(00:03):
He welcome back in here to Raymerfieldthe end of the national anthem. As
we get ready for football here betweenthe Oaclaire North Huskies and the River Falls
wildcatspeaknots along with Dan Zon's bringing youour final game of the regular season,
and if o' claire North makes itnext week, a chance we could maybe
go on the road and follow theHuskies to wherever they might go. If
(00:24):
they do not, oakleaar regis maybea team we pick up next week here
on the Classic Rock as well.So just stay tuned to our social media
and to our website and all thatgood stuff onto what we'll be covering next
week in the playoffs should be alot of fun. As you hear the
announcement of the starting lineups here forthis River Falls team, and yeah,
you'd imagine, I mean, asyou look at this Dan we talked about
(00:47):
Jonah Severson. As we look atthe Lars Galla Plumbing and heating lineups,
you'll get Steeverson for the Wildcats.Obviously, Jacob Range a very good quarterback
as well, but I mean,at six foot three and five pounds a
senior running back twenty touchdow, Imean he'll be playing on Saturdays. There's
no doubt about that. And he'sjust all you know, he's kind of
everything that's been, he's been, you know, made out to be,
(01:08):
I guess you want to say.And you know, of all the running
backs we've seen in the big rivers, there's been some good runners, I
would say, but he's the guywho might be the most traditional good running
back that we might see this entireseason. And if North can't fill the
gap, so night, it's goingto be a long night for the Huskies.
Oh yeah, And that's been oneof their issues, especially for most
of this last for most of theselast few games too, especially against teams
(01:30):
like Menominee and even last week, they had some struggles with being able to
just close down on gaps and beable to fill up. And they have
the big defensive linemen to do that. However, they're just not really getting
to their spots in the right times, and they've also faced some pretty good
offensive lines as well. However, this is the night your backs against the
(01:52):
wall if you want to be ableto make it to the playoffs and have
a chance at breaking that spell that'sreally cursed you since nineteen ninety eight.
This is the night to do it. This is the night to lay it
all out on the line against agreat team like River Falls. River Falls
went ten to two last season andthey were eliminated in the Level three of
the playoffs by West of Pier.Western Pier took care of New Richmond the
(02:12):
week before that as well, sothey kind of made it through a lot
of the Big Rivers Conference in thatsense as well. River Falls one last
season's game against Oaklaire North thirty oneto nineteen, and the Wildcaps hold a
twenty four and eight record in gamesplayed since nineteen eighty one. You mentioned
the rush defense for North that maybe a bit of a concern. They
do give up one hundred and fiftyfive yards per game and this offense games
(02:36):
two hundred and twenty nine yards perper game on the ground due the Wildcats.
Like we said, we are positionedright behind the student section four River
Falls and it is easily the mostpopulated section here tonight at Ramerfield, it'll
be North to kick things off. They'll move from left to right here on
your radio dial, it will bethe River Falls Falcons from right to left
(02:58):
here in the first quarter. Sothe kickoff coming here for Oa Claire North
to start things off. It lookslike Aaron Soldberg is going to get those
duties here tonight. And again thenumber a number of number changes, if
you will, as Cam Olsen willbe wearing the zero jersey tonight, Travian
Johnson will be wearing the one jerseyas well. So all that is something
we'll keep our eyes on Tom andsend back to return along with Charlie Loche
(03:24):
for the Wildcats. We're ready forfootball the final week of the regular season.
Can North cap off what was agreat start to the season with a
chance to get in the playoffs? Here we go downfield. It go as
a squibkick taking by one of theupbacks here at the twenty three yard line,
and right up the gutty goes tothe thirty five and spun down near
the thirty eight yard line on thereturn for the up back in Joseph Karowitch.
(03:46):
And it will now be a starthere for River Falls. A pretty
good field position at their own thirtyeight yard line. Yeah, not a
bad field position here, and we'regonna see you really early on what kind
of team this O Claire North defensewants to because we've seen the bright sides
of this team early on in theseason, they completely zeroed out Superior to
start it off. But they've reallybeen lacking these last few games with amount
(04:11):
of injuries, just fatigue in general, not really finding their consistency. But
they have a chance to show tonightthat they deserve to at least be in
consideration for the playoffs. Under center, he goes in a fumbled snap.
This is gonna be scooped up atthe thirty ten d North has it.
North has it at the thirty yardline. A fumbled snap by the quarterback
in Jacob range and the North Huskycoaches over to our right are loving what
(04:35):
they see as I believe it waspicked up by Kate Johnson or was it
Heinbuck who maybe picked that one up. Regardless, Nord's gonna have it at
the River Falls thirty yard line. And that's the problem with having to play
these rainy games is that you're gonnahave a struggles on the struggles on the
snaps, but also struggles on thehandoffs. And there that was just a
(04:56):
struggle all around by the quarterback,Jacob. He just could not get a
handle the ball. Not only didit like get well not only was it
a short snap, he could justnot grab on to a leading until that
turnover. A great job by KayJohnson just land on it. And now
Oakleaar North has a chance on offenseand it will be shipping out as the
quarterback. He hands off to Olsenrunning right, spins into a tackle and
(05:17):
goes down at about the twenty eightyard line. Tackle on the play by
Jacob Range, the Wildcats quarterback whojust fumbled, so he's probably smarting and
wanting to make it play on thedefensive side. Two yard gain. It
is second and eight. Yeah,I'm cam Olsen's another guy to watch.
We talked all about great player fora great player Jonash steven Severson who has
(05:41):
almost eighteen who has almost one thousand, four hundred yards on the season rushing
through the eight games. But man, does Cam Olsen have a great track
record too. He bounces on theright side of the line, could never
really get around the end, andthere's Range again to take him down.
On the second play from scrimmage forOaklare North. It's a yard maybe two.
It's gonna bring up third and sevennow at the twenty seven yard line
(06:04):
of River Falls and on a nightwhere it's rainy and wet and with not
a great kicking game forro Claire North. This is already four down territory.
Oh yeah, definitely, I wouldexpect something a little short, maybe a
short pass. I don't know,it's gonna be a little bit hard to
get into their routes with the Withhow it looks on the field over there,
you can kind of see the darksplotches where there are more water than
(06:24):
on the other side. So youhave to really be careful here to not
mess up. Burns left, Johnsonright. They handed off to Olsen.
He gets past to twenty five, but then it's just stacked up by a
defender at about the twenty three yardline there. Tackle was made by number
forty four Riinley Oustgard and it willset up about a fourth and let's call
(06:45):
it four here at the twenty fourfour And I would expect a little bit
of trickery to start this one offhere, not really being not really a
lot of variation, kind of justcam Olson one, two, three,
and here we go. So let'ssee if they kind of change this up
a little bit. Johnson goes left, and once again it is Burns to
the right of the formation near hashmarkleft to right. Keep her here for
(07:08):
Shipman looking for the edge. Canhe find it? He cannot, could
not find the edge. And thecontainment from this river Falls defense very good
on this first drive and despite thefumble, four straight plays, all rushes
and they can't pick up ten yards. It's just turnover undowns. And I
expect just the whole rushing game todayand already we're already seeing it with eu
(07:28):
Claire North four straight runs and couldnot really get anything started. River Falls
defense was able to counter each andevery one of them, knowing that they
have a great runner and cam Olsenand Shipman right behind him to be able
to kind of vary and figure outtheir offense, but just not really much
going. So river Falls takes overat their own twenty four yard line,
(07:49):
handoff up the gut to their primetailback there in Jonas Severson. He gets
a couple to about the twenty sevenyard line. We'll call it a three
yard game second and seven here orfor river Falls rather and I expect a
lot more from Steversent. He isjust an absolute great in between tackle.
Runners can be a bit patient, might not want to be too patient this
(08:11):
game, with how slippery it is, could be a little slippery and sliding
around in that backfield if he's notcareful. Toss it to Severson. He's
got the first down. I thinkacross the thirty yard line. He's trying
to get around the edge here. Now they stop the clock. Is there
a flag back? I believe thereis near the line of scrimmage. Let's
listen to Chad mckeithrin, who's theofficial, is holding on river falls.
(08:33):
So this is coming back after whatlooked like it was about a six to
seven yard gain for a first down. Here's the call holding Bentley on the
wildcatch. See the microphone even pickingup some water as well. So I
got just put back to the seventeenand so second down and about sixteen here
(08:54):
and call it second and seventeen officiallyhere for the Wildcats? Is there backing
up? Now? The Wildcats aregoing into the wind at the moment,
and it's a strong one about fifteenmiles an hour. It's sort of a
cross wind, but if there's anywind helping or hurting, it's definitely into
them. It's kind of blowing towardthe breast box here, which is from
the east to the west, sokind of an awkward wind, if you
(09:16):
will. They pitch it out onthe right side, looking for a cut
across the twenty and getting to aboutthe twenty three yard line is Severson,
so he gets a lot of thatpenalty yardage back. But now third and
about nine coming up from the twentyfour. Here for the wildcast. And
this is where playing into the wind'sgonna hurt you. As you can see,
the flags are just going crazy onthose goal posts. But that just
(09:37):
means that you're gonna have to bevery accurate with your throes and almost overextend
yourself if you're gonna try and doa passing down here. However, their
running back's good enough to potentially beable to pick up that yardage, and
even if you don't, it's noloss, no foul. If you're able
to punt this away, you're stillearly on in this game. So they
will look to pitch. No,it'll be a keeper here running around the
edge. Could North get him? They can? They wrap a up on
(10:00):
the keeper for range around the leftside. He gets to the twenty seven.
They needed the thirty three at least, if not the thirty four for
a first doun. So just acouple on the play. We'll call it
a three yard run and now it'sfourth down, a river falls will have
to punch. And that was justa great job by the Oaklare North containment.
Both of these defenses able to containearly on, not really letting either
team really get along the outside, except for that Severson run which ended up
(10:22):
getting called back on a holding penalty. Wonder why that went so far on
that one, but so far.Good job by both of these defense to
really recognize that both of these teamsare gonna run. Maddex Gertz is back
to return the punt. It isan okay punt here. It actually got
shanked there. We got up intothe lights and up into the rain that's
(10:43):
splattering across the windows here in frontof us as it goes out of bounds
at the Oaklaire North forty sixth yardline. So just about a twenty oh
just under a thirty yard punt, which isn't terrible going into the wind.
But Oakclaire North takes over with againgood field position after turning the ball over
on downs on their first possession.Yeah, not as great as that first
(11:05):
one, but definitely definitely great fieldposition to be in, better than River
Falls has gotten these last few times. So let's see if this oau Claire
North offense gets a little bit morevariation than just cam Olsen to the right
side three times in a row againstseven thirty nine left first quarter, no
score as it is shipping back inat quarterback. No Peyton mccrackett at the
moment. Is a handoff a littledelay here for Olsen. He does get
(11:28):
a little bit of the edge here, falls up to the fifty yard line
before he is tripped up by PrestonJohnson. Again, a pretty decent run
there on the right side. Hewas one tackle away from finally getting and
breaking that containment on the outside.Yeah. Really, you could see it
in his eyes when he was runningfast here. You could see him really
wanting that one too. He wantsto be the one to break it off
(11:48):
each and every single time because he'sjust got that ferocity in him. He's
always the kind of playmaker that wantsto bowl through every single player and go
make a play. And he's gonnahave his chances for this one because it's
gonna be a primarily running game. And there he goes again ball at the
fifty, you'll go up the gunlittle counter from left to right. He
gets two maybe three on the play. Multiple Wildcats met him on the play.
(12:11):
We'll call it Lucas Johnson on thetackle there give him about three to
the River Falls forty seven yard lineand now third and three four oaklare North
and that was a perfect tackle onCamulson too. That's just something else that
you're gonna have to know. CamOlson's a tough runner to bring down.
But if you're able to get lowenough to where you're able to just grab
(12:31):
his legs and bring him up andput him down out of the air,
you're gonna be able to take himand you're gonna be able to contain them
very well. That's how o theirteams have been able to contain cam Olson.
However, however, they have beenable to He averages almost five yards
of carry, so he's not reallythe easiest to stop out there, but
that's gonna be the way you doit. North has to get this playoff
here. This is gonna be adelayed game, and there it is.
(12:52):
Officials are have the pink flags tonight. I think breast cancer awareness deal here
this evening there's some guy's wearing somepink socks as well for U River Falls,
and the officials are scoring the pinkFLEs tonight. But it is a
delay of game. And that's onewhere Shipman just did not recognize the count
(13:13):
coming from the back judge at something. You gotta be a little more aware
of third and eight, Yeah, and that's what that's the troubles about having
a younger quarterback out there. Shipmanmay be more athletic and more of a
gifted runner than mc kraken might be. However he is not. He's not
really had the game experience to understandlike that. There is a running clock
(13:33):
back there. You have to beable to get that off. You're not
going to always be able to besaved by a coach calling a timeout.
So this is just one of thelicks he's gonna take as a young quarterback.
