Speaker 1 (00:00):
The game is done, wrap this one up. Now the
reaction begins. This is Clippers locker Room, your postgame look
at the LA Clippers on the LA Clippers Audio Network.
Now your pre and postgame host Adam Osland.
Speaker 2 (00:18):
Well, it takes a forty one point triple double from
James Harden for the Clippers to win and double overtime
in Dallas. Everything is bigger in Texas, including victories as
the Clippers, and they're losing streak at six games. They
win one thirty three to one twenty seven over the
Mavericks in overtime. Welcome in to Clippers Talk here on
(00:43):
your postgame show, I'm at a Oslin. Coming up, we'll
get to your second half and overtime highlights. But first
back out to Carlo Jimenez from American Airlines Center. Carlo,
what a victory for this Clippers team. Hopefully this is
the one that can get them turned right right back
in the direction they were looking for earlier this season.
This Clippers team hopefully can take some momentum from this.
Speaker 3 (01:06):
Yeah, and that's that is really I mean, you mentioned
it earlier, Adam, but this was a game where whoever
the winner was was gonna feel good. Oh, we want
a tight game, we're able to get out of it.
But the emotional letdown from the loss of this type
of game, you really would feel that. And so the
Clippers just being able to come away with the victory today,
a huge win over a Dallas team that was also
(01:27):
looking for, you know, one of their first wins of
the season against a Western Conference opponent. I thought it
was impressive the way this group battled time and time again.
James Harden obviously leading the way, but the Clippers did
a fantastic job of hanging on to the ball, of
getting good looks on the offensive end, and then also
working through some of their best players. I thought everyone
(01:47):
contributed in a big way, but the Clippers really leaned
on their stars at the end of the game.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
And down the stretch. I'm just so proud of this
team and the way they battled to get to the
free throw line, to get downhill, to do the whole
things to score when three balls stopped falling. They dug
this game out of the dirt. They found a way
to win a game in double overtime by digging deep
and finding just enough energy to outlast the Dallas Mavericks,
(02:15):
who had their own mental mistakes down the stretch.
Speaker 3 (02:18):
Yeah, the Clippers, it really was a war of attrition
in this game. Who would be able to hang on
time and time again? And Dallas just too many turnovers
down the stretch and that fourth in that double overtime
that really cost them the game. And I thought the
Clippers on the other end got good looks every time
they got offensive rebounds. They were the team that was
able to dig deeper late in this game, which was
(02:39):
really impressive. And for the Clippers, you hope to take
away from this game is just like we were able
to get back in the win column, and now it's
how do you turn this into success for the next game.
What worked today? I think bogdan Bogdanovich having a huge
game is huge, right. They were able to be able
to get him back in rhythm. Dere Jones Junior was
excellent on offense, great free throws down the stretch. Big
(02:59):
Zoo has really turned a corner after his slow start.
And then what else can you say about James Harden?
I mean, and when the Clippers need wins, James Harden
delivers every single time. It is impressive.
Speaker 2 (03:11):
Reminiscent of his fifty ball against the Detroit Pistons when
the Clippers were down and out after losing the night before.
But to do this in double overtime, for the Clippers,
to have him out there playing fifty one minutes, going
thirteen of twenty five from the field, six of twelve
from the outside, fourteen boards, eleven assists to just three turnovers,
(03:33):
and of course the forty one points the cherry on top.
James Harden had his fingerprints all over this victory.
Speaker 3 (03:40):
He did it all. He did it all, and it
shows up in the box score, and I think for
the Clippers it shows up in the type of leader
he is. Somebody who I mean, go back to training
camp when he had his own training camp, so we
could bring guys out and spend time with each other
and enjoy some son in Arizona and Bond and James
Tuck got hey, if I know you better off the court,
(04:01):
we play better on the core. And the Clippers really
were able behind the lead, the heroics the cape of
James Harden come away with an impressive win in this one.
And it's it just feels like Harden's ability to show
up night and night and be a true leader. I
mean he really gives it his all every single game
(04:22):
at him And what a victory for the Clippers behind
the Beard's forty one point triple double. How fitting forty
point triple double second most in NBA history, but then
the most with the front with the Clippers ever in
triple doubles with eight And what a way to do it.
I mean, what more can you say? James Harden willed
them to a win tonight.
Speaker 2 (04:43):
What a way to start this road trip. Let's hope
the Clippers have some legs left ill for over After
a day off tomorrow, they will be in Boston and
being town taken on the Celtics. On Sunday, We'll have
your pregame show starting at eleven thirty am Pacific time,
tip off at twelve thirty from Boston. This Clippers team,
(05:03):
can they turn one win into something more? Can this
catapult them forward? I'm interested to see if that's the case.
We'll find out on Sunday. Carlo Jimenez, great call is
always had me on the edge of my seat. Let's
do it again on Sunday, my.
Speaker 3 (05:19):
Friend Adam, Let's do it on Sunday.
Speaker 2 (05:21):
Let's go coming up next? Second half highlights Clippers win
one thirty three to one twenty seven over the Dallas
Mavericks in double overtime in Dallas. I'm Adam Oslin. More
postgame coming up next right here on the Los Angeles
Clippers Audio Network.
Speaker 1 (05:45):
Back to more LA Clippers basketball. Take us with you
on the iHeartRadio app right here on the LA Clippers
Audio Network.
Speaker 2 (05:55):
Clippers win in double overtime in Dallas. Final score Clippers
won thirty three, Mavericks won twenty seven. What a victory,
Clipper Nation. This is how you break out of a
losing streak. It's over six game losing streak is over
seventh heaven, seventh time in term for this Clippers team.
