Speaker 1 (00:00):
Sports Brief now Oscar Buzz edition with our Big Red Insider,
Sean Callay Live and Lincoln Rosie.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
All Right, Seano, Nebraska had some trouble containing the quarterback
on the ground in the Cincinnati game. Did they have
equal fears for this one?

Speaker 3 (00:15):
No, I don't think so mean Sorsby is a legitimate
NFL prospect. I mean, you heard. I heard on the
Will Compton podcast, Taylor Lawan said that the scouts that
he knew that were there were primarily there to look
at three guys. Soorsby, the tight end and the defensive
tackle from Cincinnati. Those were the three top draft prospects
in the game. And this scout actually told Taylor Lawan,

(00:37):
he goes, I don't know why everyone thinking this game
is going to be a blowt He goes, I guarantee
you it will be a close game from the film
they know on Cincinnati. So that was an interesting take
about the game. But yeah, Soorsby was a unique challenge
because he was so big and fast and physical, and
for Nebraska's sake, luckily they didn't start to run him

(01:00):
until the weight in the second half.

Speaker 2 (01:02):
Yeah, I mean, he's part of their scheme that they
run their quarterback. It's a little bit like Max Dugan.
You know Max Max ran a lot when he was
playing at TCU, and I think it's the same thing
with starts, but now they don't have a long shelf
life when you're running up and down the field in
every game. But it's part of their scheme and I
think in the Big twelve he'll make a lot of
big plays for them, especially in second halfs. On the

(01:24):
other hand, here's this little guy for Akron who is
sixteen of thirty eight against Wyoming with an interception, and
this guy looks like he should be the team manager.
I mean, no disrespect to Ben Finley, but there is
no way this guy is two hundred pounds. They say
he's six three and two hundred. Come on, now, I
have a hard time believing he's that big.

Speaker 3 (01:46):
He wasn't really, you know, that impressive. You know, he
has pressured a lot in the game as well in
the pocket, so you hope this is kind of one
of those games where they can figure a lot of
things out just with the scheme. Guys playing more sound,
you know, doing their job, playing containment, playing the edge,

(02:08):
because those are some of the issues. I mean, I
think some of the younger guys up front might have
just got out of whack. And look, Cincinnati's offensive line,
we didn't give them enough credit either. I think that
line last week wasn't that bad, and they did some
things to give Nebraska some problems at times in that game.
And you hope again at home. Now they're home for
forty one days here till essentially October eleventh. You know

(02:32):
that they can use this time at home to build
this defense and obviously kind of let this offense now
figure out a rhythm.

Speaker 2 (02:39):
Yeah, I think that Nebraska is going to have trouble
stopping people on the ground this year. I think that
the down people have a lot to prove. They're not horrible,
they're not brutal. But I think that it's going to
be a challenge against Big ten teams with big offensive
lines that are going to say, hey, we're going to
keep dealing Ryola off the field. We're going to keep
that offense off the field and move it up and down.

(02:59):
I don't think this week is is going to reflect that.
And when you look at Ben Finley, who had a
rating of sixty seven in his game against Wyoming compared
to Dilan Royolo, who's rating was one forty two on
a scale of where one fifty eight is perfect. You're
talking about two different offenses here. I just don't think
they can move the ball consistently enough to stay in

(03:21):
this game.

Speaker 3 (03:23):
No. Accord is one of the worst teams in the
MAC right now. I mean, they're ineligible to go to
a bowl game because of the APR Bollman and they're
one of the first teams ever to get that. Basically,
you have to have two straight years of poor academic
rating on your Academic Progress Rate, and they nail that
and then so they're out. I mean, they can't play
for a MAC championship. So this is a team that's

(03:44):
essentially playing for nothing all year, and that does scare
you in a game, I guess a little bit because
there's nothing to worry about for them. But again, I
mean Nebraskas should be able to do what they want
and play a lot of guys in this game.

Speaker 2 (03:55):
What are you hearing We have about a minute left, Shana.
What are you hearing about Alabama? Your guys on you
know down there were reporting that there are boosters that
are now circulating around Klein de Boer and if he
doesn't win at least two of the next three and
look good at Georgia in a couple of weeks, it
could be over for him.

Speaker 3 (04:15):
Yeah. I don't know where the seventy million bucks though,
or whatever, sixty eight whatever his buyout number is is
fairly significant. It did that seems yeah, that people are
disappointed about the opener, but I'm not ready to pull
the plug in his body. A work speaks for itself,
or he's been as a coach everywhere. But yeah, naturally,
it's a lot like Nebraska. Down there, people are very passionate,

(04:38):
even at a higher level in terms of that goes,
and they've proven I mean, Mike Price was a good coach,
came down there, and that's kind of the comparison. I
would use Mike Price as an outsider, not a Southern guy,
not a staving guy, not a bear Brian guy. And
you know it didn't last very long. They got rid
of him pretty quickly in Tuscaloosen. Then this kind of
has a similar feel if it doesn't wor work, because

(05:00):
I do think the boor is an excellent coach.

Speaker 1 (05:02):
Yeah, well, they're a little bit like Nebraska in that
fan the fan base, I mean, they won't. They won't
put up with it, you know. And if he doesn't
turn it around, ugly all right, SHAWNA. Thanks Keys to
the game with our Husker insider Sean Callahan tomorrow
