a gainof about eleven and just great awareness there

(01:15:45):
by Olson to weave around the defendersand make a big play. He's been
making big place tonight, and evenafter that injury, he's still looking spry
as ever. These long drives, they've been the key here for North tonight.
There scoring drives of eight plays fiftyseven yards back in the first and
then a seventy eight yard drive nearthe end of that second quarter has oak

(01:16:06):
Clare North up fourteen to nothing, and they are threatening again here at the
seventeen yard line of Memorial with eighttwenty nine left to play in the third
quarter. In the clock running Olsonto the left, McCracken in the shotgun,
one receiver right, two to theleft. He will give it to
Olsen, counters up the middle. He said the fifteen to the ten and
drives a tackle up near the nine, maybe the eight, as he again

(01:16:27):
got late tackling there. Brennan willKovak is the man there, and it's
about an eight yard game second andtwo, and you've got to believe fatigue
setting in for this team now, multiple long drives for Oa Claire North to
just do whatever they want and getwhatever they want down field, and if
nothing else, like you say,I mean sure physically, but mentally as

(01:16:49):
well, right, I mean, you're just going backwards on defense, which
no matter what sport you're going in, it just kind of breaks you down
mentally as well. Seven forty fourremains here in the third quarter, second
and two from the nine yard linehere for North, in deep into Memorial
territory. Another give to Olson aroundthe right edge, gets tackled and grabbled

(01:17:11):
up there in the backfield. Theinitial hit was Johnson. He didn't get
the tackle, but he was theone who bounced him back. That's gonna
be a loss of a couple backnear the ten, maybe the eleven yard
line, and it'll be third andnow a much more able to stop type
of third down here for Memorial onthe third and four. And that was
just a great job by the linebackersof Memorial. They're all all filling up

(01:17:35):
the gaffs. So there's just absolutelynowhere to go for Olson. And we
know Olson can run through some players, but you're not gonna be able to
go through every single linebacker out there. I'll still just four yards to go,
but a little bit more difficult herenow for the Huskies. We know
in this situation last week they kindof were hesitant to throw the ball.
I'm sure they want to give thisto Olson again, and they need the

(01:17:56):
seven ball at the eleven yard linenear Hash they go left or right on
your radio dial, six forty fiveleft to go in the third quarter,
they will fake the GiB to Olsenlooking toward the end zone. That has
batted up in the air and it'sintercepted by Memorial and about the one yard
line. I think that was touchedand maybe tipped at the line. The
interception will go. I believe soBryce Headkey, but we'll check for sure.

(01:18:21):
Yeah, it was head Key whogets the interception. He went down.
They're trying to return it at thetwo yard line, so Memorial'll be
backed up. That's a big stopfor the Old Age. Ye oh yeah.
And that's a huge momentum swing therefor the Age, and they desperately
needed it. They were just we'rejust talking about how this might be mentally
affecting them going backwards and backwards andbackwards. But they finally got that stop

(01:18:42):
on defense and on a plate thatlooked interesting to say the least. It
came out of McCracken's hand, funny, That's why I thought it might have
been tipped. But if it wasn't, it was just kind of a dead
duck sort of wobbling around there, and he almost tipped it to himself there
did head key and ended up withthe interception. And he wasn't even really
the receiver that Bett McCracken was aimingfor. There wasn't even turned around on

(01:19:05):
that play either. Yeah, it'ssomething a little bit messed up on that
play, I think for North andNow it is memorial. Starting with six
thirty seven here on their own twoyard line left to play in the third
quarter, hand off to Simmons.Up the guy. He's got a big
hole. He's across the five andtaking down near the ten yard line.
That was a nice hole that openedup just to give him some breathing room

(01:19:26):
out near the ten. That's again of about seven on first down and
that's a good start for Simmons,or sorry, not Simmons, Locking Locking,
That's a good start for Locking. He had a good punch up through
the middle, and just need moredrives like that. Starting at their own

(01:19:46):
two yard line, second and threeyear from the ten, four, Memorial
Holmberg back of the shotgun, tworeceivers out to the left. He will
give it to Simmons on a counterright to left, looking for a hole.
He's got it out near the tenand spun down across the fifteen up
near the sixteen yard line. TyShoff comes up to make the tackle,
but not before he gets the firstdown of about eight yards on the play.

(01:20:08):
And that is exactly what Memorial needed, just to give him some space.
And now they can really get intotheir offense and start to work.
And the thing is they're only downby fourteen points. They could potentially do
the old oad Claire North and justkind of methodically move the ball down field
with Simmons, with their trio ofrunning backs that they have. I think
that's a question, dan Is,is you know, will Memorial get impatient,

(01:20:30):
will they start to throw the ball? When they did that, that
was when they got into trouble inthat first half. But yeah, if
they stick with Simmons and they're runningback attack here, they certainly can get
back into this game. There's plentyof time left, five twenty left to
go here. In this third quarter, they send a man in motion left
to right across the formation. Holmbergonce again has Simmons to his left,
and he will give it to himagain, countering right to left to the

(01:20:51):
twenty to the twenty five taken downright there on another shoe string style tackle
from Nerts. But I tell youwhat you know, sim gets the ball,
he stops on a dime and cutsreally really nicely. That's where his
damage has been done, as hegets a run of eight on that play.
Yeah, and even though he's abig guy, he can he really
makes those snappy stops and cuts, and he can move pretty quickly too.