Under six minutes left to play firstquarter, don't score two receivers left,
one right here for Shipman, ballin the near hash left right,
third and eight. They need toget to the River Falls forty four yard
line back to pass Shipman. Hewants to launch just one deep down on
your side up for Johnson and completeits office hands. Should have been a
(13:56):
touchdown. Holy Cowie threw that absolutelyperfect Johnson and unbelievable, But that one
did not fall into the hands ofJohnson. Johnson, I don't know.
He put those hands up late likehe was trying to deep the defender,
but that kind of threw him off. I think a bit. Oh yeah,
I think so too. That oneshould have been a That really should
have been a touchdown on Johnson there, and he's one of their shorthanded receivers
(14:18):
to nineteen receptions, two hundred andsixty seven yards and three touchdowns on the
year, tied for first and touchdownson this team with Brady Jensen, who
is another sure handed guy. That'sgonna see a lot of run out there.
But you know Johnson's gonna want thatone back. Is now they're forced
to punt once again. Two returnersback here for river falls as they will
punt and they will get it awaypretty decent punt here to the near side
(14:39):
by Perkins, and it will goout of bounds near the twenty yard line.
Let's see where they end up markingit, okay, and it will
be you can hear that win reallywhipping up marked out of bounds at the
sixteen yard line, can have alittle bit of win with him, So
it ends up working out as apretty false decent months of about thirty seven
yards and it's first and tent herefor River backed up inside their own twenty.
(15:01):
Yeah, and the returner, PrestonJohnson, who also leads this River
Falls team and interceptions with three onthe season, had a little bit almost
a little bit of trouble gathering thatone because he couldn't really tell where that
ball was landing because the wind pickedit up and kind of sailed that on
him, so he had to makean almost receiver like back shoulder catch on
it. Range will pitch it overon the left side to Severson following his
(15:24):
blockers across the twenty and he getsnear the twenty two yard line. Will
be about a six yard gain onfirst down. Nice run there by Kay
Johnson in on the stop, butabout a six yard gain on first dound.
This is what they're used to seeing. Severson averages five point nine yards
per carry. They like the fivesix yards per carry. Just pick up
the first down to kind of movethe move the clock, move the chains,
(15:45):
and do their thing. Yeah,if they didn't get set back on
that penalty flag. With a holding, they probably could have been able to
melk a little bit more of that. Going down the field, Severson of
a hole up the middle, hitsthe line at the twenty five. He's
going to close to the first downmarker. It was a nice job by
Kate Johnson to get in there andmake the stop. But I think he's
got the first down very close. They're calling it third down, I think
(16:08):
on the far sideline, but it'sgot to be thirty bring just past the
twenty five. It's very very close, like that's almost touching the first down
marker there. You can see ithere. But a great job by this
River Falls offensive line to keep pushingthat defensive line. And this defensive line
has had its troubles, but it'strying its best right now to stop Severson.
And there's a quarterback keeper and he'sgonna stay on his feet and the
(16:30):
ball fall out thought for a momentit did no later lad coming in thirty
five yard line on the keeper herefor Jacob Rain and what do we have
here? That came in from theheadline judge on the far side. He
threw it high in the air.It wasn't like he was throwing it at
a spot. Dan. It makesme think it's like a unsportsman I's sure
(16:52):
enough unsportsmanlike call sideline warning on theUH Huskies and no warning. I guess
we're just gonna get a straight upfifteen unsportsmanlike on the sideline. So you
wonder if maybe Pat McGinnis or maybesomebody on the sideline said something to the
line shops midfield. The only wayI can think that they would mark that
(17:15):
that way and not just give ita warning that something, you know,
the magic word had to be saidor something like that. Yeah, unmust
unless they had already been warned priorto that too. Yeah, not sure
exactly what happened, but it isa first down. It would have been
a first down anyway now for surea first down. As the ball's moved
up to the fifty yard line,Severson gets the pitch left side pooge hold
of a forty five and then getsstripped up at the forty three yard line
(17:37):
as the Huskies again a little bitlate in getting there. Stapp by ty
Shock jun A had about a sevenyard game there once again for Severson,
and it's second and three. SomethingI will say, even though it doesn't
seem like much as this river fallsoffense is kind of running through Oa Clare
North right now, both teams havesays, very high intensity. Both teams
know what's at stake here, andthis defense is hitting hard. Right now,
(18:03):
it's again another pitch of Severson runningleat big hold of forty cuts at
the thirty five then taken down upnear the thirty two yard line and Capen's
against Shot and Johnson were there, but not until he got into the secondary
to the thirty two yard line andgets the first down line and just not
great containment there on that outside edgefrom the Eau Claire North team. However,
(18:26):
they had been doing so great beforehand, but now they're just not really
able to not really able to keepSteverson contained on that far left side and
it keeps breaking down these big formations. Again, they pitched the severs and
no hole. Now he's going tocounter back. He's got some space stif
arm at the twenty five far sideof the twenty between the hash and the
numbers down inside the ten, andhe's taken down at about the five yard
(18:47):
line by Kroy Linman. But boy, what a counter. The entire Husky
defense moved to the near side ofthe field. He's so open green he
went forty and that's why he's sucha dangerous rusher. He got the awareness
to and he's also tall enough tobe able to see over almost every lineman
and see the perfect round to take. And notice the entire par right outside
(19:07):
of the field had only one personback to stop him, and that was
Linnman. Great job on him tomake that open field tackle on a really
hard running back to bring down. But if you're old Claire North, you
need to sure that side up.They will give it to Severson right up
the gut again. He will justpush into the ends of Luger. He
just runs a Husky over. Hestares him down as he goes into the
end zone. It's six nothing Wildcats, two fifty nine left to go.
(19:30):
First quarter, and just like that, river Falls takes the lead with a
little bit of bravado from their sixfoot three, two hundred and four pound
senior running backs. Yeah, andthat was a great job by him just
to walk right in there, andalso a great job by the offensive line
for river Falls to create enough ofa gap for him to just almost steamroll
right through and kept had a littlebit of an uneven matchup between him and
(19:53):
a member of the secondary. Therenot a great uh, not a great
time to be a five foot nineguy against six three hundred pound man.
The extra point is up and itgives I'm good, just knocked through by
a cabin carm fell and it's sevento nine things. Wildcats with the lead,
two fifty nine left in the firstquarterback after this here on Classic Rock
(20:14):
ninety two one. This is soclear high school football on Classic Rock ninety
two one one kids loose cacious autosking He'll find the run car for you.
Yeah you ho Leon Birch Street andOlclarius Droom and Strews. The only
(20:40):
one game Legitlong Valley is that, son O. Your home for the Huskies
is Classic Rock nightety two one.Welcome back in here to River Falls,
Wisconsin, Raymerfield seven nothing Wildcats withthe lead on Oaklaire Nor two fifty nine
(21:02):
left to go, first quarter.A five yard touchdown run for Jonah Severson
Dan by Mike Count. He's alreadyup to sixty eight yards in a touchdown.
And this is why this kid israttling off so many yards, six
yards per carry and he's almost whatat the one hundred and seventy ish yard
mark per game. This kid isa special running back to watch. Oh
yeah, you know, you knowhe's gonna be getting some looks in the
(21:23):
college field too. He's been justabsolutely stunning to watch out there on the
field. He's been absolutely magnificent. But this, this is what this oaklaier
Nor team expected. They were goingto run that entire offense through Severson,
and so far there hasn't been asingle pass on the River Falls side.
In fact, there's only been onepass all game, and that's been that
drop pass from T. J.Johnson shawf and Johnson back to return.
(21:47):
But it's one of the up backsbobbling it at the thirty two and just
falling on it. And I thinkthat was Jensen there. Yeah, the
tight end who was one of theblocking men on the special teams unit,
just falls on it at the thirtytwo and that's where North takes over and
it's their worst field position of thenight. Yeah, and that's something to
say because most people would love anythingthirty plus. However, they've had a
(22:08):
chance at the River Falls close tothe River Falls thirty and also at almost
at their own forty six yard line. So it's been interesting to watch so
far. But this Oa Claire Northoffense really needs to wake up. Their
defense has done their job so farother than allowing that touchdown on their third
dry on the River Falls third driveof the game. Still Shipman in at
(22:30):
quarterback. He will give it toOlson trying to counter up the gut gets
to the line of scrimmage and thenhis push backwards by Lincoln McCarty after getting
a yard of the thirty three yardline. And it's second and nine really,
and this River Falls defensive line isright now winning the battle in the
trench against the Oak Claire North offensiveline. There is almost nowhere to run
(22:51):
for cam Olson right now as they'retrying to open up some kind of angles.
And right now it's just cam Olsontrying to run through tacklers upon TACs,
and the River Falls is doing agreat job containing and just not allowing
any big runs so far from Olsenagain, we'll see to the near side
Travian Johnson, and now a shiftof the tight ends to the near side
(23:12):
including Jensen, and they'll give itto Olsen. They run right They go
to the thirty five. He getsstripped up across the thirty five to about
the thirty seven, maybe the thirtyeight, and again a good job there.
A little bit of misdirection here. They loaded up left side, then
they put everybody in motion just tomaybe get the Wildcats defense a little lot
of position and ended up working.Okay, they got four yards. Yeah,
(23:33):
they're gonna need to do a fewmore things like that, more,
a little bit more counters to kindof draw off that Wildcats defense that knows
that most of this offense is throughthat running game. For this Wildcat team,
they're not They don't have McCracken inthere, so they know there's not
gonna be a lot of passes withshipmen. But we have seen one pass
it It was a good one.It was a very good one. Gravian
(23:55):
Johnson dropped what should have been atouchdown, streaking down the near side,
had single coverage and had a littlebit of separation too. He's near side
again. Third and five. Theyneed the forty two yard line in a
whistle and Matt McGinnis saw the clockat least the count coming from the back
judge and decided, I don't wantanother delay of game penalty, so he
takes the time out to save thatfrom happening. Here again, a cold
(24:15):
night, a blustery night. Let'stake a quick look around the BRC,
and of course the big one tonightis the game that is for the Big
Rivers Conference Championship between Hudson and NewRichmond this evening and they're late first quarters,
still no score in New Richmond.Hudson with the ball in that game,
Chipway has a seven to nothing leadon Superior in the first quarter.
(24:37):
We'll try to get you some updatesin that game between Memorial and me Nominee,
but having some issues with the livestream there. It is eighty six.
I couldn't tell you if it's FallCreek ERMANDOV who's lead that game before
twenty three they got They've got somewater on their camera issues going on there.
But it's a close one between FallCreek Mondovi. Why that matters is
(24:59):
because Oakleay Regis one last night. If Mondovi wins, they'll get a share
of the Clover Belt Championship with OaklaireRegis. If they lose to Fall Creek,
o'clare Regis wins the clover Belt outrightwith that result from last night and
there went over Ossio Fairchild. Sowe'll keep you up to date on all
those. One receiver left one righthere for o claire North. As we
come out of the time out withone twenty two left in the first quarter,
(25:19):
seven and nothing, River falls leadsand once again it is Shipment at
quarterback. Need the forty two fora first down and he will fake the
give to Olson pressure coming rolling rightthrows, it's incomplete. There was no
chance for him to get anything downfield. Great pressure put on by Cody
Olsen along with Riley Usgard again andthat is fourth and five and o'claire North
(25:44):
forced to punt with one seventeen leftin the first quarter. And if you're
an Oaklaire North fan, this iskind of hard to see as this Oaklaire
North defense has really stepped up tostart off this game. Although allowing a
touchdown on their third drive, theystopped a Wildcat offense twice that is usually
pretty well known for being able torun just on any kind of rushing defense
(26:06):
that is not really up to snuff. However, this North offense really needs
to wake up and not wait untila second quarter to really get something going.
Huskies get the punt away, nota bad one. In fact,
it's gonna take the Wildcats back tothe twenty yard line before the return twenty
five near side thirty five and takingdown at the thirty eight yard line.
Is the returner and Andrew Robinson outand a good return there about eighteen yards.
(26:27):
And it's first and ten here forthe Wildcats with one o six left
to go in the first quarter, and it's River Falls leading seven to nothing.
And Aminson one of the top receiversfor the river Falls Wildcats here too,
seventeen receptions, two hundred and nineyards and two touchdowns. He might
not be seeing a lot of receivingyards tonight, or really many looks his
(26:48):
way if they keep running the balllike this, the wind whipping around,
the rain coming down, pelting thepress box here at Raymerfield. We're certainly
happy. It's the new breast box, not the old one back here at
Rammerfield back in the day, standnice and warm inside. And now the
Wildcats will try to turn up theheat a bit on the field. One
receiver right and the tailback again asSeverson is a give deceivers up to get
(27:11):
well wrapped up right at the lineforty maybe the forty one two yard gain
on the play and it was TaylorFrederick. Excuse me. It gets to
stop after a two yard gain, and that's exactly what Oakler North needs.
