Speaker 1 (00:00):
The game is done.

Speaker 2 (00:02):
Wrap this one up.

Speaker 1 (00:04):
Now the reaction begins. This is Clippers Locker Room, your
post game look at the LA Clippers on the LA
Clippers Audio Network. Now your pre and postgame host Adam Osland.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
Kawhi Leonard helps the Clippers to a one fourteen one
oh seven victory, hurt into his home as they take
down the Portland Trail Blazers, and improved to two and
zero here at home, and two and one on this
young season. Welcome into your post game show. I'm Ada Oslin.
Coming up. Well, we'll have some postgame audio from the

(00:40):
head coach and the players after this one. We'll also
get to your second half highlight, your postgame bot score,
and more. But first back over to your radio voice
of the Clippers and Carlo Jimenez. Hey, well, Carlo went
in doubt. Let Kawhi Leonard bail you out on that
jumpery hit over sharp. It looked like a broken possession.
It looked like it could have been the clip twenty

(01:00):
sixth or twenty fifth turnover. I guess they only credit
him won twenty four turnovers in this ball game. Only
it looked like another bad possession that could end in
a turnover instead, Kawhi's butter with the jumper then got
the floater to go and that was all. She wrote
for the Portland trail Blazers. Kawhi is clutch and clutches everything.

Speaker 3 (01:19):
As I say, Adam, that was a bar first of all.
But yeah, Kawhi was excellent. He only had ten rebounds
four times last year, which was a season high. Every
time he did it, he had ten rebounds in Game three.
I mean, that's incredible. You think about where he is physically,
how he feels, his ability to be aggressive, not only

(01:40):
around the glass but in the paint. Second straight game
at him that Kawhi leads the team with twenty one attempts.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
You'd love to see that.

Speaker 3 (01:46):
He had those big three threes in the third quarter
and then his impact defensively able to force turnovers. I
thought for Kawhi Leonard, this was a huge game. There
were moments where the Clippers just needed offense and he
got him. And he played thirty five minute and didn't
look tired, which is incredible thinking how how much he
had the ball they used toge rate. I'm excited to
see after the game because I'm sure it's up there

(02:08):
in the last season and a half of the Clippers.

Speaker 2 (02:10):
Yeah, they clearly were playing through Kawhi Leonard in this
ball game, early, often, and late. It's also their twelve
straight victory over the Portland Trail Blazers when Kawhi Leonard
is available. He's won twelve straight against this team when
he's out there on the court. Pretty impressive. A thirty
ball for him on eleven of twenty one shooting wasn't
just him, though, Aviza Zubats going up against a smaller

(02:32):
Blazers roster at times when Donovan Klingen was out of
the ballgame. He ended up with twenty one in eight
in his thirty five minutes, nine to fourteen from the field.
More big Zoo, more problems for the opposition.

Speaker 3 (02:44):
Yeah, he just dominated. It felt like anytime they got
him the ball in the paint, he got a good shot.
I thought he was really aggressive in this game. After
quiet not offensively on Friday, nine for fourteen from the field,
a couple of nice assists he had three of them,
and then two massive blocks. When the Clippers off sputtered,
Big Zoo really got them back on their feet in
that second quarter. He had eight points in the second

(03:05):
quarter at him and was one bright spot they had
all quarter. But what's even more impressive is you look
at this box score, you look at the defense. That's
what stands out to me. Portland has thirty seven points
in the second quarter. They then only go for twenty
two and twenty five in the third and the fourth.
The Clippers got serious about defense in the second half
and that proved to be huge in this win.

Speaker 2 (03:23):
I mean, I don't know what their defensive rating is
right now in the half court against Portland, but it's
got to be special because the Blazers had twenty nine
fast break points. So when the Clippers weren't turning the
ball over live ball turnovers leading to easy runoffs for
the Portland Trail Blazers, they were in clamp city mode
in half court with their defense. I thought John Collins

(03:44):
was spectacular, really on both ends. But the putback he had,
the three pointer he hit in the fourth quarter, seven
of eight from the field, sixteen points, six boards. You
talk with him postgame, but what just a shot in
the arm for this Clippers group to have somebody with
that motor, with that level of athleticism out there flying
around and making plays.

