the podcast. I mean, iHeartradio and now your host. He makes
everything happen, Adam Mossley. Thebest two words in sports would be game
(00:26):
seven. The best three words wouldbe game seven victory. You're Los Angeles
Clippers win one, twenty six toone to eleven from Staples Center. They
survive in advance to the second roundafter taking down the Dallas Mavericks and Luca
Donchich. They win by fifteen hereat Staples Welcome into Clippers Talk. I'm
(00:49):
Atam Moslin eight seven seven five tozero eleven fifty eight seven seven five two
zero eleven fifty or get to meat follow Adam a on Twitter with you
for about the next hour here fromStaples Center. As guys are still getting
up shots on a day where theClippers we're due, we talked about that
(01:10):
three point shooting, the law ofaverages would finally be in their favor.
It had to be, and itwas here in Game seven, they go
twenty forty three from distance, thatis forty seven percent. After shooting six
percent below their average percentage from threein the first six games of this series,
while watching Dallas hit everything, hittingsix percent above what they shot in
(01:34):
the regular season from three, theClippers finally found their range from three.
They hit twenty of them, andseven of them in Game seven were hit
by Marcus Morris Senior. He wasone for ten in Game six. He's
stepped up. He hit one ofthe biggest shots of this game. It
(01:57):
would also be a three pointer.Reggie Jackson hit two huge threes dagger threes
late in the fourth quarter to keepLuka Doni and the Dallas Mavericks at bay
as they were trying to come back. The Clippers led by fourteen entering the
fourth. They had it down toten at one point. They had it
down to seven at one point aftera Luka dontchitch made three step back ridiculous
(02:23):
shot over Kawhi Leonard Well contested.Doesn't matter. Luca finishes with forty six
but doesn't get the victory. Andwhat did we talk about before Game one
of this series. Let Luca gethis stop, everybody else and they were
able to do that. Chris STAPsPorzingis, while he played better and got
off to a hot start, hadten points by the time the seconds quarter
(02:45):
rolled around, finished with just sixteenO five from three. Tim Hardaway Junior,
who had been a thorn in theClippers side all series long, he
struggled one of nine from three, just eleven points on five of fourteen shooting.
Dorian Finney Smith still went four ofseven from distance with eighteen points,
but couldn't get a couple to fallin that fourth quarter, and after Luca
(03:08):
had twenty nine points in that firsthalf, he would have just seventeen in
the second half. Kawhi Leonard acceptedthe challenge in game six, he asked
for that matchup, and he playedhim well again here tonight today from Staples.
In Game seven, he is thebest two way player in the league.
(03:29):
Kawhi finished with twenty eight points onten to fifteen shooting. It is
the fourth game in this series wherehe hit at least sixty six percent of
his attempts from the field. He'sbeen the best player so far in these
playoffs. You can talk about Lucadon Chiche, but he's not given it
to you. Defensively, like KawhiLeonard has four steals for the claw,
(03:52):
ten boards, one assist, shyof having that triple double, a big
time block on Dorian Finny Smith inthe fourth quarter out of nowhere. It
was like Kawhi Leonard teleported. Hehad one of those steals two on Luca
Dontae in the fourth where he cameout of nowhere because he was everywhere.
He was omnipresent, and the Clippersgot their gift Clipper Nation. You win
(04:17):
one twenty six to one eleven. In Game seven here, your Clippers are
victorious at Staples Center after being downO two with the first two games at
Staples Center. They are just thesixth team ever to come back and win
a series after starting off O two, with both of those games being at
(04:40):
home. The Clippers had to winthree must win games in this series.
Really, Game three you had towin because you couldn't go down two games
and none or three games and nine. Game six you had to win.
Obviously, that was a true mustwin game with them down three games to
two, and then it was winnertake all and Game seven here and the
(05:00):
Clippers stepped up and they had theirbest shooting performance from three of the series.
They got to all the loose ballsin the second half. They crashed
the boards. They had just oneoffensive rebound in the first half, they
had seven in the second half. And while Paul George struggled with the shot
five of fifteen two of eight fromdistance, he went ten of ten from
(05:24):
the free throw line, and thebest shooting free throw team all time.
In the regular season, your LosAngeles Clippers had just over eighty four percent,
would go twenty four of twenty fourfrom the free throw line. Here
in Game seven, Paul George wasten of ten, Kawhi Leonard was seven
of seven. Their strengths all seasonlong finally showed up when they needed them
(05:48):
most. This team is one ofthe best shooting teams in NBA history during
the regular season forty one point onepercent from three, fourth best all time,
but they've been doing it at ahigher volume than those three other teams.
Luke Kennard, who didn't even getinto meaningful minutes in this series until
(06:09):
Game six, he ends up playingfifteen minutes tonight. In Game seven,
goes three of five from three afterhe was one of four without a made
three pointer in Game six. Hehad eleven points was a plus fourteen out
there. What a move by headcoach Tlu And I'm telling you, out
(06:30):
of everybody who deserves credit for this, Clippers come back down two games and
none, it's your head coach,it's this coaching staff. To Ron Lu
never wavered. He believed in theprocess. He believed in everything they did
during the seventy two game regular seasonthat the numbers would come around and that
(06:51):
guys would stay ready and stepped upwin called upon. Like Terrence Man,
like Luke Kennard. Man had thirteenpoints, He hit two three pointers.
All of his scoring came in thefirst half. And while the Clippers exercised
some demons here in a game seven, after what happened against the Denver Nuggets
last season in that second round,Terrence Man who faltered down the stretch in
(07:15):
Game five, I'm sure it washis own horset critic or toughest critic after
not going for that layup at theend of the game and passing it back
to Nicholas Batoum. The young secondyear player showed no fear in a game
seven, played twenty six minutes, had five boards as well. Hustle plays
defense on Luka Doncich was huge forthem, but Kawhi Leonard whenever they needed
(07:43):
a bucket, someone to stabilize themwhen things got tight, when things got
close, it was Kawhi Leonard makingbig shots. We're having a big two
handed throw down baseline, We're grabbinga board, getting it in those claws
of his. The Clippers just outwilledthe Dallas Mavericks in this hard fought seven
(08:05):
game series. Tip your cap toRick Carlisle and Luca Dontchich in these Mavericks.
They played some spectacular basketball those firstthree games, shooting fifty one percent
from three. For the Clippers tocome back and win this series with the
offensive juggernaut that we saw in Lucadon Chich and the hot shooting from role
players from the Dallas Mavericks is unbelievableand I think it's exactly what they have
(08:31):
needed to get over the hump toface adversity like this and come through and
pull through and fight and get throughthat finish line. It wasn't always easy.
They were down nineteen in Game three. Early on, they could have
folded. This team is just relentless. They have that resolve, that resilient
(08:56):
nature we've talked about all season long, which is why I said early on.
I think it was after the twentytwo point comeback in Atlanta, fueled
by Luca Nard and Arn's Man thatthis team is different. When the going
gets tough, they are at theirbest. And they were in the fourth
quarter when they needed some big shotsto answer Luca dontae ridiculous step back threes
(09:20):
where he shot. I think goinginto game six he was sixty percent on
step back three pointers. Luca DontaCan you imagine that he was one off
the all time record scoring record ingame seventh tonight with forty six. The
Clippers survived it. They had toget to those fifty fifty balls. They
(09:41):
had to get on the boards. It was a bugaboo in the first half.