(06:15):
They win in double overtime thanks to forty one in
fifty one minutes from James Harden, and he had the
triple double with fourteen rebounds led them in that category
and of course assists with eleven. Most impressive to me,
you play fifty one minutes and only have three turnovers
when you could have had all that fatigue out there.
The Clippers gutted this one out ton of heart. They
(06:37):
have not given up on this season. They have not
tuned out their head coach in Toronto Loo. This Clippers
team is still battling, even with the injuries going on
right now. They found a way to get this done
against a Dallas team that was also desperate for a win.
Clippers ended up shooting just forty seven percent from the
field because of thirteen to forty two shooting from the outside,
(07:00):
which is why I liked what we saw in double
over overtime. They got downhill, they got to the free
throw line. They attempted thirty six free throws. They hit
thirty of them, much better than what we had seen
as of late Dallas at forty four percent. They were
ten of thirty six from the outside, and they missed
some key free throws. As good as Delo was to
get them into overtime, he missed some tough ones off
(07:22):
the bench six of nine. At the charity stripe they
were twenty nine of thirty eight. That can be an
indication of tired legs out there. Sometimes guys leave them short.
The Clippers were a little better in that area. Dallas
was getting offensive rebounds on them. I thought at one
point that could be the Clippers undoing Dallas with twenty
five turnovers leading to twenty three points for the Clippers
(07:43):
Clippers with twenty three turnovers, leading to twenty six points
for Dallas, who got fifty six points off their bench.
The Clippers got thirty three, though, and welcome back Bogie.
Bogie Ball is back, bog Don Bogdanovich his best game
since the start of the playoff series, at least since
the end of last regular season. Bogie plays thirty seven minutes.
(08:06):
He was out there late throughout both overtimes. Has twenty
one points on eight to fourteen, shooting five of eight
from distance. Even had a couple of takeaways on Di'angelo Russell,
who looked like he was just gassed at the end,
falling apart a little bit. His Clippers team. They showed
that competitiveness we were looking for. It was gut check time.
(08:29):
You can't start off the season and the type of
funk that they were in and not get up for
the start of the road trip. They start off the
road trip in style, winning one thirty three to one
twenty seven over the Dallas Mavericks and double overtime. While
we have a moment, let's pause ten seconds for station
as innification here on the Los Angeles Clippers Audio network.
Speaker 1 (08:50):
This is LA Clippers Basketball AM five to seventy KLAC
Los Angeles, ninety eight seven KYSR HD two Los Angeles
and iHeartRadio station Big Zoo.
Speaker 2 (09:01):
Gone too long without talking about him. Twenty seven points
on eleven of fifteen shooting plus eleven boards, did have
five turnovers. Derek Jones Junior back in Dallas, came through
in the clutch, knocked down some big free throws. He
had fifteen points, playing with a little bit more pop,
even more energy than he usually supplies. This Clippers team
going up against his former employer in the Dallas Mavericks.
(09:23):
Awesome to see. The Clippers had to get this one.
This would have been crushing to lose a double overtime
game when they fought so hard they pull it out.
They win by six and double overtime in Dallas. Next
game coming up in Boston. That will be Sunday afternoon.
More on that coming up. More Clippers postgame show. I'm
(09:46):
at a Moslins and you're listening to the Los Angeles
Clippers Audio Network.
Speaker 1 (09:54):
This is the Los Angeles Clippers. They can conten for
a title heard exclusive. I'm the LA Clippers Audio Network.
Speaker 2 (10:04):
Clippers went in double overtime. It was a good day,
Clipper Nation. They're winning ways are back now. Can they
turn one dramatic victory in Dallas into two into three?
Can they turn it into a winning streak. They have
to to dig themselves out of this hole to start
(10:26):
off this season. As the Clippers were able to overcome
blowing a twelve point lead in the fourth quarter, going
into OT, going into double OT, and then they outlasted
the Dallas Mavericks down the stretch. I love what we
saw from this team. They gave everything they had. They
emptied the tank. That's how you know they haven't quit
(10:49):
on this season. If you need evidence of that that
they haven't quit on this season, or for coach lou
tonight was that they could have packed it in multiple times.
Anybody saying otherwise didn't watch a nice game. The Clippers
got up for the start of this road trip. Now
(11:10):
can they use it to turn things around? Can this
be a catapult forward for them? We'll find out on Sunday.
Clippers in Boston tip off at twelve thirty taken on
the Celtics. We'll have your pregame show starting here at
eleven thirty am Pacific time in LA. Don't go anywhere
we got Clippers stock Next.
Speaker 1 (11:34):
Welcome in the Clippers Talk, the official postgame show of
the Clippers on the LA Clippers Audio Network. Clad up
the phones and make your feelings know. Now your host
for Clippers Talk, It's Adam Osland.
Speaker 2 (11:51):
In doublet. Them Clippers are victorious in Dallas. Finally they
put the losing streak behind them. That stays it six.
They win one thirty three to one twenty seven in
Dallas over the Mavericks. Welcome into your postgame show. I'm
Adame Mosland. As the Clippers got forty one a forty
(12:12):
one point triple double from James Harden who's thirteen to
twenty five from the field, six to twelve from distance,
fourteen boards, eleven assists. Incredible performance when they need it most.
They had to get this game. Dallas was playing with
the same type of desperation as the Clippers. Clippers three
and eight, Dallas was three and nine. Let's hope this
(12:38):
spurs the turnaround for this ball club. This has to
be a start of something. Got to be starting something.
It's got to be. It needs to be because guys
absolutely pushed themselves further than they've been all season long.
James Harden played fifty one minutes. If Visa Zubat's forty
(12:59):
six Derek You Junior forty Bogie with thirty seven minutes,
Bogie ball was back. Finally, I've been waiting for this.