Speaker 3 (04:05):
Credit Lawrence Frank from pulling the trigger on that trade
because it has proved really beneficial for the Clippers to
just have Collins out there, somebody who can create, get
downhill and then be a flyer on the offensive end.
The Clippers at him really with the way Derek Jones
Junior is playing, with the way John Collins is playing,
they have leak out threats this year, and that has
forced teams to not be able to crash five guys

(04:25):
on the offensive glass.

Speaker 2 (04:26):
You have to respect the Clippers can push it.

Speaker 3 (04:28):
In transition, we talked about the twenty six fast raked
points last game. Wasn't near that number today, but it
still felt like there were moments in which they forced
the Trailblazers to get back defensively early. I was really
impressed with the way John Collins played at the shot
selection he got and really up and down the board.
I mean credit Bogdan Bogdanovitch, who came in to start
in moments I thought he played really well. James Harden

(04:49):
thirteen assists and twenty points in a double double for
him for the first time this season, and the Clippers
just took care of business. This was an impressive win.
Especially with this Portland team that is going to win
a lot more games this season than they did last season.
The Clippers were able to not only take a punch,
but get back up and punch back. After giving up
their eleven point lead, they took back an eleven point
lead in the fourth and were able to come away

(05:10):
with the victory.

Speaker 2 (05:11):
They might have punched themselves in the face a few
different times, like in fight Club here because they were
down five and a half and that second quarter with
eight turnovers, the way they struggled there and how the
game turned back in the favor of the Portland Trailblazers.
Just for the Clippers to come out in that third
quarter and win it by ten and stabilize things, that
was impressive to me. And you said it, but you know,

(05:32):
if you have twenty four turnovers and somehow win the
ballgame and do so without even getting to clutch time
the game was not within five points in the last
five minutes, that's impressive. Portland played well at times, the
Clippers were just too talented out there when they had
to be. They go on to win one fourteen to
one oh seven. Next game coming up on Tuesday, Portland

(05:54):
going up to NorCal. They're taking on the Golden State Warriors,
who they have won seven straight games against. But you
can't take this team lightly. This is gonna be a
tough matchup. Frum Chase Center. Tip off at eight pm.
Pregame show starting at seven Carlo Jimenez, great call as always,
We'll talk to you on Tuesday, my friend Adam.

Speaker 3 (06:14):
I cannot wait to talk to you on Tuesday, seven
o'clock pregame, Wow Late Night with Adam.

Speaker 2 (06:20):
Let's go. Clippers are two to one on the young season.
They are undefeated here at Into It Home they win
one fourteen to one oh seven over the Blazers. More
postgame coming up next. I'm at a Moslins and you're
listening to the Los Angeles Clippers Audio Network.

Speaker 1 (06:33):
Let's get back at it.

Speaker 4 (06:36):
This is LA Clippers basketball right here on the LA
Clippers Audio Network.

Speaker 2 (06:42):
Welcome back in Clipper Nation. I'm out a Moslin. Coming up,
we'll get through your full game recap. We'll hear from
Coach Lou and the players. Clippers improved to two and
one here. They do so thanks to some hot shooting
fifty five percent from the floor. Imagine if they didn't
have twenty four turn leading to thirty points in this ballgame.

(07:02):
They also went twelve of thirty one from the outside,
that's thirty nine percent. And the Portland Trail Blazers while
having twenty nine fast break points off of those Clippers turnovers,
mostly they only shot thirty seven percent from the field
eleven of forty one from the outside. When this Clippers
team was able to get in the half court, they
did damage. When the Portland Trail Blazers were able to

(07:23):
get out and run, they did damage against the Clippers.
This is something we know. The Clippers are an older team,
Portland Trail Blazers, a lot of athleticism, a lot of
youth on this squad, and still missing Scoot Henderson right now.
This Clippers team was led by Kawhi Leonard thirty points,
eleven of twenty one shooting. That twenty one number is
what I like to see, Kawhi getting up twenty one

(07:44):
shots in the ballgame, four of six from the outside.
Ivitza Zubas had twenty one on nine of fourteen shooting,
eight boards, three assists. James Harden with twenty and an
under the radar thirteen assists in this ballgame. James Harden
was the only problem was he did have seven turnovers.
There were some sloppy ones. Six of twelve from the field,

(08:05):
two of seven from the outside. Off the bench, John
Collins was sixteen on seven of eight shooting. This is
the player that everybody wanted on this team for years
now they finally got him, reaping the benefits and he
helped close out this ballgame for the Clippers. I don't
know if they win it without his physicality athleticism. That
three pointer he hit in the near side corner of

(08:26):
the fourth quarter was huge. The first three shots the
Clippers hit of the fourth quarter were all three pointers,
two from CP three, one from John Collins, Chris Paul
making an impact there, but that second one made by
CP three was after a miss from him offensive rebound
John Collins. CP three relocated from the top of the
key to the right wing, knocked the three pointer down.