At the end of that second quarter, they had a chance to go
up double digits. It didn't happenbecause Dorian Finney Smith had multiple offensive rebounds
on them. Dallas had multiple secondchance opportunities that they converted on, and
they made that adjustment in the secondhalf. They got to those boars,
(10:03):
and they had to do it bycommittee because when you're going small and there
were extreme contrasting styles in this seriesfrom really game four on, with Rick
Carlisle electing to go big with Bobieand Chris STAPs in the starting lineup and
Coach Lu going small with Nicholas Batumas his five. It was really a
(10:26):
chess match. It's overused, butit felt like that all series long.
And then whose move was going toget them a victory in Game seven?
And I thought the one thing thatCoach Lu still had in his bag was
his depth and going to Luke Canardin game six and getting him some run
(10:48):
out there and then saying post gamehe'll have more confidence in game seven because
of this. It worked. Hewas spot on. He pushed all the
right buttons the right time you haveto when you're down two games to none,
when you're down three games to two. Coach Lou put on a masterclass
in coaching in this first round series. And there's a lot of people that
(11:11):
are gonna be on the apology tourafter they were down two games and none.
Couple I know more on that maybelater in the show. Clippers win
games seven one twenty six to oneeleven over the Dallas Mavericks. Let's get
to a phone call before we breakhere. I know the lines are liddy.
I shouldn't say that. I'm tooold, Jake Warner, Just like
(11:35):
you know the Bruce arians gift wherehe turns his head to the right all
of a sudden, like did Ijust hear that correctly? Or the score
all freaking out? Yeah? Thatwas Jake Warren when I said that.
All right, Morrison long Beach tostart things off, You're on Clippers top
with Adam Osland after they win ahard fought seven game series that wins seven.
They are victorious here at Staples Centerwith a one twenty six to one
(11:58):
eleven victory over the Dallas Mavericks.Morrison long Beach, I know you were
never concerned. No, Like Itold you Jenner the game the other day
said y'll get needs to calm downa little bit. I just wanted to
say this though. Uh, there'stalking to the people in southern California.
There's a new sheriff in town.There's a new sheriff in town. It's
called the Clippers. Got a lotof deputies out there. Kawhi Leonard,
(12:20):
Paul Georgia de Wi Jackson. Iwanted to say something, you know the
other day, Kawai scores forty sevenpoints and they win. Today Lucas scores
forty seven points and they lose.So what's the difference the role players?
The other guys showed up. Canard, he showed everybody showed up. And
I'm so happy that coach lew playedthe guys. They got us. Hear
your Canards, your patoons, andyour man. And the only time the
(12:43):
coach ever made a mistake the wholeyear was on St. Patrick's Day when
the Clippers wasn't wearing green. Butother than that, he's been villain all
right, Thank you very much,Morris. I appreciate the phone call.
What a victory, What a teamwin to come back in this series the
way they did. For those whodidn't follow this team during the regular season,
(13:05):
this is who they have been. They didn't lose two games in a
row very often. When they hadpoor performances, they bounced back. I'm
thinking of game when they were inthat two game mini series in Memphis against
the Grizzlies, got beat by twentyfive in the first game, came back
around the very next night one bytwenty five. When they lost a twenty
two point lead in a two gamemini series in game one's of the Golden
(13:28):
State Warriors and Steph Curry. Theylost that first game, they came back
the very next game and won. They just battle and as Noah Eagle was
talking about postgame, they're more battletested. They're better off four this series
going to seven games, They're gonnahave all the confidence in the world.
They're gonna have so much to drawupon now moving forward when they hit more
(13:52):
adversity, because it's not gonna stopnow the Utah Jazz of their next opponent
in the second round, let's goto Rex in Los Angeles. Rex,
you're on Clippers, stop with AdamOslin. Hi Rex, Oh, oh,
how you doing? Oh? Thiswas such a great game. Just
like I said the other night, they were gonna win game seven. They
(14:15):
just they to me, they havethey have the best team. You know,
you got two great superstars and KawhiLeonard and Paul George. You have
some stars. And in Jackson andand Batoon and Morris. I think they're
about ten deep. I think TerrenceMan is going to be a star in
(14:37):
the league, and and so isLuke Kennard. Rex. I appreciate the
phone call. You know, alot has been made of Luke Kennard getting
that extension earlier, right before theseason started, which that extension doesn't start
until next season. But there wasa lot of criticism coming down how this
(15:00):
guy getting paid this much money he'snot even playing in this series. But
we said all season long, withall this depth on this Clippers team,
how are they going to find enoughminutes for guys? Well, it just
comes down to coach lou putting theright guy in at the right time for
whatever he needs. It's situational. They have some specialists on the bench,
(15:22):
and while in this series we didn'tsee a lot from Viza Zubots and he
played just three minutes tonight, wehardly saw Patrick Beverley. I think that
could change quickly. That's what's sogreat about this Clippers team. They have
so many guys that if you needthem in a certain matchup, they're ready,
willing and able to step up.The stay ready Clippers. That's been
(15:46):
one of the things, or oneof the mantras, one of the philosophies
they've had all season long. Juststay ready. It started with Patrick Patterson,
but that's saying has moved throughout thisentire locker room. Whenever your number
is called. You just have tobe ready for this team. Luke Nard
was tonight, Terrence Man was.Let's pause ten seconds though for station identification.
(16:07):
Here on the Patriot EM eleven fifty, this is LA Clippers Basketball amleven
fifty KIV, Los Angeles, aniHeart radio station. Try to catch Zack
slipping there. The Clippers become justthe fifth team to come back and win
a series in a seven game serieswhere they starting an O two hole,
(16:29):
with those first two games being athome. They win. The only time
a home team won in this serieshappened today at Staples Center. The Clippers
win one twenty six to one elevenover the Dallas Mavericks. We'll come back.
We'll get your phone calls. Match, I owe you one. We're
coming to you next. Jeff andTarzana's online, Oh boy, Jose and
Southgate, Bill and Irvine hold on, we'll get to everybody here. The
(16:55):
Clippers survive Luka Dansis and they advancedto the second round. They're take and
on the Utah Jazz in Utah, with game one being Tuesday night. More
on that farbot Ess and Shire willjoin me here at Staples Center and we'll
hear from coach lou the mastermind, the orchestrator of this comeback in this series.
