It's high school football action on MooseCountry one oh six point seven this
evening. It's the Level three roundof the D seven WIAA tournament. And
as it's the number two seed EdgarWildcats against the number one seed Boyceville Bulldogs.

I'm Scott Monosano. Welcome to youtoo. High school football coverage presented
by the Stolecraft Company Kitchen and Tap. We'll have kickoff coming up at seven,
and before then we'll get you setup with this matchup. It feels
real now, like the day afterThanksgiving and those Christmas songs begin to hit

and the snow looks fluffier. Youknow, the holidays have arrived. That
is the case now in terms ofthe postseason in Wisconsin high school football.
As once we hit the third roundas we tonight, a trip to Madison
and an appearance in a state championshipgame is very much a real possibility.

(01:08):
You're two wins away from getting theMadison you are three wins away from winning
it all. Thus far, inthe northwestern side of the D seven bracket,
the top seeds have validated their spotsand that sets up this matchup tonight
featuring a number two seeded Edgar teamand the number one seeded Boyceville team.

(01:33):
Winner moves on to the semi finalsnext week. And as we'll discuss,
this is a game because of thetwo defenses that and don't laugh about this,
this could very well feel like it'sa sudden death matchup right from the
start. First one to six wins. Now, let's start off with Boyceville.

(01:53):
This is the best season for thisprogram in decades. Won the outright
Saint Croix Conference title, first timein more than sixty years that they have
done that. The oldest citizens can'tremember the last time they had won the
conference crown. Outright. This isa program that went winless about eight years

(02:15):
ago, a program that's very muchon the rise, and they got by
Spring Valley not once but twice.Spring Valley's been really the gold standard of
this conference for the last decade andBoyceville beat him not once but twice.
That is definitely added to their confidence. Now Boyceville has an outstanding defense,

(02:42):
only fifty three total points allowed.Only once have they allowed a team to
score more than once against them ina game. They allowed twelve points to
call Fax early in the year ingarbage time. Other than that, they'll
allow a touchdown here or there,but they allow teams to get much against
them, and in fact, inthe postseason just three points allowed on a

(03:06):
long field goal in week number one. Now we talk about the defense,
the passing game is very much athreat for this Boyceville team. We have
not seen it as much as theseason's gone deeper, but weather is good
tonight and they may very well needthat passing game because it is a threat

to be able to go over thetop of defenses, which might be necessary
today against Edgar. We'll talk aboutthat in a moment. But here's where
Carson rome Heel, the sophomore quarterbackwho's been very good, and Caden Wold,
who's got that big play capability asa wide receiver, is so key.
Now let's talk about Edgar. Underthe direction of the legendary head coach

Jerry Sins, they are back yetagain in level three of the playoffs.
Routinely they reach this level the semisstate championship games and win it all.
A lot of deep playoff runs andchampionships for a program unlike Boyceville. That
pretty much it's a FATA complete thatthey're going to be playing in the November

year after year. They are verymuch a football school and football town and
they've backed it up for the lastfive decades under Jerry Sis. Now Edgar,
what do they do. They doit via defense. They have not
allowed any points since Week two.That is nine straight games we have shutouts.

(04:35):
They shut out their entire conference slateand also two playoff games. Last
week, Edgar shutout Regis. Weknow how good Regis can be here in
western Wisconsin. Edgar shut them out. Now, Regis drove a bunch of
times in that game and got intothe red zone, but could not finish

(04:56):
off drives and also missed a fieldgoal in the game. Still, Edgar
has been suffocating on defense and eventhough Regis may have moved the ball a
bit last week, they still wereslowed by this Edgar team. Edgar can
also put some points on the board. You get to this level, you're
gonna have a great defense and you'regonna be able to score. And for

Edgar, it all begins with CarterButt. The standout running back that they
have, a punishing runner is Carterbut twenty four total touchdowns on the year,
nearing thirteen hundred yards on the ground. So it's Boyceville and Edgar.
Tonight winner will get either castion orbanger on a neutral site next week.

Does Edgar, a legendary program,chalk up another run to the semi finals
or does Boyceville, having the program'sbest run in decades, continue this dream

to win at all once you getto this level. Let's go through tonight's
keys to the game. First andgoal, if you will. We start
off on first down, defense andwe start with defense. For Boyceville.

