(00:00):
Spring Valley will begin with the ball. They're gonna send back kan and Robelia
and Kage Stasig down to our right. As they'll move right to laft Calefax
will kick the ball from our leftto all right. Drew Beatner. He
goes a little bit of everything. He has filled in at quarterback. He
has run the ball for them, and he will kick and he'll swing that

(00:20):
right leg and away we go.A low line drive kick that's picked up
by Stasik at his own twenty yardline. Maneuvers through the hash marks up
to the thirty yard line, startsthe stutter step a bit, he warms
his way past a thirty five andis able to get all the way out
past the forty yard line. Markhim down at the forty three and very

(00:43):
good starting position for Spring Valley. And you know the coaches will be talking
about that one. They had himall up and contained towards that thirty yard
line, but they just kind ofsoftened a little bit and allowed the kicker
turner to make a few extra yardson them. Push the file. Why
at Governowski the quarterback for Spring Valleyin many ways though he is a facilitator

(01:03):
to the running back Diegos Smith who'shad forty four rushing attempts this year and
is right behind Governowski under center andoff to Diego Smithy's popped at the line.
The whole falls ahead, gains acouple of yards to the forty five
and it'll be second down at eighton the play. And that was big
linebacker Grant Paulis on that one there, he was right, He was right

(01:27):
there to make a play, justkind of fell right into his lap when
he took that correct angle. Justthe beautiful job by him to make to
blow up that play. Paulas andKate Anderson, two of the leading defenders
that Colfax has second at eight fromtheir own forty five. Governowski handing it
to diosmid burst of the middle. He's got the first down in the plus

(01:49):
territory over the forty five and downto the forty four of Colfax. First
down run and spring Valley will movethe chainsaw mark him down closer to the
forty three. Got Diego smit rightover the right guard position with a big
game and he's got that electric flash. Especially with how that right side of

(02:12):
that offensive line has been doing sofar this game, it could be a
long one for Colfax if they don'tsure it up three wide outs. Diego
smit behind the quarterback and against Nickgets the cary, but he's roughed up
in the backfield, slowed up byColton Hoffman. Ah Hoffman came right on
in there and grabbed him as thoughhe was a big, cuddly teddy bear,

(02:32):
and it wasn't gonna let him free. Our loss of two on the
play, and it'll be second andtwelve. Very good recognition there by the
end, Hoffman. And I wastalking to you earlier about it. I
was saying, more of a receivingthreat. But man, can he play
on defense? How about that play? Great containment just under way early in

(02:53):
the first quarter Spring Valley, withthe game's first possession, second down and
twelve from the plus forty four,Governowski swing passed to the near side of
Stosk catch at the side line. He's inside the forty five down to the
thirty five. He's got the firstdollon as he's escorted out of bounds and
around the thirty yard line by DrewBeatner. There was a flag though,

(03:15):
dropped as he was being escorted outof bounds and I we'll see what the
penalty is gonna be. I knowthe Colfax sideline was excited about it,
and it's gonna be all hold onSpring Valley. So the indication all hold
on Spring Valley. That'll push themback. It's a spot foul, so

(03:38):
he'll set up a second down. They'll pretty much be right back to where
they started. In fact, they'lllose all of a yard total. So
they started at second and twelve. He'll now be second and thirteen from the
plus forty five. And I believethat was Kate's stastic on that hold there.
He kind of got a little bittoo handy on the outside, didn't

(03:59):
really keep his hands on the insidewhere his pet where the pads are to
hide it from the rest. Butwoo, that was almost a big play
there for Spring Valley. Bunched upformation, toss goes to Smick going wide
to the far side, gets theedge, turns, He's to the forty
yard line, tripped up, fallsahead, stays in bounds, gains five

(04:20):
on the play. It will setup a third and long, though this
will probably be two down territory forthem. Third down, we'll call it
seven from the plus forty yard lineand Austin Coates came through on that run.
On that tackle there, really beautifultackle, went low and grabbed him

(04:41):
gun right by the legs and justcompletely stopped him in his tracks. That's
perfect form tackling. There. Beproud of yourself, young man. Spring
Valley has put eighty five points onthe board in the last two weeks.
Trying to start up offensive here,Governouse get a pass cross back now running
himself up the metal, He's gonnabe taken down a couple of yards.
Shy of the first down, tooka two step drop and then began to

(05:03):
missile his way up the middle, and he got sandwiched at the thirty five
yard line. It'll be fourth downand three, and we'll see if Ryan
Capping goes for to re elects tohave more of a pooch kick here.
Capping, in his eleventh season asthe head coach for Spring Valley, his

(05:24):
wife Laura, Spanish teacher. Inthe district fourth down and three, they
will have a bunched up formation, smit behind Governowski turns hands the smith off
the left side. He's got thefirst down as he will jump ahead to
the thirty yard line and his pinthere gain of five on the play and

(05:45):
a fresh set of downs four SpringValley, and it must be so hard
to stop a team that's as versatileas Spring Valley is. You have not
only running back Diego Schmidt, butthen why Governowski? Who can just do
what he did to set up thatshort fourth and short play earlier, which
is just as the pockets breaking down, be elusive and take off when you

(06:06):
see a little gap. Smith's averagingalmost ten yards of carry this season,
Governowski almost five the option play. They tossed it to their side. The
ball's mishaddled ball by Kadan Rebelia andhe has to jump back on the ball
near the forty yard line. Aloss of eight on the play. Nearly

(06:29):
disastrous for Spring Valley as they triedto run the option to the near side
and the toss the rebellion went offhis fingertips and he was like a He
was like a kid trying to chaseafter a duck on the side of the
pond. I was able to corralit, but out before a loss of
eight on the play. So itwill be second down in an uber ride
to go back at We'll call itthe thirty eighth this is a beautiful grass

(06:55):
field, a turtle hump to itfor rain its purposes. The only thing
is they don't have the individual theindividual yardage markings, AH first world broadcast
or problems and timeout's gonna be takenby Spring Valleys. The Spring Valley is
gonna take a time out. SpringValley the game's first possession of the game.

Moose Country one oh six point sevensecond down and eighteen for Spring Valley coming

(08:26):
out of their time out zero zeroscore seven zero six to play in the
first quarter, Galvaranowski, Well keepit himself on the option play. He'll
worm his way, cyclone his wayif you will throw a couple up bodies
for a hard earned three yards tothe thirty five yard line, and I'll
set up third down and fifteen. And I mean he was like somebody trying

(08:50):
to maneuver his way through a seaof zombie hands. Right there. There
was a bunch of red jerseys forColfax that were around him. It took
about seven of them though, tofinally bring him down, as he was
just turning and turning and turning likean ice cream turner. Yeah, he
really fought hard to get those extrayards. And that's the one thing you

(09:11):
can say about Governowski. He's gonnakeep fighting when he's on the field.
Garnowski a senior. Third down andfifteen, he's under center. White action
rolls out on the far side. Now under duress and around the forty hell
Louis the sac roads on the farside line. He's inside the thirty down
near the twenty five yard line andis pushed out of bounds just enough.

(09:33):
He thought he had stayed in boundsand then got popped. But they're gonna
say is back. Heel stepped outof bounds at the twenty five yard line.
But a run of about ten onthe plant it sets up fourth down
at a short five. So thisis much more manageable. Yeah, And
like we were just talking about before, Governowski's so elusive. It looked like

(09:56):
he was gonna get trapped around thatfar right corner and maybe get for maybe
two yards, but he just keptturning his legs and he turned that into
almost a ten yard play, likea squirrel looting the gardener's broom. Fourth
down to a short five. Governowskikeeps in himself off the right side.
He's got the first down into thetwenty to the fifteen, and he has
his ankles taken his ankles taken offfrom underneath him down near the ten yard

(10:20):
line. But another fourth down pickup for Spring Valley. They're two for
two on fourth downs. On thisdrive and it'll set up a first down
and goal to go right at thetag. Definitely more passing than I expected
to see in this first drive. Here, a really good mixture and they're
really lolling this Colfax team into USzero zero's score under six to go in

(10:48):
the first quarter. Governowski at thestat of formation gives it to Diego Smith
makes one man missing the batfield ballcame free, blues ball at the seven
yard line. Who's got it allback down soul Spring Valley had chewed up
about six and a half minutes onlyto half the ball come free out of

(11:13):
the hands of Diego Smith, andthey say Kate Anderson picked it up and
Caalfax will take over inside their ownten and what a pop. That's what
they needed. They need to winthis turnover game. They want any chance
to stay alive in this zach HeitlaThen at quarterback for coal Fax inside their

(11:35):
own ten, turn a hand offhere we'll gain a couple of yards up
to the ten yard line. Thatwas beating near on the carry for coal
Fax. So Spring Valley did everythingon that job on that drive. But
score there that has to feel likedriving all the way down the Walt Disney
World, only to find out themouse was closed for the day. They

(11:58):
got all the way to the tenand then a rare turnover. So Colfax
the ball second down and eight fromtheir own ten. Heto what will keep
it himself, trying to go offthe right guard. He will drag a
couple of tacklers for a short gainof four on the play. He'll set

(12:20):
up third down and we'll I guesswe'll call it five. And then you
can see a number sixty six,big Cameron Molina. He made a really
nice block and just kept turning hislegs too. They didn't amount for many
yards, but that intensity is what'sgonna win them this football game. If
they keep up that pressure and keepup that great pass run blocking, they

(12:41):
could potentially come out with some extrayards here. Spring Valley dominated each of
the last two meetings in this series. Heat A thinks the gift keeps himself,
lowers his shoulder, tries to gothrough the chest of his Spring Valley
defender. They meet at the firstdown marker at the seventeen where they spot
the ball. It's gonna be closeand they're got to bring the change.