(01:21:15):
When he's in that open field. You just gotta see if they'll get him
more in that open field. Yeah, I keep saying countering. I don't
think all these plays are designed counters. I think a lot of that is
just kind of Simmons improvising. Asthey give it up the gut. That
should be enough for a first downup to the twenty eight yard line.
There was not a lot of improvisingthere. That's just let Simmons go be
a big running back and get threeyards when you need to. And it's
another first down here for the oldage. And yeah, I mean,

(01:21:40):
like you said, for the improvisationthrough Simmons, he's had his blind breakdown
multiple times and even in the especiallyin the first half, we've seen it
with the path, especially with thepass plays, and that's why I'm thinking
they're moving more towards the run justto see if they can get Simmons on
some either plays in the outsider, especially plays in the middle where he's gonna
be a bruiser. Yeah, newrunning back in there as well. I

(01:22:01):
believe that's Wigel who's into the game. Just to give Simmons a little bit
of a breather, They'll give itto Wigel bouncing out around the right edge
at the twenty five, gets tothe thirty, dragging a tackler with him,
and he's taken down at the thirtyone yard line. So about a
three yard gain on first down.As we took under four minutes leup to
play in the third quarter, it'sOak Claire North fourteen, Oak Claire Memorial.
Nothing but memorial moving the ball hereout of their own end zone and

(01:22:24):
now in the decent field position. And if you're a Memorial, you'd like
to see that. It wasn't thatbig of a run, but Weigel kept
pushing. At the end of it, he got stopped kind of towards like
after a yard ish and then justkind of pushed a little bit more and
threw itself around to get an extrayard on that two receivers go out left
for Holmberg. He sends a manin motion right to left. That's the

(01:22:45):
tight end across the formation. Andsecond and seven he'll give it off to
Wigel trying to go left and heis wrapped up in the backfield. That
is a great open field tackle bymister Frederick. Again, that is Taylor
Frederick on the stop a mina lostone back to the thirty yard line.
It'll be third and eight now forthe old age of three zero four the
clock running left to go here inthe third quarter Oakleare North fourteen Memorial.

(01:23:09):
Nothing and just a great read byFrederick to hit that gap when it's slightly
open. He even pushed. Hepushed that pushed off that offensive linement with
his left arm and just made thatgrabbed it around, grabbed around, wiggle
on with his right arm, andthen finally pulled him down with his left
arm. Simmons now back into thegame and running back. Three receivers split

(01:23:29):
out, trips right, and they'regonna pass the ball. Here Holmberg rolling
to his right. He is wrappedup and he is thrown down. I
think they're gonna call him down.He tried to get rid of it and
throw it for but they say hewas in the grass back near the twenty
three yard line. That's gonna bea loss of seven on the sack on
the play and digging him backwards thereas kay Johnson, I want a play

(01:23:50):
there for the old or for theHuskies. And again a big play in
a big situation. And now Memorial'sgot a punt, and that's just hard
to see if you're a Memorial fan. They had something going there for a
bit. They were slowly methodically movingthat ball up field. It wasn't it
wasn't going very quickly, but theywere moving. They were getting at some

(01:24:11):
chunk plays. Then two wrong stepsand now they're back to punting again.
Mulling back to punt and he willbarely get rid of it. Kind of
a knuckler here that's gonna take amemorial bounce at the forty yard line of
North and roll all the way insidethe thirty yard line and down near the
twenty eight yard line, flips thefield. That's a forty seven yard punt
with the wind at his back, and that does flip the field, and

(01:24:32):
now North takes over at their owntwenty eight And it's gonna be interesting to
see what Oa Claire and North heredoes on this drive, because you want
to run down the clock a littlebit, but you don't want to get
too conservative out there and have whathappened last game where they allowed almost almost
a twenty one nothing come back fromLogan for a bit. So I would

(01:24:56):
expect them to do a little bitof the run attack and a pass attack
kind of like we have been seeinginstead of just a full just run run,
run, And how big Dan iswinning that game last week, because
you know, if they lose thatgame last week, all of a sudden,
something like this happens. Hey we'vegot a lead third quarter that all
of a sudden, you get negativethoughts in your head. But you know,
they won that game last week,so they can think a little bit

(01:25:16):
about that, but hey, wewon anyway, right, we've got that
good positive mental image in our headas well as McCracken's ready to go from
his own twenty nine yard line. Two receivers right, one left handoff goes
to Olson. But there's nothing therereally well contained out on the edge and
boy, I feel like a brokenrecord, but it's Luke Johnson again,
who is the man blowing that upin the backfield. Others who were in

(01:25:38):
on the stop were Higden as wellas Noel, but Johnson has just been
all over the place. Oh yeah, definitely. Especially that left side has
been nothing for Old Claire North. They've been trying to kind of get something
started over there because they had alittle bit of success running or not the
left side of the right side. They've had a little bit more success running
on that right side in that firsthalf, but just nothing really going started

(01:26:01):
off right or nothing really going atthe end of the third quarter, and
I think you are right, Dan, and they aren't running some clock here.
We're down to one fourteen left togo in the third quarter. Husky's
leading fourteen nothing back. Judge stillhas put his arm in the air.
There he goes ten seconds left onthe play clock. I don't think we'll
see a snap here until the countcomes. And there it goes from the
back judge mccrack and takes the snap, hyends off on the counterplate to Olson.