Next right here on Clippers stock onthe Patriot AM eleven fifty. The
(17:27):
LA Clippers playoffs are upon us theDallas Mavericks. You're listening to LA Clippers
playoff basketball on their exclusive home WinnerClub and Forrest Corner open corner three for
Mores p rs. It lorchis Foris'scar once again and that should be the
(17:48):
nail of the top in seventh threeof the game for Morris one twenty to
one oh seven, the Clippers infront. In Game seven, the Clippers
get seven threes from Marcus Morris Seniorafter he win one for ten from the
field in Game six, and theClippers win Game seven by a final score
(18:10):
one twenty six to one to eleven. From Staples censor, I'm Adams London
here listening to Clippers talk. Eightseven seven five two zero eleven fifty eight
seven seven five two zero eleven fifty. So you have a team that's been
through so much, that has ahistory that's not always so flattering in big
games. And they were also orthere were also individuals who hadn't played great
(18:37):
at times in these moments, andMarcus Morris had really struggled. Started off
this series zero of nine from threefinishes in Game seven seven of nine from
three, missed his first nine tostart off this series, hit seven of
his last nine attempts from three.Exercising demons out there, just playing through
(19:00):
it, whatever you're dealing with.If there's some adversity. This Clippers team,
they just seemed to find themselves playingbetter because of it. It's been
like that old season long last year. They wilted at times in big moments,
up by nineteen, up by sixteen, up by twelve in the final
three games against the Denver Nuggets, and they just could not close the deal.
(19:25):
Well, they face some adversity,up by just seven after being up
by I want to say nineteen atone point in the fourth quarter, but
Luca Nanchich continued to hit ridiculous shotsfrom the outside and it was just about
a seven point game with five minutesleft. In fact, it was a
(19:47):
seven point game with two minutes left. Reggie Jackson, though, would hit
a twenty six foot three pointer offan assist from Kawhi Leonard the perimeter,
passing the ball movie in this game. This is what we have seen through
most of the season, and thisis what has led to the Clippers hitting
so many three pointers at such ahigh rate. That says a high percentage,
(20:11):
because the ball movement, because gettinginto the paint and then spraying it
out and guys looking for one anotherand trusting each other and having that confidence
to put him up from the outside. But to do it in a game
seven, To have this experience ofbeing in such a tough series against in
all time great playoff performer, Imean, I'm I'm good with saying that.
(20:34):
Now I've seen enough from Luca donChich. He's been ridiculous in these
two first round series. He's onlybeen in the playoffs twice, but he
has definitely showed up and has donesome historic things and the Clippers overcame it.
Anyways, That's just so rare tosee because you could start to feel
like it's just destiny for Luca.He can't miss, He's gonna continue you
(21:00):
to hit these ridiculous shots and there'snothing we can do about it, and
you can have that doubt creep inand it can mess with your game,
especially when you're down two games.Anne and the Clippers put up one twenty
one in that Game two, andthey still lost. But even without the
three point shooting, they found otherways to get back into this series.
That's important, that's huge, Andthen they were able to rely on that
(21:23):
foundation they built all season long withthat great shooting, not just from three,
but from the free throw line, and they go twenty four of twenty
four. Let's go to Mitch inniw Jersey. Mitch, I'm sorry I
didn't get to you after Game six. What's up? Yeah, just sorry,
It's okay, it's from Thank god, the seasons is not over.
(21:45):
I have a whole list of peopleto give pink slips too. I've changed
my mind. We know, Lucareminds me of I know you're gonna say
Dirk because he said more like LadyBird. I'm not Larry Birds fans for
sure. This guy's is an incredibleplace if he ever gets to be a
free agent. Speaking of free agents, I hope how Clippment can resign quiet
(22:07):
no matter what, gotta go keep, and I hope they go keek in
the bench us he cousins too.I believe Pattison it was this great game.
I'm quick Quie he's taken over becausethat's how we should be like another
that was She's the third past inthe league. Mits, thank you for
the phone call. Kawhi finished withtwenty eight points on ten of fifteen shooting.
(22:30):
The only person who's been better inthese playoffs has been Kawhi Leonard.
He has had to raise his game. Iron sharpens iron with Luca doing what
he did, Kawhi Leonard ends upshooting over sixty percent from the field in
this series well, playing great defense. Lucas shot under forty percent when he
was guarded by Kawhi Leonard in theseries. He was by far the best
(22:53):
defender as you would expect, butit was difficult to get a beat on
him because well, they're setting somany screens. Luca is hunting for that
mismatch and that weakness out there allthe time. But it's been the adjustments
by coach Lew that has been thedifference. With the Clippers coming back,
and you mentioned to Marcus Cousins there, Mitch, we may see him in
(23:14):
the next series. There's a differentchallenge now and Rudy Gobert out there now.
I still think the Clippers are gonnago small like they did in that
last game against the Utah Jazz hereat Staples Center in the regular season where
they beat them going small with NicholasBattuma out there at the five. But
yeah, there's gonna be different matchupsand styles, you know, great fights
(23:36):
or whatever that's saying is styles makefights. It's a whole new challenge with
this Utah Jazz team that's also reallygood from three. So somethings stay the
same. But this series going throughand having this adversity and having this experience
of having to play seven games tocome out of it, to survive,
(23:56):
I think it's invaluable for this Clippersteam. I think it's gonna do wonders
for them long term. During thisplayoff run, you're listening to Clipper Stock.
I'm atam Maslin eight seven seven fivetwo zero eleven fifty eight seven seven
five two zero eleven fifty is thephone number. Let's go to Jose and
south Kate. Oh, I knowhe's big hyped. Jose, what's up?
You're on Clipper Stock without a MouslindLike I said, well, we
(24:27):
saw today was where this is notthe three one team the Loston Houston.
This is not the three one teamlast year, the last two you know
who Denver Man, Adam, wedid that, don't know two we did
that. We saw Kwaiet Lanard goKwaie Landard. And today we got back
to Clipper basketball. Let's go.Look no, we love blue. So
(24:51):
now we're gonna be saying, look, Adam, second round, baby,
I hope you didn't pack it.I know you didn't take it back.
Baby. I know you're ready,So you're ready. Let's thank you jose
and Southgate. The Clippers ended up, by the way, assisting on thirty
of their forty one make shots madeshots. That's seventy percent of their made
(25:15):
shots came through assists. When Imentioned that great ball movement we saw that
was reminiscent of what we've seen allseason, leading to them hitting a high
percentage of their three pointers. Theywere great. They put up one hundred
and twenty six. They win byfifteen over the Dallas Mavericks. We thought,
hey, if a three point shootingreturns, they could win by double
(25:36):
digits. Somehow, through the firstsix games of this series, they had
it tied at three games apiece.Without one of their biggest weapons, which
is that hot and consistent three pointshooting, at least it was in the
regular season. If that returns nowand after winning a game seven due to
(25:59):
that three point shooting, you gottathink guys are gonna have even more confidence
from the outside. They had tohave it, and they hit those shots
from distance in the biggest game,in the biggest moment, with Marcus Morris
hitting that dagger we heard from NoahEagle earlier coming into this segment from distance,
but Reggie Jackson hitting two clutch threepointers late in the fourth. All
(26:22):
right, let's hear from coach luthough. I'm telling you give him all
the roses, the flowers, thecredit for pulling this off, because those
same people that set same old Clippers, and we're saying, where are those
adjustments we heard about with coach LouWell. I hope the apology is as
loud as some of that negativity was. Let's hear from coach Lou post game
(26:48):
after the Clippers win in seven hereat Staples Center once twenty six to one
to eleven over the Dallas Mavericks.Hey, I'm just wondering, just mentally,
you know, it seems like youguys never really but when they got
up, especially late in the game. Did you need to say anything to
them or did they were they justmentally locked in all day. They were
mentally locked in all day. Andit was a total team effort. You
(27:10):
know, I'm having thirty assists, you know in the game, seven a
hundred and twenty six points. YouMarkut's making seven threes teens man in the
first half. You know, LukeKnar coming in making three threes, Niko
the way he started the game, you know, and then PG and Kauhi
had a nineteen assists between the twoof those guys. It was a total
team effort, man. And youknow Reggie coming up big hit the end
(27:30):
and making some big threes for us. You know, like I said,
a total team win. We wantedthis moment. I was a great test
for us. You know, I'mmaking us battestic going into the second round.