(13:03):
Oh, they're gonna say it's thefirst down. He wore the head Dihitla
plan chest to chess with the SpringValley defender and gained that extra yard he
needed for the first down. AndHitla is just a very passionate runner out
there on the field. He's quick, but he's got that real good push
at the end that he's got somereally good push there to really seem like

(13:28):
a bruiser. He's not the biggest, but look at him. Go Gerry
again by Beatner. Nothing happening there. It'll be second and ten. We've
got three thirty left to go inthe first quarters. Zero zero score.
Spring Valley dominated last year forty nineto zero. Two years ago fifty four

(13:48):
to six. Joe Baronic in hissecond year as the head coach for Calfax,
trying to build a culture here.He mentioned that last year and the
same thing continues into this year. They know what the odds are stacked against
him these next couple of years asthey try to pretty much rebuild this football
program. Heato keeping himself off theleft side. He's able to elude a
couple of tacklers, but he's unableto turn the corner at Spring Valley had

(14:13):
him walled off. No gain,it'll be third down, will call it
ain't a host attacklers in there forSpring Valley, led by Ethan Hegelson,
the junior defensive back, and Italked a little bit about that Colfax defensive
line is being a pretty big group. But that Spring Valley defensive line,
man, they can really bruise youup there. I mean, look at

(14:37):
their big nose tackle in the center. There, he is massive. Third
down along seven for Colfax. Tosscoming to the nearest side for mad Day
gold Takles got nowhere though, ashe tried to extend the line to the
near side, but Spring Valley heldthe line and ends up getting nothing on
the play. Trevor Forster, thejunior in on the tackle. Spring Valley

(15:01):
fourth down and long and Colfax leftto punt it away. But remember this
all began when they forced that fumbleinside their own ten. So they'll take
this outcome. Colton Hoffman will beyondthe punt. He'll be standing at his
own ten to boot it away. Two minutes left in the first quarter,

(15:22):
zero zero score. Chance for agreat field position for Spring Valley. Well
for a billion stossick back near thefifty yard line. Hoffman gets the chest
high snap gets the right footed kickaways wobbly kick coming to the nearest side.
It's gonna go out of bounds atthe Colfax sideline, and he got
a decent punt away all things considered, ends up going out of bounds at

(15:45):
the Spring Valley forty six yard line. I'll Spring Valley will start up with
enviable field position first and ten justpast their own forty five. Well again,
Colfax has forced a turnover in thisgame. The on ball a few
plays ago. That turnover brought toyou by Darcy Brown thrive in Financial called

(16:07):
Darcy Brown at thrive In Financial inminominee zero zero score on the weirds Galla
plumbing at eating scoreboard. A minuteforty five to play in the first quarter,
Spring Valley. The ball they're headingright to left across your listening device
on this Friday night, the tossde Stosa going why to the far side.
However, coal Fax is right therein the backfield to meet him and

(16:30):
Colfax. A bunch of guys arethere to grab the cereal box and reach
in digging for the toy. They'regonna say, gain me nothing ends up
losing maybe a half yard on theplay. Excellent pursuit by Coalfax, and
it'll be second down, Andy Levin, and this defensive line isn't containing the

(16:52):
run reasonably well. There's only beenone real big breakaway, and that was
of course by their main guy,Diego Schmidt. But this is the kind
of thing you need if you're coalFax to try and win this game.
Second down and eleven from their ownforty five for Spring Valley and off smit
Oh. But right there to greethim in the backfield and wrap them up

(17:12):
past the ankles was Colton Hoffman. It'll be third town in ten from their
own forty five for Spring Valley.Final minute of the first quarter, likely
the last play of the first quarter, as the clock will take under thirty
five seconds to play Spring Valley.By the way, the white helmets,

(17:36):
white tops, black pants coal Faxthe blood red helmets, the red tops
and the white pants. It's ared and black color scheme on both sides.
Third down in ten, Governowski fakesthe game looking to pass, now
throws it deep over the middle. It's a jump ball situation at the twenty
yard line and knocked away Income pointedrew Batner back on defense, and Spring

(18:02):
Valley will out fourth and ten fromtheir own forty five yard line, thirteen
seconds to play in the first quarter, and look likely a situation here where
Spring Valley will punt it away andDan looks like Colfax is gonna get two
defensive stops and almost another turnover there. Peekner there right in almost had it

(18:25):
right in his hands. It lookedlike he could have maybe gone up for
a little jump ball action there, but just couldn't come down with it.
However, fourth down and you'll takethat gotor Ericsson to boot it away for
Spring Valley. High wobbly kick.Peetner calls for a fair catch coming up
to his own twenty four. He'llcatch the ball and secure it, and
Colfax will take over at their owntwenty four yard line. Clock never started

(18:51):
on the punt, by the way, we'll see if the officials correct that
whoever ran the clock was operating underkickoff rules, I think, but the
clock should have started as soon asthe ball was snapped. Now they're not
going to correct that. Here. We'll get an extra play out at seeds

(19:11):
first and ten from their own twentythree for coal Fax moving left a right
hand off, looking to see ifBeatner could take his way up the middle.
But Beatner ran into nothing but bricks, nowhere to go. It'll be
second down and ten, and thatis how the first quarter will come to

(19:32):
an end. Well, we haveplayed one quarter on the weirds Gallop,
Plumbing and Heating scoreboard, Spring Valleyand Colfax zero zero score caul Fax Ball.
When we come back second quarter nexton Moose Country one oh six point
seven. This is Friday Night Lightson Moose Country one oh six point seven.

thing there, yea, yea yeah. The person can't break up with you

(20:41):
or you can't get fired if younever put yourself in a position where they
can actually talk to you. Andwhen it comes to an upset, the
longer you delay the inevitable, theinevitable may never actually happen. Right now,
Colfax add Spring Valleys zero zero score, twelve minutes to go in the
second quarters. We begin the secondquarter Colfax ball moving right to left.

(21:07):
On paper, seemed like a mismatch, but Colfax's defense back to back defensive
stops, including forcing a fum ball, ending a lengthy Spring Valley drive Coulfax
ball on second and ten, thetoss coming wide the near side is Kate
Anderson. Anderson looking for somewhere togo. Outstanding job expanding the line,

(21:29):
though by Spring Valley they'll yield acouple of yards before as scoring him out
of bounds. Host of guys inthere on the tackle, including Rebelia and
Stossik, also forced her in onthe pursuit for Spring Valley. And we
were talking about how great Fullfax's defensehas been so far, but Spring Valley's
defense has been just right up therewith them, forcing stops here and there.

(21:51):
Now we're onto a third and sixand Coulfax offensive line. He start
blocking a little bit better to createsome more angles to run through. A
third down in six from their owntwenty eight yard line. Baccatola took the
snap, fakes the give to beatingher and trying to keep it himself.
But he'll run right into the asphaltright right there in front of him,

(22:14):
gains maybe a yard. It's fourthdown and five, Colfax. We'll have
to boot the ball away. SoColfax has gotten a couple of defensive stops
but unable to push the ball aheadthemselves. Colton Hoffman on to punt it
away, standing inside of his owntwenty yard line, takes the knee high

(22:36):
snap, gets the kick out blotPaul's picked up by Anderson at his own
ten for Colfax, wrapped up andbrought down and around his own five.
The punt is blocked by Klea Barko, the junior for Spring Valley, came
in off the right side, toveahead and blotted it with his forearms.