They need hits at the line. The first line of defense has to get
to Severs. Oh yeah, definitely, especially guys like Taylor Frederick who are
just lifeblood of the defense out there. Taylor Frederick sixty five total tackles on
(27:34):
the season, and it's just kindof the captain on that defense. We
always talk about the quarterback on thedefense being the middle linebacker, and Taylor
Frederick is that guy. And Ipitched to Severs some of a whistle coming
and this looks like it's a falsestart and this is going to back him
up five yards. Chaim mckeithri atour official is trying to talk into that
microphone, but it is not notdealing well with the elements. So twenty
(27:59):
nine, it's remaining left here inthe first quarter, it'll be second and
thirteen. Now back at the thirtyseven here for the Wildcats, they're gonna
wind the clock, so I believethey still will have to get a playoff,
though with twenty five seconds on theplay clock. And if they're able
to stop them here, this couldbe. This could bode well for them
going into the second quarter. AndI got second and long. Need a
big stop. One receiver right herefor range. Who's gonna go under center?
(28:25):
Tody Olsen, the tight end slashfullback in is as a fullback in
the I formation. Steeverson good runhere dives over a tackler at the forty
two up near the forty five yardline. That was shot who got in
on the stop? But not aftera big game to make it third and
five When we come back from thequarter break seven and nothing, Wildcats.
They have the lead and the ballthrough the five when we come back right

Falls, Wisconsin. Peking It andDan Zon's with the seven Nothing Wildcats River
(29:40):
Falls leading Oaklare North. As weget set for the second quarter, they
simple need to reset the game clockhere to twelve minutes, which it is
a video board here River Falls,so it's all digital and no old school
video scoreboard up there. So they'vegot to make sure the right people,
I guess are working that. Athird and five coming up when we finally
get twelve minutes on the clock. So it's exactly what you want here,
(30:03):
isn't it? Dan? On thenight where it's cold and rainy, you
want a delay in this way, don't you? Oh yeah? And you
know the players love these delays too, having to sit around instead of actually
being able to stay warm by runningaround on the field, just gotta love
it. But something else to notehere is these two teams are some of
the least are the least penalized inmost of the in the Big Rivers Conference
(30:25):
with four and three respectively. Andremember Falls tonight already has two penalties on
them. Yeah, they have backedthemselves up a few times. We'll see
if it hurts them here. Thirdand five, they need to get to
the about the fifty yard line fora first sound ball at the forty five
North almost Oh, they didn't jumpoff officials coming. Oh, no,
it's a false start. Look atthat. They cause a false start on
the hard count. Did the Wildcats? There is a third penalty already.
(30:49):
I didn't think North jumped off side. Of course, it's automatic when you
jump offside in high school. Andso when they threw the flag, I
thought they're calling on North, notthe case. Yeah, and that was
You gotta give credit to Brittey Jensenon that one, who really stuttered in
front of the I believe they calledit on the left tackle on the far
side of River Falls. But agreat job by this defense who they've done
(31:11):
this a few times. Where they'vegotten this, they've gotten offense is to
jump off side just by the waythat they're able to fake against that line.
One receiver out to the right.Third and nine, now from the
forty yard line, Severs sit upthe gut tripped up. He is short
by a long margin there. Heonly gets two maybe three again. I
think it was Frederick in on thestop for oak Claire North. So fourth
(31:32):
and about seven and now river Fallswill have to punt this one away.
And that's a great stop prea goodbuy this defense. And if you're Oaklaire
North, you need to capitalize onthis one. It's not a do or
die moment right here. However,if you want momentum to shift back to
your way, you need to scoreon this drive, especially when river Falls
has been able to give you somenice starts here. And I mean they
(31:55):
river Falls really shot themselves in thefoot on that last drive. I mean
two penalties backing them up bone bothsides. You need to be able to
capitalize on that. If you're thiso Claar North offense. Shot back to
return this punt, another shank offthe side of the foot that's gonna go
out of bounds least at the twentyyard line. I atually went out closer
to twenty five. Thirty officials aregonna mark this off because yeah, they're
(32:16):
still gonna mark Man. There's thewalk, nice and slow. Twenty five
yard line is where they'll mark it. So eleven to eleven left to go,
second quarter seven or nothing, Wildcatsand it's so claar North ball and
they got to get something started here, absolutely, And whether that's what,
whether that's with variation on the runs, because we've seen cam Olson get the
ball multiple multiple times this game already, and I mean he is a very
(32:38):
dangerous rusher. But River Falls isexpecting them to run it through cam Molson.
They know that if their defensive linecan beat that offensive line, they're
gonna take that every single time. There needs to be a little bit more
of a spread action with this goingforward, and they are gonna spread it
out, have Olsen in the backfieldand the shotgun here with Shipment, and
(32:59):
they'll see the then shift to theleft side and it is a keeper here
for Shipman trying to get around theright edge. He stiff arms a defender,
but he can't quite get away fromhim. And I believe that was
the quarterback Jacob Rains who makes thestop on him and spins him down.
No, pardon me, they're goingto say that that was Eli Johnson who
made the stop on him about atwo yard loss back to the twenty three
(33:20):
and I like the plates on.Someone missed on one of their someone missed
on one of their assignments and letEli Johnson run free, which is not
a guy you want to have runningfree against you. There he's a pretty
sure tackler, and what do youknow, he's made the tackle once more.
But I like the idea, though. You just need everyone to be
able to hit their assignments correctly.See River Falls showing blitz shotgun for shipping
(33:42):
two receivers right, one left. The man goes in motion right to left
and then another flag coming in.I think this is a false start here
on the Huskies, and sure enoughit is, and they'll back up five
yards. So second and seventh tonow coming up here for Oakler and Orc
with ten twenty eight left in thesecond quarter in the Wildcats leading set nothing
and you cannot shoot yourself in thefoot like this. This is now.
(34:05):
This is now another time that theybacked themselves up here. But just need
to get a little bit more consistencygoing on that ground game and a little
bit through the air too. You'rejust not gonna be able to win against
a wildcat, a stout wildcat defenselike this, who's allowed who's had seven
sacks on the year, if you'renot strong in the trenches there, So
(34:25):
second and seventeen two receivers left, one right for ship many hands off to
Olsen counters, so they're right, got a big hole. He's across the
twenty five, still on his feet, across the thirty and taken down near
the thirty three yard line. Hegot all of it back and then some
and this will bring up a thirtyvery manageable year about third and two from
their own thirty three yard line, and we were just waiting for this to
(34:46):
happen. Cam Wilson's almost he's thetype of guy that's gonna take the top
off the defense on this O ClaireNorth Huskies team, and we were just
kind of waiting for him to getthat breakout run. And there it was.
Now, let's see what they cando to kind of get this third
down conversion here, because you knowthis offense needs this going forward. Yeah,
the counterplay looking pretty good. Yousee Oaklaire North setting up for a
(35:08):
potential run. They're gonna call atime out here to talk about this it
looked like at least eight guys inthe box there for River Falls. They
were loading it up ready for arun to Olson, because that's been the
bread and butter, And why wouldn'tit be on a night like tonight.
I mean, you played plenty,Dan, I know you were aligneman.
You did other different types of thingsas well, But on a night like
tonight, you know a lot ofteams just say, okay, it's going
(35:30):
to be a running game, right, it's wet, it's windy, all
those kind of things. And surethat's the case, but I think sometimes
you can catch defenses a little bit, you know, off guard. We
saw Travian Johnson do it earlier, just you know, had the ball drop.
But tell you what I mean,if you hold on to the ball
and wet feel I mean, doesn'tnecessarily mean you could only need to run
here tonight. No, you don'thave to do. People don't seem to
(35:51):
understand the versatility of a passing offense. If you're able to get some screens
out there, especially to cam Olseninto maybe some quicker guys out there,
you're able to really stretch out anoffense and really get a spread type of
game going there screen passes, shortplace slants. Right now, it's only
been run, run, run,But if you're able to kind of work
in your very talented receivers out there, which we know they have, they
(36:14):
have multiple guys with almost two hundredyards seven to nothing. River Falls leads
again third and two here for OaklaireNorth botch snap, Shipman's gonna run right,
and he is taken down. Theydid not know the snapcount there to
the offensive line that he snapped theball to the center, and Shipman took
the ball and nobody moved other thanRiver Falls's defense. He gets taken down
(36:37):
for about a five yard loss backto the twenty nine ish yard line,
and uh, North gonna have topunt. And more than likely, the
times when the line and the restof that offense doesn't move usually means the
center got that wrong, and centerand or quarterback got that wrong. And
honestly, it might have been alittle mixture of both, because not a
(36:58):
single other person on that Husk offensemoved. Perkins to punt. He will
get this one away into the wind, takes a really good North bounce that
was touched and now they'll fall onit. Back of the thirty nine.
That is about as good as aresult I think on a punt as you
can get into that wind. Again, it's more of a crosswind, but
it is definitely blowing toward the rightend zone. The end zone two are
(37:19):
right here to the south end zonehere in River Falls, and that ends
up working out pretty well. Thirtynine yard line is where River Falls starts
off their own. Yeah, andespecially since that punt looked like it came
off the side of a punter's footthere. Yeah, it wasn't pretty.
No, it didn't get any kindof hang time in the air, and
it just kind of was a linedrive shot that bounced around the fifty and
then just kept going forward. Butluckily one of the returners tried to go
(37:40):
and grab it before it even bouncedto him and resulted in him touching it
and got him right to the thirtynine thirty two yards rushing for old since
night eighty one so far perceiverson.Do we have another flag? Yes we
do, and more illegal procedure herenow, welcome back in here to River
Falls. Apologies for the connection issues. Apparently some gremlins in the system while
(38:02):
you were gone. A blocked extrapoint coming up here as river falls,
goes downfield on a couple of bigSeaverson runs to get in for the score.
A massive run on the right side, back in their own territory,
Dan, I believe it was inthe range of about a fifty ish yard
run somewhere in there. Got tothe ten yard line, they gave it
(38:22):
to him back again, and hehad such a big hole on the right
side of that offense. He literally, I mean, he got to the
five yard line. It wasn't highstepping that he did, but he almost
kind of what did you call thata moonwalk, like a forward moonwalk into
the end zone. That was heknew he was in and he showed off
a little bit. Oh yeah,he literally stopped at the goal line and
(38:43):
just walked in. He literally walkedinto the end zone. And usually you
joke around and about players walk in. Usually it's like a slight job.
No, he actually walked into theend zone like that whole of that off
the whole that offensive line created onthat Oaklaire North defensive line was so big
a freight train could have just steamplowed right through and there still would have
(39:04):
been space left. If you're thisdefensive line, you cannot allow something like
that, especially of a good runnerlike Seversaid, who is one of the
leaders in the Big Rivers Conference inrushing yard. You just cannot allow that
to happen. They tell the Northcoaches too, are right, were pretty
upset about it as well. Theywere slamming their papers down the second they
saw that big of a hole. They thought, what in the world did
we just give up there? Sonow a thirteen nothing lead here for the
(39:28):
Wildcats over OA player North, andjust like that, River falls out to
a two touchdown Lee. This isa bobbled kickoff by Johnson back of the
ten. He's gonna try to makesomething out of it and misses a tackle
at the fifteen or about the twelve, I should say, but he didn't
get much more than that, maybethe fourteen yard line, now a little
bit extra. The officials got hishand in the pocket ready to throw a
(39:49):
flag after some late blocking by Riverfalls through a believe it was the kicker
there to the ground in Tommy Perkinsgot thrown over. But the official keeps
his flag in the pocket. Andit's going to be terrible field position here
for Oaklare North. On this drivedown thirteen and nothing was seven to fifty
five left in the second quarter.Yeah, and I will say they did
throw a flag on that Oak ClaireNorth coaching staff on the sideline, but
(40:13):
did not throw it for that.I don't want to say that was a
little unbiased, but hey, whatdo I know. I'm a broadcaster.
A couple of these officials you'll seeon Saturdays in the YAX, Chad mckeethrin
and Matt Goose, a couple ofguys in the deep parts of the seven
man crews that you have there. Here's a run on the end around.
I didn't want to run this playto Mason Novak apart me that Mason Novak
(40:34):
rather but Aaron Silberg around the edgeand can get some decent yardage out to
the twenty yard line. It's abouta six yard game on first down and
a second and much more manageable herefor Oaklare North. And you like seeing
the variation in this in the offensethere now running with Silberg, who's another
one of their skilled position players thatreally hasn't seen a lot of the ground
game in these last couple of games, but he can really fly when he
(40:57):
gets a little bit of a runningroom. So second and five here they
give him a five yard gain.Officially two receivers right, one left.
It is still Shipman I believe inat quarterback, and yeah, he will
run to the roll to the rightlooking for some room, throws out of
the backfield. It is caught andthat is actually Jents in the tight end.
But he got maybe back to theline of scrimmage maybe a yard.
