Speaker 1 (00:00):
Okay, Seana, why do we have a parade of Kansas
City people, Seana, that are going back down to Arrowhead Stadium.
Have you just total of all the friends and family
of Nebraska players as staff, that's about sixty thousand.
Speaker 2 (00:13):
Yeah, they're I mean, I think they're expecting over seventy
I mean over seventy thousand tickets I believe have been sold.
They haven't really been sharing like up to date accurate data,
but you know, tickets are getting more scarce. I mean,
all the tickets that are on Ticketmaster or resales for
the most part now meeting, they've already been bought by somebody.
So I think it will be fairly close to a sellout,
(00:34):
if not sold out, and you know, it will probably
push over sixty five thousand Nebraska fans in there, if
not more. I can't imagine a lot of Cincinnati people
are coming down there on a Thursday for this game.
I just don't think that's going to be the case.
And you'll get some but not like a huge group
(00:55):
of people. But yet, for Nebraska, this will be their
first time busting to a road trip since twenty ten. Yeah,
they're gonna bus and then they're gonna fly home.
Speaker 1 (01:05):
They're gonna wait a minute, they're gonna bus and fly home.
Why would they do that.
Speaker 2 (01:08):
Well, because they don't want to get home at four
or five, And I got it. And then they'll get
home quicker, but they'll they'll bust down fly home, and
that they have a bus to a road games? Is
I believe there's twenty ten in the Big Twelve that.
Speaker 1 (01:21):
Year I'm playing KU or Iowa State. Yeah, Cincinnati is
not a big draw down there when you're in a
pro sports market and you've got another big time college
basketball program in Xavier right there, and plus Cincinnati really
is populated by a lot of Kentucky fans. It's right
down there on the border. So you're just not a
national program. And that explains why they're not playing this
(01:43):
game at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, which is only
a couple hour drive from Cincinnati. They couldn't get anybody
to buy those tickets. They're on campus stadium, Knippert Stadium
seats about forty thousand, that's it, and that's that's a
lot for them. So, yeah, this is a Nebraska home game.
Speaker 2 (02:00):
And there would have been probably twenty thousand Nebraska fans,
they would have got to Lucas OOYL. I mean that
would have been pretty standard. But Arrowhead folks doubled the money.
It was just it was something like they were going
to make two million playing guaranteed in Indianapolis, with a
chance of it increasing. Aeroheads like, we'll give you four million,
and then there's also a chance of that number growing
(02:22):
based on how many more Nebraska fans buy tickets. So
they'll make more money Cincinnati on this one game than
they do a normal home game. And they already have
seven home games, so they're not short changing their their
local fans and economy and the band with only six
home games. They already got seven and this is their eighth.
And they're going to make some money the game because
(02:43):
they got to start baying players down there.
Speaker 1 (02:44):
Right, and they want to compete. They're in a Power
four conference now, the Big twelve, and the plan is
we want to compete for the championship against Arizona State
and against now Resurge in Kansas State and Central Florida.
See how they do. Big twelve is a very very
diverse comer. Now I want to ask you about Jamiir
Kahan this is the transfer from Southern Illinois. Guys, really
(03:07):
a quality player, undersized only about five to ten. Is
he going to be a regular in the rotation defensive back?
Are we going to be looking at him on special teams?
Speaker 2 (03:16):
He'll play in the rotation, and he's if I were,
I mean, he's probably there's you know, if you play
five defensive backs regular, he's battling probably for that fifth
sixth spot right now. He was a multi year starter
at Southern Illinois. He's from Kansas City least Summit North.
Played for Jamar Mosey in high school, so he's got
(03:37):
the Kansas City connections as well, and he's a veteran player.
He was hurt during the spring, that's why he didn't
hear his name, but Phil snow As immediately said something.
The matter was like, we got we gotta look at
this guy. He's he's pretty good and Jamar Mosey told
him the same thing when they were recruiting him. So
they took him as somewhat of a surprise transfer and
(03:59):
he he's panned out from all reports where he is
going to be a special teams guys. You mentioned Jim,
but I do think we'll see him on the field
in some capacity as well as a defensive back.
Speaker 1 (04:11):
So the defensive backfield is really rebuilt, and it's rebuilt
with a combination of younger guys and these transfers, and
as you know, I'm a big fan of one of them.
So let's see how Cone does. But it's hardening to
know that we're going to have some experienced people back
there to come.
Speaker 2 (04:26):
Back with experienced people, and a year ago they dealt
with a lot. I mean, Tommy Hill was hurt and
that kind of derailed everything. He tried to play herd
didn't work. And let's be honest, Marky Spauford and Malcolm
Hartsteg were having to play corner and those guys aren't
necessarily big ten level corners, but they're solid safety. So
they're back at safety. Now you've got two lockdown corners,
(04:51):
Andrew Marshall, who's a multi year starter All Conference player
from Idaho, and then Sierra Right who's had a great camp,
former five star player, and Sierra Right was not a
starter till middle of the year last year. So you've
got a little bit more establishment at those two corner spots.
But I think that that helps all right
