Speaker 1 (00:00):
But first it's time for some Husker Buzz with our
friend Sean Callahan, who is still in Kansas City getting
set to go to a baseball game. I understand, Sean,
how you feeling. How was last night?
Speaker 2 (00:11):
It was great? Still trying to I got back to
the hotel and I forgot that I were to record
my Husker Buzz extra report, so I did those that
got gotten to bed at three point thirty after our
postgame show, and got up for the Husker Buzz with
Gary and Jim this morning, and now we're closing the
store down here at five oh five. So it's been
(00:32):
a memorial, memorable trip out here, and it's Husker Night
at the k as thousands of Nebraska fans. It's going
to be a near sellout crowd. I'm told I spoke
to a royal person this morning and there were only
like a thousand or two thousand seats remaining for a sellout,
So it should be a great night a Husker fans
as well at the baseball parks.
Speaker 1 (00:50):
Yeah, it's gonna be awesome. So let's just do a
quick recap. The game was a close game. Cincinnati had
a chance. It looked like they're in field goal range
for a chance to tie. Went for the whole I'm
run balled, maybe try to get a win, and ended
up throwing in an interception. But how do you grade
the Huskers performance in the win last night?
Speaker 2 (01:07):
Well, yeah, there was like any opener, you're gonna have
things that don't look like the way you want and
then there's gonna be things that look good. And I
thought special teams, the kicking and the punting metter over
exceeded the expectation level what we thought. I thought the
transfer receivers, Isaiah Hunter, Dame Key, you know, Dylan Roola
was twenty three or forty two. And you know there
(01:29):
were no deep balls last night because Cincinnati played a
defense that they kept three safeties back the whole game.
It's the same type of defense Iowa State runs, where
you really have to kind of kip away with little
six to eight yard throws, and Dylan Royola was very good.
A lot of the times on those throws was very fortunate,
though not that any turnovers. Offensive line was probably just
(01:54):
a see I mean maybe a c plus a couple
guys had some issues, but they rotated the three tacks
on left side almost equally. But Elijah Pritchett end up
playing the most snaps defensively. You know our concerns going
into this game or the D line, and I think
that is something now that you have to get kind
(02:14):
of figured out. Elijah Judy did not have a great
game on the interior, and that's a guy they're going
to lean on. Kieran Davis got dinged up, came back in,
but they really probably need to address this the next
two weeks as they build this unit. Now have some
film to work on. But the bottom line are they
made the two turnovers that matter. The Vinton Shaver's forces
the fumble all points before halftime, and then Malcolm Hartstaw
(02:38):
closes the game with the interception. So Nebraska's defense, for
as kind of inconsistent as they were at times last night,
they did find a way to make the big plays.
Speaker 1 (02:49):
Well, one game down, plenty more to go, and Sean
Callahan will be doing all of it. Enjoy that baseball
game tonight.
Speaker 2 (02:55):
All right, Hey, I appreciated a lot of red out
here in Kansas City. It's been an label trip and
cannot believe Husker fans sold out Arrowhead. It was a
It was a great sight and I know everybody that
was down here will be talking about it for a
long time.
Speaker 1 (03:10):
Yeah, no doubt. We'll chat with John Callahan next week.
Big thanks, Sean. Enjoy yourself today, Hey, thank you, appreciate it.
