Speaker 1 (00:00):
Onward to sports Breve now the Huscar Buns Edition, well
our Huscar insider Sean Callahan live and Lincoln Rosie.
Speaker 2 (00:06):
Well, everybody's taking a bullet down there, Seano. The only
person who hasn't been blamed for the loss to Minnesota
is you.
Speaker 3 (00:14):
And I'm sure fans blamed us for predicting Nebraska. I mean,
I think almost all of us predicted Nebraska. Maybe I
saw one prediction that had Minnesota winning out there, but yeah,
it's kind of an eye opening week. And look, I
don't think anyone's surprised Nebraska lost in Minnesota and won
there in a long time, but just the way it happened,
and that's what people have been trying to get answers
(00:36):
on all week, just because you know, it just didn't
feel like that type of game should have happened. And
now you're playing a team in Northwestern this week who's
arguably better than Minnesota. I mean, they've had some impressive
wins too, and they're five and two just like Minnesota
is and wins over Penn State and Ucla, so that
this is going to be a tough week. At eleven am,
(00:57):
chilly morning, you've got to come out swinging this week.
You got to bring some energy and bring it. And
you know, Matt rules challenges coaching staff. You can just
sense it by their voices, hearing them talk.
Speaker 2 (01:06):
All week, walk us through offensive the offensive process. On
game days, the Rule has a headset on, which means
he hears what the offensive coordinator is calling on the field,
He gets the down and distance from upstairs, he calls
the play.
Speaker 3 (01:24):
Rule.
Speaker 2 (01:25):
Here's what it is is that the extent of it
does Rule have veto power because everybody's blaming Dana Holgerson,
including Dana Holgerson for the game plan on Friday night.
Speaker 3 (01:36):
Yeah, I don't know the ins and outs how much
Rule interjects. I think he might have interjected more when
it was sadderfield, But with Dana in his background, you know,
I think that's why he's brought in so Rule can
manage the game and not getting it have to be
worried about all the intricacies of the play calling on
offense and defense and special teams, so that I think,
(01:59):
I don't think you see Rule necessarily get involved like
he was doing as much in previous seasons. But he's
still the head coach and he's going to have an
opinion here and there also does Dilan Rayle will have
the power to check in and out of things at
the line of scrimmage. I mean, there's other parts to
the offense. If he sees something, can he check out
of it. We don't know really all the answers to
(02:21):
that either, but he does have a lot of autonomy
to do a lot of checks and check ins and
outs of plays at the line of scrimmage.
Speaker 2 (02:29):
I think there was one occasion during the game when
he was tapping on the sides of his helmet, meaning
I can't hear you because there's a radio frequency from
the offensive coordinator to the quarterback's helmet and that way
you don't have to signal in the play, just tell
him this is the play you're running. He tapped on
his helmet as if you couldn't hear it, and that
sounded to me like Dylan then called the play at
the line of scrimmage right then and there.
Speaker 3 (02:50):
Yeah, there's a lot of that obviously, and being on
the road that was the only time all year I
think Nebrass is going to deal with really loud crowd
noise in a road venue. Maryland was more Nebraska Vans
in there, and we know Kansas City was like Penn
State's going to be loud even even though they're going
through a lot of stuff there. But you could argue
Minnesota might beat a large one of the loudest environments
(03:13):
they'll face all year, especially being at night, and it
was I don't know if they called it a sellout,
but it was pretty close to a sellout in that place.
Speaker 2 (03:20):
Okay, Rocco Spindler the finger, he looks like Donald Duck.
He only has four fingers. Okay, that's not true. He
still has five fingers. But he did have a major
surgical procedure done on it. What's how much pain are
we talking about here?
Speaker 3 (03:33):
Well, I mean his finger came off the off the bone.
I mean he had a sticking out. People eat their
breakfast here in Omaha this morning. But yeah, they had
to put it back into place, have surgery. But he
cast it up and he played football yesterday, so that
they have tried. There's four different guys that are working
at right Guard, so they're they're they're exhausting. Their combinations
(03:56):
is to make sure they have what they need in
case Roco can't go. But the intention is he's going
to play and go. Pritchet should be back as well
at left tackle after a suspension from the targeting call.
But they've got to have a better plan this week
up front. I mean, that was a disaster. Quarterback's got
to get rid of the ball though. That's got to
be part of the plan. You can't have place where
(04:17):
if Dylan Ryala holds the ball longer than three seconds,
that's a problem too long.
Speaker 2 (04:22):
Yeah, they've got to just wid you're out a way
to get receivers. Watch the old Miss Lord Georgia game.
Watch those guys run the plays they're running. Their quarterback
holds the ball for a second, maybe a second and
a half, and it's out of there.