(01:26:21):
Man he's tripped up by Johnson inthe backfield for a loss of two
at the twenty seven yard line.So no gain and then a loss of
two, and you can give thoseboth to Luke Johnson and out's third and
twelve. And boy, you wereright right on it there, Dan the
idea that you just can't get tooconserved. There's way too much time left
with a two touchdown lead, andNorth is kind of sat into that position

(01:26:44):
right now. Yeah, there's aliteral whole quarter to go here. We're
not in the it's not like there'sthirty seconds left in this game. There's
a full They got a full otherquarter left in this You gotta kind of
keep up that momentum. So Iwould see if I would think they'd throw
a pass here instead of just kindof handed up the middle to Olson.
But we'll see what they do,because that did end in an interception for

(01:27:05):
them last time. Yeah, let'ssee if they do go to the air.
They need the thirty nine for firstdownball at their own twenty seven,
third and twelve, two receivers right, one left. McCracken takes a snap,
he rolls to his right, throwsright. It is caught by Jensen,
but not nearly enough. Maybe atwo yard one yard game out on
the edge. It was a safepass, and once again Luke Johnson was

(01:27:26):
out giving some coverage out there onthe edge as well. He is just
all over the field, the sixfoot four, two hundred and ten pounds
junior defensive lineman. Yeah, hehas just been a thorn in the north
side today. Everywhere you turn,it's just Johnson right there, right there.
And you know, an interesting setthing there. He went out of
bounds. There's four seconds left onthe clock, so they're gonna have to

(01:27:47):
punt into the wind here rather thanget that clock down. At the end
of the third switch fields and theyget the wind at your back, so
punking to go into the wind herea bit dark back to return and almost
block that is another knuckler that's gonnadie at about the fifty yard line.
Almost hit an old abe. Nowit takes a little bit of a north
roll to the Memorial forty nine yardline, but that was again right dead

(01:28:09):
into the wind. And that isthe end of the third quarter. So
no points for either team in thatthird. Twelve minutes remain as o Claire
North tries to beat Memorial for thefirst time in fifteen tries. We'll see
if they do it. Run afterthis on Classic Rock. This is o

Your home for the old abs isClassic Rock two one. Welcome back in
here to Carson Park. Fourth quartercoming your way. It's Oaklare North fourteen

(01:29:18):
Oakland Memorial, Nothing Memorial gonna startoff the fourth quarter with the ball off
their own or at the fifty yardline, rather a throwing a slant play
caught at the fifth forty yard line, rather breaking a tackle at the thirty
five and up there the thirty threeyard line, goes the receiver take Ferguson
on the slant route, and that'sa big play to start it out here
for Memorial in company and a firstdown on the seventeen yard game Johnson,

(01:29:43):
and just a great read there byHolberg to find Ferguson Wright in that gap
on that little slant route and justhit him right on the money. That's
kind of that's the kind of momentumshift that you need if you're Memorial.
It really was. They needed abig play and they, excuse me,
they got it. The two receiversleft went out to the right, ball
on the ear hash left to righthere sort of into the wind a bit

(01:30:04):
in this fourth quarter for the oldage, but we are forty seconds into
the quarter with North up by twotouchdowns. Another slant route caught again out
across the twenty end down near thefifteen yard line, goes Ferguson. Two
slant routes, one from right toleft. This one from left to right,
and they are getting some big chunkshere up to the fifteen yard line.
I mean that's thirty five yards ontwo plays. Oh yeah, just

(01:30:28):
exactly what they needed to do.They had already lulled them into a thinking
that they're gonna just completely run thisentire game, and now they're finally showing
that they're a passing team here inthis fourth quarter, Ferguson splits out wide
to the right. He's made thelast two catches for thirty five yards.
It was a rough first half fourHomeburg, but bouncing back nicely here got
Simmons to his right. He willgive it to him. He cuts at

(01:30:50):
the fifteen, has a hold ofthe ten, then tripped up near the
eight yard line. See who gotthe final tackle on him there. Nonetheless,
it's a d decent gain and nowit'll be second and short here for
a memorial because they are inside theten, threatening to score for the first
time tonight. And this is exactlywhy you don't go hyper conservative on this

(01:31:14):
on offense at all, even whenyou have such a short lead like this.
They're not blowing him up by liketwenty eight or anything. It's fourteen
nothing, there's still plenty of time, so this could be Simmons time right
now. Shamar Simmons are running backthe ball middle half. She's off to
the right offset of Holmburg in theshotgun, one receiver left, two to
the right, second and four fromthe ten. It goes back to pass
and stead Homeburg for the backquarter ofthe end zones up and it's caught touchdown

(01:31:36):
and went right over the defender thereand caught for the touchdown Julius Clark and
it is fourteen to six Huskies, and just like that the old age with
some wife here in the fourth quarter. And Clark's been really quiet this game
for the most part. So seeingthat I've that moss as they call as
us young people call it a moss, he grabbed that ball right over the

(01:31:59):
head of the defense there and juststared him down. After he caught that
touchdown, he wanted that one.Fourteen to six. I'll on his on
to attempt the extra point once again. The holder is ferguson some rough goings
with their field goal attempt earlier. This snap though, is good. Spot
is good, the kick is up. It is good. Fourteen to seven

(01:32:19):
Huskies with the lead nine fifty eightleft to play here in the fourth corner.