(08:49):
Clippers led by as many as eleven in the ballgame,
but that second quarter would haunt them as they had
eight of their twenty four turnovers there and they were
down by five and a half. More on that and
some of the things we can learn from in this
ballgame is the Clippers win one fourteen to one oh
seven over the Portland Trail Blazers. Better to learn after

(09:11):
victories like this than have to learn always through failure.
I'm Adam Moslin. A more postgame coming up next right
here on the Los Angeles Clippers Audio Network.

Speaker 1 (09:22):
We're back to more LA Clippers basketball.

Speaker 2 (09:25):
Take us with you on the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 1 (09:27):
Right here on the LA Clippers Audio Network.

Speaker 2 (09:32):
Good by five and a half to the Blazers. The
Clippers come through and win one fourteen to one oh
seven here at into a Dome where they are undefeated
on this young season, two and oh two and one overall.
Welcome back in. I'm at a Moslin live from into
a Dome, and it is good to be back here.
Clipper Nation coming up on a five to seventy LA Sports.
We'll have Clippers Talk for you if you want to
call in get in early. Eight sixty six, nine, eight seven, two,

(09:56):
five seventy is the phone number. So the Clipper were
down by five, even though they took an eleven point
lead into that second quarter. And this is something we're
gonna talk about a lot postgame on Clippers Talk. We'll
take your calls on it. But there was a fourteen
to zero run at one point by the Portland Trailblazers
in that second quarter in the span of two minutes

(10:17):
and five seconds. That's how quickly this game flipped around
on the Clippers, and most of it was all self
inflicted turnover after turnover, leading to twenty four in the
ballgame total for the Clippers to thirty points for the
Portland Trailblazers, who only shot thirty seven percent from the field.
When the Clippers were in their half court set, when
they were showing their half court defense, they were great,

(10:40):
they were stellar, but all those transition buckets due to
the Clippers and live ball turnovers far too many in
this ballgame. But they survived thanks to thirty from Kawhi Leonard,
twenty one from Viza Zubats twenty to thirteen on those
seven turnovers from James Harden, sixteen off the bench from
John Collin. Chris Dunn also starting the second half defensively

(11:03):
in place of Bogie, I think helped set that tone.
He finished with nine points as well. This Clippers team
out on the road Tuesday night, and I mean in
the late night hour because that game's tipping off against
the Golden State Warriors at eight from Chase Center. We'll
have a pregame show back here at seven. Outside of
Los Angeles. We are leaving you until then. In LA.

(11:23):
Do not go anywhere. We got Clippers Talk next.

Speaker 1 (11:27):
Welcome in the Clippers Talk, the official postgame show of
the Clippers on the LA Clippers Audio Networkload up the
phones and make your feelings. No now your host for
Clippers Talk. It's adam Ousland.

Speaker 2 (11:45):
Slippers are victorious once again. Here it into its own
with a final of one fourteen to one oh seven
over the Portland Trail Blazers. Welcome into Clippers Talk. I'm
at a Moslin. Clippers improved to two to one on
the season. They're out on the road Tuesday night up
in NorCal taking on the Golden State Warriors from Chase Center.
If you want to get on tonight, eight six six
nine eighty seven two five seventy eight sixty six nine

(12:06):
eight seven two five seventy is the phone number. I
want to talk about the start of this ball game,
before we hear from coach lou before we hear from
the players. Remember no Bradley beal out with the back
endsury day today. I wouldn't be shocked if he plays
Tuesday night. Bogie got the start. Bogie didn't play in

(12:28):
the first two games, and he looked like it. He
looked rusty and quite frankly, you can make the argument
I guess he hasn't looked right since the playoff series
against Denver. Now, he was dealing with some stuff. He
was banged up, some injuries. I think it took him
a month to get right after the season. But Bogee

