losing to Miami by one last night in Oklahoma City

I loved the effort, I loved the fight. Didn't feel

Oklahoma City is the best team in the league. Even

It's really impressive because Oklahoma City at him, came into
this game the worst shooting team in the West. They

so you look at this Thunder team coming in at
him and one. They've been struggling in the statistics to

start the year, hadn't been struggling winning games, but then
they got healthier and they shot it better than they
ever have. Then that's just gonna be a tough place
to win games for the Clipper team.

A lot of things too that were positives in the
first half. I mean, you think about the assists numbers,
the field goals Harden had twenty two in the opening half,
kind of ran out of the second half. Big second
quarter from John Collins, who had eleven points. Both Donovch
and Lopez both got going, and I thought that was huge.
But for the Clippers, they played against the fastest team

in the NBA last night, which you had mentioned. They
were pretty tired at the end of that game, and
then have to play the vast team in basketball, no doubt,
at least earlier in this season, are the only undefeated
team left on the second out of back to back
when they hit all their shots and got healthy, It's
gonna be an uphill battle every single time, and it

was tonight.

Yeah, It's just too much to ask a lot of
guys playing outside of themselves being forced to create individually,
and that led to a lot of turnovers after that
first quarter where the Clippers did get off to a
great start, leading by ten at thirty three to twenty three,
a lot of that thanks to seventeen points in the
first quarter from James Harden, but the zero turnovers in
the first quarter, but then eight in the second, and

they continued to turn the basketball over with nineteen total
in the ballgame, leading to the thirty four points for
the OKC thunder who were going to make you pay
every time. They had twenty eight fast break points to
just six for the Clippers in this game, and they
also outscored them fifty to thirty in points in the
paint well for the most part. I think this Clippers

team was maximizing their talent and who they had available
tonight in the first half of this ball game. Early
in the third quarter, something that did disappoint me. I
don't say this very often, but they were feeding of
eats Zubots and he wasn't able to capitalize and just
looked like he as this season has started off slowly
for him, has gotten a little bit frustrated out there,

got into it with the officials, got into it with
OKC players, did get a couple of fouls actually called
for in his favor in that third quarter, but if
Visa Zubats never got it going, and I always felt
like they needed one more guy to aid James Harden
to really have a chance in this ballgame.

Yeah, and Big Zoo was facing that tough test of
home grin An Hartenstein being out there, right, so he
had two seven footers and really good defenders trying to
stop him. But you're right, Aim, there were a couple
of plays where it felt like maybe could have got

little cleaner and maybe it cuts away or at the
time adds to the Clipper lead. They were looking for

overall though, for this Clipper team, impressed with the way
they were able to fight in that first half. And
I think for Big Zoo Adam, he'll bounce back. This
is somebody the Clippers have not had to worry about
his entire tenure. I don't imagine that changes after these
first seven games. I think for the Clippers though, at
him and you talked about this earlier today, it's time
to have that sense of urgency, right, Like, seven games in,

you haven't been totally healthy. It's a Western Conference where
three games were the separator from the play in or
hosting a playoffs in last season standing, so every single
one matters. And yes it's okay see on the second
hand of back to back, but they got to get
both against Phoenix.

Yeah, I agree with you. Thursday night it's a home
and home. They go to Phoenix on Thursday. They're back
here taking on the Suns on Saturday. These are crucial
and maybe they can return the favor after what happened
last season, the Sun sweeping them four games to none
and the Pac DIV matchups. The Clippers already got won
so far this season, but you have to handle teams

that are expected to be near the bottom of the
Western Conference this season and handle your business there, because well,
the schedule is unforgiving. The Western Conference is so difficult.
It is an absolute blood bath, and the Clippers being
three and four in their first seven games is not
something I saw it coming. I'm hoping they can get healthy,

that Kawhi Leonard is available on Thursday, that Bradley Beal
is available to return to Phoenix because tip off is

dropped at three and four on this young season. Next
game coming up on Thursday in Phoenix. Clippers ended up
shooting forty one percent from the field, okay see fifty
two percent. Remember the first quarter was spectacular for the
Clippers on both ends. You know, while they were only

shooting forty four percent from the field, they were six
to twelve from the outside. Oksee. Started four to eleven
from three. They were shooting thirty three percent in the
first quarter. They go from that to ending up at
fifty two percent in the ball game in eighteen of
thirty eight from three. That's forty eight percent. This was
the worst shooting three point team their first six games
in the Oklahoma City Thunder in the league in the