Bogie with twenty one off the bench in his thirty
seven minutes on eight of fourteen, shooting five of eight
from the outside. He needed this badly, and the moment
things changed for him. I took note of this. The
(13:23):
second quarter, Bogie gets a steal and gets a layup
to go in traffic to make it forty two all,
and I thought to myself, that's the type of play
that might give him some confidence. Got a three pointer
to go at the end of the first half. I
(13:44):
could see something was different. This is a guy who
fell apart in the playoff series. Unfortunately against Denver. He
was banged up, but he didn't look like himself. Bogie
had traditionally been a big game guy. Go look at
his game for Serby against tam Usa in twenty twenty four.
(14:06):
So it took him a month after the Clippers got
knocked out in the first round by Denver, he said
to get his body right. Then he hurts his hamstring
playing fever basketball. Then he hurts his lower back in
game one of the preseason. Then he's in and out
of the lineup to start the year. And when they
were healthy, you expected him to be out.
Speaker 4 (14:29):
He was.
Speaker 2 (14:31):
He looked like he was going to be the eleventh man.
Well things change. Bradley Bual's out for the season. Kawhi
Leonard still out. We're hoping he's back at some point
next week where he's supposed to be reevaluated. But I'd
been saying once we found that out, once we knew
(14:54):
Bradley Bual was out for the season, I wasn't sure
how they could get by if Bogie didn't step up tonight.
He did tonight. He was fabulous tonight. He showed he
can still get it done out there. They need him
(15:14):
desperately right now. James Harden has had to do far
too much the ball handling responsibilities, bringing the ball into
the front court. It gases guys out. It's taxing if
you only have one guy for that. CP three looks
to be out of the rotation. Obviously, Bogie looked to
(15:37):
be out at one point. It looks like he's back
in now. The fadeaway bank shot he had over Caleb
Martin as this was an absolute war of a ball
game that occurred to make it ninety one to eighty three,
(15:59):
where the Clippers had multiple chances to close this thing
out early. That was near the end of the third quarter.
From Bogy, you could just see it brimming with confidence.
Finally he starts the fourth quarter three ball, another three ball,
then Bogey to Zoo a beautiful pass for a dunk
to make it one oh one to eighty eight. In fact, Daniel,
(16:21):
do we have some Bogey highlights from the fourth quarter?
I think you put together a mix here. Let's hear
from Carlo Amenaz.
Speaker 3 (16:28):
Clippers running Kobe Sanders on the leak ahead Euro steps
finds the trailing Bodanovich left wing. Three yes, sir, Clippers
have three on three. Bogey gets to his left hand,
cycles right handed, flood on the left block Bodanovich in
double figures Bodanovich left end and dribble attacks Christy into
the paint, steps back one legged followay bang shot Oh,
Bogey Bogey run. A zoob on screen pulls up from
(16:51):
the right wing, sticks another bodanovitch back to back bonus
distance buckets.
Speaker 2 (16:59):
Bogy was incredible. Then Heed every bit of what he
gave him tonight. The bank shot on Max Christie there
put him up twelve, one oh three to ninety one.
They led by twelve in the fourth quarter. He had
a three pointer to put him up one o eight
to ninety seven. I thought there were so many kill
shots from Bobdanovich. I thought there was no chance Dallas
(17:23):
would come back to tie this ball game. But then
it was di'angelo Russell. Points of the ice in his
veins just went off late in the fourth quarter. They
were matchup hunting. They got hardened on him a bunch
and that comeback came quickly with a Max Christie three.
(17:49):
A Russell floater made a six point game. Gafford had
a putback dunk after a Russell miss. All the momentum
was going their way, and then after an offensive foul
on dj D'Angelo, Russell made it one away to one
o eight, but the Clippers kept battling. They could have
(18:10):
let go. Then hard and tough float or going left
made it one twelve to one ten. This game had
some wild sequences. I thought there was a bad possession
from James Harden as he dribbled the air out of
the ball, as a shot clock expired going one on
(18:32):
one with Flag on a step back that was well
short on an airball. Russell would then tie the game
again to make it one twelve. Clippers had Bogie, dj Done,
Zoo and James Harden out there late in the fourth quarter.
Zuobots had a bucket late, d Loo scoop shot on
James Harden. Daslo. Russell was amazing, tied it one fourteen.
(18:58):
Done misses a good look, Dilo misses and we got
overtime in Dallas. One fourteen all was the score. Bogie
then has a turnover to start the first overtime. It
was a layup for Marshall going the other way and
Ajie Marshall won sixteen one fourteen Dallas. Dune missed another three.
They were leaving him open and coach Lou put in
(19:20):
betomb for him. Harden, though right before that, had a
really good possession defensively against Di Loo, and then Delo
started to have some turnovers. Turned it over looking for
a guy on a pick and roll run into the
ram too far out in front. Zu Bots gets fouled
(19:40):
on the other end, goes one of two, one sixteen
one fifteen. Clippers they get a stop. Hard misses a runner,
but Zuo gets the tip in. Excuse me. They were
down one sixteen to one fifteen. Then after the Zoo
tip in. That was a heck of a hustle play.
It was one seventeen to one sixteen Clippers. In the
(20:03):
first overtime. Cooper flag came back, got a bucket, Clippers
down one, Harden tough three pointer, Clippers up two. It
was a thirty five footer a logo type of three,
the type of three he missed recently late in the
(20:24):
ball game. Absolute chaos to the end of the first
overtime with the Clippers up by two. Russell gets fouled
going left, but he misses one of two. Dj then
(20:46):
misses a three on the other end open far side corner.
Harden gets the offensive rebound, misses a bad step back three,
Flag gets the rebound. Marshall to the rim, gets fouled.