(41:20):
A little bootleg roll out to theright had Jensen running that way, but
not a lot of separation with hisdefender, and it'll bring up third and
mid range here for North. No. But you like seeing that though,
if you're a North fan, becausethey're actually changing it up a little bit.
Instead of running and ground pounding thewhole rest of the way, they're
trying to keep they're trying to keepthis Wildcats team on their toes. They're
not really they're not ready to giveup just yet. And that's kind of
(41:43):
what Matt McGinnis would always say,is that he doesn't want to be the
old culture of the North, whichis like going down thirteen to nothing and
then just rolling over. They wantto show that they have fight left in
them. Six twenty seven left inthe second quarter, Wildcats thirteen oaklare North
Nothing North with a chance to getin the play that they can win here
tonight, here's a pass on aslant route. Johnson threw the hands again
(42:04):
at the thirty yard line and there'swhere that wet ball kind of comes in.
And I don't know, man,you know it's tough, right,
I mean, these new gloves thatwere receivers have, right, it's almost
like they're tacky almost to the ball. But on a night where it's wet,
you know, you just don't knowif those gloves are helping or hurting.
Maybe you want bear skin on it. It's just it's hard to know
what to do. And that's swicewe've seen Johnson have the ball slip right
(42:25):
through his hands. Yeah, andthat's the hard thing about throwing in a
rainy type of game like this. And even then that ball wasn't really put
on the spot. It kind ofcaught some of that wind on that,
Yeah, as they were throwing intothe wind. There just not a great
ball and just not a great catch. Kick away once again here for North
and this is muffed muff back atthe five and it could North fall on
(42:46):
it. They can't yet it's backtoward the thirty six yard line and that's
where it's fallen on by River Falls. And that was a golden opportunity for
Oaklaire North to get a turnover ona muffed punt and River Falls some wow,
luckily falls back on it officially theirown thirty four. It's a good
switch of field position. But man, that could have been a big game
(43:07):
changer here with six ozho five leftin the second. Yeah, especially since
we haven't really seen much life outof his offense since really the since really
the first drive honestly when they wereright back into the River Falls. Uh,
right when they were deep in RiverFalls territory. But even then,
have they even gone a first down? Yep, No they haven't. I
(43:28):
was just gonna say, it's allbeen three and outs. They had the
one drive that ended in a turnoveron downs their first drive where they went
four on four down. Other thanthat, it's been three and outs the
entire night. No first downs yethere for Oaklare North. That was that
a good pickup. I was justgoing that way. Is there's a handoff
to Severson again starting out at theirown thirty four, and he'll drag a
tackler across the forty to the fortyone yard line between the hashmarks and gets
(43:50):
seven yards on first down. AndSeverson, by my count, after that
last drive, he's up to nowone hundred and forty seven yards already here
on the ground. Yeah, andthat's that's that's what we were talking about
earlier. He is a very dangerousrunner, and this defense is not very
great against the run, so theyhad to make sure to actually be able
to practice against a player like Severson. But there's not really anyone like that
(44:14):
on this team. He's gonna getdragged down for a loss this time.
What a tackle in the backfield.Beautiful job there by Bryce Heinbuck to get
into the backfield and pull down Seversonfor a loss back at the thirty nine
yard line. They're gonna market inthe forties, so it's called a loss
of one. And now it's thirddown and a chance to turn river falls
right back over. And you loveto see the intensity still out there on
(44:36):
that defensive line and defense in general. They are not giving up on this.
Even though the offense can't really getmuch going. They don't want to
be the ones to fall over. They want to keep going they want a
playoff spot I formation again the pitchghost of Severson right side's got a hold
of the forty five. He's gotmore across the fifty. He's in the
plus territory, across the thirty fiveof Oak Blaier north of the forty three
(44:57):
yard line, and that is amassive run. Seventeen yard run. They're
on thirty five and just like that, it's first down. River Falls.
Yeah. Just a great job bythe offensive line of the River Falls to
really create some big gaps for Severson. So far this game, there's only
been a few times where the offensiveline has really failed to get to their
position. They've been almost on pointfor all this night. Four point thirty
(45:21):
left to play here in the secondquarter, it's River Falls thirteen nothing for
Oaklare North and again a little patientrunning and it ends up hurting Severson this
time is shooting the gap to makethe stop as Taylor Frederick for a loss
of two on the play back tothe forty six yard line. It's a
really nice job they're shooting the gapand making that tappen. And Taylor Frederick
usually plays on that right side, sometimes he plays in the middle. You
(45:44):
never really see him on the leftside. But you can tell that this
River Falls offense is trying to runas far away from Taylor Frederick as they
possibly can, as the last fewtimes that Severson's really broke off on a
run was on that right side.Thirteen to nothing, River Falls ball at
the north for five yard line, second and twelve, hand off to Severson
up the gun again, patient running, still pushing the pile to the forties,
(46:06):
still on his feet down to thethirty six. He would not go
down on that play. Eventually takendown by Jensen as well as Noah Penneger,
who is there. And it'll bethird and much more manageable now at
the north thirty six yard line.Appreciable and if you're north, you really
need to get a stop here. You cannot let this River Falls team drive
almost a full length of the field, well not really full length of the
(46:30):
field, but a pretty good distanceand get a touchdown off the Steverson again
right side tripped up, but he'sgot the first down across the thirty five
and up near the thirty two yardline. Super bowlment. I thought he
might be a little injured there,he's late getting up, but he's just
helped up fine four yard game. The first down river falls. Yeah,
and the coaches next to us arenot loving that. They do not like
(46:51):
these long, prolonged drives because itnot only does it weaken the defense,
because now you have a fatigued defense, and a lot of these players on
the North team play both sides.See Severson kind of limping off as he
comes to the sideline here, tryingto shake out something looks like in his
right ankle, right shoe that heis not looking particularly comfortable as he's gonna
(47:12):
sit on the trainer's table. Sono, Severson, They'll take the handoff,
want to go deep over the middle. It is up and it is
bat it in complete. There isa flag on the play. They went
for Eli Johnson to make six footsix tight end who was wide open,
but the ball underthrown. A nicejob recovering there by maddic skirts to break
it up. However, what wasthe penalty first and ten from the thirty
(47:36):
three yard line. It should besecond and ten barring this penalty. Or
was it just a towel. Ithink it was a towel that fell off.
They've got those pink towels out there, and I thought for a moment
they were backing them up, damn. But it was just somebody's towel fell
off, never mind no flag.Yeah, and I think that's what o'claire
North was looking at too, becausethey were looking down and they were just
trying to figure out what happened outthere. But all in all, a
great coverage. Now, great coverageto start off on Eli Johnson, but
(48:00):
man, a great job by thesecondary to catch up at the end and
knock the ball away. Dude. It's a cool thing to do, the
breast cancer awareness thing, but whenyour towels are pink and the flags are
pink, yeah, probably not agood deal there. We could have at
least got some kind of contrast there, all right. Now, a pitch
right side of the backup running backin Charlie Losh and he will get across
the thirty be tripped up near thetwenty five yard line by the time Johnson
(48:23):
takes him down, and it'll beabout third and three here coming up at
the twenty five yard line for RiverFalls. Steverson is back out there though
whenever he had happened, he's gottenit worked out and he's back on the
field. That's what you gotta loveabout that guy. He's a bit of
a competitor, but just great tosee him back out on the field,
not in and hopefully injury free.So it is Severson back is the tailback
(48:49):
the I formation. It's a bigset that they like to run third and
three. They need to get intothe twenty three yard line. Steverson with
the carry, he's hitting the backfieldand stop for a loss. What a
tackle into the backfield by Tyler Frederickand it'll be a loss of a couple
back near the twenty nine yard line. And with now under two minutes left
to player in the second quarter,River Falls has a little bit of a
decision, leading thirteen to nothing. And that's what I love about Taylor Frederick.
(49:13):
Like I said, he's the lifebloodof this defense. He's the one
guy that's gonna go out there andmake a play for you. Just like
that, he goes out there, makes a clutch play. He does not
want his season to end early. He wants to keep going. He wants
to keep playing and man that youjust love to see that intensity. I
think River Falls is waiting to takea time out here until the back judge
starts his count. So it'd beabout the one oh nineteen mark somewhere in
(49:36):
there where this clock's gonna stop,So take a time out. One twenty
officially is what they'll market at thirteenand nothing. Wildcats, they've got a
fourth and about six coming up hereto try to convert the ball at the
twenty eight. They need to getto about the twenty three twenty two yard
line in that area for a firstdown, So they're gonna talk it over.
(49:57):
Pikaouts and dan Zon's with you here. First half between Oaklare North and
River Falls, it's been again mainlythe Jonas Severson Show. By my account,
he's at one hundred and seventy oneyards of rushing here tonight. This
is a team that averages does RiverFalls two hundred and twenty nine yards rushing
in a game, so he's alreadynear that mark here tonight. With the
(50:20):
runs that he's at here tonight,Danny's over the fifteen hundred yard mark for
a season. I mean, youget over a thousand yard rushing in a
season, that's a heck of aseason. But at fifteen hundred plus,
I mean that is unbelievable numbers. And I mean this has got the kind
of You know, this is arecord book season type of thing here for
the Wildcats. Oh yeah, definitely. And you we almost have to be
on watch for maybe a potential recordbreaking game tonight. Here already one hundred
(50:45):
and seventy yards close to could beending with two hundred yards in this half.
He's already broken a record before.Let's see if he could potentially do
it again. Yeah, Severson inthe tail end of the I formation,
fourth and sixth, they're gonna gofor it. At least it looks like
here Jacob Range under center, he'llpitch it to Seeverson. They've got the
reverse set up, and it's fumble. He went down to a knee that's
down right there at the thirty fiveyard line, and the play goes awry
(51:07):
as the ball continues to be slipperyout there. Andrew Dominson was the guy
who was pitched to by Severson, and Dominson could not handle the pitch right
between the hash marks, and it'sturned over at the thirty four yard line
to Oaklare North. They met Itell you what, for as good as
River Falls has been, Dan,they've given Oaklare North a lot of opportunities.
(51:27):
They just haven't taken advantage of themyet. No, they really need
their offense to start waking up herein this second, in this second quarter,
especially with one twelve left to go, this is a prime opportunity to
use that two minute offense and getdown the field. We've seen them get
down the field and two minute opportunitiesbefore and be able to convert and score
on them. This is gonna beone of those times, and especially against
(51:49):
a River Falls team that has givenme so many opportunities such as this one.
With a botched punt and a fumbleto start off the game too.
Only one time out left here forOakla North, but they start at their
own thirty four yard line with onetwelve left to go here in this quarter.
It's a handoff to Olson and nota lot. They run the left
side and he gets the thirty sixmaybe here on that carry and it'll be
(52:12):
second and eight. And again they'renot big hurry here to run too much,
as we took under a minute leftto go. No, they are
not, and they really should be, as there's only fifty seconds left on
the clock. You'd expect them tomaybe pass a little bit more here,
even with a wet ground there's notreally much you can do on the ground.
I mean, at some point theyare gonna get the ball here to
start the second half. Shipman gonnarun and he gets a block near side
(52:35):
of the forty to the forty five, cuts it back up. Should have
got out of bounds now he does, and he's close to the first down.
He should have it at about theforty seven yard line. That's where
they'll mark him a nine yard gainon the carry for Shipman, they'll move
the chains thirty four seconds left.He got out of bounds, so they'll
keep the clock stop. And that'sa smart move by Shipman. I know
he's had a few inexperienced times thathas hurt him a couple of times,
(52:57):
like specifically not really paying attention tothe play clock. However, smart job
to understand where he is in thesecond quarter and to go and seek out
that out of bounds line to keepthe clock stop. They only have they
only have one time out left inthis half, so they're gonna really need
to keep going on those outside routes. Three four seconds remain thirteen to nothing.
(53:17):
The wildcast with the lead here inthis first half, Shipment steps up,
gonna run left side, he can'tget away from the pressure and he's
thrown down at the forty three yardline by one of the defensive line and
Lincoln McCarty. Time out taken here, bio Claire North to save some time.
Twenty five seconds remain here in thefirst half, and with that loss,
(53:37):
that will put him back three yardsofficially to the forty four yard line
on the very zact dan every timethere's one four and it's two steps back
basically, and that's been the issue, Claire North. I mean, they're
not kicking any field goal here. With the wind into them, they're not
gonna be able to get anything nearfield goal range. So they got to
(53:57):
get the end zone. They gottafigure out how to do it in thirty
seconds are so? And this thisis go time. There's no time like
the presider as they say, Yeah, absolutely not. And this offensive line
really needs to get into their blockingsequences a lot better. That sack really
shouldn't have happened if if that lefttackle would have been able to kind of
get out of his set a littlebit quicker, because he beat him immediately,
(54:20):
did McCarty. And you just needto be able to block better.