West before they got the Pelicans and now the Clippers tonight,
and they're gonna end up top five and three point
percentage by the end of this season. I'm pretty sure
about that. It's still early, and they just destroyed the
Clippers with an onslaught and a wave of three pointers

a leader. That's how you take control of the ballgame.
And while James Harden had seventeen points on the first quarter,
he ended up with just eight the rest of the game,
twenty five points, seven of seventeen to five of nine
from the outside. He was your leading scorer for the Clippers.
Dereck Jones Junior has sixteen. He's been playing really well.
One of the few bright spots right now for this
Clippers team is dj or DJJ three three pointers, his

effort defensively, couple offensive rebounds. He's out there battling. Same
with Chris Dunn, Nico with Toomb got the start as well.
It was James Harden, Dunn, Nico, dj Avitza Zubats and
defensively they were swarming. They were fantastic to start the

ballgame and it worked. It was a good starting lineup
from coach Lou Unfortunately Okay seeing that talent eventually figured
it out start to pull away late in the third

and I can't stop thinking about last night's ball game.
Why because if we knew this one was gonna be
tough to get with Kawhi and Beal without Kawhi and Beal,

the Thunder or undefeated. They're eight no now, so you
gotta get last night's game. They didn't because of turnovers,
and tonight turnovers were a getting an issue. But I'm
not gonna be as critical because they were missing a
lot of talent, including their best player in Kawhi, but

also Bradley Beale in his twenty minutes. And now you're
asking the Clippers to overcome that and rise up and
beat undefeated, defending champion Thunder team that can't lose, and
weren't losing even when they weren't hitting shots from the outside.
They had the lowest three point percentage of the Western

Conference the first six games and now the last two
against the Pelicans and tonight against the Clippers. They get
hot again from three. They went eighteen to thirty eight
and put the Clippers away in this game. Getting hot
from three, I mean that third quarter flurry towards the

end of it, and just the waves of talent that
come at you with this OKC Thunder team, even without
j Dubb, it's so impressive. They got youth, athleticism, switchability, defensively,
they got everything you need in today's league. I guess
that's why they're the champs. They also got the MVP

Regular Season Finals MVP it was and Andrew Wiggins Aaron
Wiggins excuse me no relation three pointer at the three
thirty four mark that put them up by three after
the Clippers had a one point lead at the half,

when they led by as many as thirteen in the
first half. We can even go back to the first
quarter and how good the Clippers started this game off.
They were up sixteen to four. Then they were back
to back three's from Sga and Wallace, a couple of
easy ones in transition from the Thunder. But then Bogie,
DJ Harden, Collins Zubats come in at the five minute mark.
That's the lineup. They made another run. But the one

thing I didn't like is they were up by thirteen
and Isaiah Joe hit a three pointer to end the
first As the double came to SGA, he found his
guy wide open, knocked down a three pointer to ten
point lead heading into the second and to me only
up ten, only up thirteen against Okay, see that early
in the ballgame. It's really like the Thunder is still

up by five. That's what it feels like. Because they're
that good and you know they're gonna make a run.
And in the second quarter they did. Because after the
first quarter, where the Clippers had zero turnovers and James
Harden dropped seventeen points, they had eight turnovers in the
second And I should highlight James Harden, who drew a
foul to start, had a four point play, a three

on the right wing, a straightaway three, it's twelve to
two Clippers, a bucket attacking the left side for a layup,
a three off a tap from DJs to him to
make it twenty six fourteen, seventeen first quarter points from
James Harden. Played hard, they played, they didn't always play together.
They still had too many turnovers, but the effort was

there that worried me. That three pointer by Isaiah Joe
to end the first quarter. Now, this Clippers team was
still in a battle in the second quarter, and we're

still battling after Brook Lopez missed a couple of easy ones,
a couple of push shots, had a bad turnover leading
to a runout, and the turnovers started to compound on them.
But Collins came in and was that second wave of
energy from the Clippers side. Okay, you got seventeen points
from James Harden in the first but it's not sustainable.

Who's gonna help him out? Well, John Collins had eleven
of his fifteen points of the half in the second quarter.
Was awesome. Collins started the game with a push shot
to make it thirty one to twenty, and then in
the second quarter running floater off the right side of

tough layup underneath, did have a bad turnover overhead passed
to Lopez which ended with the Mitchell layup on the
other end, but had a three off a nice feed
from Bogie cross Court. Collins definitely did his part in

But I mean they pulled the starters and the backups
and the main key guys midway through the fourth quarter.
Otherwise maybe he gets a thirty if the game is
going a different direction thirty minutes. But the Clippers at
the half are only up by one, and that was

a problem because the Oklahoma City Thunder being that close,
they could smell blood. It's fifty seven to fifty six,
so in that third quarter to start things off. I
had an idea what the Clippers were gonna do. Zubos

was off to a slow start, and the only way
you're winning this ballgame is if Big Zoo starts getting involved.
He was two of five with five points at the
half and five boards. They were swarming him. They either
had multiple smalls, they had Isaiah Hartenstein, they had Chet Holmgren.
They're good against the East zoobots. They show multiple bodies.