(22:56):
I'll picture perfect block there for SpringValley and they won't take over first in
goal from the seven and just anabsolute breakdown on that left side of the
line. You need to keep yourguy and that is why you just set
up Spring Valley in beautiful position ofgoing out and score. You need to

(23:17):
make sure that doesn't happen again.LC If Spring Valley can now punch this
one in first in goal to gofrom the seven, Governowski under center,
fakes the gift to Diego Spins wrappedup in the backfield and he has brought
down to the grass. Nichols hiton the chackle for Colfax as he came

(23:38):
on in there and took the lastof the chicken wings. It'll be second
down in goal to go from theeight yard line. And this Colfax defensive
line has been causing nothing but troublefor the Spring Valley offensive line. They're
right now winning this matchup. They'renot able to run consistently and that's obviously

(23:59):
affecting their offense. It's considering it'sstill a zero to zero game. As
zero zero score. Early in thesecond quarter, Spring Valley, though again
gold to go situation, Govardowski handsit Diego Smith. Diego Smith though got
tripped in the backfield by Anderson andlunges ahead got a yard on the play,

(24:19):
but it'll be third down and Goldto go from the six match up.
It's one of those odd things aboutmatchups in football, and one of
the cool things about football is eachweek feels like it's its own mini championship.
You know what the numbers say.But right now the matchup has been
favorable for Coalfax, Govardowski and offthe Smith. They moved the pile ahead

(24:47):
inside the five, but the swarmof parties will run out of momentum at
the two, but it'll be fourthdown and gold to go on the two
yard locks. Now, we sawthem throw on that last drive and the
drive before too. Definitely more thanwe've seen in the past with the Spring

(25:08):
Valley team, especially this season.Let's see if they might maybe do a
slant or something here and try tobreak up this three run stretch. They
sent Hegelson wide out of the left. Hegelson has not caught a pass this
year. Govornowski under center, turnshand to Smith. Smithlid and he is
dropped no pain and Coulfax's defense againholds and the Spring Valley offense walks back

(25:37):
to the far side of the lineflumixed and you can see just from the
player's body language, the Spring Valleyteam. It feels like really disappointed in
themselves. Colfax, though, isup and bouncing around. They're just punked.
They just had a fourth down stopright at the goal line with one
of the better rushing teams in thisconference. Call Fax will take over with

(26:00):
their rear ends right up against theirgoal line here first down and before the
snap, flags are dropped at afall start on Coalfax, so that'll push
them back even closer to their goalline. So they had taken over at
their own two. Now they'll havethe ball at their own one yard line.

(26:21):
As they are crowded up against theirown goal line right now in the
shadows of the goal post. ZachHito under center turns hands into beatner Beat.
He's gotta make sure he gets outof the end zone there and he's
able to get back to the lineof scrimmage. It'll be second down and
ten in second down and eleven.I should say this is gonna be tough

(26:44):
for them here backed up so farright in their end zone. It's gonna
be interesting to see what they're actuallygonna do here. Maybe a toss to
the right or left side, maybeget someone into the open space. But
right now, this offensive line needsto blotch a little bit better so they
can actually open up those angles andmake allow these skill players to actually make

(27:04):
plays. Second down and eleven fromtheir own one yard line. Heatle On,
we'll try to keep it himself. He's in the backfield, doll and
he is going to be swallowed upin the end zone, brought down a
safety hor Spring Valley. Just notwhat you want to see. If you're

(27:26):
coal Fax, you had just gottentwo great, some great defensive stops here
on the end. But allowing thatsafety, it can hurt. It can
hurt if you're player on this team. Well, they two run double off
the left field wall for Spring Valley. Gives them the two zero lead.
A team wide safety right there. We'll see who they especially would give it

(27:48):
to. But there was about sevenmembers of the Spring Valley Cardinals and those
white helmets and white jerseys that hadsurrounded or Zach hit in the backfield,
and he had nothing he could doabout it. He was like a blade
of grass looking at the lawnmower coming. He could not avoid it. So

(28:10):
the safety gives Spring Valley the twozero lee with seven forty three to play
in the first half, and Coalfaxwill have to boot the ball back to
Spring Valley as well, so Beatnerwill be the one that kicks it off
for coal Fax. Rebelion Stasick willreturn it for Spring Valley, beating her

(28:41):
a straight on kick. We'll sendthe ball from our right two hour left
and he gets the signal from theofficial. He'll stride it to the ball,
swing the right leg, low linedrive Kickstosick takes it at his forty
five. He's in the plus territorybefore he hits a wall attack where's the
forty? Then tries to kick outside. He's gone his feet the thirty
five stay the most feet to thesidellite of the twenty to the ten wave

(29:04):
in good Pine touchdown, touchdown,Spring Valley, Kate Starsik ran into the
meddle. He did not hit anytraffic until he was twenty five yards with
momentum, and then somehow or anotherhe pimboled off body, stayed on his
feet, got to the sideline. Now was gone from twenty yards at it's

(29:27):
eight zero Spring Valley, and itlooked like he almost gained speed when he
bounced off those players. He almostlike gained intensity as he ran down there
he ran over another member of theColfax and Vikings and then stiff armed his
way up the field and just kepton churning his legs. Stosig now on
for the extra point like he didlast season. He's their kicker again this

(29:51):
year and Stasick boots it through theupprs. So Stasik the fifty five yard
kickoff return touchdown, passed the extrapoint on plus the extra point will give
Spring Valley the nine zero lead.Nine zero lead in favor of Spring Valley,
seven twenty nine to play until halftime. It's cold Fax ball when

(31:26):
touchdown by Katee Stasik for Spring Valley, they'll kick the ball off to Colfax
and the ball taken at the thirtybrought up to the thirty five and Colfax
will start up first and ten fromjust past their own thirty five yard line.
Well, want to change there.Moments ago though, Dan the safety

(31:47):
for Spring Valley, followed by Stasisfifty five yard return for the touchdown.
That touchdown, by the way, brought to you by b York Strand Metal
Roofing. Yeah, probably one ofthe worst turn of events here for coal
Fax. That could have happened, barring of course missing on the other touchdown.
But let's see if they'll actually stretchthe fields here that Spring Valley has

(32:09):
had a little bit of success withthat going on, and maybe Colfax could
see it. They've been only runningthe ball here seven twenty to play in
the first half. Toss coming toAnderson near sign. Anderson, however,
is gonna be gang tackled and thrownback no gain as he tried to extend
that a line of scrimmage, butthere was no getting past Diego Smit,

(32:30):
who came in from the dB positionand wrapped him up around the neck and
threw him back. And not onlydoes Smit run the ball very effectively,
but he is also a great tackler. Making sure to get making sure the
low man wins is always step onewhen you're when you're out there making an
open field tackle. Second down andnine from their own thirty seven four coal

(32:57):
Fax, he know we'll keep ithimself, tossing it far side. This
time it's painted hover hover though, can't turn the edge, and Holver's brought
down Kate's Tassik along with Ian Hakes, a sophomore in on the tackle.
A loss of three on the play, and it will be third down on
a plane ride to go for coalFax and Spring Valley just winning this containment

(33:23):
here against the run game for coalFax, which has been their bread and
butter for their offense. If they'renot able to get this run game going,
Spring Valley might just have this inthe bag. Third down. We'll
call it thirteen from inside their ownthirty five for coal Fax, six minutes
to play until half nine zero SpringValley. He don't look in the pass,

(33:45):
throws it deep near side. It'sgonna cut its side. Got thirty
over one before he's taken down.Payden Hoverer caught the ball over their shoulder
and what have taken it all theway if not for being brought down at
the ankles by Wyat Governowski. Hecaught the ball, got three steps.

(34:07):
Governowski made a touchdown saving tackle. But oh, it's gonna come back.
It's gonna come back. You'll lookto your right, there's a flag down
and the white cap is gonna callholding. So all the joy, all
the excitement. It's like it beingyour birthday, only to find out nobody

(34:30):
remembered it your birthday. And that'sjust absolutely deflating. If your coalfax having
that beautiful throw, beautiful throw allthe way down field for holding there to
make a great catch and a oneon one play there, just to have
it go all the way back ona misque. You gotta limit that if
you're Coalfax here, So I'll septthird down and twenty one from inside their

(34:53):
own twenty five yard line. Thatwould have been just the third completion this
eason for heatal element Holder's first reception. Aldo'll toss to Anderson coll Me why
the near side. Let's trying tosee if something develops. Nothing does,

(35:15):
and he'll be dropped and thrown ontohis rear end by a host of Spring
Valley tacklers and Colfax we'll have togo out and kick the ball away.
When you're building a program, usuallyit is the offense that is behind the
defense in development, and that's whatyou're seeing from Colfax having a hard time

(35:39):
moving the football today, and they'vehad a hard time putting points on the
board the last few weeks. TheoHolbdi has been their quarterback the last couple
of years, but he's been bangedup with an injury that does not help
matters. Now. Colton Hoffman onthe punt and he unfortunately shanks the punt

(35:59):
pooted away from his own twenty yardline, but he hit it off the
side of his right foot in theball, he's gonna be like a wounded
blimp that's gonna wibble and wobble andgo out of bounds only a few yards
up the field. They're gonna seeit went out of bounds to the Coalfax
side line, where they're gonna marketat the thirty five yard line. So

(36:22):
Spring Valley. Spring Valley will takeover at the plus thirty five yard line
and a chance to put some separationbetween themselves and coal Fax. And the
coaches must have talked to Hoffman aboutthat last punch, because he definitely got
out it off a bit quicker thanhe did before, but obviously shanked it
all Before the snap flags, hehad Coalfax guys jumping across the line where