Hits both puss Dallas up one twenty one to one
twenty timeout Clippers a Hard and three pointer again put
(21:09):
him up one twenty three to one twenty one. With
twenty five seconds left in the first overtime, Cooper flag
ties it at one twenty three time out twelve point
seven left. Harden goes to the cup and they call
a goaltend. You think the Clippers are up one twenty
five to one twenty three, but they use the Hawkeye technology.
(21:29):
They said it was still on the way up, wasn't
going down yet. Dallas ball with one point four left,
tie game. They lost the ball. Double overtime. Nico patoomb
Sneako with a sneaky play to start the first overtime.
Avisa Zubas won the tip. Nico came up with it
(21:51):
and just went in for a quick layup. He caught
Dallas sleeping or maybe tired legs out there. Cooper flag
pushed at the rim. Tied the game, but them to
wide open three. Russell then loses it out of bounds
for Dallas. The turnovers mental fatigue. Harden gets fout on
the other end, hits both Clippers up one five. Dallas
(22:14):
then has an air ball on a shot clock violation,
another turnover. Hardened layup to give him forty and a
triple double and put the Clippers up four. They get
a stop. Dj goes to the rim. They're doing the
hard stuff now, they're not settling. They're getting downhill and
now DJ goes to the free throw line and hits
(22:35):
both Clippers up six. You felt good about it, but
D'Angelo Russell got fouled on the other end by Bogiana
three pointer, but he missed the first key free throws
missed in turnovers by d Low. Even though they don't
get into the first overtime without him, Dallas Clipper's still
doing the hard stuff. Up by four, DJ cuts to
(22:56):
the ram nice pass rumor visa zoobots. They have to
foul him, hits both Clippers back up three. Another turnover
by D'Angelo Russell Bogie steals it, but two misses a three.
Another turnover by d Lo Bogie takes it away. Dallas
eventually elected to let the Clippers run out the clock.
(23:24):
Down by six, Jason Kidd called off the dogs after
Hard miss a three pointer with thirty six point eight
seconds left. Max Christy missed the three for Dallas and
they wave the white flag, not Cooper flag. They said
enough after he lost its Niko. Buttom Clippers go on
(23:48):
to win a dramatic ball game one three to one
forty seven in Dallas in doubt to get off the
snide to stop the six game losing Street because they
are in Boston on Sunday, Sean and Inglewood, you're on
Clipper Stop without of males and what's up Sean.
Speaker 5 (24:08):
Hey, Adam, thanks for giving me a chance to talk.
I just want to say, in regardless of the fact
that they won the game, the most important thing from
the last two games I think is that Bogie came alive.
Saunders came alive in the last game, and also Miller.
They're probably going to play a little better at home
(24:29):
than they do on the road, the two younger guys,
but it was great to see what Bogie can do.
And you know, we need to get that contribution from them,
and I think that's going to help the you know,
things get turned around. I really do. And so and
I'm not worried about Collins having a couple of bad
games at all, but he'll get into the mix. It
(24:51):
seems like Tyleru Tennant has a system and he's assistant coach,
so it takes a while to kind of get acclimated
when you agree.
Speaker 2 (25:00):
What coach doesn't have a system? Yeah, every coach runs something.
It's gonna take time. In the starting lineup. This is
his third game starting but there's no Kawhi out there.
The spacing isn't great. I think Collins there's a learning curve. Uh.
He hasn't looked good since he's been the starting lineup
(25:21):
eight points three of eight in this one. He's been struggling.
But I appreciate the phone call, Sean. Let's go to
Clipper Edward in Granada Hills. Clipper Edward, what's up?
Speaker 6 (25:34):
Hey?
Speaker 5 (25:34):
What's up? Man?
Speaker 2 (25:36):
Tough win tonight, better tough win than tough loss. Clipper Edward,
are you there? Edward Edward? All right, we'll take a
quick time out. We'll try to get back to him.
Clippers win won thirty three to twenty seven in double
over time in Dallas. I'm out him as and then
(26:00):
this is Clippers stock. You're on SE Sports.
Speaker 1 (26:10):
This is the Los Angeles Clippers. They can contend for
a title heart exclusively on the LA Clippers Audio Network.
Speaker 2 (26:20):
Clippers winning doublet over the Dallas Mavericks. What a victory.
James Harden with a forty one point triple double. I'm
out of Mosland. This is Clippers stock. You're on M
five seventy LA Sports eight six six ninety seven two
five seventy is the phone number, Clipper Edward, what's up?
Speaker 7 (26:40):
Hey?
Speaker 6 (26:41):
What's up bad?
Speaker 2 (26:42):
Did you realize that Bradley Beal is on a player
option for next year? Did you figure that part out?
Do we get?
Speaker 1 (26:49):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (26:49):
I realized that, but I mean we can still trade them, right,
we don't have to keep them for next season.
Speaker 2 (26:53):
But that's not what you were saying.
Speaker 6 (26:57):
So as far as for this game, you know, as
far as the critical part, you know, I'm just gonna
say that Norman Powell had thirty eight points tonight and
John Collins only had eight. So we got to figure
out what kind of player he's going to be for us.
You know, they can't be in and out day and night.
You know, he has to be more more productive for us.
(27:18):
Other than that, everybody else had a pretty solid game.
James Harden, you know, like, how much can we ask
for him all season? You know, forty one points? It
was great, but I think it's asking too much for him.
Other guys got to step up. Bog he looks healthy.
I appreciate them, and as he brought in today, but
a lot of soppy defensive possessions and we just got
(27:38):
to get better on that.
Speaker 2 (27:39):
So frea win, I agree, with you on John Collins,
he has to be more productive. But if you're looking
for him to be the same type of player that
Norman Powell is, or score as much as Norman Powell,
I think you're misunderstanding who they are as players.