But he had a hook shot over Isaiah Hartenstein to
start that third quarter. And more on Big Zoo's performance
or like thereop tonight after we paused ten seconds for

this could be a battle. That's what they need. Take
advantage of this. But then it beats the Zubats. They're
trying to get him the basketball, and I complain all

the time when they don't feed Big Zoo. Well, I
gotta be fair and balanced and criticize him when they
do and he doesn't deliver. And that's what happened in
this third quarter. He got blocked going up for a
dunk with Shay and some smalls on him. He had
a turnover as he kind of went into the body

of Isaiah Hartenstein trying to move him. He didn't play
with a necessary force out there. He wasn't aggressive enough,
he wasn't going up strong, he was holding the ball
too low, and he was getting flustered and frustrated with
the officials. At one point, he did get back to

back calls in his favor underneath the basket that maybe
he campaign for and earned, but Avisa Zubas didn't give
him nearly enough three of eight, seven points, seven rebounds.
If you had told me that hanging into the ball game, yeah,
I could see them losing by nineteen or worse, much

worse actually, But James Harden and Collins were good enough
in the first half. The third quarter was Zubos's opportunity.
Then he came up some All he did, they tried,
they tried to run offense through him. I know it's
okay see and they give you a lot of different
looks in the low post, but Zoo, regardless of that,

has to play with more force out there. Has to.
So it's a rare night where I got a criticize
Big Zoo, not the supporting cast, not the coaching staff,
not anybody else for not getting him involved. They tried,
and for those saying Zoo's off to this little start

this season, this to me was by far the worst
game from him because you knew he'd be more of
a focal point and he didn't show up the way
they need him to. Seven points, seven boards, three of
eight from the field. A lot of turnovers came from
the Clippers just trying to get to Zoo. Some of

those turnovers were definitely on him. But towards the end
of that third quarter, Okay, we had a plan, we
couldn't execute it. Zoo isn't playing to his size tonight.
He's not being Big Zoo out there for whatever reason.

Now what do we do? Well? DJ tried to bail
him out. He had a couple of three pointers. I
thought he had a great game again. Derek Jones Junior,
five of twelve three or seven from the outside. Sixteen points.
That's more than you could ask from him, and he's
got a great start to the season. But I'm gonna
go back to this number. At the three point thirty

Aaron Wiggins hits that three pointer. What happens from here,

one of the positives he got out of his shooting slump. Boom,

get away from them. Brook Lopez after that has an

John Collins turnover into the third quarter. They were lucky
Mitchell missed one. But now the Clippers are down by
eight in just under three minutes after a tie game,
heading into the fourth quarter, and it's just started to

Mitchell will make home grin baseline jumper, full timeout. Clippers
down one oh one to eighty six. They went on

This is what worried me going into the season, that

you would have too many unknowns of what works because
you have a built an excuse. And I'm not saying
the Clippers are making it, it's real. You have an
excuse of well, Bradley b only on a twenty minute limit,
how can we know for sure what's going on? So
we have to bring in more data and see more.

Some people have seen enough, I know with kliper Nation,
but you guys overreact to everything. Instead, the season was
over after they lost to Utah. Not everyone, but you
know who you are in the chat. They will continue
to be patient with evaluating lineups. I get it. I

don't think anything is definitive when you have this many variables,
but it could also mean, you're bringing in more of

this bad data and maybe things don't change that much.
Maybe some of these lineups just aren't workable. You're not
sure because you have Kawhi out for a game now,

But maybe even if they were both healthy and fine

more of the holistic approach, which is we don't get

There are other people available in the backup point guard
position that can generate some sort offense, something going to

the basket and not getting beat defensively as well. And
again I understand everyone wants to pile on you know, Zubac, fine,
but there's a lot of different things that I see
that are becoming challenging for our team, uh, on that
second unit, and you know, I realized they're still playing
with lineups and I don't want to put it on
one guy, but we definitely are missing that punch. I

felt like last year at this time, you know, again
not to compare, but without Leonard and having Kevin Porter
Junior and a mere coffee Uh blended in with the
other guys that are there, it's much more different.

Like a plus minus like three hundred last year. I
don't I don't know if.

He shot he shot forty percent from three, so he's
gonna open and his minutes.

Chris, Chris, why they consistently lose his minutes.

You know, again, I'm not I'm not in the coaching staff.
I'm just simply saying we need punch off the bench,
and we need something more than Chris Paul going one
to five last night and then again being absolutely a
non factor as our backup point guard. And that we
configure Chris Paul.

Why not? Why not Cam? Why not Cameron Payne? Why
not Cameron Payn who's available and can give you some
minutes and is a left handed jump shot point guard
generating guy. I mean, we've got to mix it up
and and and part of our challenges against these youthful
teams that move the ball really, really well. We struggle
with that second unit was it was indicative in the
in the Golden State game as well. I'm talking about

the elite. I'm talking about in the deeper context of
this season, not one game here or there.