(36:45):
they pulled off sides. No,they were not. They'll call off sides
on Coalfax five yards. Penalty willset up first and five. And now
you're starting to see where it's unravelingup it for Coalfax and here's where and
Dan, you mentioned it earlier, the lack of numbers coal Fatch has.
These guys are costantly out there, constantly out there and they're not getting a

(37:07):
chance to just reset themselves. Andas you get tired, you begin to
make mistakes. And most of theseplayers, especially on coal Fax, are
playing both sides of the ball andspecial teams too, just not a lot
of breaks for them. Here,Governowski, we're keeping himself on the option,

(37:30):
going why to the far side.Turns the Edgies got the first doubt
and it's brought down the open field. But Hayden Hover, who prevented a
huge game. It is enough fora first doubt of six yards inside the
twenty five to the twenty four, but if not for that tackle, he
may have may have had six.And that's what we've been seeing here on

(37:52):
this defense. Some really shirts tackling, some great open field low man wins
type of tackling, getting underneath theplayer and taking him out by their legs,
not trying to grab him with armtackles, which we've seen in the
past with Colfax football. Nine zerospring Valley four fifteen to play until halftime
and off to diego. Smitty movesthe pile ahead inside the twenty near the

(38:16):
first down marker at the fifteen. The pile will stall out shy of the
first down at the sixteen yard theline, but eight gain of nine,
he'll be second down and a yardfor Spring Valley. And I just can't
praise Schmidt enough. He's been He'sbeen an absolute man this year. He's

(38:38):
been absolutely just trucking, blowing throughpeople as well as he's got a little
he's got the elusiveness and speed tojust blow the top off of the defense.
Second down and short for Spring Valley. Govern Owski will change the play
at the line there because he standsback up, relax the muscles for a

(39:00):
moment, now goes back under center, sends a man in motion, and
again he's gonna step back and callit time out. So Spring Valley will
burn their second time out all ofthe half. Three eleven to play in
the first half, and it's ninezero Spring Valley. Spring Valley driving trying
to add to this nine zero lead. We'll come back in thirty seconds.

(40:30):
Fax nine zero and Spring Valley's gotsecond down in two from just outside the
plus fifteen and off here should haveenough for a first down over the fifteen
yard line, and Spring Valley willhave a fresh set of downs. It
is a patriotic theme for the Colfaxstudent body that is here tonight down to

(40:51):
our left. But we just saythirty six students there and three dozen students
there. Patriotic theme, red whiteand blue, number of red, white
and blue cowboy hats. One youngman there's got one that lights up,
all standing up, all having fun. Still it might not be the closest
games. I mean, it's prettyclose for what we thought. It's nine

(41:12):
nothing right now, but they're stillhaving fun out there. Ah America blows
some stuff up celebrate that saucy oldgal's birthday on July fourth pitch coming to
the near side. J K stasikStas has got some room along the ash
marks inside the ten town of thefive, and it's pulled down inside the
five. It'll be first in goalfor Spring Valley as they try to add

(41:37):
to a nine zero lead. Bythe way, Spring Valley opposite of us
and the visitor's sideline has got well, they've filled up those metal visitor bleachers
opposite of us, including the mostlike a group of students that also made
the drive up from Spring Valley. And it's still just great weather out for

(42:00):
of all times to be traveling, this would probably be the best day for
it. No ninety degrees, nosweating off, no cold freezing air,
no cold freezing temperature, just somenice nice Friday football first Friday night of
the year, though I have notworn shorts. First and goal to go
from the two hand off, theDiego Smit and Diego Schmitt will walk on

(42:22):
in on the dive play over thecenter position, touchdown touchdown for Spring Valley
as Diego Smitt picks up his fourthtouchdown of the season and Spring Valley leads
fifteen to zero. And he justkind of waltzed right in there, barely
touched, maybe a hand on bythe defensive lineman. But great blocking up

(42:44):
front there, especially by number sixtyfour Mason Wolf. Great job by him.
Kage Stassic, the right footed kickerfor the extra point, balls down,
boot meets ball line drive, kickgets over the crossbar just enough.
It's good. So the extra pointis good. And with two o eight
to play it until half, SpringValley has a sixteen to zero Lee,

(43:07):
we'll come back. It's calfax ballin thirty seconds on Moose Country one oh

on the Road at Colfax has asixteen to zero lead just over two minutes
to go until halftime. As theballs kicked back off to Colfax. Take

(44:15):
him an up man for Colfax, that is Zach Hitaa. Hitaa actually bobbled
the ball for a moment back athis own twenty five yard line and is
able to get ahead to the thirtyand that is where Colfax will start up
first and ten from their own thirty. Colfax came into this game one and
two on the season. They wontheir first game of the season at home

(44:39):
against Whitehall and lost at Leva Strumbefore losing in their conference opener last week
at Boys. Milt asked for SpringValley three and zero on the year,
began with a win over their rivalDurand and then back to back blowout wins,
including against Glenwood City and their conferenceopener last week. Spring Valley going

(45:04):
for a third consecutive done Saint CroixConference crown this year. Whereas the carry
up the middle will go for acouple of yards for Colfax, and you'd
like to see them put it inthe air again. They had success the
one time they've thrown the ball obviouslygot called back huge chunk play called back

(45:24):
on a holding, but it wassuccessful nonetheless, and maybe some shorter passes
could open up a few more opportunitiesfor this Colfax offense. But the Spring
Valley defense, though, has beenabsolutely intense. One twenty to play until
halftime, second down and eight fromtheir own thirty three four Colfax pitch going

(45:47):
to hover far side, got tothe sideline, but not much room to
go there. He had not onlydefenders, but the sideline operating as an
extra defender. Gained maybe a coupleof yards on the play. It'll be
third down and six from just shyof their own thirty five for call Fax.

(46:07):
He went out of bound. Sothe clock stops with one twelve to
go until halftime. See down belowon the sideline there looks like a somebody
that's chronicling this game. There's somebodydown there with a camera and a notepad.
Don't recognize them for men, anyone of the media outlets, But

(46:29):
whoever she is, she said, chronicling the game for somebody. Meanwhile,
Colfax is gonna burn one of theirtime outs, So Colfax us the time
out. We'll keep it here. One twelve to go until halftime, sixteen
to zero Spring Valley. This gamebegan. You know, you talk about
Spring Valley wanting to avoid the upset, coal fact trying to create the upset.

(46:52):
The game began with the recipe fouran upset Spring Valley drove down the
field, but then a fumble insidethe ten yard the line snuffed out that
drive. Anything back. Even later, Dan Colfax stopped Spring Valley on great
field position at midfield, and whenSpring Valley took over inside the ten after

(47:15):
a blot punt, each time Colfaxcame up big. But that's Safety's what
turned everything. Yeah, that wasreally a momentum changer there. It felt
like Colfax's defense had really kept themin this game. But if your offense
can't string together a few plays tomove even a few yards down the field,
you're just not gonna be able todo anything about that. You're not

(47:36):
gonna be able to move the ball. You're not gonna be able to stay
in this game. Third down insix from now on thirty five, he'll
look in the past. He'll into rest. Though in the backfield he's
wrapped up. He's able to dragattack or back to the line of scrimmage,
but it'll be fourth down and longand time out call by Spring Valleys.
The Spring Valley uses their last timeout of the half with one zero

(48:00):
two to play until halftime, leadingsixteen to zero, so they'll get the
ball back. And the punning gameat times has been interesting in this one.
There has already been a block puntin this game. Spring Valley got
a black punt by Kawa Barco whichdid not directly lead to points. After

(48:21):
Spring Valley did not score on agoal to go situation, but indirectly it
did because shortly thereafter they forced thesafety and then you also had a shamed
punt on the last punt that endedup leading to points. Yeah, it's
been a really it's been a bigfield position game so far in Spring Valley
has been really winning that, especiallywith obviously getting it at the Colfax too.

(48:46):
One of the times that didn't reallyresult in points, as you said,
but it resulted in safety, whichthen resulted in a touchdown on the
return from that safety. Just alot of string, just a lot of
things string from just that safety. It's pretty it's pretty incredible if your Spring
Valley, that is, Kage Stasikhas already returned a kickoff for a touchdown

(49:08):
today standing at his own thirty five, Hoffman the boot it away. Hoffman
fakes Hoffman, bobbled it for amoment, couldn't get the kick away,
tries the run, but he's wrappedup and thrown down inside of his own
thirty and Spring Valley will take overthere. That was not a fake.