So Shipman has enough time to reallyget a good pass off here. This
is exactly what you need from anoffensive line like this, and I understand
it's hard against a tough defensive linelike River Falls has, but you've blocked
better before. So it was thelast time out. Taking my north of
the half. They have none leftthirteen nothing Wildcats twenty five seconds remain.
(54:42):
The ball is at their own fortyfive yard line. Second and thirteen Chippin'
ass two receivers left too, right, handoff goes to Olson and again it
just seems like they're kind of wavingthe white flag a little bit while River
Falls taking time out. I don'tthink they will. That's likely going to
do it here. That'll be theend of the half, and that is
how this half will end, sowell, not exactly the most convincing a
(55:02):
half, so especially from the offensivestandpoint there. Oa Claire North has not
been able to move the ball muchhere tonight, Dan, they're gonna get
the ball to start the second half, So no worries there. I mean,
it's only a thirteen nothing game ona night bikes to night though.
The elements the way they are thirteenpoints, the way we're watching this game.
I mean it feels like it's almosta four or five touchdown lead the
(55:23):
way it is, with just howhard it is to move the ball for
either one of a low. Yeah, we've seen mistakes on both sides of
the ball, a lot on RiverFalls' side though. That's really set up
Oa Claire North with some pretty greatopportunities to go down the field and score.
But we just really haven't seen enoughfrom this offense to get anything going
nothing consistently. I mean you haven'teven We've only seen one first down and
(55:45):
that just happened. Yeah, justhappened. One first down for Oaklaire North.
A lot of three and outs tonight, So we'll see if they can
maybe figure something out in the halftimelocker room. They will receive the ball
to start the second half. Thirteenenoughing River Falls with the lead on Oak
Claire North, we will check somescores. We'll get them to you here
at halftime, all part of ourhalftime show. That's all coming up in
(56:07):
just a bit, but we'll beback after this extended break as we send
it to break here on Classic Rockninety two to one. The halftime show
with Pete Canuts in his next. This is Oclaire High School football on Classic
Rock ninety two one. Hey,welcome back in once again to Raverdfield here
on the campus of the University ofWisconsin River Falls. It's the River Falls
(56:30):
Wildcats thirteen the Oaclaire North Huskies zeroat halftime here on Classic Rock ninety two
one FM, wm Q, Menomine, o'claire, Chipwa Falls and Rock nine
two one dot com and iHeartRadio getPeak Nuts and Dan z On's with you,
Sean Soakkaback in studio. Well,Dan, we can talk a little
bit about this game here as well. Let'll tell you what when I give
(56:51):
you a few scores first, andI want to get your thoughts on this
because few scores here at halftime,Chipway leading Superior seven to six. Mondovie
was up thirty to six at lastcheck there on Fall Creek, Menomine leading
twenty eight to nothing on Oaklaire Memorial, and Hudson is leading New Richmond in
what we thought might even be thebest game in the whole state of Wisconsin
(57:13):
coming into tonight. Twenty nine andnothing at halftime. That is wow.
We've seen New Richmond twice, youknow, play Memorial in North and I
thought, you know, I thoughtHudson was good, but I thought New
Richmond might have a slight edge orat home tonight as well. Hudson leading
twenty nine to nothing. That isa wild score. Yeah, very very
(57:34):
wild score considering how great New Richmondhas been just all They've been an all
around team just all of this season, and they've been able to put together
games and put together games against likereally good teams. But like I believe
they played regis correct. I'm like, very they did not do they did
not? Okay, no, no, no, I was gonna say,
(57:57):
because Hudson lost two, I believeNew Richmond. Yeah, yeah, they
well they've lost one earlier this year, I believe a non conference game.
Again, this is basically two undefeatedteams in conference. And again it was
Hudson who's leading twenty nine and nothingat halftime. So and again that's on
the road. I know it's nota very long trip between those two,
but still New Richmond I think thoughtthat they had a good upper hand there
(58:19):
and so we'll have to see ifthey can make any kind of comeback in
the second half as well. That'swhat Oa Claire North's hoping for here tonight
thirteen to nothing with the lead, and we will see how it goes.
But what are your keys here tothis second half? Dan, It's gonna
be a lot more variation amongst thisoffense. There's just not a lot going
on. They can't they haven't beenable to really get anything going. They
(58:40):
got cam Olson started a little bittowards the end of that second quarter,
but really not really much to goon off of that. They had something,
they had a little bit going withthem. They had a little bit
of drive starts and didn't really endit well in that second quarter. They
were given a lot of opportunities bythis river Falls defense or offense to really
(59:01):
get something going on a drive, but they haven't been able to capitalize when
River Falls is given them a chanceto go up, go down the field
and score, especially when they've gottensome pretty great uh some pretty great starting
field position here. Yeah, alot of really great, like you said,
great chances for Oaklaire North, Andas we mentioned, they only got
the one first down right near theend of the half. So it's been
(59:22):
some struggles for North and moving theball. But they're gonna be into the
wind here in this third quarter. But I mean, at some point you
got to do so. It's onlya thirteen to nothing game, I know
it. You know, for usit feels like it's more just because of
the conditions and everything else. Butit's it's only two scores, which isn't
the end of the world. Certainlyhere for Oa Claire North, a squib
(59:43):
kick here to the near side andthat one will be scooped up at the
fifteen yard line by Shop. Shopwill take it to the far side now
and gets hit hard across the twentyfive and he'll fall up near the thirty
yard line. It's first down OaklaireNorth. Let's hope that everybody's all right.
That was a wicked hit there. We could slip there for Sham and
shot rather and he's down there apartme, that was Gertz Rather on that
(01:00:06):
return. So Gertz with that returngetting it up to the officially, and
that is where Oakland North will startthe second half. Yeah, and they're
gonna really need to get some spreadoptions kind of going, and they really
did when they spread out that offenseinstead of just lining it up and giving
it to cam Olson right up themiddle or bounce off the outside, they
really had some stuff going, especiallywith Shipman on going around the edge and
(01:00:30):
really making something happen. It wasone of those deep pass plays two to
Johnson if he can hold on toone of those. There's Shipman keeping out
on a red option trying to getaround the right edge and hit a defender
at about the line of scrimmage andfall forward for maybe a yard. A
good job there on on the edgecontaining for river Falls. That was Preston
Johnson was there well about one maybetwo yards on the place second and eight,
(01:00:53):
and Preston Johnson is just one ofthose great corners out there for this
River Falls team has all three interceptionsfor this River Falls defense on the season.
He is just a force to bereckoned with on that outside edge two
yards second and eight. Now fromthe thirty year for o' claire North,
there's a whistle for a moment,there was a stoppage, but it's just
(01:01:13):
o'claire North looking at the sideline topick up the play. You gotta get
this play in here relatively quickly.Thirteen to nothing, Wildcats with the lead.
Now they're blowing the whistle. They'renot sure what the stoppage was for,
but regardless. Second and eight, you need to get to the thirty
eight yard line for a first down. Man in motion across the formation,
they'll fake the end around. AndShipman then tried to throw it over the
(01:01:35):
middle and it got batted away rightat the line. He was trying to
go to Carter Burns, I believe, and it just got batted at the
line. So third and eight nowhere for Oaklaire North from their own thirty
Yeah, now's cal Dumont number six, the linebacker six foot two eighty five
and use that big frame of histo hop up and just knock that ball
down before it even had a chanceto sail through the air. Great job
recognizing that play immediately off that outsideedge and the off line then out there
(01:02:00):
needs to really block down and notallow these big linebackers to hop up and
make plays like that. Thir inan eight from their own thirty yard line.
One receiver right one lefts here forShipman again on the far hash mark
right to left into the wind backto pass looks right. He's got a
decent pocket. Now he's gonna rollleft. He's gonna be tough to get
this one away. He'll try tothrow this one back to the line of
(01:02:22):
scrimmage. I think he got ridof it too, so he saves himself
a good number of yards there wouldhave been a sack. Why didn't they
throw the flag. Why in theworld is that a flag. That is
not a flag. That he isout of the pocket and he got the
ball back to the line of scrimmage, that's not a flag. That's a
terrible call. Intentional grounding is thecall, and that is one of the
(01:02:47):
worst calls I think I've ever seen. Dan, that's not intentional grounding.
I mean, Chad mckeinthrine's a goodofficial too, he should know the rule
and he doesn't. I mean,that is blatantly I mean, I don't
even know what to say about that. Dan. That might be one of
the worst calls I think I've everseen in my life on a football field,
(01:03:07):
especially because even in here's the thing, this is high school football.
They're a lot more relaxed on theseintentional grounding calls too. It's not about
where the ball goes out of bounds, it's where the ball lands. The
ball can land, you know, thirty yards out of bounds, but as
long as the ball got back tothe line of scrimmage, which it did
with where it fell, that's notintentional grounding. So this is now fourth
(01:03:27):
and what twenty two somewhere in thereback at the fifteen yard line where they
marked him. So now North gota punt into the wind. This is
going to be terrible. I mean, really good field position for river Falls
and that is I mean, that'segregious. And if I'm Matt McGinnis,
I'm sending that into the head ofofficials whoever it is, and say,
(01:03:49):
what in the world just happened onthat play, because that is not intentional
grounding. No, and especially it'susually in the NFL where you see a
lot of intentional grounding plays, andusually it doesn't matter if they get back
to the The thing is in theNFL you have to get it to a
player that's close to the play. However, in high school, you're getting
it back to the line of scrimmage, which they did end up doing,
(01:04:09):
and even then there was still therewas still I believe, a running back
kind of near the vicinity. Butit doesn't matter at the end of the
day because that just really killed thedrive there. So river Falls takes over
at the North forty yard line, which is where the punt got to.
The pitch goes to Severson right side. He'll get past the line of scrimmage
with not much more. It's agood stand for North. I mean,
if they get a stop here,no Peniger on the tackle again. I
(01:04:33):
mean, you're thinking how much ofa change of field position, especially when
you're going into the win. You'redown thirteen this early third quarter. That
just doesn't make a whole lot ofsense. But now I guess you just
got to You gotta play against allthe things that the adversity, if you
want to call it that, whateveryou whatever term you want to use,
because it's second and eight and maybethis could light a fire and in their
(01:04:53):
bellies of the offense and really getsomething going. We need some more hard
hits from that offense going on.So hand off to Severson up the gut
again. He'll trip up near thethirty five yard lines. After about a
two yard gain on first down,he gets about three this time Frederick on
the stop. See where they markhim now they're working at the thirty six
yard line, so only a twoyard gain. So two two yard gains
(01:05:15):
here for Severson. He had agreat first half. There's no doubt about
that. He had one hundred andsixty seven yards by Mike count in that
first half, and now at oneseventy one, and you're now seeing the
defense kind of focusing on Steverson, not wanting to allow him to get any
kind of action out here as hehas been that main source of offense for
this River Falls offense. I formationagain, Range goes under center, a
(01:05:39):
little bit of a hard count. Now he's going to audible here at the
line, ten seconds left in theplay clock, pitch to Severson running rights,
got some blocks to the thirty downthe sideline twenty five to twenty and
he's pushed out of mounds by NoahPenegert. Yeah, a little bit of
extra trash shock in between him andSeverson as he got up. They'll mark
him out at the fifteen yard line. And the student section is not wrong
(01:06:00):
there that they have had a hardtime stopping him here tonight. And yeah,
you can say that again, he'sbeen just kind of all over the
field really being able to get forthe most part, really getting whatever he's
wanted on the ground there. There'sjust been no real counter to his offensive
prowess out there. I mean, even when it seems like they kind of
have him backed up. He's justbeen able to break off these seventeen yard
(01:06:23):
runs that just amount for huge gains. Hand off to Severson up the gut,
to the ten, he's to thefive, he breaks the tackle,
and he's into the end zone.A fifteen yard touchdown run for Jonas Severson
is third of the nine. He'sup to twenty three on the season,
the leader in the state of Wisconsincoming into that. I had twenty six
(01:06:44):
or a couple guys tied at thatnumber, and now he's at twenty three.
So he's among these state leaders intouchdown rushes on the season. And
there it is nineteen and nothing Wildcats, and you're starting to see why he's
one of those He's one of thoseleaders out there in the state for touchdowns
because he just makes it look soeasy. I mean, half the time,
it looks like he's running at halfspeed and he's still able to outrun
(01:07:06):
the fastest guy on the field. They're gonna go for two here, Severson
runs left. Did he get in? Yes he did, and that extra
point will not matter now. Soit's twenty one nothing Wildcats, nine twenty
left to go. Third quarter. They're back after this right here on Classic
Rock ninety two to one. Thisis so clear high school football on Classic

Seven cantu, Come on company.Your home for the Huskies is Classic
Rock nineties. Who one now welcomeback in once again here to Ramer Field
in River Falls, and it isall wildcats here tonight. They lead twenty
one to nothing over Oaklaire North.A fifteen yard touchdown run from Jonas Severson
(01:08:18):
puts him over the two hundred yardmark in this game. I believe by
my account he's up to two oseven with three touchdowns on the night.
