Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to community viewpoints. Is Shawnee feeling blessed and highly
favored on this Sunday morning. We are empowering our community.
The holidays are upon us, and we have some amazing,
phenomenal individuals who are giving back to the community. So
today I have Shantay Pride. Shantay, how are you?

Speaker 2 (00:19):
I am great Shaani? How are you?

Speaker 1 (00:21):
You know? Blessed to no people in the community, no
individuals who are giving back, who don't think it robbery
to create an event to help the needy. So if
you would just tell the community just a little something
about yourself.

Speaker 2 (00:36):
Well, Shanee, I am Shante Pride. Most people know me
as one of the two adult chicks, but I'm also
the farm administrator for Daniel's Law firm, which is you know,
both of our businesses, and we do our best to
create memories and we do our best to entertained, but

(00:56):
we also make sure that we give back to our community.

Speaker 1 (01:00):
The holidays are upon us, Chante, and I know that
you all do a lot as two dope chicks, but
you also funnel your energy into inspiring and engaging and empowering.
So talk to us about your movement as two Dope Chicks,
But what it is that you do to inspire or
empower the community.

Speaker 2 (01:20):
To inspire and empower the community, we're always vigilant as
much as possible. Yes, we have a lot of dope
events where people can just relax and enjoy themselves in
a safe environment, and just making sure that we're taking
care of ourselves. Self care is very important to us,
so we try to create that healthy balance, especially amongst professionals,

(01:44):
because we're professionals and we know that sometimes it's hard
to create that balance. So we do our best with
Two Dope Chicks to just empower in that way. With
this particular event, with the tense to season givet we
just realized twenty twenty four has been a rough year
for some. Inflation is real, and we have noticed that

(02:07):
family sometimes they're forced to make a choice between gas
for their vehicles or groceries, or it may be going
to the laundromatt and deciding instead of washing all my
loads today, I can only wash one or two loads.
So this holiday season, shining Daniel's Law Firm as well
as Two Do Chicks, we just want to empower people

(02:29):
by giving them a reason to smile and not be
overwhelmed with the typical holiday stress.

Speaker 1 (02:35):
What does the holidays mean to you?

Speaker 2 (02:37):
Shante all the holidays, It's a time for friends, for family,
for celebration connections, reconnections. It's also a great time to
slow down from the hustle and bustle because you know,
some of us are off and we can just sit
hopefully for a second and reflect. And of course it's
a time forgiving.

Speaker 1 (02:57):
And what I try to do each and every week
is highlight individuals who are giving back to the community,
who are trying to allow the community to thrive and survive.
So tell us about the event happening to the Season
Giveaway and how the community can get involved.

Speaker 2 (03:14):
The Season Giveaway is every year we have tried our
best to partner with another organization right in the heart
of the community. Last year we partner with Boys and
Girls Club in Northeast Florida at the celebration site. This
year we're coming back and we're partnering with Boys and
Girls Club in Northeast Florida once again at Rutlish Pearson

(03:38):
Elementary School on Rono Boulevard. The site director is MS
Destiny Bland and we realize those are great needs in
that program. They service over one hundred and fifty plus
kids just in the Boys and Girls Club alone. Also,
it's not just open to the Boys and Girls Club
or just Rutlish Pearson Elementary School students. It's open to

(04:00):
the city. It's open to the community because that is
what this event is about. We really just want to
make sure that everyone that wants to participate to know
that there's a joy in serving. And bring your talents.
We definitely need a face painter right now. If you
want to dress up like Santa Missus Claus whomever. The
kids really enjoy They really enjoyed last year just seeing

(04:24):
the different characters. You could be a clown and want
to do balloons, etc. We welcome you the more the
Maria because definitely the bigger the impact. I can tell
you Shannie, what truly warmed our hearts last year. The
Florida Avengers, which is a women's tackle football team right
in Jacksonville. They came last year and they played games
with the kids. Just to see the kids enjoy playing