(49:29):
He didn't really even bobble it thatmuch, Dan, But as soon as
he caught the ball, he alreadyhad three Spring Valley players around him.
It's it's sort of like a dogwaiting at the end of a butcher's table.
He he didn't have a chance tothink, and there was already people
around it. No, and hecan definitely tell fatigue setting in with how
they're blocking, how they're not ableto hold the same blocks as they were

(49:52):
in the first quarter. And nowColfax is gonna burn a time out off
a dead ball situation, which usuallyyou'd be This wouldn't be good football,
the burning timeouts at the clock alreadystopped, and on defense, burning any
timeout on defense. But clearly JoeBaronick wants his team to get a breather

(50:14):
here, because, as we've saidbefore, they just go and have numbers
only about twenty or so guys onthe team, which is just not what
you have to be competitive and thedone saying Froy, we'll touch on that
at a moment, but they'll usea time out to get a breather.
Spring Valley me while has the ballfirst and ten at the plus twenty eight

(50:36):
yard line, they have no timeoutsleft and fifty six seconds left to get
until halftime. Now, the thingis the positive cipher Coalfex. Most of
this team is sophomores and juniors, and as you try to build up a
program, the way to build upa program is you keep bringing guys back
year after year, and then youstart filling in from the bottom and that

(51:00):
what they hope will pay off ina couple of years. Swing past the
far side, caught by statica onthe side, he's got room into the
twenty into the fifteen dot of theten and his nudge dot of bounds just
inside the ten yard line, andhe's been he's been having a second quarter
so far. Not really much actionthat first quarter, but he's really making

(51:22):
a case for himself this one though. He's definitely been most of the offense
for Spring Valley. They say hewas pushed on the bows just shy of
the ten. Will it be firstin goal? Note he can still get
a first down with about they canbring the ball to about the length of
a mouse's rear end of the goalline and get a first down. So

(51:46):
in essence, it's first in goalto go from the ten. Forty nine
seconds left until halftime, looking thepast fade pass far side, looking Verstosic,
he will make the in the endzone touchdown touchdown Spring Valley Guya Governowski
his fourth touchdown pass off the season, Stasik his second touchdown reception. Spring

(52:12):
Valley with a twenty two point secondquarter, has taken a twenty two to
zero lead and just a great jobthere by Stasis. He uses frame to
just nudge out the corner on hisback and make a beautiful play for the
ball. That high high ball too, Stasis. Extra point kick is up
and the kick is good. Andwith forty four seconds to play in the

(52:37):
first half, Spring Valley has openedup a twenty three to zero lead.
The York Strand metal roofing touchdown byKage Stasik on the ten yard touchdown reception,
his second touchdown of the game.Well, Colefax, we'll get the
ball back when we return in thirtyseconds on Moose Country one oh six point

seconds to play until halftime, SpringValley will kick the ball back to coal

(53:44):
Fax. Here a Spring Valley hasopened up a twenty three says zero lead.
Gainst Tassik a memorable second quarter forhim, and he'll kick it off
a little ground ball kick, takehim ut up Matt the forty four coal
Fax and brought past the forty fiveto the forty six yard line. And
that's where Colfax we'll take we'll takeover. We're lining down for a lot

(54:08):
of a lot of students around thearea. The first week of classes.
Some schools got started early last week. A lot of schools got going in
earnest this week. Of course, next week will be the first real week
of classes. You go to schoolon Monday, for instance, next week,

(54:30):
so everybody will get a chance toreally get into the fall patterned once
again, not only if the students, but parents out there and even if
you don't have kids out there,a lot more fall activities. Civic clubs
start getting back together. Zach Hitalatakes the snap for Colfax turn there was
nobody to give the ball to andhe gets devoured up in the backfield by

(54:53):
Land and Jorgensen. Loss of acouple of plays. They don't have to
run another play as coal Fax andwe'll see if they like to run a
point and I don't think they will. Is coaches begin to take off their
headsets on the side, so Callfaxwill let the clock expire, and this
game will hit the halftime with SpringValley up twenty three two zero. Well,

(55:19):
Spring Valley, if they're gonna wina third consecutive done Saint Croy Conference
title, they got to avoid upsets. This is one of those games that
if you play, the ever popularwin loss loss win win win loss game
that we all play when we lookat a football schedule, this is a
game if you're Spring Valley, youhave you have to win. They were

(55:39):
able to navigate through that first quarter, and they get through that second quarter
with a twenty three to zero lead. They're taking care of business. Yeah,
this is definitely a trap game forthem, and it's good to see
that they actually got some consistency downthe stretch because man, I could tell
from the Spring Valley student section overthere they were not having it with that

(56:00):
score, and you could tell whatthe coaches as well. Body language was
just off. It felt like theycame out really flat, zero to zero.
Offense was not going, But theykind of found their rhythm towards a
second with us, specifically with numberten Kate stacy Man was he flying around
the field, especially with that touchdowngrab, And of course, who can
forget the man of the hour, the running back that everyone loves, Diego

(56:24):
Schmidt. He's been he's been overthe field too. Even on defense,
he's been making some sure tackles andactually getting out there and playing in some
intense defense, which you don't expectfrom like a running back playing two positions.
Do you expect him to like kindof phone it in and maybe get
some tackles, maybe play some gooddefense. But he's been playing with high

(56:45):
energy on both sides of the ball, and as anyone and any fan anywhere,
you love seeing that all the wholethe we talked about if you want
to pull off an up set,you have to delay the inevitable until the
inevitable does not happen. Well, eventually, Spring Valley really got this thing
going. After three separate times coalFax defense held in putting on a couple

(57:08):
of first and goal to go situations, Spring Value able to force a safety.
Right after that, the Kate Stasicfifty five yard touchdown return on the
free kick that pretty much set thisgame into motion. Where it is right
now, so we're at half,it is twenty three to zero Spring Valley

(57:30):
on top of coal Faxt. We'lltake a break. When we come back,
we'll recap this game for you andwe'll have the second half Spring Valley
on top of coal Fax twenty threeto zero. More coverage of high school

At the half here in Colfax, all Spring Valley as they lead twenty three
to zero. It was zero zeroat the end of one quarter, but
Spring Valley able to break through inthe second quarter Kade Stasik with a fifty

(58:40):
five yard fifty five yard kickoff returnthat came right after a safety. Plus
Kade Stasick later on in the halfa ten yard touchdown reception, Diego smit
adding a touchdown run himself. Twentythree zero. Spring Valley leads this one

(59:00):
is they try to improve to fourand zero two and zero in the conference.
And this is a Spring Valley teamthat last year went a couple of
rounds deep into the playoffs. Theywere a young last year, they remain
young this year, but most ofthe team from last year is back again

(59:21):
this season. And if this teamkeeps progressing on through they could be a
force as four Colfax. The realityis admitted to by Joe Bronick, their
head coach. This is gonna bea multi year process for them that began
last season. One thing, theyjust do not have a lot of bodies
out there. You look out there, you barely have enough guys out there

(59:45):
that can help build a house. They just don't have a lot of bodies.
So this is gonna be a multiyear process. But they're hoping that
with each of these games, eachrep that these players are getting two things
are happ One, you're building aculture that other students want to be a
part of. Those that are infourth, fifth, sixth grade right now

(01:00:07):
want to be a part of whenthey get to high school. And for
the players that are out there rightnow, many of them are shy of
their senior years, so they've gotmore football left after this year. You
hope the benefit kicks in sooner ratherthan later. But as we look into
this second half, Dan, whatdo you think are some keys in this

(01:00:28):
second half? Colfax really needs toget started. Well, for Colfax especially,
they need to get started going onoffense here, they've been running the
ball almost merciless mercilessly, but notgetting much traction going there. Now on
the passing side, we have We'veseen one really really nice pass that unfortunately
got called back on a holding call. But this team has been trying to

(01:00:53):
fight their way through it with theirlow numbers. But Spring Valley has really
rocketed out of the gate and thespecially in the second quarter here. And
I can't say enough about Kate staySick. He's just been all over the
field on offense, on defense, making plays no matter what it is.
He's there, especially that kick returnedfor a touchdown. He was he was

(01:01:14):
absolutely moving on that right there. But also if your Spring Valley, you
need to keep up this intensity, keep up the momentum. You can't just
slowly just expect Colfax to roll over. This is still a young team that
has a bunch of fight in themstill, as we saw from that first
quarter it was zero to zero andthey were trying to take some heads off

(01:01:35):
out there by the way. Lookingahead at some of the schedules Colfax.
Next week, we'll be at TurtleLake, Spring Valley, we'll be at

he's not gonna be okay, okay, can't get a window open at the
press box, but we can seethat the Spring Valley Cardinals lead Colfax twenty
three to zero, and we'll getthe second half underway. Spring Valley will
kick the ball from our right toour left here in just a moment.

(01:04:19):
It's yeah, they got lights workingon in the field and the scoreboard works,
but we can't use the lights inthe press box because one of the
windows won't open, and they're tryingto video tape the game down to our
left, and if you've got thelights on, well then it ricochets off
of the windows. So Dan,I hope you're not afraid of the dark.

(01:04:39):
Oh no, not as much asColfax is probably afraid of Spring Valley.
Right now, then, tensity thatSpring Valleys showing that first half might
carry over here in the second half. We'll just have to see, though.