There is no deeper but again, the better, the better teams.

six straight, and then they got it together, like these
things can happen again. Well, I always say, giving up
on a guy who played eighty two games last season
in CP three, and maybe we can pull Chris down

I'm with you, but we got to have a little
bit of a conversation. Let me give me a chance
to reply. I'm not giving up with on Chris Paul
in seven games after he played eighty two games last season.
I know he's older. I saw him in the preseason
up close. He was moving. Well, that's the only thing
that concerns me with older guys. The shots the last
thing to leave. I still have faith that CP three

can help this team. I just think they need more
continuity and they need consistency from their stars and guys
to be available anything else.

the analytics side of when we got rid of Norman Powell. Remember,
Norman Powell was really a John Collins and deal combo
so you know, if Beale's going to struggle, get Bogdanovich
one of them, in combination with with Collins, who's been fabulous,

is something that we should keep an eye on. And
if the others, you know, Zubac can get out of
the funk that he's in, we'll be fine. And I'm
not panicked whatsoever. There's a lot of great signs. Dereck
uh Derek Jones Junior, as I mentioned earlier, has been
playing fabulous both ends of the floor. Chris Dunn's been
fabulous on both ends of the floor, shooting a better percentage.
So there's a lot a lot of positives to your point,
and only being seven games. I know I'm picking the edges,

but just want everyone to keep an eye on that.

scheduled loss, but the Clippers played so well early on
up thirteen in the first quarter, up by one and
a half. You wanted to see a rallying cry, momentum,

stay ready, Clippers, gritty gutty victory when nobody expected it,
like we've seen so many times over the years. But
okayse he's too good. And when they wanted to turn
up the heat, turn on the gas, they did so.
And to the third into the fourth seventeen oh run
game over like that. SGA asked contributed to it, and

then his teammates handled the rest. But his eighteen points
in the third quarter really did the Clippers in. And
the Clippers just didn't have enough answers. So you boys
had an off night. I thought. Look defensively, they were
flying around early on with that sixteen to ford lead
to start. They were so good. Is that sustainable forever
against Oka se No, not against SGA. You can only

hold him down for so long. And then you got
shooters out there like Isaiah Joe, Carson Wallace and chet
Holmgrin is just scratching the surface of his talent. That's
what's scary about. Okay. See they don't have j dubb
Jet is just getting better. They're undefeated. They didn't shoot
well the first six games. They have the last two games,

including tonight, forty seven percent from three against the Clippers,
who shot eighteen to forty three themselves. They shot forty
two percent from the outside. Those threes were keeping them alive.
Good to see brook Lopez wake up from distance after
the last I think he was three for his last

why you don't give up on guys after a few games.

showed you the difference in talent between these two ball clubs.

onslaught from Oklahoma City and the Clippers didn't have answers. Now,
hopefully we have an answer about Kawhi Leonard soon about
his status for Thursday in Phoenix. Suns lost tonight to
the Golden State Warriors. Clippers have a home and home

against the Suns Thursday in Phoenix, Saturday back and into
it home. They've already beat Phoenix once, they got their
first victory against them, but they were also down by
ten early in that game, as they had been prone
to bad starts. Yet tonight they actually got off to
a great start without Kawhi and Bradley Beal. You're up
sixteen to four, and I know it's way too early,
and I wasn't celebrating anything. I'm thinking they're still down

by five. They're going to make their run, and they
made it really without SGA the first one. So ironically
they get off to a good start well, missing two starters,

Clippers team, you know, leading at the half by one.
I loved the effort, I loved the fight. Didn't feel

like they ran out of energy or effort. I should
say they ran out of talent in this ballgame, and
Oklahoma City is the best team in the league. Even
without j.

They're that good and they were able to pour it
on when they needed to.

It's really impressive because Oklahoma City at him, came into
this game the worst shooting team in the West. They
shot forty seven percent for the three point line. They
were still undefeated because that they had missing so many guys.
They get home Grenn and Dort back to day and
so you look at this Thunder team coming in at
him and one. They've been struggling in the statistics to

start the year, hadn't been struggling winning games, but then
they got healthier and they shot it better than they
ever have. Then that's just gonna be a tough place
to win games for the Clipper team.

And I thought there were.
Speaker 3 (01:51):
A lot of things too that were positives in the
first half. I mean, you think about the assists numbers,
the field goals Harden had twenty two in the opening half,
kind of ran out of the second half. Big second
quarter from John Collins, who had eleven points. Both Donovch
and Lopez both got going, and I thought that was huge.
But for the Clippers, they played against the fastest team
(02:11):
in the NBA last night, which you had mentioned. They
were pretty tired at the end of that game, and
then have to play the vast team in basketball, no doubt,
at least earlier in this season, are the only undefeated
team left on the second out of back to back
when they hit all their shots and got healthy, It's
gonna be an uphill battle every single time, and it
(02:32):
was tonight.
Speaker 2 (02:33):
Yeah, It's just too much to ask a lot of
guys playing outside of themselves being forced to create individually,
and that led to a lot of turnovers after that
first quarter where the Clippers did get off to a
great start, leading by ten at thirty three to twenty three,
a lot of that thanks to seventeen points in the
first quarter from James Harden, but the zero turnovers in
the first quarter, but then eight in the second, and
(02:54):
they continued to turn the basketball over with nineteen total
in the ballgame, leading to the thirty four points for
the OKC thunder who were going to make you pay
every time. They had twenty eight fast break points to
just six for the Clippers in this game, and they
also outscored them fifty to thirty in points in the
paint well for the most part. I think this Clippers
(03:14):
team was maximizing their talent and who they had available
tonight in the first half of this ball game. Early
in the third quarter, something that did disappoint me. I
don't say this very often, but they were feeding of
eats Zubots and he wasn't able to capitalize and just
looked like he as this season has started off slowly
for him, has gotten a little bit frustrated out there,
(03:35):
got into it with the officials, got into it with
OKC players, did get a couple of fouls actually called
for in his favor in that third quarter, but if
Visa Zubats never got it going, and I always felt
like they needed one more guy to aid James Harden
to really have a chance in this ballgame.