(12:49):
is pressing right now. He played twenty four minutes, went
oh four, zero points, five boards, and assists five turnovers.
Turnovers will be a theme here, but he got beat
on a back door cut by Drew Holiday early in
the ballgame that you can just see. He just was
not ready, but the Clippers were. They were pushing the ball,

(13:10):
moving it well. Kawhi was very active early on. You
could see he had that pop out there both ends
of the floor, going for rebounds, getting active. And this
Clippers ball club held Portland I think four minutes and
five seconds to be exact, without a field goal at
the end of the first quarter. They looked dominant defensively,

(13:36):
and they were overall when they were taking care of
the basketball, and that's all it takes sometimes eliminate the miscues,
the self inflicted once, especially at inopportune times. Clippers led
by eleven, mostly led by in the ballgame heading into
the second quarter, it was thirty four to twenty three

(14:00):
se quarter. Starting lineup for the Clippers, or just start
the second quarter, I should say the starting lineup was.
The lineup was Kawhi, CP three, Chris Dunn, John Collins,
Brook Lopez and boy were they forcing some really bad
entry passes Kawhi to have eats the Zubots who was
telegraphed then done to Kawhi seven to twenty mark. You

(14:22):
had Harden and CP three out there on the floor
for a second for the first time together I think
asked Clippers outside of the preseason plus Kawhi, Zoo and
Collins didn't matter. Then DJ came in for Collins quickly,
but two men for CP three, and all of a sudden,
the Blazers running an eight oh run, Oh, make it
a ten oh run after a Wesley and one on

(14:43):
a takeaway on Harden, who was just having a lack
of days. A cool mental mistake bringing the basketball into
the front court, I believe, then fouled Wesley who took
it away and got the easy layup Bogie comes in
for Kawhi at the six minute more. The Clippers did
do a good job protecting the rim against Sharp. Shade,

(15:06):
and Sharp finally got a dunk late, but he was
blocked four times before that. Brook Lopez got him twice,
but Tom got him and Zoom out of got him once,
and that first Lopez block was ridiculous. Shade and Sharp
if you didn't know he had. There's this new NBA
stat it's official now. It's called dunk Score. It's on

(15:31):
NBA dot com where they track dunks in a variety
of ways. And last year, thanks to the technology the
Sport for you cameras, we actually could see that the
highest vertical jump last season was by Shaden Sharp in
the league, higher than in fact, he had four of

(15:54):
the top five highest jumps last season, the guy who
had the second highest jump with job of course. So
when you block Shade and Sharp, you're doing something right.
But the Clippers were still doing a lot of things
wrong in that second quarter as Portland when on that
fourteen oh run they were living at the rim getting downhill.
And that fourteen oh run took place after Wesley hit

(16:16):
a few free throws within two minutes and five seconds.
It was brutal, hard to watch, and the Clippers just
seemed to lose focus. Drewor Holiday hit a three pointer
which made it sixty eight to forty six in the
second quarter, and the Clippers go from being up eleven

(16:39):
to down twelve like that, It's a twenty three point turnaround,
And I thought to myself, what just happened. Well, eight
turnovers in the quarter happened twenty four overall, but the
type of turnovers, the variety of them were inexcusable. They
were on the Clippers more so than Portland. I mean,
they had a turnover or DJ who just couldn't even

(17:01):
bring it into the front court against Sharp. Why was
he the one initiated offense there? James Harden was out
there on the court. I know they're trying to save
him having to do everything sometimes, but there was at
one point a twenty three to four run by Portland.
The one thing I was asking for was a Viza

(17:22):
Zubas to get the basketball because Portland started going small
with Donovan klinging off the floor. And you know what
I say all the time, like there is an easier
path to victory, and it's playing through a Viza Zubas.
When you can't get your offense going, when you can't
generate easy buckets, guess who can Big Zoo. They finally

(17:48):
got him involved again. The Clippers went on an Edo run.
We thought they took away the Kawhi three pointer at
the buzzer at the end of the second quarter, so
it was just a five zero run. But Aviza Zubats
had eight points in the second quarter. Felt like you
could add fifteen with the way they were guarding him.