Huskies is Classic Rock. Ye aquick score from Holberg to Clark, nine
yard touchdown pass fourteen to seven. Now North with the lead on Memorial.
As Memorial gets on the board withnine fifty eight remaining here in the fourth
quarter, but Old Claire North,we'll get the ball back on this kickoff.
We'll see if they can burn someclock, maybe score another here to

(01:33:30):
try to get them a little bitmore breathing room. But we got a
ball game on our hands. Wetake a look at the out of town
scoreboard, brought to you once againby Otto King. It's Hudson thirteen.
Chip Will Falls nothing that one inthe fourth quarter. Late in the third,
Minomi leads thirty five to seven overSuperior, and again late in the
third New Richmond not leading twenty eightto thirteen. Is River Falls trying to
make a comeback there in that contest. We're seeing a potential comeback here for

(01:33:55):
Old Claire Memorial as they get setto kick this one away, and it
is a low kind of line drive, squib type of kick received at the
fifteen yard line here by the Husky, So the twenty to the twenty five,
maybe the twenty seven yard line onthe returns returned by Solberg and off
we go twenty eight yard twenty sevenyard line. We'll call it is where

(01:34:17):
Oh Claire North will get this driveunderway, a very conservative drive their last
time out, Dan and they gotto go a little bit different route you'd
imagine here if they want to tryto maintain this league. Yeah, just
a lot of just a lot ofrunning and then not a great final result
of that drive, especially having topunt in the winds too and give a

(01:34:41):
Memorial not their best starting field positionthat they've gotten all night, but definitely
still a good starting field position andresulting in the Ads just marching right down
the field and scoring a touchdown. And we talk about it so many times.
I mean, obviously the North kids. The lot has been made of
this rivalry this week by the localmedia by w q WWAU, certainly about

(01:35:02):
this being the sixtieth anniversary sixty firstgame. Of course, Memorial is dominated
as this is a handoff to Olsenup the gut, pretty decent run here
across the thirty and then he's pushedup near the thirty five yard line,
tackled on the play by Memorials ZachHigden, but not before a seven yard
gain. But go back to mypoint there again, it was a lot
made about this and the North kidsthey know, right, they know that

(01:35:24):
they're on a fourteen game losing streak. Anytime you're on a streak like that
and you get a new position towin, all of a sudden, maybe
those demons of pressure starts getting.I know the kids weren't part of all
those losses, but that can certainlycreep into your head Cannon. Oh yeah,
definitely. I mean back in highschool, that's kind of same thing
that we had to deal with.We weren't on the greatest of all teams,
but we had a really poor teamand we wanted to get some wins

(01:35:47):
out there and break a seven gamelosing streak, which we ended up doing.
But that pressure to that you seethe finish line before you actually get
there. Sometimes though it might behow ol Cleare North's going right now,
here's a hand once again to Olsonup the gut. He's got the first
down of the forty bulls over adefender to the forty four yard line,
was tackled by that man that hehit pretty hard on that right side.

(01:36:09):
That was Blake Animan again on thetackle, but not before he gets to
the forty four yard line for afirst down and a steady dose of cam
Olson here is. You might imagine, remember that last drive he got kind
of bottle up at the line. This time they're gonna just give him the
ball right downhill, a gap typestuff, and that's the way Olson will
pick up some yardage and memorials. Not doing that same defense that they had

(01:36:30):
last time. They kind of hadlike almost a five man front right now,
it's kind of like a mixture ofa four and five ish man front.
But right now they've only got fourguys out on that line, so
they're almost up now five five withthat outside linebacker coming in number twenty one
on that outside edge. I'll seeif they pack it up there forty four
yard line they will go from It'llbe Olson again trying to bounce around the

(01:36:51):
right left edge. Forty five stiffarms a defender taken down near the fifty,
they'll give him the forty nine.About a five yard game, and
again you see the old names. They're kind of clamoring. They want that
edge hold called. Haven't gotten calledsince early in this game. Another one
though, that was close. Andthis is a five yard game. Second
in five now here for the Huskies. No, And there's only been a

(01:37:13):
few penalties called actually this game.I think there's only one recorded on that
first in the first half actually, and then other than the kicking ones,
there hasn't been very much other thanthat. Yeah, I think you're right.
It's been a relatively clean game.At least the officials have kept the
laundry in their pockets for the mostpart. Seven thirty seven remains fourteen to
seven. Huskies lead second and fivefrom their own forty nine yard line.

