Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hi, this is Carol Miller. Welcome to our get the
Leadout calendar. Around May twelfth, nineteen seventy eight, Led Zeppelin
rehearsed for the first time that year at Clearwell Castle
in England. They gathered where a bad Company had recorded
their second album for Swansong Records. Robert plants world had
been shattered the year before when he lost his son
to a stomach infection, and led Zeppelin no longer seemed

(00:21):
as important to him. Robert applied to teach for a
change of pace, but by the time led Zeppelin left
Clearwell Castle, they had been gunned to compose their next
epic Carouse Lambra and Robert unloaded in the lyrics. Look
after the lyrics, so I prefer to write at other
people the same kind. You know, when something's been initially born,

(00:43):
in its first days, that's the time when I usually
get nineteen the end of the time. On May thirteenth,
nineteen sixty nine, led Zeppelin's second US tour reached one
of the nation's furthest Corners. They arrived in Hawaii with
their private master tapes in tow radio station k POI
caught up with Jimmy Page and Robert Plant for an

(01:03):
interview which not many people seem to have heard, but
we've heard that it happened. Led Zeppelin performed at the
Civic Auditorium. It was sponsored by Indeca Music Productions. Once
their show was over, Zeppelin stuck around Hawaii for a
few more days before heading back to the mainland. They
did some swimming and even reportedly some skinny dippy. On

(01:36):
May fourteenth, nineteen seventy three, Led Zeppelin played to a
crowd of around ten thousand at Municipal Auditorium in New Orleans.
After their two and a half hour show, including an encore,
their day was just getting started. The street. Led Zeppelin
attended an after party at renowned studio Jazz City. This

(01:59):
second floor warehouse studio was the original home of R
and B group The Meters, who were actually on hand
to perform four and with led Zeppelin. If I say tomorrow, Dake,

(02:20):
maybe it sounded like that. On May fifteenth, nineteen seventy two,
Led Zeppelin did some songwriting and recording. They were on
location at Stargroves, the manor house that belonged to Mick
Jagger at the time. The Rolling Stones mobile truck was
there recording whenever inspiration struck. They came up with Walters
Walk during these sessions, which did not appear on any

(02:42):
led Zeppelin album until ten years later on Coda, But
they were quite eager to play it live. Even though
Robert Plant had not yet written any lyrics, he scattered
along with the fast paced wriff, so they played it
most nights on their US tour. The very next month,

(03:10):
on May sixteenth, nineteen seventy three, Led Zeppelin performed at
Sam Houston Coliseum. Their Houston show was the first of
four in Texas on that tour. They went on to
play one show each in Dallas, Fort Worth, and San Antonio.
In each of these destinations, led Zeppelin were sure to boogie,
and by that meaning, Robert Plant and Jimmy Page were

(03:32):
in the habit of quoting from the blues song Boogie
Chillin by John Lee Hooker put Soker, I didn't tell
my momma I've been to America ten times. Zeppelin had
already been covering Boogie Chillin nightly for four years straight.

(03:53):
After the seventy three tour, they gave the song a
rest until it crept back in six years later. This
is Carol Mill Thanks for Getting the let Out. Check