So, like I said, itwas a great win for us.
Thanks for We'll go over to MarkSpears. Congrats team. Thanks Mark.
(27:51):
I wanted to ask you about Marcusthe game. He had what it meant
to you guys, he had sohe gets sparked by him from a three
point right and it's a lot.You know, we was getting shots all
series and we didn't make and wekept staying time and time again that you
know, we're getting great looks versustheir own, versus their man I'm a
PG and Kawa where they kept attacking, we got open shots and we just
(28:12):
didn't make Mark, and we justtold guys, just trust trust your work,
you know, trust all the workyou put in our season, throughout
your career to get here to thispoint. And you know, like I
said, Mark's the second second leadingthree point shoot in the league this year,
so we do it was gonna makeshots, we just didn't know when.
But what a great time to maketwenty threes in game seven. Thank
(28:33):
thanks Mark. We'll go over toAndrew Greife. It'sac congrats. You know,
on one hand, you have ashort turn around and it's a pretty
taxing the series. But do youfeel like having gone through this experience,
the ups and down coming back fromtwo deficits, this could be a good
almost like a springboard for you guysgoing into a tough series. Yeah.
Thanks, So, you know, just you know, battle tested, going
(28:53):
to seven games in the first round. I'm coming out here winning a game
on our whole floor, you know, which we didn't play well the first
three games, but this shows alot about our team, about the resilience,
about what we've done all season long, you know, Luke Nard and
terrace Man, like I said, playing big games this year because of our
injuries and guys being out and thoseguys that come in and step in and
playing the way they did was hugefor us. Thanks Andrew, we'll go
(29:18):
over to home. Hey, Ty, you said the guys wanted this moment.
How did today feel different than thelast time you guys were in a
game seven last year? I meanhow much were they just motivated to kind
of get rid of that bad tasteout of their mouths from last year?
Yeah, that's those guys that ButI know it was a tough serious for
us, you know, Luke puttinga lot of pressure on us. You
(29:41):
know throughout the course of this series, which we needed. We was able
to do some different things defensively thatwe need to see and need to do
as well. So we got toget better with that. But you know,
last year was last year. Youknow, we talked about it,
you don't when the season started. That's over and we gotta look going forward.
You know, we can't keep lookingbehind and what happened to bottle up
that's that's just hope. So wegotta do what we gotta do, keep
(30:02):
moving on and getting ready for thesecond round. Try was there a moment
today that you just kind of knewthat these guys had it in them today?
I mean, I guess we hadto walk through guys was locked in
and pocus. But we've been we'vebeen out serious. You know. We
had to make a couple of adjustmentsafter the first two games and then we
was able to go forward one afterwe've made those adjustments. So you know,
those guys have been publised all seriouslong. So you know, you
(30:25):
get down low two on your homefloor and then to go to a hostile
environment in Dallas where their fans wasout of control, you know, and
to come back and win four one. I mean it says a lot about
our teams. So they've been focusedabout the whole series because we had to
make some adjustments and go from there. Thanks thanks go over to law.
(30:47):
Sorry speaking focus, that third orderdid not exactly start really great for your
team. You had to qualifyed outsending five seconds in giving that three to
part away after a bucket what didyou tell your team in that moment and
how were they able to turn itaround from there? No, he's gotta
take advantage of this opportunity. Youknow what I said. You know,
don't come out take bad shots. We can't turn the basketball over and we
(31:07):
got to get back in transition. But keep attacking. Don't get enticed by
taking the people in shots because duringhis own we gotta get back to attacking
the room, attacking the pain andthen springing up our open threes. And
we're open. So just a littleyou know, low coming out, you
know, starting the third quarter. But like I said, they got back
on track and we call that timeout and keep attacking and kept getting to
when we wanted to get to.All I'm telling you, the apology better
(31:30):
be as loud as the disrespect was. I heard it when the Clippers were
down two oh on this very station, No Less saying what's change? Why
did they get rid of Doc Rivers? I love Doc and I hope the
Philadelphia seventy six ers meet the Clippersin the finals. I think it would
be fantastic. But you look atthe adjustments and the bold moves that coach
(31:53):
lou made in this series starting withReggie Jackson starting in Game three, then
inserting Nicklas Batoum into the starting lineup, taking out of Vizza Zubats, who
has been so good for this teamall season long. It was just a
bad matchup. Every time Luka Donchesgot the switch on him, he would
hit that shot and he saw TheClippers were a minus thirty five through three
(32:15):
games when Luka Donches was on thecourt next to a Vizza Zubats and he
switched it up. Meanwhile, NicholasBatum was a plus on the court going
up against Luka Donches and he stayedwith it for the last three games of
this series. It was just brilliant. And I don't think you can say
(32:36):
enough about the turnaround being fueled bycoach Lou and all the great moves he
made in this series. All right, let's go to who else we got
him? Oh, we could goto Jeff and Tarzana. We could do
that, Jeff, Jeff, Let'skeep it positive. The Clippers just one
in seven. Come on, Iam the happiest guy in Lwait, Adam,
(32:59):
and I also have to give youa compliment when you're right, you're
right. I remember you telling methat all the Clippers have to do is
really shoot good, because they hadbad games when they weren't shooting from from
three point And you were totally correct. And I was so proud of the
defense after the first quarter where theygave up thirty eight points and I thought,
(33:22):
God, at that rate, they'regoing to give up one hundred and
fifty two points. But look whatthey did the last three quarters. And
you know, his substitution pattern wasgreat today. And I think they could
beat They could they could beat Utah. And I was looking at this way,
(33:42):
Adam, is this the first timein NBA history were four teams from
the same conference who never won thechampionship will be playing? Oh that'd be
an interesting nugget. The Clippers,Utah, Phoenix, and Denver have never
won the championship. Yeah, you'renot wrong, Okay, Adam. You
(34:07):
know I keep up with this.I've been following the NBA for for a
long time and I know what itis. And only two teams from that
other Eastern Division, only Philadelphia andMilwaukee, have won championships. So six
new teams. I don't think that'sever happened before. Mike correct, I
(34:30):
think you're right, And thank youfor the phone call, Jeff, because
you were right in your last call, partly because you said the Clippers were
oh in their last oh. Fortheir last eight home games in the playoffs
going back to twenty seventeen, theyhad not won at Staples Cents Are.