(01:37:36):
Once again, the pistol will handit off to Olson. Olson looking left,
he's got a hole enough for afirst down and more across the forty
five they're trying to strip the ball. Memorial is saying that they have it.
Let's see who comes out of thepile here. Olson. It never
really looked like the ball popped up, but I think they're moving the chains
here and Olson I believe still hasthe ball a least the ball the officials

(01:38:00):
hands. Now it's a first downacross the forty five and it's a first
down here for the Huskies. Interesting. I think it was just some Memorial
extracurriculum there, because you have threedifferent defenders trying to tear at that ball
there. Maybe something jolted out,but it was definitely after he had pretty
much been called down. Whoever teachestheir persuasion class there might be getting a
raise. I don't know. Therewas some. It had me persuaded that

(01:38:23):
their at least was something happening there. Clock ticking under seven minutes left to
play here in the fourth quarter, fourteen to seven, Huskies with the lead.
First down from the Memorial forty fourish yard line, just inside the
forty five low snap handoff to Olsen, countering left to right. He's got
a yard maybe two to the fortythree. In fact, they're gonna give
him a little extra here. Helunged up across the forty two maybe the

(01:38:45):
forty one. Well, he gota little extra yard or two there from
just kind of keeping his knees andhis elbows off the ground and kind of
lunging forward. Yeah, And that'skind of how he's been running for most
of this night too. He's justkind of whenever they stop him, whenever
it seems like they've opped him there, he just kind of gets a little
extra churn, a little extra fight. He's definitely got, as they say,
he's got that dog in him.Yes he does. And second and

(01:39:10):
six coming up. His fourteen toseven Huskies lead the old Age six twelve
left to play here in the fourthquarter. It might have been off side
here and no call. Hand offto Olson again, just trying to trot
around the left side. He runsright into thirty eight yard line, runs
right into Higden again and gets afew yards up to the forty or probably
the thirty seven yard lines. Letme be third and about three year for

(01:39:32):
Old Claire North needing to get itjust past the thirty five yard line,
and there he goes again, justchurning in his legs, just keeps on
pumping it forward, and they areactually moving the ball surprisingly well with how
their last drive had ended. Withthat, this is exactly what the doctor
ordered. The camis kind of drivemethodical, burn a bunch of clock when

(01:39:55):
you're up by a touchdown like OldClaire North is fourteen to seven, five
twenty seven remains in the game.Snap taken, handoff given to Olsen looking
for the edge. He is upended and he did not get it.
He's taken down at the thirty sixyard line. What an open field tackle
there on the play by Julius Clark, and he'll be a yard or two
short. And boy, if thisisn't decision time, I don't know what

(01:40:16):
is. They have to go forit here. They need they need to
somehow get that first out and Ibelieve of maybe a fake run pass option
might be in play here, justto maybe throw get Memorial off their maybe
get Memorial out of their own head. See coach McGinnis is over by the

(01:40:38):
official here in case they don't getthis playoff to take a time out.
I mean you could see a poochpunt here that could be something right to
try to pin him. But it'sfourth and over a yard that they need
to get. They need to getit past the thirty five balls right at
the thirty six cut starting from theback judge here. They need to get
this playoff and it will be atime out take and you could sell match.
Matt McGinnis was right there and hecould tell the official was about to

(01:41:00):
blow that whistle and call a delaya game. So he'll take a time
out and I'll tell you what we'lltake it as well. It cuts our
breath forth and a yard and ahalf coming up here for North right after
this. On Classic rockety two one, this is oh clear high school football.

again, Come on company, Yourhome for the old apes is Classic Rock

showdown North and Memorial Northport team Memorialseven, four thirty two left to go
fourth and a yard and a halffour North at the Memorial thirty six yard

(01:42:10):
line. And here we go down. This is big stuff right here.
Let's see what North has dialed up. One receiver right, one left.
Olson is a tailback pistol formation againand with a hard count there now they
will give the handoff. Olson's gota whole had the first down. He
spins out of a tackle across thethirty It up near the twenty seven yard
line, and that is a nineyard game when they needed a yard and

(01:42:30):
a half. And I imagine there, Dan that coach McGinnis challenged the right
side of line, So you gotto open up a hole for this young
man. And that is exactly whatthey did. Oh yeah, and especially
because they were doing that out ofthe shotgun makes it even more interesting.
They had him him about a fullyard off and just perfect, perfect blocking.
As a former authentive lineman, youlove to see it. I mean

(01:42:53):
it was that was a hole thatmy eye might have had a chance to
run through there as well. Thatwas exactly what North needed that situation.
Twenty seven yard line out, firstand ten. The clock continues to take
under four minutes left to play Northby a touchdown hand off to Olson going
left, dragging tacklers. So thetwenty five not much more, it'll get
two and now a time out takenby Memorial. They're gonna start to try

(01:43:15):
to take their time outs and keepthe clock out. Is maybe a little
bit early to call those, ofcourse, obviously no two minute warning and
high school football, the clock doesstop on a first down still in high
school football. But you know, yeah three forty seventy understand it, Dan,
why they want to get the ballback when they do. But I
mean, you start burning time outsif there's another, you know, another