Speaker 6 (27:55):
Yeah, but I mean he's got to be at least
twenty point a guy at night. Yeah, you know he
doesn't need twenty point.
Speaker 2 (28:01):
It doesn't need to be twenty points to night like
he does.
Speaker 6 (28:04):
He does he's coming off if if he's starting and
coming off the bench and being our bench scorer, because
if Bogie's not coming up and scoring all these points
every night, you know he's got to be our backup.
So we're depending on him.
Speaker 2 (28:16):
I think you're setting him up to fail if you
think he's going to average twenty on this Clipper's team
when Kawhi comes back here, when a Vista Zubots is
being featured more now when James Harden is still the system,
I just I think it's falty logic, like you're you're
asking for too much. Like what they need is h
him to be a better connector out there and not
turn the basketball over as much as he has be
(28:39):
a solid defender. Do all the little things and be
really efficient with his scoring, even if that only means
getting or seventeen a game. If he's really efficient, that's fine.
Speaker 6 (28:48):
But wouldn't be asking Harden to score forty one points
a game every single game too much for him. He
played fifty one minutes a night.
Speaker 2 (28:56):
Harden is obviously capable of doing crazy things. He ain't
gonna do this again. But saying that, like, because John
Collins isn't getting twenty a game, James Harden has to
get forty one every game. It isn't that type of
trade off. This was a double overtime game. This was
a crazy, wild game. It's it's an outlier. Basing anything
off of this one game. I don't think it's the blueprint.
(29:19):
They had to get it. They dug deep, they figured
it out. I would like John Collins to have more
twenty point games here and there. I'm just saying he's
not gonna average it, not on this Clippers team. Unless
you know we're helping kwis back early next week. They
need him to be back.
Speaker 6 (29:36):
I need we definitely do Big Zoo.
Speaker 2 (29:37):
Getting twenty seven bed like, that's that's what I love
to see. I need you to give me twenty and
twelve right now, that's what I need.
Speaker 6 (29:50):
I would like twenty and fifteen, but yeah, definitely. But anyways,
it was great to say that the Clippers one tonight
and thank you for taking my callment have a great night, all.
Speaker 2 (29:59):
Right, Clipper Edward, good phone call, Jose and Downey Jose.
What's up you're on clopper sock?
Speaker 7 (30:04):
Hey, brother Almo was gonna make it into the call.
Speaker 5 (30:06):
Nice talking to you again.
Speaker 7 (30:07):
Uh you know what, Yeah, to back you up what
we were just talking about about that trade off of
Norman Powell and uh John Collins. I don't think the
move was ever about John Collins coming in and and
and putting in the production that Powell was. But I
think the thought was, hey, we can bring in Collins
to give us that exercise to help on the defensive
side and some rebounding you know when you when you
(30:28):
to add. I think they were thinking to adam into
like the way the defense looked last year, to put
a little bit more length. But I think the combination
of making up Palell's numbers was gonna be a combination
of Collins bogged on and they were counting on be
you know, That's how they I think they were looking
at it for the for the offense to come out
to cover that production. I I have a question for you, Adam.
(30:52):
I well one, let.
Speaker 5 (30:53):
Me make this say.
Speaker 8 (30:54):
At first, I was glad that.
Speaker 7 (30:55):
I didn't see so many minutes of Lopez out there.
He last and the season has.
Speaker 2 (31:01):
Seen like he didn't go back to him. I don't
know if he went back to him in the second
half of this ball game.
Speaker 7 (31:07):
I don't think he did. Man, I see I think
he only played a total ten minutes. And now it's
that first half, and you know what it's been this
whole season.
Speaker 5 (31:14):
The game on the defensive.
Speaker 7 (31:16):
Side looks like it's it's a little too fast for
him right now. I don't know if that's because our
defense is just not good all around.
Speaker 2 (31:24):
That's what I don't get. Brook Lopez cannot be a
guy running around scrambling to make make up for other guys' mistakes.
We Brook Lopez is is a great drop big defender
where you funnel guys towards him. That's what he does.
Speaker 7 (31:38):
Because I think he was still like top ten in
blocks last year, and that's what we need him to be.
That's where he can mimic Zubac in terms of defending
the rim. But it's just our defense, our our defense
around three point line and the slash, and it's just
not there. It's not what it was last year. I
think ty did find something in the Young'ins last game
(32:00):
and this game, even though last game didn't go our
way and not even close, but I think he found
something there. But seeing Tyler realize I can't put Lopez
out there right now for this game. I really like
that about Tyler, and I'm going to back you up
on that too. About I know there's been a lot
of colleagues about, oh, we need Tyler is the problem,
(32:21):
But if TYLERU has said it himself, well, I got
to build. I'm building around Kawhi, and kawhis not there.
Speaker 5 (32:27):
That's a bigger problem.
Speaker 7 (32:28):
So of course the offense is gonna look bad if
you're building around Kawhi and he's not there.
Speaker 2 (32:33):
It's hilarious to me that nobody ever has sympathy for
Coach Lou when he is pretty much for his entire tenure,
has not had consistent health with his stars with the Clippers.
Speaker 7 (32:44):
I agree, I think he has.
Speaker 2 (32:45):
Been how difficult that is, like what Superstar has missed
more games over the last five or six years, unfortunately
than Kawhi Leonard. Like, that's right, that's the guy that, unfortunately,
look at your highest peak, Kawhi Leonard has to be
out there. They've been getting by plenty of times without him,
(33:06):
but they're never going to be a contender if they
don't have Kawhi healthy for a more significant amount of games.
Speaker 7 (33:12):
Right, I agree, Man, I agree. I mean the only
thing I think. I mean, we say the game was won,
but I mean, I feel like susan iron man.
