Speaker 1 (00:01):
Welcome in the Clippers Talk, the official postgame show of
the Clippers on the LA Clippers Audio Networkload up the
phones and make your feelings knows now your host for
Clippers Talk, It's Adam Osland.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
From whence you came Phoenix As the Clippers shoot them
back into the Sun with a one twenty nine O
one oh two victory, Clippers blow out the Phoenix Suns
in the into a Dome home opener.

Speaker 3 (00:31):
Welcome into Clippers Talk. I'm Adam Oslin. Got you for
about the next twenty five minutes. Here eight seven seven
five two zero eleven fifty. Eight seven seven five two
zero eleven fifty is the phone number. Remember when the
Dodgers are on AM five to seventy LA Sports, we
will be on the Patriot AM eleven fifty. But of
course you can get to me at Clippers Talk on
YouTube as well. That's the bounce back performance we were

(00:55):
looking for with all the doomers and people freaking out
and telling me call wise washed and this team is
old and they're gonna get run off the floor by
young teams because that's what happened against Utah. Well, Phoenix
is young. Did they get run off the floor. Well,
the Suns did not the Clippers, So maybe we should
pump the brakes on long reaching conclusions. Like I said

(01:16):
at the end of last show, by people who were
freaking out and saying the season was over, maybe you
gotta let things set a little bit, play out, just
a little bit here and see what we have with
this team, because even tonight they did not get off
to a good start. They were down by ten early
after the Clippers went up fourteen to eleven. The Suns

(01:38):
went on a twelve oh run, but the Clippers answered
it with an eleven to oh run of their own,
and a lot of that was created by the catalyst
in Chris Dunn, who immediately came in as the Clippers
were struggling defensively with rotations, with being in the right
place at the right time, with helping the Heller and

(02:01):
Doune caused two steals, immediately had a third after the
Clippers turned it over, had to put back layup at
the forty seven second mark of the first quarter. Was
doing a little bit on offense too, but that defense
with him and Brook Lopez changed the game, got the
Clippers pointed in the right direction. Great to see Chris

(02:26):
Dunn playing like that made me think of Patrick Beverly,
who was in the arena tonight and actually helped Kawhi
up at one point. Awesome to see their boys, their friends.
They weren't just teammates, they're close. Remember Pat BEV told
us about slow is pro that quote from Kawhi Leonard.
But he is a tone setter. He is the straw

(02:49):
that stirs the drink on defense. And I don't know
things keep going like this to start off ball games,
and it's only been two games so far, but you
might have to start Chris Dunn because what I used
to say about Patrick Beverly is he's a constant reminder
of how you have to play on the defensive end,
and I said the same thing for Chris Dunn last season.
He got them organized, he showed them what it's going

(03:13):
to take to win. When you see a guy playing
that hard defensively, it inspires everyone. It's infectious. That was
Chris done tonight. That was my player of the game. Hey,
for as good as James Harden was with him knocking
down three straight three pointers and getting heat checks in

(03:35):
in the second quarter and having twenty six points in
the first half for as good as Kawhi was, finishing
with twenty seven, Chris Done to me was the difference maker.
He revealed their identity on the defensive end and why
they were a top three defense last season with his
heart and hustle out there. Awesome to see that performance

(03:57):
from him. Brook Lopez also really stellar defense in his
first stint with Chris Dunn out there. The second unit
came in and got the Clippers back in shape defensively
because I thought they were about to give up another
forty spot in the first quarter. It didn't look good early.
Phoenix was on pace for a forty spot. After the

(04:17):
first quarter. The Clippers led thirty four to thirty three
brief lead, but then the backups with Kawhi, who came
back in late in the first quarter, continue to hum
a little bit. Kawhi then started to feast. Caught Booker
on a spinning fade away tough shot from ten feet
out that was his first made basket jumper on a

(04:40):
baseline fade away at the nine minute mark on Grayson Allen,
Kawhi over Dylan Brooks a fadeaway in the mid post
near side. Kawhi looked like Kawhi tonight looked like last
year's version twenty twenty three to twenty four version. He

(05:01):
was knocking down those baseline jumpers left and right, no
matter the defense being in his face or not, high
degree of difficulty shots, Kawhi is putting them down and
then got a couple of easy dunks and transition. Kawhi
look great. That's why I didn't freak out after last
game when everybody's telling me Kawhi is washed. You can

(05:23):
go see that show. It happened. This is why you
gotta be measured. It's a roller coaster ride. It is
a long journey throughout the regular season. We still have
eighty games left. Clippers showed a better showing and a
more representative showing of who they are as a team tonight,

(05:45):
winning one twenty nine to one oh two over the
Phoenix Suns. So they really clamped down the last three
quarters defensively. And to me, and we'll break here in
a second, to me for them to shoot almost sixty
percent from the field and fifty from three in a
game with this many fouls called and stoppages and just

(06:07):
no rhyme or reason to some of the calls going on,
and they still stayed in rhythm like that, shooting wise,
that might have been the most impressive thing. I'm out
of mazled. This is Clippers talk. We'll take a quick
time out here on the Patriot AM eleven fift.

