Hi, this is Karen Miller. Welcome to our Get the
Letout calendar. A November twenty fifth, nineteen seventy one, Led
Zeppelin played at Leicester University. This was one of the
second round of surprise gigs announced for the UK tour.
Two individual Zeppelin songs took up one full hour of
their two and a half hour performance. In the middle
of a hard rocking show, the university crowd really quieted

down for a four song acoustic set. Listen to the
vocal harmonies they produced on this number and notice how
respectfully quiet the university audience was fifty years ago. On

November twenty sixth, nineteen seventy four, Led Zeppelin assembled to
rehearse for their American tour coming up in the new year.
They began practicing regularly at live Wire Theater in the
suburbs of London. Writer Nick Kent accepted Jimmy Page's invitation
and attended Zeppelin's seven hour rehearsal on their first day
at LiveWire. Nick recognized Zeppelin had adapted some traditional source material,

home in London. He was sixty two. Back in the

Jones to Tony and his ex Shadows bandmate Jet Harris

put out their single in January sixty three. It went
to number one. They were now in direct chart competition
with the Shadows. They needed to put a touring band together,
but Jimmy Page was in art college. However, John Paul
Jones accepted their invitation and he went out on the
road with Tony Meehan and Jet Harris forty five years ago.
On November twenty eighth, nineteen seventy nine, The Melody Maker

gave seven awards to led Zeppelin. Jimmy Page missed the event,
reportedly Jet lagged from a trip to Barbados. His awards
were for Best Guitarist and Top Producer. The three other
members of led Zeppelin attended at the Waldorf Hotel in London.
Melody Maker readers had once again voted Robert Plan Best
Male Vocalist, as the top live act band of the year,

and top composers. Well. Those all went to led Zeppelin,
v noted best album for him through the Outdoor, so
it was an especially good thing. John Paul Jones and
John Bottom also attended to help carry their share of
led Zeppelin's seven awards. As for the best Drummer, it
was Phil Collins and Genesis forty years ago. On November

twenty ninth, nineteen eighty four, the firm made their live debut.
Jimmy Page went on a European tour with his new
band and played their first show in Stockholm, Sweden. By design,
the crowd had never heard any of the firm's music
except for one Righteous Brothers cover, but that was everything
they played. It was natural to assume that a live

act with singer Paul Rodgers might venture into some of
his past material with the band's Free and Bad Company.
Every member of the band had credentials going into the project.
For instance, drummer Chris Slade had previously played with Manfred
Mann and ACDC. He recently revealed the firm had even
rehearsed some material from various members' back catalogs. Ingham disappointed