(18:09):
But the Clippers couldn't make the right passes, they were turnovers,
They weren't looking for him enough and they were down
sixty to fifty five at the half. Third quarter done
starts instead of bogie. The Clippers did have a turnover
to start the quarter, but they started to get to

(18:29):
work and it was Kawhi and Aviza Zubas, Kawhi, Leonard
and Big Zoo. In that third quarter. Kawhi had six points,
Aviza Zubots had nine, so they combined for fifteen of
the clippers thirty two points. They were really good. Kawhi,

(18:55):
you know, he had two turnovers as well, but he
had ten boards, and he was being more decisive and
quicker with his movements out there. Kuie a really good
ball game and you could just see he was the
focal point of the offense and that is huge for
this team. So they get it going in the third quarter,

(19:19):
and by the end of that third quarter, the Clippers
are up eighty seven to eighty two. They have reclaimed
the lead. Thank goodness. They started playing much better. They
won the third quarter by ten. They still had turnovers,
and they still won the quarter by ten. In fact,

(19:39):
how many they have in that third quarter alone, six turnovers.
It's not easy to do. Like you're just sitting down
the rake and then walking on it and stepping on
it yourself. Like, I don't know what the problem was.
I give Portland some credit their ball pressure, their defense.
They're not leaving a lot of airspace. A lot of

(20:00):
it was sloppy turnovers from the Clippers. So to start
the fourth you got Kawhi Bogee CP three, Collins in
brook out there, and boy did John Collins have a
great fourth quarter. More on that coming up. But Lopez
had another block on Shaden Sharp CP three hit a

(20:21):
three pointer, then John Collins hit one in the near
side corner. Then John Collins got a board on the
offensive end after Chris Paul missed a straightaway three, got
it back to CP three. He hits another one now
in the right wing. The Clippers first three makes of

(20:43):
the fourth quarter all three pointers. John Collins really was
responsible for two of them. He made one and he
got the assist to CP three. After the hustle to
get that offensive rebound really impressive. The Clippers still returned
the basketball over. They closed the gap to seven at

(21:04):
one hundred to ninety three. Kawhi found Lopez also for
an easy one on an inbounds play. Kawhi Leonard, though,
comes up with eight points in the fourth quarter, as
does John Collins, and after a zoo to, Collins make
for an and one that really got the crowd into

(21:25):
it and got the Clippers back up by eleven at
one oh nine to ninety eight. Portland wasn't going away.
It's one o nine to ninety two and there's an
offensive foul on James Harden. Kawhi was out of the
ballgame at that point. He comes back in at the
three to ten mark and coach Louke challenged it. It
got overturned. Then you got done. Collins, Harden Zoo and

(21:51):
Kawhi out there to close the ballgame, and Kawhi hits
a tough fade away on Sharp and I mean tough
because as everybody was slipping and sliding out there on
the floor. He hit a shot the six minute mark
Kawhi of the fourth quarter before he went out for
bratune for a second where he's like falling to the floor.
I don't know what was happening. I know we're supposed

(22:12):
to make waves, but the amount of perspiration or whatever
was happening on the court tonight was really unusual. Guys
were falling all over the place. I was concerned for
an injury, honestly. And Kawhi took some tough falls in
this ballgame, but look good. So Kawhi hits that bucket
to make it one ten to one o three. The

(22:33):
fade away over Sharp on the left elbow, but Denny
Adbiya gets a bucket. Is one twelve to one oh five.
They're still within striking distance. Kawhi comes right back and
because they don't have a big man in the game,
and he knows it, he turns the corner and gets
a floater over Denny Adbiya, who was their last line
of defense near the rim, one fourteen to one oh five,
and then has a steal on Adbiya on the other end,

(22:54):
just to complete Kawhi takeover. In about a minute and
a half stretch. He was the player of the game
thirty points, ten boards, four assists, doing it on both
ends like a superstar should, but getting up twenty one shots.
Love seeing that. Clippers win one fourteen to one oh seven.

(23:15):
Here it into a home over the Portland trail Blazers.
Quick time out, We'll come back. We'll get your phone calls.
Eight sixty six nine eight seven two five seventy. Eight
sixty six nine eight seven two five seventy is the
phone number. I'm at a Mozland and you're listening to
Clippers stock. You're on a five to seventy LS sports.

Speaker 1 (23:32):
This is the Los Angeles Clippers League Clippers heard exclusively.
I'm the LA Clippers Audio network.

Speaker 2 (23:40):
We got you from our sixteen minutes here Daniel West
back in Burbank, I'm ata Mosland. Clippers had twenty four
turnovers and survived that. That is a rarity. You're gonna
lose most games where you have twenty four turnovers. Let's
hear from Kawhi postgame. At least Daniel, we got that.
Let's do it thirty ten rebounds.