Defense has been so good for Boycevillethis year. They only have the three
shutouts on the season do the BoycevilleBulldogs, but they don't allow many points.
They'll allow six or seven points hereor they're a very good defense for
the Boyceville Bulldogs. Zach Hellen drunkeighty six tackles on the year, nineteen

for a loss. Moving on,you've got the Edgar Wildcats. Second down.
Edgar's defense nine consecutive shutouts for theEdgar Wildcats, they have not allowed
any points since Week number two,shut out their entire conference late and a
pair of playoff games as well.Moving on the third down, because of
what I just said when we're talkingabout the defense is very much scoring first

in this game is going to beso key. This don't laugh. This
could very well feel like it's suddendeath. First team to score wins.
You laugh about it, but there'sdefinitely a little bit of seriousness to that
as well. Neither one of theseteams, because of their defense, gives
up leads. Look at what Boycevilledid just three weeks ago against Spring Valley.

Once they got the lead against SpringValley in that final regular season game,
that game was over with and Edgarvery much the same way. You
fall behind on them, it's gonnabe very hard to chase points. And
finally moving on to fourth down,Cayden Wold, that is the X factor
in this game. Cayden Wold withthe Boyceville Bulldogs. We talk about defense

and all of that, and bothteams got good quarterbacks Teagan Street for Edgar,
Carson rome Heald for Boyceville. Bothteams have got good running games as
well. But Cayden Wold will bean interesting X factor today. Wold the
senior wide receiver for Boyceville. Bigplay capabilities, We've seen it the last
few weeks. Fifty yard touchdown receptions, punt returns for touchdowns, that is

on this Friday night. The EdgarWildcats ten and one overall. They lost
their first game of the year,eight to six at larger Ellsworth. Since

then, they've been dominating, includingnine consecutive shutouts. Meanwhile, the Boysville
Bulldogs eleven and zero, best seasonin decades for this program or the direction
of longtime head coach Michael Rome.Healed. Here we go and the seeds
have been validated. The first coupleof weeks. Two seeded Edgar at number

one seed Boyceville. And as Ihave said, and I say it not
tongue in cheek, I say itseriously. This could be the first team
to score wins. Boyceville will getthe ball first when we get kickoff here
in about two minutes from now.Temperatures are in the forties. They will
dip into the mid thirties. Butagain, as nice of a night as

you could really draw up in November, no threat of rain or anything like
that. Nearly all of the seatsare on the near side of us where
you and I are situated. Thereare some kind of small little league like
bleachers on the side opposite of us, but most people are on the set

iowhere you and I are on thisFriday night. Edgar always travels well.
It's a football town, it's afootball school. They have a deep amount
of support there, so they alwaystravel very well. Jerry Sids in his
forty ninth year as the head coachof the Edgar Wildcats two thousand and three
State Coach Hall of Famer. Hewas in the Hall of Fame in two

thousand and thirty. He's in thisStout Hall of Fame as of two thousand
and six. His son Justin playedafter due and has helped out on the
coaching staff as well. Any seasoncould be his last. He's openly discussed
contemplating retirement for the last few years. Not as shock if he ever does

retire, not as shock when hereturns as well. They finished introducing both
of the teams. Edgar's gonna bewearing their green helmets, their white tops,
and their green pants. Meanwhile forBoyceville, black helmets, black tops,
and dark blue bottoms. In thefirst quarter, Boyceville's gonna head from

right till left across the radio dialor listening device and thanks to the iHeart

Drung have been so good running theball, but the ability of Carson Rome
held to maybe hit Caden Wold forsome big passes will be big. Harrison
Gravine does the kicking for Edgar,a straight on kicker. He's an offensive
guard and also kicks. He'll meetboot to ball and away we go,
end over and kick. Wold willtake it at his ten for Boyceville.
Shimmy's past the twenty kicks to theright side of the sideline, gets to

the thirty yard line, and spundown past the thirty near the thirty five,
so good field position for Boyceville toget things under way. Reis moved
the ball a bit. I guessEdgar but could not finish off drives last
week, so that's something to keepin mind. Again, nobody has scored

against Edgar since week number two.Carson Rome held will leave the offense for
Boyceville fifty eight percent completion percentage hasn'tbeen passing as much though the last few
weeks. He's under center first andten from the thirty four and off to
Helen Drung. He's over the thirtyfive to the thirty six, a gain

of a couple Jack Kellen Drunk ZachHelen Drunk. Nearing one hundred rushes on
the year, he has been calledon more in the last few weeks,
averaging more than seven yards per carry, six touchdowns. Second down and eight
from the thirty six coming up forBoyceville. Boyceville cheerleaders on the track below

backfield, Helen Drong has to diveback on it. They'll lose a couple
of yards and Boysville is gonna gothree and now to open up the game