One to night for him here tonight, Dan Yeah and I think I believe
his best game so far this seasonwas the one where he ran for two
hundred and thirty six yards. Obviouslytrying to break that this game, as
he has been running like a madmanout there. Absolutely Gertz with the kick
(01:08:43):
return and again went nearside farside wasgoing east to west and send of northa
south and he's taken down back insidethe twenty at the fifteen yard line and
again sixteen is where their official mark. And again just nothing going to Oaklaire
North away right now, and it'sstarting to look a little bit academic here
with nine thirteen left in the thirdquarter. Wildcats tony one, Oaklaire North.
(01:09:04):
Nothing. It's got to happen. It's it's now or never, I
really is. I mean, ifthey want any chance to get in back
into this game and have a chanceto getting the playoffs with a win tonight,
it's got to happen now, absolutely, And this is this is their
real big chance. This is wherethey tighten up as a team and really
motivate themselves to go out there withthe fiery passion and leave it out there
(01:09:25):
on the field. We really haven'tseen that so far from this offense.
Though, well, you got mewanting to leave it out in the field
after that, that's for sure,is shipping back to pass throws. This
one over the middle toward Johnson incomplete. There was pressure on Shipman and Johnson
kind of had his route undercut there. Good job in the deflection of by
Anthony McPherson and it's incomplete. Secondand ten, and you can tell now
(01:09:46):
that they're throwing the ball that Ithink the Matt McGinnis is saying, Hey,
we might as well pull out allthe stops at this point. There's
no reason to keep anything in theback pocket here in Week nine, especially
since they've had a few games, they've had a few of those throws that
look like it could be caught forsome good yards. I mean the TJ.
Johnson drop obviously in that first thatreally set the tone for a lot
of these UH plays. But they'vehad a few chances out there. Two
(01:10:11):
to the right, one to theleft on the receivers handoff goes to Olsen
up to gut and he'll get somedecent yardage here to the twenty maybe the
twenty one yard line. Nice littlea little cut in the middle air and
the offensive line and he gets aboutfive to make it third and five here
for Oaklare North and just a greatjob there by Olsen. Even though the
play was breaking down, he wasstill able to kind of dance around and
(01:10:34):
find a little bit of space togain a little bit more yards than he
would have had he just stopped immediately. He's still he's got a great sense
about him to be able to dancein between tackles and find his way for
some extra yardage. Third and fivefrom the twenty one shipment back to pass.
There comes a rusher over the middleof a nice catcher by Jensen,
and he'll move to the twenty five. He's very close to the first down.
(01:10:56):
Officials are coming in I think sayingthat this is fourth down. He
got hit pretty hard as well, comes up limping as he was hitting on
the play by Riley Utgard and willbe fourth and one now from around the
twenty five yard line. One.Yeah, and Johnson's had that lingering leg
injury for a lot of the season. I remember he's had a few hits
that has let him limping a bit. And you know, for this offense,
(01:11:18):
you need to go for this rightnow. This is kind of do
or die on your own twenty five. But again you're right, do or
die. I'm sure Olsen is likelygoing to get the carry here. They're
going to go under center with Shipman, interestingly enough, and they fumble the
ball fumbled back by Olsen goes scoopsit up at the twenties tackled. The
snap was fumbled, not Olsen's fault. He gets a big loss on the
play back to the eighteen river field'ssake. So we're seven forty six left
(01:11:41):
to go third quarter, twenty oneto nothing. Wow, that's unfortunately,
when you're down to one play likethat, to try to convert it,
fumbling on a wet night like tonightis oftentimes the result. Well, at
least we get to see some moreJonas Stevenson out there, receiverson out there,
excuse me, who's been running quiteeffectively against this so Claire North defense.
(01:12:02):
But maybe this o'clare North defense stillhas a little bit of fight in
them. I mean, it's twentyone to nothing right now. If you
get a solid stop here before thefourth quarter is the start, you still
have a chance of coming back intothis game. As a flag is thrown,
yeah, I think they had toomany men in the formation there River
Falls, So another little mistake here, a mental mistake, and it was
(01:12:24):
a flag. It wasn't a towelfrom one of the River Falls players.
Here on again cancer awareness side.Everybody doing pink pink towels, pink flags,
and enough to confuse the broadcast,at least the old broadcaster with the
bad eyes. Twenty one to nothingWildcats for a party seven to forty six
up to play here in the third. I mean, the thing is,
they look quite literally the same outthere on the field, and that's why
(01:12:46):
I think they tripped up the OhClaire North team a couple of times as
well. Yeah, I think aflag's been thrown and then you stop and
all of a sudden somebody's in fora touchdown. It was somebody's towel back
here at the twenty five yard partytwenty four yard line. They'll hand it
off to see Everson. He shitat the line and not much more to
receive some good penetration there from abelief Heinbuck who got to him first,
and that's it's about a wash.Really didn't get much there at the twenty
(01:13:12):
five yard line. So it issecond and fifteen, no but you still
like to see that from your defensiveline out there on the field. I
mean, a wash is good whenyou're against such a great running back out
there. But he's been quite effectiveand you just need to keep countering him
with enough pressure out there on thatdefensive line and especially from the linebackers.
I mean, we've seen Taylor Frederickfly around the field tonight, make some
(01:13:34):
great stops. Send one receiver right, the ball in the near hash mark
left to right. They go secondand fifteen after the penalty, rolling out
passes caught down field. Well donethere by Cody Olsen. The tight end
goes to the sideline. He's goingto get close to the coast down marker
looks like he stepped out at aboutthe twelve yard line on the play.
So a twelve yard gain on thepass to Cody Olsen the tight end by
(01:13:58):
Jacob Range his second attempt by mycount here, and he finally completes one,
this one for twelve and it's thirdand short. Yeah, I mean,
they've only really had to pass twiceso far. They didn't even really
need to pass on that one either. It's third and short. But I
mean I think they were trying tocatch them off guard and try to put
this game away as quick as theycan. Six fifty seven left to go.
Third quarter, Wildcats twenty one OaklaireNorth nothing and in the red zone
(01:14:21):
and now and no they're flagging anthey're whistle and what do we have here
legal procedure? I believe that isthe case. Somebody moved on the inside
of that line, and so they'llback them up five yards. So instead
of third and about what two orso, it's gonna be third and eight
here for River falls back to thereabout eighteen yard line about there, and
(01:14:45):
I, after a little bit ofmore research, I was a little bit
wrong about saying Jonah Severson's best gamewas when he rushed for two and thirty
six yards. That was just oneof his other two hundred yard games.
His best game came against Memorial whenthey barely beat them twenty eight to twenty
seven year on September fifteenth, wherehe rushed for three hundred and thirty one
at yards. Yeah, Memorial, one of the games they really hung in
(01:15:05):
this year. Once again, thirdand eight here from the eighteen yard line,
He's going to roll out here hisreins looking down field, pops it
over the top, caught at thefive and into the end zone. River
Falls scores Eli Johnson, big tightend with the reception and the touchdown and
an eighteen yard gain, and it'sa twenty seven or zhing lead here for
(01:15:29):
the Wildcats. And we talked aboutthe luxury of having a guy like Eli
Johnson on your offense. They're abig, big bodied receiver able to kind
of make a make jump plays inthe end zone. Didn't really need to
jump for that one. Was justkind of a wide open pass there for
Johnson along that right left side.So Johnson scores. They're going to go
swinging gate formation here are river Fallsor do we have a whistle of some
(01:15:53):
kind for some reason? Not surewhat the issue is. The clock is
running, I believe is the issuethere. Trying to stop the clock.
They're telling him to stop the clock, and apparently somebody doesn't know exactly what
to do now. I imagine,I imagine they're gonna have to add some
time back on here, and sosomebody just to sleep with the switch up
here at six forty nine is whatthey've put on it? Is that what
(01:16:15):
they wanted? Apparently not? Well, this is fun. Twenty seven podcasts.
Yeah, now they're talking to thereferees back. They're trying to rile,
trying to bring everything back together asthey so. The extra point coming
here for the Wildcats twenty seven tonothing. They lead it and the kick
(01:16:39):
is up and the kick is goodand with six point nine lapt Wildcats lead
twenty eight to nothing. You're forOa Claire North back after this. Like

(01:17:45):
on down slash trumble round from o'claireNorth on a fourth and one that they
had on their last drive. Andas Dan you mentioned earlier, only one
first sound for oak Clare North tonight. That's the story. They have just
not been able to move the ball. Because this is a short kickoff,
it'll be taken by Gert said aboutthe twenty three yard line, makes a
couple moves across the thirty and getsto the thirty five yard line and decent
(01:18:05):
field position here for Oak Claire andOrthro six forty three left to go in
the third And while like, Ilike to stay positive on a lot of
this stuff, and that's good, yeah, and it's they aren't completely out
of it yet. I mean, one score and you're kind of getting yourself
back into this game. I mean, right now, you're down twenty eight
nothing. What you really needed,as I've stated before and before again,
(01:18:30):
and I'm gonna keep going until itkind of gets like that. They needed
some more offensive consistency and they justreally haven't gotten that at all this game.
Just not really able to get intotheir sets. River Falls doing a
great job of countering them no matterwhere they go. It just seems like
River Falls has their number every singletime. Kind of a bend, don't
break type of defense. And eventhen they're able to kind of break through
(01:18:53):
the line of oa. Claire Nortonmake some big stops. We're gonna pass
it out in near side and gettingacross the thirty five, across the forty
the forty two yard line, alittle pop pass, little receiver screen onto
the edge and that's Carter burn whomakes the catch and get some pretty good
yardage to the forty one. That'sa six yard game, maybe a seven
yard game when they finally mark thisoff. In fact, the seven yard
(01:19:14):
game is the case, and it'ssecond and three. That's a nice little
play. Haven't really seen that formationfrom the Huskies, no, And I
think they're just trying everything everything nowthat they're kind of realizing their back is
pressed up against the wall here againstthis River Falls team, And I mean
that's exactly what you want to see, is they're trying new things. They're
trying to catch this wildcat defense offguard, which they haven't really been able
(01:19:35):
to do much of. And againyou hope it's not too little, too
late, because if they get asuccessful drive, you're gonna go Whiden.
They do this before fake the handoffhere to Olsen and running with it on
the read option is Shipman and hegets hit at the line, maybe a
yard to the forty three yard line. And now third and two coming up
here for North and Shipman again, just not enough space to make a move.
(01:19:59):
He's trying to get, you know, that positive yardage, but River
Falls is just into the backfield waytoo quickly. Yeah, their defensive line
has been absolutely great so far thisgame. They've been really making stopped when
it's counted and especially just filling upgas before they can even really open up
for Shipman and Olsen, as wellas the linebacking trio for this River Falls
team has been able to really hitany kind of gas left wide open and
(01:20:21):
just stop any kind of offensive mobility. You're going to give it on an
end around here. They're going totry to get the first round with Solberg
and he cuts it up nicely andhas it only the second first down of
this game. He gets to theforty eight yard line of five yard game
on the play and a nice jobthere by Solberg. I believe that'll go
down officially as a pass because hepitched it in front of him, but
nonetheless Soldburg picks it up. AndSolberg's been pretty He hasn't really gotten much
(01:20:45):
of a chance to get this game, but he is the type of guy
that's able to really turn it upfieldand really turn on the Jets whenever he
really has a chance to move inspace and expect them more to get expect
them to get a little bit morenow that he's kind of being that hot
hand for them. They've got somespeed, you know, on the edges,
that's for sure. As they againgo with the quick pop pass right
side, but this is wrapped upimmediately out on the edge there as they
(01:21:10):
get that one to burns job onthe tackle on the edge. Let see
who got the tackle there for Riverfalls. McPherson was there and calous guard
was out there to make the stop, but no gain second intent and that
was a great job by Anthony McPhersonnumber twenty four on that one five nine,
one seventy five and can absolutely flylike a bat. He is just
(01:21:30):
absolutely crazy. Does watch out there? He has some great recognition and was
able to slow up that play beforeit even really got started. Second and
ten from their own forty eight downtwenty eight to nothing to River Falls is
Oa Claire North. They fake thepitch now back to pass. Shipman looks
right, pumps nothing there. He'schased down from behind, tripped up.
He got some positive yards. Hegot a one maybe two on that scramble.
(01:21:50):
Looked like he was wrapped up forthe sack, but he got a
yard and getting into the backfield therewas Eli Johnson, I believe, and
Johnson should have had the sack missedhim. He gets to the yard.
Third and nine, Yeah, thatwas a great job by Eli Johnson.