Speaker 5 (24:04):
This is now your twelfth Street win against Portland's. This
is a tough second quarter for you guys. What got
away from you in the second After that strong start
in the first quarter, we turned.

Speaker 6 (24:13):
The ball over in a second corner, came out more
aggressive on the offensive end in a third and pretty
much you got us going.

Speaker 5 (24:22):
Was it just the aggression that you guys were able
to make the adjustment to full levelhead?

Speaker 6 (24:27):
I mean no, they're doing a hell of a job
over there. They m dead players too. So Wesley came
in and changed the game for him, picking out full court.
We just made an adjustment and we took care of
the ball. Play better defense.

Speaker 5 (24:38):
Two straight wins here at home. What have you learned
about your team here in these first three games of
the season.

Speaker 6 (24:45):
We gotta get better. We can't allow these turnovers to
get us out the game. We gotta be able to
get an assignments. They pressure in so a lot.

Speaker 7 (24:54):
To uprove on.

Speaker 2 (24:55):
So Kawhi Leonard putting it best. We gotta get better.
We got to take care of the basketball, clearly. But
when you can win and get away with twenty four turnovers,
it does tell you how talented this team is and
does tell you how good they were defensively when they
could actually set their defense and the Blazers weren't getting
out in transition, and even when they did a few times,
the Clippers recovered on some blocks like a batoombo, a

(25:19):
Nick Batoomb chase down block on Shaden Sharp. That guy's
going through it right now. He had a rough start
to the season, and he was seven of twenty four tonight.
He would eventually get a dunk to go in the
fourth quarter. But the Clippers team at times defended brilliantly
in the half court. They're their own worst enemy when

(25:41):
they're turning the basketball over because it leads the other
teams to attacking their weakness, which is transition defense. They
have to be better in that area. I believe they
will be gotta work out the kinks early in the season.
Different lineups and whatnot. Mark in Huntington Beach. Mark, you're
on Clippers top without a maus and what's up?

Speaker 8 (26:04):
I'm hard the game leaving the traffic now can you
hear me now?

Speaker 2 (26:08):
Thanks Mark?

Speaker 8 (26:09):
Okay, okay, yeah, Leaven the game going down Crenshaw Boulevard.
Two things they took away from this game And I
don't usually bash the referees, but man, we couldn't get
a break tonight. I mean it was so lopsided. I
think at the end of the half they had eighteen
free throws to R five, which kind of tells where
the whistle was blowing. But again, you can beat a

(26:31):
ref It just it was just frustrating to watch them,
you know, not give us a fair shake.

Speaker 2 (26:37):
Mark Mark, Mark, Mark Mark this whole fair shake thing.
I know, Portland took thirty four free throws and the
Clippers took fifteen. Yeah, well, when you turn the ball
over that much and Portland gets up ninety two shots
to the Clippers eighty, that can happen. They also, they
were definitely fouling because they had two at times, because
they were at Portland's mercy and transition. I mean, did

(26:58):
you feel the same way on Friday night when the
Clippers took way more free throws than the Phoenix Suns?
Was were they getting a good whistle?

Speaker 4 (27:06):
Then?

Speaker 5 (27:08):
Well?

Speaker 8 (27:08):
The quote Sean Connery from the Pentagons movie. Thought's different.

Speaker 2 (27:15):
So it's okay, Well, the home team is getting the
free throw advantage, but again, you can't turn the ball
over like that and expect to get a great whistle
because you don't even have as many possessions to draw
fouls when you're turning the ball over.

Speaker 7 (27:30):
That's true.

Speaker 8 (27:31):
And why did we start Bodanovich? It was kind of
you know, he wasn't He didn't take a shot, I
don't think until the fourth quarter, and even then he
missed three or four in a row.

