Speaker 1 (00:00):
One word now to Sports Brave Huscar Buzz Edition, Sean
Callahan liven like and Rosie Okay, Sean ol Keona Davis
is back in he hits reverse, checked out his bank
account and noticed it was a little larger than it
was the day before. He announced it has to go.
That's just anecdotal on my part. But he's back. That's good.
Speaker 2 (00:19):
Nate Borkatcher out, Isaiah McMorris out, Daveon Hall out go.
Speaker 3 (00:24):
Yeah, it's that group. Borgature is the one that really
gets your attention. I mean, he was as good as
any tight end Nebraska has. Obviously, Thomas Fedoni and him
were the top two guys, and I know that was
a surprise yesterday when that went in a lot of
people were like, whoa wait a minute. So you hope
that there's maybe a chance to get him back now
with Isaiah Morris and Davon Hall from Bellevue West, both
(00:48):
had only been on campus for six months, both red shirted,
you know, neither was in the discussion to play this
year and as true freshman. So you just wonder what
goes into their thought process other than maybe they realize
that they're not They're not going to have what it
takes to play at this level, and they want to
go somewhere where they can be a factor and have
(01:09):
more of a role because you know the new wide
receivers coach that Kiel Schwartz, he's going to bring in
a lot of his own guys. They've had now a
week around him, and they probably have an understanding of
maybe this won't be a fit for them moving forward,
and we'll we'll see where they go. But neither has
film at this point, so it will be interesting to
(01:30):
see kind of where where they end up going in
what level and what school and what conference, both those
players landing because with this one oh five roster deal,
you know, spots are at a premium everywhere, and you
know there's gonna be a lot of players looking for
places out there everywhere, and again Nebraska, it is a
lot like se for other schools out there right now.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
The thing is, you look at receiver just as an example.
I mean, I think the tight end position will be
fine with Sodony Lindenmeyern, probably Heinrich Harberg moving there, But
look at receiver. You got cart Tez Mills coming in,
who was a premier prospect, and you know he came
in not thinking I'm gonna said, You've got two or
three really talented young receivers on the roster now from
(02:12):
Jalen Lloyd to Jacory Barney to Clark, who I think
could become a superstar. And now you got other people
in the portal that you can't have an offense with
seven wide receivers on it. So somebody's gonna have to
be on the sidelines. Who do you think that's going
to be.
Speaker 3 (02:27):
Yeah, the Jeremiah Jones you mentioned him. He's just six
foot five, two hundred and twenty pound athlete. Quinn Clark
you mentioned earlier. You know, he generally play six receivers
in the game. I mean, that's kind of the standard
rotation everybody plays at that position. But you got to
figure Clark and Barney are going to be factors immediately.
(02:48):
It looks like Bullock. You know, Bullock walk att senior Day,
so I don't know if he's coming back at this point.
He's not in the portal, you know, so he could
he could just say I'm done with college football and
then move on from the game. You just never know
when a guy walks at senior day what their intentions
are as brother walked the year before. But you're right,
you have to size that group down to six, and
(03:09):
I would say Mills is going to be in that
group no matter what. We in Jones right now, Jones
and Jones and obviously Barney is going to be the
featured player. And then whoever they bring in from the portal. Look,
they're trying to get like Dane Key from Kentucky, who
a lot of people are going to go after, but
they will go after and bring in one or two
really good portal receivers.
Speaker 2 (03:31):
So that means and just because you're one of the six,
they complain about targets. And if you've seen the CW
series All American, there's a whole series. Is the superstar
in that series of the fantastic series, Spencer James is
complaining because he's not seeing the ball enough during a game.
I mean, this is a big problem. You got too
many guys that expect to get fed and there's only
(03:52):
so much food, all right, who else other than potentially
a couple of receivers this week, in your opinion, visiting
to Nebraska football, the Huskers have the best chance of
getting out of the portal.
Speaker 3 (04:03):
Well, they're hosting three visitors as we speak this week,
right now, yesterday and today. You know the Michigan Center
Dominic Guidees He started six games this year for the Wolverines.
He was on campus yesterday, and then Jonah Pace, a
defensive lineman out of Central Michigan, was a key player
(04:24):
for them. He played five hundred and eighty five snaps
on the defensive line. Those two are on campus today.
They're bringing in a long snapper, Kevin Gaelic out of
New Hampshire. He scored an eighty eight point nine on
Pro Football Focus as a long snapper, which is out
standing grade in comparison Nebraska's two snappers this year, Aiden
(04:45):
fleagey forty one to five. Camden Wentucki was a twenty
eight to nine. So they are trying to upgrade the
long snapper position, which is a big part of the
kicking problems. They also offered a punter yesterday from Washington.
He has one year left to go with his eligibility.
Jack McAllister the number four ranked punter in the Big
(05:08):
Ten on Pro Football Focus this year. He will visit
Nebraska this weekend as a one year punter take and
he was great at higher than Brian Bushini.
Speaker 1 (05:18):
All right, Sean, thanks just quickly here we got a run.
But I'm thinking about that defensive line, assuming that Robinson
and hutt Maker play in the ball game. We lost
James Williams and others, but what about reinforcements these young
guys coming up for the bowl game. I'm thinking, well,
(05:39):
Keona Davis that we talked about, he's playing.
Speaker 3 (05:41):
Yeah, there's six guys really that I will make that rotation, Robinson, Huttmocker,
Elijah Judy, Cameron, Lynn Hart, Riley Van Poppo, Keona Davis.
I mean that will be kind of your sixth linemn
you roll with on December twenty eighth.
Speaker 1 (05:54):
Great, thank you, my friend, our Husker insider, Sean Callahan,