Colfax will start up first and tenfrom their own thirty five yard line,

(01:05:30):
So first and ten for Colfax. They really have not had any traction on
offense in this game. Spring Valleyhas given up some points in their first
few games this year, but whenthey really get going, it's hard to
score against them. We saw thatlate last season. Hitle look in the
pass, flushed out trying to runto the nearest Sabbay's pulled down from behind.

(01:05:53):
He had a lot of green grassin front of him for positive yardage,
but before he could go anywhere,he got a ripped down from behind
by Caleb Barco. Barco reached outwith his right hand, grabbed him and
pulled him down and hitola slow toget up a little wobbly as he got

(01:06:14):
up, and he's got to comeoff the field as the officials blew the
play dead for an injury to him. He wanted to stay out there,
but he's got to come out forat least one play and they'll send somebody
else in. Yeah, and hegot shaken up on that play there,
kind of got a little Rocks mighthave had his head slam into the turtle.
They just probably want to check himout for a concussion right now.

(01:06:36):
He did look a little wobbly gettingup, as you said. He lost
three on the play. Second downand thirteen back at their own thirty two
for Colfax. Drew Petner now ina quarterback Beatner trying to keep it himself
as he dives off the right ofthe center and lunches ahead for a couple

(01:06:58):
of yards back. They're just reallyisn't much as far as the offense for
Coalfax, it pretty much is whoeverthe quarterback is tries to take it themselves.
Yeah, just not a lot ofcreativity right now. It feels almost
monotonous watching the same few running backsor quarterbacks try and take off for a

(01:07:20):
few yards and just kind of gettingswarmed up there by Spring Valley. As
time goes on, they'll develop moreskill position guys and be able to have
a deeper playbook. Toss the KateAnderson trying to go to the far side,
but he caught the ball in thebackfield and was greeted by four Spring
Valley Cardinals who are there to bringhim down. Host of tacklers in there,

(01:07:44):
including for Spring Valley Connor Ericsson. And it will be fourth down in

Spring Valley up twenty three to zeroin this one, scoring all of the
points in the second quarter. Weare early in the third quarter. Hoffman
takes a knee high snap, he'llkick it away. Coming up to take
it is Stasick at his old fortyfive. Stasia to the fifty, going

(01:09:31):
to the far side, turns theedge. He's inside the forty five past
the Colfax forty end is poll downat the thirty eight first and ten for
Spring Valley. There as they'll lookto add to this twenty three to zero
leaves. And it looked like Stasickmay have had may want that one back.

(01:09:53):
That one looked like it could havegone for a little bit, but
it seemed like the Spring Valley blockingkind of wore off a little bit there,
and they're trying to shake off somerust from this halftime. Spring Valley's
offense has moved with ease. Attimes. They had hard time finishing off
some drives, but especially as thegame has gone along, they've controlled the

(01:10:15):
line of scrimmage. Option play comingto the near side, the pitch to
Keanan Rebelia. Robelia a lot orrunning coming to the near side, can't
quite turn the edge, however,as he is ripped down by Kate Anderson.
Still gained five yards on the playthough, And it'll be second out
and five from the plus thirty fouryard line, and a great tackle two

(01:10:40):
And he may have swung him arounda little bit like a ball arena,
but he definitely got him down.He had enough force to just push him
right down into the turf. Goodintensity to see coming out of the second
it's coming out of the second halffor Colfax. Here nine minutes left in
the third quarter, second out infive the plus thirty four. Off the

(01:11:00):
snap, Goveranowski dropped the ball, picks it back up though, and because
everybody had swung to me to theright, he had an opening up the
middle. He's able to dive aheadnear the first down marker. He's gonna
be a yard shy at the twentynine the old fumble Rooski player right there
as he dropped it on the exchangefrom the center but it ended up working

(01:11:24):
up because everybody had swung out tothe right there, including his lineman,
and he had room to go fora few yards. Third down in a
yard from just inside the thirty Varanowskiis gonna change the play as he stands
up behind the center, resets himself, snap hand off, Diego Smith first,

(01:11:46):
Donmar He's gonna go all the wayin from thirty yards out. Diego
Smidt on a simple belly handoff, goes sprinting up the middle untouched from thirty
yards touchdown Spring Valley and they leadtwenty nine to zero with eight seventeen to
go in the third quarter. Beautiful, beautiful job there by the linement of

(01:12:11):
Spring Valley to create such a hugegap in that line enough to drive an
almost freight train through there. Greatjob I spit to finish off that run,
very quick, very elusive, Yorkstrand metal roofing. Touchdown gate stasis

third quarter, it is thirty tozero in favor of Spring Valley. Spring

That was Zach, you've actually broughtthat of all I believe well they'll be

(01:14:12):
said it's a cool breeze in theair. Looked down below, a lot
of people have got those jackets onfor the first time. Little baby about
halfway down the bleachers in front ofus. Mom has entertained the baby with
a crumpled up water bottle, plasticwater bottle. Meanwhile, on first and

(01:14:41):

that baby big grin on its face. It's now successfully ripped that plastic water

and he has popped spun down infalls after a game of a couple of
yards as Diego Smith came right onin there and whacked him like somebody taking
a like somebody taking a long rakeat a hornet's nest. They're gonna give

(01:15:25):
him, They're gonna give him threeyards on the play. It'll be third
down and seven. You know,Dan, it's the first Friday that really
feels like the football season, notjust because of the leather, but the
NFL now is underway this weekend.College football's a weekend, so it's hard
to feel football in the middle ofAugust. He to look in the pass.

(01:15:46):
Now he's an address. Running onthe far side, he's gonna be
sacked in the backfield. Charlie Hallstand in there for Spring Valley. He
came rushing on through as though somebodysaid there was one last oriole left in
the tin and he wasn't gonna letanybody else get it. Drops him back
at the forty yard line, andit'll be fourth down and extremely long,

(01:16:12):
and Colefax will have to kick itaway. But again, it's hard to
feel football e in the middle ofAugust, when it's eighty eighty five degrees,
pools are still open. But nowit feels like football season. Often
to punt it away, gets theright footed kick away. Good kick here
that Rebelia has to go back andtake it his own. Twenty Now,
going on the far side, he'sgot good gain past the forty and is

(01:16:36):
out to his own forty two yardline. That's where Spring Valley will start
up this possession and let yeah, like you said, if fall has it
feels like false even though it's notofficially fall yet. It really does feel
like the football season started today, even though it technically started a few weeks

(01:16:59):
back. Feels like the real firstfootball game. You don't have to get
you don't have to have an ACunit and wherever you go, just to
stay cool and stay alive because ofhow hot it's been. But yeah,
it feels nice. It's great out. A few people probably gonna start up.
We might even go a bit that'ssmell in the air in a neighborhood
you're in. People might even gettheir fireplaces going a little bit tonight.

(01:17:25):
First and ten from they're own fortytwo and I carry through the right side
of the line by Trevor Forrester,a junior running back for Spring Valley,
that I'll get them four yards upto their own forty five yard line.
And now you're starting to see someother running backs start to get a little

(01:17:45):
bit of experience here, and that'skind of how you got to develop players.
You gotta let them have these kindof game time experiences, whether you're
up or down thirty and actually getsome runs in, get some get some
snaps. Five fifteen to play inthe third quarter, Spring Valley leads thirty
to zero Forrester, stays on hisfeet as he spins his way through the

(01:18:08):
line, stays on his tippy toesas he nearly fell down, runs past
the fifty, has the first doubtinside the forty five and down to the
forty two all coal Fax. Ikeep saying it, I'm gonna keep getting
I used to be alignment, soI've of course got to give the shout
out to the aligneman there. They'vebeen doing a great job for Spring Valley,

(01:18:30):
blocking very well against his coal Faxfront five. It wasn't that great
in the first quarter, but they'vereally hit their stride here, especially in
the second half. Both teams havedone this all on the ground today.
As here's Forrester kicking to the outside, it's the twenty down to the fifteen
yard line and a touchdown saving tackleby Austin Peterson. For coal Fax,

(01:18:55):
he went up the middle, bouncingto the outside, cut back up the
cut back to the middle, hada good run there for Forrester down to
the fifteen yard line, and SpringValley is motoring on through again. And
what can I say that everyone wastalking about Schmidt to start this game,
But now here comes Forrester when allthe when the game seems almost but over

(01:19:18):
it with a thirty nothing lead hereand he's just coming out and showing,
yeah, we still got some moreoomphing us. We got another good running
back out here Forrester again trying tokick to the outside. He's inside the
ten, down near the five onthe first down marker. He'll have it
inside the five and it will befirst in goal to go for Spring Valley.