Speaker 1 (06:24):
This is La Clippers Basketball. The La Clippers Hurt exclusively
on the La Clippers Audio Network.

Speaker 3 (06:32):
So let me get this straight. When the Clippers lose
badly to the Utah Jazz, the sky is falling, We're
never gonna win again. And then when they blow out
our team, it's like, well, that's what they're supposed to do. Like,
I get it, you gotta have a high standard. But
give them some credit as well tonight because the Clippers
responded and for a lot of people that were saying
this team looks old and done and they're not gonna

(06:54):
be able to beat quick, fast, younger teams, well that's
who Phoenix is, and the Clippers just beat him by
twenty seven. They led by as many as thirty two.
Final score Clippers once twenty nine, the Suns one h two.
Chris and Los Angeles, you're on Clipper stop without a
Mouslin's here on the Patriot Ame Love and fifty. What's
up Chris.

Speaker 4 (07:16):
Hello, Adam, it's Clipper Chris. Hi, Chris glad, Yeah, glad
to uh have the Clipper season starting again.

Speaker 3 (07:24):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (07:25):
You know, I didn't get to see uh the opening game,
but I figured out, you know, we got blown out.
It's just one game.

Speaker 3 (07:32):
Yeah, sounds like you have perspective. What did you think
of tonight's game, Chris?

Speaker 4 (07:36):
Oh, I loved it, especially, you know, being that the
World Series started tonight and the Dodgers gave him nine
runs in the six thing figure, you know, what time
to watch the Clippers. You know, that's when that happened.
So and fully, another thing that you know you want
to say is that, you know, I'm really upset about
the news that we got, the NBA news that we

(07:57):
got yesterday.

Speaker 3 (07:57):
All right, Chris, do you have a comment about tonight's
a game? You got one comment about tonight's game.

Speaker 4 (08:05):
I mean, it was great to see all the new faces,
especially seeing Chris pull back.

Speaker 3 (08:10):
Yeah, there we go, there we go.

Speaker 4 (08:12):
And I'm really looking forward to see Bradley beal uh
during the season. I know he's got of made restrictions,
but you know he'll he'll uh, he'll find his way around.

Speaker 3 (08:23):
And I thank you for the phone call, Chris, Yes,
Bradley Beal on a twenty minute restriction he hit that tonight.
That's where it appears to be because he'll only played
twenty minutes against Utah also, but there have been two blowouts.
Bradley Beal is still finding his footing and where he
fits in the offense. But when you can win games
and dominate like this while certain guys still aren't up
to speed, that means you got a talented squad. Jose

(08:46):
in Long Beach, Jose, what's up here on clipperstop without
amuscle Jose? We made it. I'm happy we won today.
Anything specific on tonight's game, yeah, Chris, Paul, and we
got you back out playing with us. I agree, Jose.

(09:06):
He got a standing ovation. CEP three came out at
I have this for you. This to twenty five mark
of the first quarter is when he came out onto
the court. Big ovation for him, rightfully so, and CP
three ended up. You know, the stats weren't huge. He
didn't make a shot in the ball game. He did
have eight assists in twenty minutes, though, and one of

(09:29):
them to Yannick late for a big oop. Well, take
a quick time out Clippers win one twenty nine to
one oh two over the Phoenix Suns from into a Dome.
Clippers won in one on the season, undefeated at the
Dome where they started off last season, losing to the
Suns this year. A little bit of redemption retribution, a beatdown.
I'm at a Maslin. You're listening to Clippers stuck here

(09:52):
on the Patriot ammeleven fifty.

Speaker 1 (09:56):
This is LA Clippers basketball clips hurt exclusively on the
LA Clippers Audio Network.

Speaker 3 (10:05):
Clippers lose big, you're upset. Clippers win big. Some people
are still upset. Well, Bradley Beal only had six points.
Bencham He's done the same? People overreacted Game one and
act like the Clippers were never gonna win again and
Kawhi was washed or now finding something else to complain about.
It's amazing, guys, give it time. Other people were hot.