Speaker 8 (33:21):
He obviously has.
Speaker 7 (33:22):
Shown that in his six seven years here, right, seven
years here, he's an iron man. He doesn't miss games
like that. There could be games what he did to
him today. I mean playing forty six minutes, I think
forty seven. I would have loved to see that in
the last game. I would love to see him. I
don't think he was gonna stop joking. I'm not saying that,
(33:43):
but I would have loved to see him give it
back to him on the office side. Make joker defense too,
you know, because I felt he was doing that in
that first quarter, and when they took him out, that's
when they went up. I think it was a tight game,
and then when they took him out in those that
three minute span or four minute span, I think that's
when the Nuggets took a twelve point lead in the
first half, I mean in the first quarter. So I
(34:05):
was I would love to see more minutes for Zoo.
Speaker 8 (34:08):
I would love to see him.
Speaker 7 (34:09):
Get more plays, even more plays. I know you said
he got a good doses of offense through him this today,
I would have loved to see more.
Speaker 2 (34:18):
Yeah, I'm with you, more Zoo, more problems for the opposition.
I completely agree with that. Yeah, that game swung in
Denver's favor when the Visa Zubots went to the bench.
The problem was they had been staggering him because without Kawhi,
without Bradley Beal, they wanted Zoo to start the second quarter,
which is what the rotations had been. So you got
(34:38):
minutes there with Brook Lopez at the end of the
first quarter against Niko Jokic, and then minutes was Zoo
out there to start the second quarter without Jokic. So
it was kind of a trade off, and I don't
think they exactly fed Zoo enough. But I agree with
you ose good phone calls ooas.
Speaker 7 (34:55):
Yeah, good, thank you. Man, Hey, nice talking to your brother.
Hopefully I speak to you again soon.
Speaker 1 (35:01):
I'll go.
Speaker 2 (35:02):
Let's do it on Sunday, Alfonso and San Dimas. Alfonso,
you're on clipper stock without of Maas and what's up?
Speaker 8 (35:08):
Hey, what's up Adam? How's it going?
Speaker 2 (35:11):
Yeah?
Speaker 8 (35:11):
Man uh, party in saving us once again. But the
thing that I don't get is, like with Zoos, with Kawhiao,
Zuo's are his second best offensive scoring. I don't know
why they don't feed Zuzu like every single time, you know,
the like shack. I know he's not shocked, but just
throw the ball to him every time, and then he's
(35:32):
good at throwing the ball out and onenot you know
what I mean.
Speaker 2 (35:35):
So I think they should get it to him more.
There are times where off defenses are more sophisticated with
their doubling and win to double, and he had five
turnovers in the game, so he has struggles at times
when they do that stuff. He got fifteen shots up.
I've been saying fourteen plus fourteen being the floor right
(35:57):
now for Visa zu Bos when it comes a shot
tempts without Kawhi Leonard, without Beal, So he made the
most of it. Twenty seven eleven. I mean a couple
of assists in there. I thought the tip in he
had down the stretch of this ball game, I think
that was late in the fourth quarter. Also went to
the free throw line. He played big. I still felt
(36:20):
like there were times they could have gone to him more.
But he had that great feed to DJ who got
fouled on the cut baseline to go to the free
throw line. That was a great read by beats zoobots.
And he doesn't get an assist for that because there
was a foul. So I trust Big Zoo and you
have to right now. You just have to because they
don't have any other fifteen.
Speaker 8 (36:40):
Yeah, fifteen's like, like you said, it's a good amount,
but like I think twenty could be like five more.
I don't think he's out of the you know the picture,
you know what I mean, Like just by looking at
his stats, like he was like eight for twelve from
the field.
Speaker 2 (36:53):
Well, I'm with you a game that he played forty
six minutes. I agree he could have taken twenty shots
in this game. But I mean, but the other part
is you do have a guy that's scorching hot and
James Harden, you know, those shots have to come from somewhere.
Harden was thirteen to twenty five and six of twelve
from the outside.
Speaker 8 (37:11):
You know, Yeah, he don't belietle bit and he was
supposed to not play so much this year, right and
look at that now.
Speaker 2 (37:20):
Well, my hope is Bogie. This is a step in
the right direction for him. This is the best game
he's had going back to the end of last regular season.
Thirty seven minutes, twenty one points, three assists. He had
a nice pocket pass to Avitza Zubats. They've had a
nice connection. If Bogie has found his confidence in his
(37:41):
shot again, that would be just pivotal for this Clippers
team right now without Bradley Beal, and it looks like
CB three's out of the rotation. They need Bogee badly.
Speaker 8 (37:52):
Yeah, Bogie and the young guys. It's unfortunately what happened
to Beal. But I still don't still didn't get why
Beal was starting when he could only play twenty minutes
a game and wasn't even playing all the games.
Speaker 2 (38:06):
I'll tell you why. Like, they had high hopes for
Bradley Beal. He was gonna be a big part of
this team this season. And I get why. I do
think their highest ceiling would have been with Bradley Beal
getting back to playing well but on the restriction coming
back from injuries. And then he hurts himself twice in
(38:28):
the regular season and now he's out for the rest
of the year. It's like he was injury prone. Obviously,
he played fifty three games each of the last two seasons,
but I understand to reach your peak with this team,
you needed to unlock the best version of Bradley Beal.
So I get it while they were thinking that way.
(38:48):
Unfortunately he's out for the year and the version we
got of him on a twenty minute restriction, that's that's
not real deal, Bradley Beal.
Speaker 7 (38:56):
That's just not.
Speaker 8 (38:58):
Yeah, yeah, I totally nderstand that. But I felt like,
just like when it was like two or three years
ago when Kawhi was hurt and they were like trying
to play him like like that weird funky like when
you were already playing.