came out of the under center theball slipped away from him as slippery as
a salmon covered in vasileen. Thankfullyfor Boyceville, though Ellen Drunk was able
to flop on it prevent a turnoverthere and Wold will be on the punt
standing at his own twenty five yardline. Carter Butt Hegan Street had to
return back at their thirty yard line. Wol takes a knee high snap,

gets the punt away. Balls fumbledon the UH ball's three at the thirty
three of Boyceville, but boys wasgonna fall on it. Teagan Street,
the quarterback who also returns kicks forEdgar, had the ball go through his
hands, off his belly button andflop down between his feet, but he

was able to flop on it rightthere, like a like a kid falling
on top of their teddy bear asthey fall off of the bed. It'll
be first in ten for Edgar attheir own thirty three yard line. Is
they'll get their first possession in thisscoreless game in the opening couple of minutes,

Tagan Street fifty nine percent completion percentage, doesn't throw the ball that much,
though a lot of it's Carter,but who's nearing two hundred rushes on
the year. Street though, takesa shotgun snap, rolls out near side.
There's a flag on the play ashe's battled up by Nickols and gets
some help from his friends. Acouple of yards on the carry for tiague

in Street. But we'll see whatthe flag is throwing round the line in
the vicinity of a hold, andthat's what you would assume here, and
that is the case, a wholenon Edgar, which will push them back.
So that'll end up setting up asecond down and twenty Boysville. Not

only does Edgar travel well, buttheir student body comes as well, and
number of the students are down intoour left. Meanwhile, the Boysville students
are down into our right. Withthe penalty, the balls marched back at

rolls out near side, thinks abouttalking and under being chased. He's
gonna get back to the last scrimmage, hits the near sideline and runs out
of Bouds after a short gain.Nickolson was there to escort him out of
Bouds. Gained a couple of yardson the plane. It sends up a
third down and four so a coupleof times. Now Tiegan Street has gone

for the past, but good jobby Boyceville on sort of coverage sacks third
down and four from right at midfieldfor Edgar. Edgar converting nearly fifty percent
of their third downs this year.Carry up the middle to Carter Butt,

lowers his shoulder a collision at theline. He falls ahead and has the
first down. I believe he neededfour. He's gonna get four and a
half at Edgar into plus territory hasfirst in ten at the Boyceville forty six
yard line. Edgar has gone somebig plays early from Carter Bud and Boyceville

will have to figure out a wayto slow him down now again they've slowed
down his Boyceville other big time runningbacks like Spring Valley's Diego Smith. The

roll of bleachers, because it's playoffs. Er every bit of your attentions on
the field. Though when you takea moment, it's hot chocolate weather.
It is chili all right. TeagonStreet under center fakes the game, steps
up in the pocket, now throwsover the metal diving attempt for the first
down. The twenty is incomplete.He had a guy open at the twenty

yard line who had found a softspot there, but he threw behind him
and incomplete, and it'll be thirddown and nine from the plus thirty one
for Edgar and Edgar converting fifty threepercent of their third downs. They're staying
on the field, so that isso big in a game like this,

and likely two down territory from thethirty one yard line in plus territory,
so they don't need all nine backsix thirty nine to play in the first
quarter zero zero of this round threeplayoff game. Quarterback under center, two
backs behind him, and off toWeisenberger's got the first down right through the

right side of the line as hemissiles his way for ten yards inside of
the twenty to the nineteen yard linewith all the play is a first down
ball spotted. A lot of theruns by Edgar, I have a slight
bit of a misdirection to them,and that is opening up big gaps in

the otherwise very thick defensive line ofBoyceville. First and ten for Edgar at
the eighteen yard line, straight willhand it off to but going through the
left side, he's wrapped up keepsthe legs moving, bodies tumble, and
he'll fall ahead in a sea ofteenage boy bodies. Down at the fifteen

it's like imploding a an old hIt's like imploding a closed Mall things go
in, but there's all the dustinand debris. It doesn't happen cleanly.

Second down and six again to Carter, but through the medal, he's got
a big game. Inside of tendown to the five wars his shoulder times
across the goal line, and he'sin touchdown. Touchdown Edgar. Carter,
but from fifteen yards down just justbulldozed his way over the Boyceville defense,
and Edgar takes the six to zerolead with five thirty three to play in

the first quarter on the weirds gallopplumbing and heating scoreboard. So Edgar scores
first, and if Boyceville is goingto win, they're gonna have to play
comeback football against an Edgar team thatis not out a point. Since August
Edgar will go for two. Nosmall feet in a game like this,
street fakes the gift rolls out nearside being Chase flings it towards the end

zone backed away. Big play byKate by uh who cut across there.
That's gonna be landing. Leslie,the sophomore cornerbacker, came across and broke