Obviously, they had lost three gamesin this series at home. They had
(34:52):
lost three also in twenty nineteen againstthe Golden State Warriors, and then they
had lost the last two home gamesthey had back in twenty seventeen in a
first round series against the Utah Jazz. Both teams have obviously had a ton
of turnover since then. They aren'tthe same. It's a whole new matchup
(35:13):
in this second round, where theUtah Jazz will have home court. But
I do think the Clippers have avery good chance of coming out of that
series, especially because of how mentallytough going through these seven games is going
to make them here in this firstround where they somehow, some way we're
able to come through when they neededto. Most the playoffs is all about
(35:37):
performing when your best is required, being at your best when your best is
required, and the Clippers showed thathere in this first round series. Let's
go to Richard in Monrovia. Richard, what's up? You're on Clippers talk
following Jeff and Tarzana. What yougot, Richard? I was actually going
to block my number and channel mynor Trisanian. But I'll be nice.
(35:58):
So all the they sayers out there, We've got one problem, and that's
two players have played themselves out ofthe vector's contract. You. I mean,
you look at Jackson and Batum, they're the best values of the market's
I'd say that's not a problem yet, Richard. And it's not something I'm
really concerned with yet. It's agreat problem to have at this time.
(36:22):
Anything else about today's Game seven victory, Richard, No, I just uh
us, you know, strategic.I like the strategic coaching. That's it.
Thank you for the phone call.No Eagles called him the chiropractor.
He got the Clippers back in linein this series and they got the victory
(36:43):
in seven games. But you mentionedtwo guys that are on veterans minimums that
have been absolutely crucial all season long. But in this game seven, Nicolas
Batum, five assists, seven boards, eleven points, a block on Bobie
in the fourth quarter. Reggie Jacksonthose two three pointers we talked about coming
late in the fourth quarter to putthis one away. They've been so huge
(37:07):
for this team. Unsung heroes, guys who in Nicholas Batoum's case, was
given up on I guess by theCharlotte Hornets and has had this resurgence with
the Clippers. Or he's been oneof their best players all season long.
And then Reggie Jackson. Remember afterthe first ten games of the regular season,
he was out of the rotation, speaking to moves by coach Lou.
(37:30):
He saw that he and Luke Kennardand Lou Williams couldn't work together on the
floor and Reggie was the odd manout. He gets back in due to
injuries. He's starting because Patrick Beverleywas out for so long and Pat BEVs
started this series off too, buthe was simply being picked on because he's
(37:51):
undersized out there against Luca don chichand coach lu says, Okay, we're
gonna go more offense and put inReggie Jackson. From Game three on.
It's worked. It worked beautifully,Clippers winning Game seven once twenty six to
one eleven over the Dallas Mavericks.Let's go to Sean and Inglewood Sean,
what's up here on Clippers Talk postgame without him? Awesome? Hey,
(38:15):
Hey, it's a great day inClipper Nation. I'm so happy for the
win. I just want to say, yes, Tylu did coach a good
game, and I want to saythat one of the things I said before
is to use the bench and showdifferent looks, and he did show different
looks, and he did give otherguys a chance to contribute, which then
(38:37):
has Dallas on their heels. Soinstead of the Coopers being reactionary all the
time to what Dallas is doing,Dallas had to react to the Clippers.
And then in the fourth quarter, now you have arrested Kawhi Leonard and arrested
pauled George a little bit more thanmaybe before because now the people have contributed,
(39:00):
and now Dallas has to expand theirdefensive intensity beyond just maybe focusing on
the starting lineup or just two orthree people in the starting lineup. Sean,
I'll say this, Paul George playeda few less minutes. He went
from playing forty six minutes in thelast three quarters of the game in Game
(39:22):
six to playing forty three minutes tonight. Kawai still played forty two minutes.
He wasn't coming out of the game, okay, but at least you had
contribution from the other people. Yeah, and I just keep it positive.
Clippers in six versus Utah, Ilike it. Sean, I like it,
Sean and Inglewood. Sean, thankyou for the phone call. Let's
(39:44):
hear from Kawhi Leonard post game onthe Evil four letter, because without him
playing to this level to match whatthe ridiculous shooting we saw from Luca don
chichall series long, the clipp Ushave no chance. The reason they could
survive for so long without their threepoints shooting being that Butcher's for them is
(40:07):
VTB and term he would use tosupport them is because Kawai was relentless at
getting to the basket and also wasjust on another level MG ninety six style
in the mid range. He washitting everything, and he also had five
three pointers in that game six toget him to those forty five points.
(40:28):
Here was Kauai after the Clippers pullit out they win one twenty six to
one to eleven. Here is Staplesin Game seven over the Dallas Mavericks.
Here was Kwi post game, Kawai'scongratulations and a whole one you guys lost
the first two games in the seriesand then went down in game three.
What does it say about this teamthe way you were able to fight back
(40:51):
and win to advantage to the nextround. I mean, we just up.
We know what type of team wewere. You know we are watch
film. He wanted to get betterand we did it on the defensive game
and uh, you know we cameback and Dallas one of those two games,
and you know it was a seasonfrom there. You said that you
set, you said you had adefensive signs against the little guy in game
(41:15):
six? Did you carry that intwo games seven? Because he did not
shoot the way he shot against otherdefenders the way he shot against you involved.
I mean, you know the wholeseason, we I mean the whole
series. We Uh, you haveto lock in on him. He's a
phenomenal player, great one on oneplayer, could pass to his teammates,
and you know you can't just pickone game to lock in. You have
(41:36):
to stay focused throughout the whole youknow series if the seven games of four
games and you know that's just havingthat mental focus just helped us throughout the
series. Thanks so much, Kawhi, onto you tube. We appreciate it.
If you think there was Kawhi Leonard, if he finished with twenty eight
points, ten boards, nine assists, and four steals. It had a
couple of those steals in the fourthquarter. It just felt like he was
(42:00):
playing that free safety where if hewasn't on Luca don Chichen, wasn't isoed
on him, he was just crashingthe passing lanes by the Dallas Mavericks and
just creating havoc out there defensively. But think about this for a second.
This Dallas team during the home openerthis season here at Staples Center, also
(42:22):
during a twelve thirty start on aSunday, beat the Clippers by fifty one
points. And now when we cometo the playoffs and they had a two
oh advantage of three to two advantagein this series, and the Clippers find
a way to win back at StaplesCenter to become the first team to win
(42:44):
at home in this series. Theywin by fifteen, they pull away in
the fourth quarter. Kawhi Leonard,of course, was a huge part of
this. There he was postgame comingup next far about essens. Shari will
be here from si Now I thinkhe can't stand me up twice pulled me
(43:04):
once. I'm not gonna pull meagain. I think that's what our former
president said. It's not gonna bea shame on me situation. I swear
we'll hear from far about Essen Sharry. We'll talk about the upcoming series starting
Tuesday night in Utah for Game one. Clippers and Jazz and all that jazz.
(43:25):
What a victory today, clippermation. This team is just built different.