(04:47):
outside and the laughter, it was heartwarming. The Florida Avengers.
They are coming back with us this year. We have
some amaze and volunteers. Of course, we have some members
of Alpha Kappa Alpa sorority in corporate Kayta five Soroty.
Those are our nurses, Jack and Jill of America. We
will have a dj, DJ Marcus new Naz He'll provide

(05:09):
the music. We have Casey Williams with photos by CLW
He's gonna capture the moments. We have some great sponsors
by Star Credit Union. They're back for the third year
in a row. Blue Zones Project of Jacksonville. They're back
for a second year with us providing the delicious food.
Of course, of course you have two Dope Chicks and
this year we have started our own not for profit

(05:32):
Two Dope Chicks Give a Care and so we're definitely
heavily involved. And we all know that without Attorney Millicenty
Daniels hashtag the People's Attorney of Daniels Law Firm, none
of this would be possible. She has a huge heart
for the city, for the community, and we just want
to thank everyone that has returned this year and all

(05:54):
of the newcomers as well for assisting in this endeavor
to give back. Thanks to everyone as is giving the
kids and an experience. It's not just coming and grabbing
a gift the kids. We really wanted them to have
an experience, so they're going to have bounce houses, food
hay rides. We have a gaming truck where they can

(06:15):
get on the truck and play their virtual video games.
Everyone would leave with a nice gifts. We're also going
to have a raffle for bikes and laptop So call
us call us at nine oh four four three two
twelve nineteen, press option one if you want to join in.
We will be located at Rutlely Jah Pearson Elementary School
on Saturday, November thirtyth from ten to six. We have

(06:38):
two different shifts coming in from ten to two and
two to six to help us wrap all the gifts
and prepare for Sunday, the actual event December first. It's
still going to be at the elementary school at rutlish
Pearson and we'll be there from one to five for
this great event. And registration is still open so everyone

(06:59):
is welcome. We're going to have fun.

Speaker 1 (07:00):
Seannie, well, it sounds like fun, and I like to
deliver a point where we are here to empower a community.
We understand inflation and life is lifing MD. We have
a group of people who are here to empower you
to provide and give back. And I just want to
ask you, know, giving back means different things to different people.

(07:23):
What does giving back during the holidays season mean to you?
After seeing all of this providing, all of this joy
that you will be instilling into all these children, what
does it mean to you?

Speaker 2 (07:36):
Well, what it means to me? And I think I
could speak for us and what a lot of people
may not know about. Both Milicent and myself two don't chicks.
Both of us are pks. Both of us are preacher kids.
So here's where I get a little spiritual and get
a little biblical as well, because Jesus is the reason
for the season. We've always been taught that it's better

(07:57):
to give than to receive, and sometimes in order to
receive blessings, you got to be a blessing. And so
when we think about this whole event and giving and
not just doing the holiday season, we do our best
to give back all through the year. And we always
go back to Matthew six thirty three, which stay seeking

(08:18):
first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all
things will be added unto you. It means if you
prioritize God's will and his righteousness above all else. Everything
else you need will be provided for you. So this
is not all about material possessions the verse. It's not
about accumulating material wealth, but focusing on our alignment with

(08:42):
God's will and God, you know he wants us to
help our neighbor. So trust if you help others, your
needs also will be taken care of. So that's what
giving back during this holiday season means to us, because
we have to bring it back to the reason.

Speaker 1 (08:59):
Speaking to Chantey Pride, she is here from two Dope Chicks.
They have a plethora of information for you. They are
in the community empowering us with this event. Again, Chantey,
the date of the event and how can the community
register or get involved.

Speaker 2 (09:16):
The date of the actual event is December the first,
from one o'clock to five o'clock. We will be located
at Rutlish Pearson Elementary, forty three, forty six Ronald Boulevard.
The ways to register get involved, We have a QR code,
but you can also call us at nine oh four

(09:37):
to give that QR poll to you and that will
take you to the JOT form to register. You can
also give us a call at nine oh four eight
three four six three two one.