But Shipman really showing his speed toget around the corner there and turn nothing
into something. I mean, itreally wasn't something, but he escaped from
(01:22:14):
something that would have been a lotworse had he had been brought down in
that backfield. It's probably about afour or five yard differential there. Third
three point fifty seven rather left toplay here in the third quarter of the
River Falls leading twenty eight to nothing. Third and nine from their own forty
nine yard line. Shipman pumps. Now he's gonna roll back. I think
he was trying to get that toOlsen. Olsen picks up and Blitz gets
away and he's spun down and heis in the grasp he was down at
(01:22:34):
the forty yard line. Don't needto call that intentional grounding down at the
forty. That's a nine yard losson the scramble and the sack and a
great job again pursuing by River Falls, a sack made by Riley Ustgard.
And now the punt unit out herefor North. And if you just take
a look at that body language ofNorth walking and trotting off the field,
(01:22:56):
they just they just know, theyjust feel disappointed. You can feel that
energy from up here just looking downat them. Heads are looking down,
shoulders looking, shoulders are kind ofhunched forward. They're just disappointed that this
is gonna be a way that theseason ends if they cannot get anything going
here in this fourth quarter. Yeah, three and one to start the season
and they're staring a five game losingstreak in the face right now. A
(01:23:18):
little bit of a high snap andalmost a block probably should have been a
block punt there his Perkins gets itaway and they're gonna fall awkwardly on it
back at the twenty seven yard line. There river falls. That's Preston Johnson
with it. Two fifty nine lefthere in the third Wildcats twenty eight oaklaner
or nothing, one more touchdown. We've got a running clock here. So
that's an unfortunate way if that endsup being the case for North season to
(01:23:42):
end here tonight. Yeah, andyou you hate to see that. This
team has had so much heart andso much fight throughout most of the games
this season. But as you cantell, they've really benefited from a great
from an easier start to their season. Well, and you know, this
is a Dan This is a teamthat they made strike last year. They
got that big upset win against Menomineand everybody's oh wait, wait a minute
(01:24:03):
here, Now, this is ateam that might be able to do something
next year. They've made that nextstep, I think, but there's still
a step or two away, right, There's still a player or two away,
it seems like, from making areally big leap. Is here's a
run right up the gut, upall the way to the forty two seven
yard line. The backup running backCharlie Lows and he gets a massive gain
(01:24:25):
of about nineteen first down and they'llmove the chains. Yeah, that was
just a great job by Charlie Lows. Also a great job by that offensive
line, and he's been doing They'vebeen doing numbers on this Oakland North defensive
line all night long, and there'sbeen sometimes where deep the Oakland North defensive
line has been able to stop them, but just not really getting much traction
(01:24:45):
in the second half. I don'tthink you're gonna see anymore at Jonah Severson
here tonight. His night might bedone. As Losch gets another handoff up
the gut, hits the hole, gets a couple to the forty eight yard
line, two yard game on theplay twenty eight nothing, River falls to
twenty five to go in the thirdclock ticking. River Falls was second and
eight. And Loach isn't a badrunner either. Just because he's a backup
(01:25:06):
doesn't mean he doesn't mean he's bad. I feel like people give a negative
connotation from backup running backs and backupquarterbacks and all that. I mean,
he's got twenty four attempts, onehundred and twenty eight yards, and that's
five yards a carry, you're sayingthat makes me think you were a backup
running back. All of a sudden, I've been rolling out to the right
and looking to throw. Here isRange downfield. He's got a man,
(01:25:27):
but he threw it kind of behindhim the tight end. Eli Johnson.
He was up here in the northforty yard line. Should have been a
completion, just not a great throw. The clock stops on the incompletion.
Third and eight coming up one fiftysix lapt third quarter, Wildcats twenty eight
and oaklare North Nothing. A coupleof score updates for you real quick,
damn Nomine. He's still leading twentyeight. Nothing over Memorial. They've got
the ball in the red zone ofMemorial in the third quarter. There no
(01:25:50):
update on the time. Hudson againup big on a new Richmond again a
big surprise there, thirty five toseven. Hudson leads it nine to nineteen.
Left to go in the fourth quarterof that game, still seven to
nothing. Chip Boy leading Superior inthe fourth quarter. Here's Losha on a
run right side. He had ahole. For a moment I thought he
was gone. He gets across thenorth forty five yard line up to the
(01:26:12):
forty two and that's enough for afirst down. They'll move the chains is
Oak Claire North get him at thestop there with the krey Linman. But
it's first down for River Falls.Yeah, in this Oaklayer North, they're
just kind of letting whatever happened tothem just happened to him, really taking
whatever the offense is giving them. They you can just tell from the body
language they feel like this game isover and unless they can get some solid
(01:26:34):
stops, it really could be overfor them. Mondovi also up thirty to
six on Fall Creek, so itlooks like Mondovi and Regis will share the
clover Belt championship this year. Loshaa big run up the gut across the
thirty and there are just I meanred sea parting holes opening up here in
(01:26:55):
this Oak Claire North defense. Sothey'll get it up to the twenty six
on that game. Here for RiverFalls, okay, one thirteen left to
go in the third quarter. Yeah, it doesn't even really matter who River
Falls has it running back. Thatoffensive line has been able to really work
their way up and down that defensiveline and up to their linebackers, which
(01:27:15):
just is amazing if you have anoffense that can run like that, they'll
pitch it out here to los Loshgot a good sealed block as they were
trying to blitz on that play withOaklaire North, and he'll roll over a
tackler up to about the nineteen yardline. Stopped down the play by Carter
Vance and now forty seconds remain herein the third quarter, Roundcats twenty eight,
(01:27:36):
Claire North nothing and it's in thered zone with a second and three
here for River Falls. A littledisappointing. We might not see Oaklaire North
breaking their playoff drought for a bit, but they've made some strides so far
this season. They definitely have stepsin the right direction. Losh with a
huge run ten to five touchdown RiverFalls. Touchdown, River Falls, absolutely,
(01:28:01):
I mean again, just massive holeup the middle and it's a nineteen
yard touchdown run for Loche and justlike that, it's thirty four nothing Wildcats
one more point and we'll get arunning clock in the fourth quarter. And
it's really seemed like they give up. They've gave This defense has given up
since that last drive. Right. It is too bad because you really like
(01:28:23):
to see this team can go outand compete night after night after night.
But just watching that kind of youcan't say it's a dagger because we haven't
even started the fourth quarter yet,but it really does feel like a dagger.
Yeah, it certainly does. Here'sthe extra point attempt. It is
up, and it is and sneakthrough it did all did that get through?
Knuckled over the crossbar. I don'teven know who that one got in,
(01:28:46):
but it did. And number fortynine there it's a Gavin Carful barely
gets that through. Thirty five nothing, seventeen seconds up, third quarner.

(01:31:46):
to Raymerfield. You have your RiverFalls Wildcats up thirty five nothing on the
Oak Claire North Huskies start up thefourth quarter here and man, has it
been all the severer game from RiverFalls out here? The Wildcats Peecnuts and
Dan Zohon's here on the call withyou and Pete. It has not looked
great for all Claire North, No, it hasn't. You mentioned two O
(01:32:10):
seven's what I got for Siverson onthe game and mentioned the two hundred yard
games. He's been very, verygood tonight and now North just trying to
get on the board. Yeah, and here's Shipman fakes a handoff and he's
gonna take it himself, bouncing aroundthe left side and he's got a little
bit of room to run along theoutside edge and just barely getting out of
bounds a little bit past the sticks. And that it's going to be a
good, solid first down run fromZach Shipman, who's there, very versatile
(01:32:33):
quarterback. Imagine that, you know, going into next year, he's just
a sophomore, so and imagine thatMatt McGinnis is going to do a lot
of that read option next year, especially if he's the guy, depending on
what McCracken does obviously next year aswell. But he runs that read option
really well. He tucks it.He kind of fakes the ball well it
holds it out there a while andthen gets around the edge in a nice
(01:32:54):
run for him. Yeah, he'sgot some great awareness out there on the
field. Some stuff you don't reallysee it, and especially not with his
stats. But Shipman back to Shipmanback to take the snap at the thirty
yard line of north as he throwsto his big receiver that's Brady Jensen,
who's gonna run for about a gainof six or seven on the play there.
Great catch by Brady Jensen along thesideline right kind of around the bench
(01:33:18):
of almost called him UW river falls, but they kind of really been playing
like it tonight. Six yard gameby my count too. That's four straight
completions for Zach Shipman on past attempt. So he started to settle in and
has done a nice job in thismid range game throwing the ball. Yeah,
and it seems like the rain issettled down just a tiny bit up
(01:33:38):
there, still a little bit goingthere. As cam Olson takes the hand
off from Zach Shipman, he bouncesaround the left side and has got enough
for our first down a little bitpast the sticks, about three yards past
the sticks. Kind of around theforty five yard line. He runs and
cam Olson's starting to get a littlebit of his rhythm going here, and
I'm looking back at my stats here, I think, Dan, that's the
(01:34:00):
only that this is the first drivethat they've had two first downs on a
drive. Might be the second, but again they just the first sounds have
been hard to come by here tonight. A little bit of a sad stat
if you're an Eau Claire North fan, wish to see that offense take off,
but they've got years to come stillwith this young team, shipman back
in the pocket, he's gonna fakesthe handoff, but then take gives it
to cam Olsen first, like hekind of hesitated as that river falls,
(01:34:24):
defense pushes cam Olsen back after abouta gain of three on the play.
Yeah, that's that Reid option playwhere it looks like he's gonna hand it
off, doesn't. Then he finallygives it to him, and you guys,
hear a lot of cheering from thesideline. I believe one of the
uh maybe one of the second thirdstringers getting in there to make that tackle
on cam Olsen and that set theWildcat sideline into a little bit of a
(01:34:45):
frenzy there now in the second andseven. Yeah, maybe seeing a couple
of fan favorites out there who haven'treally seen much of the field so far
this season. Nine five running onthe clock. Remember it's thirty five in
here for the Wildcats, so it'sgonna stay a running clock for the rest
of this quarter barring another touchdown. As Zach Shipman rolls out under pressure throws
it away. Almost had his bigreceiver Brady Jensen again, who's been kind
(01:35:10):
of open on those out routes alongthe outside edges there. It's, you
know, so hard for a ridyrolling to his left to square your body
back up and throw that ball. And when you're got, when you have
Cody Olsen bearing down on you again, even to take that time to do
it, you're basically just giving upa sack. So he just kind of
had to throw it away. Hegot hit pretty hard by Olsen there.
But that's the other thing about himtoo. We don't talk about it because
(01:35:31):
he's a runner. He's also apretty tough dude out there. A guy
can take a hit and seems topop up most of the time as well.
Yeah, I remember it was maybea game or two ago. Shipman
was running. He had a runningplane. He just bowled over a couple
defenders. He's he's not afraid tolower his shoulder unlike some quarterbacks. Shipman
back in the pocket, cam Olsenin motion fakes to cam Olsen. He's
(01:35:53):
gonna take off Shipman to the fortyof river Falls and he's gonna go down
there. Hard to hit by numberfifty eight on river Falls. That is
Lincoln McCarty. We called him hisname a couple of times. Five to
eleven, two hundred and fifteen pounddefensive lineman. Yeah, he hit him
hard, and then if he sawthat he got up, he kind of
got into the face of a crack. I'm a little surprised thirty five nothing
(01:36:15):
officials didn't throw a flag there tokind of just stop that. Right,
you want to kind of take controlof that if you're an official at that
point. And I mean, riverFalls is gonna win this game, right,
so they're you know, they're kindof cocky. They're gonna get their
fourth conference win. They're gonna definitelyqualify for the playoffs this year. But
this is where you gotta watch outfor a little bit of that that talking
that could happen here late in thegame in this kind of situation, especially
(01:36:38):
since most of the river Falls playersout there on defense are backup. Shipman
back with cam Olson to the rightof him, takes the snap, fakes
it to cam Olson, throws itdeep down the far side, not really
to anyone. He was targeting,I believe if I'm for TJ. Johnson,
Yeah, targeting. T J.Johnson didn't really get a good grip
(01:36:59):
on it as he had a littlebit of pressure bearing down on it and
he's got a little bit of winbehind him and Dan. You know,
we've seen that's the second time nowwhen they just ran just a straight go
route with Johnson where he's gotten separationfrom his defender. And you know,
this is a hard night to throwa deep pass with the wind either into
or with you, regardless of whatit is. But boy, I mean,
that's just one where you look atit and you met How do they
(01:37:20):
not use that play more? BecauseJohnson's got the speed to get separation on
most cornerbacks he's going up against, and Shipman does, despite him being a
very mobile quarterback, has some goodarm talent. Shipman hand off to cam
Olsen right up the middle and he'sgoing to get some good chunk yards there.
About a game of five for Olsenon the play. He's really getting
some ground game going here. Latein this fourth quarter, was six thirty
(01:37:45):
five left on the clock. Ikind of got folded up on there,
but again he stumped back. Andnow they're going to change out balls.
See the officials going into the sidelineand get a dryer ball there. That's
something that they may have been askedfor us. You wonder if North might
go to the air on this playon third and five, and uh boy,
were already about halfway through this quarter, and looks like North wants to
stop the clock, that running clockby taking one of their time outs.