Speaker 2 (27:39):
But Bogey had a play in the first half. Bogey
had to play in the first half, to your point, Mark,
and I appreciate the phone call, and it's a good
point where I could see the wheels turning with his
lack of confidence right now and him overthinking out there.
And it could just be it's his first game of
the season and live bullets out there. It's different. It

(28:01):
ain't the preseason. And Bogey turned down a layup for
a kickout to Niko Batoum in the far side corner.
I think it was, and I just thought to myself,
he ain't right yet. Coach lou was definitely chasing having
Bogie play in the fourth quarter as much as he
did a moment for him where he could gain some confidence,

(28:23):
where he could hit a shot do something. Instead, he
really struggled defensively as well. They're picking on him. He
had an and one calling on him late. But the
reason you play him with Bradley Beale being out is
because they want to keep as most continuity as possible
with style of play, and Bogee does have some similar

(28:44):
traits to Bradley Beal. He can handle the rock, he
can create for himself and for others. I know it's
in theory right now because he's struggling so much and
it just felt like he was forcing everything. But he'll
get there. He'll find his rhythm. This team is deep.
But for everybody saying, oh, start callings and stuff, why

(29:08):
why do they need to do that right now? They're
two and one and if they do pull the rip
chord this quickly, you're gonna lose the locker room probably
unless a guy volunteers to come off the bench. That's
a tough pill to swallow to tell players, Hey, I
know it's only been three games, but uh, your bench.

(29:33):
You have to let things fail sometimes, and they aren't.
They're two and one to show players this is why
I need to do this. We talked about it early
on with La Murray. If you watch the pregame show.
In fact, maybe I'll play his answer coming up with
a little bonus coverage here, like John Collins still close

(29:56):
the game. People are so hung up on starting groups.
When they Clippers actually did get off to a decent start,
they were up fourteen to eleven, they were up eleven
heading into the second quarter. People are so hung up
on who's starting. Sometimes it's like, no, who's finishing. That's
what matters more. There may come a point where John

(30:17):
Collins is in the starting lineup, but I think it
made sense for continuity's sake and for not disrupting the
entire second unit. What you guys aren't thinking about obviously
when you say John Collins should be starting, Well, okay,
what happens with the second unit that we like so
much and the chemistry that they built up. We're just

(30:40):
gonna let that go by the wayside, because you guys
are remembering back in high school basketball or whatever and
thinking about starting and how important that is to you.
It's more important to finish. We'll take a quick time
out we'll come back. Clippers were able to finish off
the Portland Trail Blazers thanks to some Kawhi two way
heroics late from fourteen to one oh seven. They survived

(31:02):
twenty four turnovers, many of them self inflicted tonight, and
they went by seven over the Blazers. They're going up
north to take on the Golden State Warriors next on
Tuesday night. More on that coming up. I'm out of
Moslims and you're listening to Clippers talk here on five
seventy ELA Sports.

fourteen to one. Oh seven over the Portland Trail Blazers.
They're two to one on the season. Next up Tuesday night,

(32:10):
Quickly Collins in this ball game, had a nice step

quick runout to put the Clippers twenty up, twenty seven
to eighteen. He had a put back tip in second quarter.
Collins a runner off the glass, fourth, that big near

(32:30):
side corner three at the nine to thirty mark in
the fourth quarter, and then that big offensive rebound to
CP three for three at the age twenty mark of
the fourth quarter. His athleticism, that pop out there, that
player that has been missing, John Collins. Maybe he is
the missing link. They're obviously much better off with him.

(32:54):
But the zoo to Collins for the and one to
make it one oh nine to ninety eight. Great feed
from Viza Zubox, great finished from John Collins as well,
and then it was Kawhi fade away over sharp floater

before we get out of here. Gene calling from North Carolina. Jane,
you're on Clipper Stock without a Moslem, trying to keep
it to thirty seconds for me here, Gene, what's up?

Speaker 10 (35:38):
Oh Ben, you're gonna put it thirty say, okay, I
got me quick. So basically, I'm gonna say, I'm always
gonna give you cussed by what you do. So I
got two things good and bad. The good is I'm
gonna say, you know, the stars came through when they
need to. James Hawden and Kawhi basically stepped up the beat.
It's not really that bad, but I'm just gonna say

(36:00):
that we had I think we had an advantage with
down low, with the biggs. I would love to see
more post ups more usually advantage we could do like Kawhi.

Speaker 7 (36:15):
Zoo. We could do all our bigs plus Batoom. Everybody
had advantage. But I feel like they feel like the
coach should have went with that more. That's all. That's
all I'm gonna say. But overall a good They pulled
it out, and I think this is a game that
we could have easily lost if we didn't have our
stars to show up like they did.

Speaker 2 (36:36):
But Jean call me on Tuesday. I got a run
that was more than thirty seconds, But I appreciate you,