(01:43:36):
first down converted here. I meanNorth can take the clock down quiet ways
if they can get one more firstdown. Oh yeah, and also just
the fact that they're gonna have togo almost maybe even the full length of
the field too, So I cansee why they want to take their time
out so early here, considering theymight not get another chance to Right with

(01:43:57):
how Old Claire North has been runningthe football on with how Memorial has been
on offense, it's gonna be interesting, especially with their only the only offensive
Memorial has been able to garner uphas been on the ground for the most
part. Oh Claire North has notwon this game since two thousand and eight.
When they did win it in twothousand and eight, North had to
come from behind. They were downtwenty one to nineteen in the fourth quarter,

(01:44:18):
scored a late touchdown in that gametwenty five twenty one they won it.
That was the only win that Northhad all year. They were one
in eight that year. Brett Bodenbergwas eighteen of twenty eight in that game,
two hundred and six yards. Hethrough for four touchdowns and one pick.
That's how long ago it was forNorth names and I'm sure a number
of Husky students probably don't even recognizewho were part of that team that beat

(01:44:42):
Memorial that year. Here's a handoffout of the time out. Olsen counters
left to right, not much though, twenty four maybe the twenty three another
time out taken by the old Abes. It'll be third and about seven,
maybe six. In fact, itwill be seven. They get him at
the thirty four year apartment the twentyfour yard line. Officially, they'll need
to get to the seventeen for afirst down. I'll be interested. There's

(01:45:05):
three forty one left, Dan,I mean, if you don't get the
first down here, if you're North, but maybe pick up a couple of
yards. One does Memorial take theirlast time out to stop it or save
it for when they get the ballback? And two does North try to
kick the field goal with likely TommyPerkins, maybe Aaron Solberg another kick option

(01:45:26):
there, But we haven't seen afield goal attempt that long for Oklair North
this season, So a lot ofoptions coming up. This is a really
big third down because it might makethings really interesting here moving forward. And
they're also in the position to bethinking about going for it too. If
they could maybe pick up, likeyou said, a couple of yards,
maybe three yards at the minimum, they could potentially go for it and have

(01:45:47):
a real good chance of getting it. Too, three forty one remaining Oak
Claire North fourteen memorials seven, thirdand seven coming up here from the memorial
twenty four. They need the seventeenft down. Olsen is the back of
the pistol one receiver right one leftnear hash right to left. They go,
man, they got him to jumpoff side. Now there was a
little movement there from the quarterback inMcCracken as well. I think they've called

(01:46:13):
this on the old age, solet's listen in it. So he went
with the hard count. It isthird down despite what the official just said.
Jeff Lynne had that jump will markoff five yards and just like that
it is now third and about whattwo and a half or so here for

(01:46:33):
North. That makes things a lotdifferent. Really bad mental mistake there by
that defensive line up front. Theyreally wanted to get that hop out,
but that just costs them five yards. So here's McCracken again in the pistol
formation while he's tried a hardcount again, No, it'll give it to Olsen
instead, he has hit it theline and he is soup lex back.
Oh my goodness, what a tackleinside by Brendan Behoveac. He is a

(01:46:55):
loss of one back to about thetwenty one yard line, and there is
the final time him out take himby the old aves with three thirty seven
remaining, and you've got a fourthand maybe three or four are coming up
four O Claire North, and thisis I mean, this is pretty much
the game on the line here,Dan Oh, yeah, definitely. And

(01:47:16):
it's a sad thing to see.Someone didn't someone didn't pick up their person
because there was a big, wideopen hole ran through by the either the
fullback or the tight end. Idon't believe I remember who it was that
ran through, but there was apretty giant hole on that far right side
that I believe that they were gonnago to cam to. But he just

(01:47:36):
got right caught up in the backfieldbecause someone forgot to get their guy.
Yeah. I don't know how phobiacis a guy who gets forgotten. He's
two hundred and fifty pounds, sixfoot four and he come and came through
there again like he was shot outof a cannon and hits Olsen in the
backfield for a loss of one.So fall at the twenty memorial out of

(01:47:56):
timeouts, it's fourteen to seven OakClare North fourth and three from the twenty
yard line here for North. Now, they can't ice it if they get
a first down here, but theyget it very close with three thirty seven
remaining, ball game on the line, big moments here. Here's McCracken and
the shotgun. He will fake itto Olsen. He rolls out to his
right. He wants to run forit to the twenty. Well, vere's
the shoulder. He's got it upnear the fourteen, maybe the thirteen yard

(01:48:20):
line. That is a game ofsix at least, and they left it
in McCracken's hands. He runs forthe first down. They will wind the
clock with three twenty seven remaining. It's a first down again. Game can't
be ice yet, but boy,it's in North Sands at the moment,
up by a touchdown here with threeeighteen left to go. Oh yeah,

(01:48:40):
they control their own destiny right here. And that's the thing about Peyton McCracken
too. We talked about him beinga dual threat quarterback. We haven't seen
him run a ton this game, but man, when he does run,
he is absolutely elusive, versatile. He's all those adjectives out there on the
field. He came into the gamewith only nineteen yards rush officially on the
season, but you're right. Wesaw him run a few times last week