You're listening to Clippers talk. I'mat a Maslin and this is the Patriot

the ramp, cool building, flickingJim, another one from Kawai at four,
Zenkis to the post to last ateighty three eighty one Clippers Kawhi Leonard
(44:09):
finished with twenty eight points and theClippers finished off the Dallas Mavericks. They
win Game seven here at Staples Centerone twenty six to one eleven. Welcome
back into the Clippers doc, I'mat a Moslin eight seven seven five two
zero eleven fifty eight seven seven fivetwo zero eleven fifty is the phone number.
(44:29):
Far About essence, Shari is setto join me at some point here
at far About underscore E. Icould see him about one hundred feet away
here in Staples Center. I mayjust scream at him, Hey, far
About, are you coming on theshow? Or one? Let's talk about
Kawhi Leonard though in the history hemade in this series since nineteen eighty three,
Kawhi Leonard is just the second playerand first since Kobe Bryant back in
(44:53):
two thousand and two, with atleast twenty five points, ten boards,
five assists, and zero and oversein a Game seven. That's not all.
Kaui is just the fourth player inNBA postseason history to have at least
two hundred total points while shooting atleast sixty percent from the field in a
(45:14):
single series. The last player todo so was Shaquille O'Neal in the two
thousand NBA Finals A center. KawhiLeonard put up center type field goal percentages
in this series. He was thathot and they it just seemed like every
time they needed that big shot fromhim, he would get it in in
(45:35):
Game six or here tonight in Gameseven. He was that calming presence out
there when things got tight, whenthe Clippers were all of a sudden down
by five in that third quarter, after they led by eight heading into the
half. The Clippers also they're twentythree pointers that they hit most in a
(45:57):
Game seven in NBA history. Gameseven's do not normally look like this,
where there's this much offense, whereboth teams are shooting it at a very
high rate. Typically it's a gameyou just gotta win and pull it out
out of the mud or the muck. It's an ugly game. That two
(46:19):
twenty ten Game seven between the LosAngeles Lakers and the Boston Celtics ugly game,
and it comes down to rebounding andgetting up more shot attempts. But
I thought the Clippers really showed thatresolve and just that mental toughness that we've
been seeing all season long when thingsgo wrong. And I think this series
(46:42):
is only going to better prepare themmoving forward in these playoffs. Because a
lot of people were saying, well, and a lot of people still are
saying, because you know, thereare plenty of haters out there on Clipper
Nation and they're coming for him, still saying how did it take his seven
games to beat this Dallas Mavericks team. That's where the narrative shifts for the
haters. First it was you're gonnaget swept by the Dallas Mavericks. Then
(47:05):
it was, okay, you tiedthings up, but Lucas still better and
he's the best player in this seriesand he's gonna win it for them,
And now as well, you won, but it took seven games, Like
they're George Casanza and Seinfeld talking tothe New York Yankees. Yeah, you
won in six games. But thereare two other teams that struggled like this
(47:28):
early on in the playoffs that wouldgo on to win it all. Back
in two thousand and eight, theBoston Three Party plus Rondo, they went
seven games in the first round againstthe Atlanta Hawks and Mike Bibbie and I
think Joe Johnson. Then the Lakersin OH nine went seven games in the
second round. I think it wasagainst the Houston Rockets, who didn't even
(47:51):
have Yao Ming or Tracy McGrady. This type of stuff. I say,
fourged through five, it can strengthenyou as a team because you know you're
never out of it because you alreadyhave been counted out before and came through.
That's what this Clippers team has beenabout all season long, where it
(48:13):
felt like they were better prepared forthese moments by finding themselves in a lot
of adversity situations, which does revealyour character and the fact that they were
able to come through with guys offthe bench out of nowhere. Luke Kennard,
through the first five games of thisseries, I think I've played about
(48:35):
two minutes, and they were inconsequentialminutes at the end of games that were
no longer in doubt. He playsabout ten minutes in Game six and then
plays fifteen tonight here at Staples andknocks down two huge three pointers in the
fourth quarter, has eleven points, provides a spark. Terrence Man, who
(48:57):
I mentioned earlier, I'm sure wasdown on himself at one point because he
didn't take that layup at the endof Game five, but it didn't phase
him. He was unflappable and inGame seven played great defense, but his
offense showed up. Normally, we'retalking about Terrence Man and the plus minus
and just what he did with theintangibles and the defense and the rebounding.
(49:22):
No, he was five of ten, he was two of three from distance,
had all thirteen of his points inthe first half when the Clippers were
making their run after being down.I want to say it was, yeah,
thirty eight to thirty five after thefirst quarter. They won that second
quarter by eleven at thirty five totwenty four, And Terrence was very good
(49:44):
for them, and they got outof this series. Even with Rajon Rondo
struggling the last three games. Ithought he was huge in the first four,
but he just struggled with his shotafterwards. But coach Flew. He
found the guys who were high inan in rhythm at the at the right
time. He pressed all the rightbuttons. All right, let's go to
(50:06):
Zach press this one Bill at Irvinehere on Clippers stop at Auta Maslin post
game after they win once twenty sixto one to eleven in Game seven over
the Dallas Mavericks. Yes, thanksfor taking my call. Yeah, to
reiterate on the last few analysis,is there yes, none of those teams.
Just Denver in the West was anABA winner back you know, before
(50:29):
the merger, you know, NewJersey and Denver and those teams came into
the NBA. It's amazing too thatthe Clippers, unlike the Houston series,
they had clutch players this time likea Reggie and Paul George himself was not
he was he was clutched this timearound too, because basically the bubble was
the bubble. And my question is, do you think Utah is actually better
(50:52):
than the team that was throwing anythingthey could find towards the locker room by
blowing two games at Denver last year, or do you think they just flat
out the best team you know thisyear in the Western Conference going in you're
asking if they're better than that Denverteam that beat the Clippers last year.
Well, what I meant was, yeah, actually the team that lost to
(51:13):
Denver in the first round, andyou could see some players as so frustrated,
throwing things down as they walked upthe court. Twice they had six
point leads in the last minute anda half and could not hold them off.