Speaker 1 (09:49):
Community Shawnee empowering the community each and every Sunday, providing
an avenue for you to get out this holiday season
enjoy the giving as well as the experience. Chante, I
know you guys are always delivering and providing an avenue
of enjoyment. What do you see coming in the twenty

(10:09):

If they want to be a volunteer, sponsor, and or
just be connected to this.

Speaker 2 (10:18):

(10:41):

O four A three four six three two one. We'll
be more than happy to let you know the upcoming
events and how you and your organization can partner with
us and participate because we're all here just to make
our community better.

Speaker 1 (10:58):
Thank you so much for being a part of community
viewpoints today. We appreciate your empowerment. We appreciate your thought
process ensuring that the community that you serve is served
through the holidays. Anything else, Chante, I.

Speaker 2 (11:12):
Truly appreciate you giving us this opportunity.

Speaker 1 (11:14):
Opportunity is key and when people here, they listen. We
have to highlight the people who are giving back and
who are new to the process of giving back. So
know that you are empowering and engaging a community and
moving them to different levels of enjoyment. It's refreshing when
you see new people on the scene doing different things,

(11:34):
new things. It just gives everybody a different way of living.

Speaker 2 (11:37):
Absolutely well, we appreciate.

Speaker 1 (11:39):
It, and I'm sure the community will appreciate you and
your endeavors as you empower the community. And we're back
with community viewpoints. Shawnee feeling blessed and highly favored. On
the Sunday morning, we have community advocates who are pouring
into our community, having exciting events that leads up to
an event that pours back into the community. So today

(12:01):
I have Katina. Katina is here to talk to us
about an event that she is adamant about, but she
has a drive and a passion to empower the community.
So she's creating a win win with the community. Katina,
how are you today?

Speaker 3 (12:15):
I'm doing great?

Speaker 2 (12:16):
How are you? You know Katina?

Speaker 1 (12:19):
When I saw the information, I said, this lady is
a go getter. She is in the community trying to
pour in to our children and around the time where
the holidays mean so much to everyone. So first tell
us a little something about you, and then we'll get
into the plethora of things that you have been doing

(12:40):
and what you will be doing to empower the community.

Speaker 3 (12:42):
I'm PK. Nickins. I am the executive director of the
dep Foundation. We've been doing this Heala Heart, food, clothing
and toy giveaways. This year will be twelve years. It's
hard to believe. We're a grassroots community started right here
are in Jacksonville, and this was a god given mission

(13:05):
to feed and close the community and we've just been
blessed to continue to do it. And this year we
have an additional event that we're going to do where
we're going to invite the community to be a part
of the pre gathering of the toys that we are

(13:28):
going to give out on December twenty first, at the
twelfth end, you will Heal a Heart, clothing and toy
giveaway immunity.

Speaker 1 (13:35):
Let me tell you something. She has a planned event
that is going to stir your soul, but it's also
going to give you something to do this holiday season.
So Katina, talk to us about your mission statement with
the DP Foundation and your why behind why you want
to give back.

Speaker 3 (13:53):
So why is it was a God given assignment that
we have been fulfilling for our twelve years. And I'm
just passionate about giving back to the community because you
can't be guys given. And when I started this outreach,

(14:16):
I was in a bad place financially. I felt like
I didn't even have anything to give anyone else, and
so I believe it was the sacrificial giving even when
I didn't have an abundance. And so over the years,
God has continued to bless us, to continue to bless others.

(14:37):
And as I said, this year, we're going to have
any well two events where we're going to invite the
community out. We're going to have entertainment, food and give
the community an opportunity to be a blessing, because I
think that's what we're all here to be a blessing.

(14:59):
And the more you get, the more you receive. I
hear a lot of people, you know, sometimes they're wondering,
you know, why they don't have as much as they could.
They're looking at, you know, their own lack. And so
sometimes I feel like if we take the focus off
of ourselves and put it on to others, we'll see

(15:19):
how much more blessed we are, because you know, it's
not as bad as we think. And the holiday time
is a great time for everyone to come together and
just just give give a little community.