Yeah, and Big Zoo was facing that tough test of
home grin An Hartenstein being out there, right, so he
had two seven footers and really good defenders trying to
stop him. But you're right, Aim, there were a couple
of plays where it felt like maybe could have got
a shot off, a pass off, caught the ball a
little cleaner and maybe it cuts away or at the
time adds to the Clipper lead. They were looking for
(04:11):
overall though, for this Clipper team, impressed with the way
they were able to fight in that first half. And
I think for Big Zoo Adam, he'll bounce back. This
is somebody the Clippers have not had to worry about
his entire tenure. I don't imagine that changes after these
first seven games. I think for the Clippers though, at
him and you talked about this earlier today, it's time
to have that sense of urgency, right, Like, seven games in,
(04:33):
you haven't been totally healthy. It's a Western Conference where
three games were the separator from the play in or
hosting a playoffs in last season standing, so every single
one matters. And yes it's okay see on the second
hand of back to back, but they got to get
both against Phoenix.

Yeah, I agree with you. Thursday night it's a home
and home. They go to Phoenix on Thursday. They're back
here taking on the Suns on Saturday. These are crucial
and maybe they can return the favor after what happened
last season, the Sun sweeping them four games to none
and the Pac DIV matchups. The Clippers already got won
so far this season, but you have to handle teams
(05:11):
that are expected to be near the bottom of the
Western Conference this season and handle your business there, because well,
the schedule is unforgiving. The Western Conference is so difficult.
It is an absolute blood bath, and the Clippers being
three and four in their first seven games is not
something I saw it coming. I'm hoping they can get healthy,

that Kawhi Leonard is available on Thursday, that Bradley Beal
is available to return to Phoenix because tip off is
at six and they need both guys. We'll be back

Clippers on both ends. You know, while they were only

shooting forty four percent from the field, they were six
to twelve from the outside. Oksee. Started four to eleven
from three. They were shooting thirty three percent in the
first quarter. They go from that to ending up at
fifty two percent in the ball game in eighteen of
thirty eight from three. That's forty eight percent. This was
the worst shooting three point team their first six games
in the Oklahoma City Thunder in the league in the

West before they got the Pelicans and now the Clippers tonight,
and they're gonna end up top five and three point
percentage by the end of this season. I'm pretty sure
about that. It's still early, and they just destroyed the
Clippers with an onslaught and a wave of three pointers
in the last eighteen to twenty minutes of this ballgame

forty eight percent from three almost Clippers nineteen turnovers tonight
after twenty one last night, forty turnovers the last two games,
leading to what is that seventy two points thirty four
plus thirty seven seventy one. It's difficult to overcome this

Clippers team right now without Kauhi, without Beal. We knew
it was going to be a tough, uphill battle. But
when you're during the basketball over like that, after having
zero turnovers in the first quarter to eight in the second,
and they still held on to a one point lead
at the half, but you could feel it, okay, so

he wasn't going anywhere. Sga still finished with thirty on
nine to fourteen shooting after a slow start. As I
want to say, in that third quarter alone, he had
eighteen points. Let me check on that. I don't know
if he had to come back into the ballgame in
the fourth quarter. I don't believe he did. Yes, it
was an eighteen point third quarter or for SGA. That's

a leader. That's how you take control of the ballgame.
And while James Harden had seventeen points on the first quarter,
he ended up with just eight the rest of the game,
twenty five points, seven of seventeen to five of nine
from the outside. He was your leading scorer for the Clippers.
Dereck Jones Junior has sixteen. He's been playing really well.
One of the few bright spots right now for this
Clippers team is dj or DJJ three three pointers, his

effort defensively, couple offensive rebounds. He's out there battling. Same
with Chris Dunn, Nico with Toomb got the start as well.
It was James Harden, Dunn, Nico, dj Avitza Zubats and
defensively they were swarming. They were fantastic to start the

ballgame and it worked. It was a good starting lineup
from coach Lou Unfortunately Okay seeing that talent eventually figured
it out start to pull away late in the third
quarter into the fourth, winning the third quarter thirty eight
to twenty nine, the fourth quarter thirty two to twenty one,
leading to a one to twenty six to one oh

and I can't stop thinking about last night's ball game.
Why because if we knew this one was gonna be
tough to get with Kawhi and Beal without Kawhi and Beal,

the Thunder or undefeated. They're eight no now, so you
gotta get last night's game. They didn't because of turnovers,
and tonight turnovers were a getting an issue. But I'm
not gonna be as critical because they were missing a
lot of talent, including their best player in Kawhi, but

also Bradley Beale in his twenty minutes. And now you're
asking the Clippers to overcome that and rise up and
beat undefeated, defending champion Thunder team that can't lose, and
weren't losing even when they weren't hitting shots from the outside.
They had the lowest three point percentage of the Western

