Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hi, this is Carol Miller. Welcome to our get the
Letout calendar.
Speaker 2 (00:03):
Forty years ago. On July fourteenth, nineteen eighty five, Led
Zeppelin were back of the news again because all three
surviving members had just reunited at Live Aid the night
before the global music event began in London, where Queen performed.
Zeppelin performed at Live Aid's other stage in Philadelphia. I
got to interview Robert at Live Aid as Robert rejoined
(00:25):
his Shaken and Stirred touring band. They were returning next
to Richfield Coliseum in Ohio, where Led Zeppelin had performed
three times before. Attendees had to be wondering if Jimmy
Page and John Paul Jones might be traveling along with
Robert this time too, but no. Further on stage collaborations
took place right away. A lot did it to some
(00:46):
friends of mine too. On July fifteenth, nineteen seventy three,
Led Zeppelin returned to the Memorial Auditorium in Buffalo, New York.
On this particular knight, Jimmy Page led the rhythm section
through a game of Follow the Leader. Led Zeppelin intended
(01:22):
to play at Buffalo Memorial Auditorium once again It was
among the listed of confirmed venues for their planned US
tour in the fall of nineteen eighty, and that's the
tour canceled in light of drummer John Bonham's passing. It'll
soon be forty five years without him fifty five years ago.
On July sixteenth, nineteen seventy led Zeppelin kicked off a
(01:44):
brief tour of Germany. After this opening night in Cologne,
they would continue for three more nights, playing one show
a piece in Essen, Frankfort, and Berlin. Bringing On Home
service as led Zeppelin two's closing track, but at these
led Zeppelin shows they featured the song in all the sets,
with Robert Plant joining in on harmonica. Bringing On Home
(02:04):
provided led Zeppelin fertile ground for a four way jam session.
(02:25):
On July seventeenth, nineteen seventy seven, led Zeppelin kicked back
into touring mode for one last time in the US.
A capacity crowd of more than sixty thousand waited for
them at the Kingdome, their first time at the Seattle venue.
A few songs in, Robert Plant began to personalize his delivery.
He addressed the audience by name, interchangeably as either people
(02:49):
or Seattle. Yes, loved.
Speaker 1 (02:56):
Seattle.
Speaker 2 (02:57):
You know I don't think that's right. No, no, best.
Speaker 1 (03:08):
You know I did what I could.
Speaker 2 (03:11):
On July eighteenth, nineteen seventy three, led Zeppelin played for
around an hour and a half in Vancouver, Canada. This
was okay as a complete show, but without any encorees
that would have made it a more typical two hour show. Everybody,
including led Zeppelin themselves, wanted more, but Robert Plant became
suddenly interested in the light show and wondered what band
(03:33):
was playing. This halted the proceedings and somebody else announced
it to the sold out crowd.
Speaker 3 (03:39):
Hides you, gentlemen, led Zeppelin was left the building. You
can leave, stop and listen for just one moment. We're
trying to get Robert Plant to a hospital. Will you please,
very orderly try and cool it with the traffic while
we're trying to get the lemos through the traffic. We
have to get Robert to a hospital the next few This.
Speaker 1 (04:00):