Speaker 1 (15:31):
Shawnee speaking to Katina Mick and she's here to empower
us all but also speaks into our souls today to
enlighten us of you know, coming from a dark place,
but understanding the mission statement that God puts on our
heart and to give back. So with the holiday season,
Katina thinks that we all should come out but pour

(15:51):
into our community. So Katina talk to us about the
first event December the seventh, and of what the community
can do to get involved.

Speaker 3 (15:59):
So on December seven, from twelve pm to two pm,
we're having a toy drive. We're inviting the community to
come out purchase toys. You can do gig cards, you
can do bikes, you can do whatever God lays on
your heart. You can drive through and drop your donations off,
or you can come inside. We're gonna have mimosas, We're

(16:20):
gonna have some our durs for you to take part in,
and we need volunteers to help us collect the toys.
It's gonna be amazing time. We called it a toy
drive and a community gathering because we're gathering together, we're
collecting all these donations so we can pass them out
on December twenty.

Speaker 1 (16:40):
First, Katina, I see that you are adding this piece
of the entertainment to your drive annually, because when we
spoke or off Mike, you said that you've been, you know,
doing this in the community each year with other sponsors,
but this year you're you're adding a little touch, giving
the community something to get out, connect with people and

(17:03):
enjoy new experiences like this event.

Speaker 3 (17:06):
And what a great cost to give. It's the time
of giving. The more we give, the more we received.
And Christmas, in my opinion, it's about Jesus because that's
who's first in my life and no other way to celebrate.
He came to give, and so I stand for that
and that's what we're gonna do. Uh, my real estate brokers,

(17:28):
Katina Prevails real Estate. We're we are sponsoring this event,
the first one as well as the second event where
at four pm we're going to have the Holiday mixer
and a fundraiser. The entry to come in is gonna
be a toy or a gift card. For those can't
make it. From twelve to two come out, We're gonna

(17:48):
have a live ban. We're gonna have drinks, food, a
great way to network, and raffles and we want to
just you know, raise money for the foundation and to
gather as many resources as we can to help as
many families as we can on distribution Day, which is

(18:11):
December twenty first.

Speaker 1 (18:12):
Indeed, Shawnie speaking to Katina Mickens. She's here as a
community advocate, but I also hear that you're an entrepreneur
and year in, year out, you're giving back once you
you know, create your own foundation. So to all the
entrepreneurs out there, Katina, what keeps you motivated to give
each and every holiday season with the DP Foundation and

(18:36):
also through your brokerage.

Speaker 3 (18:38):
I think the motivation is seeing the smiles on the
kids' faces, just knowing that we are Heaven's hands here
on earth.

Speaker 2 (18:48):
You know.

Speaker 3 (18:48):
I feel like when God wants to bless you. He
uses people and I'm just honored to be one of
those people. Our organization is just honored, and I I
can do nothing but encourage all of you out there
who are listening. If you want to add more to
your life, the more you give, the more you receive.

(19:10):
And it's not easy. It's about sacrifice and that's what
love is. And if we want to show love to
one another, we should give, and not only just in
the holiday season because I give year round. But this
is just one event that, like I said, God had
given me an assignment to do and I just had

(19:31):
to stay faithful. And when you stay faithful, you'll see
the results. And I know that my workers, which we're
celebrating four years, it's only successful because I give.

Speaker 1 (19:43):
Committed to excellence and community centered approach with the driven
attitude for success. Katina, your inspiring story for all those
out there that have come through a time but you
still prevail and now you're here giving back to the community.
Anybody that you would want to think because I know

(20:03):
it's not easy, and you have a team that's behind
you and unsponsors.

Speaker 3 (20:08):
Of course, I want to thank iHeartMedia. I want to
thank w j x T Channel four Faith eating an
air Caatina prevails. The real estate people just over the
years that have given to our organization, To each of
you that donated toys or gently used clothing, because we

(20:29):
do clothing as well. I just want to say thank you,
and we're not done.