(01:49:02):
and was effective against Logan one receiverleft, one right on the far hash
right to left first and ten fromthe fourteen yard line, hand off to
Olson left side. He lowers hisshoulder at the ten and has taken down
there between the hash marks. I'mgonna take no risks with the sideline.
Just give it to Olson right upthe gut. He was tackled down the
plate by Blake Oneman. And nowtwo thirty one and the clock ticking left

(01:49:26):
to go second and six again. They still need one first down here.
They're not going to be able tocompletely ice the clock, are the Huskies.
But a first down at the fivebasically at this point I think Dan
will win it oau Claire North. And they're also within field goal range too,
so there is that option as well. Fourteen to seven, OA Claire

(01:49:47):
North leads it two O six,two O five left to go. The
arm already in the air of theback judge waiting for the count, and
there is now five, now four, now three, now two, now
one, and I think coach McGinniswants to time out. He saw the
back judge reaching for the yellow markerin his belt, and he decided,

(01:50:09):
no, I don't need to messaround with that, and so he takes
the time out with one fifty fiveremaining here in the ball game. What
a story it is for Oa ClaireNorth again. They were down by two
touchdowns in the second half last week. They looked like they're headed to Owen
two. Another year of futility forthis Husky team. They come back winning
over time against Logan and now theygot a chance to erase fourteen straight games

(01:50:32):
of heartache against this Memorial team.Their bit of arrival. Oh yeah,
And you can definitely tell from theenergy on the field, especially on Oak
Clare North, and even in thefans, like most of them. Once
McCracken got that first down, theywere all up. They were all standing.
Everyone in front of us, everyonewas standing. People are excited.
People want ou Claire North to winthis game. Now, if you're Memorial,

(01:50:56):
you need to get this stop here. This is your last chance.
And even then it might already tobe too far gone to make any effective
plays to get all the way downto a touchdown, But I mean you
can try. You talk about abragging right, So all those sorts of
things. Again, Memorial is outof timeouts. Second and six from the

(01:51:16):
Memorial eleven yard line. Here forou Clare North again pistol formation, and
they'll give it to Olson. Hecounters left to ride, he's close to
the five, he's got it,he's got the first down. He's here
the two yard line, and thatshould do it here for Old Clare North.
They can take a few knees andthis ball game is over. Just

(01:51:36):
the amazing blocking that's been There's onlybeen a few times this night that I've
seen that Old Claire North old lineactually have some misques and some miscommunication on
that on the run plays especially,he's been They've been cam Olson's best friend
out there. For sure. I'llsee if Oak Clare North decides to ice

(01:51:58):
it here with some kneel downs.I believe they should be able to with
the play clock as it is,first and goal from the two officially,
and I believe he's gonna go undercenter here. You don't see that too
often from McCracken, and that wouldlikely make me think that he is going
to take the knee clock or atleast the count's starting there and he will
take any one oh six remaining andnow he should just need one more snap,

(01:52:21):
one more good snap to end thisgame. And as much as I'm
sure the North fans I'd love tosee that ball go in the end zone
one more time and a little insultto injury, Huskies are gonna take this
rivalry game for the first time sincetwo thousand and eight with one more good
snap. And it's even almost harderto watch as an AIDS fan to see

(01:52:43):
that your team only lost by atouchdown. Tool there's the North fans here
on the air sideline. They werethe home team officially tonight. They rise
to their feet, a knee takenand that is gonna do it. Oh
Claire North will take the rivalry matchupand they'll win at fourteen to seven.
Here over the old abes tonight, officials will spot it one more time,

(01:53:06):
but they don't need to. Andthere's coach McGinnis coming to the sideline.
He's celebrating with the students. He'spumped up. Oak Clair Memorial dropped a
one in two. The Huskies finallydo it for the first time since two
thousand and eight. Oa Claire Northhas won the Crosstown Showdown on the sixty

(01:53:29):
year anniversary tonight, you're in twothousand and twenty three, marketing back to
nineteen sixty three when this rivalry matchupstarted. The Huskies are back on top
their sixteenth win in program history overOak Claire Memorial, and how sweet it
is to be a Husky here tonight. Definitely just a very lighthearted, amazing

(01:53:55):
win for this oau Claire North teamwho's had some struggles in the past,
but look at them now they're twoin one. You know, you'll look
back at the rival I mean recently, there have not been a lot of
close games. I mean Memorial haswon in blowout fashion pretty much since what
twenty ten when they won fourteen toseven over Clare North. They won twelve
to two in two thousand and ninebefore again that North win in two thousand

(01:54:16):
and eight, but they have notbeen those fourteen games, the Memorial one.
There's not been a lot of closegames. This one another close one,
and this one the Huskies come outon top of. Big win for
the Huskies. We'll talk about iton our postgame show that's coming up right
after this here on Classic Rock ninetytwo one, your home for the Huskies
is Classic Rock two one, fourteento seven. That's the final. O

(01:54:42):
Claire North finally breaks the losing streakagainst Oak Claire Memorial. They win fourteen
to seven over the Old Age andthe crosstown showdown. Number sixty one in
these two schools history. What aball game? Won a performance here tonight,
Pikaus and Danzon's with you and SeanSakabac in studio, Dan Eye color
co my all time record listeners.A lot of purple I'm looking at right
now, but about to add someColumbia blue to the line there as they