So like Portland Denver's marathon fights. You know, thank you for the
phone call Bill. It's interesting becauseUtah was up on Denver in the first
round three games to one, justlike the Clippers were on Denver in the
(51:37):
second round, and Noah Eagle broughtthis up earlier, but Denver coming back
on them being down three games toone, I'm sure gave them confidence going
up against the Clippers when they gotinto that same scenario and they felt like
they were going to play their bestwhen their best was required, when their
backs were against the wall. Nowthe Clippers have gone through some serious adversity,
(51:57):
down two games to none, downtwo in this series, they came
back to win. Anyways, they'regonna have that confidence too. But Utah
was missing Boyan Magdanovitch in that firstround series last year, and there were
some crazy things happening obviously in thebubble Jamal Murray and Donovan Mitchell in that
first round series, putting up multiplefifty point games back and forth. And
(52:21):
don't get me wrong, Donovan Mitchellis big time. If you watch that
series his rookie season against the OKCThunder and Paul George and Russell Westbrook his
first playoff series, people were talkingabout him having that same early success that
dayne Wade did. He won inhis rookie season. I think it was
against the Charlotte Hornets and Baron Davis, and he has a similar type of
(52:44):
game, but they've surrounded him witha ton of shooting. Roys O'Neil comes
to mind. Very underrated player.Mike Conley Junior's dealing with that hamstring injury,
but he's had a bounce back yearpercentage wise from the outside. Boya
Bogdanovich is healthy, He's had avery good year, although he started off
slow. And obviously they have RudyGobert, one of the best defenders in
(53:09):
the post in this modern era ofbasketball, a two time Defensive Player of
the Year, I believe, andQuinn Snyder is one of the most underrated
coaches out there. The entire teamis underrated because, just like the Clippers,
people are waiting for Utah to proveit or for the Suns to prove
it this season. Prove you're different, prove that you have where it takes
(53:34):
to get to a Western Conference finalsor to the NBA Finals, possibly because
both those teams Utah and the PhoenixSuns top two season in the West,
Utah best record in the league, but people aren't buying in still until they
do it. I do think theClippers This is a decent matchup for them,
(53:55):
despite everything I said about the UtahJazz and how good they are defensively
three but they're gonna have their handsfull. It's a series that is likely
going six or seven games just likethis one, so why not get used
to it right off the bat inthe first round. It's going to be
a grind like this for the Clippersif they are going to get to the
Promised Land. It's not going tobe easy. But you learn a lot
(54:17):
about yourself through the hardships, throughthese type of difficulties, through having to
go against Luca don Chich and theridiculous outside shooting we saw from the Dallas
Mavericks through the first three games inthis series, and finally that three point
shooting for them. While the Clipperswere progressing to the mean, Dallas was
(54:37):
regressing. They hit just ten ofthe thirty six three pointers in this game,
ten less three pointers made by Dallasthan the Clippers, who were due
Coach lu kept preaching it, andhe kept saying, we just can't panic.
Who cares about pressure. We wanta sense of urgency, because you
(55:00):
start panicking, you start thinking abouthow many games you have to win.
In a row to get back intothis series, and how you have to
win two in a row after beingdown three games to two after they lost
Game five. It can overwhelm youand you do have to take it one
game at a time and just figureout a way to win that one game,
(55:21):
survive in advance. And multiple timesnow in this series they won two
games in a row when they hadto. But I think it goes back
to Game three, being down nineteenpoints early. That looked like a game
that the Dallas Mavericks could have justrun away with and they hit twenty three's
and the Clippers still found a wayto win, and it was Kauai and
(55:45):
Paul George leading them when in thatfirst half they were eighteen of twenty two
from the field eighty one percent. It's that shooting percentage. And they came
back and they held on late andthat was the turning point and the belief
started to grow from there. AndKawhi Leonards talk about having that faith and
(56:07):
trusting in teammates and having fun outthere and it's still a game, and
that can ease your nerves too,not just that philosophy or understanding and putting
things in perspective. But it's KawhiLeonard saying it the fun guy and when
your leader isn't phased, as hewas not obviously down two games too,
(56:32):
as coach lou was not saying he'snot concerned. What he meant was,
we're not panicking. We are goingto have a sense of urgency. He
clarified that later. That hasn't trickleddown effect to the rest of the team.
Guys stayed believing in what they didall season long that got them,
(56:52):
got them to this point, andit finally came around for them from the
perimeter, because I thought if theylost this series, the story was going
to be they were the best threepoint shooting team all season long, and
it completely betrayed them and it failedthem in the playoffs. And maybe it
was a bad philosophy or process orway to structure a team. It wasn't.
(57:17):
There was just an inordinate amount ofguys that went cold at the same
time. But once that changed, you saw the result. They win by
fifteen in a game seven once thosethree started to fall for them, and
it went the other way for theDallas Mavericks. All right, we'll take
(57:38):
a quick break. We'll come back. I think Farbot is going to join
me. But we have some morepostgame audio as well. Zach will fill
me in on what we have.Zach attack, Zach l Quality back in
Burbank, holding it down. JakeWarner letting me go till five. Here,
he's our head engineer Staples Center. He had that belief, he said,
(58:04):
I'm not moving my equipment after theylost Game five. Here. I
believe this team is coming back fora Game seven, and I believe they're
gonna win it. Your faith wasrewarded. Clippers win one twenty six to
one eleven in Game seven over theDallas Mavericks. You're listening to Clippers talk.
I'm out of Maslin and this isthe Patriot Am eleventh. The LA
(58:30):
Clippers playoffs are upon us. TheDallas Mavericks. You're listening to LA Clippers
playoff basketball on their exclusive home. And you want him with a basketball in
his hands on the left. Pointto Jackson straight away. I'm big wonderbul
three ball from straight away and itis good. Reggie Jackson, please hero
(58:53):
Mister tune has returned. One seventeenone seven one five. Reggie Jackson with
the triple, and he would gothree of eight from distance, finished with
fifteen points, but had eight ofthose in the fourth quarter, and the
Clippers win once twenty six to oneto eleven. Here at Staples Center in
(59:15):
Game seven over the Dallas Mavericks.Welcome back in the Clippers stock. I'm
at a Moslin eight seven seven fivetwo zero eleven fifty eight seven seven five
two zero eleven fifties. The phonenumber taking you until the top of the
hour, and we have some postgameaudio from Nicholas Batoum, who was a
move and a player that has changedI think the personality and the character of
(59:37):
this team since they acquired him, because nobody thought he would end up being
a starter this season. At leastthat's how things started off. Marcus Morris
was out, Nicholas Batoum was starting. He hit that big three pointer in
just his second game in Denver againstthe Nuggets. That was on Christmas.
He hit another corner three against thePhoenix Suns, and everybody started to think
(01:00:02):
he's built for this playoff life.He just comes up clutch in crunch time,
and I thought he was spectacular inGame seven because there's so much outside
of the box score that this teamdid with just their team rebounding while going
small. The only way it's goingto work is if they are scrappy defensively
(01:00:23):
and on the boards and swarming andgang rebounding. When bobon Aryanovitch is in
there and Chris dafsporzingis obviously they wereat a great size disadvantage, but not
a heart disadvantage. These guys absolutelyleft it all out there and the way
you would want to see them playin a game seven where everything is on
(01:00:45):
the line and Nicholas Batoum he hita corner three early in this game.
He had a block on bobon Rianovitch. Late in the game. He started
things off with a baseline fade away. He had a big steal and also
a that nobody's gonna remember because hewasn't able to get it. He was
fouled, but he tried to throwdown on boban Marianovitch something fierce, I
(01:01:08):
mean, something nasty. We're talkingwell, I don't like to bring it
up, but Michael Olocandy was oncedunked upon by a Mari Stademeyer that had
Stefan Marlborough and making an interesting face. That's still a gift it would have
been insane to do that over thegiant in Boban Marianovitch. But those are
(01:01:30):
energy plays that even though he gotfouled there he didn't get the dunk,
he just showed he wasn't afraid.I think it's inspires confidence in your teammates,
and he just looked locked in fromthe beginning. And here was Nicholas
Patum post game finishes with eleven, seven and five and the Clippers fifteen point
(01:01:50):
victory here in Game seven, grasson the win. When you look back
on this series, I mean allyear, you guys have talked about how
going through the injuries and going sometough situations head made this team tougher.