Conference the first six games and now the last two
against the Pelicans and tonight against the Clippers. They get
hot again from three. They went eighteen to thirty eight
and put the Clippers away in this game. Getting hot
from three, I mean that third quarter flurry towards the
(13:50):
end of it, and just the waves of talent that
come at you with this OKC Thunder team, even without
j Dubb, it's so impressive. They got youth, athleticism, switchability, defensively,
they got everything you need in today's league. I guess
that's why they're the champs. They also got the MVP

Regular Season Finals MVP it was and Andrew Wiggins Aaron
Wiggins excuse me no relation three pointer at the three
thirty four mark that put them up by three after
the Clippers had a one point lead at the half,
(14:35):
when they led by as many as thirteen in the
first half. We can even go back to the first
quarter and how good the Clippers started this game off.
They were up sixteen to four. Then they were back
to back three's from Sga and Wallace, a couple of
easy ones in transition from the Thunder. But then Bogie,
DJ Harden, Collins Zubats come in at the five minute mark.
That's the lineup. They made another run. But the one
(14:59):
thing I didn't like is they were up by thirteen
and Isaiah Joe hit a three pointer to end the
first As the double came to SGA, he found his
guy wide open, knocked down a three pointer to ten
point lead heading into the second and to me only
up ten, only up thirteen against Okay, see that early
in the ballgame. It's really like the Thunder is still
(15:22):
up by five. That's what it feels like. Because they're
that good and you know they're gonna make a run.
And in the second quarter they did. Because after the
first quarter, where the Clippers had zero turnovers and James
Harden dropped seventeen points, they had eight turnovers in the
second And I should highlight James Harden, who drew a
foul to start, had a four point play, a three

on the right wing, a straightaway three, it's twelve to
two Clippers, a bucket attacking the left side for a layup,
a three off a tap from DJs to him to
make it twenty six fourteen, seventeen first quarter points from
James Harden. Played hard, they played, they didn't always play together.
They still had too many turnovers, but the effort was
(16:05):
there that worried me. That three pointer by Isaiah Joe
to end the first quarter. Now, this Clippers team was
still in a battle in the second quarter, and we're
(16:28):
still battling after Brook Lopez missed a couple of easy ones,
a couple of push shots, had a bad turnover leading
to a runout, and the turnovers started to compound on them.
But Collins came in and was that second wave of
energy from the Clippers side. Okay, you got seventeen points
from James Harden in the first but it's not sustainable.

Who's gonna help him out? Well, John Collins had eleven
of his fifteen points of the half in the second quarter.
Was awesome. Collins started the game with a push shot
to make it thirty one to twenty, and then in
the second quarter running floater off the right side of
the glass off a nice feed from James Harden, a layup,

tough layup underneath, did have a bad turnover overhead passed
to Lopez which ended with the Mitchell layup on the
other end, but had a three off a nice feed
from Bogie cross Court. Collins definitely did his part in
the game, seventeen points, five of eight shooting twenty five minutes.

But I mean they pulled the starters and the backups
and the main key guys midway through the fourth quarter.
Otherwise maybe he gets a thirty if the game is
going a different direction thirty minutes. But the Clippers at
the half are only up by one, and that was

a problem because the Oklahoma City Thunder being that close,
they could smell blood. It's fifty seven to fifty six,
so in that third quarter to start things off. I
had an idea what the Clippers were gonna do. Zubos

was off to a slow start, and the only way
you're winning this ballgame is if Big Zoo starts getting involved.
He was two of five with five points at the
half and five boards. They were swarming him. They either
had multiple smalls, they had Isaiah Hartenstein, they had Chet Holmgren.
They're good against the East zoobots. They show multiple bodies.

But he had a hook shot over Isaiah Hartenstein to
start that third quarter. And more on Big Zoo's performance
or like thereop tonight after we paused ten seconds for

James Harden on a three pointer, and I'm thinking, Okay,
this could be a battle. That's what they need. Take
advantage of this. But then it beats the Zubats. They're
trying to get him the basketball, and I complain all

the time when they don't feed Big Zoo. Well, I
gotta be fair and balanced and criticize him when they
do and he doesn't deliver. And that's what happened in
this third quarter. He got blocked going up for a
dunk with Shay and some smalls on him. He had
a turnover as he kind of went into the body