(01:55:06):
finally win first time since two thousandand eight. In fact, if you
want to get even more historical here, it's only the third time they've won
this century over Memorial if you wantto go back there as well, like
if you want to have some maybesome hyperbole if you will. But nonetheless
North figures it out. You feltlike last week that this team was starting

(01:55:28):
to look a little bit more like, you know, a really good competitive
high school football team. We talkedabout it last week when they beat Logan,
and now that Matt McGinness has beenhere for two years, these guys
are starting to figure out what thesystem is. They looked really comfortable tonight,
both offensively, especially defensively as well, and that's what got them over
the hump to night against Memorial. So yeah, and they kept those old
aids in check, I'll tell youthat much. Wow, that defensive line

(01:55:54):
caused a lot of trouble, butwe can't understand that secondary causing probably should
have been more than two interceptions, but on the stat sheet it is two
interceptions right now. Wow, justa really insane play for them, Just
really great to see. And honestly, as like someone who has no bias

(01:56:16):
towards either side, it's it's goodto see an underdog win. Yeah,
it really is. Well it wasit's good football, right, a good
defensive football I thought tonight as well. And well we'll get to that in
a second here. You know, again, we talked about it at halftime.
This was a fourteen nothing game athalftime the third quarter, it felt
like North was playing a little bitnot to lose. So what ends up
happening? Right, Memorial starts offat the at the fifty yard line to

(01:56:38):
start that fourth quarter. They wentwent four or five plays right down field,
a couple of passes Holmberg goes toClark for a nine yard touchdown pass
fourteen to seven. At that point, North gets the ball back at nine
fifty four. They don't give theball back. Nine minute, fifty four
second drive that ends on the twoyard line. They didn't need it to
be a touchdown. But how aboutthat, I mean, I mean defense

(01:56:59):
by the offense holding the ball.I mean a nine minute and fifty four
second drive. You don't see thatin high school football very often methodical.
They ran the clock they I meanyou even had Memorial burn all three time
outs during that drive. I meanthat might the quote unquote play of the
game might be that drive. Thatdrive of the game, even though it
didn't result in the touchdown, winsthe game for North here tonight. Oh
yeah. And they didn't need itto resolve in touchdown just because of how

(01:57:21):
well and how effective they had donemanaging the clock and being able to pick
up those first times. There werea few times where it was and we
saw this the last game too againstLogan, where it was like a third
and seven, fourth and eight andthey just converted. They were somehow able
to either find a point either aweek point in the linebackers or in the

(01:57:42):
secondary. As we watched the studentssection run out onto the field for oh
Claire North, they're happy. Butthe defense that we saw and the defense
that's being instilled on this program orthe coaching that's being instilled on this program
defensively has obviously made such a bigdifference because they didn't need an offense tonight.

(01:58:04):
They didn't have very much going forthem. Yeah. Really one bad
defensive drive, right was that firstdrive of the start of the fourth quarter,
as Memorials kind of picked him apart. But other than that, like
we said, the secondary really hawkedto the ball and in it it's a
little bit unbelievable, but a nineminute, fifty four second drive basically wins
you the game without scoring a touchdown. They just basically played keepaway for the

(01:58:26):
rest of the fourth quarter. Themomentum, I mean, after that touchdown,
I felt like Memorial was on theway back. Right, North might
go three and out again and theymight get the ball back. It didn't
happen, and sure enough a winhere for North. Let's go through the
scoring really quickly again. McCracken toJensen with nineteen left to play in the
first quarter, got North up sixto nothing. They would miss the extra
point, but then later in thefirst half, with one minute in six

(01:58:48):
seconds left in the first half,Schoff would run it in from a yard
out on a long drive that startedat their own twenty two yard line,
went seventy eight yards and North wentin for the score, got the two
point with Schoff as well, fourteento nothing at that point. There's only
five total drives in that entire secondhalf between these two teams. North,
of course, through an interception tostart it off a Memorial was starting at

(01:59:10):
their own two yard line in thethird quarter. They ended up punting the
ball away. About five minutes lateror so, North would punt it right
back and then start the fourth quarter. Like we said, Memorial marched it
right down field Homeburg to Clark fornine yards to make it fourteen to seven.
But then a nine minute, fiftyfour second drive to run out the
clock for Oa Clare North here tonight. And so now as we quickly get

(01:59:30):
around our otto king out of townscoreboard, Hudson was up thirteen to nothing
on HIHI. At last check latein the fourth quarter, there thirteen to
eight. I'm told now Hudson hasthe lead, so Chipuwa is fighting back
late in the fourth quarter there atleast trying to Manominee gets away with a
forty two to seven win on Superior, so they go to three at Ozo.
On the season, they'll just bea couple of wins away from qualifying

(01:59:53):
for the playoffs already through three gamesthis season, twenty eight to twenty one,
New Richmond leeds River Falls in thefourth quar It was seven minutes left
to go there, so still sometime River Falls and the Wildcats trying to
work their way back against a verygood New Richmond team here in the Big
