Speaker 1 (00:00):
Onward out a Sports Brave Huscar Buzz edition with Sean
Callahan Live and Lincoln Rosie.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
All Right, satur what the hell's going on with Dayton Royola?

Speaker 3 (00:10):
Yeah, unfortunately right after we get off of the air yesterday.
This all right literally happened around six forty five seven
o'clock yesterday. But I think you've got a kid that
I think once the carver his own path and recognized
the situation here, you know, with Dylan Royola, t J Latif,
and Trey Taylor coming in in twenty twenty seven, but

(00:31):
he was kind of the odd man out. I mean,
if you look at the quarterback position, obviously you invest
a lot of money into it now and if you're
not one of those guys, it's a tough road. And
I think, you know, he just said, you know what,
I don't know if this is going to be the
best place for me to get an opportunity. And he's
a good quarterback. That's what people need to understand. Dayton
Royola is the quarterback of one of the top high

(00:52):
school teams in America, the top team in Georgia, and
he's having a great year and I just think he
feels like his long term development and opportunity, maybe Nebraska
was not going to be the best spot for him
to play.

Speaker 2 (01:06):
So your position, Shano is that there is no connection
to this decision relative to the other Riolas running around
down there, specifically the starting quarterback who currently is recovering
from an injury and the starting offensive line coach.

Speaker 3 (01:22):
Yeah, not right now, but as you know, the world
changes quickly, and so you know it's going to be
the next two weeks gim are going to be interesting.
We all know it. If t comes out there and
plays well and beats and beats Penn State and or
Isle are both all of a sudden, the dialogue does
change a lot because you can't say, Okay, TJ, you're

(01:44):
back to number two. I mean, there'd be a legit battle.
I think we all know that. So how would that
change things if latif really got some momentum here, I
don't know, and nobody knows what that's going to look like.
But if they win any of these two games, these
would arguably be Matt Role's best wins he's had in Nebraska.
And if he's a big part of that or a

(02:05):
big reason for that, you can't ignore that. So I
do think the next two weeks are going to be
big for a lot of reasons.

Speaker 2 (02:12):
Now, Shana, you also came construction permit applications to get
information about football, and the understanding is that the Riola
family was building a home in Lincoln.

Speaker 1 (02:22):
Is that so?

Speaker 2 (02:23):
And I don't really subscribe to a lot of internet rumors,
but if the Riola family is building a home in
Nebraska in Lincoln, a permanent residence here, that would tell
you that they're more inclined to be here for the
long haul. Do you know if that is happening.

Speaker 3 (02:39):
Yeah, I don't know what kind of place they're building.
I know they're getting a place here. They have a
place in Uford, Georgia for about the next month or
two till Dayton finishes up down in Beauford, and I
know they have a place in Michigan on a lake.
So yeah, I think if both boys were here naturally
would have made sense for them to live here. And

(03:00):
you know there was a time where their daughter worked
at Nebraska too, So I don't know. I can't answer that,
Jim what they're playing, but yeah, I do believe they
have a place where. You know, Dylan's got his own
place and they might be getting their own play. They
were planning on that as well because of the boys
bolt being here.

Speaker 2 (03:16):
Okay, and then the condition of the offensive line coach.

Speaker 3 (03:20):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (03:21):
There is considerable belief in speculation that Scott Frost only
hired Donovan Riola to get to Dylan Ryol and this
was several years ago when Dylan was still in school.
I don't know if that's the case. What is your
view of his condition? If and when Dylan Riola leaves
the program, is he still solidly respected there? Do they

(03:42):
believe he's making these guys better? The results on the
field have been mixed.

Speaker 3 (03:46):
Yeah, it's really that's a tough one answer too. I
do think the old Lion played has played well. I
mean especially last game. They haven't given up and then
give a sack. So I think it again, it's one
of those things that's a Matt rule call. But I
haven't heard either way and what direction that would go,

(04:09):
because they have kind of turned it around in some respects.
And we'll see what this game brings, because I think
Penn State is going to be right up there with
a Michigan level pass rush as far as what they'll
bring at.

Speaker 2 (04:19):
Latif and then the next question is and a lot
of Husker fans wonder jet Tomala is the record setting
quarterback in Millard South, Nebraska blew past him in the
recruiting process to get to Trey Taylor, obviously, TJ Latif
and Dayton Riola. With Riola's defection from the Class A,
is there any interest in Tamala? Is there any interest

(04:41):
in Tamala coming to Nebraska or is Alabama solid for him?

Speaker 3 (04:45):
Oh? There's zero chance, guys. He signs his letter in
less than two weeks. You can't go in a living
room with a kid and even talk to him right now,
Jet Tom I talked to his family this week because
we're getting ready for the state championship game. He'll be
in Tusca Loosa January fifth, to you know, to get
ready for his career there. I mean, he is. They
love him at Alabama. He loves Alabama. They've been up

(05:08):
to Miller to watch him play. You know, they they
think they hit a home run. I mean, the Alabama
staff sees a lot of similarities of Drake may in
his game. I mean, they're extremely high on him, and
I think playing for that offensive coaching staff hasn't very
excited right now with Will Grubb and obviously Kat Kiln
de boor who are you know, QB gurus.

Speaker 2 (05:29):
And offensive, Well, the only thing that causes Nebraska is
more angst than corn bars. Is when a kid from
Nebraska stars for somebody else, that's a problem. And if
he does that, that's an issue. People get very upset
about that up here, and they should.

Speaker 1 (05:45):
We're winning. And if TJ.

Speaker 2 (05:47):
Latif leaves and goes and starts somewhere, well, now, yeah,
that's just the kind of thing that gets people really
worked up around here.

Speaker 1 (05:54):
But right now we've got quarterbacks coming out of the sprinklers.
So Sean, thanks Sam. He'll be back with us tomorrow.
Were the keys to the game. And he's back this
afternoon with Emery the Afternoon Buzz just after five on
news radio eleven to ten KFA B