Was there a point in the seriesyou look back on and think that's when
he started to see it for real? Come out in the postseason. I
mean Game three, when we downthirties eleven, I mean, I think
(01:02:13):
we wanted two players away to almostget swept, and we find something in
us like residency and tom toughness.Okay, we can't go down like that.
We still a good team. Wehad a good team, so we
get to show it now. Soand we get back and then we won
game three, and then after that, I said, okay, they can't
beat us twice. They can't beatus twice. After that, so and
(01:02:36):
and we did it, and wedid a good jobs. Also in the
offseason, White, when you gotreleased by Charlotte, he said that Rudy
was one of the first people youtalked with on the phone, the first
one. What's it going to belike now? And he obviously he tried
to have you come to Utah. What's it like to now they sit in
the postseason with you, guys seasonson the lines. No, he's always
fun too to match up against Godfor your own country, same country,
(01:03:01):
so especially in the playoffs and theleast a couple of times I faced Tony
in Barres already, but I neverfaced Ready, So it's going to be
a book a matchup. No,you had a great season, obviously,
maybe it's going to be the DEFENSIplother yer. I'll hope you will deserve
it. But now and I geta beat, we have to beat him
down. Are Utah had a great, great season, great players, great
(01:03:22):
questioning stuff. But you know wewant the same thing, we're the same
goal. So everything just to getsome rest for next toy six hours and
and get back to war and onthe road that it won't be easy,
especially in this arena, but wehave to do the job. There was
Nicholas Button post game. Somebody elseI want you to hear from would be
(01:03:43):
Terrence Man played twenty six minutes. But the fact that he could come out
and I'm sure he has not forgottenabout what happened at the end of game
five, because you know, ayoung player like this that could affect you
move forward where he elected to passthe ball back to Nicholas Batoum, who
wasn't expecting it. It looked likeTerrence Man had a free look at the
(01:04:09):
rim for a layup, didn't takeit in that situation. But don't forget
how big he's been in crunch timeall season long. Like in Detroit.
It wasn't just Reggie Jackson hitting thatgame winner against his former team in that
game where the Clippers were completely underman but Terrence Man. He had a
huge steal and throw down at thevery end for them to come back.
(01:04:30):
And this is somebody who has lookedto be unafraid and embrace the moment.
So it surprised me when that happenedthe end of Game five. But this
is the response you'll want to see. He overcomes it by making an impact
as soon as he stepped on thefloor. He hit a jumper, he
hit a three pointer. He finishedwith thirteen points in twenty six minutes.
(01:04:53):
All thirteen points came in the firsthalf. And here was Terrence Man post
game after the Clippers win Game seven, still one to eleven, coming into
the season, up to your rookieseason and kind of you know, the
point guard thing and coming in thisyear, like could you have imagined that
you'd be a catalyst in like aGame seven and a playoff series and of
the fields? I mean, yeah, I could imagine it. I believe
(01:05:15):
in myself, so yeah, Idefinitely could imagine. It feels good just
to be out there playing my gamein a big, you know game like
that, in a tough environment.Like as far as you guys, you
know, the resiliency you showed asa team this week, for the past
coupleays, how much can I helpyou guys going forward? Sort of like
what doesn't kill you makes you strongersort of thing. Yeah, campus minister,
(01:05:38):
I mean we just you know,as a team, we're getting better
still, you know, game bygame, and I think, you know,
this series definitely opened our eyes tocertain things that we need to get
better at. And yeah, Ithink it'll definitely help us. We definitely
got better as a team this series. He's going to Melissa Skey, Karen's
heading into such a huge game.I'm curious, is there anything that either
(01:06:00):
Kawai or Kelu or PGS that youguys that inspired such a complete team performance
today. I'm not into specific.Everybody was just ready. Everybody knew what
time it was, Game seven. You know, you gotta play the hardest.
You know it's gonna go home. There's no games after this, there's
no all that's just one game inthe series. You know, it's the
last game in the series. Everybodyjust knows you gotta come out there and
(01:06:23):
play your heart out. So we'rekind of all on the same page about
that. Thanks for over to DennisDans. Can you talk about the defense
you guys were able to utilize inthe second half against Luca. Yeah,
you know, we stuck to wireon him and we try to keep the
matchup as much as possible. Wetry to get the ball out of his
(01:06:43):
hands as much as possible, andI think We did a great job of
it. You know, the otherrole players also did a great job.
During Finney Smith had a great gameplaying his role playing, you know,
out the pick and roll, rollin, catching shoot threes, making the
right decisions and stuff. So hemade it tough for us, But our
goal was just hands. There wasTerrence Man post game after the Clippers win
(01:07:05):
by fifteen in Game seven. Theyare victorious. They are moving on to
a second round series starting in UtahTuesday night against the Jazz, the number
one seed in the Western Conference, best record in the NBA overall. It
is going to be a difficult series. It's a different type of team to
(01:07:26):
see. But I think with theway Dallas played this near the end where
they went big with bobon you're gettinga little bit of a test of what
you could see from Rudy Gobert. Also guarding the paint, that zone defense
from the Dallas Mavericks where they daredthe Clippers to shoot from the outside.
They were clogging and packing the paintto keep Kawai and Paul George out of
(01:07:47):
there. Well, eventually those threepointers started to fall for the Clippers,
but your margin for error shrinks againsta team as good as the Utah Jazz.
The Clippers were good enough to overcomethem mistakes and being undisciplined at times
early on this series defensively, andthey got better and better and they made
the adjustment. But they have tohit the ground running against this Utah Jazz
(01:08:10):
team because you don't want to getdown two games to owe against a really
well rounded, difficult Quinn Snyder coachUtah Jazz team that I do think is
better than the team last season, just because Bodanovitch and he has some playoff
experience with the Indiana Pacers, andthey made quick work of the Memphis Grizzlies
(01:08:33):
in the first round, winning infive. The only game they lost was
without Donovan Mitchell, who was comingoff that sprained ankle. So another stiff
test for the Clippers. But hejust wonder where this team can go after
facing so much criticism and adversity andpressure in this series against the Dallas Mavericks,
(01:08:54):
where you couldn't go out early twoseasons in a row, not with
the two one three connection, notwith the championship aspirations they have had,
and they came through when they neededto and they made all the right moves
down the stretch to survive against pinthem. Unbelievable effort from the Dallas Mavericks
(01:09:14):
Clippers winning Game seven one twenty sixto one eleven over Dallas. Game one
of that second round series once againtips off at seven pm Tuesday night in
Salt Lake City. We'll have yourClippers pregame show starting at six. I'm
sure the Dodgers are playing, sowe'll be on the Patriot A M eleven
fifty. That's how it's worked outthroughout these playoffs so far. But before
(01:09:40):
we get out of here, Ido want to think the Clippers organization.

Brother Jake Warner made sure to getme in the Staples Center to see this
one, and I'm forever thankful Imentioned Big Brother Jake Warner. He's our
(01:10:01):

(01:10:26):