(01:19:45):
Well again, we're here in Colfaxtoday. But one thing I recommend
everybody, if you get a chance, go check out a game at Spring
Valley. That is a unique atmospherethere in that bowl that they've got with
a big hill and big tall structure. That's still nobody after all these years
can tell me exactly what it everis. The parties that go on in

(01:20:06):
the neighborhood around the field, handoff Forrester and Forster's gonna punch it on
in. It almost seemed inevitable thathe was going to be the one that
got the touchdown, So Trevor Forsterfrom four yards out to carry up the
middle touchdown for Spring Valley. Theylead thirty six to zero, and that'll

(01:20:27):
set up a running clock situation. He got enough for a moment that didn't
thinking the where they're setting up Stasickoff for the extra point as it's thirty
six to zero Forrester picking up thetouchdown run for Spring Valley. I believe
that's his first of the year.Stasick line drive kick gets over the crossbar

the third quarter, Spring Valley takingcare of business. A lead an underman
Calfax team thirty seven to zero ballskicked off. Beatner takes it for Colfax
that is own twenty and comes tothe near side out of bounds past a
thirty yard line. Young man's downfor coal Fax. He'll be helped back

(01:22:23):
up by some members of the SpringValley team. That's Grant Cook, a
freshman for call Fax, and he'llstay in the game, not just because
he's tough, but because there justisn't a lot of guys available for Colfax.
On the sideline guys that are actuallydressed. There are also seven guys.

(01:22:43):
There's seven guys that can rotate inand there's still there's like three or
four players that aren't even dressed upright now for them too. They've got
they've had some they have some injuriesgoing on right now. Hand off here
to beatner, beatner, will Maryto the left side, nowhere to go,
gains maybe a yard now. Yousaw it last week in the area

(01:23:05):
Aliva strump bang their game with Mondovibecause of limited numbers and injuries and what
have you. You wonder if coalFax, you hate to see that happen,
if coal Fax gets to a pointwhere they have to do so.
The other thing they could consider asthey try to really rebuild this program is

(01:23:26):
going to eight man football. Butthat's not their point. You go to
eight man football, that's that's almosta permanent decision you're gonna do. So
this is gonna be a few yearsas they try to rebuild this thing.
Meanwhile, toss in the backfield topaidon. Holver's running for his life back
and around his own twenty yard line, got popped a couple of times,
staying on his feet, finally broughtdown. There is a flag drop that

(01:23:49):
the line of scrimmage, and we'llsee what the call is gonna be.
Call from the white cap is ahold on Colfax it's declined and it'll set
up third down and well, veryvery long balls inside their own twenty they

(01:24:09):
gotta get out to the forties,so they eat twenty one yards here.
And coaches hate when you go backlike that, especially when you have a
little bit of rooms to maybe gaina yard. You never go back where
it's it's just a death sentence foryou. A clock runs under forty to
go in the third quarter, ZachKetel. They bobbled the snap on the

(01:24:32):
exchange with the center and just fallson top of it. So that'll bring
up fourth down four Colfax and likelybe the last play all of the fourth
quarter. Is the clock will tickunder twenty five seconds to go in the
third quarter again. Next week we'llhave Fall Creek hosting Regis and a Culver

(01:24:53):
Belt Conference clash, likely for firstin the conference or a Sheriff first.
Well, that will be how thethird quarter comes to it end. Colfax
will boot the ball away to beginthe fourth quarter. All right, now,
at the end of three quarters ofplay on the weirds Galla Plumbing and
Heating scoreboard all Spring Valley, theylead here in Colfax thirty seven to zero.

to Spring Valley at Colfax Here DanielZohns and Scott Manzano on the call.
Really not much going here for Coalfax. It's been all Spring Valley up through
these three at up through these threequarters here and in the fourth quarters thirty

(01:26:26):
seven nothing with starting yet twelve minuteswith the Colfax Vikings about to punt from
their own twenty yard line about thehome twenty yard line here and Scott.
It's just not been a lot goingon for Colfax today. No, but
Spring Valley has been one of thebest teams in the conference for a while

(01:26:47):
now. Anyway. And here's thepunt. Oh, and it's crumbled my
number six, Caden Robella. Ashe turns up the field, he's past
the twine, he's past the thirty, he's past twenty five and propped down
kind of towards the twenty five yardline. Cayden Robella fumbled the ball on

(01:27:09):
the punt return, picked it upand was still able to gain a good
solid twenty twenty five yards on that. That's one of those things that the
best things come out of a mistake, you know. The slinky came out
of a mistake. Penicilling on outof a mistake, Velcrow, all that
sort of thing. Soap came outof a mistake. One of the old

(01:27:31):
one of the things. Right there, he bobbled the ball off his chest
as the ball came down. Andthen once the first wave came by and
missed him because him dropping the ballsort of threw everybody off timing, then
he had room to go. Youcan say that again. And here we
go with Governowski under center here attheir own at the Colfax thirty. Here

(01:27:56):
we go number twenty four right upthe middle turner, getting a couple of
yards, getting about five or sixyards there on the play for being brought
down by a group of Colfax vikingsthere and some good running by some of
these backup running backs that we've seenfor Spring Valley, really showing the youth

(01:28:16):
of this this Spring Valley roster.Spring Valley a team that last year really
had to redecide what they were goingto be after they had graduated so many
guys, and a credit to RyanCapping and his team, they pivoted entirely

(01:28:38):
to the run. Had a successfulseason last year and there's still remain a
young team, but they're more ofan experienced team now. And you look
at guys like governor Owski as asenior and Diego Smit your expect big things
out of these guys and Spring Valley. We'll call a time out so bo

with a running clock, a shortrun for number twenty four Ash Turner just

(01:30:12):
an absolute pile driver of the teamhere in Spring Valley, already thirty seven
nothing with nine thirty to go,third down and four with the now Wyatt
Governowski out and instead in replacement theyhave Whyatt Smith in to come and kind
of get this second units a chancehere all right, third down and four

(01:30:38):
nine eighteen left on the clock, and here's the snap up the middle.
There goes Ash Turner, big runthere about a gain of ten moves the
chains and that's another Spring Valley firstdown. I feel like I've been saying
that all game long, Scott,he'd been running the ball like animals.

(01:30:59):
It's just been crazy. Yeah,Turner a freshman for Spring Valley. He's
getting the bulk of the carries withunder nine minutes to go in the ball
game and the running clock. Yousaw Trevor Forrester get the carries on the
last possession before that culminated with himgetting a touchdown. It's a week in
which Ryan Kapping can give Diego smitsome I don't want to say rest because

(01:31:24):
Diego Smith's been out there playing defense, but can limit the pitch count for
his running back, Diego Smith. And here we go, first in time
under center, a little handoff thereto ask Turner again, and they had
a wide receiver go around the backsideto try and draw the defenders to over
to that left side. But allin all, they just kind of ran

(01:31:45):
right up the gut there with Turneragain and still nets them about five yards
on that play. Well again, you look at this Spring Valley team and
you never know what game is gonnabe. The big game coming up for
them, Turtle Lake next week.Turtle Lake came into play today one hand
zero if Turtle Lake defeats Boysville, they'd be two hand zero in the conference.

(01:32:08):
You never know, but that gameagainst god in a couple of weeks
looks big, and elmwood Plum sittingin Boysville late in the season could also
be important games. Turner gets, gets the hand off again, kind of
spins a little bit and ends updown towards the five yard line, just

(01:32:28):
slowly, slowly, slowly moving thatball up chunk by chunk, and another
pick up a five here by thisteam, by the Spring Valley team who's
been just kind of running it outthe clock, but still getting a good
push out there. And as acoach, you'd love to you love seeing
this young team take those steps inthese like what do you say, wading

(01:32:51):
clock, waiting clock, big blowoutmoments to get get their feet wet,
get them some snaps, get themsome experience, and see them continue to
move on. So here we arefirst and five. Can't get a first
down here, but you can't geta touchdown still running with Wyatt Smith under

(01:33:12):
center here man in motion. Smithtries to take himself into the end zone
and he will. Wyatt Smith witha five yard touchdown, keeper right up
the gut. He had a littlebit of resistance, but he just kept
turning those legs and the young andthe young quarterback gets his touchdown here in
this game, forty three nothing, six twenty still running on the clock.