(10:27):
When you have a player that scores twenty six points
in a half like James Harden did, other guys aren't
gonna be eating as much. But that's okay because the
Clippers were blowing them out because of that special performance
from James Harden early, the defense from Chris Dunn, the
steadiness from Kawhi after his first stint scoring wise, especially
having ten of his twenty seven in the third quarter

(10:49):
to keep the pedals to the metal. Clippers win one
twenty nine to one oh two over the Phoenix Suns. Mario,
leave it into a dome, Mario, you're on Clippers stop
without a MUSLM what's up, Mario?

Speaker 1 (11:00):
It was up at him.

Speaker 4 (11:01):
I just wanted to say that Chris Dunn and Derrick
Jones Jr. They really stood out to me tonight and
they really set the tone when the Clippers had a
rough start in the first quarter.

Speaker 3 (11:13):
I agree with you, especially DJ shooting in this one,
I mean, five of five from three, most threes he's
made in two years. That's that's important because if he's
going to be starting out there, he's got to knock
down those shots and those open threes. They're gonna give
him to them. They're gonna teams are going to play
off at him and make him prove it. And tonight
he did.

Speaker 2 (11:35):
Yes, he did.

Speaker 4 (11:36):
They I was I was really surprised that he hit
a ton of threes.

Speaker 3 (11:40):
You know, they would leave him open because because of
James Hardy and Kawhi, like he really took advantage when
when he had his open shots. I'm with through Mario.
Appreciate the phone call, my friend, Glad you were there,
and Mario, how was the atmosphere and game? Wanted into
a dome because I had to do it from back
in Burbank tonight. Tell me that people were pumped. I

(12:00):
saw Adam Devine or Divine out there, workaholics working the
wall and getting everybody up and out of their seats.
What was it like there? Yes, it was amazing, So
I'm a member of the swell, but unfortunately it was
full capacity and why.

Speaker 4 (12:14):
I'm pulled up, so I was still in the wall
still but pretty much on the side of it.

Speaker 2 (12:20):
But still it was amazing and everybody who did a
really good job just cheering on for the Clippers, as.

Speaker 3 (12:27):
Is you, especially for calling in tonight Mario and giving
me that intel. Thank you, my friend.

Speaker 4 (12:32):
All right, thank you, Adam.

Speaker 3 (12:34):
Clippers win one twenty nine to one two and shoot
lights out back at home, Home Suite Home. The dome
is home. They shot almost sixty percent from the field,
fifty five point two percent from three on sixteen of
twenty nine shooting from the outside. We'll close things out
next here on Clippers Talk on the Patriot AMLUM fifty.

Speaker 1 (12:57):
This is the Los Angeles Clippers. Thank you con ten
for a title heard exclusively on the LA Clippers Audio Network.

Speaker 3 (13:05):
Clippers win one twenty nine, So I want to see
it into a dome in the home opener over the
Phoenix Suns. That felt better, much better than what happened
on Wednesday. The Clippers, they still got work to do.
Portland's coming in on Sunday. I want to see them
improve to two and one, but that's the type of
performance we were looking for. Probably my favorite part about

(13:28):
it was James Harden got them that big twenty point
lead at the half with his twenty six points. But
in that third quarter, what impressed me was they outscored
Phoenix thirty four to twenty one, opened it up to
a thirty two point lead, and Harden only had four
points in the third. Kawhi had ten, DJ was contributing,

(13:51):
other guys were out there. It wasn't just relying on
one person's or one superstars hot shooting night. Because James
Harden was five seven from three to eight of twelve
from the floor thirty points. He led them, but the
Clippers continued to dominate on offense, and it was defense
leading to easy offense. Chris Dunn came in, Brook Lopez

(14:13):
came in. They got the defense right early on, and
the Clippers really never looked back from the midway point
of the second quarter as they were pouring it on
and they almost had a sixty fifty five ninety shooting
split night as a team, going fifty nine point two
percent from the floor, fifty five point two percent from three,

(14:34):
eighty eight point five percent shooting from the free throw line.
There was balance. It's not always gonna be everybody's night.
Bradley beals just two of four and twenty minutes, that's okay.
Aviza Zubats gotta go in a little bit in the
second quarter three of five, eight points, that's okay. Kawhi
and James Harden combined for fifty seven. You're gonna be

(14:58):
in good shape. But it starts with the defense, and
they got back to that level of physicality that they
needed to after what happened in Utah. Clippers win by
twenty seven over the Suns, add into a Dome. Next
game on Sunday tip off at six A into a
Dome against the Portland Trail Blazers pregame show right back
here at five. Before we get out of here, I