(01:38:08):
Yeah, Matt McGinnis taking a timeout here with his oh Claire North team.
Six seventeen left on the clock, thirty five nothing for the Wildcats.
And it has been a it's beena it's been a rough game to watch
if you're an old Claire North fan. It's been really hard. But there's
been some bright sides though. Yeah, it's been an unfortunate five games,
right, I mean, this one'sbeen a tough one, and they they
(01:38:29):
run into the big really powerful slatein the big rivers here, and of
course from you know, New Richmondhandled them. We saw me Nominee pretty
much handled them at Williams Stadium aswell. And those better teams have taken
care of North. But like wesaid, I mean, they've taken the
strides and it's thirty five to nothingright now. But we watch this seam
and there's definitely signs that if theycan keep this up, but they keep
(01:38:49):
him implementing the system, Matt McGinnisgoing to his third season next year,
they can I think, finally getover that hump. You know, It's
just it's little increments. So oftenyou see those teams like Colorado the beginning
of the season, all of asudden they're playing great with Leon Sanders and
everybody. It doesn't happen that quickly, right, It's an incremental thing.
And that's what's happening with North rightnow and now. A lot of culture
(01:39:10):
ship needs to happen before now andthen, and they have the right track
going here. But Shipman starting withthis one a little screen pass and it
got a little bit out of thehands of TJ. Johnson there didn't really
get to him, did it.That was. I think that was a
wind ball there, because you couldsee that. I thought it was right
at Johnson when it started, andthen all of a sudden it took a
right turn, just moved right upfield with the wind. I don't think
(01:39:32):
that was anybody's fault there. Thatwas just a wind aided miss. And
now it's fourth and five, andpretty much any chance to score in this
game is coming down to this playhere for the Huskies. Yeah, and
this has been the best they've moveddown the field, sitting at h sitting
at the River Falls, thirty fiveyard line here, fourth down, five
minutes and four. He's taking downon the clock, thirty five nothing.
(01:39:54):
Wildcats about two receivers to the right, one to the left. Got Cammell's
on the back back field with Shipmanabout to take the snap right here,
and he's gonna go drop back topass looking his right, pumps throws it
and it's looked like it was completedat first, but it's gonna be called
an incompletion and a turnover on downsas the Wildcats will take over. Hearn's
(01:40:19):
had it, did he? Yeah? He must have been incompiled. I
didn't see the initial signal there, but yeah, must have bobbled it or
he came down out of bounds. It's closed that all the River Falls wildcats
standing right on that sideline there,And yeah, that's unfortunate because it was
a decent play and given it agood job to find him right to stay
open to kind of scramble around alittle bit to gain some space and make
(01:40:41):
that throw, but just not ableto convert it. And now we'll see
probably some of the backups here forRiver Falls into the game. And that's
been kind of the story of thisgame too. Really some nice a few
drawing, nicely drawn up plays, just kind of really couldn't convert it very
well, or really couldn't get muchgoing on that play. As the quarterback
in right now, I believe haschanged. It is number twelve handing it
(01:41:04):
off here and it's Tino Massa thathands it off. Not really much gained
on that play, as they stillhave Louci into the game, another good
backup for them, and that's onlygonna be a gain of about one or
two yards on the play. Andyou see maybe a couple of the backups
in for North in on defense, but a lot of the same guys in
their Hindbucks still in along with theMaddox, Gertz and others. So we'll
(01:41:28):
trying to see if anybody else newsneaks into the game, but they're gonna
keep mainly the first teamers out there. With four minutes left, Massa standing
in the back, kind of justwaiting around, laying time tick off the
clock, not really in much ofa hurry down up thirty five nothing on
Oaklare North Huskies. Kind of talkingto his offensive line. Takes the snap,
hands it off. It's lush gaininga little bit. I'm sorry,
(01:41:50):
that's not Loosh. That is numbertwenty three. Another backup has entered the
game. I believe that's Brody Schaeferone getting that handoff there, getting a
little bit of yardage, but nota lot. As you said, Oklair
North. He still have some oftheir seniors out there. I think that's
Joe Terra Savich actually who's into thegame. He's one of the sophomore running
(01:42:11):
value's starting to It almost feels alittle bit like a JV game right now
with the guys that are out there, which obviously means this game is out
of hand and unfortunate for North.Again, the way that this is a
season is going to end for himbecause again a great start and just just
a rough rough last month. Yeah, it really has been a rough last
month. Three minutes and two seconds, sticking down on the clock, Mass
is sitting in the backfield, littlehandoff dumped to twenty one. He gets
(01:42:38):
a little bit of yardage there,Joseph Tara Sewitz, and he's gonna get
that first down too, bouncing aroundthe outside and getting to about the forty
seven I believe, Yes, theforty seven and getting a first down,
and a great job by that RiverFalls offensive line. We've been saying it
all game long. Yeah, terrorsavis around the outside and does a good
(01:42:59):
job just kind of finding some space. And like I said, I mean
there's a number of first team playersin there still for O Claire North,
so no sophomore is gaining against that. I mean, this is a kind
of experience right now. Maybe youmight not use it in the playoffs,
but this is the kind of thingsthat these sophomores they come back next year
as juniors. And I was inagainst the front line for O Claire North
and I made some I made somehay with with what I did. Yeah,
and that's exactly what coaching staff isgonna look for for their new youth
(01:43:23):
movement. Massa handing off to TerraSabitz and he's not gonna get much on
that play. In fact, hemight have lost a yard or two on
that play. A great job bythe o Claire North defensive line getting up
there, and it's gonna be seconddown in about eleven. Husky's have two
timeouts, Wildcats have three. Imean, I don't think they can kneel
out the clock right now, butyou would see some teams in the center.
(01:43:44):
I know it's all the backups inthere, but thirty five nothing.
They might take a knee here andjust let the clock tick downs. Now
we're under two minutes. Yeah, sitting at one minute thirty eight seconds left
to go on the clock. Notreally lined up in the victory formation yet.
They might try and get in otherrun playoff here, maybe try and
get a first down. They couldsurely sit in victory formation and just kind
(01:44:05):
of kneel this clock out, butI think they want to give their rookie
running backs some time to get somerun through here. As Tara Savits goes
up and gets to about close tothe fifty yard line. They're gonna mark
them about at the fifty yard line, so gain of a couple and it's
gonna bring up third down and aboutnine or third down to eight or third
(01:44:26):
down and seven. I should sayon this play, couldn't really see what
they're staking up there? Well it'syou know, it's water drop what's on
our window or ball? Oh upthere that you're looking at. But now
yeah, with under a minute left, they could I believe, just kneel
this down and it be over andall. Good job by River Falls,
Right, they've made some hay againand they made some noise and they're gonna
get back to the playoffs for anotheryear. And they had a great season
(01:44:47):
last year. They're gonna hope thatit goes a lot longer this season.
A really exciting team to watch outfor in the playoffs. And this is
gonna be this is gonna be apass play right here, and it's deflected
by number seven, that is KayJohnson for oh Claire North. Great job
by him on the recognition. Abit of an interesting play to call with
twenty five seconds left in this fourthquarter. I mean, I get I
(01:45:10):
understand getting some run through with youryoung guys, but this late in the
fourth quarter, really yeah, Idon't know. I mean the clock keeps
running, with the running clock,so with incompletion didn't matter, and riper
Fall is gonna get to win,and Oak Claire North's gonna come up one
win short of getting on the bubblefor the playoffs, and that'll be Oh
Claire regis the only OA Claire schoolofficially who's gonna get in the playoffs this
(01:45:31):
year. And there'll be the onesjust trying to carry the church for the
for the Chippawa Valley, if youwill, going into the WIA playoffs next
week. Yeah, I'm coaches nextto us not really having a good time
with this. Not a great time, not a great time. But O
Claire North they've really shown they've reallyshown a little bit of progress this season.
I mean, like we both said, a culture shift isn't gonna change
(01:45:55):
overnight. This is not a nightand day thing. This is something that
takes time to to accumulate and tokind of get those young players really assimilated
into the system and really get somethinggoing, something that you want to see
going out forward. I mean, this team hasn't seen the playoffs since nineteen
ninety eight. So you're gonna wantto see more of this kind of success
going forward. And I mean it'sbeen better than recent years. North certainly
(01:46:21):
has. And yeah, it's unfortunatehere, Dan and uh as we look
at the kind of final score line, thirty five to nothing again oa'claire North.
They'll officially finish the season three andsix, two and five in Big
Rivers Conference play. They were twoand seven last year, So it's you
know, it's one more win, that's it's one more step, like we
said, in the right direction.Next year, you know, they beat
(01:46:43):
Memorial, they beat Superior this year. Next year is gonna be an interesting
one because of course North the Memorialare going over to the whatever they're calling
it, the Big Rivers Slash ValleyFootball Association East or West or whatever it
might be. So they're gonna havea whole new slate of teams to play
next year. So the question iscan you make the next step. But
you're not gonna be playing the RiverFalls, You're not gonna be playing the
New Richmonds and the Hudson's. They'regonna be playing Marshfield, Spashed, Wassaw
(01:47:08):
West, DC, Everest, allthose teams as well. So will they
make that step, I don't know, because it's a whole new, new
set of teams. So that's gonnabe I think, really interesting next year
when North of Memorial get underway,so especially a tough, tough set of
teams there, especially, we'll certainlysee do you want to We'll just keep
it here around on our coverage.Does that work might as well? Yeah,
(01:47:29):
all right, I can, Ican, I can get you there.
We've just hit the nine o'clock houron GLASSIC Rock ninety two one FM,
wm Q ME, Dominio, ClaireChip will Falls Rock nine two one
dot com, and iHeart Radio.A couple quick scores for you. Hudson
wins tonight thirty five to thirteen overNew Richmond. So Hudson is your big
Rivers Conference champion, which I thinka lot of people thought at the beginning
of the season they were gonna theywere likely the favorite. New Richmond was
(01:47:51):
kind of the surprise team and thatI think people thought they'd be good but
wouldn't contend. They did contend, just missed it out tonight at home against
Hudson, and Menominee was up bigat last check from Carson Park. Fact,
they won thirty six to nothing tonight, so not much different than what
we saw here between between North andRiver Falls. And then a pretty good
(01:48:15):
one up in Superior. But Ibelieve Chippewa might be No, they're not
taking the knee yet. Chippo leadsten to six in the fourth quarter with
two oh seven left and they justrattle off a big run and they might
have just won it with that playright there. So Chippewa will win that
final game up in Superior. Buttell you what, Superior, I mean,
that's tough. That team didn't Yeah, that teams struggled this year,
(01:48:36):
and they played Chippo really close,so it's impressive they were able to hang
in that much. Yeah, theyplayed a lot of teams that really blew
them out of the water. AndChipple is not a no knock on Chipwa.
They are a decent team. Theyaren't the greatest team out there by
all means, but definitely a surprisethat Superior was able to keep it as
(01:48:56):
close as they are. Ten tosix. Just really interesting to really interesting
to see late in the season.Yeah, thirty six to six Mondovie Leeds
Fall Creek. There's still nine minutesleft in that one, but looks like
Mondovi's well on the way to winthere. All right, well, you
might be might be with me nextweek with Regis again. We plan on
picking up Regis here on Classic Rockninety two to one. We do not
(01:49:18):
know who their opponent is yet,but they finished the season seven and two.
They had a six and one markin the conference play and they likely
will be at Carson Park at leastnext week, if not the week after,
and they will try to start therepeat, start the chance to go
back to state and win that Dseven title again with a team that's maybe
(01:49:38):
not as not as telling as hasbeen in the past, but still a
very good team, a very solidgroup of guys. So well, it's
been fun, Dan. Hopefully weget to do it again next week and
then off we go to the WinterSports. Yeah, oh yeah, and
I can't wait, can't wait tocall it any of those games too.
Those will be a fun bounce. And this playoff seems like it's gonna be
a really good time. This isgonna be a really good We're gonna see
(01:49:58):
some really great matches out there.Certainly will again. It's been a lot
of fun, great job there inthe fourth quarter as well, taking us
home a special thanks to all ourgreat sponsors who've made it happen all season
long. We hope to be withyou next Friday. Again, just pay
attention to our website social media accounts. We'll let you know what game we

two things. You tune into footballFriday night starting at nine thirty over our

in Menominee and of course on theiHeartRadio app to search for WMQ nine thirty
two eleven. We'll be doing areport of our game on the right Road
home as well. And then ofcourse we will be looking at least watching
WQOW On Saturday morning at eleven o'clock. WQOW will have the statewide release of
(01:50:44):
the brackets and the whole football playoffsituation there as well, So that's going
to be a kind of a statewidething on all the WQOWXO all those channels
throughout the state. So that shouldbe a lot of fun, So tune
in there if you want to knowwhere all your favorite teams getting to the