of Isaiah Hartenstein trying to move him. He didn't play
with a necessary force out there. He wasn't aggressive enough,
he wasn't going up strong, he was holding the ball
too low, and he was getting flustered and frustrated with
the officials. At one point, he did get back to
(20:09):
back calls in his favor underneath the basket that maybe
he campaign for and earned, but Avisa Zubas didn't give
him nearly enough three of eight, seven points, seven rebounds.
If you had told me that hanging into the ball game, yeah,
I could see them losing by nineteen or worse, much
(20:30):
worse actually, But James Harden and Collins were good enough
in the first half. The third quarter was Zubos's opportunity.
Then he came up some All he did, they tried,
they tried to run offense through him. I know it's
okay see and they give you a lot of different
looks in the low post, but Zoo, regardless of that,
(20:53):
has to play with more force out there. Has to.
So it's a rare night where I got a criticize
Big Zoo, not the supporting cast, not the coaching staff,
not anybody else for not getting him involved. They tried,
and for those saying Zoo's off to this little start
(21:14):
this season, this to me was by far the worst
game from him because you knew he'd be more of
a focal point and he didn't show up the way
they need him to. Seven points, seven boards, three of
eight from the field. A lot of turnovers came from
the Clippers just trying to get to Zoo. Some of
(21:37):
those turnovers were definitely on him. But towards the end
of that third quarter, Okay, we had a plan, we
couldn't execute it. Zoo isn't playing to his size tonight.
He's not being Big Zoo out there for whatever reason.
(22:01):
Now what do we do? Well? DJ tried to bail
him out. He had a couple of three pointers. I
thought he had a great game again. Derek Jones Junior,
five of twelve three or seven from the outside. Sixteen points.
That's more than you could ask from him, and he's
got a great start to the season. But I'm gonna
go back to this number. At the three point thirty

four mark of the third, it's seventy eight all and
Aaron Wiggins hits that three pointer. What happens from here,
So it's eighty one seventy eight thunder. After the Clippers
had been leading throughout the majority of the ballgame, John

Collins gets to the free throw line, hits two, eighty
one eighty thunder. Isaiah Joe gets fouled, hits two. They're
up by three. Brook Lopez missed a three pointer, I believe,
and Isaiah Joe hits one on the other end. Clippers
down six. Biggest le the ballgame for Okay. See at

eighty six to eighty now brook answered and this was
one of the positives he got out of his shooting slump. Boom,
three pointer, Clippers within three. Sga quick bucket Lopez another
three two point ball game. Here's where things start to
get away from them. Brook Lopez after that has an
offensive foul. Caruso gets them. Isaiah Joe another three Clippers

down by five. SGA three pointer, Clippers down by eight,
John Collins turnover into the third quarter. They were lucky
Mitchell missed one. But now the Clippers are down by
eight in just under three minutes after a tie game,
heading into the fourth quarter, and it's just started to

avalanche on them. Alex Caruso three pointer to start the fourth.
Mitchell will make home grin baseline jumper, full timeout. Clippers
down one oh one to eighty six. They went on
a seventeen to oh run, extending it from the end
of the third into the fourth until Brook Lopez. The

next shot the Clippers made was at the eight fifty
nine mark and another Lopez three, So they went from
let's see, how long were they stuck at eighty six? Yeah,
they went about four minutes scoreless. Game got away from

him just like that. It's that simple for okaysee to
pull away because they're so talented and SGA at the
end of the third, I think he was telling his guys,
we're gonna finish this now. He rallied the troops. There
was a level of professionalism and championship pedigree there where

they said done playing with our food, We're the much
more talented team. They don't even have Kawhiir Bradley Beal.
We're gonna put the game away, and they did, and
it was over in four minutes. After the Clippers had
a tie game. It's it's just incredible tie game at

the third quarter, Clippers lose by nineteen onece twenty six

This is what worried me going into the season, that

you would have too many unknowns of what works because
you have a built an excuse. And I'm not saying
the Clippers are making it, it's real. You have an
excuse of well, Bradley b only on a twenty minute limit,
how can we know for sure what's going on? So
we have to bring in more data and see more.

Some people have seen enough, I know with kliper Nation,
but you guys overreact to everything. Instead, the season was
over after they lost to Utah. Not everyone, but you
know who you are in the chat. They will continue
to be patient with evaluating lineups. I get it. I

don't think anything is definitive when you have this many variables,
but it could also mean, you're bringing in more of

this bad data and maybe things don't change that much.
Maybe some of these lineups just aren't workable. You're not
sure because you have Kawhi out for a game now,
and Bradley Beal's on a minister restriction. He's missed three games.
But maybe even if they were both healthy and fine
for every game, it's possible it still wouldn't work. Clippers

to look at it other than game by game more
more of the holistic approach, which is we don't get
any action in that second unit. Chris Paul is absolutely atrocious,
and I'm no disrespect to him. He looks his age.
There are other people available in the backup point guard
position that can generate some sort offense, something going to

the basket and not getting beat defensively as well. And
again I understand everyone wants to pile on you know, Zubac, fine,
but there's a lot of different things that I see
that are becoming challenging for our team, uh, on that
second unit, and you know, I realized they're still playing
with lineups and I don't want to put it on
one guy, but we definitely are missing that punch. I
(32:35):
felt like last year at this time, you know, again
not to compare, but without Leonard and having Kevin Porter
Junior and a mere coffee Uh blended in with the
other guys that are there, it's much more different.

Like a plus minus like three hundred last year. I
don't I don't know if.

He shot he shot forty percent from three, so he's
gonna open and his minutes.