Speaker 2 (39:10):
Certainly they had him coming off the bench, They had
him coming off the bench off the ACL initially and
then they killed that. So their point was, Bradley Beal
is going to be a starter with this team. They
thought of him as that guy. They're not going to
bring him off the bench. They want him to start,
even if he's on a minist restriction. And what's that
(39:31):
is that last that last third quarter he had where
he had back to back three pointers, he hit another shot.
He helped him get back into that ball game. We
got a glimpse of it, and unfortunately he broke his hip.
Like we never got to see the real the real
vision of what they were looking for with him.
Speaker 8 (39:52):
Yeah, and then what sucks with the cat too? Right
with like Chris part out of the rotation Brady Beal.
Basically they can't sign anybody else because otherwise they'll go
over the cap correct or that number the second apron.
Speaker 2 (40:06):
Well the one thing that they have for you're talking
about right now?
Speaker 8 (40:11):
Yeah, yeah, because they're they're basically down Bill. Bill's not
a thing and you're gonna play anymore. And then that
Chris Paul's out of rotation. So that's like you have
two this players on the roster that's you can't even use,
you know what I mean.
Speaker 2 (40:24):
It's also only guys that together are taking up eight
million dollars. But yeah, I do understand what you're saying.
They have to stay under the first apron. People are saying,
why would you take this risk on Bradley Beal? You
know he's injury prone because you only had to pay
him five million. Every team would have done that. Phoenix
is paying him everything, so it made sense in theory.
(40:46):
I don't disagree with it. It's just bad luck Clippers
luck like to have a broken hip. You can say
a lot that he's been injury prone. This is a
really flukey type of injury that happened to him, So
it's really unfortunate.
Speaker 8 (40:58):
Yeah, for kicking the charge right, and then I got
the mess.
Speaker 7 (41:01):
Up to hoop.
Speaker 2 (41:02):
This was it was second quarter of the game. There's
an actual time stamp that Lawrence Frank gave. But yeah,
I don't think this was on the charge. I think
he lost the basketball. I'd have to see it again,
but I appreciate the phone call off on So I
gotta take a quick time out here. Clippers winning double
overtime in Dallas. James Harden drops a forty one point
(41:24):
triple double. Heroic play from him Bogie a vista, zubots
down the stretch, but Toom had his moments. DJ was awesome.
The young guys struggled more when the Clippers were up
by twelve in the first quarter and Kobe Sanders and
Jordan Miller were in there early and Dallas went on
a run to turn things around, but the Clippers absorbed
(41:46):
multiple runs. Could have won this one, being up twelve
in the fourth too. God, they were up fifty in
the first quarter, actually surviving advance. They had to get
this win by any means necessary. Well, here from coach
lou coming up, I Meta Mauslin. You're listening to Clippers Sock.
You're on M five to seven ELI Sports.
Speaker 1 (42:08):
This is the Los Angeles Clippers. They could conten for
a title. Heard exclusively on the LA Clippers Audio Network.
Speaker 2 (42:17):
The six game losing streak is over for your Los
Angeles Clippers. They win one thirty three to one twenty
seven in double overtime. It took double ot to get
a win in Dallas over the Mavericks. They were also
desperate to get a win. Clippers dug a little bit
deeper there and they got downhill in overtime and forced
the issue. They got free throws, they got a layup.
(42:40):
That's what it takes. Sometimes you can't just settle for
three pointers late when you got tired legs out there
on the perimeter. I meta Moslin's this is Clipperstock. Clippers
improve to four and eight. It is of note to
say their last two victories came on a Kawhi Leonard
NBA Cup buzzer beater against the Pelicans, and then tonight
(43:01):
they got forty one, a forty one point triple double
from James Harden, who played fifty one minutes in Dallas.
Tonight was also the first time in six games the
Clippers outscored their opponent in the fast break. They had
twenty two to sixteen transition advantage, and this comes from
Joey Kimball first double overtime game between the Clippers in Dallas.
(43:22):
Clippers are now four to zero in their last four
overtime games. The Clippers also survived. This was from Joey
Kimball that stat there the overtime stat The non hardened
Bogie three point shooters in this game for the Clippers
were twenty of twenty two missed twenty of twenty two.
I should say the non hardened Bogdanovich ball handlers combined
(43:47):
for eight assists to sixteen turnovers. Rough So, outside of
Bogie and James Harden. The rest of the Clippers missed
twenty of twenty two a tens from three. It's also
the first double overtime Clippers win since March of twenty eleven,
when it was rookie John Wall and Blake Griffin going
(44:09):
at it, first Clippers game one on the road in
double overtime since two thousand and eight at Indiana, and
James Harden's fifty one minutes played most by a Clipper
since January of five, with Elton Brann playing heavy minutes,
(44:29):
most minutes for Bogey in this one at thirty seven
since March twelfth against Miami he had thirty in that game.
This was very much needed, but it's just gonna take
its toll. James Harden having to play fifty one minutes.
There's a residual effect from a game like this. We'll
(44:55):
take one more quick time out. Clippers win and double
overtime one thirty three to one, twenty seven Dallas over
the Mavericks. I'm in a Mozland and you're listening to
your Clippers talk postgame show right here on AM five
to seven el Sports.
Speaker 1 (45:16):
Back to more LA Clippers basketball. Take us with you
on the iHeartRadio app right here on the LA Clippers
Audio Network.
Speaker 2 (45:26):
Clippers win by six in double overtime in Dallas, one
thirty three to one twenty seven. Was the final Thank goodness,
because you lose this game that goes in a double
overtime and it drops you to seven straight losses. I
don't know if you recover from that type of tailspin.