(01:33:36):
So a buerku strand metal roofing touchdownfor Spring Valley. And I gotta remember
this was a zero zero game afterthe first quarter. But Spring Valley flip
the whole game around about five minutesinto the second quarter. They forced a
safety and then got a fifty fiveyard touchdown return on the ensuing free kick,

(01:34:00):
and the game was pretty much decidedat that point. Up until then,
Colefax had had some of the recipesfor an upset tonight, but they
just could not move the ball offensivelyin Spring Valley, is gonna go for
two here? And asked Turner gettingthe carry on that one gets the two
point conversion, and here it's aforty five nothing game. I don't really

(01:34:26):
know why they went for two here. Maybe to kind of runs some extra
plays for these young guys, butnot really much to achieve there with a
two point conversion. We've seen themkick all night long, and you haven't
seen any misses from kicks. Hellen, Well, maybe Kade Stasis on the
bench for the rest of the game. As he gets the rest of the
night off, well Spring Valley willtake a forty five to zero lead six

a ball to fall off the Andnow his teammates are coming over to help

And there they go. Number fortygot it all up and right again.
Mason Winger back to kick and we'reoff a little pooch kick there, picked

(01:36:25):
up by number twenty two for Coalfax, Kad Anderson. He got a little
bit of run there. He's gota little bit towards the fifty yard line
of Spring Valley, or nearest theSpring Valley bench, and what looked like
a little duck of a play thereon the kick return turns into him a
little bit more. Oh for aColfax is don't start off at the fifty

(01:36:47):
yard line and scoring a touchdown heredoesn't change the ultimate outcome of this game,
but it would feel quite good forthem. Colfax was shut out against

try to build the culture here,if they can get a late touchdown,
it gives you a little glimmer ofsunshine on a cloudy day on the scoreboard,

(01:38:45):
coaching staff and medical personnel out toattend to him. So while they look
at him. A reminder. Nextweek, Colverbelt Conference action will have read
Just at Fall Creek and Fat.The next couple of weeks it'll be Culverbelt
Conference action again as we'll have Regisnext week and the week after that before

(01:39:10):
we get back into the done SaintCroix Conference. We'll have Spring Valley at
Cadot at the end of the monthand we'll see how big of a game
that is when it shows up.Some big games to keep an eye as
the scores will come through. TonightCadot was already zero and one of the

(01:39:30):
conference at zero and one Elmwood PlumCity. What do the you know what
happens in that game. Cadot's gotbig visions this year that'll make a big
difference. Meanwhile, Kate Anderson hassat up that's good to see him,
and we will help from the coachingstaff. They'll pull him to his feet

(01:39:53):
and he'll get a run of applausefrom the Colfax supporters that are below our
broadcast position. Still hasn't walked offthe field quite yet. When play resumes,
it'll be first and ten four coalFax at the plus thirty nine yard
line and five fourteen left to gorunning clock situation, though it does stop

(01:40:15):
during an injury. Forty five zeroSpring Valley leads, and by the way,
for Spring Valley, forty five pointsthe most points they've scored this season.
They came into this game having scoredeighty five points in each of the
last two games. It is theirthird straight game of scoring more than forty

(01:40:38):
points. All right, Anderson walksoff the field, will be a ten
to two more on the New Year'ssideline. And it's good to see him
get off on his own power.I don't know what happens to him,
but it's good to see him getoff. But here we are, first
and ten, five aweight to go, forty five nothing and here goes Zach
hands it right up the middle.Oh no, he made a bag and

(01:41:00):
it's all going around the right sidetowards that Spring Valley and right into the
Spring Valley bench. Actually and wow, a great a pretty great run.
They've had a couple of good runshere to start off this. Uh,
this kind of back end of thequarter here, since they actually got the
ball. If they've had a fewgood runs here, yeah, paid and
over agains five yards on the playon the pitch to the right side.

(01:41:24):
I'll be second down and along fivefrom the thirty five yard the line of
Spring Valley Colfax on the move. Here here we are Zach Heedel under center
waiting to take the snap. Takesthe snap right up the middle. Go

(01:41:45):
as Heedel runs over a player butinitially does not really break past the line
of scrimmage, kind of just getbowls over. One player gets down onto
the ground as bringing him down wasnumber forty for Spring Valley. Mister Mason

(01:42:06):
Winger. I feel like I've talkedto about him a bunch of this game
too. He's kind of been flyingall over the defense and he's made some
plays, especially in containment of thatColfax running game, which was pretty good
coming into this game, but wehaven't seen that much so far until now.
With Wayne and clocks three thirty fiveto go. Third down in five,

(01:42:29):
zach Heedeli, running around the outsidecorner, breaks the tackle, gets
the first down and is down closetowards the twenty five yard line with three
twenty two remaining and a new setof downs for the Colfax Vikings as he
said, it would not change thewind loss column here, but Colfax as

(01:42:50):
they try to again build a culturescoring some lay points here. We just
feel good for the guys on thesideline, and if the eyes on the
sideline feel good, and they're yourbest recruiter in terms of getting more guys
into the program in the next twoto three years. Zakhila under center,

(01:43:13):
takes the snap handoff right up thegut and there goes number six Drew Buchner
right up the middle, gets towardsthe secondary and gets brought down close towards
that first down marker. They're notgonna give it to him just yet,
but he got a good chunk yardsthere, and you're starting to see him
get a little bit of rhythm here. A little bit late to say,

(01:43:35):
a little bit late to say theleast. There's forty five nothing running clock
with two twenty left, but atouchdown would feel really nice here if you're
this young Colfax squad. Just somethingto take into next week, something to
build momentum. La takes the snapright up the gut once more time and
gains maybe a couple more yards.Just swarms, absolutely swarmed by the Spring

(01:43:59):
Valley defense. And I believe theysubbed out multiple Spring Valley defenders and have
some younger players in there, andthey're still making some plays. What do
you think about that? Scott Heythere? Yeah, you know, the
Spring Valley has been a long timefootball machine in this conference. Now they
they're freshmen, Their sophomores are guysthat are gonna be players for them in

(01:44:21):
two three years. And here's Hilaunder center, one loan back behind him.
He goes for the past, cleanpocket floats it up in a touchdown
for number eight Peyton Hoverer. Beautifulpro a little bit of a chuggle,
but he comes down with it andPolbax gets their first touchdown of the game.

(01:44:44):
Forty five to six. Wow,Yes, Zach hitl his first touchdown
pass off the season, and that'llcut the deficit to forty five to six
with one twenty six left to play. I tell you over caught that ball
and he bobbled it for a littlebit like somebody holding on to a newborn

(01:45:06):
baby when he was not going toallow that thing to fall. And now
time out taken by COLFAXX their lasttime out is they had to get set
up for the extra point situations. They're gonna use their last time out,
but they a little fifteen yard touchdownpass over gets the touchdown reception and Colfax

(01:45:28):
will not be shut out. Goodfor the confidence, really good for the
confidence for that team coming into thisnext week. Here, Let's see if
they can kind of build momentum offof this. So we'll end up having
is we'll have the extra point tryhere in a moment it's still gonna be
running clock situations. So then Coalfactwill kick the ball to Spring Valley and

(01:45:49):
likely a couple of plays and thisgame will come to it. Any One
thing I wanted to mention this wementioned earlier, this big athletic plot of
land that Colfax has, the Lee, the York Lee, the york Quist.
There we go leave the york QuistAthletic Complex here in Colfax, named

(01:46:10):
after the long time superintendent here whowas the superintendent leave york Quist was the
superintendent here from eighty two to twothousand and six. Wow, twenty four
years. Imagine that longevity nowadays inschool administration. Hewell Drew Drew Beatner for
the extra point, hits it offthe upright and missus, so Beatner,

(01:46:33):
missus the extra point. The deficitwill stay forty five to six with about
a minute twenty five to go.So still a running clock situation. But
yeah, the old superintendent here fortwenty four years was the superintendent. And
that's the way it used to beused to have a superintendent for ten fifteen,

(01:46:53):
twenty years in a school district. Not quite the not quite the same
nowadays for any number. Times arechanging. Times are changing, that's for
sure. But yeah, the athleticcomplex named after him. And one of
those reminders when you walk into someof these places, all these places have
five six names to them named afterthis person, an apt person. When

(01:47:15):
you walk into any one of theseathletic fields, or any most every place
in our country, random buildings arenamed after somebody. Take a home and
read the read the plaque, seewhy the burden the place is named after
somebody. If there's a plaque. They did something other than just pay for
it. Cameron Molina, the bigboy's gonna kick it off for Callfax.

(01:47:40):
Wow, what a leg as hegoes as it gets kicked back to number
twenty on Spring Valley Colin Brunner andhe gets a little bit of yardage there
too. What a kick. Thatwas a nice kick by Cameron Molina.
He hasn't been kicking all a year. And suddenly comes up for one play
and with a minute left here,a minute seven to be exact, it's

(01:48:03):
they really don't have to do alot here. It's forty five to six
first down in ten less than aminute ago, and Spring Valley's gonna come
away with this one with a big, big win and a little bit of
confidence for the Colfax with that finaltouchdown. But really not the most entertaining

(01:48:27):
of games here today, however,we had some big moments, specifically with
the kick return with the safeties.Just a lot going on here today,
and it looks like they're in victoryformation about to take the knee. And
there we are with twenty five secondswaning. Not much to say here as

(01:48:49):
Colfax trots off the field and SpringValley at this point that the bread basket
is empty, just waiting for thecheck to arrive. Last of ten seconds,
we'll take down and this one willgo into the books. We had
Spring Valley winning this one over Calfax, going away forty five to six.

(01:49:11):
Teams of meet at midfield. SpringValley takes care of business as they avoid
the upset tonight and win again goingaway forty five to six. We'll take
a break, we'll come back.Put this game into an eat little package
for you and Sarah. Final goodbye. This is high school football action on
Moose Country one oh six point seven. This has been a special presentation of

(01:49:36):