You know, again, I'm not I'm not in the coaching staff.
I'm just simply saying we need punch off the bench,
and we need something more than Chris Paul going one
to five last night and then again being absolutely a
non factor as our backup point guard. And that we
configure Chris Paul.

Who are they replacing Chris Paul?

Why not? Why not Cam? Why not Cameron Payne? Why
not Cameron Payn who's available and can give you some
minutes and is a left handed jump shot point guard
generating guy. I mean, we've got to mix it up
and and and part of our challenges against these youthful
teams that move the ball really, really well. We struggle
with that second unit was it was indicative in the
in the Golden State game as well. I'm talking about

the elite. I'm talking about in the deeper context of
this season, not one game here or there.

Okay, the deeper context of this season. It's seven games.

There is no deeper but again, the better, the better teams.

Games. It's seven games. You remember what happened when James
Harden first came and they lost five in a row,
six straight, and then they got it together, like these
things can happen again. Well, I always say, giving up
on a guy who played eighty two games last season
in CP three, and maybe we can pull Chris down
if he's never gonna stop talking. I appreciate you, Chris,

I'm with you, but we got to have a little
bit of a conversation. Let me give me a chance
to reply. I'm not giving up with on Chris Paul
in seven games after he played eighty two games last season.
I know he's older. I saw him in the preseason
up close. He was moving. Well, that's the only thing
that concerns me with older guys. The shots the last
thing to leave. I still have faith that CP three

can help this team. I just think they need more
continuity and they need consistency from their stars and guys
to be available anything else.

Chris Adam. Yeah, I'm sorry, buddy, and I apologize for
cutting off. I did want to make one minor point
that I do think is important to everybody, and that's
the analytics side of when we got rid of Norman Powell. Remember,
Norman Powell was really a John Collins and deal combo
so you know, if Beale's going to struggle, get Bogdanovich
one of them, in combination with with Collins, who's been fabulous,

is something that we should keep an eye on. And
if the others, you know, Zubac can get out of
the funk that he's in, we'll be fine. And I'm
not panicked whatsoever. There's a lot of great signs. Dereck
uh Derek Jones Junior, as I mentioned earlier, has been
playing fabulous both ends of the floor. Chris Dunn's been
fabulous on both ends of the floor, shooting a better percentage.
So there's a lot a lot of positives to your point,
and only being seven games. I know I'm picking the edges,

but just want everyone to keep an eye on that.

scheduled loss, but the Clippers played so well early on
up thirteen in the first quarter, up by one and
a half. You wanted to see a rallying cry, momentum,

stay ready, Clippers, gritty gutty victory when nobody expected it,
like we've seen so many times over the years. But
okayse he's too good. And when they wanted to turn
up the heat, turn on the gas, they did so.
And to the third into the fourth seventeen oh run
game over like that. SGA asked contributed to it, and

then his teammates handled the rest. But his eighteen points
in the third quarter really did the Clippers in. And
the Clippers just didn't have enough answers. So you boys
had an off night. I thought. Look defensively, they were
flying around early on with that sixteen to ford lead
to start. They were so good. Is that sustainable forever
against Oka se No, not against SGA. You can only

hold him down for so long. And then you got
shooters out there like Isaiah Joe, Carson Wallace and chet
Holmgrin is just scratching the surface of his talent. That's
what's scary about. Okay. See they don't have j dubb
Jet is just getting better. They're undefeated. They didn't shoot
well the first six games. They have the last two games,

including tonight, forty seven percent from three against the Clippers,
who shot eighteen to forty three themselves. They shot forty
two percent from the outside. Those threes were keeping them alive.
Good to see brook Lopez wake up from distance after
the last I think he was three for his last
seventeen from the outside. Goes four to four tonight. That's
why you don't give up on guys after a few games.

You look at body of work, go off of that.
I'm not giving up on CP three either. John Collins
had a nice game his Clippers hive seventeen my player
to watch. But the Clippers didn't have enough for this
talented Oklahoma City group and they fall by nineteen. Quick

And they pulled away when they had to with a
dominating last eighteen to twenty minutes of the ballgame. That
showed you the difference in talent between these two ball clubs.
Clippers ended up losing by nineteen. They led by thirteen early,

led by one at the half, and then just In
onslaught from Oklahoma City and the Clippers didn't have answers. Now,
hopefully we have an answer about Kawhi Leonard soon about
his status for Thursday in Phoenix. Suns lost tonight to
the Golden State Warriors. Clippers have a home and home

against the Suns Thursday in Phoenix, Saturday back and into
it home. They've already beat Phoenix once, they got their
first victory against them, but they were also down by
ten early in that game, as they had been prone
to bad starts. Yet tonight they actually got off to
a great start without Kawhi and Bradley Beal. You're up
sixteen to four, and I know it's way too early,
and I wasn't celebrating anything. I'm thinking they're still down
(40:58):
by five. They're going to make their run, and they
made it really without SGA the first one. So ironically
they get off to a good start well, missing two starters,
but couldn't hold it lose one twenty six one seven Thursday,

tip off at six from Phoenix, pregame show at five.