(45:48):
The Clippers did recover from giving up a fifteen point
lead in the first quarter of this ball game. They
got off to a great start and they let the
Dallas Mavericks go on a run where their fifteen point
lead was down to two in two minutes and thirty seconds.
(46:09):
Dallas ended up with a nineteen to seven run to
end that first quarter. Kind of back and forth from there.
Clippers would get up, Dallas would come back. Clippers did
have a seven point lead thanks to James Harden at
the end of the second quarter at one point scoring
thirteen straight points for the Clippers, thirteen straight for them,
(46:33):
that had them up fifty seven to forty eight. Just masterful.
There was one layup in there, three threes and then
foul on another three. It was incredible, but the Clippers
were the sixty two to fifty five lead to the half.
They start off a third quarter, dj got an inn
(46:57):
one of a John collinssive play on the other end
after Chris dunnad just made a defensive play. They got
up by eleven quickly there, but by the time the
end of the third quarter was over, it was still
a seven point game. And that fourth quarter where Bogie
(47:17):
would hit back to back threes to start it and
then feed Zoo on a beautiful pass for the dunk
to make it one oh one to eighty eight. The
Clippers could have made it much easier on themselves if
they could have held on to that, but gave Dallas
credit and D'Angelo Russell, who I need to see what
he ended up having in the fourth because he was
that unstoppable. Eventually he would start missing some free throws,
(47:42):
Eventually he would have some turnovers. But D'Angelo Russell heading
into the fourth had fifteen points. By the end of
the fourth quarter he had twenty five. So he had
ten points, but they all came just in bunches at
the very end of the fourth where it looked like
(48:03):
the Clippers could have won this thing in regulation. Nothing
coming easy for this team right now. But you will
take the w in double overtime. James Harden, by the way,
surpassed Magic Johnson for twenty third place on the NBA's
all time assist steals list. I should say with his
(48:27):
one thousand, seven hundred and twenty fifth steal in this
in this ballgame, he got that. It was his first
forty point triple double as a member of the Clippers.
They haven't had somebody have a forty point triple double ever.
And I think we've got some postgame audio from James
Harden speaking with our friend Lauren rose In on FanDuel TV.
Speaker 4 (48:53):
In over fifty minutes tonight, absolute ice in your veins
in overtime. How'd you guys get this one done?
Speaker 9 (49:01):
I don't know. Just continue to fight. Man hasn't been
going well for us, but it's still gonna be resilient.
We're still go fight. And uh, you know, tonight was
one of those cases.
Speaker 4 (49:11):
It's the first night and the first win on a
long road trip. What do you hope the team can
learn together as a leader for this group over the
next few games on the road.
Speaker 9 (49:20):
No, we got the abilities. You know, as long as
we continue to fight, you know, every things aren't gonna
be always pretty. But you know, tonight was a good
start for us, first first game of a long road trip.
So taking one game at a time.
Speaker 4 (49:32):
With tonight's triple double, you become the Clippers franchise leader
in triple doubles in the franchise is history. What does
it mean to you to continue making history for your
hometown team.
Speaker 9 (49:42):
I just played to try to win games.
Speaker 2 (49:43):
You know, you know, you put the work in.
Speaker 9 (49:45):
Things happen like that. So all the Lord God, just
keep going and uh, you know, keep chipping away.
Speaker 7 (49:51):
James.
Speaker 2 (49:52):
I don't know how James does it at the age
of thirty six. As he was speaking there with Orn
Rosen post game, He's in the year seventeen and he
just played fifty one minutes and dropped a forty point
triple double. We talk about Lebron's longevity, Kd's steps, What
about James Harden still being this good. He was All
NBA Third Team in an All Star last season, could
(50:16):
be one again this year with the All Star Game
add into it. Don't but the availability and will to
win and the regular season floor raser that he is.
He is an offensive engine. This is why you bring
him in. Unfortunately, Kawhi has been injury prone. When he's out,
(50:37):
you need James Harden to step up. He's probably had
to do it far too many times. We're hoping Kawhi
is back earlier next week. They're going to need him
to turn this thing around, get this shit pointed back
in the right direction. Tonight was a good start, but
it's only that. Clippers win in double overtime one thirty
(50:58):
three to seven in Dallas over the Mavericks. Everything's bigger
in Texas, including big victories where two teams were this
desperate with records of three and eight and three and nine.
The Clippers get the victory. Now they're four and eight.
Can they climb out of this hole? They made this
(51:19):
bed the start off this season, losing six in a row.
Here they snapped the losing streak, but can you turn
it into a winning streak now is the question. Well,
they're in Boston on Sunday twelve thirty, Tip eleven thirty
pregame show, Pacific time. The Boston Celtics still without Jason Tatum.
(51:46):
This could be a gap year for them. They're still
gonna put up forty threes, sorry fifty. They're six and seven,
Clippers four and eight. Before we get out of here,
I do want to thank the Clippers organization, Ralph Lawler,
Brian Seaman, noa Igo, Carlo Jimenez, big brother, Jake Warner,
thinking to you, Joey Kimball, art satisfician, Daniel Wess, our producer.
(52:09):
Back here in the bank. We'll talk to you guys
right back here at eleven thirty am on Sunday.
Speaker 5 (52:15):
Oh cho choo, I us you choin.
Speaker 2 (52:23):
And Clippers Talk is over, but it's going on your
feed right after the show.
Speaker 1 (52:29):
Now if you miss the show, you can follow it
wherever you podcast I listen on the iHeartRadio app. Make
us a pre sint I never miss an episode. But
that concludes this broadcast of LA Clippers basketball. The LA
Clippers be sure to join us for every game all
season long. Right here, I'm your home of the LA Clippers.
